Or, you know, something to do with the actual responses of the actual people you're criticising.
Ugh. The fake victim shtick gets old, no matter who does it.

If we were all sincerely civil and respectfully disagreed with the ideas of the opposition- and I emphasize respectfully- we wouldn't be in this predicament every time a heated issue comes up. You are not Satan, nor am I. There is no need for a violent revolution if we can talk rationally and politely about our opinions on how to improve our beautiful-horrible world. Furthermore, I will make the same comment that I did when Sarah Palin was decried for causing the Tuscon Incident- the majority of the individuals involved in these organizations are not crazy nor do the main-stream organizers want to systematically murder the opposition. If you assert anything else, it is highly partisan and nearly tantamount to conspiracy bullshit.

Conservatives run the country, but at least they can still feel oppressed for coming to an online forum where they aren't the majority.

Now now, what sort of American are ya?
What about all that about a little revolution being good now and again and needing to water that tree with the blood of tyrants and all?
Some of the founding fathers stuff was rubbish, but that stuff sounds good to me. xP

As am I.
They haven't yet acted in good faith since the election, so why should I now assume that they are on the level when they themselves have the most to gain from this supposed threat?

Yeah, and if wishes were horses then beggers would ride.
The "opposition" to me argues openly that my human rights should be violated if I dare to choose to have consensual sex. They argue that I am not a real citizen because I do not share their god-belief. They argue that I am somehow inauthentic because I am educated and intellectual. They smear my values as worthless. My entire life, I have listened to them rant about how it is exactly people like me who are "destroying the country" and are "traitors" and are filth and vermin and whatever other eliminationist language strikes their fancy.
You want to tell them to shut up? Go for it. I've been politely asking them to stop treating me like a subhuman for as long as I can remember. I'm tired of it. I'm not going to do unto them as they have done unto me, I'm just going to stop wasting my time telling people on "my" side to be polite...because I simply don't believe in it any more. Call me a quitter (cause I am), but I just don't buy the lie any more. Being nice has gotten me precisely dick, politically speaking, so why waste the time and energy? I can't tell other people that behaving in a civil manner is best right now, because IT DOESN'T WORK. I've watched it not work for over a decade. I don't believe in it.
Now, if you want to do something to make me believe in it again, then please do. I agree that your happy funtime rainbow joyland vision of civil politics would be super. So stop expecting people like me, the people whose rights are always the first to be thrown under the bus, to be the ones who do all the thankless work of trying to bring your vision into reality. Talk to the people who abuse and marginalize us while we're just trying to live our fucking lives and be left alone for pity's sake.

The Republicans are winning because they know how politics is played: dirty and against the rules.
We need to do what the Koch brothers did, except for the good guys. We need to get organized and look to the long game.
Of course, it's difficult when the bad guys control most of the money and the media and can spew racist lies to indoctrinate people. But we need to stop pretending that if we play by the rules and are right, right will win, or that truth will prevail just because it will. We have to make it happen.
As for the OP, this is just bullshit. There were no 'calls for civility' when Congressional Democrats were getting death threats. Come off your high horse, there is no double standard. Climb down off that cross, use the wood to build a bridge and get the fuck over it. We can all see through your fake outrage. Are you being paid by the Koch brothers to post this shit?
As for the event in question, I think a bigger problem is that the media rarely if ever mentioned that the unions had already agreed to make concessions to close the budget shortfall, or that Walker was only attacking the unions that vote democratic, while rewarding the ones that vote republican, and admitted that this was just an ploy to de-fund unions, or that Wisconsin had a surplus 1 year ago, which Walker gave away to his top 4 campaign contributors in a sneaky last-minute session, but instead parroted Walker's insane lie that this was necessary to close the shortfall.
I understand that some people are ruthless assholes who will fuck over billions of people for their own gains, but what I don't get is all the half-brights out there who somehow believe the obvious bullshit! And somehow, this is the majority of Americans!
Boggles the mind. The vicious fucking curs.

There's gotta be some better way of linking that, but I'm an idiot. : P
