I really wouldn't mind putting creation in our textbooks...but the fact that people see this as a step to teaching that the Earth is flat is absolutely ridiculous and annoying, in my opinion.

Nobody said that Texas must be promoting creationism in every textbook. Americans had this same discussion some sixty years ago, when evolution was first placed in some state curriculums. It wasn't promoted, merely taught as another popular theory.

Because teaching something that fails to meet requirements for a hypothesis alongside one of best established scientific theory is stupid and unjustifiable.

It's not breaking it. The church had nothing to do with it. The state decided that it might be nice for once if people knew something more than "We evolved from monkeys" (and I KNOW we didn't evolve from monkeys, but that's sarcasm for you.)

Creationism has no valid evidence. It's pointless and time consuming to teach all these different theories when the correct one is right in front of us.

As a Texas teacher and a staunch conservative, this is wrong. Schools receive federal funding, therefore there has to be separation of church and state. This is against the US Constitution.
