Baptism of Iron 8 everything thread.

Postby Qazox » Tue Apr 19, 2011 8:11 pm

Welcome to Qazox. Don't believe everything you've heard. Except the part about us being very casual about wearing clothes, that part is true. But you're not here for that, now are you? You are here to compete in the 8th Baptism of Iron.

The important stuff: This tourney relies on RPing. You can RP about anything you want to about your team, but there are some limitations, more on that later.

Every team that posts a roster, which will hopefully be all 36 of you; will use an RP Permissions box. Within, you can control how your opponents can RP your game against them.

If My Opponent RP's first they may:
Choose my scorers: Yes/No
Choose scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod Scoring events: Yes/No
Godmod injuries: Yes/No
Godmod "other" events: Yes/No

If you don't know, godmodding would be having the ball strike off a passing bird on a punt, and your 3rd string center returns it 100 yards for a TD. Basically, keep your RPs within the realm of probablity. Unless you happen to face a team that allows godmodding (or don't post a roster). Then go crazy if you so wish.

For a roster, you will need at a mininum of 11 players on offense and 11 players on defense. You can go as in-depth as you want with your players, providing backbrounds, performance stats from your leagues, college history, whatever. Or you can just do the minimalist approach and just have a name and maybe a number. Alos included within your Roster, include a Style Modifer. A style modifier adjusts how the scorinator determines the number of possessions your team has. The range of modifers will be from -2 to +2. -2 is a defensive modifer, reducing the number of possessions, leading to usually lower scoring games. +2 is an offensive modifier increasing the numberof possessions, usually leading to highe scoring games.

Your RPs can be as in-depth as you want as well. Most teams include a game recap or scoring summary or play-by-play or a high-light show. Some barely mention the score and focus on how the game affected certain players. Other than the following limitations, you can do whatever you wish.

RP LIMITATIONS:
1- Follow your opponent's permissions box.
2- The final score is the final score. Failure to comply will result in an RP bonus penalty for the day.
3- Don't have any events that involve any Qazox citizens.

Enough of the introductions. let's get down to business. The group Draw will be on Thursday, April 21st at 11:00pm. Each team will be placed into a group with 5 other teams. There will be 5 games played, one against every other team in your group. There will not be any ties in the group stage. After the 5 games have been played, the 2 best records from each group will advance to the playoffs. Teams will be ranked by the following tiebreakers:
Tiebreakers to be used within a group:
    H2H Record
    H2H Point Differential
    Overall Point Differential
    Away record
    Away point differential
    Coin Flip

Tiebreakers to be used for playoff seeding:
    Overall Point Differential
    Away record
    Away point differential
    Coin Flip

All efforts will be made to prevent teams from the same group from facing each other in the first round. The 4 teams with the best records will receive a bye into the Quarterfinals, while the other 8 teams will face off in the first round. It will be a single-elimination tourney, so winners advance, losers go home.

I know that is a lot of suff to throw at you, but have fun regardless. Start posting your rosters and RPs now.

Gridiron is played within Oiseaui's borders and we are excited to not only make our first Gridiron appearance but to (hopefully) prove that we are a force to be reckoned with. Amegia, Cabric (Offices of Cabric International Sports Federation or CISF)

CISF President Amy Reed- "I still can't believe it. First the soccer team and now the football team? Why do we have to go to Qazox?"

CISF Director of Football Operations Frank Mancuso- "Listen, it's not that bad. They've ensured us that Scourge is completely eradicated and that any potential AWOL personel will not be arrested due to diplomatic immunity for sporting events."

Reed- "I know that, but I have a gut feeling that something is gonna happen over there. What if one of the parents or security members runs into an old rival, or hated family member and something happens? I'd be held responsible for that, not them."

Mancuso- "I doubt that. I think you're just afraid of running into your ex over there." (chuckles a bit)

Reed- "I seriously doubt that. He's probably forgotten me after 20 years. Just don't want to run into him."

Mancuso- "Who? Your son?"

Reed- "He's the reason why the Baptism of Iron's being held over there. He orgainized the bid and is in charge. And as CISF president, I at least have to show up once and i don't need to re-hash the past with him."

Mancuso- "If you want, I'll go in your stead, that way you can focus on the soccer side. They actually won last night, huh?"

Reed- "I can't let you do that. And stop trying to change the subject. I have to go, there's a banquet for all the sports federation presidents the night before. And as the bid president, he'll be there. What can I say to him if he asks why I left?"

In a throwback to the great Celtic Age of Gaelic Football, Daizland has put together its first ever team to compete in a Baptism of Iron contest. Having the inspiration of the never forgotten heroes of old and the grit and determination that is the root and foundation of Daizland, the ‘Demons’ will give everything to the cause! What they may lack in experience they will make up for in raw courage and the will to win.

Amegia, Cabric (Offices of Cabric International Sports Federation or CISF)

CISF President Amy Reed- "Anyway, the schedule came in a few minutes ago, that's the real reason why i called you in."

CISF Director of Football Operations Frank Mancuso- "Let me take a look."
Cabric's Schedule:
MD 1 (April 24): Tza Kian Maaa
MD 2 (April 25): Reparadocs
MD 3 (April 26): Armorgames
MD 4 (April 27): Camwood
MD 5 (April 28): Pandio

Reed: "Luckily we're over in Rockport, but if we make the playoffs, we might have to go to Fromburg."

Mancuso: "That's where you're from originally, right?"

Reed: "A little town called Amges just east of there. Enoug changing the subject, have you tape on any of these teams?"

Mancuso: "Just Camwood so far, the other teams have had little or no prior experience. We have a good chance here, I think."

Reed: "Well, as long as we get over .500, it'll be fine. A bit strange, Qazox not having ties in football this time around, usually they like having them."

Mancuso: "Maybe Eric hates ties as much as you do."

Reed: "Maybe. Dammit. The flight to Qazox City leaves in 3 hours. And you know how airport security is nowadays. We need to get going."

"The Daizland Daily"

Reports from New Bruxon at the Demons training ground are suggesting that this team have what it takes to make an impression at this Tournament. They have already found favour among the locals with the FULL ON training routines! "Its just hit after hit after hit! Unbelievable!" said one enthusiastic fan. "If this is how they hit when they train, how hard are they gona hit when they play for real?!"
Head Coach Brian Boru was considered in his response when asked about their chances..."yes there is an expectation on this team to perform, nobody feels that more than the players themselves. There is a serious amount of pride in the sporting history of this nation and this new venture into so called 'american football' is a challenge we all relish"

Head coach, Jose Bilbrey, says they've done great in practice and if they perform the same way in the game this will be a spectacular season. In practice the offense is executing every play and the defense is hitting hard and looks like a shut down defense. Quarterback, Eric Hyde looks amazing in practice. He said that he always knows there is always room for improvement and he won't give up on anything. The captain on defense, Paul Gillum the middle linebacker, says the defense should do great this year. He expects no long giveaways this year.LETS GO JF!
