For information's sake, will there be any change in RP cutoff times for games Delaclava scorinates?

Also, just to make sure I'm clear on the schedule: there will be no scorination Thursday night regardless, correct?

To Sarzonia (or maybe Delaclava, who's scorinating it): Despite me RPing first, I'm allowing the Allamunnic States to contradict whatever I had in my RP, and as such, please do not punish them for it. Thank you.

Just that 5 FG's from a team that isn't known for them is a bit of a stretch, and Allamunnic States TG'd me about it. I don't have a problem if he goes off script for his RP, but just wanted to let you know that if he did, you don't take it out on his RP bonus.

It's cool; I can roll with it. You RP'd it first, and I allow people to pick scorers for me. Thanks for giving me the option, though, Qaz.

No need to make an exception, Sarz. I'm going to work with Qaz's RP. Makes everyones' lives easier.

On another note, A.States would have very, very angry players getting so close... five times... :p

Ah, OK. It just seemed a bit of an unusual request which is why I asked.

Even if A.S. were to go off script, since you gave explicit permission, it wouldn't have counted against his RP bonus. I'd treat it the same way I'd treat two RPers posting within seconds of each other for the purposes of how it'd affect RP bonus.

Wow, I dropped eleven spots. I think I'm about to go through a slump if I don't do a better job RPing the next World Bowl (Damn you, Marge). Just out of curiosity, does anybody know who's the lowest ranked team that's won a World Bowl?

Congrats to Sarzonia on the title and a well run tournament!

Congrats to
Sarzonia for becoming the first host to win a World Bowl
and the 2nd ever with multiple titles.

Sarzonia: Good job hosting and thanks for not siccing the dogs on my team while they were there.

As for the All-time records project... I'm up to World Bowl VIII (the massively complicated one, even more so than WB XIII) and I should be done by Wednesday compiling all the records. So expect the main page of the project up Thursday, with the playoff records up likely Friday.

Now, I venture into the fields. Once more mankind gazes upon me. Unto the breech shall I go and advance to the gold. Fore it is there at the top of the mount where Heroes of Lore struggle in pursuits of battle. Many shall climb the mountain and many shall fall because there can only be one, Champion. The Victorious shall be remembered and remember shall they. It is their stories passed down through our ancestors, told in many now unspoken tongues, that urge us to seek out ourselves whoever they may be.

Up to WB XII on the compliation. The last two will be a headache in the making. XIII because of the playoffs, XIV due to the number of teams.

Most losses: Lucino: 12 at World Bowl 6 (worst team of all time: 0-12

9 teams have gone 0-10 or worse at a World Bowl.

Only teams to go winless in multiple World Bowls: Lovisa and kenavt (coincidently they both went 0-10 @ WB III)

kenavt is the losingest World Bowl team of all time (mininum 2 appearances) with a 1-21 record in 3 appearances.

More factoids once I'm done.

Thanks for the congratulations and the compliments on my hosting!

If I may, let's wait until between World Cups to run the World Bowl. I think participation might have suffered because we were running concurrently with the World Cup.

Yes, I know for some people *cough* Bluth *cough* this IS their World Cup, but with 72 nations competing, to only be on the ninth page of the RP thread is somewhat disappointing. Perhaps some of that might have to do with the fact that rosters and scores were on separate threads this time out, but rosters only were two pages' worth and scores were barely one. I'm sure there would have been more active participation if we weren't going directly up against the World Cup.

I'm also somewhat relieved that the wacky results of the beginning stages of the World Bowl moderated by the end, and that the teams that did well were largely either veteran teams (such as Bluth) or up-and-coming teams such as Oiseaui. Granted, we still had a couple of headscratchers in the knockout rounds (Hickory Creek), but by and large, most of the teams that did well were teams that had reason to.

Since I doubt very seriously that NSFS will get the improvements that most of us have clamoured for, I'll be on the lookout for a scorinator that can better handle the sort of style modifications that allow us to fit the personalities of our teams. If I go with NSFS again, we'll at least know that style mods won't be a factor.

On a final note, I wonder if the extreme workload of this World Bowl was a function more of the set up I used with separate threads or the sheer volume of nations. Running a 72-nation competition certainly felt like running a World Cup solo, though it's taken longer for me to run a 24-nation World Lacrosse Championship on any given night than it took for me to post results here.

Add three pages, that makes twelve. I'm not at all certain that disappointment is warranted. You're surely correct that the World Cup cut into participation; it certainly did for me. (OTOH, although TBI got started in gridiron soccer has always been the preferred game.) Yet if we place ourselves at the mercy of the variable administration of the World Cup for our scheduling, we indirectly adopt their chaos when it occurs as our own.

It would be quite surprising to see the fix take place with NSFS. And I can tell you all from experience that doing style mods and preserving scores with versimilitude are often contrary objectives!

Running a big World Bowl is every bit the equivalent of being a World Cup co-host.

The level of parity amongst contenders now is fascinating--that's eight strong nations within 1.85 in the list above. And it's not a massive gap from #5 to #1.

Of the 72, how many are the long-term established veterans--nearly all of whom, as best I could tell, RPed roughly as much as they have in the past? How many are brand-new people, for whom we all knew all along that most of them would not do much if anything?

Most tournaments, we have a pretty good-sized batch of newbies. Most tournaments, only a very few of them will actually emerge into active RPers--and those are the ones who usually stick around; the bulk will sign up and probably never come back. This time around a LOT of names I've never seen before, and most of which (Hickory, Marvin Harrison, etc.) we'll probably never see again. Jimmer Fredette and especially Sakurakoku, on the other hand, will probably stick around. This is what always happens. It's just that this time we had a greater proportion of newcomers relative to the entire field, but it's not surprising that we see the same basic pattern.

I agree with Bluth. My lack of RP at its normal level had nothing to do with the overlap of the World Cup, I wasn't RPing much there either, and more a combination of other non-NS-related factors.
