First Official Season - yay!

This season was the first season, and it came with many upsets. Not much was expected of Pawnee City, but since no one had seen them play before, they didn't really know what to expect about the team. However, Pawnee City bolted to the top, and managed to stay there for most of the season, with the exception of matchdays 25-27. They barely held the top spot for the last couple games. Pescadero FC had low expectations also, but behind the attacking force of Leo Cooper, Rafael Mendez and Kelvin Poole prevailed over many teams, and saved quite a few games from definite losses. Cahokia Wanderers, based in the capital of Masseau, were expected to come of the league winners. And while they didn't do that, they did manage to fight their way into the top 4 after defeating Pawnee City 3-1. Kennard AC just barely sneaked in the top 4 after Atwater had an inevitable demise and had to play top-caliber teams, dropping from 4th place to eighth.

There are two titles in the league. One is the regular season title, where you win the regular season. You don't win the league, however, just the bid to the champions' cup and a trophy is what you are awarded. To win the league, you must qualify to compete in the National Cup. You can qualify for the National Cup by placing in the top 4 of the Division. Then you play in a standard 4-team bracket to win. Games are played in Millbourne, Masseau.

End of NSL regular season

The Globus National Soccer League regular season has come to a close. The teams advancing to the playoffs. from the east are the Carrolwood Cosmos, Castle Hills Knights, Asherton Bombers and the Iota Infernos. From the west, the Rochelle Rockets, Lowell Pelicans, Cherryville Cobras and the Rexburg Rhinos. Newcomers to the playoffs are Castle Hills and Rexburg. The league has been operating for 14 years founded in 2000. In that time, the Rochelle Rockets have gone to the playoffs 11 consecutive years and have won 4 championship titles and 6 conference finals since 2003. Last year, the Rockets made it to the finals and had high prospects on winning, but suffered a devastating loss to the Asherton Bombers. This year they came back to avenge themselves, winning 13 games and losing only 3. Fans and sports experts agree that the Rockets have a high chance of taking the cup this year as their commitment and dedication is monumental. In the east conference, fans and experts are divided when it comes to which team will advance to the finals. Each team is very evenly matched, with only a 6 point difference between first place and fourth place compared to a 17 point difference in the west conference.

The playoffs are split into two brackets, for each conference. For quarter-finals, the top 2 ranks are pitted together, and the lower 2 ranks are pitted together. A series consists of a home game and an away game. The team with the most points scored overall advances to the semi-finals. The same process goes for the semi-finals and the finals. The finalist is awarded the Frank M. Mosley Cup.

The top seven cities are the same as last time; only Attereg GU displacing their derby rivals Atteregav Numa make for a switchover in the UICA qualifiers. So in that sense, it's all same old, same old for little non-old us, who are but an unimportant association and certainly don't have clubs that were around back in the day, or anything like that.

Season 3

With the addition of eight more teams bringing the SchiavOne to a respectable ten teams, the SchiavOne was lining up to be a much more competitive league in its third season. Despite the eight new additions, double double winners Monarchs were favourites to take a third title, followed by New Kingsbury rivals Yellow Stars. Of the newcomers, big-spending 46ers were seen as the biggest threat, signing up talent from around the multiverse. Garundia Kickball - consisting of the Garundia Kickball team - were also thought of as a team with potential, but only playing games would reveal the true strength of the teams.

The big game on the opening day of the season saw the established Yellow Stars against the big-money 46ers. And despite goals from two World Cup winning strikers in Karsten Eiger and Lorccan Cotterill, Schiavonia's own Alexa Leau and Charlotte Chester (twice) denied the old new boys a first victory. At least, they thought it was going to be the big game of the day. However, champions Monarchs had other ideas, by conceding four on the opening day to the Cafundélese-Schiavone community's team Petardos S/A Craw, but still came out on top by scoring six themselves. But the next week, Petardos proved that this performance was more than just a flash in the pan, beating Yellow Stars 1-0.

After the early shock, the establishment settled in, without dropping any more points until the first match between the top two teams came around on matchday nine, and the game ended in an action packed two-all draw. Benny Sanderson gave Monarchs the lead, but Yellow Stars fought back - goals from Emma Trevor and Chester edged them ahead, but Aimee Bell tucked away a late winner for the champions. The win kept Monarchs three points clear of Yellow Stars, with a seven point gap between the top two and the next three. A 3-1 win for Garundia Kickball at Petardos saw them draw level with their opponents and 46ers - the league title already appearing like a distant dream for any of the newcomers, unable to seperate themselves. But after a good initial start, the international allstars of 46ers were now in the middle of a run of just two wins in twelve - the team was struggling to blend together well, and the run saw them in sixth, seven points behind the unfancied Valae Volcanoes.

By the time matchday eighteen came around, the top two had won another eight games each in a row. It meant that they went into the game in the same situation as they did their first meeting. But this time, while Leau and Chester scored again for Yellow Stars, Monarchs couldn't break down their opponents' defence, and so the two drew level on points. Behind them, there was a thirteen point gap back to surprise outfit Petardos, with star creator Tarmey setting up young Antonio Park for a winner against Garundia, who had found themselves on a three match losing run, and now just three point ahead of 46ers and Valae Volcanoes, who were expected to be struggling in the bottom three pre-season. At the bottom, it was becoming clear that allowing the Schiavone cricket team a place in the league was proving to be a mistake, with the team scoring just two points in eighteen games.

The Schiavone season takes a break after the half way point for the rainy season, and both of the title contenders came back struggling - Monarchs only drawing 1-1 at home to Petardos, with Yellow Stars losing to Markus Gallagher's late winner, the Brenecia striker scoring what was proving to be a rare goal.

One of the biggest shocks of the season came on Matchday 24, when Monarchs could not see off lowly Craw Hawks. Hawks, a team made up of workers in Craw's tourism industry, had had a poor, inconsistent season to this point, finding themselves a deserved ninth out of the ten team league. But the part-timers, backed up by local goalkeeper Andreas Portas, held on for a shock result. It meant that Yellow Stars were a point clear for the first time this season, edging past strugglers Redskins 1-0.

The third meeting of the top two saw Yellow Stars start the game off in the same position - one point ahead - and they were eager to push on, getting 2-0 up within the first nine minutes - Chester and Rebecca Sallad putting them ahead. Monarchs battled back, and Bell pulled one back, but the defence held firm again, sending them four points clear and getting one hand on their first SchiavOne title.

If Monarchs' result against Hawks was a surprise, then Matchday 32 saw a cataclysmic shock! With Yellow Stars unbeaten in thirteen, the winless Schiavone Cricket Team rocked up at The Field for an expected battering that never came. Indeed, the cricketers went ahead through a Victor Lewis breakaway goal, then saw the title challengers miss a host of chances before equalising through Bjørn-Morten Tomasson late in the day. Still, the cricketers held on for only their fourth point of the season. And they still managed to extend their lead, as Monarchs slipped up at 46ers, the allstars finally threatening to click by winning 5-2, a late hat trick for substitute Karsten Eiger seeing them off. With just four games to go, Yellow Stars were five points clear at the top, while 46ers were the same distance from international competition.

Matchday 35 finally saw Yellow Stars clinch the title, a 1-0 win at Valae Volcanoes, sealed with another Chester goal, seeing them over the line. At the same point, 46ers edged past Garundia, edging Redskins 1-0 with a John Keane goal while Garundia lost 4-1 at a Monarchs team desperately trying to stay in the title race.

But it was not to be, and Yellow Stars decided to rub salt into the wound of the team that returned from a defecit of eigteen points last season - when they were their only opponents, week after week - by winning 3-1 in the last game of the season, extending the gap to eight points and sealing the win with a goal from captain Tony Cueto in injury time, causing celebration amongst their fans at The Field. Meanwhile, 46ers sealed a Globe Cup place with a 3-0 win over a Volcanoes side who had faded to eighth position in the second half of the season after threatening the UICA places in the first half. It meant that Garundia's 1-0 win over already-qualified Petardos was in vain, and they finished fifth, just a point behind.

Eastfield Lodge (EFL) Final Site Bids

TQCC: Parliament Stadium (capacity: 80,000)
The second largest stadium in Eastfield Lodge, behind the Memorial Stadium in New Lodger City, it was built in the centre of Lodgertia, the capital of Eastfield Lodge, and the Imperial Commonwealth. It was named due to the fact that the Parliament is based just a few hundred metres down the road; in fact, the original stadium was actually joined to the Parliament building, as an area where MPs could watch or even engage in sport with the public, as well as being a designated protest site. However, with Lodgertia becoming more built up, it was decided that the stadium needed to built up as well. It is home to Lodgertia United and Lodgertia City alongside being temporary hosts of RGS Athletic and VLC FC, and in the past has hosted several international matches, including the final of SBCC 27 and a group in both stages of Market Cup 4.

Globe Cup: Tavernia Stadium (capacity: 65,921)
The largest stadium in Westmeadow Tavern, based in its capital Tavernia, and one of the Imperial Commonwealth's largest outside of Eastfield Lodge, Tavernia Stadium was only converted relatively recently for football; it was initially an open air concert stadium, a purpose which is still served today (although the stadium now has a retractable roof). It was since turned into an athletics stadium, and hosts biennially the Imperial Commonwealth Athletics Championships (Mount Salt's Olympic Park hosts the other legs), and then converted to multi-use, including football. It has prior international experience, also being one of the stadiums chosen for hosting Market Cup 4.

Player awards

Best forward: Yrijanek [Lamakansu] Ti of Dinamo Leninkali was a threat for each of the goalkeepers of the H1SR. The young striker of the sumumusumese club was able to put 39 balls into the nets of the opposing goalies.

Best goalie: Sijaren Tamitami [Kesuvan'tes] of Karela Lines was of course assisted by the formidable defense of the Karela, but he had his own glory as well: No one was able to score a penalty against the huge goalie (who at almost 1.90m towers over most rejistanis).

Best defender: Seani I Sea (who prefers the Zannoo transliteration of his name: Zeyani I Zeya) of Kerita Divensi has been a strong asset to the Kerita team. The fast, technically skilled and very reliable I Sea'he was the best individual defensive talent in the H1SR.

Best midfielder: Inxiry Sikane [Sikane'tes] from Sikane Sekhika. Not only because the midfielder is the only one who not only carries the city of his team as a regionym but also as a last name (the Sikane family was named after the city, not the other way around), but also because the fast, technically skilled and very smart Sikanian was an immense asset for the Sikane.

Best coach: Kansilu Kemit [Ieteavaru'tes] of Kalisimu Xalki was brought in from the youth team when the finances were most shaky. He came into the team when it was H3SR and sucked. Now, the team is in the H1SR and escaped the expected relegation by a wide margin. Turning an expected elimination candidate into a mid-level contender can be at least in part ascribed to the knowledge and skills [and antics] of Kemit'he.

Best goal: on the 34th matchday, Aetaila Seli played in Sikane Sekhika. It was David against Goliath's bigger, stronger and meaner brother. Jiten Iaeteauna [Huiriaumu'tes] brought the Aetaila ahead in only 13 seconds. It was one of the fastest goals ever in the H1SR.

Allanean League

To get an idea just how much the Allanean league is in the hands of migrants, just consider the fact that the official website offers 4 languages: Rejistanian, Majukaji, Kireshi and Seleken. Though the Hashi language version is being developped.

Some specialities of the Allanean league:
* While most leagues have 3 points for a goal, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss and 0 points for a forfeit, the H1SA has 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a loss and 0 points for a forfeit. This is to prevent weaker teams to forfeit games were they would be chanceless.
* Tiebreakers are slightly different than in most leagues: If the amount of points and the goal difference is alike, the head to head results and head-to-head away goals are considered without regarding the amount of goals for.

Remarkable matches:
Matchday 3: Heston-Hakelenju Karela 3–2 Telmovila~e Divensi: New Thermopilae's Divensi thought they were going to win this match when they were leading against Heston-Hakelenju. In the last 20 minutes however, the Karela scored 3 goals and earned the 4 points.

Matchday 6: Alhanea Ada 1–8 Iknelijen: Alhanea Ada is the team with the most native Allanean players, located in Ngmweni's Ngmanaki. And a typical member of the H1.5SA, that is a yoyo team. Up to the 6th matchday, they thought that there was a chance of escaping relegation. Then they hosted the match against the Liberty City Iknelians (Iknelijen is of cource named after the Sikenian club Iknelijen, which is named after a Kaze Progressan team called Capitolians). After the match, the fate of Ada was sealed.

Matchday 22: Nime Lisle Xkora 7–3 Linux Litiku The Liberty City Freedom Flag (yes, this is what Linux Litiku means, it seemed the founders tried to make the most stereotypically Allanean team name and translated it then into rejistanian) with their weak defense met one of the most takilan [offensive minded] teams. What happened was a goalfest which Allanea had not yet seen. The match beat the previous joint league record for the most goals in one match.

Matchday 24: Divensi Kaletri 0–0 Iknelijen: Many matches in the H1SA are more of an action film. Liberty City derby Divensi vs Iknelijen in comparison was a psychological thriller. The Karela was strong in that one. It was a battle betwen counter-attacking teams and every second, the scoreline could have changed. The fact that the scoreline remained at 0:0 in the end was an advantage for Divensi as the reached 2 points makes it safer in its top posiiton in the league table.

Individual awards

Best striker: Divensi Kaletri's striker Yen Landu had a difficult job. The Invincible Defense (or Blessed Defense) produced few chances compared to other teams. This means that the Divensi would be only a mid-table team without a good attack. It's a good thing that they had the Rejistania-born Yen (pronounced vaguely like Ay-en) on their team. The tiny, ambidextrous, and very clear-minded player scored 32 goals for Divensi.

Best goalkeeper: Kyatu Jienu of Tahiakan'ny Minokired did not have the luxury of playing behind the best defenders in Allanea, he still had to fish the ball out of the net quite seldomly, made heroic saves and became a fan favorite. "Ky-a-tu / Ji-e-nu / mi-ki-'ut / 'le-hi-ju!"

Best defender: Iknelijen's kireshi left back Jekovu Miranda was fast like an cheetah, graceful like an Inti flower, present like a thought, and at least according to some mad like a hatter. The heavily tattooed player was known not only for being incredibly frustrating for strikers but also for being on the political fringe in just about every issue.

Best midfielder: Nime-Lisle Xkora's midfielder Asilekigara was the best Allanean player. The Hashi midfielder who played for Xkora for the first season after transferring from the Nime Lisletim amateur team SAI Isshi Iraigi. He was a very creative and athletic player and quickly became the captain of the Xkora.

The Florganian Football Federation was on a mission... to revive the Standard League from it's cycle of absence over financial troubles in the league office... The quality of football had been rising at the domestic level of the BoF 55 Runner's up. The nation was catching on, attendance was rising and a few internationals had caught interest... Then, the league office announced that they had not received the funding they needed to go on with the season. Instead of rioting, as many supporters would do in a situation like this, the clubs and their supporters launched a campaign to cover the cost of the Standard League and the overwhelming support has guaranteed it's place in Florganian culture for years to come. Enough money was raised to launch a secondary league which is in the works for next season.
In the meantime the 3rd season of Standard League play, though delayed a year played out as follows...

The Fenbarric Shield, in which the previous season's League and Cup winners play each other in the opening game of the season. This season sees League champions Flippers take on Fenton Cup holders Merton Rovers.

The 6th Fenton Cup

Last year, Merton Rovers surprised everybody by beating favourites MK Killers in the final, but this year, the upsets were bigger and better. All teams from Division 4 will start in the 1st Preliminary round, and all teams from Division 3 will enter in the 2nd Preliminary Round. After a 3rd Prelim Round in which Div 3 losers participate, the 1st Round will commence. All teams from Div 2 will enter in the 2nd Round, and all teams from Div 1 will enter in the 3rd Round.

Some of this season's highlights included Chinfell Albion's 5-4 extra time win over Central Borough in the 3rd prelim round, and Arrow City's 7-1 victory over Fordham in the 1st prelim round. This year was most notable however for the extraordinary amount of 'cupsets', that saw 6 Division 1 sides, including MK Killers and Oldcastle Athletic, exit at the earliest possible point. There were an unprecedented amount of non-Div 1 sides in both the Quarter finals (4), and the Semi finals (2). In addition to that, Tilletwood became the 1st non-Div 1 side to reach the final, where they were up against Flippers, who had been National Champions for the past two seasons. Surely they couldn't pull off a victory to complete the perfect year for the underdog? Both sided were going for their 1st cup, and everyone was on tenterhooks...

A strange format, in which last year's winner (MK Killers) is not allowed to take part. The remaining nine teams in Division 1 are split into three groups, and play a match against each other. The three group winners go into a final group, where the winner is crowned champion, and does not qualify for next season's tournament.

The 7th Fenbarric Football League

The season began with Flippers looking to secure their 3rd consecutive title, but it very soon emerged that Oldcastle Athletic had rediscovered their form of yesteryear, and were looking good for the title. Their only other main contender seemed to be Borderlands, who were in a title winning position for the first time. While the final points difference between the two was not that large, an Oldcastle victory never really looked in much doubt throughout the second half of the season, and sure enough they came through to win their second league title. New Beetle and MK Killers both had a relegation scare, and newly promoted Combat FC impressed in 4th.

Globe Cup: Fenton National Sports Stadium, Fenton (capacity 120,000)
Fenton National Sports Stadium is located right at the heart of the nation's capital, and is used as the home ground for the National Football and Rugby teams, as well as the occasional Cricket match. Its capacity varies depending on which sport is being played there, but for Football it is at its maximum of 120,000. It also hosts high-profile domestic matches, such as the Fenton Cup final, and is also notable for containing its own hotel and subway station on the city's underground train network. As it is designed for hosting domestic sports finals, it has its own special 'Trophy Presentation Box', situated directly next to the Royal Box, and which can be viewed from the majority of the stadium. It is more commonly known as Fenton Stadium.

Series B Champions' Cup: City of MK Stadium, MK (capacity 35,962)
Built in the late 19th Century, the City of MK Stadium is one of the oldest in the country, and is MK City's home ground. Whilst it is not the largest stadium in the country, it does boast a considerable amount of heritage, and as it is situated in the nation's second most populous city, it is one of the most accessible. The pitch itself is also regarded as one of the best to play on throughout the domestic leagues, mainly because it has been well cared for by groundsman Nigel Redmond, who's family has looked after the pitch ever since the stadium was built. The stadium has also undergone construction work in the past few years, in order to increase legroom, and to demolish the terraces, which were banned nationwide 5 years ago.
