During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? Neutral, lean-NATO at times
If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: N/A
If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO?
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact?
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? Lean more towards the West due to their active anti-communist stance, however we did not like the West either.
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? The United States and NATO tried to get our country onboard, as we had a large enough population and army to be a valuable 'asset' in their eyes.

Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? The Americans sent a delegation which the Diarcesians thought is an attempt to gain support in materiel and financial resources. That failed miserably with almost nothing accomplished. Wochaystein has some Warsaw Pact sympathizers, though they advocate for their version of juche.

If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? Our Grand Emperor during the age of the Cold War, G.E. At that point it was too late to pick a side, and he didn't care much or the USA or USSR government systems very much so he just stayed out of it.

The Republic of China leaned towards NATO-led nations but politically stood in Non-Aligned Movement, as we favored trade deals and an arms deal with the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics until' the republic could stand against the Russians later on which led us to learn more towards the United States.

If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with N/A: None, but stick to the Non-Aligned Movement.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? Our government was and still is highly democratic and capitalist, and we officially and largely supported the West and NATO, but a significant minority of the population, as well as several private organizations and companies based in Exodia were officially neutral. Additionally, Exodia at the time was considered to be a nation that “straddled the line between the First and Third World”, owing to our history as a British colonial nation, free-market and democratic policies, abundant resources, and flourishing industry, but diplomatic and political policies still had to be recognized and poverty, crime, and other civil issues needed to be dealt with.
If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: N/A
If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? We were unofficially a member of NATO at the time of its formation due to our status in the British Commonwealth, but when we gained full independence in the mid-1960s, we didn’t renew our membership.
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? N/A
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? We definitely swayed to the side of the West and were favored by them as a vital buffer against Communist Cuba, as well as for our support for anti-communist foreign uprisings, but the increasingly-globalist and authoritarian environment in NATO always made us reconsider.
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? There was always a level of apprehension towards NATO itself as an organization due to their somewhat restrictive or conforming nature, but these fears only became prominent after internal political tensions with the United States reached their peak in 1975- after an alleged CIA operation led to the destruction of a private military corporation’s headquarters within our borders and a considerable amount of casualties, of both foreign employees and Exodian citizens.
But in the end, we always stayed loyal to the West as a whole and never accepted or gave in to the East’s false promises.

There was a small but loud group of Communists who protested our alliance, but given out close ties to both the US and Britain, there was no chance of us switching.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on?
    Merriwhether remained non-aligned.
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East?
No matter which side we chose to support, that would have placed our nation in the crosshairs of the existential threat of the nuclear arsenal of either the Soviet Union of the United States. That was not a risk we were willing to take, and so our position from incident to incident was based on the best judgment of our foreign affairs and diplomacy offices. We condemned the Communists in the Korean War, but the United States in the Vietnam War. We condemned the United States in its deployment of ICBM platforms in Turkey, but endorsed its blockade in the Cuban Missile Crisis. Our interest was to promote deescalation and lessen violence wherever possible.
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side?
Of course. The vast majority had wanted Merriwhether to declare its support for NATO. Merriwhether has never been a true Socialist state, and so many thought that if the Warsaw Pact overwhelmed NATO that they would sooner or later come after us. Only a handful on the far-Left wanted us to support the Warsaw Pact, but they also argued that it was our best shot at maintaining peace and sovereignty if the same thing were to happen, while a NATO triumph would not be as much of a threat. We never chose a side, but it was thankfully unnecessary. Our relations with Western countries have never been stellar, but despite our neutrality throughout the Cold War they're better in modern times than they have been throughout most of our history.

During the Cold War, which side was your nation predominantly on? We led a third major alliance*.
If you changed sides during the Cold War, please state who you were previously allied with: N/A
If you were on the side of the West, were you a member of NATO? No.
If you were on the side of the East, were you a member of the Warsaw Pact? No.
If you were neutral, did you lean more towards the West or the East? We leaned more towards the West in the early Cold War and more towards the East in the later Cold War.
Were there movements that attempted to sway your nation towards one side? Yes. Quite a lot of them.

*Our timeline's Cold War was tripolar, with a more centralized League of Nations essentially serving as a third power bloc. During the Cold War, the League of Nations contained America, Scandinavia, Austria, and most of the OTL Non-Aligned Movement. (The UK led NATO in our absence.)
