Starters
Point Guard: Alex Mack, #5. He is a 26 year old who plays in the Silver Beach Professional Basketball League(the SBPBL) and who is a star player for his team. A distributor, he is a 6'2, 188 lb, Afro-Silverian point guard, who is known for his speed. His weakness however, is defense, where he is seen as the weak link defensively for the normally strong side for Silverian basketball. Expect him to get lots of assists, the only time he really shoots the ball are on breakaways and three point shots.

Shooting Guard: George Baileys, #1. This is the 28 year old star player for the Silverian basketball team. Also playing in the SBPBL, he is a guard who is 6'5, 213 lbs, and Afro-Silverian. He can shoot the ball, dribble, drive, pass, etc... He is known as the all-around player for the team. He is also the captain of the basketball team, and he hopes to do his team proud. Also a graduate of the University of St.John's Island, which is a school now known for gridiron football, though he led his team to a national title when he played there 7 years ago in his senior season.

Small Forward: Justin Amakers, #23. This is a tall, veteran player with a large wingspan for the national basketball squad. A player who plays professionally in the SBPBL, he is known for his long wingspan, unnaturally long at 7'4. Justin Amakers is the star defender for the squad, always put on the other teams star player. He is 6'7, 230 lbs, and a caucasian/Afro-Silverian mix, and also 33 years old. He is the shutdown defender for the team, though is a major weak link offensively. However on offense, he is known for his hustle to the basketball on loose ball plays, and hustle to get long rebounds after long shots.

Power Forward: Harold Arnold, #43. This is the tall power forward for Silver Beach. The youngest player on the team at age 21, he is a rookie in the SBPBL, and he is known as a man who has lots of potential, but who just has not reached it yet. He is a tall caucausian at 6'11, though not reached a preferable weight, only coming in at 217 lbs, and he says he wants to work out to put more muscle on him. Not very strong in the paint, he is tall, and quick for a big man. He has a killer post up fadeaway jumper, and can hit the midrange shot, though definitely not three pointers.

Center: Jacob Arkins, #52. This is a tall, large center for the Basketball team, and his is seen as a team leader. At age 31, he has peaked, and is at the end of his prime. About to start his 10th season in the SBPBL, he is excited to do his country proud internationally. A "hick" from Harley Falls in rural Silver Beach, where nobody outside there had heard of him until a region-wide basketball tournament of state champions, the 7'1, 268 lb caucausian is ready to play for his country, and his pride. He gets lots of rebounds, and his chief strength is his rebounding, as he is known as somebody who hustles a lot.

Bench
#3 Benjamin Robin, Point Guard. 5'11, 178 lbs, Afro-Silverian
#11 Frederick Franklin, Shooting Guard. 6'2, 197 lbs, Caucausian.
#21 Evan Turner, Small Forward. 6'5, 214 lbs, Asian-Silverian.
#30 Grant McFinley, Power Forward. 6'9, 244 lbs, Caucausian. Born in Khytenna, Dual-citizen, plays for Silver Beach
#44 Travis Wong, Center. 6'11, 263 lbs, Asian-Silverian.
#25 Isaac Boston, Point Guard/Shooting Guard. 6'3, 196 lbs, Afro-Silverian.
#17 Ryan Barry, Small Forward/Shooting Guard/Power Forward(small lineup for PF). 6'7, 237 lbs, Afro-Silverian.
#2 Terry Beeters, Center/Power Forward. 6'10, 244 lbs, Afro-Silverian.

Head Coach: Travis Blazers is the head coach. He likes to play zone defenses, though in tight games in the 4th quarter, he will use a box and 1 against a team with a star player, with Amakers as the lone defender. He uses the dribble drive offense with his team, to let his guards drive and make sure his players shoot the ball, either with mid-range jumpers or three point shots.
Assistants: Ryan Borrows, Albert York.

The basketball culture in Cotdelapoms is an interesting one. The sport is one of the most popular participation sports for both adults and children, especially in the south. Basketball courts are everywhere in the major cities and there are no lack of basketball gyms all over. Regardless, it still lags way behind ice hockey, football, rugby union, baseball and curling as a spectator sport- Cotdelapoms' professional basketball league, the CBA/ABC depending on language, has a limited television contract and average attendance at games around 4,000. The Betavalanche.kpz National Championship in Kagdazka & Pazhujebu is actually the most popular basketball competition in Cotdelapoms, but their television ratings are not much better.

BasketCotdelapoms is going into their second International Basketball Championship, having finished with a respectable 4-4 record in the 8th version of this competition. The team is fast and athletic and features some sharpshooters from 3 point land, but will almost certainly get pushed around by the bigger teams. The team eschews a traditional centre to play with three guards, and the two forwards' mostly concern themselves with positioning for rebounds, knowing they won't be gaining many with their height.

Starting Five:
G- Noah Matthews
G- Benoît Landry
G- Lucas Turner
F- Gilles Veillet
F- Hassan Vallejo

Landry and Turner are both good three point shooters, Landry is a little more willing to go to the basket. Noah Matthews is a classic point guard.

Bench:
G- William Griffiths
G- Walid Beauvais
G- Xavier St-Jean
G- Colin Sterling
F- Jean Bassong
F- Younes Senna
F- Andrew Walker
C- Óskar Daigle

Qazox finished 2nd place at the last IBC to Sarzonia of all teams.

But Qazox will once again try to win a basketball title. Here's the unfortunate souls picked to try:

Team nickname: The Raving Idiots
Style: as offensive as possible
RP Permissions: Do what ever you want, except injuries. If you do post before me, please give my starters the majority of the points please.

Coach: Frank "The homeless one-armed bum that lived in the dumpster behind the Pika City Burrito King" Johnson- Once fought an imanginary Muhammad Ali for a sandwich and stabbed Ali in the face with a beer bottle. Turns out it was a police officer, not Muhammad Ali; and it wasn't a sandwich, but a rabid weasel and it wasn't a beer bottle, but his fake arm.

STARTERS
PG #14- Reggie Mata (6'0" 201): Once successfully dribbled the ball twice in a row without losing control!
SG #18- David Palmer (5' 11" 187): Once hit the rim on a 9-ft hoop. Can hit the backboard from within 5 feet!
PF #22- Roger Malden (6'4" 214): Once accidently touched a basketball and he didn't get freaked out by it!
SF #23- Mike Jordan (6'6" 235): Once met his namesake Michael Jordan at an autograph session at the local Ramada Inn!
C #33- Ian Dean (7'3" 267): Once he tried playing basketball, found out that despite his height, he sucked!

Bench:
PG #11- Regina Heinz (5'2" 114): She once beat her brother in a game of one-on-one. Her brother is a quadriplegic.
SG #10- Saul Horowitz (5'4" 148): Once led his Hebrew School team to a school record in points in their closest loss ever. They lost 196-5 to the Qazox school for the Blind.
PF #20- Yami Hino (5'9" 457): He's a sumo wrestler that likes basketball and wears his mawashi during games. Run that through your minds. Here's the brain bleach.
SF #28- Greg Manche (6'5" 301) Once he scored 5 points in a game. Granted it was on a 6 foot hoop and he was 7 years old at the time, but still.
C #39- Ivan Dean (7'3" 266) Ian Dean's twin brother. He's even worse than Ian.

Brand-New Fyreballz Squad

After embarrassing performances in the IBCs a while back, the Fyreballz have finally formed a team that qualified for the championships. The young team barely advanced out of their regional qualifier, and thus have little chance for much achievement in these championships. But they can hope?

PG - Lorraine Hamilton - Lorraine is a young woman who plays womens college basketball overseas. She plays point for the men's team due to her small stature, 5'9. She is good at dealing the ball out, but has weak shooting skills. She stars for the women's team and this is her first major experience on the men's squad.
SG - Madhava Bala - Madhava is a great young player, who recently graduated from University of Spitfyred - Central. He is a high-scoring guard with nice jumping skills. He is popular in Spitfyred1 due to his high-price sponsorships. This is his chance to find an spot for the next year on a pro-squad.
SF - Masamba Sefu - Masamba is a rather small forward at only 6'5, but he plays with heart, out muscling stronger players. He is a born athlete, and has huge muscles. His power is his key trait.
PF - Kofi Berko - Kofi Berko is a veteran Fyreballz player, having played for 4 years on the team. He is a bug man at 7'3, but he has nice touch and can shoot well, he is the big man threat off the Fyreballz.
C - Ilan Niek - Ilan is a rather small center at 6'10 and really will struggle against bigger opponents. He has nice weight, but still has issues boxing out. He can help the team out with offensive rebounds, but is a tiny scoring threat. He is surprising good at taking charges and making the FTs.

Big Man - Chad Teddy - Chad is a university junior hoping to beat Ilan our for play time. He is good height at 7'1, but needs to bulk up. The trick for Chad will be scoring a lot and playing good defense. Many think he may start later in the championships.
Smaller Man - Piripi Bala Piripi is Madhava's younger brother and a highly-prized recruit for college. Only eighteen, he is one of if not the youngest player in the championships. He is 6'6 and can play PG, SG, and SF. He is a nice scorer, but needs to improve his defensive.

-3
The team is really weak and depends on Kofi Berko and Madhava Bala for scoring. The team centers on nice passing, and tight defense will trip them up. A huge C will destroy Niek, and the team will most likely lose. The team will struggle to reach .500.

Yesopalithan Sports News

After the explosion of Mount Calroan on our beloved island, all efforts are being put into humanitarian efforts to help those that have lost everything. Madame Nirdasil will return from the Beastling States of Crystal Spires soon after helping out at the War with Shrilland, but in spite of all this, life goes on, and the Flame will make their first ever appearance at an international competition by participating in the International Basketball Championships IX.

The Yesopalithan team is loaded with young talent, and are coached by Scott Scandricks, who is known throughout our island as a genius mind. The team has Isaac Redman, Jr., as the PG, who will dish out plenty of assists. The burden of scoring will fall to the forwards, Ethan Newman and Ryan Thompson. The team as a whole plays solid defense.

However, Coach Scandricks says that the main goal of this tournament is not to win it all, but to show that Yesopalitha is a respectful country. "It'll be all for nought if the other teams don't think we show good sportsmanship," commented the Coach.

So the Flame will go, and see what they can do.

Our group is:

Camwood International Roster

Postby Camwood » Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:49 pm

Camwood Blue Jays

This is Camwood's first appearance in the IBC. Camwood entered the Olympics with no experience as an international squad and did very poorly. Camian players focus on finese and fundementals. Coach Joe Barthew from the Compolis Nets has implemented a three forward, two guard scheme. His two starting guards run a 40 yard dash in less then 4.6 seconds, and both shooting guards have a three point shot percentage of over .650. Camian Basketball is entirely ameuter, and the domestic league, The CBA, is made up of 6 teams.

Info
Mascot: Blue Jays
Trigamme: CAM
Experience: Olympiad
Titles: None
Style Modifier: +1

Starters
02 PG JEFFERY Arwood (5'11'', 178 lbs) Port Kostas Naviators, Jeff Arwood isn't the biggest guard ever but he is adequete for playing defense and stoping fast breaks. Considering his height he is superb at lay-ups, jump shots, and back-door cuts.
07 SG RAYMOND Wacker (6'0'', 188 lbs) Compolis Nets, Wacker can sink three pointers like nobody's buisness. Wacker is great with man coverage, but is also efficent in zone coverage.
05 SF DANIEL Sanborn (6'3'', 199 lbs) Vanler Mountaineers, "Danny the Dude" is skinney guys for his height. He is a great rebounder and superb in pick-and-roll plays.
08 PF BENJAMIN Haddock (6'6'', 214 lbs) Clemson Executives, Haddock puts "power" in "power forward". The only way to stop him is to take a charge, and after you do that you most likely have a couple broken bones. Dunking and Rebounding are his primary skills.
14 C RICHARD Duvall (6'9'', 218 lbs) White Rock Bears, If you think Duvall's tall, well he's twice as finesed, as he is tall. For a big guy, his jukes in tight spaces, and dribling control are great.

Bench
01 G PHILLIP Ybarra, Petmonton Hawks
12 G MICHAEL Lombardo, Compolis Nets
08 F ALBERT Tarr, Port Kostas Naviators
03 F LUIS Main, White Rock Bears
16 C JAMES Kibler, Vanler Mountaineers

Western Cuba National Basketball Roster

Basketball in Western Cuba:
Basketball has long been played by the islanders of Western Cuba, but has never caught on as a major sport. Just as a recreation sport. No major league is sported in Western Cuba, and a new national team has been recently formed. Due to the death of their former coach, half of the roster killed during the Britannian Invasion of Western Cuba, and the rest retiring. It's been a while since the National Team has competed and Western Cuba itself has been involved in a major form of basketball but there are high expectations. At least for the television ratings.

Staff:
Head Coach: Rafael Mendoza, Mendoza has lead the Trinidad University Dolphins as the head coach for the last several years. Winning them a National Championship last spring. Will he bring his success to the national team, or will he fail?

Assistant Coach: William Gonzalez, Gonzalez was the former head coach of Segovia State University but resigned last year due to health problems. William has appeared to recover and is trying to get involved in his basketball career once more. He was a leading candidate for the Head Coaching job but when Rafael Mendoza secured the job he was offered a role as Assistant Coach, which he gladly accepted.

Starters:
PG #12, Alberto Vargas
SG #14, Nesto Ruiz
SF #6, Pablo Lopez
PF #8, Dante Medina
C #1, Paco Pena

Reserves:
PG #25, Montenegro Soto
SG #4, Franco Castro

95X IBC IX Roster

95X International Basketball Championship IX Roster
Pos. # Name Age Height
PF 10 Mike Portland 22 6'10"
SF 12 Tanya Schiller* 21 6'3"
C 00 Kevin Macadam 20 7'5"

Head Coach: Mike Mallon
95X Returns only two players from IBC XIII—Kali Cate (who became the first female player in the 95X Basketball Association when she agreed to play for the Cascadia Grizzlies, the league's most successful team to boot) and Jody Graven, who are starting guards this time around. 95X has quite a bit less height than IBC XIII, but this lineup is considered more talented and much more laid back and loose.

Home Court
Located in Cascadia, 95X
Cascade Dome
Seating capacity: 47,500
The cavernous Cascade Dome is home to the 95X Basketball Association (9BA) Cascadia Grizzlies, the league's most successful team. Basketball is a well-followed sport in 95X, and partially due to the success of the local team, is the most-followed sport in the City of Cascadia.

RP Permissions
The dreadedly (un)creative 'anything except injure/kill/eject.' Several men who were on 95X's IBC XIII team weren't selected for this one due to being hotheads. The women on the team especially are very unlikely to complain about the refs, being sent to the deck, getting checked by a male player twice her size, etc. If someone's being unsportspersonlike, that's a different issue entirely. Overall, even if 95X is creamed 100-25 they're most likely to shake hands with the opposition and call it a night than anything else.

Edited to use the correct Roman Numeral when describing the previous IBC; add name of Head Coach and home arena information (duh, it helps to read the host bid to determine if any of your games will occur in your nation).

Qazox has a rather easy path to the playoffs, on paper at least. They have the lowest #2 seed (Cosumar), still rather new taeshan and Spitfryed1 sqauds and 3 newcomers. But as we all know, games aren't played on paper, except tic-tac-toe! I have no idea where they found this team, but I don't think this team will contend for a title. Based on some of the practices I've seen, I think this team will be luckly to score 80 points. In the whole tourney, not just a game. Prediction: 0-12::79 PF::1279 PA::-1200 PtD.

Silver Beach prepares for the 9th International Basketball Championship Tourney

The Silver Beach basketball team had its last practice last night before their home opener against the Andromeda Islands, ranked 35th in the world, 14 spots higher than Silver Beach in basketball, tips off tomorrow. They will have a walkthrough, then start the period of trying to qualify for the tournament proper, where another Silverian team can go into Mytannion and try to get a victory. The Kingdom of Silver Beach is prepared to play in a very tough group, though it could be worse. They have #15 Carastoga, #5 Valladres, #35 the Andromeda Islands, who they open against tomorrow night, and they have 3 unranked teams in their groups. Silver Beach has quite the climb to make, as it has to beat 3 teams ranked significantly higher than them on a consistent basis to even think about qualification.

Silver Beach has leaders on its squad, and veterans. A key player throughout this entire tournament will be Justin Amakers. Amakers is the best defender on the Silver Beach national basketball team, and he will be charged with defending the other team's best player. As Silver Beach tends to play a lot of close games, look for Amakers to get plenty of rest before the last 8 or 9 minutes of the 4th quarter, and then have him energized for that final stretch. He is aging at 33 years old, but he still has speed in his first step, even if it is not quite what it once was.

Silver Beach has the eyes of the nation on it, or at least they will pretty soon. Depending on how far the national soccer team goes in the Cup of Harmony 49, and how far the University of St.John's Island goes in the NSCF playoffs, the Silverians will have their eyes on international basketball come the end of this tournament. So while nobody may care right now about what Silver Beach does and does not do in this tournament, after the Cup of Harmony and NSCF playoffs(Go Cardinals!), Silver Beach will want to be in a position to have something to play for when the country really starts tuning in towards the end of qualification.

As for the Andromeda Islands. The Andromeda Islands is a mostly female team, led by Cassie Ellis, who averaged 29.2 points per game in domestic league play. She is young, at 24 years old, and she will be the key to their attack. Silver Beach will have to stop her, and look at the Coach rotating players to guard her. Both Jacob Arkins and Harold Arnold will be guarding and defending Cassie Ellis. Also look for Coach Blazers to throw different looks at her, like going small, going the double team, etc... He may try the let her kill you, but let nobody else hurt you trick, where they don't double team and let her kick out for 3 pointers, or they try to play ball prevention and not let her get the ball, and always double team. IT's hard to say what they will do, though they may do both just to try and confuse her.

Silver Beach will have lots of energy on its home floor. Silver Beach is playing at the National Indoor Arena, and over 18,000 fans are expected to show up for the Silverian opener. They will be excited, but the Andromeda Islands are just flat-out better than Silver Beach. They are ranked 35th for a reason, and look for Cassie Ellis to not score much, but to distribute the ball and have her teammates knock down shots to knock off Silver Beach on their own home court, 87-76. Whatever happens though, we are all behind the Bears!

Flames aim to stay strong despite volcanic eruption in Yesopalitha

Perhaps it is a good thing that the Yesopalithan national basketball team has a bye on the first day of competition. Still shocked by the eruption of Mount Calroan, this all-male, all-human team shall try to brush away the bad thoughts and focus on what they are supposed to do - play basketball.

This unranked team will have to beat two unranked teams as well as #3 Cassadaigua, #11 Andossa se Mitrin Vega, #24 Bergnovinaia, and #70 Cakistan in order to reach the playoffs. It will be a tall order, but Coach Scandricks says that the goal is to win some games and develop a good reputation.

Here is a interview with Coach Scandricks:

Reporter: Why have you not included any Vampires, Werewolves, or other Unbidden creatures in your team?

Scandricks: I wanted to show the world that we are willing to play their game. If we had Vampires or Werewolves on our team, other teams might declare that it is unfair. This way, win or lose, we are fair and square.

Reporter: Why do you not have any women in your team?

Scandricks: I was going to, but when Mount Calroan blew up, all the potential women in the team all quit because they wanted to be closer to family, especially those whose family lost everything. I am lucky enough to have the guys that I have right now.

Reporter: How will you spend your bye day?

Scandricks: I reckon we'll have another practice, and then have the players rest up. Hopefully, The Sacred Heart will be filled to the brim when we open international basketball competition against Cassadaigua.

Reporter: Realistically, how do you see your team finishing in this group?

Scandricks: Well, the ranked teams will provide a challenge. Hopefully we can finish third or above. And our competition will remember how hard we played, and how sportsmanlike we were.

Reporter: Anything else you want to add, Coach?

Scandricks: To all those affected by the volcanic eruption, I send my regards and prayers. Hopefully we can entertain you for a few hours to help you forget about your worries.

Reporter: Thank you Coach Scandricks.

Scandricks: Anytime.
