Subject: ATTN Iiro Turzusii / Delilah Ticobo (World Cup 71 Madness)
Good evening,
The Department of Computer Science at Universidad de Santander and The Department of Sports Psychology at Universidad de Santander are submitting their joint prediction for the World Cup 71 Madness event. We have made our prediction using a special algorithm using two factors we have deemed important, the skill of the team and history of mental fortitude in high pressure situations of said team. We call the algorithm the Multiversialis. Below are the predictions mentioned along with some commentary.
Turori Regional - North
1 Osarius v 16 Vermark
After one thousand simulations made by the Multiversialis, Osarius has been declared the winner by winning 746 simulated matches thanks to their superior skill rank and mental fortitude rank.
8 Mizuyuki v 9 Yttribia
This was a close one as Mizuyuki barely edged out Yttribia with Mizyuki winning 392 matches compared to Yttribia's 387. The winning edge seems to be Mizuyuki's slightly better mental fortitude skill. It seems the last WC qualifier second round collapse by Yttribia really hurt their rank and might've influenced the Multiversialis in choosing Mizuyuki.
5 Farfadillis v 12 T.R Barangay
Farfadillis moves on with Farfadillis winning 405 out of 1000 matches. Due to the Farfs being highly unpredictable the Multiversialis had to do 3 sets of 1,000 predictions due to the computer running the algorithm crashing multiple times much to the horror of our scientists.
4 HopNation v 13 Gloriax
We were quite shocked when we read out the report. The Multiversalis predicted a upset in the form of Gloriax beating out HopNation in a close set of matches with the victor winning 320 matches and HopNation winning only 301. It seems the mental fortitude rank of Gloriax carried more weight than it's skill rank. And it makes sense too, after HopNation, who had an amazing MFR had a massive drop following its elimination in this year's qualifiers.
6 TRK Quebec v 11 Darmen
TRK Quebec advances to the next round with a easy victory of 614 wins. It did surprise us that they won more matches due to their similar skill rank but the mental fortitude seems to have weighted more in the Multiversalis prediction.
3 Saintland v 14 Maklohi Vai
Another upset and it is thanks to the MFR. Saintland has had a miserable qualification campaign this WC and it was heavily weighted in this calculation with Maklohi Vai (which has had a surprisingly good campaign) having 285 victories compared to Saintland's 223.
7 San Jose Guayabal v 10 Bears Armed
San Jose Guayabal barely beats out Bears Armed with San Jose Guayabal winning 369 matches compared to Bears Armed 349. It seems SJG had the edge in rank but the similar MFR might've been a significant influence in the selection, especially with Bears Armed struggle with higher ranked opponents and SJG's problem with dispatching easier rivals.
2 Ko-oren v 15 Mangolana
Ko-oren beats out Mangolana with its combined superior skill rank and MFR. Ko-oren got 716 victories. Mangolana has had a subpar campaign while Ko-oren was the first to directly qualify to the finals.
1 Osarius v 8 Mizuyuki
Osarius once again sweeps another team to advance to the Sweet 16. Their 617 victories blows out Mizuyuki out of the water. Mizuyuki has had a history of losing out to bigger teams in the big stage and it seems the Multiversalis has recognized that.
5 Farfadillis v 13 Gloriax
We're not going to lie here, we are actually glad the Farfs got eliminated. Once again their unparalleled unpredictability has causes many headaches for the scientists running the Multiversalis program on the university's computers with many them crashing before they can finish the algorithm. From what data we could recover it seems Gloriax barely won with 284 wins compared to Farfadillis's 280. The rest, oddly enough, were draws that ended 4-4 and higher with the highest scoring draw being 15-15.
6 TRK Quebec v 14 Maklohi Vai
TRK Quebec sweeps Maklohi Vai as the Quebecois advance to the Sweet 16. Quebec had a total of 451 victories compared to Maklohi Vai's 201. The rank of the two sides was very wide in difference as well as the MFR.
7 San Jose Guayabal v 2 Ko-oren
Ko-oren advances to the next round with a close victory over contenders SJG with 320 victories to San Jose's 300. Ko-oren's superior skill rank seems to have given them the edge.
1 Osarius v 13 Gloriax
Gloriax's Cinderella run ends in the Sweet 16 with Osarius's better MFR and skill rank. Gloriax was a contender with 329 victories but Osarius pulled away with 420 victories. It's worrisome campaign this WC is starting to affect Osarius MFR and might influence Osarius in future matches.
6 TRK Quebec v 2 Ko-oren
A unlikely win for TRK Quebec as they advance to Elite 8 by beating Ko-oren with 313 victories to Ko-oren 299. The Multiversalis hinted that Ko-oren's history of failing to perform in the crucial stages as a factor in calculating Ko-oren's chances in beating Quebec in the simulation.
1 Osarius - 6 TRK Quebec
Osarius wins the region against a tough Quebecois side and wins a ticket to the Final 4. Osarius's high (yet slowly declining) MFR rank gave the final edge with Osarius winning 487 matches compared to Quebec's 460.
Turori Regional - East
1 Polar Islandstates v 16 Pridnestrovia
Polar Islandstates easily sets aside 16 seeded Pridnestoriva with 607 victories to Pridnestrovia's 210. Polar Islandstates's superior rank and MFR easily brushes away the weaker opponent.
8 Barunia v 9 Chiata
Chiata barely edges Barunia in a close series of simulations with Chiata beating out The Suns 309 matches to Barunia's 302. Chiata's successful (yet a bit nervy) campaign seems to have influenced its MFR enough to tip the scales Chiata's favour.
5 Sargossa v 13 Kalumba
Kalumba really pushed Sargossa to the edge with Kalumba's low skill being compensated with its high MFR. Sargossa nonetheless pulls away with 400 victories to Kalumba's 391.
6 Blouman Empire v 11 Semarland
Blouman pulls away against Semarland with 418 victories to the Sem's 398 victories. Blouman's superior rank seemed to influence Multiversalis's decision.
3 Valanora v 14 Ceni
Valanora's overall loss came as a surprise to most of the scientists monitoring the results but further research in Multiversialis's decision revealed that the recent set of results by Valanora in their 71 qualification campaign in which they have been massively underperforming greatly affected MFR and made Ceni which has been having a strong WCQ campaign have the edge with 408 victories to 405.
7 Super-Llamaland v 10 Cosumar
Cosumar edges out Super-Llamaland thanks to their higher MFR and the fact Cosumar was just as good skill wise as The Llamas. The overall score was 309 to 217 with Cosumar having the win of course. The scientists observing Multiversialis realized that Cosumar's solid MFR is a result of a strong campaign in the first half of qualification.
2 Buyan v 15 The Hakifao Isles
Buyan sweeps aside The Hakifao Isles with 420 victories to Hakifao's 273. Buyan is all around a better team than Hakifao and it showed with the amount of victories thanks to their superior skill rank and their MFR.
