From: François Dubéll, CEO & Owner of Gertner's Cider Mill

Mr. Nata'an,

We respect your choice and fully understand. Much as we would appreciate the direct sales, it would make much more sense for you to order both our products and BB's through their centralized distribution network. As we are indirectly business partners, we are pleased to still be doing business with you. Good luck with your new acquisition and many happy returns. I'm sure we will have the chance to meet in person at some point or another, or talk again. I have authorized our colleagues at Burgunden Breus to send along an extra complimentary case of apple wine just for you. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

François Dubéll, CEO & Owner of Gertner's Cider

Dear Mr. Dubéll,

On behalf of the Some Village Sports Federation, I would like to contact you upon a proposition we want to make towards Gertner's Cider. It has come within our knowledge that your company is currently on the look-out to expand the awareness upon their products amongst the public, both in Neu Engollon and abroad. Such can be reached in a diversity of ways, but one of the fashions which has gained widespread credibility throughout the years is the support of sporting teams or events, in exchange for wide exposure towards the fans of said event or team.
Last year, the Some Village Wanderers have joined the AVRU, the Alpen Valley Rugby Union, which is without doubt one of the sporting events which receives the most attention in Neu Engollon. The Wanderers have scored high marks during said year, both by their performance on the pitch as by their attitude and behaviour towards officials, press and supporters. Due to the positive results of this season, we aim to enlarge our scope with participation in the Seasogs, the international competition for rugby, and internation contests. Such a target, however, is hard to reach without the support of forward-thinking commercial companies.
Seeing these two matters, it seems to us that we not only complement each other, but might even fortify each others efforts to reach our long term goals. The profile of your company matches ours remarkably well. The respect for family values and craftmanship is highly esteemed amongst our nation, while your ciders are well appreciated by our fanbase. It is no miracle that Gertner's is already on the menu when a supporters event is organised. However, we would be interested in enforcing these ties into a strong bond. Practically, we would, in exchange for a certain contribution, carry out the logo and products of Gertner's Cider by publicity on the jerseys, a priviliged position in the stadium and in communication, publicity during fan events, ...
Before going into detail upon such an agreement, it should be of the highest priority that your company would support this sort of arrangement up to the hilt. I am therefor looking forward to hear whether Gertner's Cider would fancy this proposal and, if such is the case, what extent you would see applicable to this accord.

Sincerely,
Erastos,
president of the SVSF.

THE STANDARDS

GOLDEN CROSS LAGER
A very easy, smooth drinking lager with a low ABV (3.8%). It is a blue collar institution in Neu Engollon and now quickly becoming a standard in the world. Golden Cross was an independent breuerie near Albertville established 70 years ago by Guillaume Monyer Sr. It was rescued from insolvency by BB, in order that a classic brand not be lost to the ages.
Level 1 Pricing: $ 85 Per Keg, $ 19 per case (Case - 30 cans)

GOLDEN CROSS LIYT
The much in demand GCL, or Golden Cross Liyt, is a lower calorie beer that comes in under 80 calories but doesn't sacrifice flavor for calories. 'Gimme a Gee Cee El!' is a favorite refrain heard in the local corner bars.
Level 1 Pricing: $ 85 Per Keg, $ 19 per case (Case - 30 cans)

CHATEAUX
A light bodied, crisp pilsner, golden in color; It is a widely loved favorite for light beers in Neu Engollon and a selection that has been in their repertoire since almost the beginning. AVBF Silver Medal Winner.
Level 2 Pricing: $ 120 Per Keg, $ 32 per 30 btl case

SHADOW SHANDY
A dark malted wheat mixed with lemonade, but still soft on the nose; A unique shandy that is more bold and has more bite than many of your typical, light summer shandies.
Level 2 Pricing: $ 120 Per Keg, $ 32 per 30 btl case

KRIEG KOLSCH
A moderate, crisp beer with a light spiced, hoppy mouthfeel; A traditional kolsch that has been drunk by seafaring and farming folk alike, a newer twist on an old recipe.
Level 3 Pricing: $ 135 Per Keg, $ 41 per 30 btl case

81 ALE
Our standard, classic IPA is a hearty, bitter but balanced India pale ale. 7 strains of hops are present in the mix that keeps building up in intensity with its double and triple varieties. There is a clean aftertaste due to a well maintained amount of Alpha and Beta acids that strike a balance of flavor and bitterness; 81 has it's avid loyalists, and it is the patriotic beer of choice, being named for Confederation day, August First, 1291. AVBF Silver Medal Winner.
Level 3 Pricing: $ 135 Per Keg, $ 41 per 30 btl case

ROUGE RYE ALE
A robust, amber rye ale, brilliant in color and moderate in body; Made with 5 kinds of hops, Maltropian Barlye and rye - it's process has been refined for generations. It is the pride of BB and took 1st place at the AVBF.
Level 3 Pricing: $ 135 Per Keg, $ 41 per 30 btl case

FERME TERRE SAISON
A creamy, but light Belgian farm style ale; Made with citrus, coriander and other spices and slightly bitter hops from the Albertville area. The yeast is extremely aggressive like most Belgian style ales. Traditionally like the home kegs farmers always had brewing and on hand for daily drinking and celebrating. AVBF Silver Medal Winner.
Level 3 Pricing: $ 135 Per Keg, $ 41 per 30 btl case

SCHIELE STOUT
A thick, black malted stout; Named after one of the heroes that threw back the Napoleonic invaders in the early 19th Century, a hearty, thick drink made for a hero of the Confederacy. Schiele is aged as long as possible before shipping out in order for the black malt to build up a rich flavor.
Level 3 Pricing: $ 135 Per Keg, $ 41 per 30 btl case

BERRY LAMBIC
A fruity, syrupy dessert lambic; This lambic has replaced many desert liqueurs at dinner tables across Neu Engollon. A Gold Medal Winner at the AVBF.
Level 4 Pricing: $ 150 Per Keg, $ 55 per 30 btl case

THE DOUBLES
Just as much flavorful appeal as their single malt cousins, but with a bit more alcohol and BTUs. Doubles can be a bit heartier, and are certainly a sipping beer to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.

Gertner's Cider,
This message is from the Ministry of Agriculture of Candentia. We are very interested in doing business with you, although it is not of the nature you may think - we do not wish to "buy" any of your products per se.
Candentia as a nation is massive - we have extensive natural resources and plenty of space that can be used for agriculture, housing, etc. What we offer is a share in this space - we offer hectares of land for absolutely free, and allow you to develop your farms on them to grow fruit, sawmills to produce wood for your casks, and/or develop breweries to turn your raw materials into your products. In return, we would like 35% of each product produced in the hectare(s) you own, and at each stage of the process. For example, if you have a pear orchard, a sawmill, and a brewery to make your pear cider, we ask for 35% of the pears from the orchard, 35% of the wood produced, and 35% of the pear cider. This may seem like a lot, but you will find our land incredibly productive (we are offering out our unused land to corporations in exchange for a percentage of the produce, and competition for our land is fierce) and our natural resources extensive, and you will find that even though you are giving us 35% of produce, you will be overall producing far more than you'd ever produce in another country. Keep in mind that costs are incredibly low as we are offering our land for free. You will have to pay for development of the land yourselves however, but overall the cost would be lower here than in another country where you'd have to pay for both the land and its development. If you accept, please inform us of how many hectares of land you shall take, the products produced on each hectare, and the amount produced. We hope you accept our offer, we strongly believe both our nation and your business will prosper under this deal.
The Ministry is willing to negotiate if you feel any part of this deal is unfair.

Regards,
Minister of Agriculture of Candentia

To: The Minister of Agriculture, Candentia
From: François Dubéll, CEO & Owner of Gertner's Cider Mill

Minister,

Thank you for contacting us with your offer. As you may know, it is always good to hedge your bets in a business such as ours, when a crop may fail in one region, but have a bountiful harvest in another. So, that being said, we would be foolish not to take you up on your offer and increase our margin of success.

However, in regards to our finished beverage products, I don't think we would be able to give those up in any quantity due to trademark and proprietary issues. We are fiercely proud of our recipes and craft, and so we could not allow a cider or wine we produced go under any other label. In compromise, perhaps we could offer a larger percentage of the fruit crop harvested? Also, we would be willing to sell at very reasonable wholesale prices to Cadentian distributors and hospitality industries.

Also, we would keep the flora (trees, vines, plants, etc.) viable as long as possible, but as soon as a tree was expiring or no longer producing viable fruit, we would be happy to give it up to your Ministry and Government. We really have no intention to get into the sawmill and lumber business so we would leave that up to your nation. As long as you could remove and haul off the unwanted foliage free of charge, it would be yours to do with as you wish.

Finally, you mentioned pears in your letter. We are interested to know in what other fruits do well in the climate in your nation. We also utilize apples, apricots, berries and some other fruits and spices in our other beverages, besides the pear cider and perry. We would like to grow a variety of fruits on your leased land.

We look forward and are excited by this economic proposition and hope to hear from you soon regarding these further developments.
Please let me know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Sincerely,

François Dubéll, CEO & Owner of Gertner's Cider

*** THIS IS THE IC THREAD OPEN FOR VIPs, Vendors, Entertainers, Beverage Candidates, Attendees and Flonkers ***
The AVBF is going for 3 IC days. RP will last for 6 RL days, with each RL day equaling one half of an IC day. The beer, ales, meads, etc. categories will be judged in two batches over the first two days. The spirits/liquors will be judged on the third final day.

Dwile Flonking will be scored for 2 groups of 4 teams, with 3 matches played. Two group flonking matches the first day, a final one on the second day. The top team from each group will play for the final. The second best team from each group will play for third place. Sorry, but I don't have the IC time here, or the inclination to drag this out with extra group games or quarterfinals.

TG OP or use OOC Thread for any questions or commentary. General Attendees, there is no need to officially apply, unless you have a VIP who needs a Pavilion Box.
RP for brewers, entertainers, food vendors, sponsors, and flonkers is limited to those who already signed up. Thank you.

WELCOME

This is your guide to the festivities and the fun making! This is the Third Annual Alpen View Beer Festival. If you hold this guide pamphlet in your hands, you are in our fair city of Burgunden, the main financial center and more importantly, the center for craft brewing in the Confederacy of Neu Engollon. It is by far, the largest city in the Confederacy, at over 14 Million in the greater Burgunden area. Also, this city happens to be the home to Burgunden Breueries, the co-main organizer and one of the main sponsors of the event. The other organizer is the Neu Engollon Ministry of Tourism and Culture, which recently saw the Ministry of Athletics split off from it to form their own Ministry. There is a lot to do at the Fest besides eat and drink, but, of course, that is the main focus. You may want to explore the rest of our peaceful, panoramic nation after the Beer Festival has ended, and there are plenty of other things to do in Burgunden if you happen to branch away from the Festival Grounds. You may find brochures and travel information on Burgunden and Neu Engollon at the Confederacy Park Box Office, Gendarme Security Station, and at the Pavilion Help Desk. Also, any questions can be directed to our friendly help staff wearing special orange vests. Enjoy yourselves, but please be safe and be respectful of others around you.

THE CITY

Some places to stay if you haven't booked a room yet in Burgunden:

* Presarius Plaza Hotel H$$$$
* The Menton H$$$$
* Destination Chateau Burgunden H$$$$
* Hotel 26 (Golden Eagle) H$$$$
* Alpha Lofts H$$$
* Collections Hotel H$$$
* Paradise Hotel H$$$
* Hayden Hotel H$$$
* Rock House & Studios H$$$
* Summervale Gardens B&B H$$
* Tell's Inn H$$
* Alpenhorn Tavern H$$
* Motel Mertach H$
* BB Hostel H$

We recommend against trying to find parking for rental cars near the Festival grounds, because besides the fact that parking will be almost non existent and pay parking lots fill up fast, laws on drunk driving are also very strict. Most of all, we want everyone to stay safe. There will be bus and metro train service throughout the night. There will be plenty of taxis, most of them provided by the St. James Cab Service. They will always be lined up outside the gates to take you back to your hotels. Also, watch for the green mini-van shuttles, as they have certain hours, but are free shuttles to many of the hotels in the premier hospitality district of Burgunden.

THE GROUNDS

Confederacy Park is almost as old as Burgunden itself. The grounds are laid out simply with the main stage and the Pavilion in the middle and the participants' tents, aid station, security station and port-a-john stations around the walls of the park enclosure. Pavilion admittance will only be for VIP guests (3rd/top floor) and special 2nd Floor ticket holders or Invited guests. Again, please utilize our friendly staff in the orange vests for directional questions.

THE BEVERAGE MAKERS

The brewers and distillers are some of the best from around the globe and have brought their craft to show off here in the backyard of Neu Engollon's premier brewing City. They have submitted a selection of their best offerings for the judging. They will also be serving most of these selections as well as many other surprise selections at their tents located throughout the grounds. Beverages will be served in various sizes, such as 3oz samplers, 8 oz or 10 oz glasses, 16 oz pints and some may even offer take home growlers, single bottles, 4-6 bottle packs, or cases. Many will also be serving examples of local cuisine and merchandise from their brewery/distillery, as well as some other alcoholic offerings. Check their tents, as pricing and menus should be posted.

THE JUDGING

The main purpose of the Beer Festival is to have a fun, friendly competition for many of the top beers and liquors from around the world. There are several Categories in which beers will be judged, with a couple categories being judged each day. Some of the categories of fiercest competition are for Pale Ales/IPAs, Lagers, Wheats, Stouts and Amber/Rye Ales. However, with the addition of liquors this year, there may be new bitterly contested territory. There are 12 breweries, distilleries and collectives competing in the AVBF this year. The judges are a panel of beverage experts gathered from around the world's most prestigious brewcraft and distillery regions.
Judging will be done through the Xkoronate 3.3 scorinator program, adapting an artistic gymnastic platform to beer categories. Bonus skill points have been given for descriptiveness, story and proper categorization, as well as booth menu and some other categories. Also, there will be RP Bonus.

ATTENDANCE

We are expecting thousands upon tens of thousands of attendees, many of them local and from across Neu Engollon and Astyria, but we will also have quite an outer-regional international presence including some celebrities and VIPs from across the globe. Tickets will be sold in group packages, Full Festival 3 Day Passes and 1 Day passes. Sales of tickets are available up through the last day of the Festival until they last and capacity is reached. Attendees are allowed to re-enter the grounds upon leaving, if their ticket is for that day, but they are subject to search again upon re-entry. A wristband will be issued for re-entry. The Pavilion has three levels. The ground level seating and second level boxes are available for sale through to the last day of the Festival, or subject to availability. Third level boxes are reserved for advance sold VIP spots only. No outside food or drink is allowed in except for sealed water bottles.

PERFORMERS

There is a wide variety of musical performers and other entertainers that will be engaging and rocking the crowd. Some are from Neu Engollon and some are from the International Community. They are listed below in no particular order of importance.

On The Arklay Main Stage:

Velociraptor Rex The premier band that ruled almost three decades from Nouvel Ecosse, and took Astyria and the world by storm. This legendary outfit has reformed over the last couple years and put out a new album to reel in some more glory and bring their thick arena rock sound to new generations.

Vechirek A lively world vibe/folk band from the Principality of Smertolina. They have played every AVBF and have a strong following among Neu Engollian folk enthusiasts and music lovers in general. They are great friends with the Alpen Volken Circle.

The Imperial Navy Band of New Zepuha A full orchestral and brass band of 60 members that will perform traditional and choir arrangements. From the Byzantine State of New Zepuha. This is their second appearance at the AVBF.

The Smertolinan Serene Orchestra and Ballet Company The name says it all. From the Principality of Smertolina. They are led by Concert Master Yanu Boysky. This is their first appearance at the AVBF.

The Canons of St. Christopher's Cathedral A monastery choir of 20 personnel. From the Principality of Smertolina. They are led by Choir Director Canon Peter Hudebnyik. This is their first appearance at the AVBF.

Zerksees Dyngus Dyngus hails from Paradystopia and is a well known musical act/character from there. Tuba solos and other rants shall emanate from the stage as Dyngus casts his magic over the crowds. By reputation alone, he may give Hoppy Jensen a run for his money.

Penguin & The Snowblowers A band from Ulil that simply plays 'music'. Not much is known about them, but we look forward to hearing some new sounds from this little heard from nation.

Alpen Volken Circle A folk group that plays traditional favorites and several styles from around Neu Engollon. They originate from Ludenthal, NE. They will be playing for the dwile flonking events in between their sets. They have returned to play the AVBF every year.

Frigid Mares A favorite act that call Panoli, Neu Engollon home, they play a rich tapestry of rock and roll that takes influences from some of the old 60's garage rock and melds indie, new wave and electro clash influences to that foundation. They have played every AVBF and hope to keep on that trend. Along with the Servonaris, they are part of the southern coastal Neu Engollian music scene that has really come up over the last few years.

The Podunkers Neu Engollon's Podunkers play a fusion of punk rock, Celtic rock and ska with some other styles blended in. They are one of the most popular musical acts in Neu Engollon and have been active as a group for 23 years. From Burgunden, they call this big brewing city home, and many of their songs are about life in the large metropolis. These guys grew up listening to V-Rex and are excited to be sharing a stage with them.

The Servonaris This band hails from San Remo, and plays a blistering set of garage and surf rock. They have developed quite a following in the southern cantons of Neu Engollon and are starting to take the center and north of the country by storm, as well as many other parts of Astyria. This is their second Festival appearance.

On The FBoNZ DJ Stage:

DJ Charovnika Plays a mix of electronic dance, dubstep and trance. She has a loyal following on both sides of the border and does Neu Engollian club tours throughout the year, although she resides in Smertolina and spins most often in Smertolina City.

DJ Goat Smasha Plays a mix of Goth dance, electronic, and Industrial re-mixes with a backdrop of some eerie videos and lights. Burgunden's own, you can often find him behind the boards at the Black Box club.

DJ Taunt Plays soul, reggae, ska and dub music, sometimes contributing his own sampled vocals and guitar stylings. From the capital, Telleursville, Geneva, NE.

Dragon Drop This eclectic and exciting woman spins every kind of music under the sun and surprises at every turn with the odd and interesting mixes she comes up with, but no matter their randomness, her mixes always seem to move the crowd to dance. She hails from Schwartzgarten, Grisbenden, NE.

IN CONCLUSION

Image

Again, welcome to the AVBF and I thank you for letting us entertain you for these three days. We are so encouraged to see so many beverage makers that honor the craft of fine brews and distilled spirits gathered in one spot and look forward to meeting all of you and strengthening ties. Also, the incredible list of entertainers promises to bring joy to the festival goers, of whom, we expect record crowds to enjoy the fest this year.
Finally, we hope that the International delegations in attendance find inspiration and make new bonds that will further global cooperation and industry.

The Toft Family and Neu Engollon are happy to have you here in our large, bustling city in our proud Confederacy, in the grand region that we call home, Astyria.

Sincerely,
Franz Toft

MJÖG FLOKKAST (Most Secret)
Grand Hertogadæmið af Glisja
Sem Gæslumaður Skrá #6378-YFG-52

Aðgerð Endurheimta Forgangur Hlutir - Enska þýðingar: (Operation Reclamation Priority Items - English Translation)

Over the course of the nearly two year occupation of the Grand Duchy of Glisandia by forces of the Yellow Star Republic, an alleged systematic stripping and looting of all obtainable precious commodities, artifacts and pieces of value from institutions of the Grand Duchy belonging to the Royal Family, the Government, the Military and the General Public was witnessed on a massive scale. This document will NOT cover the humanitarian atrocities committed upon the Glisandian citizenry by the occupiers, which has been extensively covered in other documents by the Government of the Grand Duchy, as well as The International/Coalition War Crimes Tribunal.

As conflict with the liberating Coalition forces became imminent, the YSR program escalated and was streamlined in order to clear out the Royal Archives, Treasury, Public and Royal Museums, Galleries and other Institutions from the capital, Rikijdrottin, as well as major cities like Kajmur and Frardjol of the Grand Duchy. As of the conclusion of the war, the defeat of YSR forces, and the expulsion of all YSR forces from Glisandia, the Grand Duchy has yet to receive an apology or even an acknowledgement that this program of mass theft took place or was sponsored by the United Socialist States of the Yellow Star Republic by said same regime.

Several witnesses attest to the methodic removal of these items by both RLO agent teams and crews of the People’s Red Army of the YSR, with the reluctant aid of collaborationist officials of the puppet occupational regime of the People’s Socialist Republic of Glisandia, as well as the forced labor of Glisandian citizens, during the occupation period from 2012-2014. This has been categorically denied by the current regime of the YSR, but when pressed, there have been small admissions that rogue elements from both the RLO, the YSR’s state security apparatus, and the PRA, the main military branch of the YSR, may have perpetrated these crimes without approval. It is the firm belief, proven by eyewitness testimony and GSB research, that these actions were sanctioned by the highest levels of government in Arkjelstad and not the act of rogue factions within the YSR.

Some of these items were recaptured before they could reach the border of the Grand Duchy-YSR by the resistance. Unfortunately, some of the factions of the resistance swore allegiance to God's Glisandian Army (GGA), not the Duke, and the artifacts temporarily reclaimed by these groups were turned over to the GGA command and promptly destroyed as heretical idolatry. It is unclear how many treasures this fate befell.

Ultimately, the YSR goal was to turn these treasures into liquidity in order to purchase more modern foreign military arms to continue the war effort against the Coalition. Their goals were not met as the market for such high profile artifacts on the black market was very niche, and their ability to launder the gains from the illicit sales through few willing banks and institutions could not keep up with the rapidity of the progress of the war and the Coalition campaign of liberation.

Additionally, once on board, these foreign military arms suppliers could not deliver the volume of arms and equipment to replace the losses suffered by the PRA, PRAF and PRN at such a rapid rate. Some withheld shipments, even after receiving initial payment, either upon notice by Teremaran International authorities, or upon intelligence that those arms would do little to hold off the collapse of the YSR military.

The Glisandian Security Bureau has compiled a comprehensive list, as best can be established, of the items, artifacts and treasures looted from the numerous above referenced institutions. From that list, certain items have been eliminated such as those that would most likely be melted down or liquidated in some form, such as gold bricks, and other non-amalgamated high value precious metal objects, as well as those items that may have historical value, but their estimation of worth outside of the Grand Duchy, or their content of precious metal, were minimal.

The following list is the top priority list selected from the greater compiled GSB list. It is also the list of items that have the most certainty attached to them of potential current location as well as the greatest chance of being accompanied by additional missing Glisandian artifacts and treasures in close proximity to their suspected respective locations.

(Ancient Ducal Crown of Emdur)

The Ducal Crown dating from the 6th Century worn by the legendary Glisjak warrior Duke Emdur. While simplistic and easy to melt down, it is believed to have been traded for its full historic value by the YSR looters to black market collectors. The original fabric and animal pelt interior were replicated and replaced at some point in the 16th century and again in 1887.

Accession #: GLDR-921-2-3

Accession #: GLþL-1870-6-24

Last Known Location: National Gallery, Rikijdrottin

Current Suspected Whereabouts: Unknown. Reported sightings in Kvarljeg, and Volsk, Falkasia. Another report says the piece was destroyed along with a retreating PRA convoy after the Battle of Rikijdrottin.

‘Framkvæmd af Morðingjarnir’ - Manell Eduoard, 1874
(Execution Of The Assassins)

A depiction by Gaulic painter Eduoard of the execution of the anarchist saboteurs that attempted to assassinate Duke Hergdor VI in Kajmur. Eduoard was invited to attend the trial, sentencing and execution as a special guest of the Duke and Duchess. He generated a whole series of works based on the events, but this is his most famous work of the series.

(Manuscript of St. Pilicus Monastery)

The only known surviving manuscript of the St. Pilizus Monks was kept in the University Library for ages, in its own exhibit room with tight security. When the Library Security were ejected from the building by RLO special action teams shortly after YSR forces entered the capital, the exhibits were cleared out soon afterwards and loaded wholesale onto trucks.

Estimated Worth: [Undisclosed]

Accession #: GLRU-1732-4-9

Last Known Location: Rikijdrottin University Library, Rikijdrottin

Current Suspected Whereabouts: Unknown. Reported sightings in Arkjelstad, YSR; Ekaterine and Volsk, Falkasia.

‘Reglan Óðins Er Vitur’
(Odin’s Rule is Wise) bronze on marble base, Jodor Hurmundsson, 1783

A good segment of the Glisandian population still adheres to the Norse religion, despite Holy Domain shadow government attempts to wipe out the Norse ‘heathens’. Hurmundsson was a nationally renown artist that did many works officially commissioned by the Duchy. The loss of one of his most famous works is deeply felt.

Estimated Worth: [Undisclosed]

Accession #: GLFC-1822-4-8

Last Known Location: The Færslur, Rikijdrottin

Current Suspected Whereabouts: Unknown. Some reported sightings from Southern Glisandia to Falkasia and even Gragastavia. If certain reports are to be credible, and it had fallen into the hands of the GGA (God’s Glisandian Army, the precursor to the Holy Domain) from a raided YSR convoy, then it likely was destroyed by the fanatical Evangelical Christians as heretic idolatry.

The various ministries, departments and organizations that represent athletics, sport and culture around the region of Astyria decided that it would be in the best interests of all involved Astyrian nations to band together and put forth a unified delegation in their first venture into the Winter Olympics. In some cases, even nations that were recently in dispute with each other have deigned to put aside their differences in order to represent the greater ideal of sport and the cultural exchange that comes through friendly International competition. While bringing some national pride, these athletes ultimately stand as one under the purple and gold flag of Astyria. A new dawn has broken as Astyria looks to the future and casts aside old political divides to advance the region as a whole in the International arena, and come together simply as human brothers and sisters.

The Second NS BobSleigh Championships

The First NS Bobsleigh Championships

The First Championship was held some years ago in Meguroko, but the sport has seen a neglect in the multiverse since that time. However, in deference to past competing bobsled nations, the first host nation of Meguroko, and official athletic records we shall acknowledge that it did occur and is a valid part of the history of the sport and so must hold the title of 'First Championships'. As well, several nations have competed in bobsledding as a component in the greater realm of the Winter Olympics in the multiverse, and this must also be acknowledged. This being said, with the gap in time of the First Championship, and rankings unable to be separated from the Olympic canon, all current rankings for anticipated current competing nations will be set to zero, with all on a level playing field.

ILVA

Brief Overview of Ilva

Ilva, officially the Principality of the Island of Ilva, is an island country in Aeneas comprising an archipelago of seven islands in the Livean Sea. It is the smallest nation in Aeneas, having an area of 295 km² and a population of 34,250. The capital of Ilva is Ferraia, which is also the smallest capital in Aeneas. There are three official languages, Corsican, French and Italian, although English is also commonly spoken. Although a secular state, Ilva is predominantly Roman Catholic.
Ilva's location has given it great strategic importance as a naval base throughout history, and a succession of powers have ruled the islands. Ilva gained independence in 1814.

Ilva is one of the world's major commercial hubs, with the fourth-biggest financial centre and one of the five busiest ports. Its globalised and diversified economy depends heavily on trade, which represents 26 percent of Ilva's GDP. In terms of purchasing power parity, Ilva has the third-highest per capita income in the world. It places highly in international rankings with regard to education, healthcare, and economic competitiveness. Ilva's rapid development has given it significant influence in global affairs, leading some analysts to identify it as a middle power.
The Principality of the Island of Ilva is the founding member of the Community of Microstates.

Government

Ilva is a principality governed under a form of constitutional monarchy. Prince Giovanni I is Head of State and represents Ilva in its international relations.
An elected Senate enacts law. The Prince may veto laws adopted by the Senate. The Prince can call referenda, propose new legislation, and dissolve the Senate, although dissolution of the Senate may be subject to a referendum.

Executive authority is vested in a collegiate government comprising three heads of government, the Consuls, and seven ministers. The heads of government and the other ministers are appointed by the Prince upon the proposal and concurrence of the Senate, thus reflecting the partisan balance of the Senate itself. The constitution stipulates that each member of the government has to hail from a different municipality. The members of the government are collectively and individually responsible to the Senate; the Senate may ask the Prince to remove an individual minister or the entire government.

However, it is also a direct democracy, where voters can propose and enact constitutional amendments and legislation independent of the legislature.

Geography and Administrative Divisions

The Principality of the Island of Ilva exerts sovereignty over the entire Etrurian Archipelago, a chain of islands between the Livean Sea and the Julian Ocean, in the region of Aeneas, south of the Carpentarian Antilles. The archipelago contains the islands of Orgodoro, Capraria, Ilva (the largest island of the group), Planasia, Montegiove, Gilio, and Gianuti; the islands' proximity to several major cities has made them a favourite tourist location. History and literature have ensured that most people are familiar with the islands of Ilva and Montegiove.

Ilva is divided into ten municipalities, known locally as communes, comuni or cumuna: the capital Ferraia and nine minor municipalities: Campo nell'Ilva, Capolibero, Isola del Gilio, Isola di Capraria, Marcianella, Marina di Marcianella, Piaggia di Rio, Porto Longone, Rio nell'Ilva. Roughly one third of Ilva's citizens live in Ferraia.

Economy and Sectors

Ilva has a highly developed market economy, based historically on extended entrepôt trade. According to the Corruption Perceptions Index, Ilva is consistently ranked as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. Ilva attracts a large amount of foreign investment as a result of its location, corruption-free environment, skilled workforce and low tax rates.

Ilva is a world leader in several economic areas: the country is the world's fourth leading financial centre and a major hub for ship repair services. The port is one of the five busiest ports in the world. The World Bank has named Ilva as the easiest place in the world to do business. Tourism also forms a large part of the economy. Ilva is an education hub, and many foreign students study in Ilva.

Demographics and Language

Ilva is the smallest country of Aeneas. It has a population of 34,250; another 12,000 Ilvans live abroad.

Three languages are recognised as official in Ilva: Corsican, French and Italian. Each of the three languages is used as the primary language in certain spheres. Corsican is the language that Ilvans generally use to speak to each other, but it is not often used as the written language. Most official (written) business is carried out in French. Italian is usually the first language taught in school and is the language of much of the media and of the church.

Ilva's education system is trilingual: the first years of primary school are in Corsican, before changing to Italian, while in secondary school, the language of instruction changes to French. Proficiency in all three languages is required for graduation from secondary school. In addition to the three official languages, English is taught in the compulsory schooling and much of the population of Ilva can speak English, especially in Ferraia.
French is the preferred language of the government. Official legislation must be conducted in French.

Religion

Ilva is a secular state, but the state recognises certain religions as officially mandated religions. This gives the state a hand in religious administration and appointment of clergy, in exchange for which the state pays certain running costs and wages. Since 1980 it has been illegal for the government to collect statistics on religious beliefs or practices. An estimation by the NS Factbook for the year 2000 is that 87% of Ilvans are Catholic, including the princely family, the remaining 13% being made up of Jews, Waldensians and those of other or no religion. According to a 2005 poll, 44% of Ilva's citizens responded that "they believe there is a God", whereas 28% answered that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force" and 22% that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, god, or life force".

Culture

The Ilvans have a history of being laid-back and easy-going; this laissez-faire attitude to life in general is characteristic of the Ilvan way of life. In fact, this essentially self-centered attitude caused Ilva to miss out on some major historical events. As a visitor to Ilva, it is important never to sound too formal: phrases such as "thank you" or "excuse me" should be used sparingly. Using them whenever a citizen of another country would be tempted to sounds uptight and stiff, and will distance a visitor from the locals. As a result of its small size, Ilva has been strongly affected by external cultural influences, most notably those originating in Agenor. The Historical Society of the Principality of the Island of Ilva plays a role in preserving the culture and history of the country.

Cuisine

Game such as wild boar is popular, as are seafood and fish. Various delicacies are made from the local pork. Characteristic among the cheeses is ricotta which, when fresh, is used as ingredient in many dishes, from first courses to cakes. Other cheeses are made from goat or sheep milk, including casgiu merzu, a traditional sheep milk cheese, notable for containing live insect larvae. A variety of alcohol also exists ranging from brandy and red and white wines to muscat wine.

Festivals

Carnival has an important place on the cultural calendar. It is held during the week leading up to Ash Wednesday, and typically includes masked balls, fancy dress and grotesque mask competitions, lavish late-night parties, a colourful, ticker-tape parade of allegorical floats presided over by King Carnival, marching bands and costumed revellers. Holy Week starts on Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. Numerous religious traditions, most of them inherited from one generation to the next, are part of the paschal celebrations in the Etrurian Archipelago, honouring the death and resurrection of Jesus. Valentine's Day is one of the most important dates on the Ilvan cultural calendar; its roots, at least in Ilva, can be traced back to the pagan Roman feast of Lupercalia. It is a festival of food, religion and music, featuring torchlight processions, the firing of 100 petards, horseraces, and races for men, women, boys and girls. The ancient ritual in which naked young women received lashes from the whips held by equally naked young men to ensure fertility, prevent sterility in women and ease the pains of childbirth, described by Plutarch, has survived, notwithstanding centuries of opposition by the Church.

On Independence Day, all subjects are invited to the palace of the head of state. A significant portion of the population attends the national celebration at the palace where speeches are made and complimentary wine is served.

Media

The primary internet service provider and mobile network operator of Ilva is Telecom Ilva, located in Ferraia. There is only one television channel in the country, the public service broadcaster Teletruria Ilva, created in 1992. I-Radio, which was established in 2004, serves as Ilva's radio station and is based in Campo nell'Ilva. Ilva also has a newspaper, L'Etruria.

Sport

Association football is the most popular sport in Ilva. Nine teams take part in the country's amateur football championship. The national football team of Ilva played its first unofficial international match in 1986; its first competitive outing was on 14 November 1990. Rugby and sailing are also popular.

Defense

Established in 1842, the Gendarmerie of Ilva is a militarised law enforcement agency. Its members are full-time and have responsibility for the protection of citizens and property, and the preservation of law and order.

It consists of 87 field officers and 38 civilian staff, totaling 125 employees. All officers are equipped with small arms. The country has one of the world's lowest crime rates. Ilva's prison holds few, if any, inmates, and those with sentences over two years are transferred to outer-national jurisdiction. Ilva has one of the smallest military forces in the world. Different branches have varied functions, including: performing ceremonial duties; patrolling borders; mounting guard at government buildings; and assisting police in major criminal cases.

The other branches of the Ilvan Military include The Musket Corps, The Guard of the Sea, The Guard of the Senate, and The Company of Uniformed Militia, (Including The Military Ensemble)

Host City

Image

Ferraia is a town in the Principality of Ilva, on the edge of the eponymous harbour of the island of Ilva. With a population of 12,136 it is the principality's capital and largest city. Because of its terrain, many of its buildings are situated on the slopes of a tiny hill surrounded on three sides by the sea; it was founded in 1548. It has three forts, and is surrounded by a massive line of walls.
Ferraia's economy suffered from the end of mining activities starting from the 1970s, but in the following decades it gained a status as an internationally renowned financial center, tourist resort and trade hub.

Neu Engollian Host Participation

While the event is to be wholly hosted and located within the Principality of Ilva, as official Co-Host, a delegation has been sent by the Confederacy of Neu Engollon to Ilva in order to handle several duties and advise on the sport. This delegation consists of NEBSA and Ministry of Athletics officials and technicians. Neu Engollon has an active bobsledding tradition within its borders, as well as many other winter sports, being that it has a cooler, mountainous climate. The particular duties of the Neu Engollian delegation will be to ensure that the track in Ferraia is up to International dimensions and safety standards for competition, that all teams are compliant with regulations, and that support personnel are well advised on all the particulars, traditions, and safety procedures of the sport. They will also be handling a lot of the timing and scoring of the event, making sure that there are an adequate amount of Ilvan and Neu Engollian personnel monitoring both the start and finish of the runs and the digital chronometers and detection equipment and computers are at top performance. While Neu Engollon has never hosted a bobsledding tournament before, they have hosted the 21st Rugby Union World Cup and also have major experience in the realm with participation in several NS Sports including rugby, football/soccer, hockey, gridiron football, tennis, biathlon, dog sledding, dwile flonking, brob ball, cycling and other athletic competitions, as well as being the annual host for the Alpen View Beer Festival, which is now on its fourth year.

Bobsleigh/sled: The Sport

All relevant information can be found HERE. The Championships in Ilva will consist of both the 2 man and 4 man crew events. Teams can be co-ed. There will not be separate women and mens events.

The Track

Image

The Prince Luigi I track is Ilva's only, and recently built bobsleigh track, named after the late Prince Luigi I, who reigned over Ilva from 1926 to 1997. It is 1,350 metres long, with a vertical drop of 120.45, a maximum grade of 15.9 and 13 curves. The Ilvan national bobsleigh team, widely regarded as the tournament's underdog for hailing from a microstate blessed by a warm Mediterranean climate, usually trains on this track.

OOC Scoring and Scheduling

Scoring will be done using the latest version of Xkroranate Bobsleigh (2 man and 4 man crew) scorinator. Each team will be making two 'heats', or runs, per day, with the aggregate of both run times each day determining their score. The top half will qualify to continue on to the next day (If 20 participants, the top 10 will move on; If 10 nations are participating, then the top 5 nations' teams move on, and so on), where the final heats will be run to determine the medal winners for the Championships in both 2 Man Crew and 4 Man Crew Events. Scoring will be run over two total IC days time: Qualification Day and Final Heat Day; With a few days time pre-heats to post RPs and rosters, and then a day in between each scored heat to also post an RP. Ilva will score the first heat of the day, with Neu Engollon scoring the second heat the following RL day and then the aggregate median score will be figured for qualifying, then for medal placement the Second IC day, this heat scoring schedule will repeat for two more RL days. The schedule should look something like this:

Scorer
RP Time for Players
IC Day
RL Days between
Cut off time
None Yet
Everything thread launch to 24 hr cutoff announcement
Arrival to 1st Qual Day Heat
3-4 Days
Until 1st Heat Quals

Morning Finals Day

600 PM GMT 7th RL Day
Neu Engollon

Afternoon Finals Day

RP Bonus will be the only factor added in to the scoring, beyond the normal randomization that will occur. There is no style modifier for Bobsleigh/sledding. This is why we are giving everyone extra time to RP between each heat (1 full day) in order to rack up as much RP bonus as they can, if they want. Scorers will announce the following days weather prediction at cut off.

RP Bonus and Permissions

RP Bonus will be granted up to an unspecified maximum, with the minimum being zero, and cumulative per scored heat, not day. This includes bonus earned by posting as soon as the IC Everything is launched, before the first scorination, and every successive heat a team is participating. Announcement of the impending IC Championship thread launch will be made in this thread.
Our suggestion is to RP slips, false starts, extra wobbling, track bumps or other external events based upon times and placing of your heats, or possibly based on other players previous RP.

Also, be sure to at least post a roster if no other RP, as some bonus will be granted for them, and quality will be factored in as well. Plus, it is always a nice courtesy as other players can refer to yours by name. Volume, or quantity RP, does not equal quality and being wordy will not guarantee you a higher Bonus RP. Also, as always, keep in mind that ultimately the Random Factor (aka Margaret) has final sway.
While there will likely be little direct physical contact between competing teams during their time on track in this sport, it might be helpful to post RP permissions to ensure that another player does not godmod a permanent, career ending injury to one of your team, or a fatality even, or mess with the track in any way while your team is doing their run.

Attention: Management of Gertner's Cider Mill

We come to you today with a special proposal to lease concessions kitchen bays within The Plumeria Garden. The Plumeria Garden is a 60,280 seat stadium located in Costa Aluria's capital of Mosaic. The stadium, the largest stadium in the Pacific outside of Australia, hosts some 220 sporting, musical, and other events throughout the year. As you are a likely aware, a stadium setting offers exemplary potential for vendors lucky enough to serve the captive audiences. It is into this ripe environment that we formally invite Gertner's Cider Mill to join.

The Plumeria Garden is particularly drawn to Gertner's offering of unique alcoholic beverages to compliment specialty sodas and ales and breus currently being offered as choices within the stadium. It is our belief that Gertner's Cider Mill would perform admirably as the beverage market within the stadium has few competitors. Even more so, The Plumeria Garden operates with a minimum competition clause for our concessions vendors. This clause allows vendors to designate signature menu items, ensuring that no more than two individual vendors serve similar items. Gertner's Cider Mill would be able to designate the category of "cider." Due to this minimum competition clause, alcoholic vendors in the stadium are afforded a large advantage for sales. While the investment cost to operate in a stadium is admittedly a large barrier, we believe that potential sales will far outweigh these costs.

We would be honored to have Gertner's Cider Mill operate within The Plumeria Garden, and we humbly ask your management to consider applying for up to two concessions kitchen bays within the stadium. Applications may be found on our storefront page. We patiently await your response.

With all respect,
Idris Robinson, Concessions Director, The Plumeria Garden
