In retrospect, my previous posts might reflect an anti-Chinese bias when I've also said before that we could warm up to China without pissing off the Americans as Duterte has done -- but I'm entirely lost as to what you mean.

Our cognitive biases must not fool us. We cannot deny that China is a viable trading partner despite its human rights abuses. In the world of business, we have to become pragmatic and get as many inflows of cash as we could. Nation above all.

Their human rights is less a concern than their imperialism.

Novus America represents my vision of an awesome Atompunk near future United States of America expanded to the entire North American continent, Guyana and the Philippines. The population would be around 700 million.
Think something like prewar Fallout, minus the bad stuff.

Politically I am an independent. I support what is good for the country, which means I cannot support either party.

No, it is not a good one. The war on drugs thing mostly just gets you dead bodies. But drugs continue. Take the Swiss approach, treat it like a medical problem. An approach that actually works without massive numbers dead.

Six years, unrenewable, I'm afraid.

I'm afraid, because six years is long.

Their human rights is less a concern than their imperialism.

I have a hunch that you may be over estimating their level of malevolence. China is just like everybody else, they want nothing more than prosperity for their nation and China is also on top of a house of cards, one wrong move abroad and the party's rule will falter.

Six years is enough time for some nasty shit to happen. The nasty populist scapegoating will not help the Filipino people as well as hinder economic growth/investments due to the rhetoric of Du30.

Duterte will wipe out Abu Sayyaf.

And yet too much focus is being sent to drugs to warrant any attention to Abu Sayyaf.

Vows are empty unless one acts upon them.

The parties rule is absolutely secure. It is not house of cards, it is a fortress. And explain then what China is doing in the SCS?
It not that they are malevolent per se. Just that the still have the Middle Kingdom attitude.

Plus see Russia. If their economy continues to slow they will probably turn to war to maintain popularity. Russia prefers conflict over prosperity.

The Chinese government is just a bully and opportunist. They will push until they meet resistance.

Look, I don't like how the Duterte administration is trying everything it can to please the Chinese (and I'm utterly mystified as to their motives in reaching out to Putin's Russia), but realignment in itself is not grounds for... Lord Almighty, another People Power?

Jesus. Can we not stick with constitutional prerogatives and let Duterte finish his term? If what Duterte is doing with the drug situation will in effect discredit this nation's already tottering institutions, ousting him will be more of that same.

No, no he isn't. (And let's not play the ideological game, please.)

What do you mean: 'No he isn't'?
Whatever happened to his jet ski to the West Philippine Sea, now he's talking of an ending to the American wargames because CHINA DOESN'T LIKE IT? How is that not the first signs of selling us to the illegal and Illegitimate Chinese Government?
