Backstory/Biography: Anna Maria Sandesgeist was born during a calm, brisk night in Manhattan, NYC. Being the only child of two scientist parents who often bordered on being absentees, Anna would become a brilliant, yet distant child. Because she wasn't tended to as a child in the way that her peers were, she didn't develop a 'normal' emotional gauge, but she did feel a bit affected by the lack of parental attention she received, which is where her interest in science came from. She wouldn't begin to show her brilliance until middle school, however. Attending Verdant Collegiate Charter School as a new student in Grade 7, Anna was often quietly sat in a corner by herself, reading a book or studying while the other kids played and went on with their usual activities. The few times she tried to make friends, she would be ignored outright, or messed with. She would give up social interaction until Grade 12, when she was approached by an ambassador of the Burnside Academy for Brilliant Minds; a university for those with above-average intelligence and other advanced talents.

Anna's parents were well-known astronomers, who had just begun to pay their daughter attention...a bit too late, as she was now 17 and attending university. The Sandesgeist family were respected by a handful of organisations, and when they were approached to participate in the lunar habitation project, they couldn't say yes quickly enough. A number of years later, both Mr and Mrs Sandesgeist died in a classified accident on Luna. Shortly thereafter, a representative was scouting for talent at the Burnside Academy, when by chance, they met Anna. After learning who her parents were and looking into her academic background, she was invited to participate in the lunar habitation project. Not only would she be given space to work without someone breathing down her neck, she would also be given access to resources the project's committee had access to, as well as recreational assistance. The kicker? She would be able to continue her education if she wanted to, and would earn college credits simply for participating to the best of her ability! Seeing the opportunity to make her parents proud, and be part of something challenging, Anna almost teleported into the program's Conceptual Sciences Division.

Qualifications: Masters of Science - Burnside Academy | Masters of Techonology - Burnside Academy | Doctorate in Science - Burnside Academy (postponed; continued under Lunar Habitation School of Luna)

Appearance: Anna is a short young lady with a delicate frame. She often keeps her long black hair tied in a professional, office-style bun, with her bangs covering her soulful, brown eyes. Her skin has a touch of olive, and she tans easily. Good thing she lives on Luna! You can find her wearing either a white labcoat with the whole skirt and heels get up, or a simple t-shirt with canvas shorts. Only when she's doing the ambassador thing does she get on her suit-n-tie game.

Faction: The Free State of Luna
Role: Anna is one of the leading individuals of the Free State, though she still leads her team in the Conceptual Sciences and Innovation Division.
Motivation: She wants to create a society that would represent a model for future galactic civilizations to come, and one that would make her parents, and her faction, proud.
Other Information: I'll add when I think of stuff.
RP Example: Right here!

Description: The Free State of Luna is the birthchild of scientists, philosophers and spiritualists working with anti-government types who believe that Earth has no right to dictate what those who live on Luna do with their lives. Believing Luna, and by extension, all of space to be the property of those who live or were born in it (called "Spacenoids"), the Free State looks down on the "Earthnoids" who think they can tell them what to do. Because Earthnoids couldn't do it right in the 250,000+ years they've been living on the pale blue dot, there is no reason life on Luna would be much better under Earthen rule. The Free State feels that they don't even care about Luna; they only want her resources, and to see who wins the race to militarise her the way they almost militarised space. Self-determination, free will, and ultimate sovereignty of the individual and collective Spacenoids is the Free State's aim, and they want no part in handing over resources they could use to the greedy Earthnoids who will only continue their planet-decaying wars until Earth literally falls apart.

In addition, the Free State is pseudo-racist, in that they believe Spacenoids are humanity's next step in evolution. Those who call Luna their home are a new type of human; a Spacenoid. Those still bound by Earth's constraints don't have the stuff necessary to evolve, and thus would likely ruin Lunar society with their grounded, earthbound perspective. This includes any Lunar collectives still loyal or promoting submission to the Earth government. Perhaps the most agreeable view they have is that of libertarianism; where the government should be small as possible, and protect the life, liberty and property of its people. Religion has no place in the state, and there is strong separation of state and church. Those who still believe in mythical sky parents and push that ideology are also people who would not get along with the Free State.

I think that number is a little unrealistic for a group of people who are... well... pretty insane, if I'm being honest. Other than that, it seems alright. By the way, just about every view of your group folds into the views of the Separatists, just saying.

Also, although I told you this via telegram, Cristo, it's not your job to be co-OP, alright?

Anyway, I'll fix the roster tomorrow, I woke up at 4 AM, so I'm pretty tired.

Well, you're the GM and you're pretty creative, so I'm interested in your criticisms. A couple questions!

1) What number do you mean? I have no context to go off of.

2) I didn't really give all the factions a deep look, only a passing glance. On one hand, you said the FS and Separatists are similar, but before that said my faction is pretty insane. Well, their extremism would likely spill into the Separatists, which is why I chose to make them their own faction.

2.5) Since you and I both have real-life libertarian views which spilled into our apps, I can definitely see THAT part of what you said -- our groups being similar. The thing is, if I go Separatists, my characters would have to conform to your faction since it's YOUR faction. I couldn't really go all-out with creativity which is what I need in an RP, creative freedom. But I think they are as different as they are similar. I would hate to post, only to have you say, "Um, the Separatists wouldn't do that!" and require me to edit.

TL; DR: I created insane separatists because the sane ones would require me to do things differently with my character, and would limit what I can do in general. But I'm more than happy to discuss this further if that's a better option, since you didn't come at me sideways. Thanks again for the kind, soft approach! You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, after all.

1. Sorry, I meant your number of followers, it would probably be more around 5 or 6 to 8.

Anyway, if you'd prefer your own faction, no pressure, go right ahead. Still, if it's just your one character you're concerned with, you could easily go independent.

Then I'll start with 7. That's a nice compromise. Buuut, don't forget, there have been entire populations with insane idealists (though the latter was more misunderstood than insane). Not trying to control your RP, of course. Just offering a second perspective.

That's all it is. Being able to see what the character development/angles I want to go with are available to me. I'm sure you wouldn't want me making the Separatists as...erm...devoted as the FS. That's the only reason I'm making my own faction.

Name: Maxphe Kerman
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Backstory/Biography:
Born on September 3rd, 1992, Maxphe Kerman was raised in a downtown London flat as an only child. His mother died when he was three from heavy metal poisoning when a large glass bottle of mercury fell of a shelf and landed on a project she was working on that involved melting titanium. The mercury boiled away almost instantly, expsing her to a lethal amount of mercury fumes. Without his mother to provide most of the money, Maxphe and his Dad's wealth went from upper class to lower middle class, luckily, that year, Blorbs introduced a bill that would make it much easier to pay for rent in high cost cities so that his dad didn't have to lose his job. As a kid, Max had always been very interested in space, but specifically the idea of living there, permanently. He didn't want to go to Jupiter or Pluto or anywhere else, he wanted to live in space.
Maxphe attended new, well funded STEM school for primary and secondary education, running with fantastic grades all around, then graduating with a PHD in Biology (Including Microbiology) and minored in Aerospace Engineering from the Yale after immigrating to the US, with his Thesis Study being about the ramifications of Algae as a compact food source and oxygen recycler. Once he graduated University, Maxphe began to pursue a career in NASA. He initially started out being a basic research engineer, working on the basic, tedius tasks in R&D that was below the higher level researchers and engineers. After less than a year, however, he began to climb the ranks, initially working with heating, then adding on oxygen, and, after a mere four, he had made his way up to the Director of Life Support Research and Development for NASA. Maxphe had lived alone for most of his adult life, with the exception being the last two years of University when he began to get worried about his student loans, and two years after that due to difficulty paying off said loans.
As far as personality goes, Maxphe was generally very introverted, with the one exception being the demonstration of his own intelligence. He has a very large ego about how smart he is, and especially because he is introverted everywhere else, many think of Maxphe as being very self absorbed and a smart-ass. While the latter is, actually, relatively true, Maxphe is very humble in almost all areas outside of that. He recognizes that he is bad at pretty much everything outside of his intelligence, however this goes unnoticed by others due to his tendency to work alone and spend lots of time just with himself. However, Maxphe is not totally opposed to all human interaction whatsoever. If you become his friend, which is quite difficult as he usually never has more than three at a time, but with them, he switches out of introvertedness, and becomes a nice, hilarious, and great person, the problem is that there are very few people who cross this boundary.
Qualifications: He has been selected due to his experience in life support research, position in NASA, PHD in Biology, and minor in Aerospace Engineering.
Appearance: White, with very light, slightly red skin, medium light brown hair and extremely dark brown eyes. He is 1.8 meters tall (5'11") and stocky, wearing thick, large eyeglasses. Maxphe is never seen without his sterling silver Blorbian Space Program watch.
Faction: Apollo Independance Coalition
Role: Cheif Life Support Engineer, and will be a member, but nothing more, of the Lunar Council
Motivation: Create an advanced algae farm that recycles oxygen and provides food extremely efficiently
Other Information: While I do claim to produce food, the algae farms would not be able to provide food support for all 50 members, even though it is still significantly more efficient than, say, wheat, and anyways, I doubt anybody wants to eat nothing but algae crackers. However, the algae farm will be able to provide all of the oxygen recycling needed, and are significantly better at doing so than trees and other plants, and can even be used to produce fuel! (Note: This fuel requires oxygen to burn), image of one such algae farm below

Name: Diego Salazar
Gender: Male
Age: 42
Backstory/Biography: Hailing from an upper-middle class family in Barcelona, Diego Salazar joined the Catholic Workers' Movement, as he started his Bachelor of Science. A prominent Unionist from his youth onwards, and an outspoken Catalan independentist throughout his university life, he quickly became a crucial participant in local union politics, helping to coordinate activism in Barcelona during the latter half of his Bachelor's. As a member of the Catholic Workers' Movement, he was also a prominent member of religious life, in which he gained the recognition of his diocese priest, who helped to secure connections for him with his counterpart in Paris. Diego would pursue a Masters of Arts and Cultural Management in Paris, seeking to make use of the opportunity to work with the European Space Agency, researching the potential socio-economic impact of extraterrestrial life. His thesis on extraterrestrial cultural industries was well-received, and he was offered a position at his university's library, as an administrator and outreach officer to promote academic relationships with the broader Parisian community.

He quickly worked through an Ed. D. (in professional and technical education), pursuing a role with the European Space Agency as an academic liason and outreach officer for their media department. In this role, he served to assist in training new management staff at the ESA, becoming a popular web presence through his space-in-pop-culture vlog and blog. When work began on forming a Luna colony, he was asked to work towards participating in the colony as an archivist, and as a media officer. Due to a lack of post-graduate science qualifications, he chose to work towards a Doctorate in materials conservation, becoming one of the first in the world to specialize in the restoration and conservation of materials created and stored in an extraterrestrial environment. Despite his focus on cultural materials, he was indirectly responsible for a number of minor contributions to the Lunar mission directly, by spending an early portion of his doctorate with engineers in working to harden mission-critical components against solar radiation.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (Library and Information Science), Masters of Arts (Arts and Cultural Management), Ed.D., PhD (Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage)
Appearance:
Image

Faction: None
Role: Luna-Earth Library & Archives Director, Luna Chief Media and Culture Officer
Motivation: Salazar is dedicated to the ideal of remembering human history. His goal on Luna is to make sure that, where-ever modern and future people may have questions regarding the birth of a humanity no longer bound to Earth, there will be answers for the curious. He wishes to record everything he can of this new colony - whether it is the people who make it up, or their achievements.

Alright, for those unaware, IC will be created tomorrow. Since the number of colonists has been increased, every faction accepted before this post can request to change their faction numbers, provided the new number is less than double the original.

Backstory/Biography: Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany in 1995, young Sigmund was always exceptionally bright - and privileged. His father was an influential German SDP politician, first in the Hamburg Parliament then in the German Bundestag. From his father, he earned his skill and passion as an up and coming politician, who perhaps may have had a promising career ahead of him had he not chosen to use his exceptional mind to focus on biology and medicine. He quickly went through higher education and became a doctor when he was 22 years old and a certified surgeon at 27, a remarkable feat by any standards. When the Lunar Colony mission was announced, his father pulled strings to get young Sigmund into that colony - after all, with Germany having one of the strongest economies at that point and being a benefactor of the mission, it was only fitting that a German from a prominent political family be chosen to perform a great duty for Earth. The prodigious Sigmund humbly accepted the honor that was bestowed upon him, with the promise to his father that he would bring honor to their family and that he would ensure that Lunar Colony and Earth would remain in a close embrace (Sorry if this paragraph is a bit shoddy, its been a while since I last posted in NS).

Maxphe attended new, well funded STEM school for primary and secondary education, running with fantastic grades all around, then graduating with a PHD in Biology (Including Microbiology) and minored in Aerospace Engineering from the high brow New Kerman University H.S.P, with his Thesis Study being about the ramifications of Algae as a compact food source and oxygen recycler. Once he graduated University, Maxphe began to pursue a career in the Blorbian Space Program. He initially started out being a basic research engineer, working on the basic, tedius tasks in R&D that was below the higher level researchers and engineers. After less than a year, however, he began to climb the ranks, initially working with heating, then adding on oxygen, and, after a mere four, he had made his way up to the Director of Life Support Research and Development for the Blorbian Space Program.
Qualifications: He has been selected due to his experience in life support research, position in the Blorbian Space Program, PHD in Biology, and minor in Aerospace Engineering.

RP Example: Since this is a space RP, I will link some space or space related RPs I have done. https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopi ... 5&t=356208, viewtopic.php?f=4&t=366715, viewtopic.php?t=318482&p=22506800

You cannot be from a fictional country, sorry. If you change that, it's otherwise fine.

The Grim Reaper wrote:Name: Diego Salazar

Appearance:
Faction: None
Role: Luna-Earth Library & Archives Director, Luna Chief Media and Culture Officer
Motivation: Salazar is dedicated to the ideal of remembering human history. His goal on Luna is to make sure that, where-ever modern and future people may have questions regarding the birth of a humanity no longer bound to Earth, there will be answers for the curious. He wishes to record everything he can of this new colony - whether it is the people who make it up, or their achievements.

Alright, I was unaware fictional nations couldn't be used and I have updated my application.

Only if you want to, since the number of colonists has increased to 100.

Ah, I see. Let's say the Sons claim 16 members then, since they are a fairly inclusive organization.

Now, I like diversified political parties as much as the next guy, but at this point I feel that the fact that 6/7 of all of the factions are one-player parties, and to some extent I feel like there are too many parties for the small number of people we have, and I worry that we will eventually get 30 factions each with one, or maybe two if your lucky, real members, and the party is really just that one person plus manufactured votes. And again, I am not claiming that we should have two faactions and no NPCs whatsoever, I am just saying that maybe limit how many more factions can be created, or possibly merge some that are too similar to count as seperate.

Though I agree with you to an extent, I'm not going to force anyone to merge political parties. However, I will attempt to find a solution. Could you list the political parties that you think are too similar?
