Images require an "approved image host"

Is imgbox no longer an approved host? I'm getting errors about my imgbox images when I try to post them.

It will help the technical staff if you provide at least one example of an image URL that doesn't work for you.

Images hosted in Catbox are failing to work here despite me pasting the correct link (image link rather than album link).

The error is: "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct."

Example of link that isn't working: (the dimensions are in fact determined, in this case 600x400)

Additional info: when I quote an older post with a Catbox image that is correctly displayed, and then try to preview or submit, the same error happens. For example, this post from July 2026 (note that the URL format is exactly the same). Therefore it seems something broke since then.

I've been having this issue since early August, and I was about to report it.

I'm encountering the same issue described by Giovanniland, on both IMGBB and Postimages.

In my case, the issue usually happens after I initially make a post.

Case in point, I created an OP with the following image on it

It worked, I posted it, and it continued to work for a few days. Then yesterday, as I was editing that post, I clicked on submit, and it kept loading for several minutes, before eventually giving me an "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct."

Since I had encountered the issue before, and I didn't have time to troubleshoot, I simply uploaded the image in question again, like this

And it worked.

And then today, I went back to editing that post, and the issue reappeared, which means that I'll likely have to upload it again.

I am positive that the issue is caused by this image, because if I stop the page from loading, and remove it, everything works. But it's clearly something bigger with the way in which NS deals with these codes because I've encountered this issue previously on images both from IMGBB and Postimages.

The Flickr links are suddenly not working anymore (error type "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct."), or is there something else happening?

The links used to go through fine but now it doesn't. If I do a simple copy-paste of my previous post without any altering, the new posts now aren't accepted.

Also conferming that flicker links dont seem to work anymore.

Tryed to use this to upload a picture from flicker on the wbc thread and it came back with a "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct." Error.

The really strange thing is, that this was only a problem when i edited an unrelated part of the post.

The image worked fine before makeing an unrelated edit to unrelated text away from the image. When publishing my edit, the image that worked fine up till now suddenly didnt work and i got hit with that error.

Useing image bb works fine and i settled on that to just bipass the issue, but this is still a weird bug.

ImgBB has its own issues - I regularly have to ctrl+shift+R pages to deal with its "service unavailable" placeholders.

Same with Flickr sometimes. It's the images just being "Image" without showing the pictures. Ctrl + F5 did the trick for me, something about the bad cache or... something? Even if I already cleared the internet history.

Either way, yeah something to note of, oof.

The problem identified by Valentine Z is occuring with all images hosted on nationstates.net. I am getting the "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image" error.

This is still happening, independently of the problems that other people have been facing with embedding images hosted off-site.
