Unique Attributes of EHE Equipment
Through the proper utilization, and combination of the unique abilities of Lubyakan ponies employed by EHE throughout the design and manufacturing process, allows EHE to achieve feats that would be considered unthinkable with technology alone. While some corporations dismiss the abilities of ponies and other magic-using species, EHE has embraced these unique residents of the Dominion of the Lubyak, and EHE employed magic users find themselves well compensated for their invaluable labor.

The development of pieces of equipment such as Rota Armor and Marble Explosive Reactive Armor (both described below) have helped to make EHE designed and manufactured equipment some of the best in the region.

Erotan Heavy Engineering prides itself on these technological and magical advancements, and views these advancements as the way forward for the world in terms of military equipment.

Rota Armor is the name for the base material of and EHE armored fighting vehicle’s passive defensive systems. Rota Armor is a unique material of Lubyakan engineering that utilizes the skills and abilities of the unicorn species to create an armor that is uniquely in both its light weight, and protective ability.

Rota Armor is formed out of a standard sheet of Improved Rolled Homogenous Armor produced by standard industrial means. Sheets of IRHA are then enchanted by a specially trained and talented unicorn, in order to create the material known as ‘Rota Armor’. The enchantment cast has been universalized that almost any unicorn or other magical creature with sufficient skill can be utilized in the manufacturing process. Regardless of the caster, the former IRHA is transformed into Rota Armor, creating a supernaturally hard material that is effectively 33% thicker than the original RHA, without any increase in weight.

Rota Armor is often used as the base for more advanced composite armors used on EHE tanks. However, its primary use is found in the hulls of APCs, IFVs, SPAAGS, and other such vehicles that rely only on Rota Armor for protection. The supernatural hardness of the materiel, and the effective increase in thickness without having to weigh down a vehicle with additional armor has proven highly effective on and off the battlefield.

As of this time, domestic production rights to Rota Armor are not allowed to be sold to any third party. Vehicles equipped with Rota Armor are allowed to be freely exported, and Rota Armor itself can be exported in bulk.

Based upon related research in the mechanical containment of magical energies, Marble Explosive Reactive Armor (Marble ERA) is an equivalent to standard ERA utilized by most nations in order to defeat HEAT warheads. However, like in many fields of technology, EHE has found that a combination of standard technological solutions with the skills of magic users leads to a superior product than either alone could.

Marble ERA consists of a form of unique polymer that is capable of storing magical energy. This polymer can be arranged into sheets that are then secured to the outer hull of vehicles. Designed to release its stored energy when struck by an incoming projectile--just like standard ERA--the Marble ERA releases energy, and damages the incoming projectile, thus preserving the armor underneath.

Like standard ERA, each section of Marble impacted and reacted would be unable to detonate again.Similar to Rota Armor, the main advantage of Marble is its reduction in weight in comparison to standard ERA. A single sheet of Marble ERA approximately 2 cm thick would be able to disrupt the impact of a 120 mm APFSDS kinetic energy penetrator (KEP) to such an extent that it may prevent penetration entirely. Newer version of Marble ERA such as Marble-B have shown the ability to disrupt the penetration of even larger and more durable KEPs.

Marble ERA can be exported, but the manufacturing process remains classified for reasons of national security. As such, domestic production rights for Marble ERA can not be released, but it can be exported attached to other EHE products, or on its own if you wish to attach Marble ERA to your own vehicles.

Note: Rota Armor and Marble Explosive Reactive Armor are available for purchased separately from any vehicle. Prices will be discussed on a case by case basis.

Our Products
Note: As the DPR for Rota Armor and Marble ERA can not be released, the DPR for vehicles listed as equipped with such equipment will be modified to be constructed with standard materiel. Rota Armor and Marble ERA equipped vehicles will be exported, but must be manufactured within the Dominion of the Lubyak.

OOC: Thank you to Licana, Orussia, and Yohannes for giving me feedback on these things.

T-105A ‘Orc’ Exploitation Tank
For Single Unit: NS$ 4.9 million
Domestic Production Rights: NS$ 70 billion
The T-105B's TA15 main cannon has had its standard steel barrel with VMK AG's Frontier Gun Barrel, dramatically reducing the weight of the tank, and allowing it to achieve superior mobility performance, with no decrease in firepower. The vehicle's engine and suspension have also been upgraded, providing the vehicle with improved mobility and reliability, while its electronic systems have also been upgraded, in order to increase the exploitation tank's synergy with the rest of a military force.

For Single Unit: NS$ 5.2 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

As part of the development procedures for the new T-120 Goldhorn Exploitation Battle Tank, a new 125 mm ETC gun has been developed for vehicles in the ~50 tonne weight class, and the T-105BV has been designed to take advantage of the most modern developments for those customers who wish to have their existing T-105 fleets upgraded to the new standards of modern warfare. The single most important change is the replacement of the conventional TA15 cannon with the new TA19 125 mm L/55 ETC cannon, which provides substantially increased firepower for the vehicle. In addition, the engine has been upgraded to more modern standards, making it both more powerful and efficient, allowing the T-105BV greatly increased range while allowing the addition of a Colossus APS to provide active hardkill defense against ATGMs and KEPs.

The T-105BV also plays host to a series of upgrades to its electronic systems, ranging from general software upgrades to the installation of the new TFA-17 Blinder Mk III electronic countermeasure system, designed to provide additional softkill defense against ATGMs. The fire control system has also been overhauled, allowing the T-105BV to engage at full combat efficiency even at the limits of its combat range, while intra and inter unit connections allow units of T-105BVs to coordinate their movements and actions with other friendly forces in the area for maximum combat effectiveness in all situations.

For Single Unit:NS$ 6 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

T-110A ‘Ogre’ Main Battle Tank
For Single Unit: NS$ 5.5 million
Domestic Production Rights: NS$ 95 billion
The T-110B's TA17 main cannon has had its standard steel barrel with VMK AG's Frontier Gun Barrel, dramatically reducing the weight of the tank, and allowing it to achieve superior mobility performance, with no decrease in firepower. The T-110B also incorporates improved fire control and data transfer systems hardware.

For Single Unit: NS$ 5.6 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

The T-110M is the current variant in use in Lubyakan Army mid-level readiness and reserve formations, and its export is restricted. The T-110BV incorporates both the VMK AG Frontier Gun Barrel, and also includes the installation of Discordant Chaos Armor, maintaining most of the increased mobility of the B variant, while dramatically increasing its on survivability. The T-110M also mounts an external 2 cell GMPM-01 Mk II multi-purpose missile battery, granting it increased first strike capability, as well as some defensive ability against low flying aircraft and helicopters.

For Single Unit: NS$ 6.2 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

The T-110U is a massive departure from the previous models of the T-110, so different that many in the Lubyakan military have taken to nicknaming it the 'Imperial Ogre', and is the current variant used in high readiness formations. As such, production runs of the T-110U are limited to Lubyakan Allies and upon special approval of the Ministry of Defnse only. Like the T-110M, the T-110U continues to mount both VMK AG's 'Frontier' Gun Barrel, as well as Discordant Chaos Armor, although the Discordant system has been improved to the standards set by the T-115B. The T-110U also mounts an external 4 cell GMPM-01 Mk II multi-purpose missile battery, intended to supplement the tank's long ranged anti-armor capabilities, as well as provide the vehicle defensive ability against low flying aircraft and helicopters.

The T-110U has also exchanged its previously installed gas turbine engine for an advanced diesel engine, allowing performance to be maintained, while simultaneously leading to a vast increase in operational combat range. The T-110U also benefits from upgrades to its fire control, communications, and other electronic systems, intended to increase the ability of the tank to operate successfully on the modern battlefield. The vehicle's active defensive systems have also been updated, increasing their effectiveness against even the most modern of anti-tank munitions.

Perhaps the most prominent alteration for the T-110U is the replacement of the standard turret with an unmanned model, and the shift of the entire crew into the heavily armored body of the tank. The T-110U maintains the bustle autoloader, resulting in the unmanned turret having a very distinctive wedge shape. The T-110U maintains its twin 30 mm cannon mount in a RWS mounted atop the unmanned turret. The addition of the unmanned turret dramatically decreases the tank's head on profile, leading to a remarkable increase of survivability for both the tank and its crew.

For Single Unit: NS$ 8.9 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

T-115A ‘Chimera’ Heavy Tank
For Single Unit: NS$ 9.1 million
Domestic Production Rights: NS$ 190 billion
The T-115B is the current variation employed by the Lubyakan Army, and as such has its availability under increased scrutiny, and is not available, except to nations and organizations closely allied to the Dominion of the Lubyak. The T-115B has had its DCA system reconfigured using newly discovered methods, dramatically increasing the system's life span and decreasing its maintenance needs. The B is also equipped with an eternal 4 cell box launched for the GMPM-01 Mk II multi-purpose missile, granting it increased first strike capability, as well as some defensive ability against low flying aircraft and helicopters.

For Single Unit: NS$ 9.8 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

T-120 'Goldhorn' Exploitation Tank
For Single Unit: NS$ 5.4 million
Domestic Production Rights: Unavailable

The T-120M is the export variant of the T-120 Goldhorn Exploitation tank, and is delivered without software, electronics, Rota armour or Marble ERA. All these systems are left available for the purchaser to install their own system of choice, and is intended for those who desire the system to be integrated more closely with their militaries.

For Single Unit: NS$ 4.4 million
Domestic Production Rights: NS$ 100 billion

Summary
In years past, the T-105 Orc was the mainstay of Lubyakan armored formations, however, in modern times its lack of armor and weak gun have rendered it obsolete as a Main Battle Tank. However, upgrades to its engine, transmission, and suspension systems have rendered the T-105 extreme fast and reliable, granting it a new role in life as a medium tank. In order to remain competitive, it is equipped with modern fire control systems, and upgrades to its armor and the addition of active defense systems to grant it a fighting chance against even the best armor in the world. At the same time, its legendary high speed makes it an excellent scout vehicle, and allow it to keep up with--and even outpace--infantry mounted in APCs and IFVs, while its low cost enables it to be quickly built and deployed in large numbers.

History and Combat Record
.The T-105 Orc was originally designed to serve as a Main Battle Tank in the early 1990s as a development of the previous T-100 Griffon Main Battle Tank. As the T-100 moved into obsolescence due to its older electronic systems--such as fire control, navigation and communication systems--the T-105 was developed to fill the new role for a main battle tank for the Dominion of the Lubyak. While the hull and armor layout of the T-100 were kept, along with its main gun, almost every other system on the T-105 was replaced. The T-100s engine--already powerful--was replaced with the even more powerful 6T-7 Engine, which granted the T-105 the high power-to-weight ratio of 26 hp/ton. In a bid to increase firepower, the ISAW-11 Heavy Machine Gun that previous served as the T-105s coaxial weapon was upgraded to the AAW-19 35 mm cannon, in order to allow the T-105 to engage hostile light vehicles without the use of its main cannon. Finally, the fire control systems, navigation and communication electronic systems aboard the T-105 Orc were replaced with more modern ones. In fact, the Orc was the first Lubyakan vehicle designed from the ground up to be compatible with the HIVE-BCS that currently serves to coordinate Lubyakan armored forces.

After its design, and presentation, the T-105 was adopted as the Dominion’s standard main battle tank from approximately 1990 to 2002, when the T-110 that replaced it arrived. In the T-105s 12 years of service as a main battle tank, it was sold in large number to the Dominion’s allies in the Ilenan Solar Empire, where it performed well against the armored vehicles of both Erador and the Ilenaskov Republic. Issues in the safety of the tank’s ammunition storage were identified and corrected during this time. The Orc was widely exported amongst Lubyakan allies, where its simplicity and improved electronic systems made it a valuable vehicle in their armies. However, when the T-110 Ogre was introduced in 2002, the days of the Orc seemed numbered.

However, while the Ogre was a superior vehicle to the Orc in many ways, the Ogre lacked the high power to weight ratio that defined the Orc. As a result, the T-105 was reclassified as an exploitation tank, and given the new mission of exploiting the gaps created by more powerful vehicles. In this role, the Orc has been tasked with pushing through weakened or shattered areas of the enemy’s lines, and wreak havoc with their rear areas, while heavier vehicles engage and destroy enemy armor.

This new mission purpose was found to serve the Orc well in its first deployment as a medium tank during the 3rd Hegemonic War. Fighting alongside units from the Kingdom of Peace, as well as alongside other Lubyakan armored vehicles, the T-105 played a key role in the attack that helped slow down advancing Hegemonic forces enough to allow Peacian defenders to regroup and fall back successfully, turning a potentially disastrous defeat along the border into a manageable retreat.

Armarment
The T-105’s main gun is relatively underpowered--at least in comparison to modern top of the line battle tanks, a key contributing factor in the decisions to re-designate the the tank as a medium tank, rather than a main battle tank. However, against its intended targets of lightly armored rear area vehicles--or against older main battle tanks--the Orc’s weaponry is still effective. Even against modern battle tanks, the TA15 is capable of inflicting serious damage to side and rear armor.

The TA15 125 mm smooth bore is a conventional tank gun equipped with an autoloader, which uses a standard solid propellant charge, as opposed to more exotic ECT and liquid propellants. While this render the TA15 rather underpowered when facing the most modern of tanks, the gun is more than sufficient to penetrate the frontal armor of tanks at the same generation of the T-105, and easily capable of destroying light or unarmored vehicles, and the conventional system makes the tank’s weapon systems relatively easy to maintain, even for unskilled personnel. In addition, to help counteract the lack of power inherent in the choice of the TA15 as a main weapon, the TA15 is capable of firing the AT-11 anti-tank guided missile. The AT-11 is capable of causing as much damage as an impact from a much heavier shell would, enabling the T-105 to engage modern Main Battle Tanks relatively successfully, if the situation calls for it.

Image
The AT-11 Tube Launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile

However, the T-105’s main mission remains the exploitation of gaps in the enemy lines, and when engaging its primary targets of lightly armored vehicles, the use of the main gun is not always justified. As such, the T-105 has been equipped with a co-axial AAW-19 35 mm autocannon. The AAW-19 was originally designed for low-level defense against armored attack helicopters and aircraft, and it was found that the weapon was more than suitable for being used to engage and destroy enemy IFVs, APCs, and other light and unarmored vehicles.

Rounding off the T-105’s armament is an ISAW-11 heavy machine gun mounted on the commander’s cupola. Controlled remotely from within the armored crew compartment, the ISAW-11 is used to discourage enemy infantry from closing with the tank, as well as being used to engage low flying helicopters, to potentially dissuade them from engaging the tank.

Defenses
The main defensive system of any tank is its armor, and the T-105 is no different. It is equipped with Anyova-I armor, a composite armor system that consists of four separate layers in order to provide maximum defensive capability.. The first layer of the armor is a plate of Rota Armor, designed to stop the impact of light weapons, such as auto-cannons, as well as protecting the more vulnerable second layer from small arms fire, which consists of ceramic tiles designed to defeat the molten jet projected by HEAT shells, as well as potentially cracking kinetic energy perpetrators that pass through the first layer of Rota Armor.

The third layer of Anyova-I armor is the thickest, being another plate of Rota Armor. This layer is the most conventional in purpose to the other layers, as it is mean to halt impactors and molten jets that have penetrated the first and second layers through sheer mass rather than anything else. The final layer of Anyova-I armor is actually mounted inside the tank itself, and is a spall liner made of YellowApplan produced spider silk, designed to protect the crew and internal equipment from spalling that may be caused by HESH shells, or kinetic impactors that fail to penetrate the outer layers of armor.

Outside of the Anyova-1 armor system, the T-105 is equipped to mount Marble ERA, or any other ERA system available, significantly increasing the tanks resistance to the first rounds of incoming fire. Of course, the explosions or magical releases are harmful to nearby infantry, a factor which is often considered during the deployment of Lubyakan tanks.

In addition to the passive armor, the T-105 mounts the Turvokan-Farmer Aerospace TFA-17 Blinder active defense system. The Blinder is a softkill system, designed to detect in bound laser guided anti-tank guided missiles, and jam their seekers, thus preventing them from hitting the tank proper.

Finally, the T-105 is outfitted with a standard smoke grenade launcher loaded with white phosphorous grenades. These grenades are designed to help conceal the tank from both infrared and visual detection in the opening stages of an engagement, to help protect the tank from engagement by either enemy heat seeking weapons, or being successfully targeted visually. Perhaps slightly distastefully, tank commanders have been known to fire off their WP grenades when under attack by enemy infantry in an attempt to dissuade the infantry from closing with the vehicle. Although arguably a chemical weapon, the tactic has proven rather effective when under attack by enemy infantry, who are attempting to destroy the tank in a close quarters engagement.

Engine
The engine of the T-105 is perhaps its great upgrade from its T-100 predecessor. The main change is the replacement of the EHE 6T-5 engine with the more powerful EHE 6T-7 engine. The installation of the even more powerful EHE 6G-3 gas-turbine engine, was considered during the design phase, but the high fuel consumption rate of the 6G-3 ruled out its installation. The additional range granted by the use of the 6T-7 was another reason that contributed to the decision to reclassify the T-105 from a main battle tank to a medium tank even as its gun and armor systems became obsolete.

In addition to the main 6T-7 engine, the T-105 is outfitted with an axillary power unit built directly into the engine. The APU is installed to activate the engine, but at idle, but the APU generates enough power to run the tanks fire control system, turret rotation, communication equipment, and crew amenities like air conditioning without activating the main engine. This feature was implemented as an attempt to reduce the signature of the T-105 when the tank is in a defensive position, by lessening its heat signature.

Electronic Systems and Crew Amenities
The T-105s electronics systems have been continually upgraded, and the current production models retain electronic systems equivalent to the rest of the military, thanks to continual upgrades. The fire control system is the standard system of other Erotan Heavy Engineering vehicles, using multiple visual and electronic sensors on the tank to provide an integrated view for the gunner. The fire control computer is capable of identifying and tracking up to four main battle tank sized targets at any time, and provides a continual fire solution to the gunner at all points in time. In case of damage to external sensors, a manual visual only gunsight with integrated night vision is also included, but this is used only in cases of emergency.

The T-105’s communication and battle management systems were among the first vehicle to be designed from the ground up to be integrated with the Lubyakan Army’s HIVE Battle Command System. As such, the communications computer is capable of both sending and receiving large amounts of information, and command tanks only need a change in software in order to be capable of coordinating formations up to the platoon size. The computer can be upgraded to allow the T-105 to coordinate larger formations, but such command responsibilities often require a separate communications vehicle in order to properly coordinate such large formations.

As crews often fight much more effectively when properly cared for, crew comfort was a key feature in Lubyakan tank design. Although cramped, the tank’s design contains air conditioning and heating, to climate control the interior of the tank, and the vehicle contains a secondary computer that is designed to allow the crew to utilize it as they would a personal computer. Of course, space and processing power on the computer for this purpose is limited, but it has proven effective in maintaining crew morale. The tank also includes a hookup compatible with civilian MP3 and CD music players, allowing the tank to play such files over both its internal and external speaker systems.

Finally, the T-105 maintains an integrated refrigeration unit, allowing the crew to keep small amounts of chilled beverages in the tank. This has proven most popular with crews, and has played a key role in the high morale of T-105 crews, and has been integrated and expanded on with other EHE tank designs.

Contract
The T-105’s price is set at NS$ 4,900,000, with domestic production rights set at NS$ 70,000,000,000.

The purchase of more than 1,000 T-105’s grants users domestic production rights for the AT-11 ATGM, as well as ammunition and spare parts for the tank. Replacements for the tanks Anyova-I armor and Marble Explosive Reactive Armor, however, must be ordered from EHE or another authorized supplier, as the DPR for this equipment remain unavailable.

[OOC: I gotta say, this storefront has got to be one of the better fantasy theme storefront, at least since 2010. You've been one of the few which has successfully pull this off, and I am very impressed, Lubyak. Admittedly however, I haven't checked into details the content of your main battle tank writing, notwithstanding that fact however, is still the very essence of the fact that this storefront is awesome.

Would you cater to Modern-Technology normal nation (which acknowledge the existence of ponies) as well or not?]

A single T-105 has been dispatched to Strykla, however given the security issues caused by Stryklan membership in the anti-Pony Alliance, the tank has been stripped of both Rota Armor and Marble ERA.

Recognizing the decrease in performance, we have reduced the price by NS$ 1 million.

Your account has been debited by NS$ 5,900,000.

Summary
The T-110 is the weapon of choice for the Armored units within the Lubyankan Army. Equipped with the state of the art TA17 smoothbore cannon and the most advanced passive and active defense systems available, the Ogre is a tank that can stand up to the most advanced war machines of the day. While slower than its T-105 predecessor, and significantly more expensive, the Ogre is heavily armed and armored, and can face up against the worst that its enemies can throw at it.

History and Combat Record
Although the T-105 Orc had its attributes, its underpowered gun, and increasingly ineffective armor had rendered it unsuitable for front line use as a main battle tank. Although it’s unusually high power to weight ratio allowed the venerable Orc to continue to serve on as a medium tank, the Lubyakan Army needed a new main battle tank if it wanted to remain competitive in the world, and they turned to Erotan Heavy Engineering to provide the solution.

The Army’s primary desire was two fold: 1) they wished for a tank equipped with a main gun that could reliably penetrate the armor/shielding of the modern main battle tanks fielded by nations like Hippostania or the Greater Pony Herd, and 2) the tanks armor had to be able to stand up to firepower from the same vehicles. Development work on the Ogre began in the late 1980s, with the final product reaching full production capacity in 1995. EHE designers produced many proposed designs, and collaborated with other major Lubyakan companies in an attempt to produce a vehicle that could satiate the army’s needs. Eventually, the current design for the T-110 ‘Ogre’ was settled upon.

Unlike the T-105 Orc, which was a mere upgrade from the T-100 Griffon that preceded it, the Ogre was a radically new design. The small hull of the Griffon--which dated to the 1960s--was abandoned, and a new, much larger hull design was utilized instead. The main reason behind this was the fact that the hull of the Griffon was simply too small to mount the turret EHE had envisioned would be necessary to mount the new 140 mm gun they had deemed necessary to remain competitive in the field. The resulting larger size of hull allowed EHE to redesign the turret to an even larger size, allowing them to mount additional equipment in the turret. Furthermore, the T-105 ‘Orc’ had still relied upon the old Anyova-I armor package, which had originally been derived in the late 1970s. Although upgraded, it was recognized that the Ogre could not use such an outdated system and fulfill the second part of the Army’s requirements. As such, research and development devised the Anyova-II armor system, which, when combined with the newly perfected Marble ERA, along with improved active defense systems was believed to allow the Ogre to fulfill the Army’s requirements for protection.

It was feared that the larger heavier tank would overtax the engine, and make the vehicle unacceptably slow. However, the solution was found in the new EHE 6G-4 gas turbine engine. Although it suffered from the same high rate of fuel consumption that had made EHE engineers declare its mounting in the T-105 infeasible, the larger size of the T-110s hull enabled them to install larger fuel tanks, and developments in efficiency of the gas turbine engine enabled the vehicle to maintain a respectable combat range, despite the nature of its propulsion system.

The T-110 Ogre was first issued to Lubyakan Army armored units in 2002, and production had been stepped up considerably since then, with all units marked to be equipped with the tank fully equipped by late 2009. At that time, Erotan Heavy Engineering was issued an export license for the vehicle, and T-110 Ogres were authorized for export to allied nations of the Dominion.

Image
A T-110U

The T-110 was rarely exported, unlike the T-105. Although the lessons that the Ilenan Solar Empire learned on the northern fields were analyzed, and applied to the design process, the T-110 first saw action in the 3rd Hegemonic War, where Ogres formed the mainstay of Lubyakan armored units in their counter attack on the Hegemonic forces there. As a proof of concept, the battle was successful, and Ogres made a good showing of themselves in running tank battles with Hegemonic T-2 tanks in the open fields to the east of Peacian lines. The upgrades to the gun system and armor were proven most effective, and although some issues with the vehicles APU’s when idling were identified, they were swiftly corrected in upgrades. Lubyakan crews, in particular, fond themselves fond of the Ogre’s amenities, which proved critical to morale during the second, more defensive, portion of the War.

Armarment
Part of the development process that helped shape the the T-110 into the tank it is now was the decision of EHE that a larger, 140 mm gun would be necessary to help meet the demands for a tank that could successfully engage the armor of other, more recent main battle tanks. In addition, it was determined that conventional solid propellants would not be sufficient to produce a gun with sufficient velocity to defeat enemy armor, even with the redesign to accommodate a 140 mm main gun. Multiple options were explored including: railguns, coilguns, as well as regenerative and bulk loaded liquid propellant guns, and electro-thermo chemical guns. It was initially hoped that the same magic-technology fusion that resulted in Marble Explosive Reactive Armor would enable the creation of a magic battery that could be used to power a rail or coilgun, but it was determined that even magic-technology fusions could produce a battery storage efficient enough to power such a weapon. Although liquid propellants provided some hope, it was determined that bulk loaded liquid propellants were too unreliable, and regenerative guns were likewise too vulnerable to damage to serve in a main battle tank (although their design was marked for consideration as a potential technology for a self-propelled howitzer gun.

In the end, the ETC design was selected as the most feasible weapon for the new gun. Painstaking effort was devoted to the design in an attempt to overcome issues with the plasma fuse system the gun design called for, but in the end the combination of the unique abilities of unicorns, along with extensive research in the field by EHE R&D division resulted in a gun of quality nearly unsurpassed in other regionally produced vehicles. In field tests, the newly designated TA17 140 mm 47 caliber smoothbore gun demonstrated the ability to penetrate armor equivalent to most modern main battle tanks with relative ease. Although flaws in the design of the TA17’s APFSDS (known colloquially as an ‘alicorn’ round) resulted in the kinetic penetrator being vulnerable to the impact of heavy ERA were discovered, the flaws were quickly corrected, and later tests seemed to confirm that any issues with alicorn rounds being defeated by heavy ERA had been corrected. In addition, an ISAW-11 Heavy Machine Gun was mounted co-axially to the main gun, in order to serve as a back up range finder in the even that the T-110's ample electronic fire control systems are somehow disabled.

The secondary armament of the T-110 was one of the more interesting design choices by EHE engineers, as the side mounted AGW-19 30 mm autocannons seemed to add needless mechanical complexity, while compromising the design of the vehicle for minimal effectiveness against secondary targets. However, the design choice was made as a result of analysis of the use of the co-axial 35 mm autocannon in the T-105. In multiple after action reports, crews reported their feeling that a 35 mm round was 'overkill' against the thin skinned IFVs, APCs and other vehicles that it was meant to engage, as well as lamenting the fact that the co-axial mount simply lacked the elevation capability to engage targets at higher elevations.

The decision to include the 30 mm guns was one of the more controversial ones in the T-110 project. Some engineers claimed that it was better to build a mechanically simpler tank, and simply encourage the sale of the new TS-105 ‘Troll’ H-IFV to provide the necessary firepower. However, it was determined that the ability to integrate the weapon system into one vehicle would cut costs over buying multiple vehicles, and as the T-110 was meant to be much more heavily armored than the T-105 based TS-105, thus making the guns themselves much more survivable. The decision to integrate some form of anti-air capability into the main battle tank platform was a major factor in the decision to include the guns, as was the realization that the twin 30 mm guns would enable the T-110 to rapidly engage and eliminate thin skinned vehicles and infantry without the need to utilize the large and expensive 140 mm ETC shells.

With size increase of the turret already planned, it was simple enough to increase the turret’s size even more to accompany the necessary ammunition storage space for the twin 30 mm autocannons. The twin 30 mm guns were mounted in such a way that they could freely rotate from an elevation of -5⁰ to +60⁰, thus allowing a weapon that could rotate quickly from low level firing engaging street level infantry or light vehicles, to high level firing engaging infantry at high elevations—or even low flying attack helicopters. Although the fact that the guns must rotate with such a large and heavy turret limits their effectiveness against such nimble attack craft, the units of Ogres are often able to utilize their guns to cover each other, creating a reasonably effective simulation of the cover a pair of TS-105 H-IFVs might provide.

The final piece of the puzzle in terms of the Ogre’s armament is a single ISAW-11 heavy machine gun mounted in a remote weapon station. Almost identical to the weapon mounted upon the Orc that preceded it, the heavy machine gun exists to provide the commander both a better view of the battlefield than periscopes alone might provide, as well as serving as a defensive mechanism against hostile infantry, who may seek to engage the large Ogre at close range, in an attempt to take advantage of the slow rotation speed of its heavy turret, and length of its main gun.

Defenses

While EHE performed well with the design of the Ogre’s new weaponry, the issue of armor had become a major issue to be considered. The Anyova-I armor that had served as the primary passive defense of the T-105, and the T-100 before it was successful in its time, but the modern guns of some tanks that the T-110 was meant to face on equal terms greatly outweighed the defensive potential of even multiple layers of Anyova-I armor--especially when accounting for the extra bulk that mounting multiple layers of armor would entail. A new solution was needed for the T-110 to serve properly as a main battle tank.

Instead, Anyova-II armor was developed as a new form of passive defense for Lubyakan main battle tanks, with the T-110 being the first vehicle it would be fitted to. Anyova-II armor retained the basic structure of the Anyova-I armor system that preceded it, but added several additional methods of protection. In addition to increasing the thickness of the two layers of Rota Armor, and the ceramic layer sandwiched between the two, additional layers of armor--and changes in the existing layers of armor--were added in order to increase the efficiency of the armor.

The first change was an additional layer between the first Rota armor plate, and the ceramic second layer. This new layer was filled with aerogel, serving as spaced armor for all portions of the vehicles that have the Anyova-II armor attached. The spacing was meant to provide an additional layer of protection against HEAT weapons, insulating the interior of the tank against flame or heat based weapons, as well as allowing the layers beneath to be placed in such a way as to take hits at much shallower angles than the sloped hull exterior would imply, thus limiting the number of ceramic plates even a glancing hit which penetrated the first layer of the Anyova-II armor would damage while at the same time allowing the outer hull of the tank to be curved enough to potentially deflect hits. The layout of the ceramic layer was also changed. Instead of being composed of single large plates of ceramic material, which tests found were quickly pulverized by multiple impacts, the new ceramic layer was composed of many--much smaller--tiles, arranged in such a way as to further prevent a shell impact from shattering too many such panels in one hit, thus crippling the tank’s protective systems. On top of the redesigned ceramic plates, a new formula for the ceramic plates themselves was introduced in the T-110, providing a much harder plate than the ones found in the T-105. The increased hardness of the tiles helps to increase the resistance they provide to more conventional kinetic penetrators. In addition to the spaced armor layer and improved ceramic, Anyova-II armor incorporates a depleted uranium mesh on top of the ceramic layer in order to provide a backing for the ceramic, as well as providing a potential back up for the tank’s protection after the ceramic layer has been damaged by combat operations. Unlike Anyova-I, in addition to the second Rota backing plate behind the ceramic layer, Anyova-II armor incorporates an aluminum layer, to provide a final stopping layer for any kinetic energy rounds that may have penetrated the rest of the tank's armor. The final layer is mounted within the tank itself, and consists of a spall liner made of YellowApplan produced spider silk to stop any fragments from impacts to the tanks outer hull from injuring the crew inside.

In addition to its armor, the T-110 is equipped with a TFA-17 Blinder Mk II laser jamming system. An improved version of the TFA-15 Blinder Mk I, the Mk II is utilized to interrupt the guidance system of laser and infrared guided ATGMs, thus serving as a softkill active defense system. However, unlike the T-105, the T-110 also includes the Colossus Active Defense System. While the Blinder Mk II is a soft kill system, using jammers and other such equipment to defeat an ATGMs guidance system without destroying the missile itself, the Colossus ADS uses a more direct approach, using a doppler radar system in conjunction with a high speed computer to direct a series of small rockets arrayed around the base of the turret at incoming anti-tank missiles and/or shells, hopefully destroying them before they impact the T-110’s armor.

Image
Graphic Explanation of the Colossus ADS in Action
An inbound hostile ATGM (4) is detected by the doppler radar assembly (2) at approximately 50 meters (5). The radar instructs the rocket launcher assembly (1) to fire a projectile to intercept and destroy the inbound ATGM. (3)
]

In tests, the system has been shown to be reasonably effective, destroying: ATGMs launched by both ground troops and aircraft (including attack helicopters), small tube rockets as fired by infantry, and in some cases even successfully intercepted high speed tank rounds. The installation of the Colossus System did place a strain on the vehicles APU power when the engine was switched to idle, and thus necessitated the installation of a separate APU dedicated solely to powering the Colossus. Although the system increased the weight of the vehicle by nearly a ton, the increased survivability was judge to be more than worth the weight.

Finally, the T-110 is equipped with the same white phosphorous grenade launcher that was installed about the T-105. Like the T-105, these grenade launchers are used to create smoke screens that mask the tank’s visibility both to visible light, and to infrared sensors. They are also used in last ditch scenarios to keep hostile infantry away from the tank.

Engine

The extra weight of all the systems that had been installed on the T-110 meant that the use of the diesel engine that had powered the T-105 would have left the tank relatively underpowered, and incapable of the performance expected of a main battle tank. While the loss of range was regrettable, it was finally determined that the only way the tank could achieve a level of performance that approached that of previous main battle tanks was to move for the installation of a gas turbine engine.

Eventually, the 6G-4 was selected as the engine for the job, as--although it retained the high fuel consumption inherent to its class--the engine was efficient enough to grant the T-110 a range of nearly 500 kilometers with external tanks, without requiring a major redesign of hull interior space to allow for increased fuel capacity. In addition, the 6G-4 cam equipped with two integral APUs, which were able to completely power all of the tanks crew amenities and sensors with the main engines switched off. This arrangement guaranteed that the tank would be capable of maintaining a defensive position, while still maintaining the fuel supplies necessary to switch into an attack operation without having to be refueled by vulnerable resupply vehicles.

Electronics and Crew Amenities

During the design process of the T-110, experience from the actions of T-105s and previous generations convinced EHE engineers that increased guns and armor could only go so far if the electronic systems guiding such weapons and vehicles were of sub-par quality. As it was, EHE sub-contracted engineering of the computer systems on the T-110 to Turvokan-Farmer Aerospace (TFA), recognizing the superiority of TFA’s experience in the computer field. Cooperation with TFA allowed EHE to install computer systems of the highest quality into the tank.

While the specifics may have improved, the basic concept of the T-110’s computer systems remain the same. Like the T-105 before it, the fire control system of the T-110 track potential targets as they are detected by the vehicle’s sensors, and then provides the vehicle’s gunner with potential firing solutions as they are requested. The computer systems of the T-110 are improved over the T-105, and are capable of tracking at least 8 individual main battle tank sized targets at any one time.

However, perhaps the biggest change in the T-110s’ computer systems would be the inter-tank communication systems. Using high-speed encrypted data links, the T-110’s computer systems are able to share information with any vehicle--or unit for that matter--tied into the HIVE Battle Command System (HIVE-BCS). This allows even small units to coordinate their fire, and may even allow a tank to fire upon a target that it can not see, but was spotted by infantry on the ground, a scout pegasus, or other such systems. T-110’s computer systems can also be granted a software upgrade in order to turn them into ‘command tanks’, and when paired with an appropriate hardware upgrade, a single command T-110 can seamlessly coordinate battalion sized forces tied into the HIVE-BCS. T-110s can serve as command vehicles for larger formations, but they are often paired with a modified BTR-110 which holds the communication equipment necessary to handle the bandwidth required to properly coordinate such large forces.

In addition, EHE sought to make the life for the tank’s crew as comfortable as possible. Like the T-105, the T-110 incorporates air conditioning and heating in order to provide a climate controlled environment for the crew regardless of location. In addition, the T-110 incorporates a fully isolated computer system that the crew can use for their own personal use--and can connect to the internet via any civilian wireless connection, thus allowing troops to remain in contact with home as much as possible. The design also incorporates internal and external speakers, which can be fed music via a standard civilian MP3 or CD player connection. The design also incorporates a larger refrigeration chamber, allowing the crew to hold onto supplies of cold beverages without leaving the vehicle, along with a boiling vessel to allow for preparation of MREs within the hull. All in all, these systems are designed to help maintain crew morale, no matter the situation.

NOTE: The flamethrowers mounted upon these vehicles appear to be crew modifications, and are not a part of the T-110 design.

Contract

A single unit of the T-110 Main Battle Tank is available for the price of NS$ 5,500,000 per unit. The purchase of more than 1,000 T-110s authorizes the user to domestic production rights of the vehicle’s ammunition and spare parts, although Anyova-II armor and Marble ERA must be purchased directly from EHE or any other authorized supplier, as DPR for such equipment remain unavailable.

Domestic Production Rights for the T-110 are available for NS$ 95,000,000,000. DPR grants production to the T-110, and a steep discount on the purchase of Anyova-II and Marble ERA.

Your order for DPR on the T-105 'Orc' Medium Tank has been accepted. Schematics are being sent to you via courier, and if you require any technical support for the establishment of the proper supply lines for the T-105, we of EHE will be more than happy to assist you.

We do remind the government of Salvarity that the DPR of the T-105 do not include Rota Armor or Marble ERA. These components must be purchased seperately directly from EHE or another licesnsed dealer for reasons of Lubyakan National Security.

Friendship is Magic

OFFICIAL MESSAGE

To: Erotan Heavy Engineering
From: Rolling Dough, the Minister of Finance of the G.P.H.

Subject: Business

Friends, hello.

Following a recent change in the policies regarding the Dominion of the Lubyak and by extension, Lubyakan businesses, the G.P.H. government and various Herd-based businesses have taken interest in your company, and consequently we would like to put forward a deal of sorts.

The G.P.H. would like to invite the Erotan Heavy Engineering to expand into the lands of the Herd. The G.P.H. possesses an auspicious business climate, quite a number of companies already willing to invest in your entity, and extensive magic expertise and unicorn workforce avaliable, which should also be of interest to your company.

Hereby, we invite the Erotan Heavy Engineering to set up a manufacturing facility in the city of Flankfurt-am-Mane and a manufacturing facility in the city of Moosecow, with possibilities to expand ever more in the future. We will also be willing to work together in areas of arcane and technological research.

I hope to hear your thoughts and decisions on this offer soon, and to discuss it further should you wish so.

Signed,

Rolling Dough,

This nation represents the voices in my head.
