Allanea, I have an important concern to bring up. Slavery, although morally wrong, was (and is on NS) a common practise in earlier civilizations. If an ancient tech nation here on NS practises it, which is quite likely, are you lot going to attack them because of it? Remember, everything in its own time.

Also, how does one define slavery? For example, my people do not pay those that work any wages. No such thing exists. No currency and the like. Are we slavers? I think the definition of just what is, and is not slavery should be defined and specified.

Oh, and another thing... your thread title refers to "the rights of man".... I guess that leaves us out...

Given that the Declaration is a declaration of principles more than it is a treaty (thus the name), we're playing it vague. But as a rule, it does not matter how much you pay them, the question is, do they agree to it? If people are forced to work then it is generally slavery.

Remember, the most productive slaves of all will be those that falsely believe they are free. Slavery, like all of civilizations institutions, has evolved with the passage of time. Its no longer the old style "in your face slavery". Its become far more subtle with time.

Anyhow, we are as a species, let's us just say, are "very pragmatic" and leave it at that...
