As do I.

Nuclear, wind, solar, and geothermal are the best types of energy.

As long as the regulations are tight and everybody's competent, I wouldn't mind nuclear power. As long as other methods of power generation were being explored, and nobody lived close to the power plants. Nuclear power is actually arguably the most reliable ways to power spacecraft, which makes me love it a bit.

Nuclear power causes the fewest deaths per energy unit of any energy source.
I support peace in Israel and Palestine. The governments and people in power on all sides are an absolute disgrace, and their unwillingness to pursue peace is a disservice to the people they are meant to be serving. The status quo is not simply untenable; it is unquestionably unacceptable.

Nuclear Power is the greatest power source available to man. Its one of the safest forms of power, and works rain or shine, 24/7.

Personally I think we should work towards ditching Uranium and moving to the Thorium cycle.

Just like Chernobyl and Fukushima. Too risky imo

Cherynobyl was the equivalent of picking up a book labeled HOW NOT TO RUN A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT and following all of the steps inside. Steps like intentionally shutting down safety systems, and switching of warnings. The entire thing was preventable, and the series of events that led to the disaster aren't possible in other plant designs.

Fukishima weathered a 9.0 Earthquake intact with all safety systems working flawlessly. The only reason that it failed was because the emergency generators were in the basement and got trashed by the tsunami.

Sure it's efficient, we just need to fully and rigorously train employees to prevent these things. I'm just kind of wary and all, y'know?

Modern plants can't Replete CANT do what Chernobyl did. Simply because half the systems are hard locked to not allow it and the other half are a hair twitch away from being hard locked to not being able to do that.

I still find it odd that they needed backup generators inside a nuclear power plant.

Perhaps. Right now, many of the nuclear power plants in the USA are reaching the end of their useful commercial life, and will be probably be decommissioned due to the high expenses associated with maintaining them past their "expiration date".

The government has mostly facilitated the construction of nuclear power plants, awarding permits and such without much resistance. The problem for nuclear power in the USA is economic -- they are mostly not commercially viable at the moment due to the flood of cheap natural gas in US energy markets. Only a few nuclear power plants (I think 4 or 5) are slated to be constructed over the next decade as a result.

I am not opposed to nuclear power, I think the government should fund scientific research into things like thorium molten salt reactors, while leaving the decision whether to employ the technology commercially up to the private sector.
