If you knew your history, you would know that the US didn't actually do jack-shit to win WWII. It was the Soviets who won it, and any nation in the war could be theoretically considered a "champion".

Now back to the topic at hand.

The war would not have been won by the Allied without the US.

Perhaps Soviet could have won, but then again, they would face Germany alone. Since, Britain could not launch an invasion on it's own without US support in any way, not since Dunkirk and the constant German bombings. Without US financial and military support, Britain would not have made it. And this saying, despite myself being staunchly anti-American.

Horrific event, but not really a surprise. Alabama has historically been known as being an unstable and backwards area of the world, with pathetic law enforcement and a strong sexist society. To be honest, this is quite prevalent in America. It's unfortunate that life in the country is not easy for women, and being European doesn't make you a smaller target for abuses like this.

I would personally recommend economic sanctions on America until they can punish their rapists. However, it'll take something shocking as a famous foreign woman being raped by Americans to get the government off its ass.

Honestly at this point I seriously have to ask what the hell she was doing in America in the first place. I mean it's not like she is the first person to be raped or worse out there. And don't get me wrong. I am not blaming the victim here. All I am saying is that maybe if people stopped living there the impact on their economy would put some extra leverage on their government to grow up and step out of the middle ages. As small as that chance may be.

Why do people keep going to America, again? It's not like there's much to see there. A few sports stars, a big mountain. Everything else is a mid-modern first to third world jumble of slums and several shiny buildings. Not to mention all the rape and gun violence.

But perhaps one day these countries will finally become civilised. What do you say, NSG?

Sickening and horrible? Yes.

You're clearly too full of hatred against Americans to see the REAL scandal here, so let me spell it out for you.

Criminal hires an attorney who is a childhood friend of the local judge. Judge gives his boyhood friend's client a slap on the wrist as punishment for a serious crime. Higher court overturns the sentence and remands it back to the judge. Judge spits in the face of the higher court and gives his boyhood friend's client a slightly different slap on the wrist.

The story here is NOT that America won't punish rape.

The story here is that a local judge has chosen to dispense with justice for the sake of a childhood friend and that the higher court can't bring him to heel.

Taking this, I'm going to try and explain my own point and why I made this thread to you lot in a serious way.

See how angry ASB was? This is how angry I get over and over and over again whenever India and rape get joined together as a bloody fucking joke, as a goddamn punchline. Then we get statements about "bomb India", "sanction India", "India is a shithole and barbaric" and etc. I repeatedly sit there, generally trying to ignore the leaks of stupidity from every word as this major, serious and dammed personal issue becomes inflated, mocked and shat on.

It is not correct, it is not at all fair, and it is not at all funny nor clever. It is ignorant, rage-inducing and idiotic. I would honestly like that when a rape in India is mentioned that it is debated without having to resort to stereotypes and generalisation. This is an incredibly important issue that needs discussion. But for the love of God, let's discuss it as fairly as it deserves.

And now you know how I feel whenever I see threads turn into America-bashing contests at the mere mention of the US. Yes, it sucks. Sometimes you do have to sit there and take it because giving true vent to your anger will get you warned, and no one wants that. You could have posted a reasonable response in the thread about the rape (or did you? I haven't looked back).

As for the rest of you, I'm not sure what this thread is about but it certainly isn't about who won the most wars or about how many hash-tag things we can make up.

I absolutely agree with you. America really needs to shape up it's standards, considering the danger to women in New York City versus the safety of New Delhi.

Alabama is an isolated incident. India's rape problems are endemic when it comes to lack of enforcement. Great satire though.
