The Directorate Reveals New Assault Rifle

The M-12 Modular Combat Rifle (MCR)



Subrosa - Transnapastain Today, the Directorate Defense Force announced that trials had been completed, and a new, standard issue rifle has been selected for service in all Directorate nations. All members of the Directorate alliance use the M-12 Modular Combat Rifle (MCR) as their standard infantry weapon. The weapon is completely modular in design, allowing our the ability for rapid reconfiguration in the field. The MCR is issued to all units in the Directorate Defense Force, as well as the Transnapastaini military. Each rifle is capable of perform all 4 roles, those being short carbine, standard length assault rifle, SDMR (Squad-Designated Marksman Rifle), or LMG (Light Machine Gun), by replacing key parts of the rifle with the appropriate device, such as a heavier barrel, shorter barrel, or shorter stock. All parts are deigned to be “hot-swappable” in the field.

The MCR is made from high-strength, super-slick polymers. These polymers are lighter, and more durable, and, due to their super-slick interior, aid in self-lubrication. All surface areas of the rifle are textured to allow solider a firm grip. All internal metal parts are cryo-treated to improve their durability in combat. All rifles are equipped with a built-in holographic sight, which contains a laser range-finder. The sights are powered by 5-year lithium batteries. The sight is detachable, and the universal rail system allows for attachment of an Advanced Optical Combat Gunsight (ACOG) device, variable power scopes, night-vision devices, forward looking thermal devices, or, in the case that optics are unavailable, flip-up iron sights.

The MCR supports a wide variety of under-barrel attachments, such as the M104 40mm grenade launcher, M145 12ga shotgun attachment, fore grips, or flashlights. The rifle is capable of being fitted with a suppresser.

The standard Directorate rifle is chambered in the powerful 6.8mm SPC round, giving our solider unrivaled firepower in close to medium range engagements. The M12 MCR SDMR is chambered in the more powerful 7.62x51 (.308) allowing our soldiers to “reach out and touch” targets at greater range.

While not in wide-spread use in Transnapastain, all M-12 MCR’s produced are able to link with the BCS (battlefield control system) in use by the Directorate Defense Force. The link is established when a communications card, about the size of a standard XD digital media card, is inserted into the receiving slot on the rifle. The presence of the card has no effect on the firing mechanism of the rifle. Linked to the BCS, Transnapastaini and Directorate forces have unrivaled capability in combat. Currently, the BCS is only in use by the national army in Kaukolastan, creator and operator of the BCS, elite units within Transnapastain, and all units operating in the Directorate Defense Force.

OOC: Just getting this established. The BCS is not, and will not, be described in detail here, but its operated by Kaukolastan and, as its inventor, he has the right and privilege to do the write up on it. It will not be used in RP until the write up is complete. Yeah, I know the chart has XM8 on it, and any gun lovers reading this will know that M12 MCR is heavily influenced by the first run prototypes of the XM8, before it was reduced to being non-modular, and then ultimately scrapped. I don't have the time, or ability, to photoshop or draw the rifle as it appears, so the pictures shown here are close enough. The rifle, in appearance, is nearly identical to the XM8. The name was changed to represent the changes made to it by our nations, and to distance ourselves from any real-world weapon systems. Questions TG’d to me or Kaukolastan. Or posted here, if the OP doesn’t care.

Durability: Fair It will jam if not cleaned every one in a while it will over heat if you exsessively shoot it. It needs to have a cover over the barrel if your intentions are to get it wet.

Durablity: good it never over heats and is water-proof but it jams occasionaly.

Ehhh...Some technical mumbo-jumbo about it being a superheated gas mined from a gas giant planet that allows for a short, cohesive beam of plasma and light together which directly cooks the target with a super-rapid heating effect.

Yeah, it's about as technologically sound as anything Scotty would come up with.

Accurate according to tabletop info books from the starwars universe. Could have been changed, and lucasarts views them as about as far from Canon as you can get...But yeah. It's why they're called 'blasters' and not 'lasers'

Ion engines are real but they are completly different from the ones Star Wars. They accelerate slowly as they generate little thrust.
