Hello and welcome to the Best of P2TM 2017 Awards, a tradition started by Sentinel XV in 2013. It is our great pleasure to continue this tradition. May it inspire you as readers, writers, conworlders and gamers.

It's been several years since the founding of P2TM, when Our Lords and Saviors (a.k.a., Admin and the Mods) took us from the deserts of F7 and brought us here, to the Promised Land. Since that time, around early June of 2012, we have grown into a sizable, thriving RP community. Through hard work, best practices, and general stubborness, we earned the privledge of breaking from "General" to be clustered in our own category (named by Cerillium): The Fifth Dimension. Forum 7 remained part of us, for we will not leave our beloved history behind. Couldn't have done any of this without you! Take a bow!

These accomplishments are more than respectable. They are amazing. They are awesome. And it requires an awards ceremony, something to memorialize the greatest threads and the greatest moments of 2017, and to serve as a reminder as we go on through the years as to how phenomenal our talented roleplayers are.

What this is not is a popularity contest. We've seen them used in this manner. Talent and popularity are not the same thing. You are welcome to run your own popularity contest to feature categories such as "cutest P2TMer" or "favorite roleplayer". The "Best Of P2TM" recognizes talent, dedication, excellence, and creativity in the hope of inspiring the next generation of denizens to strive on in style.

All entries must use the nomination form. You don't have to answer every category however. You may not nominate yourself for individual awards, though you may nominate your roleplay as OP/GM.

Cheating and Puppet Wanking will not be tolerated.

Please do not clutter this thread with off topic, casual conversations. If people want to discuss a nomination's merits or flaws, sure, people can weigh in. That includes the person nominated. Be respectful. "Vote for Me/This Person" promotion doesn't belong here. Take it to your OOC or Group threads.

The NOMINATION DEADLINE is 12 JANUARY, 2018, 1800 UTC (6 PM UTC; convert to your local time here). Any nominations after that deadline will not be accepted.

Nominations must be for things done in P2TM in 2017.

You may not self-nominate nor use puppets to nominate yourself or vote. Puppet wankers will be disqualified (their entire nomination form will be as well).

A note on "NOMINATE ME!" incessant solicitation: This will be taboo again this year. If your stuff is good, peeps will nominate you for it. Don't beg for nominations/votes in the Awards thread or Awards Discussion thread, please.

Yes, non-Mentors can be judges. We'd like a variety of people from various groups/cliques to help with judging. It allows us to be more impartial. As always, written entries are posted without the author or RP name in order to judge solely based upon the quality of their writing.

Do "newcomers" and not-so-well-knowns have a chance to win an award? You bet! Please don't hesitate to nominate people you know. This thing isn't just for long-running RP or large groups. There's so much talent to be found in our forum... let's showcase as much as we can. If volunteers do not need to join the organization, or be associated in any way, then what if they are barred from entry due to a stance by said organization, or rivalry between certain staff and a player?

I'd find it rather unsettling if an event advertised as being a P2TM community event sees volunteers barred due to a specific group's not wanting them to judge. Wouldn't it be more fair/impartial to see said hosting on another forum, or to ask for greater mod oversight in this?

Your judge application denial is not based on "rivalry" between staff and yourself. It is because you are DOS on the forum hosting the "writing contest" portion; you would be unable to participate as a judge for this reason. Your DOS is due to egregious and unprofessional behaviors which brought about your permanent ban from Madhouse Productions and its offerings. These bans were reinforced by Moderation. Your removal is public record.

You are not barred from viewing the hosted contest portion (it is public) nor are you barred from being nominated for an award. Should your writing be nominated, it would be presented to the judging panel "blind", meaning the author's name is not identified - this grants impartiality and curtails favoritism, leaving the work to be judged on merit. You are more than welcome to submit nominations for the contest as well. You are certainly allowed to post in this thread; I do ask that you keep it on topic and not allow it to devolve into drama.

This still doesn't exactly address the issue. If this ruling makes it so that player like myself, GT, Bran, or other players you know could not volunteer, then it's still not exactly fair because a P2TM community event is hosted by a single group who can decide who and who can't be judges.
