If you had to live in the United States..

Postby Hippostania » Sat May 12, 2012 11:19 am

..what state would you want to live in? Or if you live in the US, what state would you like to live in?

Personally, I'd love to live in a state that has fairly comfortable weather (not too hot, not too cold), and that is politically fairly moderate (not too liberal, not too conservative). The state shouldn't also be in the middle of nowhere (that leaves out the boxy states in the Midwest and the Rockies). My choice would thus be either Virginia or the Carolinas.

Maryland, because I already live here and it's pretty great.

The Carolinas are overrun with fire ants, in my experience.

I'm sure I'd be fine somewhere warm.

The north central states fit your requirements pretty well. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois. California is big enough that you are certain to find a place you like. Virginia is okay, way too much suburbia and the food isn't as good as further south, but you are really close to Baltimore and Washington D.C. that way. The Carolinas are beautiful, but not as moderate politically. Texas works for the same reason as California.

And don't hate on the Rockies, the Denver area is great and the climate is wonderful.

But the midwest is the heartland of the nation!

I live in Kansas, and its aight. I would like to travel to Washington, Oregon, and Alaska and see how I like it out there.

Either Tennessee if I can also pick the city (Nashville's a beautiful, fun, friendly place that mostly escapes the radical political twits that inhabit the majority of the rest of the state), or Nevada if I can't. I like the desert. And prostitutes.

Arizona for the climate, New Hampshire for the political climate.

North Dakota then. I'm pretty sure that's right... I might be thinking of North Korea... definitely one of the two.

I grew up in Mass., I always loved the fact that if you drove an hour west on Rt 2, you could go from downtown to farm/hiking country...Also, an hour drive and you can visit seven or so other states depending on where in Mass. you are...

Now I reside in Northern Vermont, and I love it here too, an hour drive or so and I am in a whole 'nother country (upstate NY, LOL)

Hawaii is hot and has weather and shit.

Maryland is comfortably temperate and is near all sorts of neat cities and areas.

Heard that the environment is nice and Seattle looks like a nice town, close to Vancouver too.

Maine. I have family there, the climate seems to be OK and it would be easier than in most states to escape to Canada

It'd be hard to say which state I'd prefer living in, mainly because I've lived in California all my life.

I guess that I'd like to be some place that's rather warm, but not so warm that I'd have to run the air conditioning every day of the week just to feel comfortable. I'd like to see blue skies most days of the year. And I enjoy some peace and quiet once in a while.

Lepers must have lived it up in that liberal tropical paradise.
