Starting Line-ups:
Kevin Hautifi/G/#16/AGE: 22
Kevin is a strong 22 year-old man that owns and pwns everyone at goalie. He has only let26 pucks in the net his whole carrer. Also, If you get a puck in, you will die!!...In the morning. Kevin has never been injuried or stuck to something in any way.

Daylon Orali/LDM/#2/AGE: 28
Standing at 6'3 and weighing at 202 lbs is none other than the great Left defense man Daylon Orali! He is a beast at defending and can stop anyone dead in their tracks, Literally, he stops people and kills them. Be afraid! Anyhow, Daylon is a good hockey player and an average person.

Michael Buckley/RDM/#3/AGE: 27
Michael isn't good at defending, nor does he know what a Right Defense man is. But, he does know that he can play hockey better than anyone on the team. He is a pro at hockey. Just like how Jaleel White was good at basketball.

Jake Gaisdui/C/#7/AGE: 26
Jake is a German-American who can play just like everyone else. He is good at centerfowarding, he's a nice person, and loves the game of hockey. He is often referred to as a "hockey fantic or fanboy" but he only likes the game, he doesn't worship it! Why? Do you think he goes to The Holy Church of Hockey Pucks?! Seriously?!!

Dimitri Roberazzi/LWF/#5/AGE: 23
Dimitri is a freshly drafted Russian hockey player. Russians are good at hockey, right? (no offense). Dimitri is from Vladivostok, Russia and played as a forward in the Russia Men's Olympic Hockey Team in the winter Olympics. He dreams of becoming a pro hockey player and move to Anarctican to play in the Anarctica Hockey Team, which doesn't exist but try telling him that! Dimitri is a nice person and has little temper issues.

Alexei Borodin/RWF/#10/AGE: 24
Alexei Borodin was a former Teinohikiran hockey player. And now he is back. Alexei is from Vladivostok, Russia and played as a forward in the Russia Men's Olympic Hockey Team in the winter Olympics. He dreams of becoming a pro hockey player and move to Alaska to play in the Alaskan Hockey Team, which doesn't exist but try telling him that! Alexei is a nice person and has little temper issues.

Ice-Hockey ? What the fucking hell is Ice-Hockey ?

Ice-Hockey ? What the fucking hell is Ice-Hockey ?

This question is by far the most frequent following a fast poll in the streets of New Hope. Overt 60 % of all participants couldn't place the name and only 20 % ever saw a actual hockey match.
This is even more drastic given the fact that 7 players from the actual rooster plays for the New Hope Sharks.
" Most of our fans are tourists from North America, I assume that we have more fans in New York or Chicago then here in Phoenixia." This statement from Daniel Knudsen, Manager of the New Hope Sharks seems to be sad true.
All hopes for more public affection lays now on the first international qualifications.
" The places are to nearly 70 % sold, sometimes we are even sold out." Fans across the country go on a pilgrimage.
" We have the best team ever, we have hope and we have a home game, this are not the worst conditions for the first game." Says Folke Kristoffersen, Fan of the Dragonia Dinos, his journey takes nearly 10 hours with the bus to save money for more franchise.
The match tomorrow against the Raxillion is sold out to give the larger country from Osiris the right mind.
And for all the people out there who don't know what Ice Hockey is, watch the first game here on Ice-Fans.ph in full length and live.

Groups Have Been Announced!

Sergei Kolomanis
Moscawa Times Correspondent

MOSCAWA- The news rolled in late last night as to the identity of the groups for WCOH 19. As hundreds of Canuckistanis braved the cold to wait outside of the Sailfish International Airlines Center to watch the announcement of the groups, it finally came to Group 10, as Soviet Canuckistan was announced the crowd went wild with cheering, then after the announcement of Valanora, an uneasy silence. Many in the crowd remembered the losses last year to the Valanoran team in the group stages of WCOH 18. Now with more training, the Canuckistani team might be able to beat the odds and take down the Valanoran hockey juggernaut. As for the rest of the group, it's a toss-up with the other four teams being all unranked, however the most notable team out of those is His Great Kingdom, a fellow host bidder for this tournament. The Canuckistani team today is on their way to His Great Kingdom for their first match of the WCOH, the outcome of this match could determine if this team has a great or negative tournament. On a sidenote, Soviet Quebexico has been placed in Group 5, with three ranked teams.

Matches:

MD1:@ His Great Kingdom
MD2:@ Ziketonia
MD3: v. Valanora
MD4: @ Estope
MD5: v. Havl
MD6: v. His Great Kingdom
MD7: v. Ziketonia
MD8: @ Valanora
MD9: v. Estope
MD10: @ Havl

Alpha: Just got this off the fax machine, the group schedule.

Omega: Fax machine? We still have one of those?

Alpha: Well we have to keep one for the lesser techonolgy-savvy countries. I think somewhere we still have a telegraph machine, just in case.

Omega: Whatever, let me see our schedule, seeing as I'm the one who has to set the logistics for the teams coming here.

    MD2: v. Birolika
    MD3: @ Falconfar

    MD6: v. Audioslavia
    MD7: @ Birolika
    MD8: v. Falconfar
    MD9: v. Western Cuba
MD10: @ Andossa Se Mitrin Vega

Omega: At least we're playing hockey not baseball or football. If this was a World Cup qualifier, we'd finish 3rd and if it was a WBC one, we'd finish 2nd.

Alpha: Phhppt. The team's lost to worse teams than these in the group stage before, and they'll do it again this year.

Omega: You're just saying that, 'cause you really want your idea for the next one. How's the research into that coming, by the way?

Alpha: Never you mind, just start working on getting those hotel rooms booked.

WCOH 19 Groups

Duntreal- The groups have been drawn for WCOH 19 with Soviet Quebexico looking to be in a difficult group for their WCOH debut. In our group is 15th ranked Darmen, 25th ranked Mapletish, and 49th ranked Weatherdon. The other two teams Nopspri and Sicoutiment are both unranked. Quebexican analysts predictions right now are all over the board stretching from last place to even second. The players fly out tonight to face Mapletish in their first game of the tournament.

Audioslavia - National Ice Hockey Team
Izotzezenak / The Ice Bulls

Est: 1991, Itzalovalle, Sierra Herradura, Audioslavia

The NKFA (Ausque: Neguko Kirol Federazoa, Audioslavia - Anglo: 'Winter Sports Association of Audioslavia') was founded over one hundred and fifty years ago in Itzalovalle, Audioslavia, as a way of regulating the amount of Ice Hockey teams springing up around the Sierra Herradura region. The NKFA's main remit throughout its patchy history has been to maintain Ice Hockey's popularity and revelance in the colder, southern areas of Audioslavia - something it has largely failed to do, thanks to the overwhelming popularity of Football and, to a much lesser extent, Rugby League.

Ice Hockey in Audioslavia has enjoyed a few periods of success over the centuries, beginning in the 1980s with increased attendance at scratch hockey matches in the Sierra Herradura region, leading to the inception of the NKFA in 1991 and the formation of the short lived 'Nazio Liga' in 1993.

Interest in the sport picked up again during the colder winters of 2012 to 2015 with the long-disbanded 'Nazio Liga' being picked up and given a scrub, eventualy being dubbed the 'Audioslavian Ice Hockey Championship' in 2013, which ran to usually modest audiences until the civil war began in 2029.

The nation's animal is the Marill, however, the Sunrisian hockey team is nicknamed by their own fans as the stars, based on their crest and the flag, these stars are based mainly on the main seven islands of Northern Sunrise Islands: Arrendine, Ayeville, Charleston, Lynder, Mabel, Mardi and Mist. Another island, Solar is represented by the sun on the flag, but doesn't have any references on the team. The three colors worn by the Stars are blue, yellow and white; with the first two being the national colours and the last one to reference the nations' political neutrality. These colors are used promeninently at their Home and Away uniforms. Allthough not that fond of the Marill, the hockey team has also managed to include the animal in their Goalie Mask.

In club hockey, Northern Sunrise Islands host the Sunrise Hockey League, with twenty teams from the nation and other ten sent from the nations of the Unzucneru Association. In three seasons of dispute, the Byrd Cup is currently in the hands of Saint Anne and Jacob representants, the Stilwater Sharks. However, the team with most title victories (two) is the Madjorie Castors. The stadiums of Northern Sunrise Islands are mostly multi-sportive, to a point where the InComm Arena at Matthew City was the host for a final of the CHL. Other tournaments disputed in NSI in hockey range are the SMHL, a minors competition, won once by the Ryukyu Samurais (filiated to the Lorelei Shinobi) and the Sydneywood Hockeyroos (filiated to the Maori All Blacks) and the Husky Cup, a Juniors competition, to which sole champion were the Nilveneu Rafales from the LFJH.

The national hockey team of NSI are trying to participate of their first ever World Cup of Hockey, and they hope that they will be able to do so in their matches. The Stars will have three stadiums that they will call their home, the CHL 14 final's host stadium,InComm Arena at Matthew City, the Snowflake Stadium at Lynder and the Union Stadium at Mardi. They'll be used rotatively (InComm Arena first, Snowflake Stadium second, Union Stadium third, InComm Arena fourth, and so on). Originally, they would play in the DuBeaux Stadium at Arrendine, but the stadium is going through reform.

COACH
Steve McConnery - An offensive coach at most[Style: +2], used to teach middle-schoolers how to play ice hockey. He himself was, in general, the best hockey player of Northern Sunrise Islands, though never playing professionally. Some of the players that he have teached, such as Sioux, Sharp, Bremmer and the Carvalho brothers are now playing in big teams of the SHL and are his comanded players.

RP PERMISSIONS
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: N
RP injuries to my players: Y
Godmod injuries to my players: N
Hand out penalties to my players: N
Godmod other events: N

"The Stars" are a very well disciplined team, that's why Penalties and Fights will be very rare against them. Also, keep in mind that they are mostly fast-paced players, which means that they will use their speed a lot, sometimes to aid them, but that can also screw them up (losing the puck, per example).

Bilbo: Hey Alexei. I just received our schedule.

Alexei: Why did they send it in the mail? We usually receive it through the internet.

Bilbo: Well Qazox received theirs through a fax machine. *shrug*

Alexei: But we don't even play Qazox this time around.

Bilbo: Who cares? Just take this schedule and let the other guys see it.

Alexei: It omly figures we get put in a group with Plutoni *-_-*

Bilbo: Look at it this way, Plutoni is probably our toughest opponent. The other guys I've never heard of.

Alexei: But our whole schedule just alternates from home to away. Do you know how much gas that'll be?

Bilbo: Doesn't matter. Just tell the guys to get their equipment together and load it up on the bus. We have much to do.

Alexei: You know, this time we better make the playoffs.

Bilbo: Don't pressure me!

So Birolika deicded to enter their first WCoH. Really no one is sure why, we suck at it. Even most people in the elite division need an hour on the ice before the match so they can learn how to skate. Seriously they spend half an hour stuck to the edge slipping about. I'll be honest it's not the best group ever either, we are basically bottom of the group as far as expectation go and I doubt that we'll even win a match. Have you seen our league? Grandma's from decent hockey nations could create a team which would easily win the elite league, we might even recruit a couple. Anyway on to the cup, our first match is against Falconfar who will probably destroy us. See you at the game!
With the abolition of private property, then, we shall have true, beautiful, healthy Individualism. Nobody will waste his life in accumulating things, and the symbols for things. One will live. To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

In the event that my heavily-armed security guards are not ICly allowed into the country, they will be RP'd as present and armed, but not in uniform. Also, Each individual changeling has a preferred form. They are given to you for your RPing use, though you may choose to RP them in any form you wish them to use, no matter how stupid or unrealistic it may be.

This roster should not be treated as an official roster released by the government of the Equestrian States and most of it is not publicly-released IC knowledge.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
Unofficial and Unauthorized Team - World Cup of Hockey XIX

Team Background
As the National Equestrian Sports Council (NESC) failed to enter an official national hockey team for the second consecutive tournament, several of the more shady and sneaky members of the NESC have arranged for the role of representing the Equestrian States to be given to the inmates at Alcloptraz Maximum Security Prison. The island prison holds several thousand Changelings, and is practically never on the "To Visit" lists of tourists in the Equestrian States as ten security checks are required before one is allowed to set a hoof (or other body part) on or off the island to prevent escapes. A group of of over a dozen Changeling prisoners have been selected by their prison wardens to play as the Equestrian States team, though their actions are illegal and unauthorized by the government or the normal ruling board of the NESC. Those inmates conscripted to play were selected based on viciousness, aggressiveness, or simple intimidation. When not playing, the Changelings will be kept in magically-reinforced transport containers kept under armed guard at all times. Guards will also prevent any unauthorized news on the World Cup of Hockey from reaching the Equestrian States itself so that the secrecy of the team is maintained.

Offense
Inmate 221813 (Female Human)
Inmate 672362 (Male Penguin)
Inmate 956267 (Male Pegasus)
Inmate 745367 (Male Manticore)

Inmate 916164 (Male Dragon)
Inmate 155171 (Male Unicorn)

Team Staff
The inmate players have not been given any training nor do they have any official coaches assigned to them. The closest thing the team has to coaches are the guards assigned to them.

Head Guard: Captain [CLASSIFIED] (Pegasus - Male)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Unicorn - Male)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Pegasus - Female)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Earth Pony - Female)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Human - Male)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Minotaur - Male)
Guard: Officer [CLASSIFIED] (Human - Male)

Home Rink

Name: Yard B
Location: Alcloptraz Maximum Security Prison
Capacity: 1,250
Short Description: In order that the team have a place to play their home games, the guards have arranged for the secondary prison yard be set aside as a temporary ice rink. Wooden bleachers constructed by the inmates will allow for around 1,250 ponies, changelings, or other beings to watch the games with only a little discomfort. For IC purposes, visiting teams will be allowed to bring no more than 500 fans with them and will have to cooperate fully with the guards' instructions in order to attend.

RP Permissions

If my opponent RPs first, I give them the right to...
Do anything they want to: Yes - As long as the team's secrecy is maintained, since the majority of my nation is being kept unaware of the team's existence during group play for RP reasons. As such, unless I have told you otherwise, you are forbidden from saying there were any Equestrian fans at my away games (as in when I play in your country). I would also ask that you shoot me a TG warning if you plan to do something extreme like killing a player. I'll probably let you do it, but I like to have advance warning so I can make adjustments to my own RP for that MD.

Port Hawthorne national ice hockey team arrives in Michael VII
TIMOTHY GURGANU
Michael VII

Port Hawthorne Ice Huskies arrived in Michael VII yesterday afternoon. The team took in the sights before hitting the ice hard for practice. This makes Port Hawthorne's second appearance in the World Cup of Hockey tournament. They were eliminated in the round robin. They're the same squad of young men who were surprising underdogs placing third in the fourth edition of the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Cup.

They'll face off against Cassadaigua in their first game of the tournament. They'll face off against Maklohi Vai, Falconwhereeveryouare, Northern Sunrise Islands and then Falconwhereeveryouare in their final game. Port Hawthorne's general manager Toby Benson told reporters last evening that he expects his team to be in the top four after the two round robin planned.

Will our boys get to the knockout round? Who knows. We believe.

The Shofercian Eagles Have Arrived!

Let's meet the team:

Style Mod = +3

Roster:

Line 1 (Torpedo):
LW Pashka Bren
C Sergei Sergeev
RW Lev Koper
D Dmitri Turchinsky
D Oleg Harding

Style of play: power forwards!

Line 2 (Rockets):
LW Frolik Aleksandrov
C Dat Pashkov
RW Afi Maksimov
D Mark Andreev
D Mark Danilov

Style of play: passing, passing, passing, GOAL!

Line 3 (Tigers):
LW Sam Ivanov
C Phil Tigrov
RW Slavik Milikov
D Ivan Markeev
D Artem Ushatik

Style of play: Start out in own zone, lure the opponent in, and counterattack!

Line 4 (Waves):
LW Cake Adamov
C Gordo Bomb
RW Charlie Shen
D Rob Smit
D Rob Kashpirski

Style of Play: tough on defense, hitting for turnovers, trying to intercept the puck, stretch passes

Goaltenders:
Victor Stolichnuy - had a 96% overall saving percentage, faced a lot of shots. Team lost in the semis, as they couldn't score
Basil Catnip - despite the humorous surname, Basil's team, the Rockets, took second place, in a large part due to Basil's 92% overall saving percentage. If Basil could play with stability, he would rival Stolichnuy, as his talent surpasses Victor's, but he's still young.
Erema Aleksandrov - Taken as a sub-goaltender, because his team, the Torpedo, won Gold. His 90% average saving percentage is not the best, and considering his defensive support, it should be better.

Head Coach: Steve Uriev
Manager/CEO: Ivan Moneybags
Domestic Clubs: Torpedo, Rockets, Tigers and Waves (Yes, there were a lot of jokes in Shofercia when Torpedo defeated Rockets in the finals.)

This time, we're hosting the damn thing! Bring on World Cup of Hockey 19.

Previewing the team that will represent us in some sort of way in WCoH 19, and probably not even get back to their own nation, here's the team...Who's ready for some on-ice action?

Offensive Line One: The Scorers
This is our scoring line, with two snipers out on the wing flanks, and our playmaker and team captain in the Centre position. About 80% of Michael VII's goals should be scored from this position, and will see about 20-25 minutes of game time per game. They use a very aggressive tactic that crashes the net to provide a triple threat in front of the net, really grinding the goaltender and creating lots of pressure in the offensive zone to create goals. Unafraid to take a hit, this line is the one to watch out for, as they're the guys that bring the team back into the game. Mattheus Morkel and Friedrich Zoller return, while Damien Karthaus retired following the MHA season being replaced by former Assistant Captain Harold Bertman on Right Wing. Line One, relies largely on a 2-1-2 forecheck, although preferring to not be put on too much defense.

LW: Mattheus Morkel
-Morkel is a very experienced player on the ice for Michael VII, and has been in international play that fellow first line player and captain Friedrich Zoller, however was snubbed for captaincy back in WCoH 15 and has resumed that way since then. Morkel has shown no signs of getting too old to play, having the endurance and puck handling abilities of the 22 year old guys trying to take his spot.
Scoring A+, Skating A-, Puck-Handling A, Endurance B+, Toughness B

C: Friedrich Zoller CAPTAIN
-Zoller, can he do any wrong? If there is an assist from the Michael VII team, it will be from him, and with Zoller, you can be assured of greatness. For the short term at least, as his knee has been playing up in recent years, and the 36 year old will be looking at retiring in the next few years, somehow staying around for WCoH 19, where he gets the honour of leading our team out in our nation for the World Cup. Zoller is our playmaker, and is always there to find the open man, often Morkel on the national team, to set up the goal. His presence in pressuring the goalie has diminished in the past couple of years, but still gets down and dirty next to the net, setting up the quick pass back to the point to get the goalie out of position, and really works for the puck. Puck handling on the break might be an issue, but he's known as a passer not a scorer.
Scoring B, Skating, A+, Puck-Handling B-, Endurance A, Toughness C (Due to knee issues)

RW: Harold Bertman
-Bertman, also of the Falcons, is Zoller's right hand man, being the sniper of the Falcons. Recently promoted to the first line following Karthaus' retirement, Bertman is already used to the RW job, taking the switch well from LW. Bertman has a high work ethic, but could struggle against the better Butterfly keepers, as the 5-hole is his friend. Therefore, he will have to work harder to score goals, as the goalie will need to be out of position and out-deked to get Bertman on the board. It is likely that he will pick up assists from deflections as Zoller will put it in the net for him. Naturally, as a 5-hole shooter, his puck-handling abilities are off the charts, but endurance could be an issue, as playing 20 minutes of fast-paced international hockey can play a big part on whether M7 will advance to the knockouts or not...
Scoring B, Skating A+, Puck-Handling A+, Endurance C+, Toughness B+

Offensive Line Two: The Skaters
As mentioned above, Line Two is our skating line. Its unlikely that they'll score all too many goals, or even shoot too much, but they're able to keep the puck on their sticks for long enough to survive the shift. Thus, when the puck is inevitably lost, Line Two runs an extensive Neutral Zone Trap system, forcing the opponent to dump the puck, allowing for the puck to be in the hands of our offense for as long as possible. In the Offensive Zone, a 2-3 forecheck will be used, as it is aggressive enough to win back the puck often, but also conservative enough to protect odd man rushes. Steve Barlow, from the Fourth Line has been brought up to replace Bertman's promotion, however no other positions have changed from last year. It is expected that the Second Line will play 15 minutes per game, often taking the ice after the Checkers or Scorers, and before the Energisers.

LW: Steve Barlow
-Steve Barlow is a relatively young guy, with only 4 years of international experience, who has came off of the lower ranks of Line Four in WCoH 18. The Coaches have seen Barlow's prominence and great play in the domestic league, and have decided that he was the best guy to take on the second line. A great corner shooter, Barlow can be described as a two-way forward, excelling on defense as well as offense, his long term play with the Energising Line has greatly helped his endurance and has the agility to adapt well to a strong forecheck too. He'll play in the deep offensive zone, allowing Fordt to get around the net and play close net hockey.
Scoring: B, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling Ability: C+, Endurance: A+, Toughness: B

C: Gerald Fordt
-Gerald Fordt can probably feel a bit angry about being 'snubbed' over by management for the captaincy roles, seeing as 1st Assistant was promoted to the line with Captain, and Fordt was still available with a lot of hockey playing left in his career. And yet, he was not even considered, instead with management heading in the direction of defensemen Assistants that will provide a captain on the ice almost all the time. Fordt's best assets are his puck-handling and skating, being considered a power forward in this line, going behind the net to either sweep around the net for goal, or passing it out for Barlow to score up close to the net.
Scoring: B-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: B, Toughness: A

RW: Kelvin Harris
-Kelvin Harris, our playmaker on the flanks, is one of the more intriguing players in the M7 lineup. Harris, the youngest player on the team, takes on a strong role in this team, despite being on the 3rd line at Karoe Reds and not making too much of a show there, finishing back in 7th in the Best & Fairest ranks for the Reds. Harris seems to thrive on the opportunity to don the Blue and Gold of M7, and seems like the selectors see through his lackluster play in the MHA. There is a lot of potential in Harris, but its quite obvious that he's on this line because the coaches don't trust him too much. Never one to be too determined to improve his game, or to show vast amounts of effort on the ice, Harris isn't trusted to take the right option as a sniper in this line, committed enough to make the hits of the third line, or bothered enough to play fourth-line hockey. The line that relies on him just holding the puck seems a good fit for him, and to be playmaker might just mean that he can give off the puck quickly to a shooter and pounce on the rebounds, while largely remaining in the high offensive zone, not deep enough to really make the play but not shallow enough to be a defensive forward.
Scoring: B, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: C, Toughness: C+

Offensive Line Three: The Checkers
The checking line, filled with enforcers and grinders, this line really is the stingy line, and could be argued as the stingiest line, and the reason why Michael VII's league has a low goal scoring percentage...The three men on this line are Michael VII's best defensive players, and don't really prove to be of much use with possession of the puck, hence the reason why they only play about 10 minutes per game, and when defense is truly necessary, such as closing out games. Lots of big guys here, not too mobile, and don't really run much of a forecheck, instead following Line Two's lead of a neutral zone trap strategy, forcing the puck out of the offense's hands, and into theirs. Which is when they often dump it and switch lines. Job well done.

LW: Lyle Davy
-Lyle Davy was seriously considered instead of Steve Barlow as the man to replace Harold Bertman in Line Two, however, the coaches felt that Line Two needed to be made up of guys that will just hold the puck and remain there for Line One, whereas Davy was a beast from Line Three that likes to knock guys off their feet, instead of just contain the puck. Davy is incredibly tough, and loss of 4 teeth and multiple concussions and broken ribs show how nothing will keep him from the ice. Never one to shoot the puck, the dump and run strategy works for Davy, liking the whole, "You're about to die" strategy, before giving the puck back again. If he manages to come away from qualifying without any broken bones, I'll be disappointed.
Scoring: D, Skating: C+, Puck-Handling Ability: C-, Endurance: B-, Toughness: A+

C: Ashton Marks
-We see the puns already, "Ashton MARKS out his next victim", "MARKing the red line with blood", or if he's not living up to our bloodthirsty expectations, "OutMARKed on the day". Save us now, because this is just poor and lazy journalism. And its what you get when you let journalists cover hockey, and not hockey analysts. But Ashton Marks is the resident enforcer on our team, if there's a fight, he's in it, even if he wasn't on the ice at the time, and its his mean right hook that you've got to watch out for! Marks isn't that great of a player, or even a skater, and I don't think he's ever taken a shot in his life, but my oh my can he put a man on the deck! That's why he's here, not because he's a hockey player, but because he can fight like an ex-con and knock a man over like a freight train! My guess for PIM? About 10 minutes per game, 10 games in qualifying, so a round figure of 100 minutes seems legit.
Scoring: F, Skating: D, Puck-Handling Ability: D, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

RW: Terrence Unter ASSISTANT #1
-Unter das Radar? Anyone watching Michael VII hockey should know that he isn't, but not too many people watch us. We don't get the same ratings of Gyatso-kai, not even on a logarithmic graph measuring ratings, and they speak another language that no one speaks! Unter is the one guy in this line that actually has the ability to score, but doesn't. He's another big guy that should be seen on the football pitch rather than on the glorious ice, but knows how to skate around a player and deke the goalie, to follow with a puck lodged in the back of the net. Not so tough as the other two here, and unlikely to start some fights as a peaceful giant, I still wouldn't want to anger him on the ice, because he doesn't get mad, he gets even, by leveling you out on the ice with a huge body check. Unter was picked up by the Bensville Raiders last season after spending much of his tenure with the Frbiba Flyers.
Scoring: B, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: B+, Endurance: C, Toughness: B+

Offensive Line Four: The Energisers
The Fourth Line of any hockey team is largely under-appreciated and misunderstood. They're seen as the guys who just scrape into the team, and don't make an impact on the game play. Not too big, not too talented, not too fast or able with the puck, we see where they come from...But its not overly true that the Fourth Liners do nothing important. They score more than the third line, still make hits, and give the attacking linemen much needed rest and boost for the crucial parts of the match. If we only had three lines, everyone would be much more tired and destroyed by the time we get to Yesopalitha. If we even get close to it. So, these guys have a bit of fresh life in them, all relatively young, but seasoned, all reasonably fast and fit guys, and are able to connect well with the defense, opting for a 2-3 forecheck, conservative, but attacking. Expect these guys to play 15 minutes a game, and making a more solid contribution than the idiots at the journalism department will give them.

LW: Alexei Andropov
Alexei Andropov, remember that name hockey fans. Andropov is just 18 years old, and just a season out of High School as well! Andropov was quickly snapped up by Riverside Flood, being his local team, allowing him to finish High School and play with them before entering the Draft. Hailed as the next Mattheus Morkel. The young'n has already been widely known to favour orthodox goalies, liking to score down low to beat the keeper, whereas he seems to struggle against the butterfly keepers, lacking some control to put the puck in the top corners, instead missing often to the top or the sides of the net.
Scoring: A-, Skating: A+, Puck-Handling Ability: A+, Endurance: A, Toughness: B

C: Derrick Nutzer
Nutzer is a playmaker, that likes to find the man on the flanks to score, often even back from the point. If Line Four is gonna be on the ice for a goal, its likely gonna be a D-man that scores it, as the forwards are often outmanned in the deep zone. Should this happen though, Nutzer will thrive off of the one-time shot from the slot, especially if the well-practiced screens work well to blind the keeper. Nutzer is the Captain of the Southland Snow Devils.
Scoring: B-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A, Endurance: A-, Toughness: C (Has injury problems)

RW: Kyle Junter
Junter is another young forward, however not nearly on the same youth level as Andropov. Kyle can actually grow a beard. Junter is a sniper, just able to find the net in the most unlikely of situations, and from the tiniest of gaps. Doesn't have the same X-Factor as his left winger, Mr Perfect, Alexei Andropov, but he's had more Junior Hockey experience, and thus has seen more ice time and has a larger on-ice presence, could easily be seen as a second-liner by WCoH 20. Watch his wrist shot, quick little flick, and the goal horns will go off. Goaltenders beware.
Scoring: A-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: B+, Endurance: A, Toughness: B

Defensive Pairing One -The Aces
These guys are known as our aces, quick and ready on defense, and they only like to ever exist around the blue line when on attack, counter-attacks are rare on this pairing, and they therefore play the most out of our defensemen. All defensemen have returned from WCoH 18, showing how the elite D-men aren't yet too old, and the young guys aren't yet good enough to replace them. Poke checking is the key from these guys, as hits are rare from the smallest of the 3 pairings. Pairing one is expected to play 25 minutes per game.

LD: Orson Card
-Orson Card is probably the best defensive player in the league, and it seems strange when you take a look at the guy. He's small in stature, just 5'8", not even 200lbs, but is able to hang with the best of them. He's a thinker, he doesn't get deked, he doesn't set a screen in front of his own goalie, and waits for the moment to poke the puck away. A smart thinker, and a small but quick frame, makes Orson Card our greatest defensive asset.
Scoring: B+, Skating: A, Puck-Handling Ability: A-, Endurance: A+, Toughness: C

RD: Samuel Ford
-Samuel Ford seems to complement Orson well. Ford is a bit more aggressive and willing to give a hit, quickly trying to attack the puck and the man in possession to feed the puck back to the offense. Ford isn't so keen on keeping the puck on him, and adapts better to a conservative base offensive scheme or forecheck than an aggressive one. As such, on offense in critical situations, Pairing One won't be taking the ice. The Catsore Bay Falcons know this all too well.
Scoring: C+, Skating: A+, Puck-Handling Ability: B-, Endurance: A, Toughness: A-

Defensive Pairing Two -The D-Men of Doom
This pair has a captain in its ranks, or at least a leader. It is therefore quite unlikely to interact with Line One, spending a lot of its time with Line Three, as it is the largest pair in stature, and is the checking pair. Hence the D-Men of Doom nickname. Darshon and Spears, both played together at Bensville. Pair Two should play about 20 minutes per game.

LD: William Darshon
-William Darshon, the man who brought Bensville a NHA championship single-handedly. Many thought Willy wasn't happy at the Raiders, but after a couple of abysmal seasons with them, the Raiders came back to win the championship miraculously, MVP honours all round for Darshon. Darshon is a huge guy that ranked really high up on the draft lists of everyone two years ago, and his hits count proves it. Every time he gets near an opposition attacker, he has a great probability of dislodging the puck from him and injuring the player legally in the process. He's feared.
Scoring: D, Skating: B-, Puck-Handling: C+, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

RD: Zane Spears ASSISTANT #2
-Spears has made the most of his predicament at Bensville, and ended up with a NHA Championship, he's gotten bigger, better and reacts well with Darshon in making up a defensive presence on the ice. Not quite as destructive as Darshon, Spears is a technical player that will hit if forced, but would rather set up a scrum along the boards in high pressure situations. No stranger to putting his body on the line, Zane will do anything to avoid a conceded goal, and hence they don't happen very often.
Scoring: C-, Skating: A, Puck-Handling: B, Endurance: A-, Toughness: A+

Defensive Pairing Three -The Defensive Wall
Pair Three is the least favoured Pair in the team, and its unlikely that you'll find fans cheering for Gerald Carson or Karl Kochter. Maybe Kochter because he's 'KK' or 'Dr K', but Gerald Carson lives in the shadow of his younger brother, DL at Westlake High School, and attending UAD for NSCF 6. So Gerald just tries to work hard and play good hockey, as he was never good enough to make national headlines in football, Carson opted for another hard-hitting sport, and excelled, enough to make the national team. Dr K is quite old now, expecting this to be one of his last outings, seeing as its been 4 years since making the team, and KK only took up Hockey after getting a PhD in Engineering, at the age of 33. Now at 39, it is unlikely that the Southland player with continue on towards WCoH 20. This Pairing gets limited game time, averaging about 15 minutes per game, and plays a hybrid style of defense, mixing it up with poking and body checking, but also is able to score occasionally. Basically the only guys willing to go past the blue line and yell for the puck.

LD: Gerald Carson
-Not that anyone really cared that much, instead the race for Gerard's signature mattered more. This makes Carson mad, as it eventually annoys him, due to hockey being the much better sport. So, as we know, "Hulk, SMASH!", and that's exactly what happened...Carson smashes, and sends Gaetsa to the playoffs.
Scoring: A, Skating: B, Puck-Handling: C, Endurance: C+, Toughness: B+

RD: Karl Kochter
-Dr K, the old weapon in the M7 lineup. At the ripe old age of 39, you'd expect hockey newbie Karl Kochter to retire already, but he seems determined to send Michael VII through to a finals tournament for once. Not like he needs anything to add to his credentials. Doctor of Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, Professional Hockey Player, National Team member, one of the 100 richest men in the nation, and gets to put people on the deck and score goals! After just 6 years on the ice, Kochter has had 4 international seasons, 5 professional seasons, and has placed in the Top 5 for team goals scored in two of three WCoH campaigns. Kochter looks first to take the puck off you, and then if the peaceful method fails, he'll make the effort to put you down on the ice. An unlikely fighter, KK just wants the little black rubber disc on the ground, so give it to him, or you might feel the wrath of a middle-aged, beer-swilling hockey player! KK is one of the more unusual players on this team, and easily took home the 'Oldest Man' award at the Frbiba Phoenix team night after the season.
Scoring: B, Skating: A, Puck-Handling: B, Endurance: B-, Toughness: B

Goaltenders -The Protectors
Goaltenders are a weird bunch. They have to be a little insane surely? Padding up in front of a net, with huge players flying at you, trying to just see, let alone protect the net from, a tiny black rubber disk zooming past at up to 100 mph, while also bearing the burden of the fans' hatred should a goal get through. Oh, and you're out there for the entire game. Forget the skaters who just play for 90 seconds or so and then rest for 5 minutes, the goalies are out there forever, just waiting for their chance to pounce. With Grenky and Aschweld on board, M7 is looking pretty god in front of the net, especially with the assistance of the defensive pairings, but a great team could sink us by putting a couple on the board, which is a deathly position for M7 to be in.

Starter: Robert Grenky
Stance: Butterfly, Team: Riverside Flood.
Notes: Watch the corners, Grenky protects 5-hole perfectly, but is susceptible up high and from the point.

Reserve: Martin Aschweld
Stance: Orthodox, Team: Nova Schmejga Breakers.
Notes: The 5-hole is open if forced to react quickly to pressure. Aschweld has top of the net down pat, but can be taken down low or in close to the net.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Mark Tasher
-Mark Tasher survives for another WCoH campaign! Hooray! Can we qualify this time? Hopefully! Tasher's harsh coaching environment should work well this time for the mostly veteran lineup, that will be used to years of hard work, and only a small break from domestic play. Goalies will be pulled, penalties will be taken, and goals will be conceded, as the 3rd period will be almost all-out-attack. Its how Tasher's always worked, and it is very good at domestic level, but is it workable on the international stage?

Assistant Coach/Goalie Coach: Jonathan Kalt
-The man after Mark's job since WCoH 15, Jonathan Kalt has taken on the role of Goalie Coach in the National team this year, working with Robert and Martin to hope that minimal goals will be scored. Martin could be an issue, as Kalt only every played in the butterfly position, but as long as he can point out Martin's errors, he should be set for a cruisy ride through qualifying where Tasher could indeed fail to meet expectations. Again.

Trainer: Paul Newstubb
-In this lineup, the only guys happy to see Pauli are the Line 3 guys, who like injuries as it proves that they've given it their all. But, Newstubb works well as a conditioning coach and team doctor/physio, that will prepare guys for the ice quickly through great recovery methods. Once fixed, Paul will tell you to walk it off with laps of the rink, the players aren't in for an easy ride this tourney.

Offensive Co-Ordinator: Mike Datchet
-Mike is the offensive kingpin here, advising Mark on what to run from the offense and which lines he thinks should take the ice at what time. Datchet is widely seen as Mark's successor, but don't tell Jonathan that, he won't be too pleased. Datchet is especially good at planning the forecheck and dump-and-chase strategy, contrasting Kalt's theory that one can work the puck up the ice and not need to rely on a forecheck.

Defensive Co-Ordinator: Jude Kart
-Jude, the defense man, and the one behind Bensville's impenetrable defense, has taken up the role of National team Defensive Co-ordinator again, for the 3rd time. Kart works well with a big checking line, and will advise Tasher on all things defense, including when to release the D-Men of Doom and The Checkers, for when we want to add extra hurt to our opponent's destruction.

Special Teams Coach: Werner Ferguson
-Ferguson will control the Special Teams. Ferguson has combined the Powerplay Coach role and parts of the Defensive Co-ord's role to become the Special Teams coach that will run the Powerplay, Extra Attacker and Shorthanded lines. Another 3 year veteran here, hopefully we'll have solid numbers in the penalty scoring/killing department!
