So, with hard drive failures and moving back to uni this weekend, the deadline will be pushed back a week, giving you all until
MIDDAY (GMT) ON SATURDAY THE 14TH OF JANUARY
to post your results

this will also be the last championship under the banner of Barsteeg whose IC owner has left the game. if nobody else objects, my own company Seasogs will be taking over the sponsorship, being a humourously stereotyped strong liquor of some sort. we think vodka, but it could equally be brandy, we're not sure.
if other bids are submitted for the sponsorship i'll ask a neutral party to draw teams from a hat

Thomas AutomotiveTM Rugby Union League
Season 1

The first season of the Camwood Contact Football Federation Rugby Union League is up on us and for the first time professional rugby will be played in Camwood. The Camwood Contact Football Federation (often spoken as "double c, double f) is a federation in which governs Camian Gridiron (American Football), Northern Football (Canadian Football), Rugby Union and Rugby League. Each of the four sports has it's own league which is either named after a sponsor, donor, or simply "national" or "Camian".

Eight Teams will play out in a quadruple round robin season followed by a four team knockout stage.

The Teams

Compolis RFC: A largely finese team. The RFC lacks size.
Port Kostas Bruisers: Their Backs have big boots and their forwards leave big bruises (hence the name)
Speedy Vanler: The Home of the quickest backs in Camwood.
New Athens Spartans: Good kicking, and scrum efficentcy define New Athens' Play.
White Rock Grizzlies: Big Narly Players can make you think twice before entering a scrum.
RFC Clemson: The kicking game is what makes Clemson great.
Petmonton Lions: The Lions are far from the best team in the league. Their one strong hold is forwards.
Nattas: Nattas' kicking game is more then superb.

Sponsorship Change:
As noted in my previous post in this thread, with Cotdelapoms retiring from the game, sponsorship of the tournament was going to move from Barsteeg to a company that I offered up, Seasogs. No objections were raised, so Seasogs will be the sponsor of the Rugby Union Champion's Trophy (RUCT) for the next four seasons. Sponsorship will then be open to submission for the next four seasons after that.

Entry:
Because I'm feeling nice, teams from Tymason were accepted. Teams from Swalenia were not, as the league was stated as not completed.

A few notes on procedure:
With an unprecedented 54 teams submitted including those from 6 nations making their debut in the tournament, a preliminary round was required as well as a qualification round. The bottom two teams from debut nations were entered into the Preliminary Round, the winners joining the remaining teams from nations that hadn't previously submitted teams in the Qualification Round, along with the bottom 11 teams from nations already established in the tournament. The only exception being that teams from nation previously submitting that won their national league were guaranteed a spot in the group draw, league winning teams from debut nations are not granted this. The winners of this round went forth into the group draw. Teams were seeded by rank, and then drawn, with no two teams from the same association permitted in the same group.

The draw for the Round of Sixteen was drawn randomly so every runner-up played a group winner, with no two teams from the same association permitted to play each other. The remaining rounds were drawn randomly.

Tymason Rugby Union League

Performance in Barsteeg Championship

Byn Laye Town

Under their captain,Henry Logue, the team got off on the right foot, getting enough points to make it into the prelims of the championship. However,an injury to their kicker,Barston Lowe, meant that each of their try conversions went astray against Anging RFC.A short stay by the team ranked "Biggest Underdogs" in their domestic season.

Deron Highway

Deron Highway started off their campaign on a high note, winning 2 straight games to progress into the group stage. The second game,in particular, was a complete trashing of Northern Cape.Their group stage campaign, however, was an utter failure.Only recording two tries, both by Tyson James, and a win saw them plummet to last position in the group stage, although they sneaked a win past league leaders Kulverint Schkots 7-3.

Leville United

They started off well in the qualifying round, getting a win over Elmoria Tigers. However, just like Deron, that was as good as it went for them.A one point thriller against The Grand Old Party was the only bright spot in their group stage, recording only three tries. They were not to blame, however,as top scorer Lee Toruka broke a kneecap after a heavy tackle in the win.

Werigal RFC

You would have expected more from the league winners, but they were just overpowered by the Paritzburg Vipers, though the Vipers did progress into the round of 16.Still,a terrible effort from the highest ranked team in the country.

League Season.

This report covers the season until the halfway point.

Strugglers Gerhag Town voluntarily stepped down from the top division into the newly formed Second division after running short on funding.A 30 man squad from amateur players was gathered to replace them, hence their name: 30 Man Squad.

In Group 1,Worker's Union,a team formed out of mine workers, raced into an early lead, with the 30 Man Squad following close behind. However,Leville City wanted in,and took second away from them.Leville United,runners-up last season, were struggling with Lee Toruka still injured.

In Group 2,Byn Laye Town proved that the previous season was no fluke and raced ahead with 4 wins and a draw.Sharing that record was Werigal RFC,but Byn Laye stormed ahead on points after several runaway wins, the biggest being a 36-7 trashing of Xavier Sports,a team put in by Sports clothing manufacturer,Xavier.Montrois RFC,entered by the President of TyMason, lost every single match they played.

Table:

Group 1

1:Worker's Union-10
2:Leville City-10
3:Abendor-9
4:Leville United-7
5:30 Man Squad-6
6:Youkil Rugby Division-1

Tymason Rugby Union League

Second Division and League Format Changes.

This year sees an expansion to the league as it heads into the second season.A six team championship has been formed, with the winner moving in.This year's league format also sees a change. The top 2 from each group will take place in a playoff series for the Cup.3rd and 4th place from each group will go for a smaller championship, the TMB Trophy. The teams in last in each group will square off to see which team gets relegated.

Here are the results for the second division:

1:Certano Cats-20-Promoted
2:Rendal-19
3:Lamson Tigers-18
4:Simis RFC-16
5:Gerhag Town-13
6:Werigal Wasps-1

Permier Division

Matchday 6 Results:

Group 1
Youkil Rugby Division 22–16 Leville United
Worker's Union 13–26 30 Man Squad
Leville City 32–14 Abendor

The 30 Man Squad pulled out an impressive victory over the rough playing Worker's Union. This allows Leville City to stretch their lead. Another upset came from Youkil Rugby Division, who scored their first win of the season against Leville United.

Group 2
Xavier Sports 22–28 Montrois RFC
Rittir Cap 14–36 Werigal RFC
Deron Highway 16–22 Byn Laye Town

Montrois get their first win over Xavier Sports, though they left their winning try quite late.Byn Laye also squeak past Deron Highway by the virtue of Tammon Law making a diving tackle that force Deron Highway out of bounds before they were able to score a try in the dying seconds.

Matchday 7

Group 1
Leville City 24–25 Youkil Rugby Division
Abendor 15–31 Worker's Union
30 Man Squad 13–25 Leville United

Youkil once again upsetted a side from Leville, this time with one of the best drop goals in Tymason's short rugby history.Pin Unis was dashing down the right hand flank with a few seconds left.An onrush of Leville defenders came to push him out of bounds.30 yards out and about to fall over,Unis managed to heave the ball towards the goal. After a clang of the post, the ball dropped in to record a miracoulus victory.

Group 2
Deron Highway 17–29 Xavier Sports
Byn Laye Town 32–12 Rittir Cap
Werigal RFC 26–18 Montrois RFC

Byn Laye Town and Werigal RFC showed why they are undefeated with textbook performances against Montrois and Rittir Cap.Xavier Sports also beat Deron Highway in another upset.

Matchday 8

Group 1
Youkil Rugby Division 19–21 30 Man Squad
Leville United 18–20 Abendor
Worker's Union 18–23 Leville City

Loads of close shaves in these fixtures.Youkil's miracle run comes to an end against 30 Man Squad by 2 points.Abendor surprisiingly got the better of Leville United and the battle between the top 2 left Leville City on top

Group 2
Xavier Sports 17–33 Werigal RFC
Montrois RFC 5–39 Byn Laye Town
Rittir Cap 13–29 Deron Highway

I do not think Group 2 needs to play more games apart of trying to avoid relegation.Byn Laye Town and Werigal RFC officially seal their place in the Seasogs championship with dominating wins, with Byn Laye providing the record win of the season.

Matchday 9

Group 1
Worker's Union 29–14 Youkil Rugby Division
Leville City 16–30 Leville United
Abendor 25–9 30 Man Squad

Things are heating up.After the Leville derby,Leville United are still within a shot of making it to the Seasogs championship.Abendor are following one point behind Worker's Union and Leville city.Youkil Rugby Division has already been condemned to the relegation playoff.

Group 2
Rittir Cap 19–25 Xavier Sports
Deron Highway 22–14 Montrois RFC
Byn Laye Town 30–24 Werigal RFC

Byn Laye are now the only undefeated team in the league, salvaging a win against second place Werigal.Deron Highway and Xavier Sports are already in line to compete in the TMB Trophy.

Matchday 10

Group 1
Youkil Rugby Division 29–13 Abendor
30 Man Squad 12–32 Leville City
Leville United 28–10 Worker's Union

1 point.Had Leville United top scorer Lee Toruka converted that penalty, they would have been in the Seasogs championship.Instead, they have to fight for the TMB Trophy.Abendor got humiliated by Youkil Rugby division, who wanted to go out on a high. And Leville City bag a cool 300,000 Arlas(TyMason's currency) for topping the group after beating the 30 Man Squad.

Group 2
Xavier Sports 18–20 Byn Laye Town
Werigal RFC 25–17 Deron Highway
Montrois RFC 33–11 Rittir Cap

The main focus in this matchday was relegation.Montrois RFC was about to face Rittir Cap,their relegation rivals. And Montrois definetely did not want to play for survival in the top league,so they tore up Rittir cap by a comfortable margin.Another notable result was Byn Laye's win over Xavier Sports which sealed their undefeated league season.

League ResultsBlue means Seasogs Championship qualifiers and Championship Trophy contesters.
Red means TMB Trophy Participants.

Group 1
1.Leville City-19 points
2.Worker's Union-16 points(+31 PD)
3.Leville United-16 points(+30 PD)
4.Abendor-15 points
5.30 Man Squad-12 points
6.Youkil Rugby Division-10 points

Group 2
1.Byn Laye Town-28 points
2.Werigal RFC-25 points
3.Deron Highway-15 points
4.Xavier Sports-10 points
5.Montrois RFC-6 points
6.Rittir Cap-4 points

The nation of Aels has a three-tier professional rugby union system, made up of 18 teams. There are six Aelsh teams in each tier, although only tiers two and three — the ARU ChocoMilk Premier League and the ARU First League — are fully sanctioned by the Aels Rugby Union. The top flight, which also features four teams from Ancharmunn, is jointly sanctioned by the Ancharmunn and Aels Rugby Unions.

The top two teams in the Premier League are promoted to the Tynealan joint league, while the bottom team is relegated to the First League. Four points are awarded for a win and two for a draw, with no bonus points awarded. Teams play each other four times and ties are broken by head-to-head results, followed by win percentage (draws count half), and points difference.

Results from the 1090 season (Tynealan calendar):

1090 Tynealan Unification League

The Tynealan Unification League is the top level of rugby union competition in the Celtic Union of Tyneala (ie: Aels and Ancharmunn). As the only four professional rugby union clubs in Ancharmunn the provincial sides of Dyary, Machairster and Slievester along with the side representing the capital city Ballyfeeaknock will remain constants in the league. The two lowest placed Aelsh sides however are relegated to the Aelsh Rugby Union Premier League. At the top end of the table the top three clubs qualify for the championship playoffs, with the first placed team qualifying directly for the final and having home advantage for that match. The second placed team hosts the third placed team in the semi-final with the winner progressing to the final.

The Playoff Stages

Round 1

Championship Playoffs
Leville City 8-28 Werigal RFC
Byn Laye Town 28-17 Worker's Union

These results were almost no suprise.Byn Laye, coming off an unbeaten run in the group stages, went on to beat Worker's Union, even with a little bit of difficulty.However.Werigal's match against Leville City was a curb-stomper,with Leville producing a try with a missed conversion and a penalty for their efforts.

TMB Trophy
Deron Highway 0-40 Abendor
Xavier Sports 13-23 Leville United

Sure,Leville did beat Xavier Sports to take victory, but the real highlight of the day was Abendor's six tries with out reply at Deron.Everybody, including Deron fans, were cheering on Alvin Maruna as he scored three tries. This was just enough to get Maruna a ticket with the rest of the TyMason national team to Darmen for the Rugby World Cup.

Round 2

Championship Final
Byn Laye Town 20-14 Werigal RFC

Byn Laye scored two tries and two penalties early on,but still this was not enough to prevent Werigal from trying hard. They also scored 2 tries, but failed to convert their 1 penalty kick, giving Byn Laye Town the championship in an undefeated season.

TMB Trophy
Abendor 20-16 Leville United

Abendor continued off their curb-stomp win over Deron by squeezing past favourites Leville United in a very close fought game. The winning try was scored by Alvin Maruna, just a day before his trip to Darmen for the Rugby World Cup.

Relegation Battle

Youkil Rugby Division 33-19 Rittir Cap

Both teams scored high when compared to each of their performances throughout the main season. But in the end Rittir Cap had to go down after a crushing loss against Youkil. The Certano Cats will take their place in the main division

Qualifiers for Seasogs Championship

As per this post ( http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?p=8124885#p8124885 ) the qualifiers for the seasogs championship from the Rugbytahne Esportiva are:

Chuuk Rugby Legends - Nakatumo Isle
RFC Ares - Ares-y-Penthesilea
New Amzterdam Warriors - Cyborg Holland (if not entered through his own league)

Also, Cyprardeos is a country that finished in the qualifying spot. Their owner wants to enter them as rugby is a minority sport to them. If they are allowed to enter then they will.

The Cyprardean National Rugby team, well, their level of play is that of a club, and rugby is such an unknown sport, that the team would like to be entered, as they will not play in any World Cup or other international Competitions.
