Water World Championships 3 (RP/Results)

Welcome to Bartewick, Civil Citizenry – the site of the third Water World Championships!

This thread is for sign-ups only. You may copy the list below and fill in participants for as many events as you would like to participate in. Every event allows you to enter up to two individuals or teams (it’s perfectly fine to enter one individual or team for any event – two is just the maximum). Please remove events for which you are not entering athletes – it makes it so much easier for the host (me) to input your rosters. Do not post “tag” or “will edit in” posts in this thread: just finish your roster and post it when you can. Also, if you want to change your athletes for any event, or you have made a mistake and would like to correct it, please do so in a separate post, or I will skip over it.

I have listed the number of participating individuals/teams you may enter for each event; but for your convenience, I’ve also included the number of athletes per team for each event. If the event is for individuals only, the event will say “(2)” next to the name; you must specify the names of each individual. If the event is for teams (other than synchronized swimming and water polo, see below for more info), the event will say “(2 teams of X)” next to the name, where X is the number of athletes per team; you must specify the names of each individual on each team. If the event is a synchronized swimming or water polo discipline, the event will simply say “(2 teams)” next to the name; you do not need to specify the names of each individual on these teams. Please do your best to adhere by these rules.

Next to each individual or team, you must include a skill modifier in parentheses or brackets. Skill modifiers are used by the scorination program (xkoranate 0.3.2) to partially sway results. You may enter a modifier anywhere from 0 to 1 (0 being a n00b athlete with no training, 1 being a superstar who devotes his/her life to the sport), with up to two decimals. However, the average of all your athletes must be 0.5 or smaller. This is a requirement that must be met, so make sure you check your math. As well, it is important that for teams, you enter one skill modifier for the entire team – not one modifier per person on each team.

Sign-ups will be closed at 20:00 EST on Thursday, September 29. After that, an RP/Results thread will be created, with a full schedule. The tournament is likely to take at least two weeks. If you have any questions, please refer them to the WWC OOC discussion thread instead of making solely-OOC posts on this thread.

Bergnovinaia placed first in the inaugural competition; Cyborg Holland claimed the top spot in the last one. Do you have the aquatic skill to deem your nation the best in the multiverse? Sign up and find out!

Euskirribakondara enters!

Postby Euskirribakondara » Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:11 pm

After the good results at the Olympics, the King has agreed to fully-fund the sports in our kingdom; therefore, we have the maximum number of entries possible and we want to achieve a very good spot in the top 3.

Our anthem is Euskirribakondara, Guren Harrikía which goes to the rhythm of Im Anunë Hayastan E

The three-letter symbol that we've been using and want to use always is EUS; so we'd really appreciate if it goes here too. The accepted demonyms of our nation citizens are: 'Euskal' or 'Euskirribakondarian'.

The participating nations in the Water World Championships 3 sum up to 11 nations (Names in Euskal for comprehension of the Euskal Audience):
Darmen (DAR)
Catius (THA)
San Vicente Lagoa(SVL)

Euskirribakondara is making its debut, and expects to go very well on this competition. Mikel Erentxe wants to pay revenge.... he just won one medal in the Olympics; even when he's the best swimmer in our Kingdom. We'll compete on all events; and we're really happy for the effort the King has been making on upgrading the sports infraestructure of the country, and the sportsmen lifes, expecting to gain enough experience to host the VII Summer Olympics.

Two airplanes of EuskAir are carrying the Euskal delegation to Bartewick, Civil Citizenry. They expect to arrive tomorrow (Sat Oct 1) to that city.

Well readers, it has been a while but with the WWC3 about to make a splash in Bartewick, I have decided to take a break from my hectic schedule of afternoon drinking to bring you a preview of the best chances to bring home glory to Southern Cynocephali.

CANOEING

Men's C-1 slalom; Roland Romeyer
The winner of bronze at the recent Sixth Summer Olympics, Romeyer is definitely one of the top competitors in this field. With the fastest time in the Olympic semifinal (83.32), he was beaten in the final after a slow run, although the two athletes which ultimately beat him will not be appearing at WWC3.

Women's C-1 slalom; Mélissa Plaza
A good competitor despite her 25th placed finish in the recent event in Lasft, Plaza will be looking to make amends for her Olympic heat run where an error in missing a gate compounded itself to see her finish well down from where she expected to be.

Women’s K-1 slalom; Stéphanie De Rivière
De Rivière took home the other bronze in the nation for canoeing at the Sixth Summer Games and will hopefully build on that performance at WWC3. Performing consistently at Lasft, she finished 4th in the heats before a slightly better performance in the finals saw her finish comfortably in third, well in front of the fourth placed finisher. Her competition from Lasft is also missing from this event, so Stéphanie De Rivière will hope she can improve on her Olympic bronze and take top spot.

SAILING

Men’s star class; Andre Labrousse & Thomas David
Labrousse and David will be making their international competitive debut at WWC3, and have been working closely with the team that has qualified to represent Southern Cynocephali in the match race sailing at the AOvR competition. The duo will use this event to prepare for future competition; at 22 and 21 years respectively this is a pairing that will dominate local sailing for years to come.

SWIMMING

Men’s 100m Freestyle; Romain Rocchi
Bronze medallist in Lasft in this event, Rocchi performed consistently throughout the Games, saving his best time of 47.34s for the final. Will hopefully repeat this performance, or better it, in what is traditionally a very competitive race.

Men’s 1 500m Freestyle; Romain Poyet, Nolan Roux
Poyet comes into this event on the back of his Olympic gold. Despite just scraping into the final with the eighth fastest time, he pulled out a final time of 14:40.93s to take home the first ever gold medal for the nation. He will have stiff competition from Nolan Roux, who outperformed him throughout the games until the final, where he dropped to fourth, just missing out on a medal of his own. This is without a doubt our nation's strongest event, and the rivalry between Poyet and Roux will only grow as a result of this meet.

Men’s 100m Breaststroke; Martin Corentin
Scraping into the Olympic final in Lasft in eight, Corentin finished in fourth place with a surprisingly strong performance. Corentin has been a frequent figure at the CIS (Cynoceph Institute of Sport) swimming pool in Locri since the games, working hard to improve his times in a bid to taste competitive success.

Women’s 50m freestyle; Axelle Dechesne
Women’s 200m individual medley; Axelle Dechesne
Women’s 400m freestyle; Eulalie Sardou
Women’s 400m individual medley; Eulalie Sardou
The WWC3 represents the first time women have represented the nation in swimming, so the team heads to Bartewick with little history with which to gauge performances. Judging by the times at local trials, Axelle Dechesne and Eulalie Sardou are the two top performers to watch. Dechesne, daughter of Lilter United manager Benoit Dechesne, will hope to be at the pointy end of the field in both the 50m free and 200m IM. Sardou is a more accomplished middle distance swimmer, and will compete in both the 400m free and 400m IM. Both girls will be looking to make a name for themselves after missing the recent Olympics; the recent formation of the CIS should ensure that local women's teams are not missing from future Olympic events.

Women’s 4x100m medley relay; Lise Comeaux, Louise Meserve, Hélène Dupuis & Amelie Barric
Another untested quantity, this foursome posted some blindingly quick times at the CIS which made their selection inevitable. The legs they will be swimming (not in order of relay) are; Lise Comeaux (Freestyle), Louise Meserve (Breaststroke), Hélène Dupuis (Backstroke) & Amelie Barric (Butterfly).

WATER POLO

Women’s water polo; Women's
Women’s: Clarisse Paule (GK), Geneviève Guérin, Anouk Descoteaux, Nathalie Archambault, Christine Léonie, Lucile Cousineau, Valérie Martell
Olympic silver medallists who went down 10-4 in the final against Kelssek, the team will be hoping to go one better at WWC3 in a smaller field. The girls however are known for their inconsistency which could see them knocked out of the competition without realising their full potential. Hopefully team captain Geneviève Guérin will use her growing experience to focus the team on the job at hand and take the girls all the way through the competition to another final where they can make amends for the one sided game in Lasft.

Water World Preview for Vekaiyu
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - Vekaiyu has fielded a full roster for this third Water World Championships, which are being held in Civil Citizenry for the third time. The vulpine nation performed admirably during the first two championships, but looks to take advantage of the lower competition this time around, especially in the area of swimming, diving, and water polo.

Vekaiyu took advantage of the competition being just after the Olympics by including many of the same athletes from their games in order to do a final evaluation on their performance. However, many newer faces look to compete and make a name for themselves during this championships. Many next-generation divers will look to use this competition as a springboard to qualify for the 2012 Olympics. Young stars like Sayli Hevlimari and Seri Liskovyay will consist of younger "B" teams for their respective events. Their individual performances, however, will be closely monitored.

"We will spend the break between Summer Olympics to fine-tune our Olympic roster for the 2012 games," a spokesperson for the Vekaiyun Olympic Committee announced prior to the roster touching down in Bartewick. Despite finishing 8th overall, the nation was disappointed in how it performed in diving, swimming, and synchronized swimming events. There will, however, be plenty of opportunities to re-create their rosters for next year, however, as other national competitions and international events like Water World Championships are expected to be available.

For instance, the nation was allowed to expand its water polo teams into two apiece per gender. The Vekaiyun Olympics Committee has already stated they will be watching how each team competes and will factor into next year's Olympic team as they continue to tinker with their everyday national roster.

Look for younger stars to be making a name for themselves during these games, as well as "veteran" athletes maintaining their placement for Olympic events to come!

MD1 cutoff! This will encompass events planned for yesterday and today.

Unfortunately, the pure workload means the first day will need to be pushed back till tomorrow afternoon. The next set of events will still take place tomorrow night as scheduled.

Real MD1 cutoff. This will encompass only the canoeing events of October 4/5, as I don't want to overload everyone with too many events. The diving events from October 4/5, as well as all the October 6 events, will come tomorrow. The rest of the schedule will be pushed back a day. I apologize for the inconvenience, but please bear with me, as there are a lot of events to handle and I do have a busy schedule in my life.
