Give US mod power over our own threads

Postby Agaralia » Fri Apr 30, 2010 3:01 pm

Not to warn or ban or delete. Just to edit posts (other than ours), move it (if someone tells us it is in the wrong place), or lock it (maybe we think it gets out of hand). It makes sense. But of coarse the real moderators could overrule us. But also maybe if the mods see a couple nice posts, not enough to become a mod, then only will you receive this highest (well not highest) honor. Maybe like only 10,000 people could have it. And mods could just say, oh, that is a nice response, I bet they were really furious, I will give them that power. Hit the button, boom, get a telegram. But maybe a 50 post requirment also. Also, if the mods notice you abusing your power, they can take away your privlages.

No. It starts with an idealist wanting to keep spam out. It ends with right wingers deleting left wing posts in their threads and vice versa.

Making my opposition to this idea emphatically clear

Postby Sarzonia » Fri Apr 30, 2010 3:15 pm

Absolutely not. Roleplayers already have a degree of control over threads when they're the OP.

If you create a RP and someone undesirable comes along, you can tell him to leave. If he doesn't, you can report it in Moderation and they can make him leave.

If you're looking for similar control in General, that would fly in the face of what General's all about.

i think we should APPLY for these priviedges on the forum, like a 'why aren't you "X religion"' thread getting a no, but a RP thread getting a yes or some such.

however, this would pile undeserved work on the mods, i know, i've been one on a much smaller forum

Nope. I am not accepting the idea. They already have control and it undermines the authority of a mod, not to mention it will turn into posts getting deleted, complaints about their post gets getting deleted. It will never be a good idea. :O
If you are in a roleplay with me, read my wiki. That way, that's all you need to know.http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Khorata

like i said, if it's for an appropriate thread it can be useful, perhaps allowing it on II or something?
