The tenth "Baptism of Iron" competition for teams new to international gridiron is taking place in The Kytler Peninsulae.
In this thread, you will post roleplays about your team and their performances. They don't have to be strictly about the game - in fact, it's often more interesting if they're not. What is your star QB actually thinking of as he takes the snap in a key situation? What are the fans up to, both at home and in the stadium? Are the media outlets covering the game scrupulously fair, ludicrously jingoistic, or recklessly critical? What goes on in the locker room or the team hotel? Basically, the results are just the loose structure on which you can hang your roleplaying creativity.
The performance of your team will be greatly improved if you produce consistent roleplays of a high quality. Teams receive an "RP bonus" based on roleplaying quality, valued on a 10-point scale. Three matchdays of RP count towards your team bonus, and that bonus greatly affects the results. I did a test of 3,000 games between two teams with maximum and zero RP bonus respectively - the team with the bonus won over 91% of the time and racked up over 35 points per game while conceding under 15 points. Of course, the results are still random and there are no guarantees that roleplaying will lead to wins - it just makes it a heck of a lot more likely.
To help both your RP and that of others, teams are advised to post their rosters on this thread. Present them how you wish - a straight list of your starters and reserves on each side of the ball, a depth chart by position, details of the players if you wish. The rosters will count as part of your RP bonus, too, and to help out other teams, it is recommended that you fill in this mini-form with your roster post:
- Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Y/N
Choose scoring events: Y/N
RP injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod scoring events: Y/N
Godmod injuries: Y/N
Godmod other events: Y/N
For those unfamiliar with sports RP, "godmodding" in this context is essentially the roleplaying of exceedingly unlikely events - because the results are generated separately from the roleplaying (unlike, say, war RP), this is usually done in the spirit of comedic fun. However, some people prefer their RP to be strictly realistic, and they would hence deny permission for godmodded events in their games. Your call.
