Welcome to the 21st edition of the World Cup of Hockey, hosted by the Equestrian States. Please feel free to begin posting your RPs and rosters here in this thread. Please direct any OOC discussion to the WCoH Discussion Thread.
Teams have been drawn into 10 groups of 6 and will play each team in their group twice, once at home, and once on the road. For the group stage, your own team’s arena(s) will be used, so participants are asked to include arena information in their rosters for the use of others.

New to Sports RPing?
First, if you’re new to the NS Sports forum, I strongly encourage you read the Guide to Sports Roleplaying.
For those of you who want me to simply get to the basics, the first thing you’ll want is a roster. A roster is a list of the names of your players and what positions they play; but if you want, you can post other information as well. This can include, but certainly isn’t limited to: line assignments, strengths and weaknesses, statistics, and performances in previous tournaments or in your own domestic leagues. Other common elements of a good roster include images and information on arena(s) your team uses, uniforms, and coaching staff.
Second, you may choose to assign your team a style modifier. A style modifier is a value between -5 and 5, which may play a role in determining the number of goals your team scores and/or concedes. A team with a higher style mod is more likely to score goals, being more aggressive, but is also more likely to concede them as well due to taking unnecessary risks. Lower style mod teams are less likely to score goals, but are much less likely to allow goals as well. It should be noted that style mods do not play a role in determining who wins or loses games, only what the score itself is. Should you choose to give your team a style mod, please make it clear to me by including it in your permissions box (see below paragraph), bolding it, underlining it, or otherwise making it clear to me.
Finally, you should also include an RP Permissions box in your roster post. It is an essential part of participating in any tournament. The idea of the box is to let your opponents know what you are willing to allow them to do, and what you aren’t willing to allow them to do. This includes injuries, goalscorers, etc. Please post the following somewhere in your roster when you post one:
- Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following...
Choose My Scorers: Yes/No
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes/No
RP Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Injuries to My Players: Yes/No
RP Penalties for My Players: Yes/No
RP Ejections for My Players: Yes/No
Godmod Other Events: Yes/No
Scorination
Games will be scorinated between 4:00 and 6:00 PM EDT each day unless otherwise noted. Should the cutoff time need to be changed, it will be pushed back and I will try to give no less than one day’s warning before this. It should be noted that the playoff schedule is subject to change as my RL schedule is not fully pinned down during this time.

Playoff Stage
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the playoff stage along with the top four third place teams. Group winners will be seeded 1-10 based on the established tiebreakers (see host bid), and the top 8 seeds will receive an automatic bye to the round of 16. The other 16 playoff teams (seeds 9-24) will face each other in a one-game playoff to determine which teams will advance to the next round. The play-in games will happen the day after the conclusion of the group stage.
The winners of the play-in games will be re-seeded to determine second round matchups, after which there will be no further re-seeding of teams. All playoff series will be held in neutral venues throughout the Equestrian States and will be best-of-three, except for the championship series, which will be a best-of-five series.
