Cabric Roster post

Postby Cabric » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:51 pm

After a tough fought game against Saugeais at WBC 18 that came down to the finalinnings to determine the last playoff berth, the Cabric Caribou have just one goal at WBC19: Get that last win and make the playoffs. With the success of Cabric's baseball team and the good showings by the Soccer team at the BoF, WcQ and CoH recently, the team had to have tryouts to determine the 25 players which will make up this squad. In fact so many people (85 people) showed up, we even found a manager! 25 year old Jake Manto, was the nexxt-to-last player cut from the team, but the Cabrican Baseball Association was impressed enough with his knowledge of the game (he scored a 134 on the 140 question Baseball IQ test) that they signed him as manager for the next 3 WBC's.

Here is the 25 players that will attempt to make the trip to Newmanistan. (Players returning from WBC 18 are in italics)

Cabric will use the DH at home.

Easiest portion of Schedule: MD's 7-11. Cabric plays 4 of 5 games on road, but 3 of the 4 are against newcomers and the home date is against S. Canuckland.

(yes the toughest and easiest portions do over lap...why...why not?)

NEWMANISTAN -- The schedule and group draws have been released, and the best news Lycrabon's team got was that they will not face the hosts until the playoffs (assuming both get there). However, by no means did they draw an easy schedule. Saugeais, host of the tournament Frank Thompson made his managerial debut in, will face the Jays twice. The group and schedule:

Group 2:
Michael VII (NR)
Sakurakoku (28)
Colmark (35)
South Bucks (NR)
Saugeais (11)
Arnett Mead (NR)
Lycrabon (8)
Darmen (NR)

Schedule (projected pitcher, once rotation is set):

MD1- June 23rd- @ Sakurakoku
MD2- June 24th- Colmark
MD3- June 25th- @ South Bucks
MD4- June 26th- Saugeais
MD5- June 27th- @ Arnett Mead
MD6- June 28th- @ Darmen
MD7- June 29th- Michael VII
MD8- June 30th- Sakurakoku
MD9- July 1st- @ Colmark
MD10- July 2nd- South Bucks
MD11- July 3rd- @ Saugeais
MD12- July 4th- Arnett Mead
MD13- July 5th- Darmen
MD14- July 6th- @ Michael VII

STARTING PITCHERS (AS OF 20 JUNE 11):
P 18 Tom Benson (24)
P 19 Tyrone Conley (34)
P 20 Zachary Francis (29)
P 21 Bruce Barrett (30)
P 22 Glenn Carrillo (33)

Projecting the final standings, while no easy task, looks to be - barring an upset or two - a three-team race. Saugeais and Lycrabon look to battle for the precious first-round bye that goes to the group champion. Colmark should make a dark horse run for at worst third, and may challenge for the bye.

Capital City Gazette Predictions:
1. Saugeais (11)
2. Lycrabon (8)
3. Colmark (35)
4. Michael VII (NR)
5. South Bucks (NR)
6. Darmen (NR)
7. Arnett Mead (NR)
8. Sakurakoku (28)

And now, a brief rundown on the new face on the squad:

SS 4 Sean McCormick (19, star shortstop for Newcastle University)
A power hitter, like his predecessor, Sean hit 46 HR over 60 games for the Newcastle Hurricanes in leading his team to a semifional finish in the CWS. Though he was drafted by the Lakeview Mariners of the National Baseball League, he had not signed as of press time. Since the League pushed back the startof their season to accommodate the Classic (the NBL St. Catherine Blue Jays play where Lycrabon's home games will be - Riverside Stadium), it is still in flux as to whether one of Newmanistan's aces, Brianna Bruce, will be pitching in front of him. She left the Rockets squad under controversy during WBC 18, and was rumored to be in negotiations with Lakeview - rumors that the Rockets personnel wouldn't confirm or deny. During the break between Classics, all Lakeview officials would say is that they were in talks with Ms. Bruce.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Frank Thompson, new manager, has already confirmed that if she comes to the Blue Jays, he would guide her starts like Newmanistan's entire pitching staff: pitch until at least four get scored against.

OOC: Just a friendly heads up to all: I cannot guarantee anything as far as RP starting with the group game at Saugeais (#11). I go on military maneuvers starting the 7th of July. I'll do what I can with my phone (thank you Verizon Internet phones!), but between the S.O. wanting pre-trip lovings and the trip itself, I doubt I'll be able to do much of anything.

The Jagoza Express

22 June 2011 SCE

Michael VII Baseball Team for WBC 19 announced!

Well Jagozan baseball fans, here we have the National Baseball team announced for the 19th edition of the WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC!
Fresh off their quarterfinal performance in the 2nd Saugeais Baseball tournament a few weeks ago, the Falcons will be looking for a better performance on the big stage.

In Michael VII's group, there are four ranked teams:
Lycrabon, ranked 8th in the world, finished as a quarterfinalist in WBC 18, losing in a game 3 to eventual champions, Sarzonia.
Saugeais, ranked 11th in the world, host of the Saugeais Baseball Tournaments, lost in Round One in WBC 18, losing to Qazox, a quarterfinalist.
Sakurakoku, ranked 28th in the world, was eliminated in the group stages in WBC 18, winning only 2 of their group matches.
Colmark, ranked 35th in the world, went 3-5 en route to a group stage knockout in WBC 18, Colmark looking healthier in the Falcons' eyes, defeating the Falcons in the quarters of the 2nd Saugeais Baseball Tournament, fellow group members Lycrabon in the semis, before falling th hosts Saugeais in the final. Expect a surge from Colmark in this series, or will Lycrabon and the Falcons seek revenge and take it?

Also in Group 2, there are four unranked teams:
Michael VII, the Falcons, obviously the team with the most support here in MICHAEL VII
South Bucks
Arnett Mead
Darmen

The Jagoza Express gives a prediction of results here:
1. Saugeais, 6-2 Group Champions
2. Colmark, 5-3 Playoffs
3. Lycrabon, 5-3 Eliminated due to 2-0 sweep against Colmark
4. Michael VII, 4-4 a solid effort for the newcomers
5. Sakurakoku, 4-4 We just don't see them getting very far
6. Arnett Mead, 3-5 With these teams, we're just guessing, but some have to play well right?
7. South Bucks, 3-5 Should be able to spark up some results
8. Darmen, 2-6 Drawn in the pool last, gonna come last, a couple upsets maybe, but not nearly enough for playoff contention

Okay, well here is the Falcons' roster for WBC 19

The Babbage Islands at World Baseball Classic 19

Peter Robbins shook his head. The Babbage Islands Baseball walkout came at an unfortunate moment, with entries for World Baseball Classic 19 due. The negotiators were not optimistic about a quick settlement.

We're not going to miss this again, he thought.

Robbins picked up his own phone and called his old friend at Xianggang, Li Tingzhi. The message was short and sweet: "Congratulations on the national championship. How would you like to play in the World Baseball Classic? With the pros not playing, you're the best we've got."

As the call ended, he sighed in relief. Easiest selection process ever--that's a silver lining.

Team: University of Xianggang Mandarins

The Zwangzug Zebras!

Numbers after the teams denote their first tournament: this is mostly for personal record keeping. RPers have free rein, though I'd ask you to justify any departures from the given lineup or "rotation".

The Zebras are a defensively-minded team overall, eschewing many power hitters in favor of patience at the plate. Pitchers, likewise, tend more towards finesse than speed. There is no DH used at our home stadium, the Worm Hole (located in Spenson).

Manager: Gina Croes (FTC Crabs) She's back, and still on the incomprehensible side. She'll also have the Zebras run more than you might be used to, though they're by no means a running team.

Croes has followed the example of her most recent predecessor, Henry Maddox, in abandoning the traditional idea of a bullpen. Instead, all twelve Zebras pitchers are starters on their professional teams (though they'll also come off the bench to work relief here). They'll start the group stage games in order (with Lewis and Garfield starting twice); no set rules as to who comes in when, feel free to make it up if you're RPing before me (but probably not the starter for either the previous or following game).

#18, Susan Lewis, L/L, Kerlagrad Dragons, 18 (starts in Vantelira and Sahanaea)
#22, Jeffery Garfield, L/L, Noh Weir Red-Tails, 17 (starts against Syvorji and Matting)
#44, Calvin Wright-Ming, R/R, Bassabook Grey Socks, 18 (starts in Armorgames) started Game 1 against Mytannion
#49, Indira Barker, R/R, Logrove Dolphins, 18 (starts against Civil Citizenry) started Game 2 against Mytannion
#27, Pedro Morris, L/L, Hadiln Tigers, 18 (starts in Milchama) Game 1 against The Babbage Islands?
#62, Rory Timber, L/L, Inver Millers, 18 (starts against Sahanaea) Game 2 against The Babbage Islands?
#37, Anthony Pound, R/R, Zwischen Bears, 18 (starts in Matting)
#40, Maxwell Guith-Brathan, R/R, Noh Weir Red-Tails, 18 (starts against Vantelira)
#72, Ruth Mardi-Rosen, L/L, Hadiln Tigers, 18 (starts in Syvorji)
#39, Frances Kraudren-Witsgelin, R/R, FTC Crabs, 18 (starts against Armorgames)
#19, Harshal Hedegger, L/R, Spenson Worms, 19 (starts in Civil Citizenry)
#20, Gail Frez, R/R, 102d Gray Sox, 19 (starts against Milchama)

Starting lineup:
#4, Mason Blitch, second base, R/R, Nuel Panthers, 16

"So, who's in our group this time?"

"Camwood, they're not ranked."

"I think I've vaguely heard of them. Their other athletes seem to be improving, they could do well. Maybe even beat us. We suck."

"Now, don't say that? Norman Costabile did just fine with the team last time, surely he can manage the Phoenixes into the playoffs?"

"Costabile can't manage at this level. And he brought on a bunch of young guns that had bad attitudes and didn't do anything."

"Oh yeah, right...well, anyway, there's also Taeshan. They're not ranked anymore."

"No, but they used to be really good at baseball. They won the classic six times ago."

"Yeah, then they disappeared...we'll see though. Taeshan's team rarely practiced back then though, I doubt they'll do the same now."

"You never know. Either way, I don't like our chances against them."

"You're so fucking pessimistic, just shut the fuck up about it for once...and then-"

"Hey, not in front of the kids!"

"Oh, yeah...but anyway, there's Tarrentum."

"Damn it. They're #1 in the world, runners-up the last two tries. And they seem to take their baseball really seriously. Unless Costabile puts Sanchez or Wolfe against them, which he won't because he's a class A moron, we'll get our shit tossed."

"Yeah, I kind of have to agree with you there."

"At least we can say we played the eventual runners-up."

"You don't think they'll win it all?"

"Nah, they'll choke again, just like always. Remember how they were up 3 games to none on Newmanistan and still lost?"

"Yeah, that was pretty bad."

"Can't play in big games, I guess."

"You'd think they'd have some experience in big games at this point...but anyway, then there's Aglorea."

"Who?"

"Yeah, I know. They'll probably be one of those teams that just spends the entire tournament drinking because they decided they have better things to do."

"That's what the Delaclava team did at WBC17, over in Lycrabon. Outside of the country in fact."

"Yeah, that's because they kept losing, and Lycrabon was a shithole country who couldn't organize. I remember I had my ticket to a game and I still couldn't get into the stadium. Walked for an hour in that pollution only to just walk back. I left that night."

"Damn, that sucks."

"Yeah, I know. But then, we have Quintessence of Dust."

"We have to face them again? I hate playing them, they're terrible sports. You know, after a loss a few years back, our team was drinking at a bar and the Quodites came in, started taunting the players and throwing things at them. Of course, they got away with it because it was in their country."

"Only half of it. They weren't able to actually bid by themselves, for some reason."

"That would have been a good idea for Lycrabon, you know."

"Probably, but hindsight doesn't help much, I suppose...then, we have The Confederate States of America and Weegee and Rick Steves."

"Huh, haven't heard of either of them. I feel like I came across the first one in an old textbook or something."

"Damndest thing, huh?"

"You can say that again. Hey, weren't we supposed to host this thing?"

"Yeah, we lost. DOC actually put forth a good effort, but we're not a baseball nation like Newmanistan is. And I'm guessing some of the voting committees saw our players drinking and not practicing much in the past tournaments. But what are you going to do, right?"

"Right. Didn't someone want to boycott this Classic because we lost?"

"Yeah, Sarzonia's chairman wanted to, because he wanted to play in Delaclava. But he got outvoted. Yay for democracy! I hope we get to play them."

"Me too. I loved watching that Cyanea Series."

"It was fantastic, wasn't it? It was way after the season, but you could tell how much both teams eventually got into it. And the way Woodstock bounced back after that 15-0 loss, that was spectacular. Best baseball I've ever seen."

"Really?"

"Yeah. No one cares at the WBC level. The true heart's in the domestic leagues because there's somewhere to actually progress to."

"I see what you mean...but maybe we could try hosting it again next time?"

"We could. We might be too busy hosting the World Cup though."

"Come off it. You think we'll actually try World Cup 57?"

"I don't think it'd be very popular internationally, but it keeps getting harder and harder to find people who want to host it and are actually serious about it. It's like pulling teeth nowadays! And I know everyone in Delaclava wants the World Cup back here again. Now that was fun!"

"Oh yes. I didn't really understand the rules of football that much, I really only know baseball well, but I learned so much and had so much fun. And everyone who's there is just happy to be there, you know? No complaints about organizers, no this and that...just good old athletic competition."

"Exactly. Why can't we have more WBC's like that?"

"Now, last time was good."

"It was. Cassadaigua knows their stuff when it comes to hosting tournaments like this, which is pleasantly surprising considering they really haven't hosted that many competitions."

"Too bad we couldn't get there though!"

"Yes. We could get to Newmanistan this time though. The last time it was played there we made it that far. We could do it again."

"Maybe. Hey, aren't you supposed to be picking up your kids from day care?"

"What? Uh...probably. I'm kind of cold though, give me another joint for the road."

"You can't just keep asking for stuff from my stash, the feds will get us if you're careless."

"Screw it, the feds know they have no choice but to let it by. It helps the economy."

"Well, can I least get some compensation for what you've gotten from me the past few months."

"Sure...here, that should be about right. I gotta go, since apparently I have kids to pick up, or something."

"Yep, see you around."

THE WBC 19 NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

World Baseball Classic 10, 12, 15, 17 Champions.
World Baseball Classic 7, 9, 11, 14 Runners-Up.
The Greatest Nation in WBC History.

Technical stuff:

Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No, as my lineup is posted here. Follow that!
Follow my Pitching Rotation: My starting pitcher for the next game will always be announced in my RP from the previous game.
Godmod scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but only to the extent of saying so and so was injured. I’ll determine the severity
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes on a basis of no more then one more then you eject from your own team.
Godmod other events: No, except for weather. That you can. NO NO-HITTERS/PERFECT GAMES AGAINST US UNLESS YOU ARE RANKED IN THE TOP 5 IN THE WORLD. I CONSIDER IT A GODMOD IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE THAT AND PLAYING US.

Additional Information that is very important to me: Newmanistan does not prescribe to the modern day concept of pitch counts determining how long a starting pitcher is kept in for. In fact, pitch counts are not even kept track of outside of curiosity sake. Such count is not displayed on the scoreboard, so if you want to track it for your pitcher, you must do it manually. If Newmanistan has given up 3 runs or less, then the starting pitcher has gone all nine innings. No ifs, ands, or buts. This is true even if it would have been a save situation.
– Another Newmanistan trait is aggressive base stealing. Think back to the days of Vince Coleman and Ricky Henderson in their primes.

Head Coach- Christina Sanders (Southport)- has coached all of our teams so far.
Hitting Coach- Allyson Payne (North Charlotte)
Pitching Coach- Carrie Lynsder (Hampton)

Home Stadium for all Group Stage games will be Empress Jessica Stadium (formerly Pocono City Stadium). The DH is NOT used.

Timeline Note: The Newmanistanian timeline considers all sporting competitions in its progression. In Newmanistan, the year is currently 2104, which makes it two years after WBC 18.

Rotation: (pitchers bat with the same hand the pitch with)

1A)Courtney Ratigan (RHP- Pocono City)- At 31, Courtney has done her part to become one of the most fabled pitchers in Newmanistan history, which if you know us, is a big accomplishment. She’s already been on two championship teams, but is two as desireable as three? Of course not. Her specialty is the heat, but that wicked cutter will give your batters fits. Also has an impressive curveball and slider. Made headlines last season by not re-signing with Olympia and took a huge contract from Pocono City, which now means her and Jessica Brasfield are teammates at the club level as well. If by chance the Rockets end up in Olympia during WBC 19, she will probably be booed.

1B)Jessica Brasfield (RHP- Pocono City)- The 30-year old finally became the “Brashfield” in the WBC as she is back in Pocono City with all of her trash talk. She clearly got in the head of Tarrentum’s Gina Torretta in the championship series, and you could see the effects of Gina’s, then the Falcons, unraveling. Jessica backs it all up on the mound, and like Ratigan, has already won two championships. She also had a great WBC 18, and was in no way the reason for the team’s early departure. She’s at her best when she changes the speeds of her pitches. She has a great fastball, and knows how and when to mix in a a great changeup and curveball. Her slider has also developed quite well. Now teammates with Courtney Ratigan in Pocono City, “Brazzy” is actually the 1 and Ratigan the 2 with the Capitals.

1C) Courtney Keisler (RHP- Stroudsbourg)- The second coming of Stacey Keisler returns as the now 18-year old returns for her second tour of duty. She had a great WBC 18, including a 1-hit shutout in the group stages. Her fastball is still developing, obviously, but is still impressive. She may be more reliant here on the curve and slider, plus a splitter.

1D) Meghan Stewart (LHP- South Tier)- The 23-year old is the daughter of former SP Tara Stewart (who is also a WBC Hall of Famer). Tara Stewart and Stacey Keisler’s careers coincided, so it’s not that completely coincidental that they would have daughter’s around the same age as well. While Courtney has gotten all of the attention, and bypassd Meghan, coach Sanders is obviously eager to see what Meghan could do at this level as well. The opportunity presented itself, and this hard thrower should capitalize.

1E) Stephanie Marshall (LHP- Dover City)- You wouldn’t think you would see a 26-year old international rookie as a part of the Rockets starting rotation, would you? Neither do many radio talk show hosts in the Empire, but the fact is ever since Stephanie left Seminole Bay and signed with Dover City, her career has taken off. She’s a power pitcher, and working with the pitching coaches with the Mountaineers has enabled her to become a more complete pitcher with the addition of a nasty splitter. It’s atypical of us, but she has earned it.

Bullpen: (Smaller then most because of the nation’s reliance on starters)

Cassie Herrick (LHP- South Tier)- Cassie is actually a starter with South Tier, but the 31-year old is more then happy to continue to pitch on the senior team as a reliever, which she now does for the 4th time.. Look for the southpaw, who brings the heat but also a nice cutter and slider, to act as the main long reliever in case a starter needs to be pulled early.

Brittany Castelli (RHP- Fairfield City)- The 28-year old was a starting pitcher for the Rockets in WBC 15 through 18, and still starts with Fairfield City, butwith Keisler and Stewart now in the fray, she was downgraded to long reliever for WBC18. Many people think she should have gone back into the rotation here. The coaching staff is confident that she will be able to accept the decision and do well.

Rachel Cosgrove (RHP- Tundra Falls) - Rachel will likely be assigned the middle innings, or extra innings. With the Mariners, the 28-year old is a starter, so that will be just fine with her. Her curve is her out pitch, but she will bring the heat as well.

Set up/Short Relief: Sara Schaefer (RHP- South Tier)- Sara is a versatile pitcher that could pitch in long relief, but will instead be used here. The 35-year old was widely considered our top reliever during WBC 15 as a 7th inning or an extra inning specialist before stepping into this role for the WBC 16 and since then always steps up when called upon. Unlike the other relievers here, she actually is a reliever at home. Extremely consistent, and showing no signs of aging yet.

Closer: Erica Barrett (LHP- Southport)- She will not be the first name that comes to your mind when you thinking of great Newmanistanian pitchers, or great closers in the game. But this was the one spot in the roster that we struggled in the early days to find stability with. Barrett, at 27, has provided that, and figures to be in this role still for quite a while as long as she remains as effective as she has been so far. She is a hard thrower and mixes in a cutter and splitter to go along with it, and just when you think you might have her figured out, she’ll add a knuckleball just to keep you off balance.

Batting Order: (throws/bats)-:

1) Caitlin Leffler- CF (R/R- Stroudsbourg)- The 23-year old stepped into the leadoff spot in WBC 18, and performed well, though she has pretty big shoes to fill. Look for Sanders to try and get this speedster more involved during this Classic.

2) Kaylee Picard- LF (R/S- Nashua)- The toughest decision that coach Sanders had to make was to figure out which speedster deserved to take the spot vacated by Meadows. But in thinking about it, she opted to simply put Leffler and Picard 1-2, giving the Rockets twice the speed threat at the top of the lineup. At 22, Picard has also been a teammate of Leffler’s at the Keisler Cup level.

3) Julie Sexton- 1B (R/S- Olympia) Sexton may have taken a Classic to get comfortable with her starting role, replacing the great Natalie Monroe, but in WBC 17 she definitely showed why she got the nod to start. The 27-year old mainly hits for average, but continues to increase her HR total year by year and now averages 19 per season. She hit 7th in WBC 18, and moves up here with the international retirement of Meghan Butler.

4)Courtney Weinman- RF (R/R- Tundra Falls)- Courtney has emerged as the leader of the offense. One of the top things about the 34-year old veteran to appreciate is the fact that she doesn’t look like someone who’d be a power hitter based on her physical stature, but she is. She also has a career .342 BA and averaged 45 HR’s per season. Weinman has long hit in the 3rd spot, but moves into the cleanup spot, where Butler had been, for this Classic.

5) Kristen Wheeler- SS (R/S- Pocono City)- At 31years of age, “Miss Clutch” is still in her prime and should continue to impress at this level. She has all the tools, hitting for average and power (averages 29 long balls a season), and has a career BA of .467 with runners in scoring position. Don’t forget about her on the basepaths either, or she will steal bases often as well.

6) Courtney Stafford- 2B (L/S- Olympia)- When the Rockets trailed Tarrentum, 3-games to none in the championship series, coach Sanders made a subtle change to the starting lineup to “wake it up”. That change was replacing Rachel Cuyler with Stafford at 2B. The rest, they say, is history. The 25-year old now has the job full-time, and since the championship victory, you can see her confidence soar even further. Since that move her BA the last four years has been .340, .345, .342, .349 and HR totals 35, 41, 39, 42. Watch for her on the basepaths, she will steal bases.

7) Jessica Larkin- 3B (R/R- Putnam Lake)- Jessica makes her debut in the starting lineup, but was on the bench in the last Classic and also has previous experience in the Keisler Cup. The 25-year old inherits the hot corner from Meghan Butler, and is more of a contact hitter then a power hitter, but she’s also outstanding with the glove.

8) Tara Rulison- C (R/S- Centralia)- The 34-year old has a career BA of .269 and averages 12 HR’s, so she is not a liability with the bat in her hand. But make no mistake, she is here for her behind the plate ability. She is a master of working with pitchers, and in throwing out baserunners (and remember we run a ton in Newmanistan, so Rulison is well-experienced in attempting to throw people out).

9) Pitcher

If DH: Danielle Scott- OF by trade (R/S- Southport)-[/u] The 30-year old started from WBC 14 to 17, but became the odd woman out when Sanders opted for more speed at the top of the lineup. Scott is just fine with this, especially since Sanders is also her manager with Southport. Danielle is mainly a contact hitter, but has a career .325 BA, so she does it well. She also averages 102 walks a season.

On the bench: (we have more people here then most only due to our small bullpen. It all evens out.)

Kristen Snider- C- Only to be used as a substitution behind the plate, never to pinch hit.
Rachel Cuyler- MI
Erica Hilton- CI
Jillian Sanderson- OF
Corinne Gratton- OF
Kristen Graves- Utility

OOC to those not as familiar with me in baseball:
The Newmanistan media and players are arrogant. They act like they are the #1-ranked team in the World (though technically now ranked #2, they still feel they are better then Tarrentum), and the winningest team (championship-wise) of all-time and they flaunt it whenever possible. Don't take offense.

By:John Jackson

It's baseball season! And the Jimmer Fredette Yellow Jackets are ready for their first season. It won't be easy this year though because inn their group is number 13,Virabia,number 48,Chenkoyra,number 22,Cotdelapoms,and number four,Sarzonia. It looks like a stacked group, but hopefully we can get through and make a run at the playoffs. The coach,Scott Gillam, said the team looks great,it's basically an all-star team of the Jimmer Fredette Baseball League.I'm honored to be known as the best coach in the JFBL and the team looks really good, not making errors, the pitchers have some speed and accuracy, batting superb, and I'm looking forward to this season.Opening day pitcher, and ace,Danny Rojas said he is nervous, but excited about the game, but he knows he will perform well.He went on to say that playing against number 22 Cotdelapoms will be a big challenge for game one,but I'm ready. My best pitches are the slider and change-up,they look even better then normal, and hopefully I can perfect everything else, such as the curve ball.Clean up hitter,Justin Nelson said it's great being on this team and I'm honored to be known as the best hitter in Jimmer Fredette.Even with that,I'm sure Coach Gillam will take me out immediately.Hopefully I can keep that spot as best hitter.Cotdelapoms has not released their roster yet,so we don't know their starting pitcher or their lineup.Cotdelapoms though, will be a very, very tough match up.Hopefully we win and remember,LETS GO BEES!

X Island Inquirer

It has been 4 World Baseball Classic's since the last time the nation of Taeshan played an international fixture in the sport of baseball. It has been fve years since the last time the Purple Knights were ranked. After their first and only title (WBC 13) the Knights failures in the tournament which subsequently led to an early end for what was the old national team. The old manager of seven years (Jamie Stewart) stepped down and as political turmoil horrored through the nation baseball was far from the peoples minds. And no one cared that the once great Baseball power, and power in many other sports was now just a memory.

Five years later though, like a Phoenix from the ashes, the Knights are back. Led by new manager former Third Basemen Alexander Parea, and with only 3 players with senior level experience (Zach Lee Harper, Kareem Mywane, and Adam Fisher) the once again young Knights have returned to the international scene. The rest of the team is made up of 20 years olds that took part in the first Keisler Cup as both the Taeshan lower age teams. The young adults look to shock the world, and shock many in Taeshan by even playing up to standards of a time only remembered by the oldest of Taeshani players, and the diehard fans of a time past, a time of such rich ball in the nation.

It will not be an easy road back to baseball prominence. Once small favor has been paid to the team though, the hosts of Newmanistan recognizing the reemergence of a once important nation, they were given a favorable pot drawing do to being the highest of the unranked teams. This puts Taeshan at a small advantage only having to overcome 3 ranked nations, as opposed to the four of other groups. Yet at the same time with only 3 teams advancing from each group the Knights have a daunting task in front of them, not only will they have to be perfect against the unranked teams in their group, they will still have to knock out one of the 3 teams that are ranked, No small thing.

Who you might ask is in our group, what great nations shall we play. Well on the list is the Number one ranked team in the world, Tarrentum. Who obviously have done something in since the departure of Taeshan from the baseball world. Tarrentum will most likely take two games from the Kngiths, but perhaps not, they have not played in the icedome that is Quarant Xa'virt Sphark. The second big team is 15th ranked Delaclava, who seem to be in much better form then we would remeber them to be, but they still are fallible and at least one win will be need from these games. The last ranked team is Quintessence of Dust, Number 21 in the world who also are a favorable team to play, and we can expect to hopefully garnish 1 if not two wins from their hands.

The four unranked temas are Aglorea, Camwood, The Confederate States of America, and Weegee and Rick Steves, hopefully they can get 8 wins against these teams which will surely help them as they hope to qualify to the playoff rounds. So though the task sure looks daunting only one team seems sure to advance from this group, World Leaders Tarrentum. Beyond them it looks to be anyones game at advancing. I would expect one of the other two ranked teams to advance, but hopefully with a lot of elbow grease and sweat the Knights can work their way back forward towards a chance at the the glory the nation once had internationally.

By Marice Matts

The weather is warming up and you know what that means. It is baseball time!
Armorgames is making their first ever appearance in the World Baseball Classic. They are a group of young ball players looking to do their country proud. Along with their eccentric skipper Bob Brown. If this season doesn't go well, there could be some blow ups.
Armorgame's pitching staff is highlighted by Dan Young, a 22 year old righty who has quickly been promoted to the number one pitcher. Many people have not heard of Dan but you will. He throws a wide variety of pitches. From a fastball upwards of 97 mph to a devastating slider to a knuckle curve. He can, and almost will throw any pitch know to man.
The closer this year is Sean Feller, a right handed pitcher who is working on becoming switch handed and being able to match up with anybody. He is a fire baller who can blow anybody away. Sean has been clocked at 107 mph on his fastball.
One of the best position players on the team is Marvin Neckleson. He is a power hitting lefty and a great defensive first baseman.
One of the most valuable players on the AG team is David Butler. He isn't an everyday starter, but he can play every position except catcher, yes that means he can pitch. David can also bat from either side of the plate.
Armorgames plays their first game against Sahanaea tomorrow. Lets root them on!

3rd place in 12th World Lacrosse Championships
2nd in the inaugural U-18 IBC.
