Gordonopia Premier League
2013 Season Preview

Football in Gordonopia couldn't be better as the nation prepares for the second season of the Gordonopia Premier League.

The national team, fresh off of a stunning 2-0 victory over 6th in the world Valanora, has captured the attention of even the few who ignore football. Nineteen of the team's players represent twelve domestic clubs. As qualification continues, these stars at home will gain valuable experience for their own benefit, while providing endless excitement for the fans of Gordonopia.

In UICA competition, two teams continue to compete. FC Deska, winner of last year's regular season, recently defeated Cosumar club Eastweald to advance to the Preliminary stage. Kaje Football, meanwhile, has defied the odds and made it all the way to the group stage of the TakilQuip Champions Cup following four straight wins, with a stunning average of four goals per match.

Finally, Gordonopia is seeing the arrival of its first internationals. Seven players hailing from four nations have found themselves filling various roles at Kaje Football, the Kjeldor Knights, Teva FC and Willingham AC. These players certainly have the potential to shake up the league, bringing with them new styles of play and potentially interest from abroad. With last year's top forwards now playing for foreign clubs, will one of these players move in to fill the void?

Click here for statistics on all teams, as well as starting 11 rosters

Teams to Watch

FC Deska
Last year, the perennial contenders managed to lead the table at the conclusion of the regular season, but fell short of the title after a breakdown in the Gordonopia Cup Semifinal. The defensive titans still managed to clinch third, and with their recent performance in the Globe Cup, Deska has shown that that game may have simply been a fluke. The fact that five Deska players made it onto the national team, three on the starting eleven, only serves to strengthen Deska's case as a frontrunner for the season.

Kaje Football
Champions of the most recent Gordonopia Cup, Kaje Football is floating on top of the Gordonopian football world. Losing last year's Golden Boot winner, Jere Tobias, to Juvillian Martinax of Erathore hasn't seemed to dampen their fire, as shown by their success in the Champions Cup. Kaje has also brought in two internationals to shore up their already impressive domestic lineup, most notably Roman Galoslon, an up and coming attacking midfielder from Erathore. Going in to the season, it seems that Kaje Football may establish itself as the offensive powerhouse to counter FC Deska.

Willingham AC
Though Willingham was only promoted this year, it already appears to be a potential contender for the season. Not only did one of its players, left back Fritz Cole, make the National Team, the team also snagged one of this year's incoming internationals, Orzaize Lizaran of Iturributa. Furthermore, its status as the Emperor's personal favorite team is sure to bring attention to this once modest squad.

(OSR) Grasshoppers Turic 2–4 Fontvielle Impact (VLD) 2–1 0–3

Despite winning just one match out of six in the knockout stage, Fontvielle Impact scraped their way through to the final for the third time in five seasons, and in the process have become the most dominant club in the history of the coëfficient ranking (which, conveniently, takes the last five seasons into account), tallying over 150 points. Polarian champions SK Franz Josef City took an early tour of the facilities at Yuba United’s Alesanka Park, then defeated the six-time winners at home and away as part of an impressive knockout campaign that earned them a return trip to Paripana to face the Impact. Les Bleus were the only Valladar club to have claimed the title of world champion when they did so three seasons ago, while the Griffons will seek to match the achievements of domestic rivals East Franz Athletic, who lifted this trophy and the Super Cup just two seasons ago.

Élite League 2220–21

The off-the-pitch highlight of the season was a secret meeting of executives from several top football clubs in Bedistan, reportedly including Yuba United, in Sonoma City, allegedly for the purpose of forming a new Bedistan Football Association and reëstablishing the Bedistani Cup. According to the rumors, this is intended to rekindle interest in their local rivalries; however, it is unclear how clubs would reconcile this new competition with their existing affiliations. The PSC declined to comment on the speculation on the grounds that it was just that.

Élite League One
Sonoma Center Panthers led the league by one point over Yuba United and Natestadt Nationalisten with nine matches left to play. What could go wrong? Everything.

They drew with Cordubovica, lost to Forest Hill and Humai, lost to Sorastadt, opening up a nine-point chasm which grew in spectacular fashion as the Panthers fell 6–0 away to CF Aéropag, bolstering le Bleu-et-Orange in their efforts to reach the Globe Cup for the first time in over a decade. A win at home against Sokojiwa Dosi provided the Anaphasian giants with little relief as they went on to lose their last three, including a final-day defeat at the hands of a Qidade Savana who were at an all-time low, having failed to qualify for UICA competition for the first time since there was such a thing (they were relegated once, but went on to qualify for the Series B Champions’ Cup courtesy of Paripanan football’s non-standard scheduling at the time). Instead it was Yuba United who claimed the league crown for only the second time in twenty-two years, adding that trophy to their Champions’ Cup, Super Cup, and Aeropag Football Invitational triumphs in their most successful season since the famous Quadruple they won in the Champions’ Cup’s first edition.

Paripana Open Cup

The Paripana Open Cup ballooned to over six hundred clubs with the addition of clubs from Jasĭyun’s new fifth-tier league as well as a small contribution from the IdrottsLiga av Högklackat, an association representing a complex in the northern Penguinatan town which has become the second provisional member of the Paripana Sporting Council to take part. The PSC responded to the increasing numbers by adding a fourth qualifying round to pare down the field before Élite League clubs enter the fray; it made little difference to the ILH, whose six clubs all failed to advance from their initial qualifying ties. The shock of the tournament came at the quarterfinal stage, when Yuba United returned to the scene of their Invitational success and delivered a 5–0 thumping to CF Aéropag. The Silver-Blues went on to beat Yûpo CCK, Élite League champions of three seasons ago, to finally bring the Open Cup home to Yuba and embark on their inaugural Cygnus Cup adventure. The sporting media were unable to come to a clear conclusion as to whether Yuba United’s season constitutes a treble (Champions’ Cup, Élite League, Paripana Open Cup), quadruple (including the Aeropag Football Invitational), or quintuple (tacking on the Super Cup), but all could agree that, through the minor detail of their quarterfinal elimination from the Capitalizt SLANI Cup, this season falls short of the sterling and blue image of perfection evoked by the 2144 Quadruple.

Fontvielle Impact wins the Super Cup on goal difference at the second time of asking. Valladares becomes the first association not among the participants in the pilot edition of the Champions’ Cup to win three UICA competitions in the same season.

Updated coëfficients are now available.

The entry limits for the next season of UICA competition will be as follows:
Champions’ Cup 41: The number of teams allowed is determined according to association coëfficients, with the following distribution:
  • Associations ranked 1–3 (Cafundéu, Valladares, and Capitalizt SLANI) are allowed to enter four teams.
  • Associations ranked 4–6 (Polar Islandstates, Aguazul, Estresse Intenso) are allowed to enter three teams.
  • Associations ranked 7–28 (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, Valanora, Jasĭyun, Zarbli, Astograth, Krytenia, Whirl Islands, Queer Poco el Mono Ara, Osarius, Pasarga, West Zirconia, Civil Citizenry, The Babbage Islands, Darmen, Turori, Erathore, Vilita, Eastfield Lodge, Taeshan, Chenkorya, Saugeais, and Carmadin) are allowed to enter two teams.
  • Associations ranked 29 and below, and unranked associations, are allowed to enter one team.
  • Special considerations:
    • Fontvielle Impact is assured a place as the title holder. If it fails to qualify for one of Valladares’s four places, it will replace the fourth-placed team.
    • Élite League: Has six places. Capitalizt SLANI must enter at least three teams, and Jasĭyun at least one.
    • V-League: Has four places, which must be filled by teams from at least two separate associations.
    • SBFF: Has two places, which must be filled by teams from two separate associations.
Globe Cup 38: Every association is allowed to enter three teams. Multiassociational leagues may enter six teams, of which no more than four may be from the same association.
Series B Champions’ Cup 38: Every association is allowed to enter four teams. Multiassociational leagues may enter eight teams, of which no more than six may be from the same association.

The deadline for entry to Champions’ Cup 41 and Series B Champions’ Cup 38 is tentatively set for Sunday, 2012-07-15.

Cygnus Cup XV

The 15th Cygnus Cup sees yet another record number of entrants, with 38 teams from 38 associations, an increase of two associations from last season. Defending champions Firewood City won their national cup, thus qualifying them through the spot allocated to the Osarius association.

With 38 teams involved, the complicated preliminary rounds of the last two Cygnus Cups are no longer needed. There will be 12 teams taking part in a Playoff Round, with the remaining 26 teams qualifying directly to the first round.

The 14th Cygnus Cup welcomes a record 37 teams from 36 associations, an increase of four from the last edition. Eight teams have been granted byes to the first round proper; eight teams to the playoff round; and 11 teams to the second preliminary round. There will be three qualifying rounds before the first round proper this edition.

All eyes will be on Firewood City to see if they can successfully defend their trophy, though Yuba United, in their inaugural Cygnus Cup campaign, may be looking to upset the odds.

The final of Cygnus Cup 15 will be held at Bridge Road, Oldbridge, Ad’ihan (LLF), capacity 92,000. Bridge Road is one of the four most important stadia in Ad’ihan. Home to Oldbridge City, it hosted the TQCC12 final, and hosted World Cup finals matches during World Cups 37, 41, and 46 (including a World Cup 46 semifinal). At a capacity of 92,000 it is currently the second-largest in the country (behind only the national Protectorate Stadium). It features multiple concourse areas serving stadium grub and international gourmet food, and a number of restaurants located within the stadium have won prestigious awards. Of the 92,000 seats, 16,000 are corporate boxes, with another 4,000 held for neutral fans. The remaining 72,000 seats are split into 62,000 for home fans and 10,000 for away fans.

The first leg of the 2013 Gordonopian Premier League has just come to a close, and although there have been a few big surprises, many of the results thus far have been fairly predictable

For starters, the fact that Kaje Football is currently atop the rankings has left very few fans bewildered. Last year's Gordonopia Cup Champions, fourth place in the regular season by three points and some goals, stirred up widespread popular support during their astonishing run in the TakilQuip Champions Cup. The team entered in the first round of playoffs, and made it all the way to the final 32 group stage; an exceedingly rare feat for a club from an association new to UICA. This quelled many of the fears raised by fans following the departure of last year's Golden Boot winner, Jere Tobias, to Juvillian Martinax of Erathore. In its first 10 games, Kaje has managed an astonishing 8 wins, with its only loss coming in the 8th week to Zuzelt Steel. The second place team, Latimere United, sits eight points back.

Among the remainder of the table-toppers, there are several standouts. To begin with, Latimere United's second place spot has spurred the attention of its supporters following last year's disappointing 10th place finish. Several big wins, including a 5-0 beatdown of Zuzelt Steel (which went on to hand Kaje football its only loss the next week) have brought an energy to the territory that hasn't been seen since the days of the old GFA.

Willingham AC's 6th place standing has given strong support to many who defended the implementation of the relegation system last year. Based out of Willingham, the team grew to popularity as the favorite team of HM Emperor William VII, and after several big victories for its roster, including a player on the national team and an international signing, the team drew a significant amount of pre-season attention. The Imperial Guardian placed the club 7th in its pre-season power rankings; within the cutoff for the Gordonopia Cup.

The biggest standout among top-flight teams isn't a positive improvement, or a successful newcomer; it's the fact that last year's regular season leader FC Deska is in only 5th place at 4-3-2. Following a decent performance at the Globa Cup in the off season, and a 3rd place finish in the Gordonopia Cup, many expected a higher ranking. Fans and several analysts pointed out, however, that the defensive powerhouse has a penchant for late-season performances. At the same point in 2012, the team was ranked only 7th, and it wasn't until their last game that Deska claimed the spot at the top of the charts. Others have also pointed to the fact that a number of Deska players, five to be precise, have had to balance GPL play with World Cup qualification matches.

On the individual side, there have been several player standouts. International players have performed exceedingly well, with three making the most impact. Roman "Galdhino" Galoslon has thus far been a stunning playmaker for league-leader Kaje, having a hand in just over half of the teams 31 goals. With six goals to his credit, and a further ten assists, the Erathi attacking midfielder seems to have proven himself to be an integral part of the team's soaring offense.

A pair of backs playing for the Kjeldor Knights, meanwhile, have helped solidify the defense, keeping the Knights to a league low seven goals against. Apel Lekea of Astograth and Boris Halth of Falconwhereveryouare are currently starting as left and center backs respectively, and thus far have done a magnificent job of filling in the gaps left by Matty Paige and Howard Still, both of whom left for foreign clubs following the 2012 season.

Domestic players, meanwhile, have had their own successes. Vonn Keller, striker for Kaje Football, is currently the favorite for Golden Boot with a massive 12 goals and two assists.

Norm Bates, homegrown favorite attacking midfielder of West Tolten, has participated in all but three of the team's 18 goals, scoring seven of his own.

Gerard Vance, 40 year old keeper for Latimere United, has proven to be responsible for much of his team's success. Several wins have come by a narrow one goal margin following strong offense by the opposing team, and in the first nine games, he let in only 10 goals, a number that has surprised many, given Vance's age. In the week 10 3-4 loss to Teva, Vance was out for illness.

Thanks to the successes of FC Charge and Seendok Shells, Charge advancing to the group stage of the Champion's Cup, Shells to the group stage of the Globe Cup, Carmadin has scraped up the right to enter 2 teams in the Champion's Cup for the forty-first running. Once the news was announced and celebrated, attention turned to the upcoming season, and speculation grew about who would win the two spots. Would FC Charge reclaim their title? Would Seendok Shells, who had never finished outside the top two spots, falter? Could Northeastern, a team always in contention, but never able to pull through, finally make it? Will the upstart Cahrsinleh Devils make a run? Will one of the newly promoted teams suprise?
It's time to find out.

A 2-0 heartbreaker raises questions about Kihxaw Jahp's ability and age (but everybody still loves him), and may be an omen of things to come. Northeastern stays up from with a dominant 3-0 performance against FC Peniclado.

Mount T Ye T 2–0 Outpost Pioneers
FC Peniclado 1–0 Abo Abo
Minelmeni Tigers 0–2 Northeastern
Arksin Football Club 0–1 Elcahnd Heat
Chahr North Stars 0–1 FC Charge

Northeastern stays a step ahead of the competition, the only team so far to win each one of their games, as Cahrsinleh falls to the faltering Shells. FC Charge shows why they're the only Carmadin Club to advance past the Champion's Cup preliminaries, as they drop the once-powerful Chahr North Stars to fifteenth place.

First Round replays

Chahr Senators 3-2 Sortwood Town
Volcano SK 2-0 Desert FC

Matchday Five:

FC Charge 3–1 Cahrsinleh Devils
Elcahnd Heat 0–1 Chahr North Stars

Mehnsihn Gladiators 1–0 Mount T Ye T
Shared Land Freedom 1–5 Sho Athletic Club
Seendok Shells 0–2 Shihn'Dohm Island FC

Northeastern are five games through the season, and they've won all five of them. They round off the first sixth of the season with a 4-1 crushing of Arksin Football Club, giving them an incredible 19 goals in four games. Seendok is once again shocked by a newly promoted team, losing 0-2 to Shihn'Dohm Island FC. The Shells have never been this low (10th) before.

As the second leg draws to a close, some teams seem to be settling down, while other are just starting to heat up.

Still at the top of the table, but only by a single win, is Kaje Football, who have gone 4-2-3 in the last ten matches, a far cry from their incredible 8-1-1 start. Despite this apparent slowdown, the Bahar territory-based team has managed some key victories, including a 4-1 fixture over current 3rd placed Latimere United in week 14. Unless the team has an absolutely uncharacteristic breakdown before the end of the season, at least qualifying for the Gordonopia Cup should be assured.

In contrast, Teva FC seems to be in the middle of a hot streak. After ending the last leg in seventh, the lone team from the Empire's second largest metro area has gone 7-2-1 to rocket into the second place spot. This has greatly invigorated the team's widespread fanbase, who were crushed by a final-game draw in stoppage in 2012 that prevented them from advancing to the post-season.

Another team that seems to be on the rise is Fusba United, which finished the first leg in dead last. After going 5-2-2 since then, the team has risen into the seventh spot; easily in contention for the post-season. Notable victories, including a 2-1 match over the then third place Kjeldor Knights in week 11, and a 3-1 result over fellow-riser Teva FC on matchday 13, have legitimize the rise as something more than a series of victories over other struggling squads.

Continuing with the theme of high-performing internationals, Itzaina Erreka of Astograth has established himself as a key element of Teva FC's ascent. The 30 year old has six goals and an assist in the past five games alone, including a hat trick in the fast-paced 6-4 victory over München SV in week 18. Thus far, Erreka has earned ten goals and three assists, and if his performance continues, he will certainly establish himself as one of the preeminant strikers in the league.

Speaking of strikers, Kaje Football's dynamic duo of Vonn Keller and Erathi international Roman Galoslon seem to be continuing their hot streak, despite their team's slowdown. The former is so far up to a stunning 19 goals, with four assists, while the latter is leading the league in assists, at 15, complimenting his 10 individual goals.

This number puts both in contention for the Golden Boot, which is awarded for the best overall offensive player, rather than simply the most goals. Other frontrunners include Gordon Brink of Latimere United, with 12 goals and nine assists, and national team captain Norm Bates of West Tolten, 14 assists and 11 goals.

For the golden glove, by far the leading keeper is Dale Keller of the Kjeldor Knights, who has kept his squad down to 16 goals against in 18 games. This has kept the knights in the sixth spot, despite an anemic offense that has lost starting striker Gary Knox until at least week 25, and which has scored a mere 21 goals thus far. Three other goalies have managed to keep their teams down to 22 goals; Ludwig Struass of FC Deska, Jakob Bruhn of Kaje Football and Russell Osbourne of Willingham AC.

Questions and Answers, day by day:

Matchday One: Can Ungalb Devsgrybe repeat?
Can they? Yes. Will they? On their "not the best Ungalb in the league" form? No, with Gultpyret getting their season off to an unreal start in the takedown of the champions. Shayv Brang scored one and Barkel Rashith (no relation to the host midfielder) the other, before Ile Maxik's desperate rally back.

Matchday Two: What happened to Mayl Inthreapa?
Some say a "scorination bug" that also bit Brayntel, although almost imperceptibly in the latters' case. Those peering into the crystal balls (or parallel universes?) suggest, however, that in a perfect world where Ungalb Devsgrybe would actually win the title on the level, their crosstown rivals would still come in eleventh, and therefore it suffices to carry on as we were due to being lazy or something.

We're not sure what this means. What we do know is that Reamlad's age has probably caught up with her, and both sets of nidjfoges are fraying. Kealast Nulbyd has been injured and while Brod Helay plays on, it's not the same; meanwhile, Rithin Klayb and Artin Gonelee are squabbling off the pitch and manager Stef Hadlee can't get them under control.

The point is, it's a perfect storm, and that was certainly on display when they capitulated at the home leg of the derby. No comebacks necessary this time around; by the time Paita Vondas had dragged Buzhrumpus onto the scoreboard, they were three-nil down and a Tearim Hayz shot made it finish 4-1. Ouch.

Matchday Three: Best derby?
Well, if the Devsgrybe derby isn't going to be that competitive anymore, maybe...Attereg? Neither Bloyben side is exactly that competitive...right?

Then again, there's always the old capital derby to watch. Perntav Marna had the better of it, with Stob Heayander rushing forward to take the lead against the run of play and Earyk Puve adding on in the eightieth minute. This means they go jointly top in yet another old-timers' day affair, tying, yes, Ronthand. They'll be kicking themselves for not taking more from newcomers Passkay, who rallied back from Tubis Meanlee's opener with a Likkel Sease shot and then spent most of the game boringly passing it around.

Matchday Four: What will become of Moser Ranthin?
Okay, a bonus question, Who is Moser Ranthin? A player? A manager? The referee, in fact, in charge of the Ousteeble-Brandith clash. Now, it was a rather one-sided match, with a Klove Barshel brace and goals for Paita Rinth and Aleash Allagondee. So it wasn't like Ranthin will draw criticism for blowing a close call. But the cutaway shots to Glone Naniss (boardroom dude at Brandith) in the visitors' suites showed that Brandith-esque sketchiness. Look out.

Ousteeble are top now, as Ronthand drew with Attereg and a flairy Reamlad equalizer gave Buzhrumpus a point against Perntav Marna. Last week's leaders are tied for fifth. Attereg are avoiding the drop zone on goal difference. Buzhrumpus are two goals behind them.

Matchday Five: Can we, like, bribe some people at the citizenship office?
Our fifth leader in five weeks (Brantslaybel were first) take it in style, felling Ousteeble to claw their way onto the top. And it's Stroyfungul GU, whose nidjfoges (well, and whatever we're calling this midfield) are working in style. Teav Rettin, somewhat overshadowed but still on the younger side, scored the first goal on a header before Raysil McFree set up Doncher Maygul for the second. In between, Klayf Gull had made a nice clearance of another Allagondee attempt. They're not making it look easy anymore, exactly, but they sure do make it look fun.

Matchday Six: Other than providing an awesome league, how will Akkerplot! make itself known?
By sponsoring Red Star Severney of the FPIFA Federation League. Thanks for asking :)

That is to say, no lead change this week. Attereg, who are missing Tykel Marsinee on the bench more than they expected, at least got out of the drop zone they'd fallen into by a 4-1 takedown of Nithgard, with Ipe Hengel, Moygel Hempner, Kayra Barten, and Jef Morayn all scoring.

Matchday Seven: What do you focus on in a scoreless draw?
Well, whatever you want, obviously, but three different opportunities provided three different focus points. Perntav Marna and Stivarnel were mostly cautious sides; the former controlled possession but weren't able to muster off many shots, while the latter were quicker to rush forward and then give the ball away again. Assertham TU and Atteregav Numa provided some inspired goalkeeping in the forms of Tuke Maylean and Sharnis Aylkee, both women and both showing off the "better to be in position and scare your opponents from shooting, rather than actually have to make any saves" school today. (Granted, this is Assertham and Atteregav Numa, they're usually too scared to take shots anyway. But still, trust me, the goalkeeping was good.) And then you have Passkay cheekily shutting up shop against an infuriated Buzhrumpus, where the viewing highlights would probably be Hadlee's decreasingly-concealed rage. Mayl Inthreapa are tied for twelfth now and still above Passkay, who are a goal ahead of Assertham, while Numa are dead last.

Matchday Eight: Wait, when did Ousteeble go top?
Last week, while we were exploring the glories of a scoreless draw.

They're still there after beating Perntav Marna, though Stroyfungul aren't slouching either with a nice win at home against Ungalb Devsgrybe. Kaysor Enthrak scored the first a few minutes into the second half and Toyvin Vish quickly followed that up.

Matchday Nine: How can Assertham break the curse?
To hear the new bandwagon scream at full time, you'd think that they hadn't just fallen into last place. Which they did. Brayntel, the only team behind them, shut up Stroyfungul behind a Moyer Kayns effort, while Assertham only drew. So they're last.

On the other hand, they had just held Ousteeble to a draw, with a late Moyna Hayris effort making up for Klove Barshel's opener. Diehards (or scoreboard watchers) still believe it's too good to be relevant, and they might be on to something--if you're cursed from having players die at the club, you can't exactly bring them back to break with. I don't know. Maybe Nithgard are secretly training zombies or something, they were distracted enough to let Parvin Wode and Buzhrumpus beat them.

Matchday Ten: Perntav Marna: Perntmakers?
Quite possibly. They hosted, and lost to, Stroyfungul, who went top (on goal difference ahead of Nithgard, and head-to-head ahead of Ousteeble) behind goals from Vish and Maygul. Stroyf's offense is really clicking, although not the leagues's best; that honor currently belongs to Brandith, who have conceded just as many and thus have the worst defense as well. And in both cases, it's the teams on twenty goals in second place. Ronthand and Attereg GU (in the top half now, for the first time all year!) are tied with Stroyf for offensive firepower, while the second-leakiest have been...um...sixteenth-placed Mayl Inthreapa.

Matchday Eleven: So, what about the lowest goal totals?
The worst offenses belong to Assertham and Paysban, neither known for their attacking might and neither of whom added to their five this week. The former were slightly more skillful in holding the leaders to one goal, from Mardj Gull. The latter were shut out by the team with the best defensive mark; Rogglebo are the only ones to allow less than one goal per game (though Stroyfungul, Ousteeble, and Perntav Marna all have exactly one goal per game, so far).

The Bloyben derby was not quite as thrilling as a few years ago, but Bloyben is the new Attereg--both teams in the top seven! Missing Belb Inmora up front, the hosts took a while to recover from goals from Tubis Mershel and Lakee Varnel before Sylef Reands and Fef Molander tied it up.

Matchday Twelve: How do tiebreakers work?
Sure, there's "just" two teams tied for the lead now, but three tied for the safety of fifteenth (if you'll remember Paysban...) so perhaps it's worth a review. Goal difference first, then head-to-head. Nothing about goals scored here. We are a tolerant people open to a wide variety of tactical strategies such as those employed by recent champions Ousteeble.

Although, to be fair, having Ousteeble draw scorelessly with Ronthand was probably not in the plan.

Meanwhile, it's Buzhrumpus hopeful on fifteenth, Brayntel a goal back on sixteenth, last season's surprise packages Atteregav Numa looking out of their depth and a goal back on seventeenth. (That said, if you had told them they'd be tied with Mayl Inthreapa they'd probably have taken you up on it before news of this bug came through.)

Assertham are five points behind. At least they don't look poised to complicate things.

Matchday Thirteen: Is playing for the win the way to win?
Going into this round, only two teams were yet to draw--and they were the joint leaders, Stroyfungul and Nithgard. Now, only one is yet to draw, after Stroyfungul were stymied by Passkay. If they had any players on their team that were particularly likeable this would be a little easier to stomach. In fact they're not utterly defensive but tall left-back Rokin Daf is a rather compulsive time-waster, so that helps.

Nithgard, however, had an in principle more difficult task against a team that is utterly defensive; Ousteeble. And for the first hour it seemed like another draw was in the works and the tie at the top would remain. But then in the seventy-first, Pesser Hast gave Kaynd the lead. Ousteeble came to life and produced some rather uncharacteristic attempts towards the end of the game, but nothing came of it. Nithgard, so long mired in sixth, take the league lead.

Matchday Fourteen: But what if those tiebreakers aren't enough?
No word from the offices of the powers that be, unnervingly for Brayntel and Buzhrumpus, now inseparable on fifteenth. Brayntel got there thanks to a Joundra Aslyk shot that was the only goal against Brantslaybel. Mayl Inthreapa were somewhat unfortunate to run into an annoyed Atteregav Numa deciding they were sick of this whole drop-zone business, with Moskee Ranis and Typel Long's goals coming in quick succession before Ranis added another.

Matchday Fifteen: Do you want to hold onto some of those?
Attereg GU's visit to Assertham TU looked set to be a taut 1-0 victory, with Kayra Barten scoring their only goal. Then towards the end they came to life some more, with Moygel Hempner and Duif Brayl scoring to provide more goals. Attereg now lead the league in scoring and their goal differential of +10 is as good as leaders Nithgard and twice that of Ronthand TU. Only problem? Ronthand are still two points above Attereg for fifth (although they might have had a thrilling win, only for Ungalb Devsgrybe to score two necessary late goals from Hayz and Ile Nayn to win 4-3). Pacing, guys.

Matchday Sixteen: How many teams are, or will there be, in Attereg?
Before we can get to that question, let's revisit last week's: an emphatic yes! A scoreless draw at home in the Attereg derby can't have been the result Attereg were hoping for; they slip to seventh now, behind (and with a somewhat better goal differential than) both Bloyben sides.

After last season's dream showing, Numa are looking very tentative themselves, though they're at least a point clear of the drop. To be fair, it's looking very tight down there; four points separate eleventh place (Brandith) from seventeenth (um, Buzhrumpus).

Matchday Seventeen: Storm with their eyes on the prize?
We told you that Nithgard were the last team without a draw, and they've been held to their first at the halfway point. They were in fact controlling posession against Brayntel, but some cynical fouls stopped play a lot and the game finished scorelessly. They'll sulk, but amazingly, that was the best result of the top four.

Sill, they're two points ahead of Ungalb Devsgrybe. Ousteeble and Stroyfungul round up the Globe Cup places at this point; Passkay, Buzhrumpus, and Assertham comprise the other end. The best attack belongs to Ronthand, whose Molander scored against Perntav Marna today. Best defense is Rogglebo, the new Numa who sit in ninth place after a very surprising win: within ten minutes they forced an own goal from Charden Maris of Ungalb Devsgrybe and then held firm! Worst defense is Brandith, who sulked after Mayl Inthreapa put up three against them, and worst offense...well, um, today was a good day for 1-0s, wasn't it? Assertham visited Passkay GU and Leppel Deam racked up the visitors' eleventh of the year. And Hyr Grean gave Paysban their eleventh...after beating Shenlake Parkins of Ousteeble!

Oh, and Barkel Rashith found the only goal for Ungalb Gultpyret against Stroyf.

Should be a good second half, then, if anybody wants to win...

Matchday Eighteen: Aren't Ousteeble supposed to go top, now?
Er, nope. Yet another 1-0 upset, this time to Atteregav Numa (almost back in the top half!). Ranis provided the only goal there. Oh, and speaking of 1-0s, another win for Assertham behind a Hayris goal saw them leave the basement. That's cute.

Matchday Nineteen: Is one game enough?
You just have to think that the momentum will change after a pair of this week's matches. Could either have accomplished that much on their own? Maybe. Maybe not. Or maybe the momentum won't change and the losers will bounce back, the winners will get complacent, whereas perhaps with one the margins would have been slimmer and the momentum would still carry...

Anyway, we should probably start with the games, and should probably start with the 1-0 upset.

That came from...er, previously-seventeenth Assertham. Against previously-first Nithgard. This time around a cheap shot from Nayz Harsith was all it took, and while the goal wasn't even that good, the defensive performances on display from Kayv Dopper and Markel Sind certainly were. Three deserved points, and one big tally mark in the curse-breaking tally. They're fifteenth now!

The other game...well, it was 1-0 at one point. That is, Ile Maxik scored the first goal of the came.

And then Ungalb Devsgrybe scored three more times to dominate the derby.

It was that bad. Nayn had a brace before defender Teaden Amsee loped up towards the home fans to rub salt in the wound. Buzhrumpus swap places with Assertham, and it's hard to see them recovering after this showing.

But we'll have to see.

Matchday Twenty: Is cursebreaking that easy?
Sure looks like it. Assertham racked up what's actually their fourth 1-0 win in a row (including over Passkay on Matchday Seventeen), this time Hayris reverting to type as their only solid threat up front. The win came over Rogglebo, who fall into another statistical tie. They almost didn't, because the team they're tied with are Perntav Marna, who were comfortably 2-0 up in their road leg of the derby. But in injury time, they decided they needed to be a little more interesting and Baysen Ated went ahead and scored once more to pull their goal difference up to -2.

Matchday Twenty-one: What about the UICA stuff?
Okay, the real question is "how do you time sync," but shush. Ungalb Devsgrybe broke (well, slid, but.) into our first group stage of a thing, and avoided having the worst defense of the stage of the thing, somehow. Dorim Atik equalized in the Galactica match to earn one of their points at the Kepav Pearkin.

Also, they're clearly not distracted by that too much, as they're still top.

Matchday Twenty-two: Who's the best in Bloyben?
Stivarnel GU have impressed by staying clear of the relegation fight (three points between tenth and sixteenth, still!). Instead of the derby, we tuned in to watch both Bloyben clubs take on the top two. And while Ronthand earned a point, they didn't look great doing it. They were struggling to attack against a really-spinning-their-wheels-and-looking-much-worse Nithgard. Meanwhile, Stivarnel actually got on the board after an adventurous but fruitful run from Vestin Kernee (and an adventurous but disappointing-because-I-think-I-messed-up-previous-team-assignments trip through my spreadsheet).

Then they totally lost by two to Ungalb Devsgrybe. Momentum, people.

Matchday Twenty-three: What shall we call "surviving by goal difference"?
We need a name for this phenomenon, and we need it soon, with four teams tied for thirteenth through sixteenth. Numbers thirteen and fifteen didn't see their goal difference change, as they drew scorelessly with each other; those would be Passkay GU (-5) and Ungalb Gultpyret (-10). Fourteenth are Brandith, who didn't help their goal difference any by condeding four to Stroyfungul (two each for Maygul and Enthrak). And in the drop zone are...Assertham TU, whose goal difference took a tumble against Paysban as Grean, Tevin Ruthe, and Myka Vondas all scored.

Paysban are seventeenth outright.

Ahead of Mayl Enthreapa.

Matchday Twenty-four: Was Marsinee right to leave Attereg?
He was likely a good choice for the national team, to be sure. But was it worth it in the long term, if the latter side is unlikely to do much of anything? Attereg are the worst team in the top half, although new manager Dagin Hender looked brilliant against Stroyfungul. Down two, he threw on Tash Mylee and Kayz Vondas, both of whom registered assists to come away with the point. Still, whatever he manages, you can't help but think the fans would prefer Marsinee at the end. Awkward.

Matchday Twenty-five: When will the 1-0 upsets ever stop?
Nithgard are out of the top two, albeit by a single goal, after losing at home to an Ungalb. No, not the champions--Ungalb Gultpyret, the ill-tempered capital side. They're better-tempered today, at least, though they're still a rung behind their derby rivals, with Vivid Hyf poking in a high shot from the midfield to get the upset.

Replacing them in second place are Stroyfungul, who defeated Ungalb Devsgrybe at home. The first half in fact went quite well for the visitors, who had the midfield completely stifled. But a free kick from Enthrak in the second half was enough for Stroyfungul to win. That said, they're still seven points out and will need both team's momentum to carry.

Matchday Twenty-six: Or can Devsgrybe just coast?
Momentum carried in at least one respect; Ungalb Devsgrybe lost, again, this time to a confident Hender and his Attereg side. Ipe Hengel scored a pair and Gelp Rofazh added another; so did Ile Nayn, but Devsgrybe's defense looked very weak.

Why aren't they worried? Because Stroyf and Kaynd got one point between them, and one of those sides was actually visiting Devsgrybe. Yes, Buzhrumpus picked up a point, with Parvin Wode scoring in the fifth before Klayf Brog equalized for Nithgard near the end of the first half. Stroyfungul, for their part, were beaten by sour-as-ever Brayntel in spite of a Maygul brace.

Matchday Twenty-seven: How long can Ousteeble last?
Ousteeble are as defensive a side as there can be. Defenders, it has been said, peak late. So it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to see them looking, well, old. But old--and suckish--was exactly how they looked visiting Brantslaybel as the home attack ran amok. Volkilk Rinth, Puse Filee, and Typ Moris all scored, to nothing from the visitors, and Brantslaybel sink into third while Ousteeble lie fifth. Sure they have laurels, but they can't rest on them forever.

Matchday Twenty-eight: Is it still the "goal of the match" if there's no competition to choose from?
Three different matches would have given you three different answers. A "no" for Jenvee Barhsel, who took a free kick for Ousteeble after Tagiv Askin's foul on Aleash Allagondee. That was the only goal against Paysban. A "yes" for Sylef Reands, whose beautiful shot from the wing was enough to give Ronthand the win in the Bloyben derby. And a "no" accompanied by an obscene hand gesture for Truver Lensel of Stroyfungul.

Who fumbled the ball into his own net for the only goal, at home against Assertham.

They are now in the dizzying heights of twelfth, and trying not to celebrate too loudly at risk of jinxing anything, though Maylean's performance was admittedly praiseworthy under any circumstances. Seven points from them to the bottom. Six matches to go...

Matchday Twenty-nine: Not another 1-0 upset?
No, although the first few minutes of Assertham vs. Ungalb Devsgrybe suggested that the visitors were afraid of this very premise. Instead, they dominated possession early on and even drew a couple fouls before Hayz got them on the board and they eased up. It was a little touch-and-go after that, but the game did finish 1-0 the other way.

Brantslaybel and Stroyfungul came into their match tied for the last Globe Cup spot, and nothing was really sorted as they played to an entertaining 3-3 draw. Maygul, Vish, and Rendra Nilkarn scored for the visitors; Moris, Rinth, and Savit Neals for the hosts.

Matchday Thirty: Who's still in it?
The top four played each other this week. Ousteeble rose from third to second on goal differene after beating Nithgard, Klove Barshel's goal making the difference in a 2-1 encounter. Brantslaybel, however, failed to rise from fourth...despite beating Ungalb Devsgrybe with two more from Moris and one from Ipaka Huve. They are just still in mathematical contention now; Stroyfungul are not, eliminated by mighty Nert Serindep and Passkay (fifteenth, thirteen goals better than Assertham).

Matchday Thirty-one: Too soon to say that Nithgard won't be sixth?
It's been a nice streak, but Kaynd are now the only side able to catch Ungalb Devsgrybe, and that would only be on goal difference. They kept their season alive with a win over last-outright Brandith while Ousteeble capitulated against unheralded Rogglebo and Devsgrybe swept up pesky Passkay (sixteenth, nine goals ayead of Paysban).

Matchday Thirty-two: How large does Matchday Twelve loom?
The title race is over; Ungalb Devsgrybe defend their championship after beating Ronthand while Talia Wonker's goal gave Stroyfungul three points against Nithgard. It also leaves Stroyfungul fourth. Brantslaybel are really right behind them, with the same points and goal difference and a draw three weeks ago...but Stroyf had won their home leg, so they have that to rely on going forward.

Seven teams within four points of the bottom, too. Nothing's settled yet!

Matchday Thirty-three: Will we have to look up even more looming matchdays?
Brantslaybel and Stroyfungul are still keeping pace, both with two-goal wins. Nithgard, hwever, did not win--in fairness, they had Ungalb Devsgrybe to handle, and even managed a point out of it thanks to a late Brog equalizer. But this means Stroyf and Brantslaybel are now third and fourth, and Nithgard are two goals back of them. Suddenly that sixth-place finish looks all too possible.

Matchday Thirty-four: Can we do a live thing?

So what if the title race is all wrapped up? It's crazy close for the last spot! And what about that relegation battle? There are teams trying not to get relegated who are playing each other! It's, like, an opportunity for one of them to get three points, or the other one to get three points! Or for both teams to get one point each! We should get excited about these sorts of games!

...aaaaaand with our announcer twitching in distaste, grab the mike and run!

1 minutes So the way things look before the start of play: Gultpyret and Rogglebo tied for thirteenth on 37 points. Passkay 36. Buzhrumpus in the drop zone with 35, and Paysban and Assertham with 34.
2 minutes: Brantslaybel in trouble right away, they're stuck in Attereg against the GU and Barten has given them the lead.
8 minutes: Stroyfungul taking advantage. Header for Teav Rettin against Ungalb Gultpyret.
9 minutes: Whoa, a glut. Um, Kayv Rashith for Devsgrybe against Rogglebo, Tyvay for Nithgard at Brayntel, and Moyna Hayris for Assertham against Passkay. This would put Ousteeble, Stroyf, and Kaynd all tied for second, Brantslaybel locked out, Assertham surviving at Passkay's expense.
10 minutes: Attereg double their lead through Kayz Vondas. Buzhrumpus mount the final assault in the battle for survival, with Breasen Aygel scoring. This would put them twelfth and send Assertham back down.
11 minutes: You can't breathe here. Shayv Brang equalizing for Gultpyret, which puts Stroyf fourth outright.
16 minutes: Seriously, we randomized it, so don't blame us if there's drama.
17 minutes: Molander scores for Ronthand against Perntav Marna; no one cares, but there's a chance Ronthand might finish below their crosstown rivals in the derby, so that's something. Granted, there's a chance Perntav Marna might finish below their crosstown rivals but they'd have to lose and have Gultpyret beat Stroyf. That's not likely.
18 minutes: Ousteeble score against Paysban through Paita Rinth, and, um. Hyf. Just gave Gultpyret the lead against Stroyfungul. We're...just going to step away from the microphone now?
28 minutes: Look at us, happily away from the microphone. No jinxing here!
29 minutes: Perntav Marna equalize through Ated.
31 minutes: Um. Gultpyret. Just scored again. Through Tesiv Morayn. We'll be quiet now.
35 minutes: Brandith are not a side whose players are well-known at all. They tend to get their success below the board, people say. Yet, it is Buug Mylee who has equalized against Mayl Inthreapa, who would now be seventeenth. Really sucks to have to end your season against Brandith.
38 minutes: Goal for Enthrak, Stroyf only one back now, haha.
45+1 minutes: Goal Buzhrumpus! A heroic effort from the aging Ayila Reamlad. Beautiful stuff. That's them thirteenth again.
Halftime: Okay, so as of now, Ousteeble, Nithgard, and Stroyfungul to the Globe Cup, Brantslaybel a goal (well, plus three from before) short, Assertham, Passkay, and Paysban going down. Could all change any moment, of course.
46 minutes: Aha. Moyer Kayns equalizing against Nithgard. No real change in the table, though.
48 minutes: Oh dear. Dragel Hysinee ties it up for Brandith against Buzhrumpus again. They bounce back down, Assertham up, again, etc.
50 minutes: Meanwhile, nothing of interest in Stivarnel vs. Atteregav Numa. The latter have no hope of being the best team in their city; however, the former just need to keep pace with Ronthand to pull that off.
55 minutes: It's McFree with an equalizer for Stroyfungul.
65 minutes: Another piece of midfield trickery, capped by a Wonker goal as Stroyf take the lead again. That's, in all honesty, more like it.
66 minutes: Paghif Bell scores for Brayntel, who rise into fourth place, cuing excited and earnest cheers from their diehard brown-clad faithful...trolololono. Um. But this does mean, of all things, Nithgard are sixth again!
70 minutes: Baynil Haggen scores for Perntav Marna in their irrelevant match. Perntav Marna do rise to the top half now, a goal ahead of Ronthand, their opponents at the moment.
87 minutes: Further irrelevance! Arbis Kakyl gets a rare visit to the scoreboard as Ronthand equalize in Eanbyre. And Doncher Maygul scores for Stroyfungul, they're just playing now.
88 minutes: Wow. Immediately off the restart...Vish heads it in. So that's all of Stroyf's front six on the scoreboard. Sometimes they are just that good.
90+1 minutes: Moris scores for Brantslaybel, but it's too late to matter now.
90+3 minutes: As if to prove that they don't need Brandith's sketchiness to help them out, Deam hammers one home for a delirious Assertham. Whether the winning combination was just bandwagon-hopping, goalkeeping skill, or a fluke own goal here and there, the curse is broken!

Promoted: Deahpild TU, Ungalb Impodel, Stirvik TU. So, two teams no one likes and one team no one understands. Awesome.

Unified Falcon Football League Season 1 Preview

The most notable thing about this offseason was that clubs were not allowed to make any transfers or get new international players, with the reason being that the newly created Unified Falcon Football League was working out all the kinks with how the teams will travel, what is played when, etc, etc. This probably means, though, that the mid-season transfer period will be a busy one as the teams try to fill in the gaps that remain in their sides.

With two separate leagues combining into one, how will things turn out? Is CPD Dinas Parheft, three-time champion of Falconear, good enough to take on the ever-revolving door of top teams in Falconfar? Can Iona Spaceport, with Irwin Garland-Hart, take this crown as well? Or will it be the star-studded squad in Manvero? Will Jacques Didier change homes? Where will Iosef Niskakangasi end up? All these questions remain to be answered...

Premier Division Preview

"I don't know what the hell they were thinking putting together this schedule," stated Johannes Barr, manager of the Manvero Heroes, "I mean, just look at it. Iona Spaceport, Pyria, Vititi, Iriwati, La Pinatra, and Iona Junction are hard enough, but now, you add teams like Rhymney Unedig, Mmyrskanor Unedig, CPD Dinas Parheft, and CPD Dinas Larai? This is going to be an absolute dogfight. I believe the organizations wanted the level of competition to go up... Well, it will. It's going to be hard to place in the top twelve in this division, but it should produce some great football."

The story of the Premier Division will be definitely one of CPD Dinas Parheft, three-time defending champion of Falconear, going up against a murder's row of Falconfar teams: Pyria, Vititi, La Pinatra, Manvero, and of course, Iona Spaceport. Although the press claims that the combining of the leagues will cause the countries to become closer together, the reality is that rivalries will become intense. Falconearans want Falconear's teams to win, while Falconfarians want their teams to win. Although the amount of teams in the Unified Falcon League must remain the same at twenty-four apiece, there is no rule prohibiting the possibility of majority of the teams in the Premier Division being from one country or another. It will be a topic of interest as to which four teams are relegated and which four are promoted.

There are no shortage of stars around, either. Vititi has Henri Toval taking over where Harold Nehafsaim was. Pyria has the defensive backfield of Tundai and her goons. Iona Spaceport has Irwin Garland-Hart. Manvero has Sol Sjoden, Shelley Elliot and other strikers. La Pinatra's main star, Jacques Didier, is being the subject of many talks about where he might end up. The Crusaders' game is slipping, and Didier has expressed his wishes to be somewhere where his talents can yield more tangible results. Depending on just how competitive the Crusaders are at halftime, he might be the biggest transfer in the history of football of these two now unified countries.

Falconear is a small country in Atlantian Oceania, while Falconfar comprises of three planets and four moons... The fact that there are only seventy-two franchises in Falconfar compared to the hundreds that line up in Falconear shows that Falconfar is also interested in other sports. In fact, Falconear only has football, rugby, and american football, with Babbage rules being played sometimes.

A sarcastic yet serious question that is being asked is, "Will any team sign a player from the other nation?" That is the hope of this merger, of course, but it may take a few seasons for players to cross nations in this league.

One thing is for certain - fans will be watching the league with earnest to see who comes out on top in the showdown between Falconfarian and Falconearan teams.

Secondary Division Preview

Iosef Niskakangasi has lead Ytriba to the "B" League of this system. Will he be around to reap the benefits?

The wonderkid from Polar Islandstates has been the key cog in the Shock climbing the promotion ladder two seasons in a row to end up here. However, it seems that he will be going elsewhere soon; rumors state that Premier Division teams are offering him so much money that it would be foolish for him to turn them down. It seems that this may be the swan song for Iosef in Ytriba, unless by the halfway point, it seems that they will be promoted once more to the top.

This is the other division where both Falconfarians and Falconearans play. The promotion spots will be hotly contested, for there is no rule that it must be two from Falconfar and two from Falconear. However, the relegation system is a bit different; even if a Falconfarian team finishes better than three Falconearan teams, if the team is the last team from Falconfar, they will be relegated. This is to make sure that the Premier and Secondary Divisions combined contain twenty-four Falconfarian and twenty-four Falconearan teams.

Most likely to be promoted: Ytriba Shock, Votto Toren Buccaneers, Treharris, Clwb Sahaive

Other Leagues Preview

Not much to be said about the two other Falconfarian and the five other Falconearan leagues except to say that in these leagues, the teams will only face teams from their country. The Falconfarian Champions' League and the Falconearan Cynghrair Eilradd hold the keys to getting to the Secondary Division; in order to be promoted up, a team must finish in the top two spots.

Another thing to note is that the top eight teams in each league will play for that league's cup, which will hold a place to the Unified Falcon Cup.

The Vonghurst Star
VFA joins Rushmore in Football

VONGHURST - Today, a small ceremony in Vonghurst celebrated the acceptance of the VFA into the CRF, the Rushmori football governing body. Formerly a member of the Equestrian Sports Council (where it maintained membership as Roca Pequeña (a rock claimed by Virabia that may or may not exist somewhere in the ocean surrounding the Pony Lands)), this move marks a major shift in the direction of the VFA as the body is beginning to take a sharp interest in establishing football as the second biggest team sport on the island (behind Ultimate). To accomplish this, the VFA felt it was necessary to become a member of one of the world's premier football confederations.

In a press conference held after the event in Vonghurst today, VFA boss Brett Sampson expressed the belief that while the re-establishment of football as one of the island's most popular sports is still a ways away, joining the CRF represents a vital step i the development of both the sport as well as his organisation. "The level of competition found in Rushmore is just higher", said Brett when comparing the CRF to the ESC, "and while we may not be able to live up to it right now, it will give clubs and players constant motivation to improve themselves. While we may not do as well in Rushmori competition to begin with, over time the quality of the sport will no doubt improve and we'll do better."

Among the perks of joining the CRF, the two most notable are the fact that Virabia (and it's clubs) are now eligible to enter both the Copa Rushmori as well as the Copa de Campeones. The latter of which the association has already retroactively qualified teams for the next edition of. As a result league champion Ithaca and runners up FC Negroe Pride will be taking part in an additional round of international matches for the Copa de Campeones. Both clubs welcomed the opportunity. FC Negroe Pride striker Marcus Waters was especially so. When finding out about the news, today, he published the following to his microblog, "I can't wait to finally play clubs from nations we actually care about." This was no doubt a reference to the Vonghurst-House of Thoth series in the Globe Cup, where many in the Virabi footballing community wondered who it was the club lost to.

The VFA joining the CRF has also opened up the long existing demand for Virabia to field a team in the World Cup. Such a demand stretches all the way back to the days of Tropaia when the nation famously rejected to enter the first two World Cups despite being thought of as one of the stronger footballing nations in the world. Since then, whenever football has looked like it'd make a comeback the question has been raised and this time is no different. While Brett seemed to be more open to the idea than his predecessors he still rejected it for the short term. "I just don't see it happening right now," he said, "Our primary priority is to focus on developing the sport domestically with club competition and right now to field a team in a competition as massive and demanding as the World Cup isn't quite what we want to do now. This being said I will keep that possibility open and at some point in the future it is a possibility.

UICA Recap

Now that the first UICA cycle is out of the way it's time to take a look back and see how Virabi clubs performed. Unfortunately, it wasn't all too well. Then again, it wasn't expected that Virabi clubs would do well. v.league is far from being an elite football competition and it's clubs are complete newbies to the international stage and having gone to both matches in the Big Red's series against the Revolutionaries in person I can attest to the fact that it's a completely different atmosphere. Compared to v.league, which is rather laid back, foreign clubs bring a tenacity to the game that just can't be matched by Virabi clubs. They've (foreign clubs) have been through the dance before and they know what they need to do in order to win and the same can not yet be said for Virabi clubs. That doesn't excuse some of the poor results though. In the first round of the Globe Cup, Atalanta and Vonghurst dropped matches they should have won against relatively unknown opponents CF Fátima and House of Thoth. These kind of results are simply unacceptable to a young league looking to prove it self and hopefully in a few years time, our clubs can move on to the much more noble task of giant killing. Anyway, a club-by-club recap of the UICA Tournaments is below.

Image
Ithaca Big Red
Image
Of the four Virabi clubs in UICA competition, league champions Ithaca were the only ones who managed to win much of anything, taking their series against Dainer club University with a 4-1 win on aggregate. The series included an impressive start by the Ithaca based club who took off to an impressive 4-0 lead at home. While the second match saw University win in front of a sizable home crowd, it wasn't enough to overcome the lead established by Ithaca in the first match. During the two matches, Ithaca played exceptionally well and it was thought that perhaps they would fare rather well in the TQCC.

Image
Unfortunately, in their second round match against Revolutionaries, their strong play proved not to be enough. Traveling to Brigham in the FSSO for their first match the Virabi based side was somewhat confident in their ability to best the foreign side but, after a one sided 3-1 defeat the high hopes vanished. While the club was able to take the second match with a 2-1 victory, looking rather solid, it wasn't enough to overcome the FSSO who won 4-3 on aggregate, thus ending Ithaca's first run at the TQCC.

Image

Relegated to the Globe Cup, the Big Red looked to go as far as they could in the Globe Cup. While an initial 2-2 draw at home against Vilitian side Turoki Tide began to get the clubs hopes up, the Big Red ultimately continued their record of poor road performance in UICA competition this year. In a three-to-one loss in Vilitia, the Big Red looked like a school yard team against the Tide who were completely superior. Only Liam Bennett managed to score a goal and the club eventually went down 5-3 on aggregate.

Overview:
While the Big Red certainly hoped to do better in the TQCC, and by all respects should have been able to beat Revolutionaries (they conceded a really easy goal, otherwise they would have won on the away goals rule), the club still had a really good run, which could not be said for other Virabi sides. While many had thought prior to the beginning of the season they were only a mid-table club in v.league the semi-pro side has shown that they are able to compete with clubs from top footballing countries. Should they return next year, one can expect an even deeper run in to the TQCC for the squad for next year looks to be stronger than this years. Overall, I can say that the club is doing what they do extremely well and is a great representative of Virabi football at it's finest.

Image
Capitol Club (formerly known as the Vonghurst Capitols)
Image

With their 3-2 loss on aggregate to House of Thoth, the Caps became the laughing stock of the entire nation. Before the two played each other hardly anyone had heard of the club much less the nation from which they hail, Transilveinia, which we are told exists somewhere deep within the great Rushmori grey zone. From what was seen of the club, they, like the rest of Transilveinia are composed entirely of vampires. Somehow, they were able to still draw Capitol Club 1-1 in a match played in broad daylight and later, during a match we were assured took place, they were able to best the Caps with a 2-1 victory.

Overview
With only a single loss, the foray of Capitol Club into the Globe Cup was a rather disappointing one. The club struggled to beat easy competition and made fools of themselves to an entire nation because of their poor performance. Unfortunately, these kind of results will plague Virabi teams for some years to come. Until the nation develops into a football power house, which will be many many years away (unfortunately), fans of the Virabi sport are just going to suffer as rather low skilled Virabi sides struggle against clubs from nations we've never heard of. Such is life. One day, hopefully soon, it will be the Yuba United's and the SK Franz Josef Cities of the world that eliminate teams like Capitol Club not House of Thoth. A man can only dream.

Image
Atalanta BC
Image

As disappointing as Capitol Club's Globe Cup campaign was, Atalanta's was ten times more disappointing. Once again, the Virabi side dropped a series to an opponent they should have been able to easily beat from a country that very few had even heard of. Even more disappointing, they found themselves unable to win in front of their home fans. During the 2-1 loss, the home side missed many easy chances on goal and failed to uphold a the club's usual strong defence and as a result CF Fátima was able to score four goals over the two matches and eliminate Atalanta BC in the first round of competition.

Overview
Overall, Atalanta's debut Globe Cup effort was rather poor. The fact that they only barely qualified for the cup was on full display as they struggled against a lowly club like CF Fátima. More than anything, this shows that there is a bit of a gap between clubs like Ithaca and The Pride and the rest of the league. While the prior two are on a level where they can play well against clubs from countries such as FSSO and Cafundéu, Atalanta hasn't shown themselves able to compete against one from El Gran Tropico. In coming seasons, it will be interesting to see whether or not this gap widens or if it closes shut. If it's the prior, we could easily see a situation in v.league where the cake goes between two or three clubs while the rest can fight it out for mid table spots. It is certainly hoped that this won't happen and the VFA has gone on record saying that if it were to become the case measures would be taken to level out the playing field to some degree.

FC Negroe Pride
Image

Since the Negroe Pride finished second, they got the privilege of entering into the second round of the Globe Cup. This could have been really fortunate for the club as there was a chance that they would get drawn against a weak team who had just moved on from the first round. This did not prove to be the case as they were drawn against Cafundelense side CR Submiria, and as soon as that match was announced everyone knew that The Pride would be leaving the tournament after a single round. While this proved to be true with a 4-2 loss on aggregate, don't let the score-line fool you. Even though FCNP conceded two goals in both of their matches, the calibur of play was very high. The defense, led by Marcus Russell played well and the two goals scored in their match in Southham were more by accident than anything else (see the 81st minute half field goal by Weltinho). Meanwhile the striking duo of Waters and Brown created many opportunities but because of quality goal keeping by the opposition, they were not able to capitalise on many of the opportunities. While The Pride certainly played strong football, and perhaps even stronger football than their opponent, it is the scoreline which determines who goes on and as such the Negroe Pride bowed out after a single round of competition.

Overview
In their debut showing in UICA competition, The Pride, showed that they are an extremely talented football side. Despite their amateur status, they can play well against a top professional side and given that they have a few top youngsters who will begin play for the club in the coming seasons, we don't quite know the heights they will scale. What we do know is that their first effort was rather respectable, and while they lost, next edition they may well move on from their first match of the Globe Cup and if their especially lucky the TQCC.

Cygnus Cup XV

Final
*Played at Bridge Road, Oldbridge, Ad’ihan
Warriors (ZRB) 0–0 AS Bezieres (VLD) (0–1 AET)

Congratulations to AS Bezieres of Valladares, who win the 15th Cygnus Cup! As such, they are granted automatic entry to Cygnus Cup XVI if they do not qualify by virtue of winning their national association or league cup.

Final venue bids for Cygnus Cup 16 are now open. Nominated stadia should have a minimum capacity of 50,000, and ideally (though it is not required) should be accompanied by a short write-up on its usability as a cup final stadium.

The Ko-orenite clubs could not live up to their results of the previous season in the CC, GC and SBCC. Last season, the first season that Ko-oren joined, Mázaj reached the SBCC group stage, and numerous teams survived one or two rounds before going out. Not in the least Maethorü, the champion of the league and the representative in the Champions’ Cup. This season, no team reached the group stage of any cup, nor has a team stayed in a cup for more than 2 rounds. In the Champions’ Cup, Maethorü played Elmelk in the 2nd preliminary round, beating them over two matches (1-0, 0-0). The round after that, Maethorü lost to Cednia Beach twice (1-0, 1-0). That’s Ko-oren in the CC.
On to the Globe Cup. Kol played Imeall an Uisce in the Playoff Access Stage, the very first round. This ended on an aggregate 3-3, yet Kol lost due to away goals. Branvün also played in this stage, but beat Bugny FC. The following round, they lost one match 1-4 and the 1-0 home victory did not change their fate against Tivoli City Venassaurs. Líjü played Carmadin’s Northeastern, losing 2-0 and drawing 3-3.
The SBCC: Sáíwú, the Eastern Champion, lost against Endoplasmatic Reticulum. Wui beat Lonngeylin Coast. In the Second Preliminary Round, Diamond Dust, the Southern Champion, lost immediately against Guardians FC. Wui went out against Athletic Club Rumiatzi, 3-1 and 4-1. Lastly, the Northern Champion Mázaj started in the TPR, losing against Mount Nussizhadani.

This was all known information until the season preview. Maethorü then fell to the Qualifying Stage of the Globe Cup, and lost twice 1-2 against Arsar. Arsar was eventually the only team that beat any Ko-orenite team that survived the group stage of the CC/GC/SBCC. Arsar went out immediately in the Round of 32 of the Globe Cup losing 0-3 and 1-4 against Natestad Nationalisten. Who proceeded to go out in the next round against Marinos Metropolis. That is finally where the humiliation ends, MM won the Globe Cup! Congratulations! Also our felicitations to Cedniavella, winning the SBCC and Fontvielle Impact, the Champions’ Cup Champion!

Now onto the Cygnus Cup, another cup Ko-oren played in. Cup winners Ko-oren Capitals gave their terrible season a fantastic end by winning the national cup and qualifying for the Cygnus Cup. They even beat Fontana in the playoff round (the first round) with two draws, yet 1-1 and 2-2 gave them more away goals than Fontana. The second round, against Jungle Strike FC, was another close match, where Ko-oren Capitals won again on away goals (0-1, 2-1). In the Second Round proper, the Capitals immediately lost against South Flinders. Who later went out against Firewood City. Who went out against the Warriors. The final is not yet played, but we have some money on AS Berzieres.

Here is where the Ko-orenite Season commences: Season 3!

Image

Round 1:

The National League kicks off in round one with Maethorü to take on Jeknólr, a subtop team. A goal fest ensues: 4-0 for Maethorü, who can hopefully wash away the terrible taste of the international season. Üzhótü also have a top start, beating Óthüshün by 4-1.

Tangkü (S) 1–1 Stürng (W)
Kthósl (N) 1–1 Wúí (W)
Maethorü (W) 4–0 Jeknólr (N)
Víltsr (N) 0–1 Kol (N)
Árelóthün (S) 0–1 Branvün (S)
Engbróthün (S) 0–0 Vnóskjülung (N)
Nórílyá (S) 1–0 Ájongká Region (W)
Üzhótü (E) 4–1 Óthüshün (N)
Hógóne (E) 1–1 Líjü (N)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 2–1 Kángütsü (E)

Round 2:

Three teams remain at top score after two matches: Maethorü, Branvün and Üzhótü. Can the latter become the surprise of the season? At the same time, three teams have no points yet: Kángütsü, Ájongká and Jeknólr. Branvün win 5-0 against the fourth team that was tipped for relegation: Engbróthün.

Stürng (W) 2–1 Kángütsü (E)
Líjü (N) 2–0 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Óthüshün (N) 2–2 Hógóne (E)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–2 Üzhótü (E)
Vnóskjülung (N) 0–0 Nórílyá (S)
Branvün (S) 5–0 Engbróthün (S)
Kol (N) 1–2 Árelóthün (S)
Jeknólr (N) 0–1 Víltsr (N)
Wúí (W) 0–3 Maethorü (W)
Tangkü (S) 0–0 Kthósl (N)

Round 3:

Maethorü, the most probable champion drew against Tangkü (subtop) to miss their first points. Branvün and Üzhótü happily fill the gap Maethorü left, and Branvün still even have to concede their first goal. On the other side, all teams now have at least one point.

Kthósl (N) 0–1 Stürng (W)
Maethorü (W) 1–1 Tangkü (S)
Víltsr (N) 3–1 Wúí (W)
Árelóthün (S) 0–1 Jeknólr (N)
Engbróthün (S) 0–1 Kol (N)
Nórílyá (S) 0–1 Branvün (S)
Üzhótü (E) 1–0 Vnóskjülung (N)
Hógóne (E) 1–2 Ájongká Region (W)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 2–1 Óthüshün (N)
Kángütsü (E) 2–0 Líjü (N)

Round 4:

Last years disappointing Ko-oren Capitals now have a great start, they're at fifth place and have a chance at the Globe Cup if this continues. Üzhótü drop their first points in a direct confrontation with Branvün, who keep winning. Maethorü are back at the top with 14 goals scored after only 4 matches. Newly promoted Stürng keep surprising critics with their 7th place.

Stürng (W) 0–1 Líjü (N)
Óthüshün (N) 1–0 Kángütsü (E)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–2 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–0 Hógóne (E)
Branvün (S) 1–0 Üzhótü (E)
Kol (N) 1–0 Nórílyá (S)
Jeknólr (N) 0–1 Engbróthün (S)
Wúí (W) 0–4 Árelóthün (S)
Tangkü (S) 1–0 Víltsr (N)
Kthósl (N) 0–6 Maethorü (W)

Round 5:

Branvün and Maethorü show that they are the best teams of the league, now with Kol as the new challenger behind them. Kthósl and Hógóne are the only two teams that have yet to win in the third season... Also don't forget Tangkü that still haven't lost either despite their 5th place. Branvün even beat Hógóne (so 1st vs. 20th) 8-0!!

Maethorü (W) 3–0 Stürng (W)
Víltsr (N) 0–0 Kthósl (N)
Árelóthün (S) 1–2 Tangkü (S)
Engbróthün (S) 0–1 Wúí (W)
Nórílyá (S) 2–0 Jeknólr (N)
Üzhótü (E) 1–2 Kol (N)
Hógóne (E) 0–8 Branvün (S)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–1 Vnóskjülung (N)
Kángütsü (E) 1–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Líjü (N) 2–2 Óthüshün (N)

Round 6:

While Branvün had an easy week last week, they needed all their concentration and ability to overcome Ko-oren Capitals, who dropped back to 10th place. They did give Branvün their first GA this season. Üzhótü have dropped back to a 9th place after their promising start, while Stürng keep doing extremely well. Also Árelóthün are doing great after they were tipped to relegation place this season.

Stürng (W) 1–0 Óthüshün (N)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–1 Líjü (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–0 Kángütsü (E)
Branvün (S) 3–2 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Kol (N) 2–2 Hógóne (E)
Jeknólr (N) 1–0 Üzhótü (E)
Wúí (W) 1–1 Nórílyá (S)
Tangkü (S) 3–1 Engbróthün (S)
Kthósl (N) 1–2 Árelóthün (S)
Maethorü (W) 4–3 Víltsr (N)

Round 7:

Stürng drop out of the top 10 after a bad loss against Víltsr, but the mid-table differences are not that big. Vnóskjülung, who more or less silently climbed to 6th place, have 11 points. In 13th place is the disappointing Nórílyá (who qualified for FireStorm for instance, last years 5th or 6th place), yet they are only 3 points, so one win, behind Vnóskjülung.

Víltsr (N) 4–0 Stürng (W)
Árelóthün (S) 0–0 Maethorü (W)
Engbróthün (S) 0–0 Kthósl (N)
Nórílyá (S) 1–3 Tangkü (S)
Üzhótü (E) 1–1 Wúí (W)
Hógóne (E) 0–2 Jeknólr (N)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 2–2 Kol (N)
Kángütsü (E) 0–3 Branvün (S)
Líjü (N) 4–1 Vnóskjülung (N)
Óthüshün (N) 2–2 Ájongká Region (W)

Round 8:

Branvün lost their first match! Líjü, their colleagues in the Globe Cup, stole a 0-1 away win to seize the first points from Branvün. Rivals Maethorü benefit to the maximum with a 6-1 win over 19th placed Engbróthün. Hógóne and Engbróthün were the teams that were most likely to finish low, together with promoted Wúí and Stürng, but so far only the two teams that were already in the league are doing badly.

Stürng (W) 1–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Vnóskjülung (N) 3–0 Óthüshün (N)
Branvün (S) 0–1 Líjü (N)
Kol (N) 2–2 Kángütsü (E)
Jeknólr (N) 2–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Wúí (W) 1–1 Hógóne (E)
Tangkü (S) 1–1 Üzhótü (E)
Kthósl (N) 1–1 Nórílyá (S)
Maethorü (W) 6–1 Engbróthün (S)
Víltsr (N) 2–1 Árelóthün (S)

Round 9:

At one quarter of the league, Maethorü are back were everyone expected them - at the top. Branvün lost another match against the underachieving Óthüshün, where Maethorü got a good victory against the other underachieving team: Nórílyá.

Árelóthün (S) 0–1 Stürng (W)
Engbróthün (S) 2–2 Víltsr (N)
Nórílyá (S) 0–2 Maethorü (W)
Üzhótü (E) 1–0 Kthósl (N)
Hógóne (E) 1–5 Tangkü (S)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–1 Wúí (W)
Kángütsü (E) 2–1 Jeknólr (N)
Líjü (N) 1–0 Kol (N)
Óthüshün (N) 1–0 Branvün (S)
Ájongká Region (W) 2–1 Vnóskjülung (N)

With only four matchdays remaining, the race for post-season qualification is heating up.

Remaining at the top of the table is Kaje Football, who currently hold a four point lead over second place Latimere United. Much of this is due to continuing performance from the team's dynamic duo of Keller and Galoslon, especially during the middle of the leg. Going into the final leg, and post season, though, it should be noted that the last few weeks have seen some rough losses to high ranked teams such as Teva FC and FC Deska, and the team is winless since week 26.

Several other teams are fighting to claim the top spot, and the Globe Cup slot that goes with it, in the final weeks, just as FC Deska did last season. Latimere United, coming off a bye week and with one more game to play than Kaje Football, seems the most likely contender. If FC Deska was able to overcome an eight point deficit last year, though, that feasibly puts West Tolten, Teva FC and Deska in contention for the top spot.

Slightly further down the standings, a frenzied sprint for a spot on the Gordonopia Cup has begun. Places 6-12 are all within five points of each other, and with the exception of 10th ranked Territories Alliance, all have a full four games remaining. With the cutoff set at eighth, it is highly likely that the race won't be over until the last game of the season.

On the other end of the spectrum, though, is the bitter fight to escape relegation. In last place, Zuzelt Steel's peril seems almost assured. The team has gone scoreless for four games, and has not won since week 16 against West Tolten. It would take a serious turnaround for Zuzelt to escape automatic relegation, much less the play-in situation that doomed number 16 Al-Kharid last season in favor of Willingham AC. Three other teams sit at only 30 points, and in these final weeks, all will certainly be trying their best to secure one more year in the GPL.

On the player front, the front-runners are becoming ever more clear. Vonn Keller of Kaje Football appears to be the leader for Golden Glove, with 26 goals and a further 8 assists. A powerful effort by another player, though, could edge out Keller. Gordon Brink of Latimere United is the most likely candidate with 20 goals and 14 assists. With one more game to play than Keller, Brink could emerge victorious in a similar situation to Kaje's Jere Tobias last season, who topped the league in assists, while only ranking third in goals.

Barring a home-stretch meltdown, the Golden Globe will likely go to Dale Keller of the Kjeldor Knights. Keller has helped keep the Knights down to 26 goals, seven less than any other team, and with 11 clean sheets to boot. As the season stretches on, Keller and his fellow defensivemen have been the only things keeping last year's Gordonopia Cup semifinalists in contention for the post-season. It would be an understatement to call the Knights' offense, who are 15th in the league, struggling, and the fact that injuries have knocked out both a starting striker and an attacking midfielder through the rest of the season does not bode well for the team's offensive hopes, nor the team's overall hopes for a Gordonopia Cup berth.

Round 10:

This round was a very low scoring round, with Árelóthün being the unexpected odd one out, scoring 3 against their state rivals of Engbróthün. The biggest wins were for Kángütsü and Ko-oren Capitals, both winning 0-2 away.

Stürng (W) 2–2 Vnóskjülung (N)
Branvün (S) 0–0 Ájongká Region (W)
Kol (N) 0–0 Óthüshün (N)
Jeknólr (N) 1–0 Líjü (N)
Wúí (W) 0–2 Kángütsü (E)
Tangkü (S) 0–2 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Kthósl (N) 0–0 Hógóne (E)
Maethorü (W) 2–1 Üzhótü (E)
Víltsr (N) 0–1 Nórílyá (S)
Árelóthün (S) 3–2 Engbróthün (S)

Round 11:

Ko-oren Capitals keep pushing upwards with their 5-4 win over 19th placed Kthósl, but what makes this match really one to remember was the 5-4 scoring line. Tangkü seem to cease trying to catch on with the top 3 after their bad loss at Kángütsü.

Engbróthün (S) 1–1 Stürng (W)
Nórílyá (S) 4–1 Árelóthün (S)
Üzhótü (E) 2–0 Víltsr (N)
Hógóne (E) 0–1 Maethorü (W)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 5–4 Kthósl (N)
Kángütsü (E) 2–1 Tangkü (S)
Líjü (N) 2–0 Wúí (W)
Óthüshün (N) 2–1 Jeknólr (N)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–2 Kol (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 0–3 Branvün (S)

Round 12:

Óthüshün are the top scoring team this round, scoring 5 to beat Wúí 5-2. Because there are so many teams around the 18 points right now, one loss of Ko-oren Capitals had the aspiring team fall back to 11th place. With 20 points, Tangkü are fourth. A team with 14 points would be 15th... One team with a little boost near the end could just end up 10 places higher than they should.

Stürng (W) 2–2 Branvün (S)
Kol (N) 0–2 Vnóskjülung (N)
Jeknólr (N) 0–3 Ájongká Region (W)
Wúí (W) 2–5 Óthüshün (N)
Tangkü (S) 1–1 Líjü (N)
Kthósl (N) 0–0 Kángütsü (E)
Maethorü (W) 2–0 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Víltsr (N) 1–0 Hógóne (E)
Árelóthün (S) 0–2 Üzhótü (E)
Engbróthün (S) 1–1 Nórílyá (S)

Round 13:

The league is now shifting from high scoring round to low scoring, and this time around, it's low scoring again. Newly promoted Wúí that audaciously fought to join the teams in the middle was pushed back to a relegation position by Ájongká Region, Líjü in 3rd place do not manage to beat Kthósl in 19th.

Nórílyá (S) 1–0 Stürng (W)
Üzhótü (E) 0–1 Engbróthün (S)
Hógóne (E) 0–1 Árelóthün (S)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–1 Víltsr (N)
Kángütsü (E) 1–2 Maethorü (W)
Líjü (N) 1–1 Kthósl (N)
Óthüshün (N) 0–0 Tangkü (S)
Ájongká Region (W) 2–0 Wúí (W)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–0 Jeknólr (N)
Branvün (S) 0–0 Kol (N)

Round 14:

Another low-scoring round where Óthüshün steal the show and a place in top-10 with a 0-3 win. To recap: the Champion goes to the CC, 2-4 to the GC, and fifth and sixth to FireStorm. The top few teams seem to be set now, but the fight over the 5th and 6th placed teams is about to break loose...

Stürng (W) 2–1 Kol (N)
Jeknólr (N) 1–0 Branvün (S)
Wúí (W) 0–2 Vnóskjülung (N)
Tangkü (S) 0–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Kthósl (N) 0–3 Óthüshün (N)
Maethorü (W) 1–0 Líjü (N)
Víltsr (N) 2–1 Kángütsü (E)
Árelóthün (S) 0–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Engbróthün (S) 1–0 Hógóne (E)
Nórílyá (S) 2–0 Üzhótü (E)

Round 15:

Maethorü have their first loss of the season! Still they have an eight-point gap to Branvün, but Óthüshün are now the first team to beat them this season. Vnóskjülung lost 0-4 and are now in 5th place with a negative GD. Ájongká Region are in 12th with a positive one, which shows how close teams 4-17 are (8 points).

Üzhótü (E) 1–2 Stürng (W)
Hógóne (E) 1–0 Nórílyá (S)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–1 Engbróthün (S)
Kángütsü (E) 1–0 Árelóthün (S)
Líjü (N) 3–0 Víltsr (N)
Óthüshün (N) 1–0 Maethorü (W)
Ájongká Region (W) 0–0 Kthósl (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 0–4 Tangkü (S)
Branvün (S) 5–1 Wúí (W)
Kol (N) 2–0 Jeknólr (N)

Round 16

In which almost every away team wins 0-1. Exceptions are Maethorü who are the only home team to win, Kol who win 1-2 (so still with 1 goal difference...) and Vnóskjülung who win 1-3... Not a great round for the neutral fans.

Stürng (W) 0–1 Jeknólr (N)
Wúí (W) 1–2 Kol (N)
Tangkü (S) 0–1 Branvün (S)
Kthósl (N) 1–3 Vnóskjülung (N)
Maethorü (W) 1–0 Ájongká Region (W)
Víltsr (N) 0–1 Óthüshün (N)
Árelóthün (S) 0–1 Líjü (N)
Engbróthün (S) 0–1 Kángütsü (E)
Nórílyá (S) 0–1 Ko-oren Capital (N)
Üzhótü (E) 0–1 Hógóne (E)

Round 17

Üzhótü are after their good run in the beginning of the season almost back where they started: they lost three matches in a row and now find themselves at 15th place. Stürng, promoted last season, is still going well at 8th place!

Hógóne (E) 0–1 Stürng (W)
Ko-oren Capital (N) 2–0 Üzhótü (E)
Kángütsü (E) 3–0 Nórílyá (S)
Líjü (N) 2–1 Engbróthün (S)
Óthüshün (N) 3–1 Árelóthün (S)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–2 Víltsr (N)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–3 Maethorü (W)
Branvün (S) 2–3 Kthósl (N)
Kol (N) 2–0 Tangkü (S)
Jeknólr (N) 5–0 Wúí (W)

Round 18

Because all teams in the middle are losing points to each other and making each other weaker vs the other teams, the bottom few teams have found their way into the big group again. At the top, Maethorü now have an 11 point gap, after that are 2 teams that have a little breathing space, and the rest seems to be back in a free-for-all brawl!

Stürng (W) 1–0 Wúí (W)
Tangkü (S) 1–1 Jeknólr (N)
Kthósl (N) 2–1 Kol (N)
Maethorü (W) 2–2 Branvün (S)
Víltsr (N) 2–1 Vnóskjülung (N)
Árelóthün (S) 2–1 Ájongká Region (W)
Engbróthün (S) 0–1 Óthüshün (N)
Nórílyá (S) 1–0 Líjü (N)
Üzhótü (E) 0–0 Kángütsü (E)
Hógóne (E) 1–0 Ko-oren Capital (N)

Round 19

The National League is now half-way and it's interesting to check what teams is doing wat at the moment. Maethorü are en route to their third championship, Líjü and Branvün are looking well to qualify for the Globe Cup and a group of 5 teams are battling for the third GC spot. The middle group seems to have fallen apart into two groups, namely the five that are in the race for GC, and the rest. This rest now extends all the way to last place, as Wúí, now in last, is a few points behind Hógóne, who are just behind Kthósl, just behind Engbróthün, just behind Árelóthün, etc...

Ko-oren Capital (N) 0–0 Stürng (W)
Kángütsü (E) 2–1 Hógóne (E)
Líjü (N) 3–1 Üzhótü (E)
Óthüshün (N) 1–2 Nórílyá (S)
Ájongká Region (W) 1–0 Engbróthün (S)
Vnóskjülung (N) 1–0 Árelóthün (S)
Branvün (S) 2–2 Víltsr (N)
Kol (N) 1–0 Maethorü (W)
Jeknólr (N) 1–1 Kthósl (N)
Wúí (W) 1–1 Tangkü (S)

In the Conferences, the fight for first place is still being fought. In the Northern Conference, Mázaj are in first, the team that played so well in the SBCC, but are closely followed by Ínsin and Sraltlur, Jófá following. The team that relegated to the NC, Rábth, are in 17th place and do not seem to be picking themselves up again.

The Eastern Conference has seen a different champion each season, now it's Ídígó's turn. Etena are close behind, and after that there is a gap to last years champions, now in third place Sáiwú. The champion before last season is fourth: Ódé. The only team that seems to be doing consistent is Súvírá, in last place...

The Western Conference, usually with the strongest teams but the littlest amount of them, has Blizzard as the surprising number 1. Blizzard came from the Southern Conference as there was no room for them after Síshínóvás relegation. But of course, WC had to teams to promote last season, so they got 'decapitated' to describe it. The other team that arrived from a different conference, is Álárá, in last place, coming from the Northern Conference where they always did well mid-table or even sub-top.
