Falconfar Premier League Season Three Preview

With the first sponsor in Falconfar sports - Polair if Polar Islandstates agreed to a five-year deal - and the Falconfar-Falconear merger looming on the horizon, let's take a look at the transactions that occurred and what can be reasonably expected from the twenty-four teams in the Falconfar Premier League.

A Gentle Reminder
A gentle reminder of what will happen to the league after this season. Falconfar and Falconear are merging to form the Unified Falcon League, and the changes will be thus:
1. The top twelve teams of the Falconfar Premier League after the next season will be in the Unified Falcon Premier Division.
2. The next eight teams, and the four teams that will be promoted in, will be in the Unified Falcon Secondary Division.
3. The four teams that are relegated, the rest of the B League, and the top four of the C League (the teams that will be promoted into the B League) will make up the Falconfar Champions' League.
4. The rest of the C League, and eight new teams will make up the Falconfar B League. The eight new teams will be: Pyria FC, Vititi United, Iriwati City FC, La Pinatra United, Wolfmann City FC, Hanszbrough United, Sandrali FC, and Baratoko United.
5. The Falconfar Cup will still be held, including the teams that will be in the UFL; however, the winner will not qualify for the Cygnus Cup.
6. Top four promoted, bottom four relegated - except for the Falconfar Champions' League, which will only promote two to the Unified Falcon Secondary Division.

The Panthers had the lead with one game to go, but lost to the Bulldogs of Mara Kora to lose the title to Vititi. Then, they were humiliated in the Falconfar Cup Final by New Irswabi. There is a chip on the Panthers' shoulders as they head into this season... Can they win when it matters the most?

Franklim Ordonez, or "The Mangolanan Wizard", has the pieces to make another deep run at the title, and there isn't much that other teams can do to stop them.

Synopsis: Irwin Garland-Hart has given this team a superstar, a leader, and an icon. Behind him, the Defenders went from being recently promoted to reaching the Globe Cup. Can they handle success? John-Michel Errat is one of the top Goalkeepers in the league, and Thaddeus Lewis provides a very good backstop. Garland-Hart and Bennet will seek to score the goals for the Defenders. They will be a team to watch this season, and possibly challenge for the title, but they are probably a move or two away from making a serious push.

LA PINATRA Crusaders

Synopsis: They will have no problems stopping goals. Jacques Didier is the best goalkeeper in the Empire by far. However, even Jacques will have a hard time winning without goal support. This team needs a reliable offensive threat who can provide consistent offense for Didier to play behind. Without that, the Crusaders will fall behind in the race for the title, and more importantly, they may lose Didier's services when the all-star Goalkeeper's contract is over.

The three should score plenty of goals, meaning that if the Heroes can play any semblance of a defense at all, they should be in good shape for a comeback. They need it, too - the fan market is demanding a better season than the one they just finished.

They still need some magic if they want to get far.

With Korriga and Estrela D'Alva in Group A, it looked like the top spots were a clincher, but it was Cachimbo Amplo that sealed their place early. Korriga seemed to struggle like last year, but then woke up and got the second spot, pushing out the defending champions Estrela D'Alva. Meanwhile, Group B saw Xistrumbigonça breeze through, and Limoeiro shut Sun Coast out with magnificent performances that included three five-goal smashings.

Carbono had some incredible early performances in group A, but fizzled out in the later rounds, losing 0-9 to Eclipse and 0-5 to Olhiderts. Eclipse sealed their place with little effort, and University also managed to do it with some leeway. Group B was a complete squash for Acropolis and Marvel Team, who finished seven points clear of everyone else.

This time, there was no contest. Minigoleada destroyed Group A, scoring 44-1 in only nine matches. That's five goals per game, which included two 6-0 (and one 6-1), one 7-0 and one 9-0 scoreline. However, the biggest scoreline was Adda's debut 10-0 against Catabás. Jéan got the second spot from a very regular campaign. Group B was less full of goals, but it saw some spectacular performances by Amaritu let them through, tied in points with Jenipapa.

Urdutown's passing football this time showed its power and they got their semi-final spot rather easily, followed by Tommy-Atkins, which edged out Voley on goal difference. Sport Wios keeps showing bad form and finished up in fifth place. Meanwhile, in Group B, Isper's 40 goals - which included a 13-0 scoreline against Eikan - weren't enough to put them in first place, which ended up with the incredible Crystal.

Limoeiro's good form saw them through Cachimbo Amplo, while in the charged derby of the other semifinal, a solitary Liu Keng Mau goal means Korriga goes ahead at the expense of Xistrumbigonça.

Eclipse deny Marvel Team a chance at a new title on extra time, while University shows their strength by eliminating the defending champions.

The electrifying match between Minigoleada and Amaritu ends with the black and green outfit ahead. On the other leg, the classic derby between Jenipapa and Jéan ends in complete obliteration.

Urdutown 4–8 Isper
Crystal  2–1 Tommy-Atkins

Isper and Urdutown, the two exponents of attacking football in Dainer, dazzle the espectators with a twelve-goal thriller. Crystal puts out a less amazing but solid performance and puts out Tommy-Atkins' attempt at a second title.

Limoeiro 0–0 Korriga (0–0 AET) (4–2 pen.)

Limoeiro held Korriga for 120 minutes (or was it the opposite?) and won the title on penalties.

Eclipse 0–2 University

University's solid squad dutifully smothered Eclipse and notched two en route for the title.

Minigoleada 3–0 Jenipapa

Minigoleada is on a roll. They really took no knowledge of their adversaries so far, Jenipapa being only one more of their victims.

Isper 2–2 Crystal (3–2 AET)

Crystal matched mighty Isper blow for blow, but in the end, Bio scored a magnificent extra-time goal to seal the match - and the championship.

LAVONIAN ISLANDS SOCCER LEAGUE

After a vote by the commitee of Sports in the Lavonian Islands, the commitee has decided to form a soccer league in our nation. Soccer is a very popular sport, 2nd after Hockey, and the commitee sees no reason why this should fail. Soccer talents from all over are invited to come to a camp to chose players for this league, and international transfers will be allowed. Teams are offering large pay for foreign talents interested in moving to the islands, and emerse themselves in the culture. Only 1 team has been announced for the league, the Ville d'Argent Foreurs. This team will play at Silver City Stadium, in Ville d'Argent. More information is expected to come in in the next few days, so stay here for more information!

Perhaps they'll say this was the year that change came. Not the ousting of Ousteeble, necessarily--no, it's the bottom of the table where we have to look first to see where the real sea change was. While Brandith were tipped for survival (and that only at the expense of a Bloyben side), the same could not really be said of the other two newcomers. Still...

The team that came dead last finally put to rest the question of "how are you still in this league"? Tendrekion GU are, finally, down, and perhaps this as much as anything will be taken as evidence for nidjing's utility. That's slightly unfair; they lost Rosean Tivashee to bad challenges several times too often, and her growing distemper at the team's suckitude didn't help. Still, no accounting for fan taste.

A notch above them are the "how are you still relevant"? Munnerput. Who knows, maybe next season they really will make that long-awaited title run--at the Epser Brandel. The fans are still in open-mouthed shock, and when pushed say something about bribed refs.

Only Stirvik TU make an immediate return to the second division, and on goal difference at that, leading to a Reaven Laynee spiel that involved metaphorical World Assembly commissions, metaphorical oases in metaphorical deserts, and metaphorically kissing your sister. The fortunate survivors are Paysban TU. We need to come up with a name for this kind of thing...

In a less important tie come the nominal working-class sides: Ungalb Gultpyret and Stivarnel GU. For the curious, after goal differential, head-to-head results and then goal difference are used. So both sides won at home, but Ungalb Gultpyret by a goal more, leading to them coming thirteenth with Stivarnel below that.

And then come some B-teams. No, not the reserves, the teams that start with B. Twelfth: Brayntel, whose old fans would probably prefer the old days when they were just the ones in the ugly uniforms rather than having to deal with the hipsters. Tenth--almost in the top half!--are Brandith. Maybe there is something to the bribed ref theory after all. Although that would require that Munnerput fans know what they're talking about, so I'm a little dubious.

Oh, and that means Buzhrumpus are eleventh.

Stroyfungul were retooled for less, although to be fair, Mayl Inthreapa were never as bad as last season's Stroyf at their nadir. Still, Ayila Reamlad has aged poorly, and though Artin Gonelee and Rithin Klayb can still bring it, Brod Helay and Kealast Nulbyd are individually and jointly struggling at the back. They really need to regroup, and the academy prospects aren't that inspiring. As if things couldn't get any worse for them...well...we'll get to that.

To the top half, and as below, so above; Eanbyre and Bloyben's conservative sides mirror their lefty derby partners. Perntav Marna actually lost the capital derby, losing the away leg and holding on for a nervous draw at home. Ronthand would have no such difficulties winning theirs, with the same 1-1 scoreline in the second leg.

Seventh...could it be? Could Atteregav Numa really be the ones to put their lonely city on the map? Attereg GU fans will have none of it, of course, but the "Sons" raised plenty of eyebrows. Tied for first on matchday ten, before losing to their other tied team, they would sport a defense as good as advertised at least for the first half of the season. At the halfway checkpoint there were, unthinkably, two Attereg sides in the Globe Cup positions! The pace couldn't quite hold up, but they've certainly dispatched Paysban as the benchmark for newcomers' progress. Well played.

Sixth...well, no surprises here. For the third season running, it's Nithgard GU who fill that spot. While all we hear about is how their back room is working on secretive business, the real scientific wonder they've pulled off is how to be good at football while barely scoring a goal per game. Only lucky-to-stay-up Paysban were worse. Yet Nithgard have made something out of nothing (and out of Lays Mearkayd's defensive solidity) again.

Fifth is the remaining B-team, Brantslaybel TU. Tendeana Ayspayr and Shry Kayndel are playing a pretty rough game at the back--when they have Tubin Luvelee to bail them out on penalties, they can get away with it. The real question is whether the fans will take to it enough to inject more jersey revenue without the Globe Cup money. The boardroom doesn't seem to be a fan of this approach but they don't seem to have any big ideas at present.

Fourth place: well, there has to be at least one Attereg club in the Globe Cup now, and it's the GU. The fixturenators spit out, of all things, a season-ending derby; for the hosts, it was a chance to avenge their shock defeat on Matchday Seventeen. This they did, and by the same scoreline, with Moygel Hempner ignoring an open Kayra Barten to score himself. A little less then they'd like, but they have to be happy with their showing overall. And they can't hate Numa too much, not when the GU's only obvious goal is urban relevance.

Third place: a renewed Stroyfungul. Maybe last season was just a fluke, but maybe the new generation are ready to take their place. Talia Wonker's holding-midfield role in particular was a pleasant surprise, as the others moved forward in their scintillating style. Compared to Buzhrumpus, who were actually that mediocre, there's a small chance that the nosedive early last season was just what they needed to trust the youth and get the kick in the pants they needed.

There's also a chance that the youth will burn out, particularly with the urges to call up Wonker and Toyvin Vish to the national side. Can't win 'em all.

Second place: You heard it here first, people; Ousteeble TU. Yes, they took the lead just as the second half began in horribly familiar style, but a loss in the capital on Matchday 25 saw them dip to the spot they'd hold the rest of the way. Elimination was confirmed in their penultimate game, where only a chip equalizer from Bayra Lonk was enough to make up for the Myr Kysee opener. The Myr Kysee of dead-last Tendrekion.

This is, let's be fair, a good season by anyone else's standards. But everyone else aren't all-out defenders in blinding yellow. So that's kind of the point.

Who, then, are the champions? Or, to put it another way, how could Buzhrumpus' season possibly have gotten any worse?

You have to go back to matchday seven for that. Before that week, things were very much up in the air; Brandith, of all teams, were the last undefeated side and the latest rumors had refs being threatened, rather than just bribed.

Then came the Devsgrybe derby.

Mayl Inthreapa got off to a flying start, racing to a 3-1 lead by halftime. But an own goal from Luthis Varnel changed the course of the game if not the season. Ungalb Devsgrybe were there to seize the momentum, with Ile Nayn equalizing and Tearim Hayz eventually finding the winner. They took the lead and kept going. Matchday ten saw them put aside would-be contenders Atteregav Numa behind a Nayn brace, and though they temporarily lost the lead to Attereg's other club, they'd regain it at the halfway point with an easy 2-0 win over a sulking Brandith. Yes, Ousteeble clawed their way to the lead it back soon after, but Ungalb Devsgrybe would retake it back on Matchday 26. By that time, they'd already put up their biggest margin of victory of the year.

4-0. In the derby return leg.

Well, their home leg, technically. Same difference. Though their fans are relatively restrained, one thinks there will be plenty of mild jeers thought up for the rest of the rematches here.

The irony is unavoidable, of course. Neutral fans have what they've been searching for for the last two years; an attacking team, who happens to be from Devsgrybe, that can challenge (and, this time, beat) Ousteeble. But Ungalb Devsgrybe, despite being actually more attacking than Mayl Inthreapa, are too pious to really sell themselves to the public. Bandwagon hoppers who cheered the exploits of Ayila Reamlad are now far more interested to follow bright (well, ish) young thing Raysil McFree than root for a side which refuses to play women, at all.

So maybe there wasn't so much of a sea change, after all. One stuck-in-their-ways team go down, one win it all, with the Hayz brothers fated to wind up on opposite ends of the table. Ousteeble may be second, to be sure, but defense lives on; with Munnerput gone, there will be nobody more attacking than Brandith or either Ungalb next season, while when it comes to defense Nithgard, Atteregav Numa, and Ousteeble can all boast even more defensive setups.

And so can all of our new arrivals:

Passkay GU: A club less known for their football skills than their incomprehensible political leanings. They have something to do with the workers' control of...stuff...but in a totally not-communist way? While the rest of us are baffled by that, they quietly won the division.
Rogglebo TU: While their defender Yels Hannoway took up a coaching position after her retirement, her nidjlome Vofe Santee plays on. Apparently she's not much help as a coach in any sense, but his defensive skills are more than up to par, and now their black and blue (in a uniform sense, not the other kind) side visit the top flight.
Assertham TU: Fourth time lucky? Well, probably not, but you have to think that after their bid for survival failed two seasons ago, at least the new wave of bandwagon-hoppers will be less fatalistic than the old crowd. Can't be much worse.

Twentieth Aeropag Football Invitational

Invitees
Rather than resort to its usual gimmicks to entice the world’s top clubs to enter, the Paripana Sporting Council decided to celebrate the tournament’s twentieth edition by bringing all of its past winners back to Aeropag (or at least all those still active in the footballing world, a criterion which excludes Albrecht FC, Kapundae FC, Mylfe CE, Ciudad Soluca, and Stithis-Knolees) for a special extended competition. Joining the twelve Invitational champions were six-time Champions’ Cup champions Yuba United, Globe Cup champions Neurologists, nine domestic league champions (including the first appearances by Gold League, Dirisi Ampi’un, and Daineri Super League teams), and definitely-not-champions CF Mont-Pluie, invited for nostalgia’s sake.

Since twenty-four teams were invited rather than the usual sixteen, the PSC decided to sort the teams into four pots rather than the usual two. Two pots were set aside for the twelve past winners (including host club CF Aéropag, who for the first time in competition history were not placed in the seeded pot), and the other twelve teams were split into two pots in accordance with the usual method. Consequently, the “Seeded Invitees” in Pot 1 were Yuba United, Neurologists, and the top four invited league champions (including Iturributa United who, despite the fact that they now officially represent the Futbol Iturributako Federazioa, were invited as champion of the Astograthian Football League First Division and seeded accordingly); the “Seeded Champions” in Pot 2 were the six clubs that most recently won the Invitational; the “Unseeded Champions” in Pot 3 were the other winners of the Invitational; and the remaining six clubs were the “Unseeded Invitees” in Pot 4.

The twenty-four teams were to be drawn into six groups of four. Since three associations (Cafundéu, Krytenia, and the PSC) had two different clubs in the tournament as prior champions, Aguazul had its league champion invited in addition to one-time champion Mapabore Juventud (back when they were in Aguazul’s top flight…), and Yuba United won the Champions’ Cup to provide a third PSC team, the draw format was something of a challenge. Since the semifinals were to be conducted as groups of three, with teams from Groups A, C, and E (dubbed the “blue” groups during the draw ceremony) in one semifinal and teams from groups B, D, and F (dubbed the “gold” groups) in the other, the organizing committee decided that once one of the teams from Aguazul, Cafundéu, or Krytenia was drawn into a group, the other team from that association must be drawn into a group of the opposite color. Likewise, it was decided that both CF Aéropag and Sokojiwa Dosi CK should be drawn into groups of the opposite color of Yuba United, but not in the same group as each other.

As is traditional, Champions’ Cup winner Yuba United was placed in Group A, which meant the other Paripanan clubs would have to be placed in “gold” groups, and Globe Cup winner Neurologists was placed in Group B without any side effects. The rest of the draw panned out like this:

Rules
The standings for the group stage were determined, in order, by points, head-to-head result, goal difference, goals scored, and fair play standings. The winner of each group advanced to the playoff bracket (for 1st–6th place), the runner-up to the consolation bracket (for 7th–12th place), the third-placed team to the classification bracket (for 13th–18th place), and the fourth-placed team to the kindoff bracket (for 19th–24th place).

In each bracket, two semifinal groups of three were formed, in which the standings were determined, in order, by points, goal difference, goals scored, and kicks from the penalty mark. In the final round, the winners of the semifinal groups play the match for first place in the bracket, the runners-up play the match for third place, and the losing teams play the match for fifth place.

Kindoff bracket
Mapabore Juventud and CF Mont-Pluie, the only second-division club and the only club which has been relegated to the second division in the tournament, somewhat predictably faced off in the kindoff. Less predictably, however, both clubs failed to score a single goal in 540 minutes of Olympic Tower football; both found the back of the net for the first time in extra time, and CF Mont-Pluie’s second goal ensured that they would maintain their spotless record of not quite finishing last. Besting the Aguazuleño and Ad’ihani clubs only on tiebreakers were Gimnasia, winners of this competition not so long ago who have since struggled against their domestic rivals, and Korriga, the Daineri champions with no global credentials to speak of; experience ultimately triumphed in the heat of a penalty shootout. Great Falls Cymru and Vegai 4th Quad clearly established themselves as the best of the worst by following up on their three group stage defeats with two semifinal victories apiece, and only one goal separated the sides in the final match which saw the FĈB champions claim nineteenth place.

Unfortunately for Maethorü, this is what happens when you don’t use alphabetical order as a tiebreaker. →

Maethorü scored against Mercia Bromham. Mercia Bromham scored against Maethorü, who scored against Ranca Toco, who scored against Maethorü and again against Mercia Bromham, who then scored against Ranca Toco. Three matches, six goals, and all it accomplished was filling a table with serendipitous “20”s. The Midlanders and Sarrafeiros played to a result in the final semifinal match that aided the All Greens more than it did themselves, leaving the Olympic Tower Stadium crowd to hold their breath as the Maethorü squad warmed up to take their part in football history. The rules for this season’s unique semifinal stage naturally borrowed from those of the world’s most prominent three-team tournament, UICA’s Super Cup, which provides for kicks from the penalty mark if two teams are tied at the end of the three matches, or even if all three teams are tied. In the Super Cup, this has never come to pass, largely because the Series B Champions’ Cup winner rarely steps up to the level of their two top-flight opponents, but fans in Aeropag got the very first opportunity to see how it might play out if it did.

The shootout began not with a coin toss, but with the referee throwing a specially-provided six-sided die marked with the numbers 1 through 3 twice. Maethorü, as the non-participant club in the preceding match, was allowed the first choice of number, and Ranca Toco, the designated away team in the preceding match, made the second call, leaving Mercia Bromham with the remaining number. Ranca Toco won the right to select which team would kick first, which team would kick second, and which goalkeeper would defend first in the first round; they chose Maethorü, Mercia Bromham, and Mercia Bromham. (Thus, Maethorü would shoot against Mercia’s goalkeeper, Mercia against Ranca Toco’s, and then Ranca Toco against Maethorü’s in odd-numbered rounds; in even-numbered rounds, Maethorü would shoot against Ranca Toco’s goalkeeper, Mercia against Maethorü’s, and then Ranca Toco against Mercia’s.) Each team would have three chances to strike against both opposing goalkeepers, for a total of six kicks rather than the customary five; in the event that all three teams were still tied after that, each team would get one further kick against each goalkeeper until the tie was settled or reduced to two teams, in which case those teams revert to the conventional shootout format.

Ranca Toco fell behind with a miss to close out the first six-pack of shots, and two saves by their goalkeeper were not enough to restore parity in the second double round-robin. Maethorü and Mercia Bromham took casualties from each other in the fifth and sixth rounds, and the Cafundelense side took their chance on the final kick of the eighteen to send the contest to rounds 7 and 8. There, Ranca Toco got the better of their opponents, winning the group but leaving a tie for second. One more kick from each side was all that was required to settle that remaining question; Mercia Bromham finished second by scoring after the champions of Ko-oren failed to do the same.

There was another classification semifinal, but it hardly seems worth mentioning after that. Dunboor FC conceded goals like they’re going out of style to finish third in the group, lulling last season’s winner Arcticala Inlet into believing they were actually an élite team until they suffered defeat to Polarian champions FC Cape St Paul. In the final round, all of the survivors from spot kicks were victorious except for the victor of the shootout itself, making way for the Polarian side to claim top honors in the bracket.

Consolation bracket
Firewood City, who have participated in this tournament as many times as any other club except CF Aéropag, set up a meeting with their hosts after falling to a rampant Iturributa United in the group stage and then to the revolutionary newcomers in the semifinal. CF Aéropag, who were just short of staying on level terms with the other seven-time entrant, went on to finish twelfth by losing each of their last three matches after the emotional high of a comfortable victory over their once-parent club. Revolutionaries ended up tenth, which wouldn’t be too bad a result for a débutant even in a normal-sized Invitational, while Juvillian Martinax will be wondering what could have been if they had just scored that one last goal against le Bleu-et-Orange to tie for first place in their semifinal. Globe Cup champions Neurologists, whose own goal-difference heartbreak came at an earlier stage, got the better of Mar Sara FC, who didn’t seem to be in their usual marauding form after the Vanorian league’s abrupt suspension.

Playoff bracket
The two Champions’ Cup finalists, and the top-rated club in the world over the past decade, all in the same semifinal group. It’s the stuff dreams are made of for the neutrals. For the players, coaches, and supporters of those three teams, it’s the stuff of nightmares. It all kicked off with the rematch of the final in Ciudagua. Despite the hype, it was a far cry from that tense contest in which the trophy engraver was forced to wait until the very last kick from the penalty mark before he picked up his stencil; this time, the Silver-Blues were firmly in control against the now-defected Scarlet Stripes over the ninety minutes. Yuba United went on to book their place in the final with a win over Fontvielle Impact, exacting revenge for an extra-time defeat in their prior meeting last season. The last of the three matches was merely to decide which team would have a shot at bronze; a draw would have given Fontvielle Impact that opportunity, but one goal was all Iturributa United needed to win it.

The other semifinal involved some lesser names, but they provided greater drama. The three clubs had combined to concede only two goals in nine group matches, and that number failed to increase as Sokojiwa Dosi CK held their opponents to scoreless draws in the first two matches. Despite their best defensive efforts, the only chance that remained for an all-Paleoparipian final would be another Karelan result between Unión de Ciudagua and Avidia United followed by another tripartite shootout. The first goal of the last match eliminated that hope, and then the equalizer led the sidelined Syokajis to believe that they would end up last on goals scored, while a shootout would decide which of the other two clubs would go through to face Yuba. However, a late winning goal for Unión de Ciudagua rendered that procedure unnecessary, and as a side effect promoted Sokojiwa Dosi into the bronze medal match ahead of the Krytenian runners-up.

The match for fifth place, an unusual addition to the playoff bracket, was also an uninspiring one, as it didn’t seem that either Fontvielle Impact or Avidia United cared all that much about whether their plaque would have a five or a six on it; nonetheless, they managed to drag out that decision for one hundred and twenty minutes plus penalties. The battle for third was more intriguing, with Iturributa United breaking through the rigid Sokojiwa defense to raise their tally to an incredible fifteen goals for the tournament and take home the bronze. The gold medal match drew obvious comparisons to Yuba United’s Champions’ Cup triumph in Ciudagua, as they now faced the team whose stadium they had borrowed on that night; the drama lived up to expectations, and lasted just as long, as the Silver-Blues once again faced a shootout to put their name on a trophy they had never won before (though the circumstances are hardly comparable: they haven’t even won a trophy that looks like this one before, which is quite unusual for Yuba United). Once again they prevailed, joining Sokojiwa Dosi CK and CF Aéropag as the third PSC club to win the Aeropag Invitational.

Final classification
As Olympic Tower cleaning crews noticed a number of aluminium semifinalist medals left unopened in their original boxes in the players’ hotel suites after last season’s tournament, the PSC decided to scrap the practice (and the medals themselves) and return to the tradition of awarding medals only to the top three teams. In addition to the usual prize of gold awarded to the participating clubs, the amounts of which were adjusted to account for the unusual number of teams, each club was given a specially-minted 20 g Au coin bearing the twentieth season logo on the obverse and the silhouette of the Olympic Tower on the reverse. The players’ goody bags, which as always contained gifts of varying value based on their team’s group stage finish, each included a replica of the commemorative coin in chocolate. The design of the commemorative plaques given to teams finishing fifth through twenty-fourth, and of the engraving on the trophies awarded to the top four teams, was subtly improved for this season. (Some within the PSC suggested that since trophies are typically awarded to all teams in the playoff bracket, they should also be provided to the fifth- and sixth-place finishers, but no one got around to designing them.)

Yesterday, we reported that the commitee for sports in the nation of Lavonian Islands have decided to form a league inside our nation. 1 Team was also announced, the Ville d'Argent Foreurs, based on the south island. Now, we have more details. The league will be made up of 2 conferences, North Island and South Island. Also, the teams in each conference have been announced. Each conference contains 5 teams, who will play 8 regular season games against each other. In the playoffs, the top 4 in each conference will play, with a 1v4 and 2v3 format. Trofeo del Príncipe Eighth Edition

Following the end of the Super Cup and the UICA cycle, it's time for another edition of the Torneo del Príncipe, the eighth one. This edition was lucky to count with three new FAs in the competition (well, two actually "new" and a returning one), as the Taeshani and Falconfar leagues received invitations for the first time ever, and Cotdelapoms regained its place in the most prestigious tournament for the "best of the rest" in international football. Also, to be noted, the Vilitan/Turori FA was denied an invitation this time, as one of its clubs decided to defy the VFA's own procedures and criteria to choose its invitees and decided to submit an application to participate, which was accordingly rejected. And the Polarian FA was also denied an invitation, but no-one cares about them, does anyone?

Invitees, Format and Draw

Eight teams from eight nations were invited to take part in this Trofeo del Príncipe edition, and were split into two groups of four teams each, with two of them as "seeded teams", and the rest as "unseeded teams", making four "seeded" teams and four "unseeded" teams.

With two groups of four, the VFA once again made sure the Valladar and Whirl-Islander representatives, as hosts and special invitees, respectively, were drawn in different groups, leaving Echegoyan FC and Athens Town as the only seeded teams to be drawn during the group draw. Like last time, unseeded teams were separated into two pots, with the Taeshani and Cotdelapomais representatives in a pot, and the Erathi and Falconfar teams being placed in the other pot.

GROUP A: Olympique de Fontvielle, Athens Town, Montréal, La Pinatra Crusaders.
GROUP B: Portland Greencaps, Echegoyan FC, Real Chinchinhua, Enzo FC.

Venues

Nine venues were selected by the VFA for the competition. By order of the organizing committee, Olympique de Fontvielle played all their group stage games at their home stadium, Stade de l'Amitié, in Fontvielle. The other venues for Group A games were Stade Omnisports Gatineau, in Gatineau, Stade Jules Picot, in Bezieres, and Stade de la Frontière, in Fontvielle.

Group B games were played at two stadia: Estádio Estadual Armando Bozelli, in Campo Grande and Estádio do Maldonado, in Maldonado.

The semifinals were played at the Metropolis Dome and City of Metropolis Stadium, both in Metropolis, while the Third Place Play-Off match and the Final were both played at the Alexander I National Stadium in Metropolis.

Group Stage

The group standings were determined by: points, goal difference, head-to-head result, goals scored and a one-game playoff, in order. The winner and runner-up of each group advanced to the semifinals, while the other two teams in each group were eliminated from the competition.

GROUP A:

Olympique de Fontvielle, as hosts, were expected to sweep the floor with their opposition, like they did in their previous two appearances, however, it seemed that l'OF were far too confident and, after starting with an easy win over the newbies, crashed against Montréal and tied Athens Town, finishing second of the group in the process. With the 2-1 victory against Olympique, the Cotdelapomais team bounced back from their 3-0 opening loss against Athens Town and eventually seized first place in the group with a clear 2-0 win against the team from Falconfar. And, on the eliminated outfits' side, the Citiz team were left with the frustration of missing out on a berth to the semifinals by a single goal, while La Pinatra Crusaders can content themselves with the victory they picked against the Citiz.

GROUP B:

Group "B"upset (yes, awful pun...) featured once again two minnows hitting the favourites in the head, with Enzo FC (wait, who are them?) and Real Chinchinhua both "teaching" Echegoyan and the Greencaps how to play. Enzo, for example, held the Whirl-Islanders (or should we say Brantalentians?) to a scoreless draw in their début and sank Echegoyan in dead last of the group. The Taeshanis also shocked the ~~Astrogothic~~ Astograthian representative in their début and made it two in a row with a win over the Greencaps, so the final matches were merely played to see who ended where, and Enzo dropped Chinchinhua to second, while Portland and Echegoyan bowed out of the tournament with a draw, returning the tournament's Wooden Spoon to its rightful place.

SEMI-FINALS:

Three originally unseeded sides, plus the host made it to the final four of the tournament this time, with Montréal edging past Real Chinchinhua in the first semifinal, and securing one of the two top places of this Trofeo del Príncipe.

However, the second semifinal was more of a dramatic affair between Enzo FC and Olympique de Fontvielle. The Erathis had successfully held the hosts to a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 minutes, and again to a 2-2 draw at the end of the first extra time. When it looked like the match was going to penalties, Enzo managed to kill Olympique's chances with an unexpected counterattack, Erathore putting a team in the final for the very first time, and Valladares having to settle for another disappointing TPPO.

Congratulations to Montréal from Cotdelapoms, who won the eighth Trofeo del Príncipe in the most one-sided final so far and took the shiny crystal trophy to Southwest Rushmore for the first time along with P$ 750,000, and 23 gold medals. Despite the huge clobbering in the final game, Enzo FC's spectacular run was good enough to grant them P$ 500,000 and 23 silver medals, while Real Chinchinhua managed to earn P$ 250,000 and the bronze medals of this edition with their win over hosts Olympique in the third place play-off. Meanwhile, Olympique's overconfidence was accordingly punished with fourth place and just P$ 100,000, with no right to any kind of medal. The other four teams that competed earned P$ 50,000 each.

FOREURS LAND BIG FOREIGN UNIVERSITY TALENT
Ville d'Argent, Lavonian Islands. The city of Ville d'Argent, the largest city on the Southern Island, is in a period known as Soccermania. What, with a local boy playing goal for the Lavonian World Cup team, and the 2 best players raised here, they should be. But, another reason to be excited in Ville d'Argent is the new profesional Soccer League. The city earned the very first team in the league, the Foreurs. This team was named in tribute to the Silver Miners in the area. Not many details have been announced, except for the fact the League Draft will take place tomorrow. The order has also been revealed.First things first, however, the Foreurs have yet another reason to get excited. Top Northern Sunrise University midfielder Justin Redwing has agreed to play for the team, and is excited about the coming season. We were unable to get an interview with Justin, as he is preparing to leave for Lavonia this following week. However, we did get an interview with team manager Witon Makinov. When asked the question of how he believed Justin could benefit the team, he replied: "Our team's management believes Justin's talent with the ball, and his solid defensive play, that fit the style this team wants to play". Justin will arrive next week, hopefully in time for the new season, which has been rumoured to start in late May or early June.

After a tough season, the Regional Leagues are yet to send their top products to a special playoff round. A total of thirty-two teams from North, South, West and East will square off for the four spots at the newly rebranded Union League Three. This season will also feature teams from some Northern Sunrise Islands ally nations such as Midlothian Heart, Saint Anne and Jacob, Andarahy and Flock Nation.

"NSI Cup starts this weekend."
The passport for the Cygnus Cup at Northern Sunrise Islands starts this weekend as the NSI Cup starts its tournament. The Nation's Cup will be dispured by a total of 84 teams from all the divisions. The 20 members of the recently re-branded Northern Sunrise Islands Premier League will be playing, including recently born San Jose Sharks and Matthew City Senators. The San Jose Sharks, who will be wearing teal and black are the remaints of the Under-20 team of Ultima Escolha Hippotigrines, meanwhile the Matthew City Senators, who will be wearing red, black and gold are the remaints of the Under-20 team of Demonocracy of Metal Zombies. However, the Senators suffered most changes, releasing some of its players and filling this vault with rookies from the Universitarian Pool. The Union League One and Two will be fully represented meanwhile no teams from the League Three will compete, even though six teams that recently rised to League Two, Beart City Roses, Charlestone Town Ajax, Mingleten Town Kitties, Maori Town Warriors, Amy City Roses and Mink City Survivors will enter at Round One. Round One will have sixty-four teams playing meanwhile Round Three will feature the twelve survivors from Round One together with the twenty members of Premier League.
The tournament will be played in aggregate style, no away goals rule, except for the Final and 3rd Place Match, that will be played respectively at the Allejo Stadium at Mardi an the InComm Arena at Matthew City.

"Rangers end NSI Cup's participation with Third Place at home."
The InComm Arena, recently built with 125,000 seats was completely astonished as hometown Matthew City Rangers beaten 2-0 the Davencreek Victinis. The shocker was that, in fact, the winning team plays at the Union League One, meanwhile the losing team was almost champion of the Premier League. Most of the Premier League teams dissapointed, even though none of the Premier League teams, except for the San Jose Sharks and the Matthew City Senators, used their top players. This is the second time in the season that the Rangers almost reach top place. With Lynette Bourbon, former national champion with the NSI Marills, the Rangers haven't dissapointed their fans, obtaining second place at the Southern Conference of the Union League Two and this third place against the favorite Victinis.

Not in the same way of the 3rd Place Match, the Allejo Stadium at Mardi witnessed. the Matthew City Senators beat the Selyne City Athenians in penalty shootout for the NSI Cup. The recently born Senators, part of the team that used to be the unofficial under-20 team from Demonocracy of Metal, have earned their first title ever with the NSI Cup. The Athenians were the underdog and most of the players were indeed proud of the chance of going to a final. "We wish we could've won." declared Martin Rousseau, forward of the Selyne City Athenians. "But the Senators were superior. We don't mind losing a final to a Premier League team, after all, we fought hard and obtained respect. Lost the cup, but earned pride for the Union League Two next season.". Felipe Pessoa, Center Midfielder of the Senators, recently signed from the State University of Amy City, said loudly, already in party mood. "This is all I wanted. Win a trophy at the state you started playing football. I studied at Amy City and got to play at Matthew City Senators. And this is my gift, not only to the Senators, but to the Island of Amy, my teammates, the fans and myself.".

Welcome back to another season of soccer! The 3rd season of 2012 for the Torisakia Soccer League has begun. With all 26 teams from last year preparing, It's now a great time to make some predictions on what will happen. Last season, the ASFC Criminals won their first ever title after beating the Fortside Ichabods. It was also the first ever game series in the Torisakia Soccer League. A best 3-out-of-5 series was played by Fortside and ASFC, with ASFC winning the series 3-2. There are some suprises in rank this season, Here are the updated ranks:

As you can see, many teams have gotten a lot better rankings since last season. ASFC Criminals still have the #1 spot in the nation after their championship win. Fishmarket North has it's best ranking since 1977 after their loss in the championship game against rival Fishmarket South. Willis Valkyries have a good ranking still. Finally, the Tokai Ice Birds have their worst rank since 1941. There are a lot of suprises on rankings this season. Should be a good one!

The playoff system will be different since 2 teams are defunct. The top 8 teams will go to the playoffs and will follow the same playoff schedule that was used in the first season of 2012. However, the Championship game will still be a best 3-out-of-5 series.

This season, the Bruch H. Coker Trophy and the Gorbaduc Hogpen-Whitfoot Trophy will be awarded again. The Bruch H. Coker Trophy is awarded to the best player in the league, which was won by Johnny Kelso last season. The Gorbaduc Hogpen-Whitfoot Trophy is awarded to the top 2 players from each conference, which were won by Andrew Henderson and Brady Mergenthal from the Grand Conference and Johnny Kelso and Hagos Merbrahtu from the Pro Conference last season.

We have some bigger predictions this season than last season. First off, we think that the winner of the Bruce H. Coker Trophy will be Johnny Kelso again. Next, we think the best team from each conference will be the ASFC Criminals and Berchem Linx. That's also our prediction for the championship game. Now, we aren't gonna make a prediction for the championship game. But we are gonna say that Johnny Kelso will have a great season with the ASFC Criminals. Congrats to the ASFC Criminals who won the 2012 Torisakia Soccer League Championship this season! The MVP of the game was Mike Smith. Johnny Kelso won the Gorbaduc Hogpen-Whitfoot Trophy again. It's the ASFC Criminals' 3rd championship win all-time. The Criminals' played in the championship game in 1968, 1972, 1979, 1996, and 2006 but lost all of them. They also have made a three-peat, meaning they have one 3 titles in a row!

EPL Season 20,042 Preview

After a year of suspension, the EPL is back at it, and while the transfer window was mostly quiet, both Raynor City United and Mar Sara added depth to their title challenging squads with a Pacitalian defender a piece. After nearly a decade of keeping out of the transfer craziness, the past two seasons have seen the clubs in Valanora willing to venture out into the market again, after the usual pipelines of Starblaydia, Vephrall, and Sorthern Northland were unable to provide new talent for various reasons. This season looks to be a three way fight between United, Mar Sara, and Hondo for the championship, while others like Capri and Soldarian will have to fight to break up the triumphative that has taken place if they desire to get into the Champions Cup, following the EPL's coefficient falling to where we are now only awarded three spots instead of the usual four. That makes the usual secure sixth place spot for the Globe Cup spot also insecure, as Ibini has proven time and time again it can handle the upper middle tier of the EPL in the playoffs. Down below, Rolalas looks to secure their spot back in the Premiership after a few seasons in the Star League, but both Turmondale sides, Sharala, and Straightdale will be looking to avoid the drop as well.

V-League: 30th Season Tropical Trophy
(Note: The Tropical Trophy is a seasonal competition between the Vilitan Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions. There has been some controversy as to whether it is a "Season Ending" event or a "Season beginning" event, though it has tended to be closer to the start of the new season, then the end of the previous one as it was during earlier Vilitan Seasons. For this seasons Tropical Trophy, The V-League Stellar Division & Vilitan Cup Champions (Jungle Strike FC) and Stellar Division Runners Up (Turoki Tide FC) were invited.

Jungle Strike FC - v. - Turoki Tide

Tivali Ring Stadium, Alikki-Corra, Vilita

A match that may have previously seemed like a lopsided affair on paper took on a new look as Jungle Strike FC made their 16th Tropical Trophy appearance taking on the Turoki Tide, Tropical Trophy debutants having qualified by virtue of finishing runner-up in the Stellar Division during Season 29. The rise of the Tide brought recognizable names back to Turoki Island as the Tide now boasted 8 recognized internationals, all from Vilita or Turori, in their starting 11.

As usual, the Jungle Strike FC lineup could almost double as the Vilita Jungle Cats lineup, with the lone exception being Krytenian defender Matt Ordish. The Tide were led by Steffyn Siazzu, their captain and all time record transfer having arrived in the offseason from the Yeaddin Owls.

Jomur Hulyer had the first chance of the match inside the first 10 minutes. Hulyer charged in from the wing and fired a shot that Tide goalkeeper Hooizu Nuakoi could only get a glove on. The ball fell to the feet of Aniara Jiurjai who couldn't miss, giving Strike the early 1-0 lead.

Strike had another opportunity quickly through Viji-mara Lawaai, but his effort was saved by Nuakoi. The Tide's Siazzu got the matches first yellow card 15 minutes in, but the Tide responded brightly with their first chance that went just wide.

Lawaai hit the bar for Strike and Jiurjai forced Nuakoi into an impressive save as the action was going from end to end with both sides getting chances to find the back of the net. Gadois had the final chance of the half for Strike but his header was saved comfortably by Nuakoi, preserving the single-goal deficit at the half.

Strike hit the bar for the second time right after play resumed but the Tide weathered the pressure and continued responding with end to end play keeping the venom defense on their toes. Loala Kigoouao had a header just before the hour mark that deflected off Simafela on the line before being cleared to safety by Matt Ordish.

Although Strike had the better of the chances in the first hour, the Tide would not go quietly and a nervous end of the match turned to a glorious one as the Tide leveled in the 70th minute in search of their first ever major trophy.

15 minutes from time, Strike manager Calaesa Mitaroka introduced Actalia Mermaioada. The one-time Vilitan National Team prospect most noted for swimming antics during the 49th Cup of Harmony competition fell off the radar while playing for Non-League Surf Jettica, but cought the attention of Mitaroka who snapped the forward up and now introduced them in place of Yves Gadois up top.

But it was another debutant who turned the Tide of the match. Turori National Team forward Loala Kigoouao buried a header 10 minutes from time past Vilita National Team goalkeeper Nycflala Kater on their debut for the club to propel the Turoki Tide into the lead and on their way to silverware for the first time.

As full time approached, Retiso Buran sent a ball into the area that was met by the flying head of Mermaioada, but Nuakoi was equal to the task saving what would inevitably be the last chance of the match.

As the final whistle blew, the island of Turoki erupted in celebration as the Turoki Tide joined an elite list of Tropical Trophy winners, the first winner of the Tropical Trophy not from the main Island of Vilita. The Strike players looked shocked that they had thrown away the opportunity to add to their record 10 Tropical Trophy victories, and had allowed a team they had never previously paid much attention to in the past to start Season 30 with enough momentum to consider themselves title favorites over the defending champs.

Svendogardd-Baltskandio Faglega Fótbolta (SBFF)

The neighboring Rushmori nations of Baltskandio and Svendogardd, sharing Scandinavian heritages and long coastlines along the Great Inland Sea, have joined together to create a professional football league spanning both nations. For Baltskandio this is the first fully professional league in any sport, and no little controversy has been stirred by the league's establishment. The eight established elite all-sports clubs in particular have vehemently protested, and they won a concession of a reserved Globe Cup berth for their top performer through the established First Minister's Cup series.

Relegations

Svendogardd normally relegates its lowest-placed club to their second division and promotes a replacement. Huc Åablæt should have been relegated from the last season, but irregularities in the Svendogardd second division resulted in no relegation or promotion taking place.
Baltskandio, having no other fully-professional football league, does not relegate.

UICA Nominations

Each association gets one Champions' Cup nomination. The SBFF as a whole gets six Globe Cup nominations, with a maximum of four to one association. Both associations have reserved one Globe Cup spot to be determined by means other than the SBFF league table.

Svendogardd's final Globe Cup spot goes to their highest-placed club in the Kuppi Yhtenäisyyttä, the cup of the SBFF.
Baltskandio's final Globe Cup spot goes to the winner of a two-leg playoff between the champions of the Mænds Fodboldliga and Kvinders Fodboldliga, administered by Fodboldforbund i Baltskandio as part of the First Minister's Cup all-sport club competition.

Svendogardd send Hørn to the Champions' Cup and Reijklaåven and Nælon to the Globe Cup with one spot to be determined.

And so the trophy goes back to Jersey Park and Island of Jersey for the 4th time in 5 years! Going into the final day of the season Jersey North were top and it looked like we would have a new champion. However they drew and that gave their local rivals the chance to grab it and the death after being 3rd most of the year. To make things worst for Jersey North, Napio Lions, who were 3rd and could still win the title for a second time going into the final day also won and this pushed Jersey North into were they have been for most of the past 5 years. Jersey FC took the final globe cup spot on the final day with all the teams down to ek888 trying to the death. Hamilpon Rovers and their billionaire owner just fell short on the final day for 4th, well they were the team Island of Jersey were playing. Napio also had a good season closing the gap between them and the globe cup from 3 points to one. East Kilbride city just couldn't make it to the line. Harloop City will look to improve next year. ek888 has a terrible second half of the season, but you can expect them back in UICA play next year. Swift Scorpions after looking like they would pull away from the teams below them have fell back this year. Apfol Town were bottom at halfway but picked up and saved them self on matchday 25. Harloop Untied, well they were lucky but they did win on the final day do maybe they are better than Newland Untied. After losing on the final day Newland Untied were relegated. Choup Birds failed to win their relegation match with Swift Scorpions so they are last and go down.

So we move on now to the challenge league!

Champions, East Kilbride Untied. They had a great season and with now be in the elite league. Hamlipon Wanderers will join them after falling at the final hurdle. Napio City had a good season but started to fall away. Jersey Untied will join the there teams above them in the SBCC. Greenville villa just failed to make it to forth. Breatford were good at the start at the end, but not the middle. Lost both darby games = not too good a season, Greenville Hotspur. Newland Narwhals, tipped to good down done simply a great job. Choup City avoided the drop on the last day. Harloop Hearts fell back on the last after and could have been mid-table. Vanparpoll Vampires you can call them the luckiest team in the league. Apfol Untied last day drama saw them draw with Hamlipon Wanderers cost them the title, and then went down. Penzor Pirates were playing a top team on the final day, East Kilbride Untied. Swift Untied were all over the place but will regroup in Division 3.

International Final Bid
SBCC:Harloop National, seats 150,00O, the Harloop National is the perfect place to hold a SBCC final as not only does it have sate of the art facilities in the stadium it is right in the centre of the vibrant city of harloop. We will start off with the fans experience during the match, on the back of every seat in the stadium there is a board. This board has a let's the fans buy food, drink, team kits, team hats etc with just a few taps of there finger and without leaving they'er seat. This is catered for by a team of over 500 a match. This is in operation during the match and 30 minutes before and after it. The stadium has two big TV at each end of the pitch providing the teams and the score for those who are sometimes a bit forgetful. There is no running track here to bring the fans even closer to the action. Now on to what we have for the teams. The dugouts are massive 20meters by 10meters and each player and coaching staff gets a seat with two arm rests and that is undercover (like the rest of the stadium). The dressing rooms are of equal size and have 30 shower heads and 15 bath tubs each. They also have places for up to 30 players a TV and a 50meter by 30meter medical room. The two teams have different press conference rooms too and we have a car park with room for 200 cars 75 with be reserved for teams and UICA. Of the 7,500 hotel rooms in the city 3,000 will be reserved for teams and UICA.

"First step into League Three starts today."
A group of thirty-two survivors from the Regional Leagues has gathered themselves at the Playoffs. A best-of-five match round robin as the winner will be declared "National Region Champion". The main prize however is to pass for the Second Round. Passing means a spot at the Union League Three and the chance of staying away from relegation for some years. ITV will be broadcasting all the matches on the pay-per-view channels aside from more important match-ups that will be broadcasted by the ITV Regional Channels. The final two matches are going to be played at the recently built InComm Arena at Matthew City. Other Premier League Stadiums will be rebuilt to add more capacity and modernizate them. The only exception is the brand new Princess Mignon Stadium, that will be home for the Mignon Beart Charmers. Other important changes include that the Allejo Stadium will be named Union Stadium and will be home for the Mardi Lopunnies, also increasing their capacity to 150,000 seats, fitting in the normal style of UICA Stadiums.

Season 20,042

As much as things tend to change, they stay that much the same. The clubs that get promoted are more often than not the same clubs who get relegated the next season. Those that have been relegated are usually those same teams that are promoted the following season. It is a perpetual cycle, though broken from time to time, as is RCU's command over the Premiership crown. After losing it to Mar Sara in 20,040, United looked to have secured it but a last matchday draw against Wexax United saw Hondo sweep up from behind them to take the crown. Mar Sara completely fell off the radar, finishing in a distant fifteenth that will have many in the city and nation wondering just what happened. Ibini once again managed to win the V-League, but only just, taking it on goal difference, then winning both of their playoff matches to make it to the Champions Cup. After many years in the Star League, Rolalas had a good first season back in the Premiership, finishing a comfortable fifth and gets to taste the international waters with a Globe Cup berth, while Wexax United will be wondering what could have been if they could have only found a winner against RCU.

Okay, everybody... remember that spreadsheet I'm using in lieu of a new season preview post every month? Remember how I'm doing that to avoid burnout, and such? Well, I've updated it for the start of the 5256 season, and it looks even nicer than it did last time. Here is the link:

Pre-5256 Season Player Database

Again, it is readily available for anybody to view and edit provided they have a Google account. Now, I do ask if you make changes that they be small things like spelling corrections. Nobody likes a troll. Besides, I can undo any change I want and have a hard copy on my laptop, so you'd only be wasting your own time if you screwed with it too much.

Remember, as before, that you can sort the database(s) by selecting the funnel-shaped toggle marked 'filter' in the top bar and then hitting the arrow on the column heading, after which you'll be presented various sort options. Even if you don't want to sort stuff, I have made the file quite a bit easier to read by color-coding the thing...

Players that have not changed teams since last season are in green. Players who have been transferred to a new club in the close season are in blue. Players that are on loan for the 5256 (AKA current) season are in purple. If a player is new to the database (AKA has been added since my last update) his color will be lighter in shade.

Players that have retired as of the end of the 5255 season are in red. They will also be marked with a "Y" in the "Retired?" column. These players have retired before the season I am about to scorinate (in this case, 5256). They will not take the pitch. They are retired. Not, like, about to retire. Retired. They will be removed from the database the next time a season preview update rolls around.

Also note that I have two separate sheets (you can toggle between them with the tabs at the very bottom), labeled "Domestic-Based Players" and "Foreign-Based Players." Unless you're really curious, you probably won't need to look up where players like Fušia Oujadda or Ryurik Mizirov are based... that information is important for me, though. (Don't touch the "Current Year" tab, that affects the "Age Now" column(s) and only I should be updating it.)

In addition to the database, I have also updated all my NSwiki pages. The following link contains a table with information on every one of the 16 clubs in the First Division, including home cities, stadium names and capacity and currently tenured managers. Elsewhere on that page, there is other information, such as general league structure, major rivalries in the top flight, and the division's most successful clubs.

KPFA League First Division

For information on specific teams, you may view these links (in alphabetical order, obviously). All are up to date with kits, crests (if I've made them), rosters (if there are enough players to merit the work, which in most cases there isn't, so consult the player database above), and general club information and history.

Okay, now it's IC time! The first trophy of the KPFA League season is considered to be a minor one, but it still draws millions of viewers since by the time it begins, everybody is fully starved for football. So who won the Purple Pearl Super Cup in 5256? Was it FKM, who won both the league and the cup last season (the first double since Zhevassi did it in 5248)? Or was it Juvapanam, who came second to the People's Club in both competitions? The Invincibles will certainly want to restore some modicum of honor, having failed to collect a single trophy during a season that promised so much.

The First Universitarian Pool of the Nothern Sunrise Islands ended in a progressive success according to the head of the Universitarian Football System, Marcelo Dusouto. "It was incredible to start in a nice way with a decent group of our best talent reaching international level." Considered Number One pick, Francisco Souza declared by cellphone from Andossa Se Mitrin Vega as he signed with Errion Vega FK. "I had some other purposes, but I decided to go with Errion Vega FK as it seemed that it could be more interesting to play around here.". Most of the international rookies were signed by Andossa Se Mitrin Vega teams, FK Kesley signed Andy Cunnington, Loire-Mourenx signed Matthew Di Martine, Vegai 4th Quad signed Zaguba Zagranewba, Hegdellin Acai signed Wayne Gratlinn, Thiago Fortuna and Josué Pedrotti, Piossa Juhinx signed Marcelo Lima and Harri Benepleté. Other International Players signed were Martin Greenvile who will be playing with Albundania's Illinopolis FC, Eduardo Silvana, signed with Knattspyrnufélag Bolúvík from Harjeland and last, but not least, Justin Redwing, who will be playing at debuting Lavonian Islands' Ville d'Argent Foreurs.
