OOC: This RP effectively kills Nexxus Drako and Yveltal, although it will not take effect until after both teams finish in the World Cup. If we get invited to the CoH, we will refuse. More in the WCDT.

Nexxus Drako woke with a start, his godly senses tingling. Something was horribly wrong in the nation of his namesake.

He hurriedly opened a scrying portal and peered into Drako City, which was a smouldering ruin, with mass bloodshed still ongoing. Nexxus began to research the history and cried when he learned of the cause.

He decided there was only one course of action, destroy himself, which would destroy the nations of Nexxus Drako and Yveltal, disintegrate all residents and most of all, destroy the Dracon race. Of course, this isn't what a god would usually do, but Nexxus was insane.

He strapped a magical bomb to himself, which would destroy him as soon as Nexxus Drako's World Cup Qualifying campaign was over, which he chose so as not to ruin other teams' minds.

Nexxus Drako was set for destruction, and no-one could do anything, as Nexxus was in his own secluded universe.

What would happen if Filopines don't win World Cup 69? Part Two

Part One

I busted myself out of the rubble. I stood up and brushed off the debris. All I saw was destruction for miles. The sky was gray, it was completely silent, and the city was in ruins. "Is anyone there?!" I clung to hope that someone else survived. I heard a voice in the distance. "Hello?!" It was Paul.

"Paul! It's Gavin!"

"Oh, thank God you're alive!"

"This is unbelievable."

I looked up to see a black helicopter. It was the military. Sheets of paper began to fall out of the sky. I managed to catch one before it fell on the ashes. I read it out to Paul. "By decree of President Luke Croydon, the Filopinian Air Force have bombed every city in Filopines and burned it to the ground. We have lost the World Cup."

"Really?!" I screamed out in rage.

"Is that all it says?"

"Wait, there's more. To all survivors, travel to Central Temple in the Southern Mountain Range. Be there in exactly one month. Our nation shall begin anew."

"Well then, Gavin. I guess we should go."

"Wait. Lana. I must find Lana."

We arrived at my home. I frantically dug out all the rubble and found a dead body. It was Lana's.

"I'm really sorry, Gavin."

"It's ok. We have to move on."

"Alright, let's go."

"Wait, don't you have any loved ones, Paul?"

"Well, my parents are dead, just like yours, I'm an only child, and I'm single. Livin' the life, baby."

"Umm... ok then. Let's go."

During the game Jeruselem vs Vietnam at Dazza Dallas Stadium, Princess Melody and Jayden Bella's husband Raymond

Melody: Hello again. We dated once, remember?
Raymond: Oh yes, we did
Melody: I guess I wasn't your type huh. Does the wife know this?
Raymond: Yes, when she got your job I had to tell her
Melody: I've dated so many guys ... God, I can't remember all that
Raymond: I guess it was a good thing then

Melody: Anyway, wifey is doing a great job.
Raymond: Yes, I mean - the team are doing so well. I guess you did leave her a functioning football team to work with.
Melody: Yes, the team are doing great. 4 more games and we look like being top dog.
Raymond: Not so good with Jeru FC
Melody: Funny with them, they are now 3rd but ... well 9 points behind 2nd place so I think it's impossible to finish 2nd
Raymond: Guess it's better than last

Melody: Taking care of the kids, the wife being out of the country a lot
Raymond: Getting used to that, her last job didn't really take out of the country
Melody: Get used to it, she might have the job for a while
Raymond: I guess I have to. The kids are always asking when she's coming home.
Melody: I don't what's the bother?
Raymond: Because your family are used that lifestyle

Melody: Hard work being a sole parent?
Raymond: We don't have grandparents to help out
Melody: I guess I don't have that problem
Raymond: You do have a huge family
Melody: If you married me, you'd have a bigger one too
Raymond: I couldn't cope with that really

Melody: Anyway, Jayden is a clever and strong minded girl, intelligent too. Great people skills. Just very ... boring
Raymond: Yes, I prefer my women not to be too adventurous
Melody: Still work for the same company?
Raymond: Yes, I've moved up a little though
Melody: It's time you find a better employer. Look at the wife, she's got a much better job now.
Raymond: I guess she's the one with big money now

Melody: Say, you been watching my Sex in Jeruselem show?
Raymond: Err, no. I don't have the time
Melody: You'll learn a thing or two
Raymond: I don't need to, my daughter watches it and tells me all about it
Melody: She'll be ready for sex then, I assume you want her to be ready.
Raymond: Unfortunately, she likes to be a party animal. Her mum wasn't like that

Melody: She's young, she's allowed to be a party animal.
Raymond: I guess we're only young once
Melody: I'm grandmother, I like to party.
Raymond: I guess you have tolerant husband
Melody: If you marry a Dallas, you know what to expect. Met my daughter?
Raymond: Err, yes. She does remind me of you.

Melody: Well, Amy could have been your daughter.
Raymond: Yes, well ... I know
Jayden: Hey, you harassing my husband again Melody.
Raymond: It's OK, she is an ex girlfriend
Melody: I'm just reminding him
Jayden: It's sure a small world round here.

HEARTBREAKING DEFEAT

The zach team played well, scored aaa goal 10 minutes before half time and kept the one goal lead till the last few minutes when three penalty corners shattered Zach hopes.
Tears rolled down the players cheeks, and they sat quietly in their dressing room. Abigail was bawling and throwing a tantrum on the field. Shouting ‘i will never get to be a chap'.
The supporters walked out of the stadium like they were leaving a funeral service, grief stricken expressions and bowed heads. They didn't walk they shuffled slowly like an old lady. And rightly so for they had might have just witnessedthe death of zach World Cup dreams.

Keith wanted to open his mouth to offer some words of encouragement. But nothing came out. Ut seemed as though his larynx was missing.
His tongue refused to do it's job, but his lacrymal glands did, he cried. He cried like he wanted to get dehydrated by losing water through his eyes. And who could blame him, the loss was just so heartbreaking and dissapointing. It was clear that luck wad not on their side.

They considered the zach team a surprise team, and most certainly they were. But the teams hopes of turning surprise to shock dissolved on that field today.

Part Eleven: Requiem for a Murderer
Blevit’s return was the work of a moment, with Q depositing him back in Anna’s chamber and then unfreezing the occupants with no one the wiser as to his absence or his activities therein. Just before he froze, Parrish had asked Blevit if he would agree to keep Anna’s death from Alexi until they had achieved a workable solution to the Cabindan occupation. Now that he had leaked the news to the Triad, Blevit had no qualms about agreeing, “Of course, Luke. For the good of both our peoples, and perhaps as a way to bury the hatchet between us, I won’t go to Alexi.”

Parrish, being who he was, couldn’t resist the chance to perhaps reconcile with his old friend. Despite the bad feelings that had passed between them, Luke was more than willing to let them go if it meant he could also let go of the burden their mutual hatred had become on his conscience. He smiled, “John, you don’t know how much I want to bury that hatchet. Thank you, not just for helping protect our people, but for helping to protect all of us here. I know many of us have done things that have hurt you, and justifiably so, but believe me when I say that none of us ever wanted to hurt you. Everything I did, everything Phillip did, we thought was for your own good. I wanted to get you out of harm’s way back in Cabinda, and Phillip would never have lied to you if we hadn’t forced him into it. Despite what happened, I still love you like a brother, John, and I want to have back what we had before.”

Blevit didn’t speak, and he seemed to be fighting back tears as he stepped forward to wrap him arms around Luke, who returned the embrace with equal fervor. Had Luke known what thoughts were behind those teary eyes, however, he would have recoiled in shock. Idiot. Lets himself be suckered by a couple tears and a hug. As if what he did could be forgiven. As they hugged, he surreptitiously snapped a series of photographs of Anna’s body, which lay on the bed behind Parrish, and the health monitors that showed all her vital signs had flat lined.

As the two broke apart, Luke saw Phillip stifle a yawn out of the corner of his eye, and for the first time he noticed that the sun had gone down, “Oh my word, is it that late? John, I don’t know about you, but Mr. Garret and I haven’t slept in over a day, and Phillip, you’ve got to be right on the edge of that.”

Sensing a chance to escape, Blevit faked a yawn of his own, “It’s been awhile for me, as well. I haven’t slept since I was in my cell, before Colonel Cloak-and-Dagger bundled me over here. I haven’t been up as long as you, I think, but I could definitely use some sleep.” Looking around, he feigned disappointment and added, “But I don’t think I’ll be able to get any sleep here, there’s only the one bed, and I don’t think anyone wants to use it with the Queen’s body in it.”

Still caught up in the euphoria of his perceived reconciliation, Luke was in a giving mood, “Well, I think we can break up for tonight. We’ll have to leave Peter and King Sien here, but if we tell the door guards that the Queen is resting and left express orders not to be disturbed under any circumstances, she shouldn’t be disturbed until we reconvene tomorrow morning, so we can enter and reseal the door while still maintaining the secret.”

Nichols broke in from the back of the room, “That seems like an awfully big and extremely unnecessary risk, Mr. Parrish. If Alexi comes in or if the guards decide to check on the Queen during the night, it all falls apart.”

“I know it’s a risk, but it’s not as big as you’re saying. First, even though he’s not Prime Minister anymore, Kevin still commands an aura of authority that few can match. If Kevin Garret gives a palace official an order in the Queen’s name, that order will be followed as though it came from God himself. Second, Alexi is still dealing with the occupation, which is a major crisis in its own right. Regardless of the feelings he has for his wife, he most likely won’t attempt to visit her anyway, and if he does the guards will stop him. But even beyond that, John pointed out correctly that we can’t all sleep here, and we’re only hamstringing our effectiveness if we don’t all get some before we get back to work.”

“That’s all very well-reasoned, Mr. Parrish, but someone has to ensure that Mr. Blevit, who I remind you is still a prisoner of the Queen’s government and officially in my charge, does not escape or pass word of the situation to enemies of the state. If we agree to recess for the night, I will have to follow Mr. Blevit at all times and keep a close watch on his activities. Is this acceptable, Mr. Parrish?”

It wasn’t really a question, the edge of steel in Nichols’ voice made clear the implied threat that the Colonel would use force if Parrish didn’t accede. While he was reluctant to endanger his newly resurrected friendship with the Cabindan, he didn’t see any way around it. He’d just have to agree and hope Blevit understood, “I’m sorry, John, but there really isn’t another option. Do what you must, Colonel.”

The group separated, with King Sien and Peter Warren remaining behind, and the rest to their respective lodgings. Parrish and Garren went with Kevin Garret to ensure that the aging politician arrived home safely after giving the guards their new orders, and Nichols went with Blevit, taking him (he assumed) back to Fort Blyr or to another nearby detention facility where he would spend the night under guard. To his surprise, however, the Colonel directed him to a small alley just off the main road next to the Palace. Blevit didn’t dare refuse him, especially the Nichols’ gun just centimeters away from his back, but he still tried to walk as slowly as possible, delaying whatever fate of Nichols’ choosing awaited him in the dark space between the buildings.

It was a moonless night, and Blevit’s eyes didn’t take long to adjust to the new lighting arrangement. He could dimly make out a second figure awaiting them at the end of the alley, but he couldn’t make out his features and doubted he’d recognize the man even if he could. The man approached them, and they about halfway in, right where the shadows overlapped to make everything as dark as possible. Despite the low visibility, Blevit could dimly see the outline of a gun in the man’s hand, one leveled directly at his chest, and the faint hope that the other man was not an ally of Nichols’ evaporated. Stepping out from behind Blevit and going over stand next to the man, keeping his gun trained on Blevit throughout, Nichols spoke for the first time since he’d told Blevit to head for the alley, “Mr. Blevit, you don’t know this man, but he knows you. Three years ago, he and I were part of a covert operations team tasked with assassinating President Raven. I led the team and Will Dorne here was my XO. The mission was a complete success, with the President killed and any effective leadership along with him, maximizing the chaos your country would soon descend into. However, we didn’t all come back. One of the members of my team, Christopher Alexi, the man who posed as the sniper, even though he didn’t pull the trigger, was brutally murdered by your police forces in the immediate aftermath of the assassination. When we got back, our intel team went to work discovering the name of the policeman who shot Alexi, and we eventually tracked him to your group of partisans. It’s Ben Varel, your chief lieutenant. Since we don’t have him here, we’re going to take things out on you instead. Gag him and tie him up, Will. Let’s go to work.”

The next several minutes were a blur to Blevit. Years of training and even more years of experience in the field had made the two soldiers experts in hand-to-hand combat, and having a defenseless, immobile target to strike at allowed them to maximize the damage their blows inflicted with extreme ease. Blood seeping from multiple wounds, Blevit curled into as tight a ball as his bonds would allow and tried to shut off all feeling in his body. He thought he’d succeeded when the stabs of external pain suddenly ceased, but then he dimly heard Q’s voice echoing above him, “Well, that’s enough of that. John, get up, it’s time to end this.”

Struggling to his feet, Blevit found Dorne and Nichols frozen in place, just like Parrish, Garren, and the rest had been a few hours before. Behind them, Q held both of their guns by the barrels, with the grips extended towards Blevit, “Go ahead John, these two killed your President and destroyed your country, and they’re now trying to beat you to death without trial in an alleyway. It’s almost your duty to kill them, they’re a stain on the honor of both Cabinda and West Angola.”

Five years ago Blevit would have refused, but what he’d been through since Parrish’s betrayal had hardened him, and the ordeal he’d just endured made the decision even easier. Accepting the weapons with a smile, he stepped behind the pair and leveled the pistols at their heads, “Unfreeze them, I want them to know what’s happening.” The two burst back into motion, striking at the place where Blevit had been, overbalancing, and crashing to the asphalt with a satisfying thud. Even from behind, Blevit could imagine the confusion on their faces, and he called out in a singsong voice, “Over here boys!” As they rolled over, caught completely off guard by Blevit’s seeming teleportation, he took the barest moment to appreciate the utter incomprehension on their faces before blowing both of those faces away at point-blank range. Pocketing both guns, he struggled to walk down the alley, stepping over the bodies and trying to ignore the pain the radiated through his body with every step. As he walked, however, he began to feel better and better, and he heard Q’s voice behind him, “Don’t worry. You head on to the Triad, I’ll fix you up as you go, and tomorrow I’ll make sure everyone in that room sees Nichols with you, just as he should be.”

Olden Stadium, Falkamore, Nejax, Free Republics

It was late in the match and the score was tied at 1 goal apiece. So far, the official had called it right down the middle, to the visible frustration of Rule Theriault. Still, he had confidence that the referee would do the right thing, given the opportunity. The opportunity soon arrived. A charge forward by the Republican National Team put them into the scoring area. Bernard Lukic had delivered the ball to the feet of Koby Theodore. Before long one of the defenders made accidental contact with Theodore's shin and the Republican striker fell to the ground, putting on a professional-quality acting performance.

The referee awarded a red card to the defender (OOC: SJG can decide which one it was.) and a penalty kick to the FFR. Koby Theodore, somehow, made a miraculous recovery and stepped up to take the penalty. A perfectly placed penalty found its way into the net. The Free Republics took a 2 goals to 1 advantage. Just minutes later, a Rodolfo Zelaya equalizer was called offside when it was clearly onside. It was clear: The referee was playing ball with Sheriff Akram and he was not going to allow the visitors to leave Nejax with anything to show for it. He just hoped that the visiting fans had enough sense not to do anything that would get themselves arrested because the Sheriff in these parts was clearly somebody whom you had to obey without question, if you knew what was good for you.

The tainted victory put the Free Republics alone atop the group for the first time since their loss in San Jose Guayabal. Miley World managed to hold the Sarian to a draw, allowing Theriault's Republicans to take a 1 point lead. A visit to Czarch was next on their schedule before they would return to the FFR (well, the island of Falatulu, which was at least technically part of the FFR) to host Sarian. With victories over Czarch and Sarian, they would be at least 4 points up against both of the Esportivans with just 2 matches to play. Then, they would be able to survive a disaster against Miley World or Ekoz and still, at least, win the group. However, if they wanted to avoid the playoffs, they figured that winning the remainder of their matches would likely be ideal.

Why I Started Girls Against Feminism
by: Nova Hellstrom

By now, you've undoubtedly heard of the numerous atrocities committed by the international terrorist conspiracy known as feminism. You've also probably heard that these atrocities were committed in the name of "rights" for women or in the name of "empowering" women. For years, I was kind of ambivalent toward feminists. I kind of liked the idea of having special privileges, but I didn't like their hostility toward men or their lesbian tendencies. I like men. I always have and always will, but like most Republican women, I stayed silent for years about feminism because I believed that I might see some benefit from it.

However, in these times, one can no longer stay on the fence about this matter. One is either with the feminist terrorists or against their hateful ideology. I am, without a doubt, against them. I stand with the victims of this evil and hateful ideology and my thoughts go out to the men around the multiverse who have had their rights violated by judges who have been bought and paid for by the feminist conspiracy. I want men to know that most of the girls feel the same as I do and find feminist terrorism as repugnant as I do.

Unfortunately, there are many men, even in our own Federation, who have decided to go their own way and remain single for life, because of the hate spewed by feminists. I want them to know not only that not all women are like that, but that most women (including all normal women) are absolutely not like that. As girls who love men, we must make it very clear that feminism is unacceptable and that any other form of hate speech toward men is unacceptable in a decent society. Otherwise, we will find ourselves lonely in our old age because good men (and make no mistake about it, at least 99 percent of men are good) spurn us.

In my current career as a professional wrestler (I'm the current World Ladies Champion in the RWC, so I'd say I'm pretty good at it!), my job is to fight other women to entertain the men and women who attend RWC events, who watch RWC television programming (2 of our shows are the first and second longest-running weekly episodic shows in the history of Republican television) and who subscribe to the RWC Network. I love my job and I want to continue doing it for as long as I am physically able. Feminists claim that they want equal pay for equal work, but let's face it, I don't exactly do as much work as the male wrestlers do, nor do I particularly want to! I don't want to be tossed off of a 20-foot-high cage and I certainly don't want to be slammed, face-first, on broken glass. I'm not the kind of gal that wants to leap off of a 100-foot stage, uncertain whether doing so is even going to win the match for me. Let's face it, the guys work harder than me, they do their job better than I do and they simply deserve to make more money than I do.

Let's face it. We're girls. We like to look good and most of us want jobs where we can have the opportunity to look good or, if that's not an option, at least jobs that are not overly difficult or risky. Personally, I have no desire whatsoever to run for political office and I would question the sanity of those women who do that. I also have no desire whatsoever to work in a coal mine or on an oil rig. And does anybody really think that there are that many girls that actually want to spend all day doing math or programming computers? I don't know about you, but my favorite parts of school were hanging out with my friends, flirting with the guys and extracurricular activities. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with you if you're into those kinds of things, but most girls aren't and there's nothing wrong with that.

Another problem with feminists is their prudishness regarding sex. I like my body. I'm sure most girls like their bodies. Most guys like our bodies. Why should we be so uptight about sex and think that our hook-ups are rapists, just because they don't call us in the morning or because they go a little further than we like? Why should we accuse our husbands of being rapists when, let's face it, we consented to it on the day we said I do? Why should we hold our lovers responsible for taking advantage of us when we lose control of ourselves to some good ole Dixon Light? Don't be that girl, sisters. Just have fun and be thankful that we live in a country where we are free to do that. Some women don't.

When the feminists aren't complaining that sex between consenting adults is rape, they're complaining about violence against women. Let's be honest with ourselves. How many times have you hit a man? If its fine for you to hit him, isn't it also fine for him to hit you back? How many times have you pushed limits and been unreasonable with a man, just because you want him to be a man and stand up to you? So, why would you call the cops on him? Jonas Rasmussen, a running back with the National Football Team, was arrested several months ago because he hit his fiance back after she hit him first. Police eventually dropped the charges, at her request and the 2 of them just got married, yet Logan Allen is actually considering whether he should suspend his running back from World Bowl games. Ladies, we need to think before we call the cops in those situations. If we're partially at fault, is it really worth having the man we love arrested? You could end up unfairly besmirching his reputation, just because he was enough of a man to defend himself (really, how much of a wimp does a man have to be to allow his girlfriend to beat him up?).

No, I am not saying that I want to be kept barefoot and pregnant all the time, chained to some kitchen appliance! What I am saying and what Girls Against Feminism (GAF) is about is the fact that women already have all the rights we need in Republican society and additional "rights" for women would come at the expense of men, at the expense of our current and future children and at the expense of society. We have the right to vote. We have the right to earn a living. We have the right to have as much sex as we want while we are young, single and hot. We have the right to get married and have a family, if we want to do that. We simply have everything that we need and maybe a few things that we don't need. We absolutely do not need an international terrorist movement that seeks to turn us into androgynous man-hating lesbians. We certainly don't need feminism and I hope the heroic men in our Armed Forces (which is, thankfully, still comprised entirely of men) crush the feminist conspiracy. Never again can such scum be permitted to murder a Consul.

Melthing 1 - 0 The Icemark

North Amherst, Melthing

Going into the game against Melthing, the Icemark found themselves sitting second in the table. On the other hand Melthing were rooted to the bottom of the standings, so the Icemark went into the contest as the overwhelming favourites. However it was the hosts that almost got off to a perfect start when their close-range header was spectacularly saved by Icemarkan goalkeeper Halvor Sigurdson.

That early chance was a rare bright spot in an otherwise drab first period, with both teams seemingly putting more emphasis on defence than opening the scoring. It wasn't surprising from either sides point of view that they were opting to play it safe. Melthing had conceded more goals than anyone in the group and the icemark are renowned defensive specialists.

The two front men for the Icemark, Markos Celeste and Kol Lindenshield, too often found themselves isolated against a resilient defence. Meanwhile both sets of midfielders were struggling to find space and creativity in a congested middle of the park. Drakon Stagapoulous looked most likely to force the issue for the Icemark, but looked a frustrated figure by the interval.

Icemarkan manager Erik Erikson appeared grateful for the sound of the half-time whistle, particularly considering his side failing to register a single attempt on goal thus far. The second half was a distinct improvement on the first and Melthing went close three times in quick succession. Then when Melthing had a volley fired just inches wide, the Icemark realised they were in real danger of letting this tie get away from them.

This roused the Icemark, and Kallias Eressos embarked on a mazy run that culminated in their first shot of the night. It was easily saved by the goalkeeper, but it was a start. The Icemark began to sense they could cause Melthing problems and another run, this time by Drakon Stagapoulous ended with a super save. Moments later Markos Celeste fired a free-kick straight at the keeper from 30 yards out.

The Icemark's fans were becoming restless at their failure to break the opposition down. Then the unthinkable happened. In the dying moments of the contest Melthing settled the tie with a towering header at the far post. The travelling support was stunned to silence as the jubilant home supporters went wild around them.

It's now two defeats in three games for the Icemark. Luckily for them Boring Paradise succumbed to Vettrera in an eight-goal thriller, so were unable to make up any ground on them. But next up the Icemark are hosting World Champions Vilita. In the reverse meeting the Icemark were humbled by a rampant Vilitan attacking force. The Icemark will go into the match as overwhelming underdogs, and will know they have to achieve something over the odds if they can hold off Boring Paradise from leapfrogging them in the standings again.

Jamms Beartholomew Urrsen, currently employed as a photographer for newspaper ‘The Bear Necessities’ (and sometimes known, in the versin of Reality from which he had originated, as “SuperBear’s Pal, Jammy Urrsen”), looked defensive.

“But it wasn’t me…” he muttered in protest.

“Oh? You’ve told us how often weird things happen around you,” replied reporter Florise Fane “and we’ve already has the ‘bear of living cheese’ incident back at the time of ourr girls’ first match against Paradystopia as proof of that, haven’t we? And all but one of the Belles suddenly getting reverted to about a third of their proper ages each, hrright in the middle of a match, certainly smells ‘weird’ to me…”

“That’s to me, I said that weird things happen to me, not around me” Jammy retorted, no longer just muttering.

“Hrreally? So if it wasn’t you, hwhat was it that caused that change? Ourr hosts over there in Cata Larga seemed as surprised as we were, so presumably it wasn’t something that they had arranged to give their own team an edge…”

“I honestly don’t know, for true… but that transformation did help them rrather, didn’t it?”

“Ayyuh, that it did.”

The two journalists sat in silence for a few moments, both of them remembering how that incident had changed the flow of the game and allowed the home team to scrape an unexpected draw that had left the Belles still only two points ahead of their group ‘first seeds’ Paradystopia despite the latter side also having managed to take home just one single point from their own tenth match during these qualifiers. Florise glanced briefly at the sheet of paper resting in her typewriter, as if hoping that its contents had changed to a more favourable report:

Goals
Bears Armed = 4: SunDaughter (#10) [2 = 05’; 27’]), Arrogh (#11) [1= 13’], Bruin (#21) [1 = 60’].
Cata Larga = 4: da Varaisca (#11) [1= 30’], Piescie (#22) [2= 34’; 47’], Lakiarta (#21) [1= 44’].

“Some come-back for the Cats, that was…” she eventually commented.

Jammy nodded his head from side to side in reluctant agreement. “Ayyuh, I suppose so. And it’s not as if ourr girls were pushovers even at those youthful ages: They still made their opponents work hard for those goals…"

“Not that they hadn’t been working them hard already before the change…”

“For true! The fact that three of the Cats’ four goals were scored by subs rrather than by starters should be enough to show that even to people who didn’t watch the actual match themselves…

“Still, though, if Stephanie Bruin had been turned back into a cub as well, hwhatever did that to the others, and hadn’t been there still fit to make a come-back for urrs too score the final equaliser after the Cats had managed to regain the lead…
Urrgah!”

“Ayyuh…
“Hr’rmm, I still wonder why Steph wasn’t affected like the rest…”

“So it’s
‘Steph’, is it? On terms that close with her, already, are you?”

Jammy looked as though he’d like to change the subject.
“Maybeso she wasn’t made any younger because she was already the youngest player in the team?” he cautiously suggested.

“Hr’rmm, maybeso.”

“So, anyhows, has there been any official announcement yet about hwhat the Belles will do about choosing players for their next game if the change hasn’t worn off again by then?”

“Not yet, no, there hasn’t.”

“Hr’rmm…

I’ve taken the names for Cata Larga’s goal-scorers from their BoF roster, in the absence of a separate WC list having been posted by them.

The times given for goals are in ‘moments’ (@ 64 to the ‘watch’, which means 64 in a normal-length game of football and half-time (during which that mysterious transformation happened to most of the Belles) therefore starting after 32…

Gregoryisgodistan in playoff position

With just four games remaining in World Cup qualifying, Gregoryisgodistan is in prime position to advance to the playoffs. Once they get there, anything could happen and the Foot Slaves could wind up qualifying for their first ever World Cup. Once there, they can show the world that Lord Almighty Gregory really is God and that he will smite the non-believers, or at least cause them to lose the World Cup. According to Lord Almighty Gregory, the Foot Slaves will win this World Cup and every World Cup thereafter, for it is what he, as God of the Multiverse, has willed. There will never be another World Cup champion besides Gregoryisgodistan. Never again.

But first, the Foot Slaves have to qualify. They currently sit in second place in Group 19, nine points back of Saintland for first, but five points ahead of Olastor and West Angola for second. The only tough match the Foot Slaves have left is at home against West Angola. They should easily win the other three matches. If they do that, the result of West Angola will be irrelevant and the Foot Slaves will be through to the playoffs no matter what happens. However, Gregoryisgodistan cannot allow their team to play a "trap" game where they are looking forward to the playoffs and play poorly, and wind up missing out on the playoffs altogether.

Lord Almighty Gregory announces plans to destroy Nexxus Drako

OOC: None of this is true. Lord Almighty Gregory is setting himself up to take personal credit for the destruction of Nexxus Drako. Of course, everyone in Gregoryisgodistan believes it.

Lord Almighty Gregory announced plans to completely destroy the heathen nation of Nexxus Drako at the conclusion of the World Cup qualifying if the whole nation does not convert to the Church of Gregoryisgodistan and recognize Lord Almighty Gregory as God Almighty. In a statement, Lord Almighty Gregory promised to detonate 10,000 of Gregoryisgodistan's solar-powered bombs over Nexxus Drako at the conclusion of World Cup qualifying if the whole nation does not convert. Each of these bombs has the strength of an atomic bomb and the 10,000 of them combined will completely destroy Nexxus Drako and kill everyone in it. Lord Almighty Gregory hopes that this will encourage other nations on the Enemy List to fear Gregoryisgodistan and recognize Lord Almighty Gregory as the God of the Multiverse who created everything.

It is highly unlikely that the entire heathen nation of Nexxus Drako will convert to the Church of Gregoryisgodistan so quickly, so it seems highly likely Nexxus Drako will be completely destroyed. Once it is destroyed by the solar-powered bombs, Lord Almighty Gregory will proclaim a day of rejoicing in Gregoryisgodistan with double prune juice and gruel rations for everyone. Of course, Nexxus Drako was added to the Enemy List after they executed a brave noble hero for killing the heathen poet Joshua Kevin after he wrote an insulting and blasphemous poem about Lord Almighty Gregory.

In a final warning to the Nexxus Drako government, Lord Almighty Gregory said "Death to Nexxus Drako! Death to the heathens! Heathens never learn. Therefore, we will drop all those solar-powered bombs on your nation and destroy you unless you can prove otherwise by having everyone in your nation recognize me as the True Lord. You have approximately four days. If you do not comply, it will be DEATH TO NEXXUS DRAKO! DIE DIE DIE!"

Climbing The Ladder Amidst The Chaos

Rozelle, BRENECIA---- A flag, that bears a resemblance to Hyfords, a team that contains all the promise that the Syndicate once had - this is Brenecia. As I write to you from Rozelle, an island nation in the north of Esportiva that all Syndicatians know well, (due to the numerous clashes we have had with them in the past) I celebrate a hard earned victory that finally, for the first time since Matchday 1, puts the team in with a shot at the playoffs. It’s nowhere near the slani sods of Rüntenbach, a team that’s been on top form, having not suffered any attacks of any sort (yet), and a team that’s five points clear at the top of the table.

We have the strength to carry on and steal the top spot from them, however. Last time the national team faced Rüntenbach, we weren’t even allowed to watch. This time, I at least will be, when they face at a demilitarised Sunrise Park in Burgess. On our home turf, the Syndicate should prove to be the better side, as a side that has a lot more experience and technical skill when they haven’t been probed by enemy border security the night before.

Anyway, I’m not here to discuss politics, for want of my life, so I’ll discuss the game against Brenecia. When they came to the Flynn Arena, they managed to hold us to a 2-2 tie in a well fought game that showed us that the team must never get too confident. This time, as soon as the starting bell rang, Oof! The team showed promise, and it seems that they discarded help from their fans. Their skills on the fresh pitch, say I, put Brenecia’s to shame quite quickly to begin, and I am a judge of skill, I like to believe. Our team forced the opponent to think very very carefully indeed in order to stop attacks, and I’m quite sure that many people will write about Pratt’s first long shot goal, that met the target, for a while yet! Roughly ten minutes later, though, we found enemy shots were placed quite well, and defence weak, and would meet our goal to tie the score. Fans cheered, booed. Caught me by surprise, but it seemed that Miriam Spitfire was both here and there for the defence, and it seems also uncertain for the goalkeeper. Terry Scott, the poor guy, honestly couldn’t really rescue the shot, and a lot like the collective to those rebels, the shot clanged past the goal. Half over, the bell rang.

So, at 1-1 after the first half, the second half began with much less rigour. A sleepy Brenecian side, confident that they could hold on to the tie like they did at the Flynn Arena, began to waver in the midfield. A cross from Allen to Fletcher provided the Syndicate with an ample opportunity at the start of the second half, but it wasn’t to be as Allbeck cleared it for the Brenecian side. Play was centred around the opposition’s half for much of the second half, but not before Morgan Underwood splintered a goal past Scott. The opposition cheered, but their cheers were silenced shortly after as Rhys West, who had been sent on in replacement for Mitchell, scored one goal from a brilliant long ball given from Baker, and also from a corner that occured in the final minutes of the game. At 3-2, the score line looked satisfying, and a Syndicate side were able to clinch a vital three points from the side sitting above them, knocking them down a peg and kicking us up. Will this give us the confidence boost to take us all the way to the top? As the saying often goes, only time will tell!

Not that we have much time left, anyway...

Patriarch Nicolaus was disappointed by the reaction he received from the S.I.T.H., but such a reaction was not entirely unexpected. The S.I.T.H., with their Dreamed Realm powers, would have been extremely useful allies for him, once he put into effect his plan to make the prophecy of a thousand-year temporal Kingdom of God a reality. Still, he was glad to have the Archbishop of Vaugania in attendance. But, if this Council was to result in a Church powerful enough to spread the True Faith far and wide, he would need more bishops in attendance than just the bishops already affiliated with the Ture Church and the Archbishop of the Vauganian Catholic Church. He decided to send a letter to every bishop, in every nation that he was aware of, asking them to attend his Council.

To: All Bishops who believe that Iesus Christus is the Son of God
From: Patriarch Nicolaus V of St. Petrus, True Church of Iesus Christus
Subject: An Invitation to the Ecumenical Council of St. Petrus

My Esteemed Brothers in Christus,

I am writing to invite you to the Ecumenical Council of St. Petrus. The Ecumenical Council of St. Petrus is intended to heal the Schisms in our Faith and restore a united Christendom. In these times, as Godlessness spreads throughout the multiverse, we need that more than ever. The divisions and doctrinal disputes that have plagued us for the past millennium have brought our Faith into disrepute and led the Lost astray into the clutches of Satanas. Only through Unity can we save our multiverse from evil.

I hope that you will join me in St. Petrus,

- Nicolaus V, Patriarch of St. Petrus

World Cup Qualifying Predictions

(SP) Just 4 days remain in World Cup Qualifying and our very own National Soccer Team has become the first of 48 teams to clinch a spot in, at least, the playoffs. Although it is impossible for anybody other than God to make reliable predictions, it seems that every media outlet is supposed to do this kind of thing these days. Therefore, we'll, reluctantly, do so.

Let's start at the obvious place to start: Group 1. The Northern Sunrise Islands currently lead with 25 points, Mizuyuki is 3 points behind them. Thatius is 4 behind Mizuyuki, HopNation 5 behind and Jeckland 8 behind. NSI and Mizuyuki are, without question, the strongest teams in this group, so its reasonable to pick them to finish 1-2. Since NSI has already beaten Mizuyuki on the road and maintains a 3 point advantage at the moment, we're going to pick them to win the group. Mizuyuki finishes second.

Group 2 features a tie at the top, at present. Sargossa and Farfadillis both have 22 points. Lymantatia is 3 back, Timbermunich 6 back, Mangolana 8 back and Electrum 9 back. It is somewhat surprising that Mangolana has performed so poorly, given that they were a contender not too long ago, but there is no way they're making up an 8 point deficit in 4 matches. This seems to be a 3-way race, with Sargossa, Farfadillis and Lymantatia as clearly the 3 strongest teams in the group. Sargossa and Farfadillis have faced each other twice already, with each having won 3 goals to 2 at home. Sargossa leads on goal difference, +12 to +11. Its extremely hard to pick between those 2, but Farfadillis has the easier remaining schedule, since they have already played both matches against Lymantatia. Lymantatia has just a loss while the other teams have lost twice, but Lymantatia has had a significant number of draws, which is always a bad sign. We're picking Farfadillis to win the group by 2 points (due to a Sargossa draw against Lymantatia), with Sargossa second.

Group 3 has a clear leader in Vilita, the defending champions. With no qualifying matches against the Sanctii or against a certain notorious international terrorist organization that, unfortunately, originated within our Kingdom this time around, Vilita's draw problems in recent World Cups have ceased. Instead, they have won 9 out of 10 matches so far, although they were embarrassed by the Gregoryisgodistan Special Administrative Zone, a second Gregoryisgodistani team comprised of some close personal friends of the Infernus-bound dictator, who seemingly have very little in the way of soccer talent. The Icemark, on the other hand, has been one of the biggest surprises in this World Cup. Famous for their Swamp Soccer World Cups (the last one featured the Saintland National Team eliminating some shape-shifting Equestrian criminals and a team of soccer-playing pythons before falling to Cassadaigua's best male soccer players in the final), the Icemark has somehow managed to start 7-0-3 and secure 21 points, putting them 6 back of Vilita. Boring Paradise is 3 off the pace. Shockingly, Kinitaria is 5 points off the pace. Vettrera is 6 off. There is no question that Vilita will win this group and likely qualify straight through to the finals. They are the defending World Cup champions and ranked #2 in the KPB rankings. They simply aren't going to blow a 6 point lead with 4 matches to go. The big question, however, is who will manage to finish second. The Icemark has lost 2 of their last 3 matches, including their last match to an especially weak Melthing side, and seem to be fading. The only remaining contender that has no upcoming matches against Vilita is Kinitaria, who is also done playing Boring Paradise (whom they split with). However, Boring Paradise has already faced the Icemark and Kinitaria twice. We're picking Boring Paradise to pull off a shocking upset and deny Kinitaria, who recently fired their foreign manager Melody Pond of Jeruselem, a spot in the playoffs. The Icemark will put up a valiant effort, but the playoffs are just too far for them, as an unranked team.

Group 4 is currently led by Osarius. Osarius has 25 points and is widely considered the strongest team in that group. Taeshan is second at 21, with Kazamatsuri 2 off the Taeshani pace. Greater Watford and Zackalantis are 7 back and Monkeykind is still, technically alive at 10 back. We can safely dismiss the qualification prospects of anybody outside of the top 3 and it seems rather likely that Osarius, which has already played both matches against both Taeshan and Kazamatsuri, will go on to win this group. Today's match between Kazamatsuri and Taeshan, in Kazamatsuri, will be a decisive match in this group. Kazamatsuri famously upset the Sanctii back in World Cup 66 qualifying, but otherwise have never really been a serious contender to qualify for the World Cup. We have to pick our neighbors from Rushmore to win that match, even on the road, and all but secure their spot in the playoffs.

Group 5 is one of the most lopsided of all qualifying groups. On top is Jeruselem, who has managed 9 victories and a draw thus far, a much more dominant performance than the one that they have put up in recent cycles. They currently sit on 28 points. 10 points back of them are Nexxus Drako and New Montreal States, who are tied at 18. Nova Anglicana sits 2 points off that pace, with Westfield House the only other serious contender at 4 back. 2 other nations are still, technically, alive but neither of them is considered a remotely serious contender for qualification. There can be no doubt that Jeruselem will win this group, even though all 4 of their toughest opponents still remain on their schedule. Nexxus Drako holds the tiebreaker over New Montreal States due to HTH results, but Nova Anglicana would win a 2-way tie with the Drakons. Outside of Jeruselem and the hapless 0-0-10 team at the bottom of the group, everybody in this group seems to be involved in draws on a rather frequent basis. The strongest of the 3 teams contending for second place is clearly New Montreal States. Nova Anglicana is a good defensive-minded team, but we just can't see them beating out NMS, given the sheer talent of the team from the only World Cup 64 host nation still competing.

Group 6 sees Ko-oren on top with 28 points, 8 points ahead of Svengarda. One can safely assume that Ko-oren will coast into the World Cup. Last cycle, they were one of the more dominant teams in qualifying, but managed to lose consecutive playoffs, ending up outside of the World Cup. We don't expect that to happen to them again. Svengarda has a 1 point edge against Zenic, with Darvale 3 behind them. The Crystal Umpires (OOC: Intentional misspelling of Crystal Empire) are 8 back. Somebody is 11 back, but they aren't going to make the playoffs. The Crystal Umpires, apparently a country that provides umpires to the domestic baseball league of the Equestrian States, is clearly not a serious contender to ever qualify for a World Cup, so we'll dismiss them. That leaves Svengarda and 2 relatively inexperienced, but talented teams vying for the spot. Darvale still has to play Ko-oren, so we don't see them making it, but the SP is picking Zenic to pull off the upset and sneak into the playoffs.

Group 7 has to be the most surprising group out of all of them, so far. HorusLand is actually leading the group at 23 points. Legalese and Antoletia are tied for second with 22. The Vakolicci, a nation of talented athletes (just look at their dominance at the King Paulus XV Memorial Games), are fourth, 6 points back of second. Gloriax and Mosktopia are officially still alive, but really are all but eliminated. Scouts who have watched the group have said that the level of competition in Group 7 is surprisingly weak, with many calling this group one of the weakest groups in quite some time. While the Republicans got all the headlines throughout the multiverse at World Cup 68, Legalese also performed well surprisingly well and seem to be weaker than their KPB would indicate. Antoletia tends to be competitive every cycle, but wouldn't be considered one of the top candidates to break through the glass ceiling. HorusLand is also not particularly known as a prolific World Cup power. Yet, the Vakolicci seem to be under-performing in this group and somehow less energetic than their usual selves. If the Legalites were truly as good as their ranking, surely they'd be dominating such a lightly-regarded group. If Blacksen Domination of the Vakolicci showed the same passion in World Cup Qualifying that he showed for making terroristic threats to the St. Petrus Chief of Police, maybe his country would be leading this group right now. However, what might have been or should have been is irrelevant. Legalese and Antoletia are the top 2 teams in this group, so we're going to pick them to advance. Legalese crushed Antoletia 5 goals to 1 in their first meeting, but we're taking Antoletia to pull off the upset at home and finish first in the group. HorusLand finishes 3rd, edging out the Vakolicci by a small margin. Of the 2, however, we would consider Legalese more likely to win their playoff.

Group 8 features the Federation of Free Republics, runners-up of the last World Cup. The Republicans have been, without a doubt, a team on the rise for a while. They have been dominant in Di Bradini Cups and U-15 World Cups, but never really put it together in WCC tournaments. Back in World Cup 67, they somehow survived a surprisingly tough group and then managed to go deeper into the 59th Cup of Harmony than our own National Team did, which surprised us. Then, they shocked everybody but themselves with their performance in World Cup 68, with 31 other nations intent on teaching them some respect and 30 out of those 31 utterly failing at that task. The Republicans came into this edition of qualifying expecting to qualify easily and treating both San Jose Guayabal and The Sarian, up-and-coming Esportivan sides, as if they were a couple of one-and-done minnows too incompetent to even release a roster. After suffering an early defeat in San Jose Guayabal, the Republicans spent over a week out of first place. Even though they managed to defeat The Sarian, they soon fell into third place after a notorious terrorist assassinated their Consul (days after the other Consul had died, of natural causes) and unsuccessfully attempted to assassinate the leading candidate to be their next Consul, getting caught in the process. She would later be extradited to our Kingdom and burned at the stake on international television. In the chaos, the Republicans lost to an opportunistic Miley World team and fell to third. However, their fortunes have turned around over the past few days, with the Republicans now sitting on 24 points and leading the group. Their "victory" yesterday against San Jose Guayabal should show everybody the lengths to which they are willing to go to win a critical match. The Sarian is second, a point behind the Republicans. San Jose Guayabal is 3 points back of Sarian, with Hutt River and Miley World both 9 back. We're picking the Republicans to win this group. They're refocused and they've already won at the Sarian, so we expect them to do the same at home, probably without need of underhanded tactics. This group will come down to the final day when The Sarian travels to San Jose Guayabal. We expect both of them to come in even on points and are picking the home team to win and finish second in the group.

Group 9 sees the Blouman Empire sitting on 26 points. The Royal Barangay is second at 22. Carialus sits 3 back, with Nassau-Hessen behind by 4. Torisakia trails by 9. We would rank those teams in that order. Out of the top 4, the only one to have faced Blouman twice so far is Nassau-Hessen. Carialus has already faced the Barangay twice. We have to pick the Blouman Empire to win the group, although probably outside of the top 12 group winners, with Royal Barangay finishing second.

Group 10 is another rather surprising group, so far. Sandwich Territories lead with 26 points. The Quebecois are sitting on 23. Pasarga, a semi-finalist at World Cup 68, is somehow in third place, a point behind Quebec. Nouvel Ecosse is 10 back and everybody else is eliminated. All 3 serious contenders must play one another in upcoming matches, which will take place on the final 3 days of Qualifying. Quebec has already lost at home to Sandwich Territories and played Pasarga to a draw at home. Sandwich Territories hosts both of their most difficult upcoming opponents at home, which is sufficient reason to expect them to hold on, narrowly, despite being (on paper) the weakest of these 3 teams. However, we're picking Pasarga to finish a close second, likely by a narrow margin over Quebec. Nobody will want to play them in the playoffs.

Turori sits atop Group 11 with 26 points and will, almost certainly, win that group. Their primary remaining obstacles are a home match against Sicoutimont today and a visit to Starblaydia on the last matchday. Sicoutimont currently sits at 23 points. Starblaydia is 3 behind them. Kitsunia-Deese has slim hopes at 7 back and Itanpavia awaits only official elimination after being crushed 7 goals to nil in their last match at Sicoutimont. Although Starblaydia is not in their strongest form at the moment, they do hold the tiebreaker against Sicoutimont. We expect them to upset Turori on the final day to finish tied on points with Sicoutimont. Starblaydia will finish second, but only on a tiebreaker. Once they're in the playoffs, anything can happen, as the multiverse found out back in World Cup 63.

Group 12's best team is the Archregimancy, a team that won Cup of Harmony 60 even though they were trying to lose all of their matches. So far, they have not been beaten in qualifying this time around, but they have 4 draws and just 22 points. It looks like they're heading to a playoff, but they aren't going to finish worst than first in this group. Glaser is currently second at 19 points. Karditan and Hicana are a point behind them, with Cosumar back 3. While we wouldn't pick any of those teams to actually win a playoff, Karditan probably has the inside track to second place, since they have already played Archregimancy twice. However, if the group of heretics calling themselves S.I.T.H. (you can read the SP's condemnation of them here) manages to cause enough of a distraction, maybe Karditan and Hicana will both advance instead.

Who will we pick for the remaining 12 groups? You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out (along with what revisions we would make to our picks, based on today's results)...

SHIT I HATE - A DISGRUNTLED JECKLANDER'S BLOG

Hi, I'm a 25 year old Jeckish male. I'm not telling you my name, or anything more about me, expect that I am very grumpy most of the time, and there's a lot of shit in this world that annoys me. If I moan about it in real life, then I'm a raving bastard, but here on the Internet you don't have to read what I say, so here goes

Today I will discuss sayings, and why they are complete bullshit.

1) An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Clearly not. Are apples the only thing we need to survive? Of course not. If they were, life would be a lot simpler, but oh no. "Hey Jim, why haven't you drunk anything fro 3 days and you are now dunking your balls into pirahna infested water!" "I ate an apple today." "Oh that's fine then, you'll be safe!". You know, I bet this saying was made up by some grocer in an attempt to sell his rotting apples. "They may be brown on this inside, but they protect against food poisoning!" Fuck off.

2) Two birds with one stone.
Two things wrong with this one. Firstly, most birds are fast motherfuckers. Those little ones that perch on your fence will fly away if you walk within a ten metre radius of them. Good luck hitting one with a stone, especially two. And secondly, why the fuck are you stoning a bird anyway? That's horrible and cruel. You bastard. You could probably be locked in prison for that, owing to The Protecting Flowers and Birds and Sunshine and Rainbows and Cute Baby Animals and Marshmallows Act or something like that. Just let some farmer twat electrocute them, and do something else with your time while you wait for dinner.

3) Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
First off, what the fuck is a gift horse? Is it like that one from Jeckish folklore, the Trajen Horse or something like that. In which case, if you looked at it's mouth you'd have seen all the little soldiers in there and you could've murdered the sneaky cunts. Or maybe gift horse is some sot of a disease, like rabies, so it bites you if you look at it's mouth. In which case this is utterly useless advice. You don't see the froth and shit until you look at it's mouth, and by then it's charging at you sinking it's horsey teeth into you and you have rabies. This is why I hate Equestrian States.

4) Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
Well this doesn't apply to most of us, since we buy our eggs, in those nice boxes. I refuse to call them cartons, since they are different to the things that hold juice. And do farmers really use baskets anymore? They have fucking machines for everything, they probably have one to squeeze a cow's dangly bit. Even if some caveman farmers still use baskets, they should put them in one basket, then instead of spending loads of money on a basket for every bloody egg they could buy a good basket without holes in it. It's basic economics.

5) Don't count your chickens before they've hatched.
What is it with all these farmer sayings? I suppose farmers have more time on their hands to think of these things while they watch their cow milking machine. And more eggs? If there are so many of them what's the big deal with them dying? You just get a smaller chicken dinner. You can feed it to your kid, unless it didn't hatch either. What's the big deal about chickens anyway? You gotta feed em sawdust and all your going to do in the end is see if you can hit two with one stone you vicious mother fucker. Again, that's illegal in most countries, but in Gregoryisgodistan if you cooked it for that Greg cunt he'd give you some more gruel to eat. Whoops, I meant to say rat sick.

Carialus Bugle

Do not fear, Carialites! The Comrades have picked themselves up from the valley of despair and now hold their heads high! Over the last two Matchdays, Carialus has proven they have what it takes to maintain their position, and even try to shoot for 2nd. The Comrades moral was booming after the won against the Royal Barangay 4-3 at Capital Field. After that, the happy squads of players traveled to Green Highland, an easy win. However, they were met with stunning opposition. Even when the Comrades first entered the stadium, they were met with a surprise. Despite Green Highland's last place in Group 9, the stadium was absolutely packed with supporters for the home team. The noise was deafening was was a definite distraction the the players for Carialus. The game got underway and Carialus seemed almost in a daze from the loudness of the stadium. A few minutes in and a Striker for the Highlanders narrowly missed a goal from distance. Suddenly, lowly ranked Green Highland took control of the game and unleashed shot after shot onto poor Kassis. The midfielders of Carialus were forced into their side of the pitch by the offensive, something they were not used to. The only other time this happened during qualifying was against Blouman Empire. A Green Highland midfielder chipped thee ball into the box, it bounced off of their strikers chest, and trickled in the goal. The stadium grew louder, almost to loud to hear the officials negate the play in the name of offsides. This was a lucky call for Carialus, and proved to also be a wake up call. Carialus wrestled the possession of the ball from Green Highland and turned on their high intensity offense. The midfielders quickly scrambled up field but were met with some unusually stiff defense. There were a few rough players on Green Highland and they took advantage of the officials lax judgement. One of the defenders tackled Arneson roughly and was flagged by the official. Arneson stayed down and had to be put on a stretcher to leave the pitch. Upon further analysis, Arneson was discovered to have a torn ACL and will be out for the rest of the cycle. It's a pity that it had to have resulted from foul play. The same player was given another yellow in the game and will now be forced to sit out a few games with a red card. The half ended with no score.

L'Hiver replaced Arneson for the 2nd and play continued on. Neither team did much, as Carialus was wounded from the loss of one of their midfielders and Green Highland was down a player from a Red Card. Soon, the midfield wall was able to form up and slowly drag the ball into Highland territory. A quick pass from Dumont to Frost allowed Carialus a chance to score, but the Goal Keeper punched the ball out of play. Fuller took the resulting corner and delivered a perfect kick into the box. Frost was able to jump up and head the ball to the goal, but once again the Keeper blocked it. The ball spun out of the box, strait to Dumont. Dumont kicked the ball hard to the goal. In a daring move, Frost intercepted the ball mid-flight and headed the ball away from the Goal Keeper for a score. After this, Carialus continued to provide offensive pressure, but Green Highland's defense clamped down. This was fine with Carialus zas they were in the lead and was enjoying the possession of the ball. In stoppage time, Green Highland attempted a few tricks but Carialus stopped the short and ended the game at a measly 1-0 win for Carialus, leaving fans with a score more similar to that of Chiata instead of Carialus.

With two hard fought wins, moral was higher than ever. Even better, Carialus' next game would be a home game. The Jamsinia Islands traveled to Capital Field to try to produce an upset. Last time around, the Comrades had beat The Jasminia Islands on their own turf, so this game should be a cake walk. But wasn't the Green Highland game supposed to be easy too? Carialus put nothing to chances and started out the game with all out offensive pressure. The Jasminians lead by Rhodes seemed baffled at Carialus' unbalanced formation and found it hard to keep up with the Comrades. Quickly, Frost knocked a goal in, much to the frustration from the shocked McConnel, Keeper for Jasminia. The Comrades continued to control possession and the New Saints found it hard to even get a few minutes with the ball. With more utter frustration from the Jasminia side, Frost weaved his way in the box again and scored on a deflection off of McConnel's legs. McConnel now seemed shell shocked after being scored on so quickly. Carialus wasn't about to call it a game, though. The Comrades continued to play offensively and continued to produce a tremendous amount of shots on Jasminia. Lelek shot a long pass over to Larnia, who scored from out of the box. Infuriated, Jasminia's coach pulled McConnel and put in Bischoffs at Goal Keeper. A simple change of Keeper did little to stop the Comrades' onslaught. Midfielders were getting down the sides of the box and were making wonderful cross opportunities for the Strikers to try to score, once more, on Jasminia. Once again, Lelek delivered a precise pass straight into the box where Fuller pounded the ball in for a 4th score on Jaminia. Halftime was the only relief Jasminia received and during this time, many fans left the game, as they could not bare to see their team lose this badly.

In a mercy call, Coach Bet rested Frost, Kovalcik, and Lelek. To take their placed, forward Pereria and midfielders Rassognal and Boiyvin were put in the game. With three starting midfielders off the pitch, and without the guidance of Frost, Carialus' offense stuttered. Of course, they had room to do so considering they were winning 4-0. The game slowed down as Carialus seemed to play cat and mouse with a struggling Jasminia squad. The Comrades' midfielders would allow Jasminia to gain possession before having it being taken away by a rough tackle. Coach Bet grew angry with this conduct and told them to stop. However, before he could do so, Brissa was given a Yellow and the penalty gave Rhodes a kick at the edge of the box. He chipped the ball up over the wall and the ball spun out of reach of the reach of Kassis and into the goal. Jasminia had finally scored, but off of a penalty. Even after a score, Carialus' defense was lax with a 3 goal deficit and they allowed a second goal, this time by Niles. Carialus soon shaped up after being yelled at by their coach and the game ended with Carialus cruising onto a 4-2 victory.

OOC: As usual, on mobile and rushed. And yes, this is a Florican controlled network, because I haven't used this disclaimer yet this WC, just a reminder that I disagree with 90% of the Florican Party's actions, in particular the ones peterning to homosexuality.

Hello and welcome to SNN news, I'm Sara Blanc across the SNN network, in the news this morning:

The Chief Executive has announced plans for a revamping of The Sarian dating system, while previously The Sarian has worked in the universally accepted Common Era, it has come to light that a new era, AF or After Florican would be adapted, placing us in the year 3 AF.

Yttribian attacks on San Jose Guayabal have been commended by the Executive Council, speaking on behalf of the Executive Office for War and the Armed Forces was War Under-executive, François Davies, "These attacks were justified and carried out in a professional and efficient manner by our close allies."

A man has been arrested for possession of homosexual erotica, the first case of its kind in six months. This sesensible law was brought in by the Florican Party three years ago in order to protect children, and has so far seen over 1000 arrests. The man, who has not be named, is likely to face the death penalty when he is found guilty.

The Chief Executive was present, alongside members of the Armed Forces and the public to witness the naming ceremony of the Sarian Imperial Navy's new Type 104 Destroyer, ISS Ironborn, the ship will undergo sea trials before joining the Esportivan Fleet.

The War Office has recalled the Destroyer, ISS Tench from service with the Felixian Navy, in order to boost the offensive in the Liberation of Lojal, the War Office currently has four ships and one submarine assisting our grand allies.

Preparations for the World Lacrosse Championship, to be held next year in The Sarian and Vintomter are on schedule, says the Culture Office, Executive Councilman for Sports and Culture, Olyver Bryant spoke to SNN on SportsMorning with Wil Cousins, "preparations are ahead of schedule and all the anarchists, undoubtedly communists and homosexuals, who say otherwise are mistaken."

And finally, The Sarian National Football Team drew a crunch match against Miley World, limiting the sides ability to qualify for the 69th World Cup. The teams manager was declared dead after a supernatural attack moments before the kick off. Assistant Manager and former Sarian Captain, Wiley Tyrell will manage the squad until a replacement is named.

That is the news headlines, join us at 10 for a full news roundup.

On The Lash With The Lads

Davies Out!

A shocking call some may say, after he masterminded a victory over the best team, not only in the group, but in the world. And who is leading us on our most prolific campaign in terms of goals scored. Yet at the same time he has just led the team off the back of a victory against the worlds best to a defeat against the unranked side who we put ten, yes ten, goals passed on the last time out.

The man has lost his touch. He only leads the team to a performance against those better than us. It could be said all he is doing is bolstering his CV before finding a new job, after all he has had ample chance to take Kalumba to the next level after the breakout victory in the Baptism of Fire, and a couple of play off appearances he has achieved nothing. He had at his disposal a few campaigns back one of the most exciting young squads in the nations history, and he has squandered it.

First off he left them out in favour of his veterans, and then only let them into the team one by one and they have never fully gelled. This campaign when they should be at their very best together, they are in fact making their first full appearance together. Some are past their prime and others are yet to hit it. Davies has blown it.

I'm not going to be on the terraces barracking for his dismissal, as an ungrateful few are, but I will here and away from the stadium. Back the lads in the stadium, blame the man outside.

Mr Spleen

Pisshead's views aren't necessarily ours, and we as a fanzine have no official view on Davies' position, so don't send us abuse or support. Just keep drinking and chatting shit.

OOC: I once said in the "factbook and national information"section of the forum that Miley World has a supernatural entity called The Great Croque-Monsieur, it's a kind of oracle.

Image

A draw against The Sarian

Miley World played against The Sarian at home at Estadio Azteca in Zacatlan, Tennessee and the game ended with a 1-1 draw against The Sarian. The manager of The Sarian, Jack Parker, died unexplicably before the kickoff. The SBI (Smiler Bureau of Investigation) is actually investigating about his death and all signs points to a supernatural attack and The Great Croque-Monsieur of Miley World is suspected. The Great Croque-Monsieur is famous for his predictions, and he notably predicted that Miley World will win the World Cup 123.

The game started with a 30 mins delay and Dodô has been phenomenal throughout the game having made 8 saves but he failed to stop Ross Horn's shot at the 32nd minute. Miley World tied the game at the 61st minute when Grégory Dedieu scored on a beautiful pass by Vladimir and the final score was 1-1. In other games, Free Republics beat San Jose Guayabal 2-1.

Red Blackiland Week Football/Soccer Bolletin

Red Blackiland winned Green Highland at Red Glorious and reached 8 points

Image

The above photo traduzed all about the previous matchday for Red Blackiland, day of mass mobilization of the fans,to support the team road to a important match and a win.A Match Rival in whick we don't know much about it because the big level of conservationism of the Green Highland's team.
The players were confident to get three points and reach to the 8 points, for the first time, was being a good campaign for the team that experiencing a first worldwide experience,in Qualifiers.
Peter Valbuena maintained the actual formation as always, the team showed more mesh and consequently more fast and elaborated attacks and more fast defense-to-attack integration.
The match was the more productive for Red Blackiland, produced much attacks than other matches with more precise positioning, working the possession of ball,in begin opted for attack for the sides of the field and from there the team begin the attack that originate the first goal of Red Blackiland,Juliano Matheus dribbled the Green Highland right-side-midfielder and crossed to the middle of the area,Carmona head up,the goalkeeper saved it , but , after , Felipinho scored to the goal in minute 10.
The team controlled ball possession, produced attacks, hit the post two times in minute 16 and 20 of the first half, great saves by Green Highland goalkeeper and 'very losed' chances and the team scored the second goal in minute 19 of second half,Carmona launch a long pass and Felipinho scored with the head to the left-side of the defensive area of Green Highland,Valbuena makes a crossed shoot to hit the post, third time in this game, and Juliano Matheus scored to the net.
Green Highland attacked few times, the more dangerous attack from these attacks, was when Hargreaves maked a great save from a very near shoot, being necessary much reflections to make it.

Image

30,500 fans attended to the yesterday's game against Green Highland in Red Glorious Stadium(that have a 52,000 capacity) in a rainy day in the country with low temperatures different than the other half in the year that is common to occur rain in the end of the day and high temperatures during the day.
The Dark Lions train express worked well during all the day, before and after the match, reduced the time of travel of the fans to the stadium and the return to your homeplaces, preventing disorders, maintain the organization and the confort of the supporters.
A good standard enacted from a association of the Federation and the Government, more preciselly the Departament of Sports.

Image

The curious of the match,is a small group of protesters came from other country states in Red Blackiland, more preciselly : Port Tudor,Cruce Estrella and Meskitáh requiring more importantion in the politic scenario of the politic representative of Red Blackiland, even the each country state have your autonomy to make your constitution, respecting the limits of Federal Constitution, respecting your political autonomy.

Image

More other home match for Red Blackiland, and is a important match because open the probablity of the team reach to 11 points in a first time, but we know this challenge is very hard against a more consolidated team,Carialus that is a Chiata's territory with autonomy in football/soccer and herited the willpower Chiata spyrit.
In the first half of the Qualifiers matchdays,Red Blackiland losed to Carialus in the Capital Field, rest for the team have the same competence that had in the previous match and put it again in the next match, with a little tactical adaption and this is work from Peter Valbuena that said will have a few changes in the team, but don't said it to the press and maintain secrecy.
The Carialus coach,Bet tested a few players and maked a few changes in the blue and yellow team in the few games, can surprise the Red Blackilandians in this game too, perhaps this is the reason of the Peter Valbuena's secrets.
The team have a good rate of results in home matches, more than away matches, could Red Blackiland take advantage from home atmosphere and crowd to win a more one match? Carialus will be a hard rival in the match, but remember : We believe,We can,the our black translate your bravure!
The R.B.A.F make a promotion, when you buy a ticket for the game you have a 50% off tax to the next game,we don't need high ticket prices, against the modern football! That is valid for the vs. Carialus game!

See you soon!

OOC: Context of this RP can be found here also is RPed in first person by the below details.

Olden Stadium, Falkamore, Nejax, Free Republics.

Juan Hernandez, a resident in Neryungri fan who made the trip to FFR tells the experience on the whole trip, including the impressive moments and the not so good, that in the company of Rutilius Saavedra, a curious fan and Mario Moreira, a fan adventurer like campfires and fire, a stray written adventures of one of them, on the plane that returned to SJG staff.
Many of us in condition of fans traveling to Free Republics ultimately would not be an easy trip due to the long distances and the flights that seem to never end or landing that never happened, then moments where you felt bored or wanted to stand , we Falkamore, a city that was quite large compared to some cities I've visited in SJG, much bigger than my home Neryungri. Many fans of FFR were in the streets, we were at least a significant minority of 12,000 who decided to go together to buy tickets despite having no reservations or even have a vague idea about how was the environment in terms of sales we went to the lockers.

Was a great atmosphere that prevailed when we got to the place to buy tickets, many of us carry chairs camping stores and even if evening and have to get up early to buy tickets and guarantee us a seat for the party. Many fans of SJG protesting the high ticket prices, for the simple fact of being foreign did not mean he had to literally "get us an eye" to go to see a football game. Pressure from the fans was imminent and as was imagined a riot where we arm ourselves with courage and claim to sellers who placed tickets at regular price, stones and sharp objects flying from one place to another, many fans were enraged plucked but luckily the sellers agreed to the cry of the masses to lower the price of tickets and thus calmed down even before the police intervened in the matter.

Many fans bought but unfortunately many had to park the place to buy the last tickets for the game, no one wanted to be left without a ticket in hand due to the long distance traveled, then run out the entrance was literally traveling for pleasure and not travel to support the national team in unconditionally as many did. Some fans like me decided to build campfires and witness the spectacular night sky in the city, many stars came and went that night making a real show astronomical for us.
Dawned and all fans of SJG present took advantage of sellers who were in the contours were many but can not cope, it's more not surprise me if they had pillaged the merchants, I ignored that and I ventured to buy my tickets , skipping positions in line to seize the moment of madness of the other fans with food.

It was already late and I along with my friends decided to go into the stadium to our seats away and talk to more fans on daily life in the "world's most beautiful nation." No doubt many fans of SJG entered with "illegal" items in the "freest nation in the world" self-proclaimed, if sharps objects and even illegal fireworks, lit in front of the police who did nothing or at least something at that, something that speaks a little sick of the police forces of this nation but anyway, I do not live by their laws or political matters, as not even speak of the Communist Party of SJG financed his counterpart in FFR game, I finally worth a damn.

The game was starting after we show to the Republicans the culture of hatred against FFR, finally booed the national anthem of the country while fans of FFR respect the national anthem of SJG, which was literally heard in every corner of the stadium due to the force with which it was sung in a way that seemed to inspire players, they knew they had the unfailing support of the fans with them.

Many of us were nervous about the game, many could not sleep from the anxiety caused by this, but at least SJG seemed to be playing pretty strong in intensity, playing valiantly but unfortunately were not sufficient effort by the team that missed three shots in just twenty minutes.

Some of us were scared in the way the game FFR reactionary even heard some gunfire in adjoining rooms but they were drunk fans celebrating for no apparent reason, something that made her laugh to the crowd of fans who sang his SJG team a traditional song "you are my soul, you are my life, to take all parts joy ...." a song that was heard but was appeased by the songs of the Republicans for obvious reasons which 80,000 throats were better than 12,000. Despite that both groups of fans arecían be in constant conflict to see who it was that sang best.

The time constant insanity seemed to come near, SJG played with greater intensity and the fans began to grital goal!Goal! for the sake of the team cause some mental reaction. The goal came through that shot from the penalty spot by Zelaya, a goal where Faña had much to do with the pass he gave before the shot, we definitely burst into jubilation, we threw flares and contómetro role for engramillado as a sign of euphoria, even some of the fans came to hang from the mesh divider between the pitch and the stands, the players celebrated with us while you could see a little anger from Republicans, which was negligible because the laws of life you say "the joy is another's sorrow and anger of others."

Arrived at halftime of the game and I could see as dragging the árbiro with pushing and kicking into a dark room and that did not happen but according to what he told me my friend Rutilius, said that things did not go as they were planned based on the intention of fixing the game, saying that if they followed the scosas his life would be in danger. Rutilius did not know how to infiltrate the fourth condition meque but I believed what he said, which spread like wildfire among the fans who were noticing that could see a "fishy" about this.

The game started and as time progressed I felt more in the words that Rutilius told me a couple of minutes ago many plays in which the referee declared offside when in fact the player was not offside were enough to confirm what was said by my friend, meanwhile crazy of Mario, enlisted fireworks and molotov cocktails with unknown reasons, perhaps to get rid of the anger of the moment, but at least SJG was winning.

The madness started when FFR tied the game missing the final fifteen minutes, a clear Faredin Pozenel ruled offside, unleashing the fury of some sector misfits masquerading as "fans" who threw stones onto the pitch, injuring FFR that three policemen as he had previously, did little or nothing to such a physical attack.

Most fans are indignant and what they did was insulting the referee with chants of "How much money you got .... You ought to be ashamed" and even occasional use of flares to the field by the misfits or "ultras "as they call themselves.

Bernard Lukic had delivered the ball to the feet of Theodore Koby. Before long one of the defenders made accidental Contact with Theodore's shin and the Republican striker fell to the ground, putting on a performance that could be categorized as best seen in our lives, it may not make such a drama in the theaters, more so in the soap operas but it was a performance of elite level in terms of footballing theater.

The referee Awarded to James Moreira a red card and a penalty kick to the FFR. Koby Theodore, somehow, made a miraculous recovery and stepped up to take the penalty. A Perfectly placed penalty kick found its way into the net. The Free Republics took a 2 goals to 1 advantage in causing more anger SJG fans, this time was not just the misfits, but we were all we were outraged at such affront to the dignity of football. Just minutes later, Rodolfo Zelaya was called offside equalizer When It Was Clearly onside. It was clear: The referee was playing ball with Sheriff Akram and I was not going to allow the visitors to leave Nejax with anything to show for it, that definitely broke the water in the glass and created the game was ended due to flood stones, molotov cocktails and even flares were thrown onto the pitch, attempts to invade the pitch were contained and decided to get us all to prevent that is to be outside more.

Had no choice to go home with the disappointment of losing the national team, it certainly was horrible for us all, besides being outrageous for us because such roll over fans who paid expensive trips to see the selection and we waste money on a game and managed by the leaders of FFR, a low blow for Guayabalense players. I hopefully want that they achieve emotional recover from that ridiculous sight to be put on theatrical scene, but know that one day justice will prevail to the FFR corruption, but I can say that Life is Life.

EDITS: Grammar.

*OOC: Playing on having a silent lurking out of sight on the Eastfield Lodge substitute bench...*

"...twenty minutes to go here, and it looks as though that now the burden of expectancy has been shaken off the Sloths, they may be on the brink of their first point against one of the top four teams in the group. It is a backs against the wall job, though, because Eastfield Lodge really need to win to keep the pressure on the top two."

"They are a bizarre bunch of creatures that make up the team, aren't they?"

"Well, they appear to be from a variety of species, but that's not something to hold against them, is it?"

"No, Jenny."

"As the clearance from Jones goes only as far as Pyrovile, who has been so strong for Eastfield Lodge today."

"Like a rock, you might say."

"Well, not like a rock. He is a rock."

"So he's definitely like a rock, then."

"No, Kev. Not is like one. Simply is one."

"Is a rock?"

"Kev, sometimes I think you forget that there is such diverse life across the multiverse... as the ball is crossed into the box, to Doctor, through on goal... the shot goes wide!"

"That was a heart-stopping moment, wasn't it?"

"Well, where Doctor is involved, you could say a "hearts-stopping moment", if you know what I mean?"

"I don't."

"OK, so you know how Pyrovile is made of rock?"

"Tough, but OK..."

"Well, Doctor has two hearts."

"Ah, OK."

"You don't seem quite so amazed by that."

"Well, cows have four stomachs. Spiders have loads of eyes. So why wouldn't he?"

"Because you... you struggle to... never mind. Anyway, the goal kick has seen Eastfield Lodge win the ball again. Raston is just too quick, though its ball control is letting it down. If it could control the ball at that speed, it would be unplayable, but time and again tonight, it has proven that it can't. But the ball goes to Harkness, on to Doctor, Harkness... gorgeous chip, but over the bar. Twenty-two minutes left, and a substitute is coming on for Eastf..."

- - -

"Jenny... Where have all the players gone?"

"I'm sorry... but they were there the last thing..."

"So where were we?"

"I have no idea. But the game appears to be over, the scoreboard says Eastfield Lodge 0 - 1 Schiavonia, with the scorer listed as Chester on 89 minutes.

"So what just happened?"

"We won!"

"Yay!!!"

"I don't remember it, though."

"Neither do I."

"There was a substitiute coming on, and then..."

"Nothing."

"Nothing, until the players had all left the field. How... what?"

"So ever since the substitute came on... can you remember who that was?"

"No."

"Me neither."

"Kev, you wouldn't normally remember who the sub was."

"Fair point."

"But there we have it, Schiavonia win one-nil! They might be out but they're not down!"

"Who would have thought..."

"Exactly! Go Sloths! You can still get into the top three!"

"But only the top two go into the playoffs."

"Ah, who cares! We're just a small island! Let's party!"

"OK. Well, apparently, Schiavonia won, it is time for us to go, um... bye!"

"Goodbye! Wooooo! Go Sloths!"

Chapter 5

"MARTIN! MARTIN!"

Martin woke to a start, Daniel and his red beard over his bunk. It was around dawn, as a faint light shone through the barrack's windows. He looked around. Everything was normal.

"Must have been dreaming or something" Martin muttered as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. A storm seemed to be coming outside, as snow was starting to fall. A fire burned in the small hearth in the barracks. Wood was hard to find out here, they had to burn the peat they found on a small island offshore.

Revelie played outside the barracks and everyone woke themselves up. They all pulled on their clothes and parkas, getting their way to the mess building. A storm was indeed starting; it would be a little hard for the transport helicopters to land. The landscape was picturesque, the inlet as cozy as ever. The peninsula ridge cutting off Kalthaven from the rest of the world was capped with ice, nondescript as ever. As the platoon's boots crunched under the snow and ice, Martin wondered if the Yttribians could even pick up the base on radar.

The heat of the mess building drew the soldiers in like bugs to a fire. Martin fit in line behind Daniel and in front of Fritz. The three of them had become pretty good friends; they were about the same age and could relate to each other very well. Daniel and Martin secretly played a role in protecting the fragile Fritz, trying to keep him away from danger. As they piled the mystery slop that passed as food onto their plates, they made sure Fritz got a bit more than the rest of them.

The atmosphere in the hall was a little bleak to say the least. It appeared that the Yttribians had given up on taking the south pole for its uranium, and had instead decided to attack the populated north. Many of the Guayabalese soldiers were worried sick about their families, and the news about the razing of Rodriguez did not settle their nerves. The Ruentenbachers had taken up the role of keeping them fixated on the task of protecting the uranium extraction and waiting the war out.

After breakfast, they got news several helicopters would be arriving with Ruentenbacher soldiersfrom the fighting in the north. Several brigades lost almost all of their soldiers, and would be reassigned to the 79th Infintrie. Platoon B would be awaiting several soldiers to join up. They assembled in the parade field, where the helicopters touched down about half an hour later. They kicked up snow and ice, sending most grabbing for their snow goggles. Once the scene cleared and the soldiers were off the helicopter, they walked towards their new platoons. Martin almost fainted.

There, joining up with Platoon B, was Kirstin.

'Prime Minister? Sir?
Judge didn't move. Just five more minutes, he thought to himself. 'Prime Minister, Mr Doyley is here to see you.' No. There is no point waiting any longer. 'Alright, alright. I'm coming.' Judge rushed from his chair to the door and opened it with vigour to find the ever impressive new Chairman of the OSI waiting for him the other side. 'Did I interrupt something, Prime Minister?'
'Yes, my valued afternoon nap.'
'Aren't you supposed to be running the country?'
'Lad, you'll stop being so brilliant one day and realise that it isn't worth dedicating your entire life to work. Not even a PM can do that.' Judge welcomed his intelligence chief into the room and maneuvered over to the drinks cabinet, pouring some gin for the both of them. 'What can I do for you?'
'You asked me earlier this month for my opinion on some things. I gave more than that. I'm here to have a quick chat about some individual things which I feel like you might want to know, or at least receive some advice on.' Judge handed the Chairman his drink and they both took a seat on the plush leather chairs by the fireplace. 'That's all that brings you to Gardner House today then? Not the fine art of this old Home Office institution?' The Chairman chuckled as he took a healthy swig. 'No sir. High culture isn't really within my remit. May I begin?'
'Of course.'

At this point, the Chairman pulled out a file from his briefcase which included a large naval chart, which he unfolded on the coffee table. 'You know the ENS Harrower?'
'Of course, the old nuclear icebreaker. Decommissioned earlier this year. What about it?'
'Well, as you probably know the Euran Maritime Heritage Foundation, the Navy and the Scientific Congress saw it as appropriate to convert the vessel into a de-nuked museum ship to be escorted to the Valhallan Union. Our Polarian chums would be delighted to have her serve as a dual heritage museum ship given that she spent most of her time in that part of the world. The plan is to take her to Northbrook, all the way out in the northwestern region of the Polarian sphere. The plan original was to take it to Askersund, but Northbrook's presence as the main settlement on the island it shares a name with made it the inevitable choice.'
'I know, I've been there.'
'Oh really? When?'
'Back during the election campaign, I went up there to meet one of their opposition leaders. Made some speech about continuing co-operation. Visited a frigate. The usual stuff. You've been there too?'
'Err, yes.'
'Oh really? On what business?'
'Holiday with the family.' The Chairman was lying. He'd been to Northbrook once...as part of a military exercise with Euran special forces. He'd been involved in the simulated destruction of a Polarian destroyer and a Euran minesweeper using a cheap anti-ship missiles off the back of a flatbed truck. His commanding officer had publicly rebuked him for making the two countries joint operating procedures for a sea launched invasion look silly. But in private, off the record, the same man had given the then young Chairman a pat on the back and a fine cigar to celebrate his ingenuity.

'Anyway, back to what I was saying, Prime Minister. Now the Sameban government has registered their unhappiness about this with the Polarian's. Its completely ridiculous reasoning but they're calling it an insult because the vessel's light armament shot up a surfaced Sameban submarine very far north back in the last war. I think they're threatening to take advantage of its vulnerability when it travels up north without the protection of being a registered Euran Navy warship. Its a big bastard, its slow and has no countermeasures. It could easily be boarded or sabotaged mid-journey. More concerning is this...' The Chairman pointed to a lengthy plot criscrossing various sea lanes on the naval chart. 'The Admiralty have already discussed this and shown it to you, but I can add further context. The last time we met, I mentioned to you the presence of a Sameban short take off and landing carrier, the SNS Halia to be precise, being spotted outside the territorial waters of Pasarga by one of our subs, armed to bear.'
'Yes, I remember. Is it still there?'
'No. The Admiralty got the sub that identified it to follow it after we'd lost it briefly, and it quickly discovered that the thing was fully loaded up with a full complement of aircraft, mainly helicopters. Pretty unusual for that small a carrier so far from home. On top of that, it had several tankers with it, so it was clearly intended to pursue a very lengthy journey. Data I've had shared with me by my Polarian opposite number has confirmed our own findings. The ship and its escorts swung north bypassing Logira and Nethertopia, before getting very close to the Angry Islands as it steamed out into the Sea of Sibir. It took several weeks, but eventually we found that it had gone around the entire western perimeter of Polarian waters, and then spent about a week within radar range of Northbrook.'

Judge took the information in and tried to understand where the Chairman was going with this as he did so. 'So what, they're trying to intimidate the private owners not to move the ship, because they know we'll tell them about this?'
'No, because the Sameban's don't realise we've tailed them the whole way. I suspect they were confirming their own suspicions about the move and they want to try and pull off another stupid stunt because of this "Cultural War" policy bollocks. They'll either nick it when its isolated or find an excuse to sabotage it on the way.'
'So what do you suggest we do?'
'Don't give on that we know. All we have to do is send a ceremonial escort when it makes its final transit - something big and long range, a cruiser maybe - that can ward off any dumb decision making by our Sammy pals. If it gets to the Sea of Sibir then the opportunity will have passed for them anyway as they couldn't hope to do it without the Polarian's going absolutely apeshit.'
'So, nothing to worry about?'
'Not really no.'
'Good. You said you met your opposite number in that part of the world...did you talk about the recent crisis?'

The Chairman shifted a bit in his seat, and looked somewhat less comfortable now. 'Yeah, briefly. I mean, we had a drink or two first, talked football and then I jumped it on him.'
'You say "Him" like you're assuming I know who you mean.' The Chairman hesitated for a moment like he didn't understand the point, before finally clocking what Judge meant. 'Oh yes, of course Prime Minister, my apologies. He's Patrick Eirin, top dog at the NIA. I asked him what he made of the whole crisis, and what his government intended to do about it.'
'And what did he say? What does he know, in fact?'
'He seemed a bit out of the loop. I had to let him in on a couple of things. Its not unusual for the OSI to be ahead of the rest of the pack, but I thought this was one of the ones where they'd know more. Anyway, his personal mindset was much the same as mine; stay out of it unless forced to do otherwise. But in terms of policy and whether or not the latter condition of that position has been met, the Polarian's basically hold the same view we did previously, at least based on what he said - they're keeping tight lipped on it. They obviously detest the ideological principles of the Corvidae movement, but its difficult for them to do anything other than pose on the fence given their ties to some of the countries involved, much like us. Like us, they feel confused and angry about whats happened with Astograth and are only just coming to the realisation that we can't consider them friends if things continue along the current path. That's what I garnered from the man, and I've known him for years. There is clearly a difference in our current approaches though. We've moved off the fence and for now at least, they seem to be vaguely around it. I don't think they realise that were actively backing anti-Corvidae countries now. He did ask me why we'd been so strong in chastising Yttribia though.'

Judge rewarded the Chairman with a smug look of satisfaction. 'Excellent. As long as that lot haven't become fascist-friendly, we can count on them to not do anything odd. What is your latest analysis of the Corvidae situation, anyhow?'
'No difference between what I can tell you and what the MoD told you I'm afraid, Prime Minister. I gave my information directly to them. Long story short as you know, the performance of Guayabal's forces so far has been poor. If the rumours are true, Rodriguez fell with barely a shot fired.'
'Alright then, well, is there anything new I should know about?'
'Yes. West Angola.'
'Ah, that old chestnut.'
'Indeed. I'll be blunt about this Prime Minister - I have zero confidence in their administration and based on what our operatives are reporting back from Namibe, describing what is going on as a coup would be too reductive and simultaneously a gross understatement. Its television drama levels of clusterfucked over there and as usual our own distanced gaze on West Angola is being punished as its domestic politics move well beyond our control or response times, as usual. I think that once the current bout of instability in the central government settles, when the dust clears, we need to get whoever comes out on top of the pile to meet you or Yarley right away.'
'Not Barker?'
'Fuck Barker, the man is a closet pacifist and he'll sell us down the river. Yarley will get results and hopefully there will be no need to discreetly deploy any troops.'
'But I need him out of the way. West Angola would be the perfect place to send him so he can't continue undermining this coalition with his pre-election pep talks to the press. He's already broke cover and said he wants to aim for a majority. It won't happen but it could stuff this coalition completely!'

The Chairman tutted as he made clear his disappointment at Judge's outlook. 'Sir, the fate of a couple of billion people is at stake. Look, I know you're reluctant to even keep this bizarre Eurasphere arrangement with West Angola in place. However, once things settle over there we have a major opportunity to re-establish ourselves as an elevated external political authority that can transcend their own political boundaries - we can help sort out this Cabinda or whatever its called mess.'
'I didn't have you down for being a neocolonialist, Chairman.'
'I'm most definitely not, but I think that in this case we should either go all in with sorting it out, or just cancel the whole thing. Let's try the former before we resort to the latter, shall we?' Just as Judge nodded in agreement, the Chairman got out of his seat and downed the tiny remnant of his portion of whiskey. 'And now if you'll excuse me, Prime Minister, I must leave to serve our country once more, on your behalf as well of course.'
'Right. You're meeting Tamara Van Der Ven?'
'Yes. President of Felix in exile thanks to our Corvidae chums, turned guerrilla leader begging our government for support. She arrived in Bastion an hour ago.'
'Remember Chairman, don't promise her what my administration can't give. No direct involvement, no public exposure, and limited arms. Tell her though that if things go well initially I might be able to meet her publicly and make a grand gesture of diplomatic support. Until then, money and rifles must suffice.'
'Yes, I absolutely will endeavour to make that clear, Prime Minister.' As the Chairman reached the door, Judge made one final request. 'Chairman?'
'Sir?'
'Did Yarley give the Yttribian Ambassador the bollocking he was due?'
'Yes, she did.'
'Good. If they really do take San Jose Guayabal to the edge, we might have to give him more than just a strong selection of words.'

Match Day Ten
World Cup Qualifier
Barunia 2 : 0 Star United States
United Stadium, Porthaven, Barunia

Barunia took a victory, once again, over Star United States with the score two to zero. Both goals came during the first half. The forwards of Barunia scored during the tenth and twenty-second minute. Marris scored on the tenth minute, and on the twenty-second minute, North scored.

The match was rather a difficult one for the Starians to accept due to the fact that they were not able to score any goals. However, hope still isn't lost for the Starians, as they faced the toughest team on the block, well according to rank.

Ten match days gone, and four to go. Star United States will rise and keep going further.

Group Review
Group 15 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts

5 Dawnhaven 10 5 0 5 12 17 −5 15
6 Star United States 10 4 2 4 19 19 0 14
7 Vunishia 10 1 2 7 6 19 −13 5
8 The Blaatschapen 10 1 0 9 7 21 −14 3

Two teams have been officially eliminated from Group 15, and luckily it isn't us. The Blaatshcapen, and Vunishia can say goodbye to the hopes of reaching the World Cup in Apox and The Holy Empire. Star United States, however, is standing at sixth place, 9 points ahead of Vunishia, who has 5 points. Dawnhaven is ahead of Star United States by one point, and holds 15 points. New Wolfopolis, also, is one point ahead of Dawnhaven. Barunia has 19 points, and three points ahead of New Wolfopolis. Estope and Zwangzug both have 21 points, but Estope is in first on goal difference.

The difference from first place, and sixth place is rather too comfortable for all the teams due to the fact that each place is rather three, two or one point apart, meaning a victory, or loss, can change the table standings completely.

Tomorrow's Matches
Barunia v. Vunishia
Star United States v. The Blaatschapen
Estope v. Zwangzug
Dawnhaven v. New Wolfopolis

Last time these teams met, Barunia won over Vunishia to the score of one to three. Nine goals were scored between The Blaatschapen and Star United States, but Star United States won to the score of four to five. Zwangzug and Estope tied one to one. New Wolfopolis scored five goals against Dawnhaven, who scored none.

Vunishia, a team that has been eliminated with five points, will be visiting Barunia, a team that currently holds third place in Group 15. This match is an easy for Barunia, and will earn an expected three points, and get a total of 22 points. Star United States will faced another eliminated team, The Blaatshcapen, a win is expected for Star United States. Tomorrow, Estope and Zwangzug will face off for the first position of the group. It will a very hard match to guess on who'll find. It could be a tie, however, that will make a three-way tie for first place. It is expected to Zwangzug, based on rank. Dawnhaven will be hosting New Wolfopolis, and is expected to be losing to upon the visitors.

Expected Standing Results
Zwangzug - 24 points
Barunia - 22 points
Estope - 21 points
New Wolfopolis - 19 points
Star United States - 17 points
Dawnhaven - 15 points
Vunishia - 5 points
The Blaatschapen - 3 points

The Storm... stops? Well, somewhat.
Today in the dawn hours of day, the sunrise was seen from SeaShore City. The city was called under a Code Yellow around ten in the morning, and the members of the community as now exiting the bunkers. However, this differs at Golden City, as the members still reside in the bunkers, but no longer with a Code Red. According to the national weather department the rain has greatly decreased to a very light rain, and is expected to stop within the next few days. Riverside City has seen no more rain since late last night, but the floods prevent leaving from the bunkers. Woodbed City is still under rather hard rain, and the rain refuses to leave.

SeaShore City - The members of the community were finally able to leave the underground bunkers and see sunlight one more time. However, it was not a pretty sight with the floods having destroyed a lot on ground level. During the exit of the members from the bunkers, President Chris issued a plane to fly over the city all day waving the Starian flag.

The devastating sight broke the hearts of many community members, and of people across Star United States. Companies have gone back to work to fix all fallen electrical lines and pluming. President Chris Cross will be visiting the city tomorrow.

Woodbed City - The members of this community still are under Code Red as the rain above the bunkers pour down hard without a rest. The rain is lighter than it used to be and the draining system has caught up with all the water, so no flooding is above ground. All needs of life are completely met, and food is delivered accordingly through the underground tunnel. According to the radars, the storm should be passing anytime soon, hopefully.

Golden City - This city has been placed under a Code Yellow. The rain has decreased quickly, and it will soon be safe to exit the bunkers. The members of this community will be able to exist the bunkers within the next few days, if the rain deceases. The lower parts of the cities are flooded, closer to the shores of the rivers. However, closer to the center the floods cease to exist.

Riverside City - The rain has stopped over this city, but the draining system of the city has failed to catch up with all the water, causing floods throughout the cities. Clean-up teams have been sent to this area, and the members of this community are expected to be back to their homes within the next two days. The sight of this city is utterly similar to the one of SeaShore City.

Science or Fiction
Part 9

Z-Day +9

The experiments had been done and the data collected, yet no real answers had been given. Instead, it seemed more questions had been given. Why were some of the subjects immune to the disease? Why did others come out of death while others stayed dead? Stephan still had DNA swabs of all the subjects and began to look into them. He suspected that genetic differences allowed some to survive. After a review, Stephan came to a startling conclusion, the subjects were all very similar in their types of immune systems, so DNA had no roll. If it wasn't DNA, than what was it? Was it completely random by the way the disease took its course? Was it pure chance that some lived and some died while others "turned"? Or was there some unknown factor undetectable to modern science.

Frustrated, Stephan looked into the movement of the microbes. At the injection site, they immediately went the opposite of gravity through the blood stream towards the brain. There was a solution there, turn the person upside down so all the microbes go to the feet where they would be completely harmless. Then, the feet would be amputated, though this would not be a very good "cure" as it had to be done in a few minutes after contact and would cripple the person. Anyway, the microbes floated in the bloodstream to the brain. On the way, white blood cells attacked them, but the microbes actually overpowered them. Another solution here: add more white blood cells to tip the balance in favor of the immune system. Stephan did a quick check of white blood cell counts, those that survived had a WBC of 10,000 cmm, on the high side but not to dangerous. So was that the solution? Simply more white blood cells?

Stephan ran over to his smaller lab where he did the testing on the piece of flesh. He quickly rigged together an experiment with the neuron microbes and the white blood cells. They cells were in a horizontal tube, so if the microbes reached the top, the person would be dead. If they were killed by the white blood cells, they person would live. 100 microbes, the injection given before, were put at the bottom of the tubes.

4,500 cmm - 84 microbes
5,000 cmm - 78 microbes
5,500 cmm - 63 microbes
6,000 cmm - 54 microbes
6,500 cmm - 52 microbes
7,000 cmm - 45 microbes
7,500 cmm - 33 microbes
8,000 cmm - 22 microbes
8,500 cmm - 19 microbes
9,000 cmm - 11 microbes
9,500 cmm - 5 microbes
10,000 cmm - 0 microbes
10,500 cmm - 0 microbes
cmm= cells per cubic millimeter

The results were astoundingly clear: all a person needed was a stronger immune system to stop the disease. Stephan stumbled and ran to the phone in his lab. "This is Stephan, get the CDC on the phone!"

THE BEST FOOTBALL BLOG BY JOHNNY BARTON

I'm impressed. Many Eastedgeans are surely continuing looking at the standings of the group 24 yet; at least I am. Definitely, the most painful thing about this situation is that we could avoid that. United Eastedge was standing in second place, but suddenly, in a blink of an eye everything turned bad, falling to the third place of the group. The Aelley Stadium saw a painful 3-0 defeat against the Buyaneses on match that would determine the team that will advance from the group stage, together with Audioslavia. Nonetheless, with four remaining qualifying matches, possibilities still alive. Yeah, maybe it will be even harder to make the play-offs from now on, but the bigger the challenge, the bigger the triumph. However, the navies seemed without ideas for the second time throughout the World Cup Qualifiers; it have been the worst performance since the first match against the bulls, and unfortunately, the majority of the fans and even the press is blaming only one man after last night's giant fail. Who am I talking about? Yep, the head coach, Marcos Masson.

I would like to talk about the solid 3-1 victory against Kernansquillec at the Green Jewel, but unfortunately, that's now in the past. The Aelley Stadium was completely full; I think there were roughly 44,000 fans and the stadiums has a capacity of 41,000. Yeah, some fans were there, without a freaking ticket! However, the match was going perfect for United Eastedge within the first ten minutes of the match. Nonetheless, there was not an important opportunity for the home team to open the scoreboard. Ten minutes later, Buyan began to press at the front with Ulle Seber, Bronius Bartkus, and Sigurd Tufte passing the ball over the outskirts of the box. I would like to say that the eleven men standing on the field were within the box, looking to counter attack in any moment. Daryl Agnew was not over the midifled this time due to the severe injure he suffered the last match. So, the team led by Masson was not enough quick to retrieve the ball. Ulle Seber scored the first goal for the Buyaneses, opening the scoreboard at the twenty-third minute.

But if you thought that was everything, you thought wrong. From there on, Buyan dominated completely the remaining minutes of the first half. However, was fifteen minutes after the beginning of the second forty-five minutes when the second Buyanese came (the three goals of the match were Buyanese, anyways). Gabriel Refshaug stole the ball over the left field when the Eastedgean defender, Matthew Alvarez was running with it. Thereafter, he ran fastly all the way through until Sigurd Tifte appeared next to him, running toward Yates' goal. He gave a dangerous pass that finished its trajectory meters ahead of Drew Yates, the goalkeeper. He ran toward the ball in order to steal it from Tifte, but the last took the ball, dribbling him. With the free goal, Sigurd Tifte just pushed softly the ball, increasing the advantage of the Buyaneses. Two goals against and there was not a reaction from United Eastedge. Masson tried to fix that by two intelligent substitutions that would improve the dynamism of the team, or that was intended.

There were sad fanson the grandstand, there were also fans crying, and even fans that left the stadium immediately after the Buyanese squad scored the second goal. Meanwhile bookmakers were like a bill party; bills flying anywhere. Marcos Masson was quite restless and angry, while the Paradystopian strategist was glad, calm, and sitting, observing how his team was embarrassing the navies. To finish with the small goal fest, Ulle Seber scored an incredible goal on a free kick, caused by a foul committed by Bejamin Holloway that was expelled from the field and he won't play the next match with United Eastedge. Ulle Seber became an authentic nightmare for the Eastedgeans after the outstanding performance he showed last night at The Ship. The ref ended the match after adding three more minutes, in which the navies seemed to be good without scoring a goal. Sincerely, the defeat was the most likely to happen; Buyan was showing an increasingly performance.

So, what's up with the standings? It's not too obvious? The twice-world champions, Audioslavia continues at the top, without corncerns, since they left in the back the rest of the teams with 28 points. Buyan snatched the second place to United Eastedge, after defeating them 3-0 at their home, which means that they reached the 19 points. Meanwhile United Eastedge is now in the third place, stepping at the Buyanese heels with 19 points as well. Maklohi Vai continues stagnant in the fourth place, looking to win the race against Buyan and United Eastedge with 18 points. Kernasnquillec also seems stagnant... But in the fifth place, with a poor level showed on the recent matches, the kers have gained 14 points throughout the qualifying. I'd say that the sixth ranked team, Lojal is running away from elimination; being ahead of YSG with just eight insignificant points. Behind them, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk gorod seems to be the next eliminated team of the group if they don't react within the next weeks; they are with 7 points at the seventh place. Finally, the first eliminated team of the group 24, Free Swiss States find themselves at the bottom of the standings, being one of the worst teams of the qualifying with just one point.

You are maybe wondering what do the navies need to make the play-offs. Well, that's what I thought immediately after Buyan defeated United Eastedge last night. It's simple... Let's suppose that Maklohi Vai is not anymore competing for the freaking second place of the group. That'd leave only Buyan and United Eastedge as the only contenders to accompany Audioslavia. Unfortunately, the next three opponents of Buyan are Lojal, Free Swiss States, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk gorod. To be honest, those teams are not good at all, so this means that Buyan will gather nine points more within the next three match days, giving us a total of 28 points. In the other hand, United Eastedge's next matches are against Maklohi Vai, Lojal, and Free Swiss States. If the navies achieve to defeat Maklohi Vai, which is the hardest team, they will also achieve nine points within the next three match days, giving us a total of 28 points as well. The important team here is that Buyan will need to face the bulls on the last match day and United Eastedge, YSG. If Buyan fall to Audioslavia, it'll be great for the navies, giving them the opportunity to snatch the second place.

As said, next up is the team of Maklohi Vai. A team that is also trying to snatch that secon place in any moment, but they'll need to defeat the navies at The Ship. Last match between these teams took place at the Vaian National Pitch. A stadium that saw their team being defeated by the debutants, United Eastedge, 2-0. The winner will surely be the only contender, together with the Buyaneses, to make the play-offs. In my opinion, the Vaians are not too dangerous as it seemed at the beginning. They are being decreasing their level of football, but that doesn't mean that they won't be a hard obstacle on the path. From now on, United Eastedge will be depending on Buyan's matches as well, in order to qualify, but the performance should be perfect within the next weeks if we want to see our country playing for one of the thirty available spots to the World Cup Finals. By the way, Saintland is the first team to qualify... This has been once again, Over The Field, in charge of your favorite blogger, Johnny Barton.

Chapter 10, Season 4: Sub-Boss

Sunrise dashed throughout the deteriorated facility. While it looked fairly similar to a game of his own memory, Sunrise simply did not care and ran through the halls, before finding a rather peculiar stage, surrounded by some green-colored water. As it bubbled, Sunrise decided not to touch it, but eventually found something else, Sindy.

Sindy: Ain't you bloody cocky...
Sunrise: Well, I can't let you roam freely, can I?
Sindy: I had enough of people of your kind.
Sunrise: Peaceful?
Sindy: Undeserving idiots. Just complete utter morons that should be grateful natural selection skipped this generation and let them survive! Hell, this is a society where someone like you, an idiot that almost ended our world, is a hero!
Sunrise: ...Are we still talking about that leap? Look, I wasn't trying to land like that, but that's life!
Sindy: Your children baited her in. Hell, they might as well just be artificial creations so that she had an excuse to get in!

Sunrise steps in and dashes on a punch to Sindy's face, angered.

Sunrise: Don't you dare call them artificial! They're way better people than you!
Sindy: Oh, yes. Because I'm the annoying bumbling idiot that barely survived a fall and ever since acted like crazy or one of the other three offsprings that are just as stupid.
Sunrise: Take that back!
Sindy: Oh, I shall, surely.

Sindy raised a sword lying on the floor.

Sindy: As soon as I'm done with you!

Sunrise dropped the bat, looking around until finally finding out another sword hanging from the roof.

Sunrise: We could have talked a way out. But if it's a sword fight you want, a sword fight you'll get.

A sword battle then began, however, Sindy was rather more talented with it, quickly fencing a way to boot Sunrise near the weird looking water.

Sindy: Au revoir, Sunrise... til hell.

With a well placed kick to Sunrise's stomach, the once Esportivan fell down into the water, what Sindy believed to be acid. Eventually, Sunrise rose up from the water, spitting a bit of it out.

Sindy: What the hell?
Sunrise: Tastes like... lemon soda?
Ecosse: WHAT THE HELL?

Ecosse appeared on a balcony near the place where they were fighting. Sindy quickly pulled out a gun and shot Ecosse's right leg, before leaping out via the same balcony.

Ecosse: AGH!
Sindy: We'll meet again, Sunrise! And then I'll finish the job!
Sunrise: Hey, don't run!

Before he could finish his line, Sindy found her way out of the area. Sunrise dashed on the way and leaped to the balcony, climbing it and reaching Ecosse.

Sunrise: Where did she hit you?
Ecosse: Can't you read? On my goddamn right leg!
Sunrise: Jeez, calm down... Come on, let's go to the hospital. I'll find her later.
Ecosse: Why did I rush my way into the series again...? Ugh...
Tails... Watch out, you're gonna crash, aaaaah!
