IUBC IV Draw

Postby Falconfar » Sat Jul 14, 2012 8:08 pm

An astonishing total of seventeen different associations entered four teams apiece for the 4th edition of the IUBC. As always, there will be a 32-team Group Stage, meaning that the field of 68 must be trimmed to 32. This will be accomplished this way:

1. One team each from the top eight associations (Falconfar, Taeshan, Civil Citizenry, Darmen, Valladares, Yesopalitha, Saugeais, and Cotdelapoms) will receive a BYE to the Group Stage.
2. Twenty-four teams will play in a Preliminary Stage.
3. The twelve winners of the Preliminary Stage and the other thirty-six teams will play in a Qualification Stage to see who makes it to the Group Stage.

As ABK and Northern Sunrise Islands are the two newest nations to join the IUBC, three teams from each will be put into the Preliminary Stage.
As Michael VII, Free South Califas, Ko-oren, and Camwood are the four lowest ranked nations in the IUBC, two teams from each will be put into the Preliminary Stage.
One team each from the Arcadian Islands, Kagdazka & Pazhujebu, The Icemark, Cotdelapoms, Saugeais, Yesopalitha, Valladares, Darmen, Civil Citizenry, and Taeshan will enter the Preliminary Stage.
As the top ranked nation in the IUBC for this edition, Falconfar will not have to enter a team into the Preliminary Stage.
All other teams will be entered into the Qualification Stage.

The draw is as follows:

IUBC IV Preliminary and Qualification Rounds/Group Draw

Postby Falconfar » Mon Jul 16, 2012 5:22 pm

For the first time, RP Bonus was taken into account. Every nation was given 0.3 points per default, and those nations who RP'ed more than that received more. The percentage was set at 25% to give teams who RP'ed more than other teams a better chance at winning.

4 Cosmopolitan Albionpool 6 2 4 428 436 −8*

*Sparrey Miners ahead of Cosmopolitan Albionpool due to Points Difference after H2H (1-1)
Although the Ville-DuPont Racers blew Game 6, a humiliating loss to the Miners that completely destroyed their Points Differential, the Racers were able to get the second playoff berth after the Cobalt, who were the superior team in this group. Sparrey and Cosompolitan, didn't live up to their billing and missed the playoffs.

4 Atlancia Pioneers 6 1 5 416 461 −45

*Urajbina Purple Frogs ahead of Orion City Rollers due to Points Difference after H2H (1-1)
The Arches were the team to beat in this group, but they were handled well by the Purple Frogs and the Rollers. Urajbina became the first team from Kagdazka and Pazhujebu in years to make it to the knockout rounds of this competition, while Orion City kept the Falconfar flag flying strong. In fourth place were the Pioneers of Michael VII, who actually made enough news by being here in the first place.

*Lanceros de Colón ahead of Frauhofen due to PD after H2H (1-1)
The Urbanites are back into the knockout rounds once again after being knocked out in the Semifinals the last tournament by the Copper Bullets. Joining them will be the Lanceros from Valladares who edged the Terror of Frauhofen by virtue of points difference. East Village rounded out the group, managing one win against the tough foes.

4 Vanler Wolves 6 0 6 443 512 −69
Echo Park of Free South Califas surprised everyone by going 5-1 in the group, with the lone loss coming at the hands of the Holy Templars of Freedom's Altar. Freedom's Altar did finish second to punch a ticket to the knockout rounds, while the Arrieros of Valladares and the Wolves of Camwood were, disappointingly, sent home.

4 Eau Claire Wolves 6 1 5 411 475 −64

*Worcester ahead of Wurlington due to H2H sweep (2-0)
The Dynamos of Falconfar, defending IUBC champions, needed a win on the last day over Eau Claire to punch a return ticket to the knockout rounds after a series sweep against the Jackals of Cotdelapoms, who won the group despite point differential being an issue. The Dynamos will probably be seeded above the Jackals, as the seeding is done by wins first then points differential, but Jackals fans can look at the fact that they defeated the defending champs not once but twice for good measure. Frostmarris made a run for it but fell, and Eau Claire looked lifeless in most of its games.

Nobody expected this. This group was supposed to be fought between the Hornets and the Tigers with the Buccaneers looking in and the Elves being happy that they made it to the Group Stage for the first time. Instead, it was the Buccaneers who ran away with the Group Title, with the closest call being a 2-point, overtime win over the Tigers. The Hornets literally crashed and burned, avoiding the group cellar only due to Point Difference. Votto Toren, of all teams, will be ranked first in knockout play due to being the only team to finish undefeated.

3 North Hampton Grizzlies 6 2 4 432 484 −52
4 Gelendzhik Greyhounds 6 1 5 476 465 +11
The Chinquin Copper Bullets, who smashed Trewich's hopes of a three-peat last season, won this group, which was not a surprise. Who finished second was. The Kings of Frbiba, one of three MIchael VII teams who made it through, took an initial loss at the hands of the Copper Bullets, then went undefeated the rest of the way through minus another loss at the hands of the Copper Bullets. Hence, the Kings will become the first Michael VII team to make it to the knockout rounds of the IUBC. Good luck to them, for they will need it.

The Gilley Bullets became the second team from Saugeais to make it to the knockout rounds this time around, the first time that Saugeais has accomplished the feat. Port Kostas became the first team from Camwood to make it to the knockout rounds, while the Aces of Frbiba, unlike their counterparts, the Kings, crashed and burned their first time in the Group Stage.

Falconfar is the only association with three teams in the knockout rounds, showing why it is ranked number one. Following Falconfar are Taeshan and Saugeais with two. Surprisingly, Civil Citizenry only entered one team past the Group Stage, but that team is none other than the Urbanites. With the big three teams, the Urbanites, the Dynamos, and the Copper Bullets, all making it this far, they may face each other yet again.
Round of 16 Match-ups
Reminder: Two teams from same association may not play each other.
Also, the IUBC is a hard-bracket tournament.

M1. 1Votto Toren Buccaneers (FAL) vs. 16Ville DuPont Racers (SAU)
M2. 8Sterling City Tigers (DAR) vs. 9Urajbina Purple Frogs (K&P)
M3. 4Echo Park (FSC) vs. 13Freedom's Altar Holy Templars (YSP)

M7. 7Wurlington Dynamos (FAL) vs. 10Worcester Jackals (CDP)
M8. 2Trewich Urbanites (CVC) vs. 15Port Kostas Buccaneers (CMW)
Notable match-ups in this one-game, unpredictable round includes Echo Park taking on Freedom's Altar again after splitting the series during Group Stage, Wurlington playing Worcester a third time with the hopes that the third time will be the charm, Trewich vs. Port Kostas, which should be a fabulous match of a mainstay versus an up and coming team, Chinquin vs. Orion City, a battle between two heavyweights, and Capetown vs. Frbiba, which will decide whether the Kings' Cinderella run continues.

Scorination of the Round of 16, the Quarterfinals, and the Semifinals will be done tomorrow, with the Final to be scorinated the day after that. The venue of the Finals will be announced tomorrow as well.

First, the finals venue of the fourth edition of the IUBC was determined by the nine-person committee. The bids were:
Fishburn Stadium (AIS) and Great Arch Arena (CVC)

The voting result was as follows:
Great Arch Arena (CVC) 5, Fishburn Stadium (AIS) 4
Hence, Great Arch Arena (CVC) will host the IUBC IV Final.
Ro16 Results
1Votto Toren Buccaneers (FAL) 67–76 16Ville-DuPont Racers (SAU)
8Sterling City Tigers (DAR) 88–78 9Urajbina Purple Frogs (K&P)

7Wurlington Dynamos (FAL) 76–90 10Worcester Jackals (CDP)
2Trewich Urbanites (CVC) 76–84 15Port Kostas Buccaneers (CMW)
An absolutely shocking round saw all but two higher ranked sides fall. More astonishing, Worcester knocked off defending champions Wurlington by defeating them a third time, Port Kostas put away Trewich, and Orion City took care of Chinquin, clipping the Big Three from going any further in the competition that they owned the first three editions. With such upsets, the new fore-runners are the Sterling City Tigers, the Orion City Rollers, and the Capetown Cobalt.
Quarterfinals

Worcester Jackals (CDP) 93–77 Port Kostas Buccaneers (CMW)
Port Kostas Buccaneers (CMW) 81–85 Worcester Jackals (CDP)
10Worcester Jackals (CDP) advance 2-0
With Orion City losing Game 3, none of the Big Three associations will be sending a team to the semi-finals. Will it be Darmen leapfrogging to the top? Will it be Valladares taking its first title? Or will it be upstarts Yeesopalitha and Cotdelapoms? An intriguing set of Semifinals matches await.
Semifinals
8Sterling City Tigers (DAR) vs. 13Freedom's Altar Holy Templars (YSP)
Sterling City Tigers (DAR) 88–67 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars (YSP)
Sterling City Tigers (DAR) 69–86 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars (YSP)

Hence, it will be the Holy Templars of Freedom's Altar and the Jackals of Worcester that will have a chance to duke it out for their respective first titles, and their associations' first titles, at the Great Arch Arena in Civil Citizenry.

The IUBC would like to thank Polarian Restaurant chain Fjorkiss for sponsoring the first five editions despite Polar Islandstates not being interested in basketball. Hence, any and all businesses that wish to sponsor the IUBC for editions VI-X must submit their name, headquarters, nation, logo, and a brief description. The submission of sponsorship will also be cutoff at 7:00 PM on August 26th, 2012.

Many thanks to all who've participated thus far, and happy scorinating!

Yesopalitha Basketball League Season 4

Postby Yesopalitha » Tue Jul 31, 2012 12:22 am

Freedom's Altar has built a dynasty thus far, winning the first three titles. Can anybody defeat the star-studded Holy Templars?

After the regular season, the standings stood thus, with all teams finishing at .500 or above making it to the playoffs:
Yesopalitha Basketball League Pld W L PF PA PD
1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 90 69 21 7322 6346 +976 Playoffs IUBC
2 New Hazingafar Knights 90 68 22 7278 6350 +928 Playoffs IUBC
3 Wolvesbane Dragoons 90 63 27 7153 6255 +898 Playoffs IUBC
4 Kingston Lynx 90 61 29 6850 6520 +330 Playoffs
5 North Hampton Grizzlies 90 59 31 7213 6614 +599 Playoffs IUBC
6 Lenox Mean Green 90 51 39 6921 6753 +168 Playoffs
7 Hansbrough Turtles 90 48 42 6871 6755 +116 Playoffs
8 Raxton Beavers 90 45 45 6805 6789 +16 Playoffs

9 South Hampton Lions 90 43 47 6795 6857 −62
10 Xavier Hammerheads 90 40 50 6620 6752 −132
11 Worthington Cougars 90 38 52 6569 6891 −322
12 Tarahal Lake Glaciers 90 31 59 6577 7144 −567
13 Yeharu Penguins 90 30 60 6523 7180 −657
14 Irkan City Swarm 90 28 62 6504 7146 −642
15 Etoile Stars 90 23 67 6363 7063 −700
16 New Denal-Ithorn Warriors 90 23 67 6206 7155 −949
Eight teams make it to the playoffs, but it's the Templars and Knights that lead the field once more. Freedom's Altar actually won the fourth edition of the IUBC, and is riding the wave of success. The Templars' title defense starts with a series against the Beavers from Raxton, who finished just barely at .500.
Playoffs

Quarterfinals

1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars vs. 8 Raxton Beavers
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 91–78 Raxton Beavers
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 100–64 Raxton Beavers
Raxton Beavers 58–67 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
Raxton Beavers 79–92 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars win series 4-0.

The Beavers have to be happy that they made it this far. They ran into the machine that is the Freedom's Altar Holy Templars, and their Cinderella run ended before it began, being shut out, 4-0. The closest game was a nine-point win in Game 3, with all the other games being decided by more than ten points. Isaac Redman, Jr., Bethany Dickinson, and Jimmy Rocksworth are the core of this team that won the fourth IUBC and seem to have nothing to do except win. If they don't win the Championship yet again, it will be a disgrace.

4 Kingston Lynx vs. 5 North Hampton Grizzlies
Kingston Lynx 74–90 North Hampton Grizzlies
Kingston Lynx 74–76 North Hampton Grizzlies
North Hampton Grizzlies 81–76 Kingston Lynx
North Hampton Grizzlies 71–67 Kingston Lynx 5 North Hampton Grizzlies win series 4-0.

Though the scorecard said that the Lynx were ranked higher than the Grizzlies, but the truth is that the Grizzlies are a far more experienced squad who have been to the IUBC numerous times. The inexperience of Kingston showed in this series. Three out of four games were close, but when push came to shove, Jesica Hickson, David Thomure, and Luisa Beloin led this squad to clutch shooting that saw them win, and punch yet another ticket to the IUBC. In Game 2, it was the Center, David Thomure, who rejected Lynx SG John Melan as time expired to preserve the win; in Game 3, a deep three from Bryan Dautel, the Shooting Guard, put the game out of reach with just over a half a minute left; to close it out, in Game 4, PG Jessica Hickson stole the ball mid-court and raced it down for a layup with twenty seconds left that pushed the lead to five. All this clutch experience is preparing the Grizzlies for yet another showdown against the seemingly immortal Templars.

2 New Hazingafar Knights vs. 7 Hansbrough Turtles
New Hazingafar Knights 87–78 Hansbrough Turtles
New Hazingafar Knights 83–58 Hansbrough Turtles
Hansbrough Turtles 80–70 New Hazingafar Knights
Hansbrough Turtles 64–64 New Hazingafar Knights (73–74 OT)
New Hazingafar Knights 85–92 Hansbrough Turtles
Hansbrough Turtles 66–81 New Hazingafar Knights 2 New Hazingafar Knights win series 4-2.

In the only series that went to more than four games, the Knights had a bit of a problem handling the feisty Turtles and their star forward, Lukas Autry. The Knights went ahead in Games 1 and 2, led by Nevin Williams, Jr., the purest scoring center in the league, who scored twenty-two points and twenty-five points respectfully in those two games. Then, Hansbrough surprised everyone by taking Game 3 behind a breakout game by Autry, who scored thirty-five, grabbed twenty-one boards, and dished out eleven assists. Autry was hot again in Game 4, scoring over thirty again, but it was the Knights' PF Fanny Devore who sunk the three as time expired to give the Knights a 3-1 lead. Although Autry and the Turtles were able to get one more win in Game 5, the Knights pulled away in the third quarter of Game 6 to return to a very familiar spot - the Yesopalithan Basketball Semifinals.

3 Wolvesbane Dragoons vs. 6 Lenox Mean Green
Wolvesbane Dragoons 87–70 Lenox Mean Green
Wolvesbane Dragoons 91–91 Lenox Mean Green (102–97 OT)
Lenox Mean Green 66–81 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Lenox Mean Green 74–82 Wolvesbane Dragoons 3 Wolvesbane Dragoons win series 4-0.

Mean Green fans were hoping that it was about time that the basketball team broke out. Tell that to the Dragoons. The defending runners-up wasted no time destroying the Mean Green, who didn't have a prayer except in Game 2. However, Kevin Yeshuan, Ethan Newman, and Joshua Victor gathered the troops in overtime of Game 2 to take the game. After that, the Mean Green just looked dead, with their star forwards Tim Higgins and Mathieu Loiseau going through cold spells and their center, Emily Verville, not being able to block anything in the defensive side. The Dragoons will look for another Finals berth, and perhaps revenge on the Holy Templars.
Semifinals

1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars vs. 5 North Hampton Grizzlies
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 66–72 North Hampton Grizzlies
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 83–71 North Hampton Grizzlies
North Hampton Grizzlies 73–85 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
North Hampton Grizzlies 70–74 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 79–79 North Hampton Grizzlies (91–87 OT) 1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars win series 4-1.

The Holy Templars may have been on cruise control as they spent little energy taking down the Beavers of Raxton. The Grizzlies and Hickson woke them up. In a re-match of last year's semifinals, it was the Templars who came back from the initial loss to win four in a row and punch a ticket to their fourth straight title. Hickson scored twenty, Thomure eighteen, and Luisa Beloin had twelve assists on the Game 1 win for the Grizzlies, but that was where the fairy tale ended. Isaac Redman, Jr., and Bethany Dickinson started to turn in performances that show why they are on one of the best basketball teams of the world, and the Grizzlies just couldn't keep up. Just when the Grizzlies seemed to have caught up, Dickinson buried a three with twenty-one seconds left in Game 4 to put them out of reach. Game 5 was a very tight affair, with Hickson actually scoring the tying bucket at the buzzer off of a twenty-foot shot. In overtime, though, it was Dickinson who buried yet another three to put the Templars out of reach and win the series. A four-peat is in sight.

2 New Hazingafar Knights vs. 3 Wolvesbane Dragoons
New Hazingafar Knights 82–96 Wolvesbane Dragoons
New Hazingafar Knights 64–98 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Wolvesbane Dragoons 72–72 New Hazingafar Knights (90–85 OT)
Wolvesbane Dragoons 78–61 New Hazingafar Knights 3 Wolvesbane Dragoons win series 4-0.

Another rematch of last year's semifinal, with the seeds reversed. Again, same result. The Dragoons ran away in the third quarter in Game 1, outscoring the Knights 30-15 that left the game safely in their hands. Newman, Victor, and Yeshuan kept the pressure up in Game 2, which was over after two and a half quarters. Just when the Knights started to respond back, the Dragoons handled the tight Game, Game 3, well, even though the game went into overtime after the Knights' Fanny Devore sunk two free throws with zero point three seconds left. In a high-scoring overtime period, Point Guard Micha Brasseur took over for the Dragoons, scoring ten points and assisting on two other buckets that saw the Dragoons through to a 3-0 lead. With a chance to close it out, the Dragoons again won the middle quarters, 40-24, to put the series away in the bag. For the third straight season, it will be Freedom's Altar vs. Wolvesbane.
Yesopalitha Basketball League Season 4 Championship Series

1 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars vs. 3 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 95–62 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 60–85 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Wolvesbane Dragoons 69–75 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
Wolvesbane Dragoons 66–57 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 80–87 Wolvesbane Dragoons
Wolvesbane Dragoons 90–81 Freedom's Altar Holy Templars 3 Wolvesbane Dragoons win series 4-2.

After all those games, the two heavyweights, Wolvesbane Dragoons and Freedom's Altar Holy Templars, went at it again. Game 1 saw the Templars handle the Dragoons just like they were used to, with Dickinson scoring twenty-four, Redman, Jr. dishing out assists, and Rocksworth grabbing boards. Game 2 was in the bag for the Templars until midway through the third, when Redman, Jr. went down with a sprained ankle injury. With their field general out, the Templars became a lost bunch, and the Dragoons ran away with a 85-60 drubbing. Redman, Jr. returned for Game 3, a six-point win brought on by Dickinson's three three-pointers in the last two minutes. Then, disaster really struck for the Templars as Redman, Jr.'s injury became serious. Dickinson started to play point, and actually helped the team hang around in Game 4, but she got in foul trouble midway through the fourth quarter. Without their two superstars, the Templars became just another bunch of ordinary players, and Kevin Yeshuan was able to lead the Dragoons to a Game 4 win that tied the series up. Game 6 saw much of the same story, with Dickinson getting into foul trouble, having to miss a few crucial minutes, and Yeshuan, Newman, and the Dragoons taking advantage of it. Isaac did return for Game 6 with the Holy Templars on the brink of losing the title that they had had for the last three years, but it made no difference. The momentum that the Dragoons had was too much to be overcome, and after a twenty to eight run in the middle of the fourth quarter put the Dragoons up by fifteen, the Freedom's Altar dynasty ended a season after the Templars won both the Yesopalithan League and the IUBC. The Dragoons won the title in their third try, and the rivalry between these two sides just became even more crazy. Kevin Yeshuan was the finals MVP.

The Icemark Basketball Review Season IV

Postby The Icemark » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:16 am

Frostmarris suffered heartbreak again, as they won the league title for the third year in succession only to fall in the Play-off championship finals once again. Bendis would be crowned champions after winning the play-off final series over surprise finalist, Old Haven. Frostmarris were the stand-out performers in the UIBC for the second season running, though once again they failed to progress beyond the group stages.

Preliminary Round
Michael's Bay 63–76 Frbiba Kings (Michael VII)

Postby Northern Sunrise Islands » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:53 am

ITV

Overview: ITV is a company that works on television since the start of the Northern Sunrise Islands, with a more than decent participation on other countries around the world. Involved mainly in broadcasting sport events thru their main channel and the NSI Sports Channel. The company already sponsors the Champions' Hockey League and for them, sponsoring the IUBC wouldn't be that hard with their current progress in the media business and funds.

For this season only, the Sunrise Basketball League will be disputed on a one-conference only format.

Arcadian Islands (AIS) IUBC entrants:
Qualifiers:
Eastbank (Emperors)
Trim (Bushjays)
South Arcadia (Bluebirds)
Western Esperance (Riflebirds)
Season Results

UIBC IV, the second time teams representing Arcadian Islands have participated, proved good experience for the four qualifying teams prior to the start of the domestic season, despite all Arcadian teams being bundled out of the competition in the qualification round. South Arcadia Bluebirds defeated Matthew City Wolves from Northern Sunrise Islands in the preliminary round 82-66, but were then beaten 65-61 by Frbiba Aces in a close match where the lead was exchanged frequently. North Hampton Grizzlies from Yesopalitha comfortably accounted for the Western Esperance Riflebirds 85-61, while the Eastbank Emperors went down by twenty-two points to Ville-DuPont Racers from Saugeais. To round out the defeats, the East Village Califans cruised past the Trim Bushjays 79-58.

Even though they suffered losses early on, quite heavy ones at that in many cases, the teams that participated in UIBC IV seemed to carry a new found sense of confidence into the league, and from the opening days of the season looked determined to earn a repeat qualification in order to make amends this year. When the dust had finally settled on another action-packed season of the ABL, the four qualifiers from last season found themselves with both UIBC qualification berths and trips to the finals.

Eastbank, full of confidence after securing the minor premiership, hosted a determined Western Esperance in the first final; a shock win by the visitors putting pressure on the favourites who cracked on the road to be knocked out in only two games. Trim and South Arcadia fought out the other semi final, which went down to the final game where Trim repaid the faith placed in them by local bookmakers to take out the series and make the finals. Despite accounting for the minor premiers, Western Esperance could not hold off the stronger team from Trim; a win for each team at home took the game to a decider where Trim edged out their opponents to take home the championship.

Following the increase in popularity of the ABL across the Arcadian archipelago, the ABL has decided to expand the competition from next season; an initial increase to fourteen teams will eventually be expanded to twenty teams, which will include teams from outside Flinders and Cook islands for the first time. The final series will be expanded from a top six finals to an eventual top eight finals, with best-of-five game series for all rounds except the championship series itself which will be contested as a best-of-seven.

Stadium Bid for Final:

New Albion, Flinders Island, Arcadian Islands; Capacity: 12,480
Celebrating a decade of operations, Fishburn Stadium is Arcadian Islands' first environmentally designed major public building, incorporating energy and resource conservation features. Located in the tourism focused city of New Albion, the stadium is unlike any other public buildings which existed at the time of construction; the building was formed from a combination of steel and laminated plantation timber, producing a more crafted architecture that responds to environmental issues. The stadium includes rain water storage systems (the double layer pleated plate roof captures and channels rainwater directly into storage tanks) which provides half of the grounds and garden watering needs. The stadium is also equipped with solar hot water systems which directly save electricity usage and costs, while shading devices on the exterior of the building reduce the level of air conditioning needed to keep the building cool.

It provides consumer, corporate and private banking, credit cards, and other financial services both directly and through more than 210 branches distributed mainly in the Valladar Westlands and the main cities of the Valladar mainland like Metropolis, Carloburgo, Eterna City, Campo Grande, Bezieres, Canalave and Pradera. It is an important provider of both mortgages and savings, as well as commercial lending. WesternFinance also has an agreement with Heritage (a Valladar insurance company) to provide life assurance, pension protection and investment products through its branch network in the Westlands, while also providing its banking services through Heritage's branch network, which is more evenly spread in the mainland.

WesternFinance is very interested in expanding its operations beyond the borders of Valladares, seeing sport as a valuable means to make both its brand and services known in other Rushmori nations, and by extension, the multiverse. Already sponsoring Edmonton United, a Valladar football club playing in the Valladar Super League, and Valladar basketball team Edmonton Bears, they would like to increase their global appeal by sponsoring the main competition of club basketball in the multiverse, the IUBC.

Jewel of the North Financial Arena Host Bid
Jewel of the North is the most high-profile Sicoutian company ever. Hotels, banks, restaurants, even a football team, JOTN has it all. St-Simeon, in the province of Baie-Eternite, is not Sicoutimont's capital, but definetley the most cultured city. People from all kinds of races, with ethnic backrounds originating in Rushmore and beyond, come together in St-Simeon. Culture, food, and language is even the cities motto. A typical St-Simeon weekend involves going to the cottage in Edmunston, and sitting down to watch the Whalers in winter, the Mets in summer, and the HC and Whalers handball teams. Some people will enjoy a game at Stade St-Simeon of gridiron or football. But very few St-Simeon residents watch Basketball. This, however, is something JOTN wants to change. JOTN has had success before, starting a handball league in our nation, and owning 5 of the 8 SBA teams. The game is there, but JOTN wants it to be there, inside the hearts of Sicoutians. This is why Jewel of the North Financial Arena, home of the Whalers and Dunk, are bidding to host the IUBC championship. JOTN's belief is that even if you're not interested in basketball, if you go see the best players in the world playing, you'll be hooked.
