VI Volleyball World Expo (Roster/RP/Results)

[Carasatoga]

It's time for the sixth edition of the Volleyball World Expo to come around! This is an international World Cup style indoor volleyball tournament. It was originally intended to be for men, but many all-female and mixed teams competed in the previous Expos. During the last Expo, the founding nation of Carasatoga was out, and other nations graciously stepped forward to take the reins resulting in the hosting of a great competition by Cassadaigua which saw Cirona dominate and take over the number one ranking in the world. For the sixth edition, the founding nation of Carasatoga will once again be hosting for the fourth time and is looking to put on a great expo. If you have any questions please go to the Discussion Thread. Also, sign-ups are still open and if you would like to compete, or to arrange friendlies, just say so in the OOC/Sign-up thread. Scorination will take place daily between 9:30 and 11:30 am EDT. RPs will be graded on a scale of 1-5 which will be added to previous bonus total. Bonuses will be reduced by half on each offday where a round of Friendly is scheduled (bonuses will count towards any scheduled Friendlies before reduced).

There will be 4 groups consisting of 7 nations made up of 1 nation from Pool 1, 1 from Pool 2 and 5 from Pool 3. After a home-and-away double round-robin, the top two from each group will advance to the Second Group Stage to take place in Carasatoga. The group winners will be placed into one pool and the group runners-up will be placed in a second. The groups will be made up of two nations from each (nations from the same group will not be placed into the same Second Group Stage group). This will also be a double round-robin and the top two from each group will advance to the Semifinals. The winners of the Second Group Stage will play the runners-up from the opposite group for the single-match Semifinals. The losers will play a single-match Consolation game to decide third place, and winners will advance to the Finals which will consist of a best-of-three series. Friendlies, if scheduled, will take place halfway through the first group stage, before the second group stage and finally after the second group stage for a total of three maximum.

Not her again. As there are less international competitions for women, her gender is under debate anyway and she is an Allround Top Athlete, she is to find in astonishing many Nationalteams of the over 2.5 Billion big country. She also makes lovely tattoos and cakes.

Tom Wilson

"Yeah, my face looks like a ball. Very funny. Racists." Wilson is born on a little, beautiful, sunny Island, a far colony of Kriegiersien and its best player. He is also the equipment manager.

Banana Longarm

He doesn't talk much. But when, it is clear what he means. "Ugh!" And he has a far reach and tremendous strength.

Defense Specialists

Julio Gonzales

An extremly fast player, the smallest and most agile of the team. He is also the cook. Spicy.

Steven Stick

"I don't look like a bad drawn comic figure!" A great player. His secret weapon is his hard service. There are only a few options. Either it's a point, a fault or some arms are broken. He is also the Busdriver.

Norbert Noname
A long time called the biggest talent of Kriegiersien ever, many injuries interfered with his carreer, after winning all National trophies possible. He thus played in other Nation States as well, in Soccer teams, Beachvolleyball and worked as hairdresser. He not only cuts the hair of the players now, he is also the Coach, Captain and Manager, translator and chief press officer.

Simeone Di Bradini VI

A clone project produced many clones of this legandary soccerplayer from Starblaydia. This one found out that you are now allowed to kick and head the ball in Volleyball. He was good enough to be taken into the squad.

VI VOLLEYBALL WORLD EXPO

Volleyball maybe now the centre of the national stage for Mapletish as the Volleyball World Expo is set to be held, the world number thirty one are drawn with the tournament hosts Carasatoga, who are 3rd in the tournament. Drawn in Group B the team will play against Carasatoga, Shadownbourne, Costa Luna, Tasraillia, Kylter Peninsulae and Lisander. This World Expo might not be at the top of the minds of the citizens for now with the semi-finals of the World Cup of Hockey on going and the World Cup 64 Qualifiers, both sports that dominates the charts of summer and winter sports. This World Expo would be in preparation for the team for its prepared entrance into the Olympics that is coming up. The team is expected to be made up of twelve players with six starts and six on the bench.

Supposedly one of the only few eligible coaches to coach the volleyball team, the current coach of the national volleyball team currently has won ten university volleyball championship titles to her name and several other volleyball titles under her name over her years of coaching, she's certainly one of those coaches that have sufficient knowledge of the game to coach the team.

A semi-professional player herself in the past, she made the cut for coaching after leading her university team to three consecutive titles and she was taken notice and invited to take up the post of the assistant coach for the national team soon after. Paired with Adella, both would be able to make the team tick and perform some miracles in the World Expo.

Standing 6'8", left back, Virginia D'laprèmidi of Costa Luna was a one girl wreaking crew. D'laprèmidi had seven digs, fourteen service aces, and three blocks in the game against Tasrailia. Despite D'laprèmidi's efforts, Costa Luna fell to Tasrailia 3 games to 1. Costa Luna's 25-23 win in the second game saw D'laprèmidi have nine service aces and four blocks. Costa Luna will host Kytler Peninsulae at the BNL Volleyball Center in Fioré City, Costa Luna's largest city. Kytler Peninsulae currently sits in sixth in the group standings losing to Shadowbourne in straight games 23-25, 19-25, and 19-25. Come out and support the Costa Lunian team tomorrow.

Who knew Volleyball was this hard?

VI VOLLEYBALL WORLD EXPO
"We're a juggernaut. Elevated to negative one, that is."

"All right, let's be honest. We are amateurish at volleyball. But you can't say we aren't trying to go somehwere." After another loss, now at the Sapatos Airlines Center at Watanabe in the hands of the Quebecóis, Leonard Smuggle couldn't be less sincere. The last time we had a volleyball tournament, it was at the Triunvirate Tournament. And boy, wasn't it limited? Either way, the roster that the coach could pick, was formed with Sunrisian talent, which means, basically, that all of the good players from that tournament (mostly foreigners from Barra e Janeiro, Andarahy and Saint Pauli), couldn't be picked.

And that basically screwed our team up. While not able to finish naturalizing the players so that our Vaporeons would look more like Vaporeons and less like Eevees. Really, why can't they look like our national team? The ones that can melt and join a huge wave to strike down the opposition, that know when it's going to rain just by how their fins are and manage to hit Ice Beans at everyone!

See, guys? A little more like this, if possible.

Either way, let's focus and remember that a team needs a crowd to perform well. So be sure to watch out for Ee- I mean, Vaporeons, as they travel to the Serbian Empire for another match at Group 1.

"Wow, I had no clue these were 100-level seats," Michaela complemented her date in her high-pitched voice as they sit down in their seats before the game. "But the arena looks weird without the Yellowcards logos."

"Well, my guess is the Yellowcards aren't playing tonight," he jokes back, "we're seeing the national team. And you said you watched NVL so I figured spending time going to the game should be worth it. "I'm a huge fan, if it isn't obvious."

"Uh, I dunno if I should tell you I usually watch it on TV. I've never been to a game before."

"Well, then this makes it even better!"

It's minutes before the starting introductions, and as they both look out on the court as the players finish their warm-ups. The size of the players catches Michaela's eye.

"Wow, they're even taller than I thought! Well, except for that one."

"And she's really good," her date replies.

The blaring music stops, and the public address announcer booms over the house speakers.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! The Lucky Businessperson Casino and Sports Complex welcome you to Volleyball Central in Downtown Pacific City, 95X, for tonight's opener of the Sixth Volleyball World Expo between West Guiana and 95X! Now, let's let the world hear the sound of a sold-out volleyball arena!"

The crowd of 24,000 roars, and the customary introductions continue.

West Guiana won the opening serve, but started the first set with a service error. 95X gained the point and possession, roaring to a 7-0 lead. West Guiana tried to get back in, pulling as close as 18-15, but never led. 95X took set 1.

The second set again featured a huge 95X lead. At 20-10, the man noticed his date seemed disengaged.

"Michaela, watch, the other team hasn't scored even a single consecutive point so far."

"I'm fine, I'm just sitting down at the moment."

Everyone watched as Lacey Sixtysecond went for the kill on the serve, while barely leaving the floor. 21-10 in favor of 95X. They'd score another 4 points and 95X led 2 sets to none.

"How come they're resetting the score now?" Michaela asks.

"Because," her date explains, "NVL plays to thirty. This is an international match, so the first four games are played to twenty-five points. If there's a fifth, it's only played to fifteen."

"That sounds confusing."

"Actually, you can tell they're nowhere as fatigued as they'd be after a 30-28 game."

Two girls sitting behind them overhear his explanation, who exclaim "wow, really?! How do you know this stuff?"

Unfazed, the man says "I follow the sport and it's idiosyncrasies," knowing good and well they're probably too young to understand what 'idiosyncratic' is.

As set three begins, the two on the date start discussing their thoughts:

"How you doing?" the man asks Michaela.

"Um, I didn't know it was this intense. I'm gonna have to stay seated."

The man tries to put his arm around her shoulder, but she tenses up away from him.

"Sorry," he says, "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"Yeah, there's just something about here that makes it seem like a bad idea."

West Guiana tried to take one last stab at it, and opened the set with a 4-0 lead. It evaporated quickly, however, and soon 95X would lead 5-4. West Guiana played a closer game and Jennifer Riverdell played some of her reserves, however there were no further lead changes and 95X went on to win 25-16, taking the 3-0 sweep in convincing fashion.

As the spectators file out and board buses and trains home (or their hotels), the two talk further.

"Y'know," Michaela starts, "this was okay but it seemed you were more interested in the game."

The man looks at her and replies, "it's easy to do. I guess I'm more into the sport."

"Or you're not interested in me."

"Don't be silly! There's certain things that just happen while watching sports."

Unconvinced by his answer, the two part for the night not long after. He calls her back the next night, where after saying hello, Michaela explains she's happy with just being friends.

"Gimmie another chance," the man tries. "We'll do something else, like take a walk through the park."

"I'll do that myself," Michaela explains, "it's good to do those on your own."

THRILLER
Andrille Velarde, El Diario Deportivo del Sangti

The Sangti Navigators had a thriller of a game against fellow debutant Schmiegelland in 5 sets. However, it ended in a loss.

Schmiegelland actually was languishing in the first set, only scoring 12 points in Set 1. However, they won two straight sets to lead 2-1. 25-18, and 25-23. But Sangti did not give up, and got the fourth set 25-23.

However, Sangti's efforts were undone with error after error from Josen Tanghal overurned a 8-5 lead into a 8-13 deficit. However, he would redeem from his errors and put up straight points to make it 14-13. The run didn't last long though as Schmiegelland put three straight points to end the game.

If it was only a 25 point set...

Sangti rests for Matchday 2 and will face Aksana.
