Roleplayers
Include links to person's work, if necessary, and reasons why you think they deserve an award.
Best Worldbuilder: Plzen. Simply put, his work on Scramble for Space has been one of the best that I've seen, especially for 4x and PMT/FT RP in P2TM. The scramble for space cornered with three major superpowers, large array of technologies and resources in disposal, and deep mechanics with players (unfortunately was never fully explored due to its untimely death). Nevertheless, it is still a great RP. OOC and IC.

Best All-Around Player: Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States. He is a very versatile and all-around roleplayer, as he has involvements with both faction, nation, and character RPs. He is also quite literally willing to be involved in every genres. IC of Nation RP and IC of Character RP

Best OP/GMs: Beiarusia. Nightsiders shows his abilities as a competent OP and also great at managing the lore and the story. His insight and leadership has keep many RPs (both his and where he is co-op) proved well-earned on management of the RP in general.

Best CoOP: Anowa. His role as CO-OP, proved to be one of the best that I have ever seen. He is understandably ruthless to those who break the rules, or those who insisted on their ways even when it is not supposed to be their ways. He also very good at managing the story and the engagement of the stories, sometimes better than the OP himself/herself.

Most Involved in P2TM: G-Tech Corporation. His mentorship, leadership, and insights on RPs, players, P2TM in general as well as giving advices on the denizens here in P2TM and he is really a helpful kind. The fact that he is one of the old guards who still active after all these years made him such a great source of learning as well.

Most Improved Player:

Roleplay Games
IC and OOC Links Required!
BY GENRE
Action: Task Force Rainbow.
OOC and IC. This RP has the interesting premise of multinational black ops and at the same time, unsanctioned. Means we will get cut if we are caught. Engaging storyline and intense firefights.

Comedy:
Crime:
Fantasy:
Horror/Thriller:
Life-Based/Slice of Life:
Mystery:
P2TM Nation RP: Hearts of Darkness.
OOC and IC. An alt-history nation RP set on the late 19th century, one of the better RP that we've got in the 2017, and it holds the definition of alt-history and nations true. Definitely recommended.

Romance:
School-based: Academy of Villains
OOC and IC. The well-fleshed subplots of characters around the RP, the over-reaching goals of becoming villains and not being heroes for awhile, developed characters, and romances.

Science Fiction: The ATHENA Program.
OOC and IC. A futuristic military sci-fi take on the aliens, imagine X-COM but much more futuristic, with advanced equipment, and yet still losing against the aliens. The hardships, the battle, the missions, and the story, put together a developed and great RP.

War:

Misc Genre: We Are Young.
OOC and IC. A fresh take of superhero RP where we are more or less play as vigilantes, superheroes, or powered individual protecting a city (London) from various villainous groups. This time we are vigilantes unaccountable by the government nor adored by the public. The developed storyline, stronger enemies that cannot be taken down up front, and all-around cast of characters, made this RP a wonderful journey, short-lived RP.

OVERALL
Best Lore: Evil Genius. Deep storyline, multiple agencies and forces that may or may not have deeper morality then what they show, the setting of Cold War, and the chances of playing as the bad guys. Engaging storyline and lore.
Best RP Series: (Links Required!)
Most Creative or Original RP Idea: (Links Required!)
Best OOC Thread (Link Required)

RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE NOMINATIONS
Tell us why you're nominating the person or game, and why the judges should select the person or game to go up for vote. Sell it, baby! Don't forget to link to posts.

Roleplayers
Include links to person's work, if necessary, and reasons why you think they deserve an award.
Best Worldbuilder: Rupudska: Their work is always excellent, and I especially enjoyed the Vast and Empty Sky recently. It died a touch stillborn, but the universe that manifested out of that RP was class, and Rup deserves the nod for that.
Best All-Around Player: Holy Tedalonia: This one is a bit odd, but I honestly think Ted deserves recognition for how much he has improved since he first joined the site, and his phenomenal increase in ability. I would have slapped him in the most-improved slot, but that isn't a thing now, so up he goes for All-Around Player.
Best OP/GMs: Republic of the Cristo: Lad put together a RP I have been part of for literally years now, New Civilizations. His insight and leadership led it to becoming what it is today, and it is almost criminal he hasn't been recognized for it.
Best CoOP:
Most Involved in P2TM: Harbertia: Don't interact with him much personally, but oftentimes I wander by the Cafe or Restaurant to see if folks need help or provide input, and find that what I would say has already been addressed. That takes dedication, and his work in the community should be honored.

Roleplay Games
IC and OOC Links Required!
BY GENRE
Action:
Comedy:
Crime:
Fantasy:
Horror/Thriller:
Life-Based/Slice of Life:
Mystery:
P2TM Nation RP: New Civilizations, IC. I mentioned this in Cristo's nomination, but the best nation RP I have been in for ages- its sheer longevity since 2015 should tell you how good it is and how much people have invested in it over those years.
Romance:
School-based:
Science Fiction: The Vast and Empty Sky, IC. Rup's work here was great, and though the RP didn't live long due to reasons, the writing from Norv, James, and others was exemplary. It was a story I wish we had had more time to explore, dead before it could truly unfold the majestic potential it encapsulated.
War:
Misc Genre: Mars 2050: The Red Dawn, IC. Hard to really categorize it, so misc it do be, but Hark always puts out good work; his RP about the colonization of Mars in the future had aspects of science fiction, warfare, mystery, and character interactions that I found most interesting.

OVERALL
Best Lore: The Curse of Flesh. Deep worldbuilding about a very unique and mystical setting, one of both depravity and a dark fantasy about the very strange world of Dravarn. The RP never really went much of anywhere, but the sheer oddity and beautifully crafted nature of the RP deserves a mention.
Best RP Series: New Civilizations, again. Since Cristo made the first incarnation years ago, New Civilizations has been through three different incarnations and a half dozen RP period settings, all of which have led to a world both strangely familiarly and exotically different from our own. Across the series the sheer amount of plotting and creation that has gone into the series is most impressive to me.
Most Creative or Original RP Idea: (Links Required!)
Best OOC Thread (Link Required)

Hi,

I really have trouble linking as if I open up a lot of tabs I'm liable to have a broken screen reader (they're pretty craply-made pieces of software.) Is linkng mandatory? If so I might be able to do it via tg to the p2tm account

We'd prefer linking, especially if it involves an RP. It's good to look over the nominations so far. Someone else may have linked already.

Edit: I usually fill my nomination out using Google Docs. I peck away at it over time. I post it on NS once it's tidied up.

Clarifying:

We have two other P2TM denizens that require screen reading software. Forms are extremely difficult, especially for our Braille module user. It isn't, however, impossible. Though his explanation confuses me somewhat, the gist of it is that he uses software similar to Word to capture his writing. He pieces together links and text using verbal shortcuts. It takes more time than it would for those without full or partial vision, yes. Another command allows him to 'paste' what he's written into a post for publication. He works one tab at a time.

The problem is, for us, a lack of free time and spare assistants. Links help us because we can jump directly to the post to pull text for the judging panel. Without links, we inevitably pull the wrong text. It becomes an exercise of frustration on a grand scale - especially if there are a lot of link-less entries on a form.

Simple things, such as not linking a person's name using the nation code, aren't a problem. Finding a needle in a haystack ("look for the Avengers RP IC and OOC") isn't something Swith, our primary contest coder, has time for. Lest anyone think her heartless, she also doesn't have time to tell me what banners or text say when my color blindness limits me. "Cer. Doesn't your filter program thang display the alternate text?" (On NS, nobody has alternate text in place of images. Very annoying.)

I am planning on updating a few things on my ballot. Just to let everyone know. I'm going to have more time now so that I can.

I'd like to find worthy nominees for each category, but I also realize that that is probably a time-consuming process that I may not get done. Not if I would like them to be worthy nominees. But there are a few I will add to.

I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

Hey guys, per Swith that managed a text to me today, just wanted to let you all know that the contest is over. Swith and Cer have been without connection to log into NS (let alone anything else). Power, in general, has been spotty for them and unchanged in that aspect for the time being.

Apologies all round that 2017 Awards didn't turn out as planned and thank you all for those that participated and took the time to nominate players within the community, and especially to those players that have put their best RP skills to shine!

I'm not commenting on the judging process, but some of the nominations I put in are in the wrong place, and some others weren't put in.

I made a few nominations as well, albethey a few hours after the deadline. If those could be included, that would be much appreciated.

As for ties, I'll accept them, but they wouldn't necessarily sit well with me. I'm sure that the folks here would like finality rather than a participation trophy. We have enough default winners that the remainder shouldn't be too difficult. If it is, I can withdraw from the contest (both my nominations that I wrote and my own nominations) and do the judging myself.

For the record, the voting portion refers to the "Recognition of Excellence" section of the awards, where judging is less of a significant part in deciding the winner (or, in this case, not a part of it at all, since there are no more than three nominations for each category); the part where judging is vital is "The Writing Portion".

I suspect that part of the concern here is having enough voters, given the low participation during the nomination period.

So I've been thinking about how to get more participation next year. What if the contest eases up some and lets you nominate your own writing samples? I had some this year that I hoped would be noticed, and alas, they were not.

Also, maybe there can be regular updates or even bumps if need be to get attention in the forums.

Third, I wondered if a lot of people got turned off by some of the early consternation where there was more on the pages about banning a potential judge than making nominations. What I would propose is that anyone can be a judge who wants to be. Even if that player was banned from the hosting forum. They can be temporarily allowed back on to judge, and then put under the ban as needed after its all done.

Fourth - I never remember that I as a non-judge gets to vote in the community selection. Can we get rid of that and have everything judged by actual judges? Or if we do keep it, there needs to be regular announcements telling people that they are free to judge the whatever posts they are allowed to. And regular announcements can be suggestions too, like "I wonder how many community members who are not technically judges will still be chiming in today with their own community votes." Because right now I feel like this is assumed but not clearly communicated...

Anyway, take them or leave them. Just wondering if these ideas would help.

I think that they scrapped it due to so few entries. In other words, everyone nominated got tied and there is no official recognition.
