So much marginalization packed into such a short amount of space...

Anything before that and it's mostly what I would define as "infatuation". People are too young to understand true love, in the context of romance.
Horse shit. I doubt you could even define love, let alone decide what age you're allowed to have it. Anyway, I would say most people under 30 and a lot of people older than that are obviously going to have a hard time discerning love from infatuation, because it takes experience with both to really understand what they are.

Estrellita Catala Rivera. Wow, never really thought I would remember that after 40 years.

Speaking from my personal experience and the experiences of close friends and family members alone. Of course, there are many unique aspects and elements which one need consider, but can you truly imagine a mere child comprehending in full what it truly means to love? Note that I am referring to love only in a romantic context.

Don't project. Furthermore, what about a 17 year old or an 18 year old is automatically more mature in any given sense than a 16 year old? Baruch Spinoza was in college studying law at 15, and had a knowledge of Greek, Latin and mathematics at the same age. Paris Hilton is 30 and doesn't have a clue about anything. I've met a 14 year old who can get into bars and a 17 year old who looks like he's 14. There are 16 year olds who have survived life-threatening illnesses and 16 year olds who haven't gone through anything worse than their girlfriends breaking up with them. All the evidence is stacked against you.
