Strides in Canoing for Vekaiyu
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - While Vekaiyun canoe athletes generally placed last in all of their events during the 2011 Summer Olympics in Lasft, Cafundeu, they managed to grab three medals in the first day of the championships.

The day started off with the Men's K-1 500m, where Lokalo Resimeri finished last in his group time, but his time was still enough to qualify for the final round, which he placed silver in with a time of 1:24.3, an improvement of about 2.5 seconds from his first round. The improvement was the sharpest within the entire group, and showed the athlete has much promise for future competitions.

Vekaiyu also took bronzes in the Men's K-2 500m event as the combined efforts of Yiisu Spisharvenske and Viktor Uslenavre finished amidst a slew of other competitors, as second through sixth place finished within one second of each other. Later in the day, Kesi Iglavosvi grabbed bronze in the Women's K-1 1000m event after finishing inches ahead of Catalina Batista from San Vicente Lagoa.

It has been understood that the schedule changes happened as a result of weather causing authorities to postpone certain events. While the Vekaiyun Olympic Committee and the athletes sponsored have refrained from any complaints, one Vekaiyun business, Imokolis, is apparently organizing a sales pitch to the Civil Citizenry faithful to build aquatic arenas similar to what have been built in various Vekaiyun cities, notably Calesu and Iliesa, where some of the most innovative facilities are located.

"Vekaiyun aquatic arenas are certainly superior when it comes to spectating and hosting aquatic events. Like other Vekaiyun companies, we have recently been looking to expanding our business internationally, and do our best to cater to the needs of the facilities as well as take into consideration cultural aspects that make any establishment unique and exclusive to the city of interest."

"Water is our world" should be the theme for the Thatian Water Sports Department. They practically live in the realm of water for their entire lives, directing events, coordinating athletes and trainers, and making sure there is a bit of success in the end run. Well, they can say they've at least accomplished something here at the 3rd Water World Championships in Civil Citizenry. No Thatian had been entered in the Canoeing events before, due to the lack of planning by the Water Sports Department, so many athletes were absent in the Olympics. But they finally got their act together and a delegation was sent to Civil Citizenry. An astonishing seven medals were earned yesterday, and that was only in the canoeing events! Let's take a look at what happened yesterday, shall we?

Carlos Maya. When he was born, he wanted to be on the Thatian National Soccer Team. That didn't happen due to a series of broken bones in high school. But he did take up another sport, Canoeing. Now he's on the Thatian team, and competed in the Men's K-1 500m. In the heat race (qualifying for the final race) he placed first overall, giving him the chance to race for the gold. However, he came up just a bit short, but still took home the bronze.

Connor Kolomos. Coming from a Greek-background, Connor grew up living on the water. His family owned a hotel on one of the Greek Islands in Thatius, and practiced canoeing, sailing, and water skiing pretty much every day. But when he went off to college, he knew he wanted to pursue canoeing. He's accomplished so much, and earned a combined three medals, including a gold and two silver. He partnered with Morgan Qol, a friend from the University of Mariksburg, to race in the Men's K-2 1000m. The two took silver while Connor himself competed in the Men's K-1 1000m and earned a silver as well. Finally came the Men's K-4 1000m where Peter Malev, Chase O'Lear, Han Zhang, and Connor himself took the second-place medal. A fine showing from these athletes.

Andrew Frost. Normally a quiet, reserved fellow. For years the media has been keeping tabs on this guy because his father is the Speaker of Parliament. Now Andrew has made a name for himself by becoming an athlete participating in canoeing. In his C-1 slalom race, he actually managed third place- a bronze medal! Now he can live up to his father's reputation just a bit more. We'll see how he'll handle his mini-celebrity status.

Sabine Nikolic. Placed third in the Women's C-1 slalom. As a veteran, she's competed in many events in Thatius, but never on an international level. This win for her makes the biggest success of her career. Can we expect her to make a run at the Olympics next year? We'll find out.

Steffi Martinez and Heidi Sanchez. Two best friends who grew up canoeing. Whether it was on the rivers in Thatius or out in the open sea, the two always managed to get in a lot of practice and training before being recruited by the Water Sports Department. Now the pair have won a silver medal! A great way for their friendship to grow.

And that's about it for the canoeing events as of now. We look forward to the future events in diving, swimming, and water polo (among others.) Be sure to check out our webpage, or at least buy another subscription of this magazine. Cause you know, it's important to be familiar with this stuff so when you're on 'Who Wants to Win Money' you'll know the correct answer.

Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - With one gold, four silver, and one bronze, Vekaiyun divers showed their strengths during today's events in Civil Citizenry, continuing their long march forward toward next year's Summer Olympics. It was anticipated that the matches today would help to begin to shed some of the squad and allow for other athletes that did not compete to have a way to get into the thick of things, but with the entire team doing very well, it is difficult to really determine who is on-the-outside-looking-in as far as eligibility for next year goes.

Kicking off today's successes was Yamano Sokalori. The local from Lekinapi earned a silver medal in the Men's 3m Springboard event, a mere ten points off the pace. Next was a complete sweep by Vekaiyun athletes as Ivanov Imlevesi and Reko Xanavostre took gold and silver in the Men's 10m Platform, edging out the competition by dominant scores. Xanavostre believes this is mostly due to the fact that judges here are more accepting of non-human entrants.

"I hate to say it, but that's a huge factor in judging these days, it seems," he said after his routine. "It's difficult when some judges really haven't seen non-human divers perform on a regular basis. We tend to have vastly different styles and routines."

Later on, 2011 Summer Games bronze medalist Xa Susinaristre had a satisfactory score that was not enough for the performance from Civil Citizenry, but still gained a silver in the competition. Sisani Noverlu and Isii Nesedjaservise earned a silver and bronze respectfully in the Women's 10m platform diving event, missing the gold and silver sweep matched by the men earlier today by a mere ten points.

Later still, the combined team of Riyna Esteri, Sayli Kimineri, Vikki Reslire, and Ika Somevine earned a bronze in the Women's K-4 1000m event, which turned out to be quite a thrill for third place. The athletes were actually in fifth on the last leg, but managed to pull pass the competition to earn Vekaiyu's 4th medal in canoing.

While both female water polo teams lost today, it is understood the contest is still early and is not any cause for alarm. Vekaiyu looks forward to more events in the future, especially in the concentrations of swimming and diving.

VCNMN's 3rd Water World Championships Coverage

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry once again. Civil Citizenry is hosting the Third Water World Championships, so it was no surprise that Vulshain would also be participating.

Vulshain has sent a good many more athletes this time around, some of whom participated in the 2011 Summer Olympics. Many of them are gold medalists. However, it seems that Vulshain is off to a rocky start as even the two gold-medal winning Reinhilde sisters were unable to win in a medal in the diving events.

There is some good news. Shocking everyone was the gold medal win by Nelli Chukarinlin and Dana Menshchikova in the Women’s C-2 slalom Canoneing event, thus winning Vulshain's first gold medal in the 3rd Water World Championships.

Then, Velimir Bernard won Vulshain's second medal, a bronze, in the Men’s 3m springboard Diving event.

Hopefully, Vulshain's other athletes will be able to win even more medals this time, and they may even surpass Vulshain's East Pacific Region rival, Vekaiyu.

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry's Bartewick.

Mélissa Plaza waited nervously as the other competitors in the Women's C-1 slalom had their turn on the choppy course in Bartewick. Qualifying from the heats with the slowest time meant that Mélissa had been the first down the course in the final, and her final time of 99.29s was equivalent to the third fastest heat time. If she was honest, Mélissa was just relieved to make the final; the Games in Lasft had been a disaster, and despite being considered a top challenger Mélissa languished down in twenty fifth thanks to an early error.

Mélissa hoped her time of 99.29s was enough for a medal. One by one, the other competitors raced down the course, and Mélissa soon found herself staring at the timesheets with her name on top, with only two competitors left. She was guaranteed a place on the podium, and tightly hugged Stéphanie De Rivière in excitement who had come to support her teammate.

The last two competitors, Jenny Ulrich (PIS) and Sabine Nikolic (THA) had been the fastest in the heats; if they could replicate their times from their early runs they would pick up gold and silver respectively. Mélissa watched as first Nikolic and then Ulrich crossed the line, neither of them able to match Mélissa's time. She had done it! Gold, her first in international competition. She was surrounded by a number of Cynoceph athletes who raced down from the stands, but none could break her embrace with long time friend Stéphanie De Rivière. Tears began to stream down the faces of both athletes, Mélissa letting out emotions which had been building since her failure in Lasft, and Stéphanie expressing her relief for her friend who could now approach the next competitions with confidence.

Mélissa eventually made it back to the team hotel, after being congratulated by the whole Cynoceph delegation as the first gold medal winner for the nation at this meet. Exhausted, Mélissa finally reached the comfort of her bed, but had to resist the temptation of collapsing onto it. Logging onto her laptop, she called her parents. Seeing her father's face on the small screen she smiled, a solitary tear escaping after the torrent that had flown earlier. "Hey poppa. Guess what?"

Gold Medals for Vekaiyu
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - It is not every day a sports reporter is privileged with interacting with the athletes she covers on a daily basis. But, this reporter was able to don a Vekaiyun divers swimsuit and enjoy some casual exercising after the real athletes finished their competition late this afternoon. This reporter quickly realized, however, that there was an enormous gap between herself, who only had remedial swimming lessons in grade school, and the athletes, who are among the elite in the Nationstates' world. This was of course expected.

The divers seemed to be relaxed and collected after their competition, which netted Vekaiyu three gold, four silver, and one bronze medal for a total of eight medals. It should be noted that Vekaiyu only managed nine total medals during the Second Water World Championship, so this is a marked improvement. Anchoring the squad was two gold medals earned today, the first of which were earned by Nyl Lakervi and Kiro Noselu in the men's synchronized 3m springboard event. Later on, 2011 Summer Olympics bronze medalists Vikki Neveshesku and Ankya Suleri took gold in the women's synchronized 10m platform by a slim margin. Still, their performances, combined with those from yesterday, are definitely telling: Vekaiyu has much talent in diving available and, with some fine-tuning, can indeed put together a formidable team for the 2012 games.

But the games themselves couldn't be farther away for the athletes, who spent time doing a few routines and generally relaxing and enjoying the time away from practice and competition. They also took a bit of time trying to teach this reporter who, after a few hours of 'learning' and not being able to see without her glasses, managed to take home a trick or two, in addition to connecting with the athletes she has been following tirelessly for months upon months.

VCNMN's 3rd Water World Championships Coverage

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry again with Day 2 coverage of the 3rd Water World Championships!

Vulshain seems to be having a lot of ups and downs this time. However, Vulshain shows a lot of promise, especially in water polo after the Women's Water Polo team won their second match. This gives them one win and one draw as of right now.

Vulshain's Olympic diving gold medalist-sister team, Alania and Rebekka Reinhilde scored the silver medal in the Women’s synchronized 3m springboard diving event. Both Reinhilde sisters were greatly impressed with Civil Citizenry's diving duo of Kimberleigh Hollis and Garnet Nachine who defeated the two sisters. "We congratulated them on a job well done. We both look forward to competing with them in next year's Summer Olympics," Alania Reinhilde told VCNMN.

Two young divers picked up their first medal in an international competition yesterday at the 3rd Water World Championships in Civil Citizenry. Jurgen Hanlek, a nineteen year old from Fajaravik, Thatius, and Conrad Stoyonov, a twenty year old from Kasern, Thatius, managed to snag the silver medal in the Men's synchronized 10m platform in diving. The pair recorded the second highest score of the day, behind Dugani Nimpe and Jeram Tupi of Euskirribakondara. Their performance added to the grand total of eleven medals earned by Thatian athletes so far, including five silver and a gold. Jurgen and Conrad downplayed their win, saying that it just took a lot of practice to nail their routine, but they look forward to participating in the next Olympics as part of the Diving Retinue. According to new rules produced by the Thatius Aquatics Department, any athlete who earns a medal in an international competition is given instant entry into their Olympic delegation, so long as they prepare and train for the year to come. Jurgen and Conrad have just signed the contract that will give them the ability to be entered, and hopefully we'll see them again soon at the Olympics.

In other news, Axel Magnovoska earned the bronze medal in the Men's K-1 slalom, while Hannah Lindstet earned the silver in the same event for the women. Also complementing the swimming and diving events is water polo. The Thatian Men's A-team managed to beat the Euskirribakondara B-team in a close match, by a score of 9-8. The men's B-team tied San Vicente Lagoon 8-8, which is not bad considering the team is full of secondaries.

THE FRANZ JOSEF HERALD
POLARIANS: QUITE GOOD WITH STICKS
by Tomas Sjaelland

In the same week that saw an amateur team from a pub in the Federation storm to fourth place overall in the hurling at the Gaelic Games in Sorthern Northland, as well as seeing the national ice hockey team progress to the playoffs at the world cup for the first time ever in Plutoni, the delegation of athletes sent by the Federation to compete in the third Water World Championships in Civil Citizenry have romped home with an unprecedented thirteen medals in the canoeing and kayaking events, including four gold medals that shot them to the top of the medal table after the second day of events. The Franz Josef Herald has asked me, your new columnist, to investigate just why Polarians seem to be getting so good at all these sports that require the use of a stick, and what better place to start, than by talking about Magnus Fjelt?

Magnus Fjelt is a name synonymous with multi-eventing in the Federation, or even for somebody who can multi-task, or apply themselves to even just two sports, "he's a proper Magnus Fjelt" is a phrase you would be quite likely to hear. But what does the formidable 28 year old from Northbrook have to say on the subject of the Polarians' sudden affinity with all things long and thin with a flat bit at the end? Having two trials with Northbrook Diamonds as a teenager, the club decided football just wasn't the best use of his obvious athleticism, and instead he was given the card of the regional Olympic association, where he flourished as an all round athlete. He burst onto the scene with an overall win the Ad'ihan Pentathlon Series, including a win in his native Northbrook, and at the second Water World Championships, he was the Federation's best individual performer, sealing two silvers and one gold as the Federation finished second in the medal table.

This time around, he's off to a flying start, with two golds, one silver, and a bronze so far, often with partner-in-crime Arne Uhrmacher, and chased by Olsen and Sundstrom all the way. These medals have seen the Federation surge to the top reaches of the medal table, with only Euskibakondarra's third day performance stopping our athletes from topping the pile. It would certainly seem however, that the hands of Polarian are never happier than when they're grasped around a sporting implement. I put the question of why to several top Polarian sportsmen and women...

Magnus Fjelt: "What? Sticks? Oh, erm, cos we used to hunt for fish with spears? Or reindeer? I don't know. Bit of a daft question if you ask me."

Erik Olsen: "Better funding. We can use better facilities, and so now we are more comfortable with the equipment."

Radoslav Invermuir: "All that time I spent in Cotdelapoms, probably. I play there for the Royals, have I mentioned that before? Yeah. The Royals. I love the Royals."

Arne Uhrmacher: "Who are you?"

Jenny Ulrich: "Get out of my bathroom! How did you get in here? Man, you're as bad as Timo Skye! Get out! Get out!"

My results?
Inconclusive.

Keep an eye out for the next Olympics though, skiing needs poles, as does the javelin, pole vault, weightlifting, tennis... ish, fencing... kindof.......

Triumph in Canoing, Synchronized Swimming
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - Despite predicted to finish poorly in most canoing events during this Third Water World Championships, Vekaiyu has showed intriguing strength in that area, netting six medals including two silver in the early-goings of this competition. One has to wonder if it is the skill of the athletes shinning through their increased exposure to upper-level competition.

"We're learning on the way," Lina Iklarovi said shortly before her performance. She, along with Xa Remistraro, managed a silver in the Women's C-2 500m canoing event, while their own native competition of Yva Isnistre and Isii Yaveste were not far behind, narrowly edging out the team compiled by the host nation Civil Citizenry. The latter team qualified for Olympic play in 2011 and actually finished sixth overall in the same event, though their times were two seconds off from their trial in Lasft.

Later in the day the synchronized swimming Team A from Vekaiyu compiled a strong routine after besting their competition in group 2 trials. Their performance was strong enough for a silver medal in the sport, giving the nation the complete spread over the past three competitions. In the first championships, they took gold, but they scuffled slightly in the next, winning bronze.

This is the first year in which two teams from one nation could compete, and it was feared the talent would be spread too thin, as it has been suggested for the Olympics-dominant Vekaiyun Women's Water Polo team, which has seen just one win in four games. Some believe they have not recovered from their atypical defeat during knockout round competition, a defeat which snapped a string of a record sixteen wins in a row. Others merely brush this off as a learning experience for the lady polo players.

Regardless of the reasons, Vekaiyu continues to look forward to other events. Many eyes will be on the Vekaiyun swimmers as analysts and fans alike will glean from their performances who is worthy of the 2012 Olympics and who has catching up to do. While only the Vekaiyun National Olympic Council has the final say in that, it doesn't stop the daily chatter of who is better than who, or the provincial pride so strong in Vekaiyun athletics.

Vekaiyu's medals allow the nation to retain its fourth-place position in the early-goings of this competition. Look for athletes to perform well over the course of the next few days!

VCNMN's 3rd Water World Championships Coverage

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry again with Day 3 coverage of the 3rd Water World Championships!

Vulshain seems to be doing quite well in the Water Polo events. Both the men's and women's teams won their matches. After doing terrible in the last two Water World Championships, a lot of work was done to improve Vulshain's water polo teams. This was the reason why Vulshain didn't send a water polo team in this year's Summer Olympics, as it was believed that the players were not ready yet. The 3rd Water World Championships will determine if Vulshain is ready for its water polo players to compete in next year's Summer Olympics or if there is more work and training to be done.

The men's water polo team does appear to need some more work, but so far, they are doing quite well than in the previous Championships held by Civil Citizenry. It appears that Vekaiyu will be facing some stiff competition from Vulshain, especially in women's water polo.

Many of Vulshain's athletes are hoping to win more medals, especially Erik Rainard, the younger brother of Vulshain's King Samuil Rainard. Erik Rainard failed to earn a medal when he competed in this year's Summer Olympics, but he hopes to win a medal in these games.

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from Civil Citizenry's Bartewick.

Cynocephs Prove They Don't Need Cox
-Lar Binder

Jeffrey Damour and Pierre Silva are on top of the world today after picking up gold medals in both the men's coxless pairs and as part of the men's coxless fours. President F.N. Ramolino's office has confirmed the pair will be awarded with the Medal of the Order of Cynocephs (OCM), in recognition of their excellent performance at the Third Water World Championships in Bartewick.

Damour and Silva started their quest for double gold with the fastest time in heat one, and overall the fastest time to get into the final. The pair found their form was contagious, with Maison and Charruau pulling out all the stops to see the foursome qualify for the final with the fastest time, the only team to finish in under six minutes.

Fortunately, the quick qualifying times were not the omen they have been in the past, and the duo went on to claim gold in the pairs, comfortably finishing just over five seconds in front of the second place team from Euskirribakondara. The duo were not happy with just one gold, and perhaps buoyed by their first gold they helped power the foursome home to a similarly comfortable win over the Abdian team.

The success represents the pinnacle of remarkable careers for Pierre Silva and Jeffrey Damour. An ex-military pilot, Silva was injured in an aircraft accident while in his early days of training. The small fighter trainer had lost power just after takeoff and, despite ejecting from the aircraft, Silva's legs were shattered upon impact with the ground as his parachute did not have enough time to deploy. Silva turned to rowing after repeated leg surgeries left him unable to walk unassisted, using the sport to rebuild his fitness and eventually began to compete in regional events against other athletes.

It was there he met Jeffrey Damour. The pair were thrown together for a CIS event when both their existing partners developed food poisoning, leaving them unable to compete. The pair immediately hit it off, and went on to leave the rest of the field in their wake. Damour, the son of a naval pilot, had been rowing from a young age and by the age of twenty could almost claim to be a seasoned veteran of the rowing circuit. However, Damour's life was not itself untouched by the hand of tragedy, his high school sweetheart killed in a car accident when he was nineteen.

The whole nation is overjoyed that these two young gentlemen, who have already suffered life challenges beyond their young years, have been rewarded for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport. Everyone in the nation owes these two fine Cynocephs a beer, or two, and perhaps the usual 'coxless' jokes will be retired at least for the short term.

Triumph in Canoing, Synchronized Swimming
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - Vekaiyu continues to tack on medals with a bronze in synchronized swimming today. The team, Vekaiyu's Team B, finished second in their group competition, but managed to pull the necessary stops to step up their game, their score improving in the final round to earn a medal in the contest.

As with synchronized swimming, Vekaiyu and the Vekaiyun National Olympic Committee are learning that having two teams does not necessarily ensure both teams will do well; instead, it could spell a worse performance overall. For instance, Vekaiyu's mens synchronized swimming team earned a silver in the 2011 Summer Games in Lasft, Cafundeu, as did the men's water polo team. This competition has seen Vekaiyu, a nation traditionally strong in water polo, under preform. Athletes have suggested it could be due to not being used to playing with certain players and with some players still recovering from the Olympic Games that recently ended.

There is an exception, however. The Vekaiyun Men's B Team has been very impressive, with their most recent win over Euskirribakondara by a dominating 13-4 score. The Vekaiyun National Olympic Committee tried to divide their water polo teams among veterans and young stars, but it seems this team has been relatively unharmed by the potentially fatal move for this Third Water World Championships. Vekaiyuns will definitely keep watching that team and others as the water polo matches continue and teams continue to gel.

Vekaiyu still remains fifth overall in the medal tally, but definitely looks forward to the ever-important swimming events, due to take place some time next week.

VCNMN's 3rd Water World Championships Coverage

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry again with Day 4 coverage of the 3rd Water World Championships!

Vulshain seems to be doing quite well in the Water Polo events. While the Men's team lost their match, it was a very close game. It was only after an unlucky misfortune when the team's two star players twisted their ankles--at the same time that cost the team the match. Meanwhile, the women's water polo team played excellently.

In addition, Vulshain won another medal. One of Vulshain's synchronized swimming teams won the gold medal in Duet synchronized swimming, beating both Euskirribakondara and Vekaiyu. Seems Vekaiyu has some fierce competition from us huh?

Indican Morning Herald
Morning Edition

Cynocephs dominate coxless rowing

Belinda De Rye and Jacquie Dossier were almost able to replicate the mens duo in the coxless rowing, as they picked up gold and only narrowly missed out on silver in the fours. In what seemed at times a case of déjà vu from the men's pairs event, De Rye and Dossier were strong in the heats without dominating them, saving their best time for the final run where they finished exactly eleven seconds clear of second place. The foursome which also included Bridget Donne and Julia Leliu were not as strong in their heats; however they surprised the whole field in the finals by narrowly missing out on the gold, by just fifty-one hundreths of a second, to the Abdian team which had been strong throughout the meet.

There has been political pressure locally to honour the pairing of De Rye and Dossier with a national order as has been announced for the men's pairing of Damour and Silva. However, critics of this suggestion have pointed out that the duo is being awarded the honour for being the first double gold medallists for the nation, and that not awarding the honour to De Rye and Dossier is not a matter of sexual discrimination but rather consistent with awarding the orders based on merit alone.

The future of local rowing seems promising if the results from Bartewick are anything to go by; three gold medals out of the four coxless events, and a silver in the fourth, shows that the work from the CIS (of which coxless rowing has been an area of focus) is beginning to pay dividends for the nation.

In other events the women's water polo team, silver medallists at Lasft, suffered their first loss of the meet to the host's A team. The tight match finished 10-8, with the hosts pushed over the line by the vocal home crowd. The loss is disappointing for the girls, however they still find themselves on top of their group as the local team who defeated them have played one less game. Hopefully they can still sneak through to the next stage, and back up their Olympic performance with another medal at these championships.

Aspiring local athletes who think that one day their name may appear on these pages, should head down to one of the CIS Intakes around the nation this month. Registration is required, and all participants should arrive on the day suitably attired. Applicants for winter sports (there probably aren't many of you!) can only apply in either Lilter or Indica for a position at the new CIS facilities in Grenlund, Polar Islandstates. Check out their website (http://www.cis.gov.scy) information.

Can success be repeated?
Wenn Sie in Wasser schwimmen
Issue #36, 10/12/11

The 3rd Water World Championships started off brightly. Many stars shone individually that day, and garnered many medals. Yet as the second and third days have passed by, the success enjoyed on the first day has not been found. Instead, it can almost be called a complete disaster. While only a handful of athletes participated, only one medal was gained, and thankfully that was a gold.

We congratulate Lena Dazuka, the gold medalist of the Women's C-1 1000m event. She out-did her opponents by 1.222 seconds and snagged the top medal in turn. Her success was the only medal of the day, but still quite an accomplishment.

Looking to other events, the disappointment is there. All four of Thatius' Water Polo Teams lost to four other nations, some by a huge margin. This puts both the A and B teams in or close to last place. A shame, because the water polo teams have become more experienced since the Olympics. With Captain Michael Landoslov leading the team, they were bound to at least have a win for the Men's A-team. That was accomplished, but it the team also received a blow of two losses, and therefore making the team ineligible to go to the knockout round.

While the success varies of the last few days, we still look brightly for the future. Swimming events we can be sure there will be at least one winner, and Olympic Silver-medalist Olga Koravo will be competing as well. Thatius, an island nation, is known for their sailing. Many athletes became well-known after their convincing performances in Cafundeu. Michael Erakovic looks promising in the several events he will be participating in, as well as Ryan Mirskii. Look out for them on the water.

Couple of things to address here.

First of all, let me apologize for not having any results over the past two days. Given the two game downtimes over the last two days, where logging in was impossible, I decided to allow everyone some extra time to RP - which clearly some nations have utilized to their advantage. As a result, tonight's post will include results schedule for October 10 and 11. October 12 will not be scorinated till tomorrow because I don't want to shove two days' worth of sailing events in your faces. So yes, that's another day of pushback for the schedule, but sometimes life's like that.

This business about dates is quite confusing, don't you think? That's why I've edited the tournament schedule in the OP to reflect the self- and game-induced delays. October 13 looks kinda gigantic, since it includes events that were scheduled to be on October 10 and 11. Bearing all that in mind, the competition is now scheduled to end ten days from now: Sunday, October 23.

The next point is that there will need to be a change to the women's water polo event. I had not planned to use five-team groups for the event, and because of that a double round-robin format would extend the event to encompass ten matchdays just for the group stage. That's too long in my eyes, so the group stage will now be single round-robin. Ergo, tonight's scorination will include the final matchday (MD5) of the group stage. The rest of the schedule for the event will stay in place; the quarterfinals will still be held on October 15, and so on.

And last but certainly not least, let's remove the Band-Aid and have the cut off!

Vekaiyu Takes First Medal in Sailing
Reporting for V3 News Services, Rin Slakori

BARTEWICK - Despite participating in two Water World Championships and two Summer Olympics, the nation of Vekaiyu finally grabbed a medal in an interregional competition with a silver today in sailing. Specifically, the effort put forth by Salvatoro Bokineru and Nyl Kusare was enough for them to place first in their initial group heat. Their time for the final round fell off only slightly, but the tandem's time of 6:25.91 was less than one second off the pace in what turned into a close run for the men's double sculls. Later in the day, Kira Aglevero, Sisani Nukeri, and Sera Xkalavu took second in their first race for the women's yngling class event, making them a potential for Vekaiyu's second medal in the sport.

In water polo, the men's B-team spoiled the host nation's B-team with a score of 12-8, then narrowly outlasted the A-team from Thatius by a score of 8-7. The B-team is now the only team in the conference with a 5-0 undefeated record, and has the largest goal differential. Their win guarantees a spot in the knockout rounds. They will continue to battle for the first overall slot as the competition continues. The B-team on from the women's water polo team also qualifies for the knockout round. Their 2-2 record is the worst record for a team that qualified in that conference, but their goal differential shows that when they win, they win big. They will get Darmen for their first round.

The silver medal earned today gives Vekaiyu seventeen medals overall, and sixth in the medal table. Vekaiyu hopes to continue its success, especially in the realm of swimming, which should be transpiring some time next week.

This is Salinia Alexandra, reporting live from the nation of Civil Citizenry again with some coverage of the 3rd Water World Championships!

Vulshain seems to be struggling in this time but there was some bright spots. The men's polo team won their match keeping them in the game. Meanwhile, despite the women's team losing their match, they are going to the finals! Look out Vekaiyu! Vulshain is going to give a run for your money!
