Tl;dr: shit's fucked bro

Quick Rundown:

Big streak of terror attacks happens in arc 1 that leads to TIAMA (the main organization for heroes) being gutted and a shell of itself. Currently the TIAMA teams are being on investigation duty on two different things. With shit about to hit the fan again from the looks of things.
silly little creature, she/they
apologies if im like, really aloof. this site has an affect on me.

    Gender: Female
    Age: 16-years-old
    Appearance:
    Face close-up
    Scrap costume
    Eye Color(s):
    Right Eye: Jade Green
    Left Eye: Light Blue
Hair Color: Black with red highlights
    Height: 5 feet 2 inches/157.48 centimeters

Motivations
    Goals:
  • Put dent in gang control of her neighborhood
  • Get accepted into a good engineering college
  • Not lose anymore family
  • Fight corruption of dirty cops and politicians
  • Prove TIAMA’s hypocrisy
  • Open her own garage
    Fears:
  • Losing another family member
  • Gang warfare going out of control
  • Losing fight against illegal drug trade
  • Accidentally killing someone

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Super Intelligence Mutation
    Powers :
  • Genius - Though currently mostly self taught, Scrap is a natural born prodigy. Everything she uses in costume is both designed, built, and maintained herself.
    Abilities:
  • MacGyverisms - Scrap is able to turn raw materials she scrounges from her grandfather’s junkyard and other sources into gadgets she can use in the field.
  • Tailoring - Though no expert, Scrap not only homemade her costume but maintains and repairs it when parts get damaged.
  • Mechanic - While no professional, Scrap designed, built, and maintains her Scrap Cycle herself. She’ll also perform basic maintenance on the motorcycle she uses as her civilian transportation.
  • Self-Defense Training/Street Fighting - While no professional fighter, Scrap has taken civilian self defense classes and picked up a lot of ways to fight while growing up on the streets. She has also picked up some of the brawling techniques used by her grandfather and his friends.
  • First Aid Training - Picked up originally to prevent any awkward hospital visits, Scrap has the basic knowledge to deal with basic injuries.
  • Parkour And Gymnastics - Used for many years before Phoenix got her license, this was her main means of traversing around her neighborhood. Both as Scrap and in her civilian life, she continues to use it to reach places her bikes can either not reach, not fit, or would blow her stealth. Combined with Phoenix attending gymnastics classes essentially ever since she could walk, she is highly flexible and healthily athletic.
    Equipment:
  • Custom Smartphone - A self-built and programmed model, Scrap’s phone can wirelessly sync with her goggles and mask, and has apps designed specifically for use in the field. She has separate cases for it that she’ll swap between for time as Scrap and civilian life.
  • Scrap Costume - Soaked in a custom concoction of off the shelf chemicals, her Scrap costume is equivalent to modern designs in defense against blades and bullets similar to those used by police. Thanks to normal wear, she has to reapply the solution every now and then. Half intentionally to hide Phoenix’s distinctive physical features, the outfit includes smart goggles - provides her with a heads-up display, ultraviolet/thermal vision, and integrated audio - and an air-tight mask - provides limited filtration capabilities, short term air supply, a built-in microphone, and some voice changing ability - all able to wirelessly sync with her phone and the Scrap Cycle.
  • Scrap Cycle - A custom designed and self-built two-wheeled vehicle, the Scrap Cycle is her means of transportation when in costume (which it can wirelessly sync with). Commonly used features are multi-spectrum lights, white noise speakers to make the engine quieter, and integrated dart launchers. It also has fold out wheels that allow Scrap to make use of the city’s rail system as both a means to get around and recharge its batteries. She also possesses a separate motorcycle for her civilian life where it is not only her pride and joy and a well maintained means of transportation, but a useful way to provide an excuse for some ways she can get dirty and/or injured while out and about as Scrap.
  • Tool Kit - Her version of the cliche utility belt, this is Scrap’s supply of self-made and store bought gear. Contents can vary, but it is not uncommon to see grapplers, multi-tools, Swiss Army knives, rope, cables, cable ties, a stethoscope, twist ties, electronic lock picks, physical lock picks, wire cutters, zip tie cuffs, bolos, zip lines, a camera, snacks, funds ‘liberated’ from criminals she’s fought, and the like.
  • Dart Launcher Gauntlets - Worn around her wrists, these are Scrap’s main means of combat. Given her lack of supplies, aside from normal darts, she’ll usually maintain a supply of taser and tracking darts. The Gauntlets are also designed with cutting ‘dorsal fins’ and are overall hardened if she needs to block a blade strike or punch someone.
  • Chain Knuckles - A knuckle-like extra add-on for her gloves that Scrap crafted from repurposed bicycle chains for when she needs more oomph to her punches than her gauntlets alone can provide. Custom circuitry allows for her to mildly electrify the striking surface at will.
  • Scrap Cave - Centered around a self-modified abandoned subway station, the Scrap Cave is her secret base of operations where she plots, plans, experiments, designs, crafts, and otherwise works on her gear. There is also a ‘public’ above ground section her civilian friends are aware of and is often used as the group’s hang-out spot.
    Weaknesses:
  • Durability And Reliability - Given the majority of her gear is self-made from recycled scrap, the durability can vary, but is usually less than anything professionally made. This home made nature of her gear can also result in a few more duds and misfires than professional equipment would permit.
  • Electricity And Water - Scrap’s outfit and gear aren’t really grounded or insulated, so not only could a decent enough surge fry her equipment, but could also potentially knock her out or even kill her. Also, Scrap’s electrical equipment can be shorted out if drenched in water; This can not only disable her ability to deal stun damage, but carries the ever slim chance of it discharging into her body instead.
  • Hacking - As she’s self taught, Scrap’s coding and encryption skills would likely be no match against a meta or mundane specialized in electronic breaching.
  • Legality - Scrap is technically breaking many laws in her fight against gangs. From the list of crimes she’s committed fighting crime, Scrap could technically see jail time herself.

Background:
Job: Part timer at grandfather’s junkyard and various jobs during breaks from school
    Legal Status:
  • Civilian - Public high school student
  • In Costume - Vigilante
Backstory: Born to a Scottish American mother and Greek American father, Phoenix grew up learning about both sides of her heritage. The fact her maternal grandfather, a retired Marine who owns and operated a private junkyard, was a major feature in her life was certainly no small reason for this interest. Growing up, she loved hearing his stories, like how his mother, her great-grandmother, was a selkie.

Though it was obvious from a young age - among other things, she took apart the family’s toaster at the age of four and tried to ‘improve’ it - this was initially passed off as just inheriting her grandfather’s mechanical aptitude and curiosity. It wasn’t until she was officially tested that her superhuman intelligence was discovered. However, only but a few days into first grade tragedy struck: a new gang was making moves against the established gangs that controlled the neighborhood and Phoenix’s parents were caught in the crossfire. Killed in a burglary gone wrong while she was sleeping over at a friend’s place, she was lucky that it was her friend’s mom who found the bodies. It was only her grandfather’s close association with her which prevented Phoenix from entering the system; though legally adopted by her grandfather and moving in with him, she still kept her father’s surname.

While still legal owners of the Tatopoulos home, neither could even bring themselves to really enter for years, though her grandfather did empty the perishables and got Phoenix’s things moved out. Such a loss at such a young age had quite the impact on the girl - though already pretty much a tomboy, she withdrew more into the world of machines to escape. In fact, if not for the efforts of her organic friends, she might have disappeared into that world fully; though she did manage to wrangle a ‘secret base’ built as a clubhouse on her grandfather’s junkyard. Over the years, her friends preventing her from losing herself or becoming suicidal, Phoenix established herself as a gear head type. As the childhood clubhouse developed into a proper living area through the efforts of not only Phoenix and her friends, but her grandfather and his comrades, it became the site of regular slumber parties and general hanging out - eventually, Phoenix moved into the former clubhouse full time (still a dependent on her grandfather, and being still on his property, she didn’t qualify as an emancipated minor).

What Phoenix hadn’t told anyone about was the abandoned subway station she had discovered underneath her clubhouse early on. Making sure to secure hidden access points to it from the public above ground section, she personally worked on converting it into a secret base from which to find and get revenge against the gangs that killed her parents; this aim shifted somewhat in sixth grade when a close friend was unexpectedly rendered comatose from a drug overdose. This second event opened her eyes beyond just her revenge to the wider problems the gangs were causing on her neighborhood. Starting by acting as a private citizen - earning the distinctive scar across her nose in an attempted mugging (luckily a passing beat cop managed to apprehend the criminal before anything else happened), it wasn’t long before the preteen was donning the first incarnation of her Scrap costume and taking to the night streets to better find and anonymously report crime.

Following the mugging incident, in addition to her lifelong gymnastic classes, Phoenix’s grandfather mandated she take self-defense lessons. Taking what she learned from public lessons at the local community center (she also decided to take first aid classes there as well), she began more proactively stopping crimes. Especially after accidentally figuring out a concoction that rendered the fabric aspects of her costume as tough as Kevlar, Phoenix’s Scrap persona became more widely known - though most thugs would rather die before admitting they were beaten by a kid.

Over the next four years, Phoenix developed a sort of grudge against TIAMA: while she was out dealing with gang bangers, drug pushers, and other street level hoodlums, you rarely heard about TIAMA heroes being involved in anything not high profile. Sure, the girl understood the need to thwart bank robbers, international terrorists, serial murderers, and the rest, but she felt this was more and more all she was hearing about them; there were a couple, however, she did hear things about a few members that made them exceptions in her books.

During those same years, Scrap became more publically known with agents from the NYPD, TIAMA, and others trying to bring the clearly young vigilante in ‘for her own good’. Thanks to salvaged police scanners, years of learning secret shortcuts, and nightly practice at hiding, Phoenix has thus far been able to avoid being cornered; though, even she’ll say it’s often because of bigger fish to fry.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Olympia Argyros-Smith
    Aliases: Achillea
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16
    Appearance:
Here. Achillea stands at six feet and five inches and weighs about two hundred and three pounds, with a very muscular, athletic build. Whenever she's not in her costume, she's usually wearing some sort of athletic gear. She also has a tailour-made helmet that she wears while on missions.

Motivations
Goals: Her goals tend to be two-fold: she wants to push herself and maximize her powers as much as possible, and to become the best super hero ever. The latter goal she views as almost a near-obsessive necessity - to her, she's better than everyone around her, and she needs to compensate for everyone's shortcomings by outperforming them.
Fears: Mostly she's afraid of her own limits - not only losing her powers, but also to be seriously injured in a way - especially around her left heel - that would permanently prevent her from doing what she believes she was born to do.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: The suspected reincarnation of Achilles, the figure from Greek legend.
    Powers:
  • Significantly Increased Damage Resistance & Endurance: Like her namesake and possible ancestor, Achillea is resistant to most forms of damage, be they things like bullets, knives, and even brute force damage. Her skin acts almost like a deterrent to sharp objects or bullets, as if it was a thick hide, causing smaller caliber bullets and duller knives to simply bounce off of it while larger bullets or sharper weapons can penetrate but do much less damage than they would to normal humans. Further, Achillea has an extreme tolerance for pain, often not even noticing certain wounds that would put others out of commission.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Be it running farther, fighting longer, or even staying awake for days on end, Achillea does it better than others. Her innate physical stamina is significantly better than anyone else she has been measured against.
  • Superhuman Strength: Far from the abilities of other superhumanly-strong individuals in TIAMA, while Achillea's strength is classified as "superhuman", it's only so relative to non-metas. She's much stronger than the average person, but compared to other metas, her strength is pretty average. She can lift about one ton's worth of weight, but strains to do so.

    Abilities:
  • Neo-Pankration: Intentionally choosing a predecessor to MMA instead of MMA itself, she is well versed in the fighting style of the modern Pankration practices.
  • Wrestling: Technically different than Neo-Pankration, she is also a champion of wrestling.
  • She can speak Ancient Greek and Latin fairly well, though is mostly self-taught.
  • Has a very intense regular workout regime that most non-metas would consider extreme.
    Equipment:
  • An Aspis-styled Shield, shown as it is in her reference photo. The shield is, unlike the traditional Aspis, is not made out of wood. Instead, it is made out of cast magnesium alloyed with manganese, scandium, and calcium. Its edges are dulled, but can still be a potent offensive weapon if necessary.
  • A Doru-styled Spear. The spear's tip is incredibly sharp and is made out of cast magnesium alloyed with manganese, scandium, and calcium. The spear's staff is made out of reinforced aluminum.
  • A Xiphos-styled Sword, made of the same material as the spear's tip. Like the spear, it is incredibly sharp.
  • A full set of armour that emulates the style of the traditional hoplite, including greaves, forearm covers, and a chest plate. All of these are done up in the traditional historical style of the hoplite, though beneath the outward thin layer of metal, most of the armour is made instead of material from stab-proof vests.
  • A ballistic vest that she wears under her stab-proof chest plate.
    Weaknesses:
  • Narcissism & Saviour Complex: Not necessarily a weakness to counter her powers, but a worthwhile inclusion in this section is her general narcissism. Going beyond an obsession with self-image, she often believes that she can do no wrong nor ever has - if something goes wrong, it was someone else's fault. She also believes that it is her responsibility (and thus, her Gods-given mission) to act as a protector for not just the people, but for other heroes in TIAMA.
  • Achillea's Heel: Like her namesake, her left heel is completely unaffected by her resistance and pain tolerance. If she receives any damage here, while the pain would be similar to a normal person's experience, it would be quite shocking to her.
  • Too Angry to Die: Achillea has a physiological/biological reaction to both exerting herself in battle/training as well as when she receives damage. Doctors theorise that this is a side-effect of her body's resistance to damage and lack of pain receptors. When exerting herself, her adrenal glands go into overdrive, producing adrenaline levels far beyond a normal person's. In short, the longer she fights, the angrier she gets. The angrier she gets, the more prone she is to making fatal mistakes. Or worse.
  • Double-Edged Pain Tolerance: Achillea feels much less pain than most other people. Coupled with her general resistance to damage, this often works in her favour, combining with her massive stamina to keep her in fights way longer than others could. However, often in the heat of battle she could potentially receive grievous, nearly-mortal wounds and not notice. In short, if she sustains enough damage, there is the potential that she could go beyond what any normal person could survive and not notice until it is too late.

Background:
Job: Full-time member of TIAMA's academy and meta program.
Legal Status: Born, legal citizen of the United States.
Backstory: It is widely believed by many that the Greek myth of Achilles and his son Neoptolemus was myth - pure legend. Even though the kings of Epirus claimed descent from Achilles, these claims are brushed off by modern historians as not just widely exaggerated, but as entirely fiction. Unbeknownst to these historians, they're wrong. Achilles was indeed a living, breathing person, an icon of Ancient Greek Culture, and an outspoken warrior, protected by "the Gods" and the power of the "River Styx". In reality, it's not known what gave Achilles his powers, but, for whatever reason, they were certainly genetic.

Achilles' descendants ruled Epirus in one for or another until its conquest by the Romans when they scattered throughout Greece and the classical world. Some of these descendants departed to Italy and throughout the Mediterranean, while others remained in Greece or Anatolia, serving the Roman Empire and its Eastern successor state. All throughout these periods, however, obscure records of warriors throughout the Mediterranean, strong beyond belief and nigh-impervious to damage seem to appear and disappear in various historiographies.

Regardless, one n-th generation descendant of Achilles ended up in the United States of America in 1967, following the Regime of the Colonels. This descendant, one Michael Argyros and his wife, ended up moving to Buffalo, New York, and started a business there. One of Michael's sons Stergios Argyros moved to New York City in 1988, where he met Isabella Smith. The two gradually courted one another and married in 1996. During this time Stergios went to law school and eventually became a lawyer while Isabella helped support the two by working as a secretary. They moved to Nyack, NY in 2000, finally buying a house while still both working in NYC. Shortly after, they had a son in 2002 and a daughter, Olympia, in 2004. While their son was timid, reserved, and introverted, their daughter was not. It quickly became obvious that the little Olympia, from the time that she could walk, had a nasty temper. More than that, she could run around all day and night with little regard to her exhaustion levels. Finally, she was massive, significantly larger than any kid her age.

Eventually, worrying for her genetic state, her parents took her to a doctor, who acknowledged the abnormal "mutations" Olympia had experienced, but could not find an answer to them. Eventually, he contacted a number of different specialists, one of them newly-specialized into Meta studies. It wasn't long before her parents were asked to start bringing her by TIAMA's offices. By the time she was ten, her temperament, size, and other issues meant that it was hard for her parents to continue to take care of her full-time without treatment. Eventually, when she was eleven, TIAMA took full-time care of her. Her parents still visited her while she lived and schooled at the Academy, but it was rare for her to ever spend more than a few hours with her family.

During her time at the academy, she took little time in embracing her physical side and becoming incredibly physically imposing, even at a young age. As soon as she could, she began working out in the Academy's gyms, and with training and treatment, was able to harness her anger and her powers. She also became enamoured with her Greek background, and took every opportunity to learn about Ancient Greece despite her very mediocre performance at the Academy's actual academics. She made few friends due to her imposing physical stature and emerging narcissism.

Many were afraid of her temper and her size, some often referring to her as a "ticking time bomb". Despite this, she tried as best she could to socialize with her peers, and the smart students avoided antagonizing her at all costs. Since coming into her own during her teenage years, she has become increasingly interested in trying to push the limits of her abilities to see how far she can go - she trains harder, runs faster, etc. She wants to do good, since she believes it's necessary for her to - without her, TIAMA's younger divisions would be hopeless.
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals: Enough money to retire for the rest of his life. Though the thrill of the kill does play a role too.
Fears: Suffocation. Starvation. A repeat of what happened in 2007.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Mutation through exposition to a large amount of interdimensional energy caused by the collapse of an unstable interdimensional gateway.
    Powers :
    • Capable of transferring objects into and out of another dimension he calls "pocket". Said objects must not be wider than 50 cm in diameter.
    • Objects who came in contact with this other dimension become invisible to the eye.
    • Capable of seeing a wider array of lights and colours, allowing him to also see the objects he has placed in the pocket.
    • Jaws have fused together, creating a fairly tough construction of bones in much of his face.
    Abilities:
    • Trained former member of the GIGN Paranormal Affairs Section
    • Trained in the handling of a variety of firearms
    • Trained in close quarters combat
    • Trained in the handling of explosives
    • Trained in breaking and entering
    • Trained in handling dangerous metahumans
    • Fast typer
    Equipment:
    • A wide array of handheld firearms
    • A good number of bayonets, army knives and throwing knives
    • Several Tomahawks and at least one crowbar
    • A bunch of military grade explosives
    • Several syringes with a highly nutritious food replacement liquid
    • A text-to-speech device
    Weaknesses:
    • Incapable of consuming food or drink via regular means, being relegated to an IV or his syringes.
    • The Nose. Extreme weakness. With him being only capable of breathing through his nose, the Mime makes extra sure that it is always cleared and protects it at all cost. Getting a runny nose can be fatal to him. Getting his nose broken is almost a death sentence.
    • Despite the objects having become invisible, they continue to throw a shadow. Heat signatures also still exist.

Background:
    Job: Contract Killer
    Legal Status: Wanted Criminal
Backstory: Hubert was born in Metz in 1980 to an unassuming household consisting of a father in the police force and a mother working at the mayoral office. Of course Hubert grew up looking up to his father, despite or perhaps because of the regular beatings he received. He graduated with above average grades from his school and immediately entered the police force, serving with the Gendarmerie for 5 years before deciding that he needed to do his father even more proud and signing up with the GIGN. The training was grueling but Hubert persevered and eventually managed to become part of GIGN, being one of the top recruits he was assigned to the GIGN subsection that had to deal with metahumans.

His first proper mission with the GIGN was to also be his last. In 2007 the GIGN was sent to take care of what appeared to be a cult to some godforsaken entity from another reality. The cultists had taken hostages and holed themselves up in the ruins of an old Templar Castle. The operation was going smoothly up untill they got eyes on the proceedings in the Central Stronghold. About a dozen or so cultists were chanting in an otherworldly language while dragging hostages into a circle carved into the stone, slitting their throats and letting them bleed out. The air above the circle was flirring, taking on a great many colours and shapes, some of which hurt to look at with the eyes.

With the lives of the hostages at stake, GIGN was ordered to intervene. The cultists were killed within the blink of an eye and what few hostages remained were saved...or so everyone thought. Turns out that interrupting whatever spell they had been weaving to summon whatever ungodly messiah onto this world was a bad idea as the created tear within the fabric of reality began collapsing. In the process of this a large amount of interdimensional energy was released within one single shockwave, killing most of the hostages and GIGN present. Hubert was one of the few who survived, though he fell into a coma.

He would wake up weeks later in a hospital and be confronted with the results of their mission. Not only were most of his comrades dead...he had been cursed with certain limitations. His ability to speak was gone. As was his ability to eat and drink. His jaws, bones, flesh and skin had fused together, creating nothing but a perfectly smooth surface on the lower half of his face. Hubert was horrified. And he was only going to become more horrified as he was suspended from the GIGN due to, in their opinion, not being capable of fulfilling their missions anymore. He had become a hideous freak without a job and was even on trial for potentially having fucked up the mission, together with all the other surviving GIGN members involved in the operation.

Of course the case had to be dropped but it still left a sour taste in Hubert's forever closed mouth. What was he to do now? Become some clerk? Hah! Not without half his face! Maybe some other, better paying job? Well, he had wasted precious years of his life getting into the GIGN, he had no skills he could truly market and even then...he was a freak. At the very least he still had his parents, both of which lovingly cared for him...but he couldn't bear to stay with them, see the pain in their eyes whenever they had to look at his face, drain what little money they earned by not contributing to the household. Instead he did what he knew how to do. He kept himself in shape. Learned to type, quickly.

The breakthrough then finally came when he, almost on accident, unlocked his new power. He was just trying to put the milk back into the fridge when...the milk instead vanished. He was confused and...and just put his hand where he had just put the milk...and voila, it was back in his hand! Slightly confused he put it back into the fridge and left...only to be called later by his mother, asking him where the milk was. He directed her to the fridge just for her to maintain that there was no milk. He went to the fridge and pulled the milk out, waving it before her face...just for her to ask him to stop playing such pranks on her, it wasn't funny. It was at this point that Hubert realized he had powers. It was at this point he realized that he had joined the ranks of his enemies...yet this also offered him new possibilities.

He left his parents' house later that day. From his time in the Gendarmerie he had some knowledge of the criminal underworld, knowledge he used to put himself out on the job market, marketing his skills. At first he tried theft...but he did not like the idea of being some common thief and...well...the fact that everything he stole also turned invisible kind of lowered the value of the things he stole by a lot. So...he decided to become a contract killer instead. From 2010 onward he was taking hits from a variety of people against targets all over Europe and North Africa. A few times he even ventured into the new world. He took an alias for his activities, calling himself the Mime.

From 2017 onward, the Mime took a long term contract from an unknown source, bringing his skills to bear for a single employer at their beck and call. They paid well so he saw little problem in it.

Accepted.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals: Outwardly just to have a legal job where she can use her unique skills and abilities. Inwardly made friends at Cross' academy and prefers to be with them.
Fears: Losing her friends. Being put on trial for majorly fucking up (ever since 3/27). Being kidnapped and held against her will.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Meta Gene activated by contact with a Portuguese Man-o-war.
    Powers :
    • Intangibility - Does what it says it does. By activating this power Vivian is capable of manipulating the electromagnetic force of objects in order to phase through objects and let objects phase through her. Now you could argue that that'd mean that anytime she'd phase out she would just literally sink into the ground and be lost forever. Well, no. Think of her phasing making the world around her become like the sea and she essentially swims through it, capable of controlling whether she goes up or down or straight. Another thing to note is that while phasing she also phases through air and thus can't breathe it, being restricted to the 80 cubic foot diving cylinder she carries with her or holding her breath. Straining her power to its maximum she can go on a 45 minute phase, though it will likely exhaust her for the rest of the day. Otherwise she has about 1 hour of phasings a day if she leaves time inbetween for her body to recover.
    Abilities:
    • Excellent Athlete
    • Excellent Acrobat
    • Excellent Swimmer
    • Pretty good at CQC
    Equipment:
    • Modified diving suit - Created as a stopgap solution initially to keep her alive when she couldn't control her powers, the suit has since seen upgrades created in collaboration with TIAMA (and due to Vivian growing attached to the thing). The first and most important of said upgrades becoming rather than keeping Vivian contained during a phase, it'd phase with her, together with all its contents, allowing her to actually utilize it. Is somewhat armoured though most spots won't protect from guns and there are plenty of spots where regular slicing weapons can get through. Generally think of it as metal = bulletproof for regular small arms, leather = cut resistant for regular types of sharp weapons (you know, knives), white = unprotected. Also inclubes an 80 cubic foot diving cylinder with a pressurized gas mixture to allow Vivian to breathe even through extended phasings.
    • Harpoon launcher with attached wire to retract the harpoon/let Vivian reach spots she otherwise couldn't. Range is at roughly 10 meters. Wire can be removed.
    • Drill. Self explanatory.
    Weaknesses:
    • Zinc gluconate - it's not known why this is so, possibl due to a mutation or something in the meta gene brought on by the shock from the Portuguese Man-o-War but contact with zinc gluconate immediately and painfully rips Vivian out of her phasing and makes it impossible to phase again for the next 5 minutes as Vivian has to recuperate from that shock.
    • Magic is a very consistent blocker for her phasing ability.
    • Rematerializing - this is an obvious one and probably not exactly a weakness either but I feel it's important to note. Rematerializing inside solid objects can kill her.
    • Electromagnetic Interference - Electromagnetic Interference caused by ionizing radiation or magnets will interfere with her power to varying degrees based on the strength of the electromagnetic interference put out by them. So for example some close range radiation rays will rematerialize her instantly and a strong magnet in a wall will make her bonk against the wall but the nuclear reactor several concrete walls away or the cheap kids magazine magnet pushed through her immaterial body will do little more than give her nausea.

Background:
    Job: TIAMA Academy Graduate
    Legal Status: British Citizen.
Backstory: Vivian was born in Cornwall, UK, to Arthur and Lucy Thorne, an aging couple of former London Bankers who had made enough money for themselves to head into an early retirement in the beautiful british countryside and raise a child of their own. As such Vivian experienced loving parents and beautiful, healthy countryside early on in her life and never had need for anything. Untill one fateful vacation to the Bahamas in 2014.

Little Vivian was swimming all alone in the sea when suddenly she received an extreme shock, having had the immensely bad luck of becoming victim to a Portuguese Man-o-War, the beach being closed shortly after. Her father immediately came to her rescue and pulled her out of the sea but the damage was done. She was a young child and Man-o-War poison was potent. Very much so...but to her great luck a great deal of the poison was apparently rerouted or neutralized, causing her dormant meta gene to activate and go...haywire. To her own great luck this happened only a bit later, while she was in hospital care and being treated with zinc gluconate for if that hadn't been the case, she likely would've died that very day, not from the poison but from sinking straight into the ground untill randomly rematerializing. Still, it was excrutiating, with her body reacting very poorly to the zinc gluconate.

Neither of her parents were thrilled with what was going on and soon commissioned a metahuman expert, the likes of which started popping up everywhere after the masquerade was cast down, to examine their daughter and see what was wrong. The expert was...well...not the best but he gave them some advice, among others to seek out more official organisations with vaster resources. He did however note that she seemed incapable of phasing through magic, whether these were enchanted objects or literally spells cast at her or at something else. According to that her parents tried to find something magical to put her daughter in so she didn't one day wake up cut in half by her own bed. Well, they eventually managed to acquire what appeared to be an antique diving suit, said to have certain magical properties. None that they were able to properly observe of course, perhaps it was just a slight good luck charm for a diver or a shark repellant or something of the sort.

Either way, it worked for young Vivian, though she could hardly move the heavy suit. However, problems kept piling up. For example the fact that she could suffocate inside the suit, being phased out inside the suit and unable to breathe the air which would just phase through her. It'd take frantic banging and waving and a stock of the painful zinc gluconate next to her for her to be able to stay alive.

In the end the parents agreed that it was for the best if their daughter was given into the hands of professionals. And who could be more professional than Dr. Cross himself, the founder of TIAMA, CEO of Epoch and instigator of programs to help metahuman children with their powers. They paid some bills, smeared some gears and brought her daughter over to the state and into Cross' and his academy's care. There her powers would be further analyzed before she was being taught how to properly control them while a drunk small man from TIAMA NA East's support division took to improving her suit a little, making it lighter as well as function more like a conductor for her ability, allowing her to phase together with her suit and the attached air tanks.

Despite an ocean now separating them, Vivian stayed in close contact with her parents and they with her, showering her with luck and well wishes and she reporting back to them on how she was doing, if she was getting any friends and so on. During her time in the Academy she would come to know many other young prospective heroes such as Nox, Knox and Achillea.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Indecipherable
Aliases: Edgar Burke (used as name humans can actually understand), (The) Dark One
    Gender: Presumably Male
    Age: Unknown
    Appearance:
    Image

A rough picture of what Edgar looks like

Motivations
Goals: Serving the interest of his "employers", who have vested interests in events transpiring on Earth and other living planets throughout the Universe. While such interests are vague and/or ambiguous, even to Edgar, his employers have given him objectives that he must complete for his overall mission. For example, one of Edgar's objectives is killing Endsieg.
    Fears: None

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Imagine an infinitely empty space with areas in which existence, as a concept, is true. These areas where existence....exists, are called dimensions. The Universe is merely one part in one of these dimensions (which are theoretically infinite in number). Edgar comes from outside of the Universe, but within the dimension. The source of his powers comes from a thing more fundamental than matter itself: Darkness.

    Powers:

Edgar is a Dark entity, which is a sentient being that is made up entirely of Darkness and is a self-sustaining conduit of the "fundamental element". All powers listed below come as a result of Edgar being a Dark entity.

Matter Annihilation: Matter, as it is understood by humans, is made up of Light, Darkness, Fire, and Lightning/Arc. Protons, neutrons, and electrons are made from a very specific combination of these "fundamental elements". Disrupting the delicate concentrations of these fundamental elements will cause the subatomic particles to destroy themselves. Edgar can grab a human and effective destroy the matter that makes up their body, turning it into Darkness, which he can then absorb into himself. This is not an instantaneous process, however. (ADDENDUM: I didn't feel the need to include a specific aspect about this power, mostly due to lack of relevance. However, seeing as now we have what seems to be an immortal character, I believe it is important to point this out now. Matter Annihilation doesn't just destroy a person's body, but the soul that is inside of them as well.)

Regeneration: Due to the propensity of fundamental elements to expand, Dark entities are capable of healing themselves passively or absorbing more Darkness. For Edgar's case, this would be matter annihilation.

Gliding: While Dark entities are capable of flight, Edgar is not powerful enough to actually possess this ability. Instead, Edgar can channel Darkness in such a way as to glide across air. This effectively negates fall damage, which doesn't matter anyway, because...

Resistance: Due to the nature of Dark entities, they are effectively immune to all forms of damage with certain exceptions [explained in the "Weaknesses" section].

Dark Ball: Think fire balls, but instead of fire, it's Darkness. A headshot produces similar effects to Dark fog.

Dark Fog: Similar to how humans use tear gas, Edgar can throw a ball of Darkness at a target and shroud the area surrounding it in a dark fog for 30 seconds. Any living being caught within it suffers from effects similar to tear gas and other irritants. Prolonged exposure (5-10 seconds for humans, 10-30 seconds for superhumans, depending on resistances) results in permanent injury or death.

Dark Bomb: Dark fog, but much bigger in area. Power is activated via diving into the ground from a variable height. The further the dive, the larger the area of effect. This power is capped at 100 feet in radius, unless Edgar is overcharged.

Overcharge: Dark entities vary massively in power, hence the development of a hierarchical system that places Dark entities on a rung from least to most powerful. Depending on where a Dark entity sits on this ladder, they can only control a certain amount of Darkness. To go over this amount is called overcharging, and Dark entities will quickly decay until they return to their max capacity. In the short time that Dark entities are overcharged, they can use the excess Darkness to make their abilities more powerful or become more resistant.

    Night Vision: Obviously

Dark Shadow: Edgar can be rendered almost completely invisible in environments of total darkness or dim light. This power is negated by those who have night vision capabilities.

Abilities: Edgar's employers have given a generalized overview of how humans and their societies operate, because of this, Edgar possess no abilities outside of his superhuman ones.

    Equipment: None

Weaknesses: While Dark entities are immune to any mortal injuries that can be sustained by humans (or any other living being within the universe), they are susceptible to all other fundamental elements. This being fire, light, and lightning. Edgar is one of the weakest Dark entities on the hierarchical ladder, meaning souls (ie humans) are capable of annihilating him, but it is no easy task. Sunlight does not affect Edgar, but an extremely bright light will harm him to some extent. Exposure to the flames of a flamethrower and even incendiary ammunition does affect him as well. So does a lightning strike, which will severely injure Edgar.

Background:
    Job: Fixer
    Legal Status: Illegal/Undocumented "extra-terrestrial immigrant"

Backstory: Edgar was created by his employers at around the same time humanity was going through the 1800s. His purpose was to be a fixer, going to civilization-bearing planets throughout the universe and ensuring that whatever investments his employers have on that planet are maintained. Edgar is permitted to do this in a number of ways, direct and indirect, but he is beholden to certain restrictions, mainly his and his employer's anonymity. He has been sent to Earth mainly to manage the massive ramifications of "meta-humans", those who have unlocked otherworldly capabilities. While Edgar's employers have demonstrated an expression of distaste toward meta-humans now existing, they have made the decision to realign their investments on Earth to accommodate the change, believing that the "genie has already come out of the bottle". Edgar has now been given a handful of objectives to complete while on his deployment to Earth. It is expected of him to cooperate with TIAMA for the duration of his mission, unless circumstances force him to withdraw from good relations.

Alright, here we go...

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Eluti
Aliases: Vito (TIAMA name), has also gone by the following names throughout history, but is now going by Atalo Kain
    Gender: Male
Age: Looks to be in his late 20s or early 30s, actual age is 7270
    Appearance:
    Image
Stands 5’10” and weighs about 185lbs

Motivations
Goals: To lift the curse placed upon him by Enki. In doing so, protecting the innocent, preserving life and making a difference in the world.
Fears: Enki, large bodies of water (Enki’s domain, and he has died due to drowning so many times), being buried alive again, claustrophobia, the act of coming back to life (specifically what it entails for him)

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Cursed by Enki
    Powers :
A Very Mortal Immortal - Eluti can never truly die. For some, this may seem like a blessing at first glance, but Eluti is well aware of the truth. Eluti's immortality is a curse. Not only because he outlives those he cared for, but because of how Eluti's immortality works. He is an immortal who dies, repeatedly. Be it by being stabbed, shot, torn limb from limb, or being turned to dust, Eluti will always come back.

The time in which Eluti returns to life depends on how severe the damage was to Eluti's body. This ranges from 4 hours to 24 hours. If the body was torn to pieces or turned to dust, then his body will reform at the location with the greatest quantity of his body. Albeit the body won’t look exactly the same. If he wasn't, then his body will just fully heal and return to life. If there is a foreign body, such as a bullet in the wound that resulted in his death, Eluti’s body forces it out of the body, making the process even more painful.

It is also worth noting that no matter how painful his death was, the act of coming back to life is easily as painful if not more so for Eluti, especially when it's drawn out.

Finally, there is a cost to Eluti’s memories. Upon returning to life, Eluti forgets a few key things. First, he forgets the specific details of his past life. For example, while he doesn’t forget the area he lived in, he will forget the day to day events he experienced. He may remember working for a group, but he will forget what he did with them and why. Second, while he remembers the names and faces of friends and foes, he will forget whether they are friend or foe. Third, if he loved or deeply cared for anyone in his past life, he will forget their name and face. Fourth and finally, Eluti will not remember any details (specific or general) from the 24 hours leading up to his death and return to life. The only thing related to his death that he will remember is the how and the pain. By how, I don’t mean Person X killed him, I mean, he died due to being stabbed. For example, say he died after being pushed out of an airplane in flight. He will remember falling from the airplane and hitting the ground. He will not remember who pushed him or why.

Fortunately, there are things he remembers after coming back to life. First, Eluti will remember his name, and all names he has used in the past. Second, he will remember how to speak any languages he’s learned along with how to read and write any languages/scripts he has learned. Third, he remembers all the things he had learned related to arithmetic, science, the arts, history, religion, culture and whatever skills/knowledge he needed for past jobs he had in his past lives. Fourth and finally, he will always remember that his abilities were given to him as a punishment by Enki.

Life Bringer - Eluti's blood, perhaps a side effect of his immortality, promotes life. Well, more specifically, the plasma of Eluti's blood. Wherever he bleeds, life will surely sprout in a matter of hours, even in the harshest environments. That is assuming you brought a seed, as his blood does not create life, just promotes its growth.

However, perhaps the most interesting effect of Eluti's blood is that it promotes regeneration of life along with having disease fighting properties. By applying Eluti's blood to a wounded area, Eluti's blood stimulates the individual's natural healing processes, thus giving the individual a localized healing factor or enhancing any healing factor they may have.

Direct application is the most efficient, however for internal injuries, ingestion or injection would be necessary. Eluti's blood is also able to enhance a body's natural ability to fight diseases, parasites and cancer. The more of Eluti's blood that is used, the greater the potency of the effect.

In fact, Eluti's blood is also capable of halting and even reversing the aging process. Halting the aging process takes approximately 2 litres of Eluti's blood. As for reversing the aging process, every millilitre beyond 2.5 litres reverses the aging process by 1 day. As such, reversing the aging process in an individual is potentially lethal to Eluti.

All that said, much like Eluti’s ability to come back to life, the “healing” performed by his blood is painful for Eluti.

Hardened Nerves - Over the many, many deaths Eluti has experienced, Eluti's mind has learned to suppress pain. Simply put, he can take more punishment than even the most trained non-metahuman. That said, a bullet to the head will kill him just like any other non-metahuman.

The Body Remembers - Despite losing his memory with every death, and sometimes his body, his body retains a sort of instinctual muscle memory. That is to say, he may not remember how to do something physically, but his body does.

    Abilities:
  • Instinctive hand to hand fighting. Wouldn’t call himself a master at it, but skilled enough to put up a good fight.
  • Instinctive weapon usage. Throughout his lives, Eluti has learned to use almost all types of weapons (at least ones it takes only one person to hold). That said, he never mastered anything, but like with the historical European martial arts, is skilled enough to put up a good fight.
  • Instinctive Knowledge. Throughout his lives, Eluti has learned many things, both for his own curiosity and in order to perform certain jobs. While he does not remember undergoing the training or education, he instinctively can recall these skills and knowledge.
  • Tongue of Years. The languages Eluti speaks are a good way of tracking his lives as he moved across the world. These languages he speaks are as follows; Sumerian, Akkadian, Amorite, Minoan, Mycenaean Greek, Doric Greek, Achaean Doric Greek, Attic Greek, Ionic Greek, Illyrian, Etruscan, Old Latin, Celtiberian, Classical Latin, Gaulish, Icenii, Gothic, Late Latin, Vulgar Latin, Koine Greek, Frankish, Old Italian, Old High German, Old French, Arabic, Old Spanish, Sicilian, Italian, Hungarian, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, English, Swiss, Greek and New Latin. The languages/scripts he can read and write are as follows; cuneiform (both Sumerian and Akkadian), Linear A, Linear B, Greek alphabet, Old Italic script, Etruscan alphabet, Latin alphabet, Celtiberian script, Gothic alphabet, and the Arabic alphabet.

    Equipment:
  • Ka-Bar Combat Knife
  • Stun Baton
  • A Beretta M9 + 2 extra 15 round magazines
  • FN P90 + 3 extra 50 round magazines
  • A rather thick leather bound journal + pen
  • 5 sterile 10mL syringes with 16 gauge needles
  • Compression bandages + gauzes mainly for himself

    Weaknesses:
  • Eluti's abilities are not offensive in nature, as such, if Eluti wants to hurt someone, he needs to get a weapon unlike other metahumans.
  • Eluti’s healing, as stated before, is painful and because of that, not ideal. The healing effect of his blood is also temporary.
  • Due to Eluti’s healing being done through his blood, he has a finite limit of healing he can do at any time. Also, Eluti’s blood must be used within a day of it being drawn, as after 24 hours it becomes nothing different from normal blood.
  • Due to Eluti’s cursed immortality, he can not be healed by any means resulting from supernatural or meta abilities. In fact, trying to heal him with metahuman abilities only leads to incredible pain and the worsening of his injury.
  • Still on his immortality, due to the nature of the curse, even if he avoids dangerous activities, he will die every 20 years. So, he can go 20 years, living in a box with nothing that could potentially harm him, but on the summer solstice of the 20th year, he will still die somehow.
  • Not usually a weakness, but still worth mentioning, when it comes to Eluti’s physical condition, he’s no more impressive than a trained non-metahuman fighter. He’s not super strong, super agile, super fast, or any of that.
  • Unknown to Eluti, there is something, a weapon, that exists in the world that if used to kill him will prevent him from coming back. In a bit or irony, the weapon that can kill Eluti is the very same dagger Eluti used to kill the priest of Enki back in 5220 BCE. The dagger exists somewhere in the world, kept in near perfect condition by the same curse that effects Eluti.

Background:
Job: Works for TIAMA but wouldn’t use the word hero
Legal Status: He isn’t a criminal, and he technically isn’t a citizen of any country.
    Backstory:
The story of Eluti begins in ancient Mesopotamia, in the ancient Sumerian city of Eridu. Eluti was born in the summer of 5250 BCE. He was born into the upper class, as his father was a general. So, it was expected that Eluti would follow in the steps of his father, and that was what he attempted. However, that was not going to be Eluti’s fate.

One drunken night, Eluti would seal his fate. He was angry that he wasn’t advancing as fast as he wanted to among the army of Eridu. Eluti believed that he was destined to rise among the ranks faster than he was, and as such, he was being denied what was his. So, he went to the Temple of Enki and caused trouble.

He began by vandalizing the temple, breaking and defacing whatever he could. When a priest discovered him and tried to stop him, Eluti began to yell at the priest. He spewed many insults and blasphemies. He insulted the people of Eridu, the priests, the nobles, the soldiers, the commoners and even the slaves. He then went on to insult the gods, specifically the patron of Eridu, Enki. If he had stopped there, maybe he would have just had a quick death. But he didn’t. Eluti then attacked the priest when the priest confronted him about what he said and started yelling for the guards.

The next day, Eluti was put to death. However, much to everyone’s surprise, he came back to life a few hours later. This was Enki’s punishment for Eluti. For Eluti’s behaviour, all the insults, all the blasphemies, and for the murder of one of his priests; Enki would not let Eluti get off with a quick death. Ten more attempts to kill an increasingly confused and terrified Eluti would follow. After the tenth attempt didn’t kill him permanently, it was decided by the nobility that Eluti would be banished from Eridu. So, in 5220 BCE, Eluti was forced to leave Eridu and begin his eternal life.

As for what happened between 5220 BCE and 2005 CE in regards to Eluti, well here is a timeline highlighting key events. To summarize it, he began moving northward and into Europe where he would bounce around from place to place, living and dying over and over, while being present at a number of battles throughout history. He would eventually leave Europe for North America, but would still return to Europe prior to the World Wars. As for the World Wars, Eluti would fight on the side of the Allies in both wars. During the Cold War, Eluti would generally only get involved in peacekeeping operations.

That was until the end of 2005 CE, when Eluti watched the live news of the Night of the Broken Masks. Perhaps in his past lives he had met metahumans before, but alas, Eluti could not remember. So, the news that there were other humans like him, humans with abilities, piqued his curiosity. Perhaps among these other metahumans there could be someone that could help Eluti break the curse. That said, he would not go actively looking for them.

Eluti would come face to face with another metahuman in 2012 CE, and her name was Keira Fox. They were quick friends and before the year was over they had become romantically involved. Eluti trusted her enough to share the details of his curse with her, and she cared for him. Or, at least that was what Eluti thought. In truth, Keira manipulated him, and by time Eluti figured that out, he was killed.

Keira had witnessed one of Eluti’s previous deaths when she was a child. Eluti would have forgotten, but Keira remembered. She had also witnessed the effect that Eluti’s blood had on life. Since then, she was obsessed with Eluti and his powers, going so far as to dig up long forgotten historical accounts of Eluti. Keira, being as vain as she was, was afraid of getting old and losing her beauty. So, she wanted Eluti for his blood, as she figured it might just be able to counteract aging.

When Eluti came back to life, he was locked up in a windowless room in a completely unknown location. For the next three years, Keira would experiment with Eluti’s blood. Of course, this meant that she would bleed him over and over again. If she took too much and Eluti died, then it was alright, as she would just wait for him to return to life. Eluti would forget that she was responsible for his situation each time he died, as she was careful to make sure she did kill him everyday.

That was until one day in 2015 CE, when for circumstances out of Eluti’s control, Kiera didn’t kill him 24 hours after he came back. She was late, and killed him 25 hours after he came back to life. That 1 hour difference was what would allow Eluti to escape. When he came back to life again, while he forgot the 24 hours leading up to his death, he remembered being the prisoner of someone who wanted his blood. This allowed him to plan his escape.

He was not restrained, as Kiera was more than strong enough to restrain him herself. This lack of restraints allowed Eluti to break out of the room, which was really just a basement room in some house. Before he could get out of the house, he saw Kiera. Since he loved her originally, the first time he came back he saw her as a stranger, but now, with the amount of times she had killed him, her face was known to him. Of course, he didn’t remember why her face was known to him, but with the context of the situation, Eluti just came to the conclusion that she was responsible and that he wouldn’t be able to escape as long as she was alive. So, while Kiera was unaware, Eluti killed her.

Of course, normal people would see him after he escaped, with bloody hands and bloody clothes, which would lead them to calling the police. Eluti did not resist when the police found him walking the streets of Bend, Oregon. He told the police what happened, being completely truthful when he said the following sentence, “I woke up from being dead to find myself in a windowless room with only the memory that I was in danger.”

The police investigated Eluti and his story. The more they investigated, the more it became clear Eluti was a metahuman and that he was serious when he said he “woke up from being dead”. Their investigation eventually caught the attention of The International Association of Meta-Human Affairs. TIAMA eventually came into contact with Eluti, and offered to help provide him with legal assistance. Eluti accepted the offer, and after the investigation and following case were dealt with, Eluti joined up with TIAMA. He felt indebted to them, and so, he wanted to pay back that debt, and maybe they could help him break the curse. Since then, he has been working with TIAMA Western United States.

Well, that was until March 27th, 2020 CE. Eluti saw the news and some weeks later Eluti was transferred to TIAMA Eastern United States.

While an interesting concept, I'm afraid it's also broken in terms of balancing. I mean, this character would have the equivalent of the delete button, while the weakness section is neither crippling, nor long enough to justify the powers. Additionally, for being close to 300 hundred years, the bio of the character does not meet the qualifications needed for a character to live that long. Lastly, we have a rule that you can only app a villain character, after you already made a hero character.

On these grounds, the App is: Denied

Thank you for your time, and have a nice day.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Eluti
Aliases: Vito (TIAMA name), has also gone by the following names throughout history, but is now going by Atalo Kain
    Gender: Male
Age: Looks to be in his late 20s or early 30s, actual age is 7270
    Appearance:
    (Image)

He began by vandalising the temple, breaking and defacing whatever he could.

For Eluti’s behaviour, all the insults, all the blasphamies, and for the murder of one of his priests; Enki would not let Eluti get off with a quick death.

Right, I'm afraid that, the app as it is, is impossible to approve. Immortality, at least full immortality, is banned, however, this can rather easily be solved with adding one weakness, something that can permanently kill Eluti.
