Thank you! Indeed, I do seem to fit a certain pattern one would see in this thread and on NS in general (exceptions confirm the rule) ...
Then again, I've seen quite a few folks in here who are definitely worse off than me. That might give some hope! This being said, keeping it calm and waiting for the right one, how long it ever may take for the right one to show up, seems like a fairly reasonable plan to me, doesn't it.
(I'm just in my mid-20s, by the way, so there's yet plenty of time.)

Try finding someone that you enjoy being around all the time. That is what makes a good partner. Been married for 20 years myself and it has been the best 20 years of my life. Romance is what you make it.

Try finding someone that you enjoy being around all the time. That is what makes a good partner. Been married for 20 years myself and it has been the best 20 years of my life. Romance is what you make it.

But that involves going out and doing things, and finding someone who's actually interested in spending time with me and who also finds me attractive, and then I have to initiate because I'm a guy whose into ladies and because of stupid and arbitrary gender roles I have to be the one who initiates almost everything (Because I am not attractive enough to get women to initiate things), plus I have to make money and have stable transportation for dates and presents (Hint: I have neither of those things), while also putting on my best self at all times. Then we get into committed relationships and divorce rates and penalties, or marriages that devolve into dead bedrooms, etc...

Yeah, no, too much work and risk for too little a reward and too high a barrier of entry when it comes to socializing and social skills, it ain't gonna happen even if I wanted it to. But I've accepted and am ok with that.

This is depressing but basically the same here, it's easier to accept it and move on with other goals than to try in vain. If one comes along, nice.

Yeah, it's some sort of a two-edged sword ... on the one hand, yes, it's way easier to accept it, to shrug it off and call it a day (pretty much like, "If one comes along, nice, if not, well, then I'd say, not. Who's up for ice-cream?") than to try it come hell or high water and ultimately end up being as alone as before because Lillo the Brain messed it up again. On the other hand, I also think, that the 20s are a fairly young age to give up on that matter entirely - hope dies last, after all.
