There wouldn't happen to be a logo for the World Bowl someone has created, would there?

I know I made...something for World Bowl 3. Lemme look it up and I'll edit this post. Gone, and that was before I switched computers. Even so, there wasn't an "official" or standard World Bowl logo.

Just wondering...I've been cleaning up and standardizing the World Bowl articles on WikiStates, and as part of that I created an Infobox template--and if there were a logo, I thought it might be nice to include it in the infobox.

Hey I know you have been saying July for World Bowl 7 and I know that makes sense for training camps and all, but it seems like we could get a good World Bowl going in like mid-June. Just a thought!

I guess if we started going this week, we could wrap up around the first week of July. You might have an issue with there not being a lot of time between tournaments.

Speaking of which, are we bringing all of the threads and the tournament over? I probably should find out before I work on my domestic league.

All future World Bowls will be played on this forum, and we should probably start the domestic newswire thread here as well.
As for starting another World Bowl so soon in the offseason, I was unsure of, so I thought training camp time would be best. Then Nationstates moved to a new forum and people are signing up like mad for the World Cup making me wonder what kind of a number we can get here. So I guess the question is, is there a host out there that would do it now (or soon)?

Allanea, certainly you can participate in this!

To the extent that it furthers the discussion, you can count at least one more person in favor of a mid-June/early-July time frame, simply because I'll be out for a week in late July and wouldn't be able to RP.

Also, I've created an infobox for the World Bowl articles on Wikistates at http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/Template:Infobox_World_Bowl; you can see it in action at http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/Gridiron_World_Championships or http://wikistates.outwardhosting.com/wiki/World_Bowl_I. Input on changes to the content or formatting of the infobox are welcome--here or (preferably) on the discussion page for the Infobox--and feel free to make changes yourself; it's a wiki, anyone can contribute and if you break something it's easy to roll back your changes.

Looks like we will be having Baptism of Iron 2, which Arroza has offered to host. He raises a good question, do we want to allow only first timers, or allow the nations who have participated before but have no World Bowl points? (The latter would allow Bettia and Holy Marsh participation while the former would not).

I also think that time has come to set up an official World Bowl Committee, with President, with specific rules about who’s WBC eligible. It’s been discussed before that we would do it if it got popular enough, and it’s heading in that direction.

Qazox, if you are out there, I also recommend this now for the World Baseball Classic. I foresee high numbers for the next one of those as well.

I'd suggest waiting one or two more cycles for that. It's possible that this surge in interest (obviously, 20 or so signups in less than a day is quite a lot) is just due to the new boards' novelty factor, which may have worn off once the next World Bowl rolls around. It won't hurt to keep it ad hoc for just a couple more, and if the expanded interest does last, we can institute something then.

That's not to say we can't start making plans for how this committee would look and operate, just that I think we should hold off on implementing it lest we burden ourselves with a bureaucracy that we don't need just yet.

I'm not necessarily pulling for either option; whatever y'all think is best. I'm just excited to do a sports RP finally.

Questions: When do you want rosters? Will the rosters be taken into account?

Bluth Corp.- I guess I am just a lot more optimistic then you are. I think the impact of having the word "forum" on the sidebar that is not attached to jolt, and then a sports forum that people will immediately see when they click on that is going to be long-lasting. There might be high turnover with new nations in each one, but I do believe this is going to be much more common like this.

Holy Marsh- It's going to be a little while before the official competition thread is created. At the earliest, it will be after the host is determined, and that won't be until the second week of June, following the end of the vote. So they aren't needed now or immediately, but given the size of football rosters, it's a not bad idea to work on one and save it on whatever Word Processing software you use. (especially if you don't have a prior one to reference).

If I were to completely estimate a start date at this point I'd say the week of June 22nd. But this would all be up to the host, and depending on how long the Baptism of Iron ended up being.

I agree.

I was referring to a more official World Baseball Classic Committee. Something to think about right now. I'm quite optimstic about the influence the new forums, and a specific sports forum is going to have on numbers of participants.

I agree with you. But Since the next WBC isn't going to happen for until at least July, I'm not overly worried about that right now. But it does need to be done.

I'll start on somewhat of a Consitution this week for it. (ya might need one in here also...)

If I may be so bold, I wouldn't go down that route for the World Bowl, WBC (Baseball, Basketball, Boxing? Let us n00bs know what your acronym means) or anything else that isn't the NSWC. As I just mentioned in the WCDT (yes, an acronym, har har) it's only the size, complexity and ferocity of the World Cup and its players that requires all them rules. When the tournaments get to, say, around the tenth edition, that's when you can write up a paragraph or two of informal rules that you've adopted over the tournaments; debating about how everything's going to work when a tournament is still finding its feet is a generally good way to sink it.

Not that I'm saying it should be like the Cherry Cup, where everything was radically different from one Cup to the next and silliness was paramount, but let the World Bowl's own traditions spring up of their own accord before you set them in stone.

Welcome to the World Bowl Discussion Thread, the signup thread is ... (ok, I won't get carried away) :p

All kidding aside, thank you for offering your opinion here as I highly value your knowledge of the way things work in these tournaments. I don't want to go overboard with rules or a full-scale constitution as you wrote up on the World Cup Discussion thread, that's not needed now. A World Bowl Committee, I think is good at this point, as with up to three possible hosting bids, there should be some kind of guidelines on who can vote for it.

Other then that, we can put the specific rules on hold. It's my tendency to think too much in the long term getting me again!
