Thanks. If there were a high-fiving smiley, I'd use it.

Yes, that would be the one I'm referencing. Not just the Romans, but all cultures with a holiday for the solstice. Even if it was a bullshit move, it's a pretty brilliant move on their part.

Militant atheists fail to make that distinction, when it comes to religious issues.
This is the only thing I will comment on from what you said, because I really couldn't be bothered to read everything at this hour. What he said is blatantly wrong. It is, in fact, joking. Joking is a form of comedy. If it was intended as a joke, it was a joke.

Religion is based on Faith. Soviet Canuckistan is pointing that out, by requiring atheists to show proof. How does that make him a hypocrite?
Because I asked him to show proof of his claims which he refused to do so, then he turns around and demands proof of someone else.
So I called him a hypocrite.

The original commandment, in the original writings, said: thou shalt not murder. It was later mistranslated as "thou shalt not kill". The translators, they have the capability to make errors, you know that, right?
I never said "Thou shalt not kill" was the right translation.Shofercia wrote:Religion is based on Faith. Soviet Canuckistan is pointing that out, by requiring atheists to show proof. How does that make him a hypocrite?
You can't prove God. You can't disprove God. Religion is Faith based. Math is number based. History is story based. You don't demand Integral Calculus to be used by Civil War Scholars in filming documentaries, do you? Then why demand that something that's Faith based, be factually proven?
Because everything must be supported by evidence. If someone tells you that your significant other is cheating on you, you demand proof. What if your friend says, "Nah, you just gotta have faith, that's what friends are for!" Or how about if you tell someone that water is H20 and they tell you that that's not how they think about water. Or how about a homicidal maniac who has hallucinations? You gonna let him roam free because it's his faith? Religion doesn't get a "get out of jail free" card for skepticism. Stop covering up the fact you have no evidence.
Andropoland wrote:Norstal wrote:When it's about god, you need to prove that he doesn't exist.
When it comes to leprechauns, I don't need to prove that they don't exist.
I always bring that up when religion issues arise. A man who believes ghosts or zombies exist is called crazy. A person who believes that their is a being (or non-being) in the heavens who created the universe and influences everything we do are called Theists.
Why not crazy?
