Conservatives run the country, but at least they can still feel oppressed for coming to an online forum where they aren't the majority.

It's an all or nothing mentality. Either they control everything or they're being oppressed. Just like "The Liberal Media".
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

That the death threats (which could well be fabricated by the Republicans, not too different from Walker thinking about Mubaraking the protestors) are a sign that the Democrats, liberals and union workers have conceded.

In other words, more partisan gloating and sneering from Yu-Gi-Owe.

Exactly.

The Republicans are winning because they know how politics is played: dirty and against the rules.

We need to do what the Koch brothers did, except for the good guys. We need to get organized and look to the long game.

Of course, it's difficult when the bad guys control most of the money and the media and can spew racist lies to indoctrinate people. But we need to stop pretending that if we play by the rules and are right, right will win, or that truth will prevail just because it will. We have to make it happen.

As for the OP, this is just bullshit. There were no 'calls for civility' when Congressional Democrats were getting death threats. Come off your high horse, there is no double standard. Climb down off that cross, use the wood to build a bridge and get the fuck over it. We can all see through your fake outrage. Are you being paid by the Koch brothers to post this shit?

As for the event in question, I think a bigger problem is that the media rarely if ever mentioned that the unions had already agreed to make concessions to close the budget shortfall, or that Walker was only attacking the unions that vote democratic, while rewarding the ones that vote republican, and admitted that this was just an ploy to de-fund unions, or that Wisconsin had a surplus 1 year ago, which Walker gave away to his top 4 campaign contributors in a sneaky last-minute session, but instead parroted Walker's insane lie that this was necessary to close the shortfall.

I understand that some people are ruthless assholes who will fuck over billions of people for their own gains, but what I don't get is all the half-brights out there who somehow believe the obvious bullshit! And somehow, this is the majority of Americans!

Here's the difference

No democrat has publicly used violent or inflammatory language against Walker. For the Repubs, such attacks are par for the course.

The 'call for civility' was about the rhetoric coming from PUBLIC FIGURES. You are complaining about the actions of PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS. People are always sending Democratic and Republican politicians death threats. It's a different matter entirely.

Obvious troll is obvious.

(and it's funny you said "crosshairs" since, preceeding Giffords' shooting, Palin's website had various Congressional Democrats in crosshairs, including Giffords'. Giffords' was uncomfortible with this, and asked Palin to take it down. Palin refused.

When a prominent Democrat puts out a picture of Walker in crosshairs, you let me know)

And beyond all that, the whole "call for civility" was about the wild, alarmist, and violence-inspiring lies of the GOP and Fox "News," but we can't say that because the media is controlled by the right-wing, so instead we get a "call for civility," which was just a pr stunt for all politicians who get to come together ans say they are against things that everyone hates like murder and are for things that everyone like, like civility.

You want to tell them to shut up? Go for it. I've been politely asking them to stop treating me like a subhuman for as long as I can remember. I'm tired of it. I'm not going to do unto them as they have done unto me, I'm just going to stop wasting my time telling people on "my" side to be polite...because I simply don't believe in it any more. Call me a quitter (cause I am), but I just don't buy the lie any more. Being nice has gotten me precisely dick, politically speaking, so why waste the time and energy? I can't tell other people that behaving in a civil manner is best right now, because IT DOESN'T WORK. I've watched it not work for over a decade. I don't believe in it.

Now, if you want to do something to make me believe in it again, then please do. I agree that your happy funtime rainbow joyland vision of civil politics would be super. So stop expecting people like me, the people whose rights are always the first to be thrown under the bus, to be the ones who do all the thankless work of trying to bring your vision into reality. Talk to the people who abuse and marginalize us while we're just trying to live our fucking lives and be left alone for pity's sake.

Sigged.

There's gotta be some better way of linking that, but I'm an idiot. : P

Seconded. That was epic, and oh so true.
