Baptism of Iron X: RP, roster, and scores thread

The tenth "Baptism of Iron" competition for teams new to international gridiron is taking place in The Kytler Peninsulae.

In this thread, you will post roleplays about your team and their performances. They don't have to be strictly about the game - in fact, it's often more interesting if they're not. What is your star QB actually thinking of as he takes the snap in a key situation? What are the fans up to, both at home and in the stadium? Are the media outlets covering the game scrupulously fair, ludicrously jingoistic, or recklessly critical? What goes on in the locker room or the team hotel? Basically, the results are just the loose structure on which you can hang your roleplaying creativity.

The performance of your team will be greatly improved if you produce consistent roleplays of a high quality. Teams receive an "RP bonus" based on roleplaying quality, valued on a 10-point scale. Three matchdays of RP count towards your team bonus, and that bonus greatly affects the results. I did a test of 3,000 games between two teams with maximum and zero RP bonus respectively - the team with the bonus won over 91% of the time and racked up over 35 points per game while conceding under 15 points. Of course, the results are still random and there are no guarantees that roleplaying will lead to wins - it just makes it a heck of a lot more likely.

To help both your RP and that of others, teams are advised to post their rosters on this thread. Present them how you wish - a straight list of your starters and reserves on each side of the ball, a depth chart by position, details of the players if you wish. The rosters will count as part of your RP bonus, too, and to help out other teams, it is recommended that you fill in this mini-form with your roster post:

Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my scorers: Y/N
Choose scoring events: Y/N
RP injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod scoring events: Y/N
Godmod injuries: Y/N
Godmod other events: Y/N

For those unfamiliar with sports RP, "godmodding" in this context is essentially the roleplaying of exceedingly unlikely events - because the results are generated separately from the roleplaying (unlike, say, war RP), this is usually done in the spirit of comedic fun. However, some people prefer their RP to be strictly realistic, and they would hence deny permission for godmodded events in their games. Your call.

The teams involved in this competition are:

Arcatea
Arsenolia
Beldonia
Beskie
Braxil
E-lands
Homelands our
Joneslind
Krumbia
Lymantatia
Miley World
Penguinland
Sarzoclava
Space
The United City-States
Thrilledge
Toronina
Tryienne
Welebecer
Wreuvyuss

The draw for the group stage will take place at around 2300 GMT (1800 ET), and be posted shortly afterwards on this thread. Stadium details will be provided at that point.

Stadium and other IC information

The Kytler Peninsulae is a small federal republic located in eastern Rushmore (map; takes a while to load). In common with most of that region, the Kytlerian people are at least mildly obsessed with sport, for the most part, and although the country is very young and small - there are fewer than ten million people in the country - it has already established a proud sporting tradition, with a string of Olympic gold medals from Lasft and a playoff appearance on their World Bowl debut standing out as particular accomplishments.

The country's politics are moderate, leaning libertarian - though there is a well-funded and seemingly omnipresent police force, owing to the historic problems before the modern-day country was formed, where anarchic rule by drug-dealing mobs was the norm. Expect plenty of police in the ground, but don't expect much hassle from them.

Being a small nation, the stadia are not the capacitous behemoths you see in most countries. They do, however, have distinctive appearances and a fine atmosphere is guaranteed in most of them. Accommodation is widely available, although not necessarily in all cities; some fans may find it easier to base themselves in one of the country's many coastal resorts, where a string of low-cost, adequate-quality, locally-owned guest houses can be found.

In alphabetical city name order:

Image
A two-tier L-shaped stand around one-half of the stadium has a dramatic gap out in the corner, providing a view of several major buildings in the downtown area of this, the major city in the south of the country. The remainder of the stadium is a single-tier affair, with seats close to the field of play (as is common for most of these stadia, as they were usually built for soccer).

Image
Hidden in the southern mountains, which can be snow-covered in winter, this town has become extremely rich from the local uranium mines. This has allowed for a major redevelopment of the once-shambolic Valley Stadium, now bearing the name of one of the nation's leading mining corporations. The main stand is where the money went; the rest is single tier, uncovered banks of seating, although for many that just emphasises the intimidating nature of coming here.

Image
A garrison town in the south-east, Bravin is proud to consider itself the "home of the brave". Bravery Field has been redeveloped piecemeal in recent years, and a new corner stand has been added in time for this competition (not visible in this shot). The top of the north stand (pictured) features bleachers, so college gridiron fans might want to book seats there, and those who value comfort might not.

Image
A picturesque, hill-enclosed port town in the north-west, Edencliff is a major tourist destination, and is fiercely proud of its environmental credentials. In addition to the stated capacity, a temporary stand made mostly from recycled materials will be erected in the empty corner for this competition, increasing the capacity by 1,093 to 18,127.

Image
The largest city in the country, and once synonymous with squalor and crime as a centre of illegal trade for the whole of Rushmore. Gentrifying at an almost frightening rate these days, and this is arguably the most modern and well-appointed stadia in the country. Wilkinson Stadium - sponsored by the country's leading grocery store chain - is in the trendy south-west of the city, not far from the titular bay, and consists of four two-tier stands with "stilts" built between the two tiers in each, to increase natural light inside the stadium.

Image
The "capital of the north" is noted as the first Kytlerian city to host international sport, when Roddens University Field staged a World Lacrosse Championships group game. The newly-built "Artech" is nothing like that ramshackle college field; it features extensive glazing, huge standing-room balconies at the top of the lower tier on each sideline stand, and a stand at one end (not seen in picture) that completely retracts to make room for a stage, making this the leading concert venue in the country. The newly-refurbished Winter Gardens, just a 15-minute walk away, features a huge grass amphitheatre that will be a "fan zone" for the tournament.

Image
In the rural south-west, this was the historic aboriginal capital. Mass murders took place in the area when the nation was colonised by European settlers, but the city survived, and is still a hub for what is now a minority aboriginal population. Expect fabulous tribal dancing upon being greeted to this newly-built stadium, named in memory of an entire tribe slaughtered in the colonial wars. All four stands are similar to the one pictured (but without the large entrance gap), with small corner sections enclosing the stadium.

Image
The purpose-built Kytlerian capital, symbolically built close to the rural farmhouse where the nation's modern form was eventually agreed after painstaking negotiations. (The farmhouse survives, and the area immediately around it is protected land.) The "Zee" is a national icon, and is a fitting venue for the first international final to take place on Kytlerian soil.

New York Times

Miley World wins!

In it's first game in the Baptism of Iron, Miley World won 37-30! Offensively the Untamed Robots played really well and Nick Walker passed to 438 yards but defensively it wasn't that good: only one sack, no interceptions, 388 yards allowed and 30 points allowed. Beldonia won the coin toss and they scored on their first drive, then Miley World also scored on their first drive (a 29 yards pass by Nick Walker to Titus Dawson). Then Beldonia scored again and Miley World scored again and the Untamed Robots finally took the lead in the 3rd quarter and they didn't trailed anymore in the game. Nick Walker has 3 passing touchdowns and he was the offensive player of the game. Kenndall Davis has 8 tackles and one sack and was the defensive player of the game.

Scoreboard
Team 1 2 3 4 T

Next game

Miley World is now 2nd in the group 1 because of a lower difference of points scored and our next game is against Arsenolia at the Bravery Field in Bravin, Kytler Peninsulae. Arsenolia lost 23-7 against Homelands our and they're last in the group 1.

Thrilledge Defeats Beskie to Begin Baptism of Iron X

Thrilledge starts of its Baptism of Iron with an offensive explosion scoring 47 points led by a great performance in both the passing game and the running game by quarterback Blastings Thrilledge. The quarterback ran for 156 yards and a touchdown and threw for 312 and 2 touchdowns in the 47-22 win over Beskie. Thrilledge was in top form and he couldn't be happier about it. "I was just feeling it, you know; I just had a good feeling with every snap. But it wasn't all me. I have to give credit to those big guys up front who make it all happen. Looks like I'm buying them dinner tonight."

"I felt like i had a hole to fit an elephant every time I touched the ball," said running back Grant Ferguson who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns. "I barely had to block on most passing plays as well. Our line was totally overpowering the D-Line. Ferguson also caught 5 passes for 42 yards. Receiver Kyle Jacobs caught 6 balls for 113 yards and a touchdown including a 47 yard touchdown reception off of a beautiful play action fake by Blastings Thrilledge. Jacobs explained his success...

"With more of the Beskie cover emphasis on Carl [Vincent] i felt i could break free into one-on-one coverage a lot more often than normal. Very rarely was there a safety to help the corner which left the deep middle open for me to use my speed against the opposing corners." Thrilledge also threw a 19 yard touch down pass to tight end Ryan Rutledge on a well thrown pass on a corner route to the back right corner of the end zone. Kicker Braedon Pollack hit 4 field goals from distances of 31 yards, 48 yards, 43 yards, and 37 yards.

Head Coach Andrew Winston was pleased overall by the performance but was a little skeptical about how the defense will hold up in the rest of the Baptism of Iron and even the World Bowl. " I did not see enough pressure on the Beskie quarterback from the defense today and we need to put more pressure to disrupt the passing game. We got beat way to many times by the pass in the game and i would like to prevent that in the future." Thrilledge's next game is against The United City-States who fell today to Tryienne by the score of 37 to 23.

Back in Thrilledge the word reached the press of Thrilledge's win but the people were not impressed. "One game is not a championship," said Blastings City resident Lee Kelly, "if football wants as much respect as hockey and baseball has then we better see some good results out of our team, and then maybe people will start to care." Tomorrow's game will be in Borlfield in the Kytler Peninsulae at Robera Stadium. Hope you all tune in.

Miley World beats Arsenolia!

In the 2nd game of the Baptism of Iron, Miley World beat Arsenolia 31-26! Once again the Untamed Robots played well offensively, scoring four touchdowns. Defensively Miley World let Aresenolia score two touchdowns but Arsenolia also made four field goals. The offensive player of the game was Nick Walker who passed for 396 yards and has two passing touchdowns. He also have 16 rushing yards. Defensively the player of the game was Braden Krause with 1 sack and 7 tackles. Defensively, Miley World adjusted its formation, sending a nickel formation on the field more often this time, but when you use a 3-4 formation and then you send a nickel formation you have to take out two linebackers and add a defensive tackle and a cornerback, so Willis Paxton and Gene Rose didn't played a lot.

Scoreboard

Head Coach: Dave Bailey, 44 years old
Offensive Coordinator: Enrique Escobar, 49 years old
Defensive Coordinator: Matt Smith, 53 years old
Special Teams Coach: Neil Hendry, 37 years old

Starting Offense
QB 7 Joe Connors, 23 (6-foot-1 3/4 inches, 206 pounds)
Connors makes up for his lack of height with great mobility. However, he has a tendency to get happy feet in the pocket and scramble when he could make plays by buying time while a receiver gets open.
RB 20 Mark Christian, 25 (6-foot-3, 235 pounds)
At first glance, Christian doesn't strike you as the kind of running back who can get to the outside and outrun too many defensive backs, but he has surprising speed once he gets to the edge. Soft hands makes him a threat coming out of the backfield.
FB 42 Wayne Charles, 34 (6-foot-1, 245 pounds)
A bruiser, plain and simple. Never met a block he was afraid to attempt. Great at blitz pickup but fumbles too often on the rare occasions when he touches the ball.
LT 61 Mike Kendall, 30 (6-foot-6, 315 pounds)
Not the fastest lineman on the field, but has quick feet for a big man. Can set terrifying blocks when the Suns run the ball, but is slightly less confident in obvious passing situations.
LG 64 Ed Raleigh, 37 (6-foot-4, 295 pounds)
Makes up for lack of pure size with excellent technique. Studies his opponents and uses his high football I.Q. to his advantage. A coach on the field.
C 55 Mel Ogden, 28 (6-foot-5, 305 pounds)
Can hold his own against all but the biggest and strongest nose tackles in the game on pure strength. Uses cunning against the rest.[/i]
RG 73 Nate Astor (24, 6-foot-5, 320 pounds)
By far the youngest offensive lineman in the lineup, he has to use his size and athleticism as his biggest assets. Lack of experience sometimes costs him. He finished with the most holding penalties of anyone on his team.
RT 77 Steve Ryan (32, 6-foot-9, 345 pounds)
Called 'The Tank', Ryan is much more than just sheer bulk. He has studied his position little by little and is a frightening sight when he pulls on counter plays.
WR 81 Clarissa Arthur (29, 5-foot-7, 155 pounds)
A Sarzonian-born wide receiver, Arthur is the first woman of Sarzonian descent to make a major impact in men's gridball. She led her team with 93 receptions for 1,349 yards and nine touchdowns.
WR 85 Jack Henry (35, 6-foot-3, 212 pounds)
Henry is the possession receiver of the bunch, leading his league in first downs per reception. His 12.7 yards per reception doesn't scare too many opponents deep, but he is fearless coming across the middle.
TE 88 Warren Edwards (39, 6-foot-4, 260 pounds)
Edwards is a blocking tight end but has made some of his team's biggest catches and can barrel over smaller (and sometimes larger!) defenders when he catches a pass.

Starting Defense
91 DE Clayton Montgomery (28, 6-foot-4, 285 pounds)
Known for his speed rush and for his relentless motor when it comes to rushing the passer, Montgomery is suspect against the run.
60 DT Brett London (32, 6-foot-2, 320 pounds)
London is a run-stuffer who is agile enough to disrupt the backfield on passing downs. Has been known to use an opponent's fears and foibles against them. Plays nose tackle in a three-man or five-man line.
70 DT Chris Fletcher (29, 6-foot-5, 310 pounds)
Fletcher is also good at stopping the run, but can also apply pressure to the quarterback. Had a career-high 5 1/2 sacks a year ago.
97 DE Eric Ruben (27, 6-foot 3, 300 pounds)
Great strength and speed make him the biggest all-around threat in the front seven.
LLB 50 Steve Haley (25, 6-foot-2, 255 pounds)
If your team has a pass-catching threat at tight end, Haley will be one to cover him. Only the very fastest of tight ends can get past Haley.
MLB 54 Danny Lowell (30, 6-foot-4, 250 pounds)
Intelligence and recognition of an opponent's tendencies land the otherwise undersized Lowell in the middle linebacker spot.
RLB 59 Jermaine Jordan (28, 6-foot-2, 240 pounds)
Terrifying hitter, but he sometimes tries too hard to hit rather than wrap up and tackle.
LCB 27 Oscar Hall (25, 5-foot-9, 150 pounds)
A classic shutdown corner, Hall is sometimes reluctant when it comes to making tackles.
FS 28 Daryl Anderson (26, 6-foot-1, 200 pounds)
Cerebral as a safety, he often calls out coverages and can audible when he sees the opposing quarterback do so.
SS 32 Galen Jerome (28, 6-foot-3, 235 pounds)
A merciless hitter with the speed and skill to cover wide receivers like a cornerback and hit like a linebacker. Think Sean Taylor if he were still alive.

Special Teams
P 4 Ned Barkley (6-foot-2, 210 pounds)
Holds on extra points and tries field goals of 50-yards or longer. Also the emergency fourth string quarterback.
K 2 Brad Pascual (5-foot-11, 170 pounds)
Accurate from 40 yards in, but he becomes less reliable after 45 yards. Holds for Barkley on long field goal attempts.

Reserves will be filled in later.

Academy of Space chosen to Represent all of Space in Baptism of Iron

The Academy of Space Football Team, which recently participated in the NS College Football Season, has been chosen to represent all of Space in the upcoming Baptism of Iron competition. Being the most experienced Athletes in Space at the moment, it was felt that continuing on the... experience... of participating in the NSCF would give Space the best possible chance to succeed in the Baptism of Iron.

Freshman Comet Jetson really turned heads in the tryouts and is expected to play defensive back. His older brother Impact will join him on the roster. The receiving corps are fast, very fast! And very deep. There is no clear favorite and the receivers will compete each week for their position in the lineup. Likewise, the not-so-accurate Concrete LaDucka will struggle to maintain the starting Quarter Back position without a strong performance in the opening match.

Powerful senior Fullback Noso Faso will likely be a short-yardage specialist in the running game while freshman Marjuli Nitrogen will be looking for some space to run at defenders in open field to show off some skills.

Coach: Cosmo Icii

Cosmo has been coaching the non-competitive team at the Academy of Sport for 3 seasons and was the only candidate considered for the job. As far as the board is concerned, the job is Cosmo's for the entire season, regardless of the record, so long as he doesn't embarrass the school. While not recognized previously by the NSCF, the Academy has attempted to conform to standard practice by identifying those players who are further along in their schooling but never participated in the sport team with the appropriate allocation. The National Assossiation of Space Athletics (NASA) has requested Cosmo double as the National Team coach.

Head coach Matt Payton and defensive coordinator Jim Rodgers were talking in the hotel lobby.

Jim: "Hey Matt"

Matt: "Hey Jim whats up?"

Jim: "I've been thinking about something, you know our normal formation on defense is a 3-4 formation, but when they has 3 WRs we use the 4-2-5 nickel formation..."

Matt: "yeah that's right, why are you asking that?

Jim: "We only have 2 linebackers on the field when we use the nickel, I fink we should use a 3-3-5 nickel instead of a 4-2-5"

Matt: "A 3-3-5? I've never tried that. But we'll only have 3 guys on the defensive line against 5 guys on the other side."

Jim: "I know but our strenght is our linebackers, I don't like like having only two on the field. I fink we should use a 3-3-5"

Matt: "Well ok... so I guess we have at least 2 linebackers who are blitzing?"

Jim: "Yeah when we'll use the 3-3-5 formation, two linebackers will be blitzing, maybe even 3 sometimes."

Matt: "Ok i'm convinced we'll use a 3-3-5 nickel instead of a 4-2-5. But what about the dime formation when they has 4 or 5 WRs? we'll take out another linebacker I guess?

Jim: "Yeah the dime we'll use is 3-2-6 I fink its better than 4-1-6 cuz our stenght is our linebackers."

Matt: "Well thats good we'll start practicing our 3-3-5 nickel tomorrow on the field."

Jim: "Good"

Matt: "Yeah"

Jim: Well I need to go, see ya later"

Matt "See ya"

On this bye day for Thrilledge we see the team practicing out on a local field. We see defensive coordinator Colby Melton working his corners hard. We catch Kevin Wilson in between drills... "This is tough but we know we brought in on ourselves. We've played poorly and we know it too. Hopefully this bye day will give us some rest that we need to get our mind right for the rest of the tournament."

The next game is a critical one for Thrilledge facing a 2-0 Tryienne team. A win means a trip to the next round for either team. Tryienne has been playing well defeating The United City-States and Penguinland by a combined 30 points. Thrilledge looks to run up the scoreboard as they have done well so far in the tournament, leading the Baptism of Iron with 86 points. We know Thrilledge can score but can the defense hold up against Tryienne? Melton thinks so:

"Yes, we have struggled so far this tournament but this extra day of practice and watching our team develop makes me optimistic. I believe we can hold Tryienne to under 20 points as long as we dominate the line of scrimmage and we don't get beat deep. Our offense has had our back and kept us in the game, but now it's our turn to help them out. I think we can. This Tryienne team is a tough one but as long as we play our game, we can win. This Thrilledge team can make a run at the title." And they can. Thrilledge has shown a lot of promise and can go far in the tournament.

Thrilledge citizen Jim McRae had this to offer, "Look, it's only the Baptism of Iron. It's for newbies. We as the people of Thrilledge wont settle for a third place finish or we'll be super embarrassed. We want a championship and we want to make a deep run in the World Bowl."

Miley World is qualified!

Miley world beats Homelands our 37-20 and have won all its games so far! The offensive player for Miley World was Nick Walker again and the defensive player was Tyrelle Webb. Webb had 3 tackles 1 interception, 1 pass deflected and 1 defensive touchdown today.

Next Game

With this win over Homelands our, Miley World is qualified for the next round and our next game is against Braxil who is also qualified, this game will determine who'll be 1st and who'll be 2nd in group 1.

Rico's Rankings

We have asked our football expert Rico Suave Jr to make his rankings of who he thinks is the best football team in the BoI X:

#1: Thrilledge - Thrilledge is one of the favorites to win the Bowl of Iron X
#2: Miley World - Miley World is also one of the favorites but they has a tough matchup against Braxil.
#3: Space - Space is better than it shows in the standings. They will need some help from Krumbia and Arcatea to qualify and their group could end up with every teams having 2 wins and 2 losses.
#4: Homelands our - I know it's weird ranking an eliminated team 4th, but they were't lucky to lose by 7 points against Braxil and then they lost against one of the best team, Miley World.
#5: E-lands - E-lands won all their 3 games but i'm not convinced of them, I think it was luck.
#6: Lymantatia - Lymantatia weren't lucky, they lost by 4 points vs E-lands and by 5 points vs Wreuvyess. They should qualify if they wins vs Welebecer.
#7: Braxil - Braxil got a huge win vs Homelands our on week 3 and with their win on week 4 it secures them a place in the next round.
#8: Tryienne - Tryenne wil almost certainly qualify to the next round, thanks to Thrilledge who'se going to beat Penguinland.
#9: Krumbia - Krumbia is actually 4th in the group 2, but I think they're better than that. They will beat Jonesland and help Space to qualify.
#10: Sarzoclava - What happened to Sarzoclava? At the start of the BoI I had them in my favorites to win it but their loss on week 4 against Lymantatia really hurted them and they're almost done unless they beat E-lands by a huge pts difference.

Thrilledge Rolls Into the Next Round

How about that? The Thrilledge Dreadlocks has qualified to the knockout stage of the Baptism of Iron with a convincing 56-19 victory over Tryienne. This was the performance that the coaching staff was looking for; a complete domination and some good defense. The theme of this tournament has been Thrilledge being led by Blastings Thrilledge, who once again had a monster game, throwing for 491 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushing for 154 and a touchdown. Receiver Carl Vincent was the key target for Thrilledge as Vincent racked up 208 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Game one standout Kyle Jacobs redeemed himself as he caught a touchdown along with 127 receiving yards. Tight end Ryan Rutledge also had a touchdown and 91 receiving yards.

Even though Thrilledge scored an insane amount of points (in every match day, excluding the bye, Thrilledge has led the tournament in points) the defense definitely stepped up. Only allowing 19 points and sacking the Tryienne quarterback 6 times, 3 by Cornelius Hill. It wasn't just the line, the coverage stepped up too only giving up 231 passing yards and picking off the quarterback twice including a pick-six by Rashaud Cooper. Defensive Coordinator Colby Melton was quite pleased... "I guess that bye helped. They really stepped it up and it showed in not only the scoreboard and also the intensity they played with."

Thrilledge has one more game in the group stage against current second place Penguinland who is 2-1 with the one loss coming to Tryienne 23-7. As Thrilledge has already qualified and has a 61 point differential lead over Penguinland, expect head coach Andrew Winston to rest his starters. As of right now, Thrilledge looks like the team to beat right now in the Baptism of Iron and they are cruising along easily, leading the tournament in points for and point differential. But Thrilledge isn't the only good team out there. Miley World, E-Lands, and Space are all legitimate contenders that could take home the title. Hopefully this impressive performance so far will carry into the knockout round and even the World Bowl. See you tomorrow in Borlfield.

Thrilledge Defeats Penguinland and Cruises Into the Quarterfinals

Just as expected, the backups played and Thrilledge defeated Penguinland by a score of 24 to 18. Backup quarterback Charlie Michaelson threw for 256 yards and a touchdown in his first appearance in the Baptism of Iron. Halfback D.J. Carrington ran for 119 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Wide receiver Sergio Valentine was the Dreadlock who stepped up with 97 receiving yards and a touchdown. The defense played quite well as Thrilledge gave up the least amount of point so far. Head coach Andrew Winston is enjoying the play. "I like having the momentum going into the quarters. A team on a roll is tough to beat."

He is right. Thrilledge comes into the quarterfinals winning 4 in a row and scoring 166 points. Penguinland also advanced to the quarterfinals, placing second in group 4. The quarterfinal matchups are Arcatea (second in group 2) vs. Miley World (first in group 1), Braxil (second in group 1) vs. Space (first in group 2), Penguinland (second in group 4) vs. E-lands (first in group 3), and Lymantatia (second in group 3) vs. Thrilledge (first in group 4).

We brought in our football expert, Shea Bryant to analyze each match up.

Arcatea vs. Miley World: Arcatea has given up 91 points and is quite vulnerable defensively. Miley World has breezed so far this tournament going 4-0 and looks like a championship caliber team. We expect no different; Miley World wins quite decisively.

Braxil vs. Space: Braxil has not been able to put points on the board as much as other qualifying nations but they have a strong defense. We see Space's improvement from the start of the tournament a good advantage. It will be close, but Space gets the win.

Penguinland vs. E-lands: Penguinland started with a win but has been very inconsistent losing badly to Tryienne and getting some clutch plays to get some key wins. E-Lands, 3-1, has won each of its games by such a small amount of points it is hard to tell if they are lucky or good. With a loss to Sarzoclava it is tough to trust this E-Lands team. We like Penguinland to keep up the clutch play and make it to the semis.

Lymantatia vs. Thrilledge: Lymantatia coming in at 2-2 has played generally well but after almost falling to Welebecer they may be a tad shaken up. Thrilledge comes into the quarterfinals as the team to beat dominating 3 of the 4 first round games and racking up the points. The defense can be shaky but it has improved. Look for Lymantatia to be competitive but expect Thrilledge to came away victorious without much trouble.

Miley World wins again

Miley World beat Braxil 13-9. Braxil, who are one of the best team defensively, put more pressure on Miley World quarterbacks Nick Walker and Aaron Finley, getting more sacks, knockdowns and hurries than the other teams we faced. Nick Walker was benched at the end of the 1st quarter after being sacked twice cuz coach Payton didn't want to risk his star quarterback to be injured, Miley World was leading 7-0 at that time. But Walker came back in the game in the 4th quarter when the score was 10-9 for Miley World. It's hard to tell who was Miley World's offenve player of the game, I would say our kicker Paul Hayward with 2 field goals in two attempts and an extra point. And Miley World's defensive player of the game was Willis Paxton with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 pass deflected.

Game summary
Team 1 2 3 4 T
Braxil 0 3 3 3 9
Miley World 7 3 0 3 13

1st quarter
MIL: 14 yards pass by Nick Walker to Noah McKinley with 4:41 remaining
2nd quarter
BRA: 41 yards field goal by Kicker with 2:56 remaining
MIL: 51 yards field goal by Paul Hayward with 0:00 remaining
3rd quarter

4th quarter
BRA: 44 yards field goal by Kicker with 10:26 remaining
MIL: 32 yards field goal by Paul Hayward with 5:03 remaining

Interview with Coach Matt Payton

We have interviewed Coach Matt Payton after the game about why he benched Nick Walker after only one quarter.

"well he got sacked twice in the 1st quarter and he took a long time to get on his feet after the 2nd sack so I told Finley you'll be in for the next drive and maybe for the rest of the game. When I told Walker he was benched he wasn't happy but he understood."

Miley World advances to the quarter finals and will play against Arcatea in Alaer. Arcatea is a familliar country for Miley World's soccer fans because they were at the Baptism of Fire and they did pretty well. Our soccer team also played against them at the 1st Quall Cup, another soccer tournament. Their american football isn't as good as their soccer team and they're kinda weak defensively. Miley World should beat them.

In the other quarter final games, we have Braxil agaist Space. Penguinlands against E-lands and Thrilledge against Lymantatia. Space and Thrilledge should win their game.

Injury Report

Brett May (tackle) injured himself against Braxil and is doubtful against Arcatea.
