Not really. Says they're including "spiritual" people (who believe in God, but are not "religious", whatever that means). So, unfortunately no. This doesn't tell us much about the rise of atheism, only the decline of mainstream Protestantism.

Capitalism is always the answer. Whenever there's a problem in capitalism, you just need some more capitalism. If the solution isn't capitalism, then it's not really a problem. If your capitalism gets damaged, you just need to throw some capitalism on it and get on with your life.

But that just means atheists becomes the new Protestants, right?

I do not care about religion nor Canadian news.

I couldn't care less if Protestantism was no longer a majority religion. Why do statistics on the number of religious people need to kept anyways? It's rather useless.

I don't think Capitalism in itself can "collapse". America and the status quo certainly can though.

Doubt it. More likely is that the Republican Party will slowly abandon their religious fanatical approach to politics to try and attract a greater following from a growing percentage of athiest youth. I doubt the Democrats will ever become right wing.

I am more concerned with the rise of Ultra Reactionary Evangelical Church's rather than the fall in Protestantism. Most mainline Proddy church's (read sane) have lost members to the General Synod of Snake Handlin' Bible Bilivin' Preaching Shack.

Has it occurred to you that perhaps the General Synod of Snake Handlin' Bible Bilivin' Preaching Shack is offering the congregants something the "mainline Proddy church's churches (read sane)" no longer do?

Anyway, while this doesn't really affect my life in any way, I wonder what it will mean for the American political scene. Will the Bible belt be getting less attention as a result? I certainly can't say anything for a fact, but I have a feeling that this will definitely cause the GOP and religious figures to start to sweat, what with their primary support base shrinking. But what do you think NSG?
