Chromatik Bid to Host the 62th WBC

The Chromatika Sports Commission is bidding to host the 62nd WBC.

Format:

• 36 nations - 6 groups of 6, double round-robin series play, Top 2 per group and 4 best 3rd placed finishers to Round of 16
• 40 nations - 8 groups of 5, double round-robin series play, Top 3 per group to Round of 24
• 48 nations - 8 groups of 6, double round-robin series play, Top 3 per group to Round of 24
• 50 nations - 10 groups of 5, double round-robin series play, Top 2 per group and 4 best 3rd placed finishers to Round of 24
• 54 nations - 9 groups of 6, double round-robin series play, Top 2 per group and 6 best 3rd placed finishers to Round of 24
• 60 nations - 10 groups of 6, double round-robin series play, Top 2 per group and 4 best 3rd placed finishers to Round of 24

The playoffs will be held in Chromatika consisting of best-of-three series for the Round of 24 (if needed), best-of-five series for the Round of 16 through the Semifinals, and a best-of-seven series for the final, as always. Playoff series will be scored two games at a time, except the final game if necessary. The Championship series will be scored one game at a time. The bracket will be seeded, with no reseeding in between rounds. Teams that played against each other in the group stage will only be able to play against each other starting with the second knock-out round. Cutoff will be almost every day, with a few rest days in between.

In the Round of 24, the higher seed is the designated home team for Game 1 and (if necessary) 3. In five-game series, the higher seed is the designated home team for Games 1, 2, and (if necessary) 5. The Championship Series uses a 2-3-2 format with an IC off day between changes of designated home team (exactly as per the RL World Series, including in 2020 when "designated home team" didn't change the geography).

The tiebreakers for both group stage advancement and playoff seeding will be, in this order: Group Stage placement (only for Playoff seeding), wins, H2H results, H2H run differential, overall run differential, RP Bonus (IC coin flip), OOC coin flip. If a tie between multiple teams must be broken and one team wins the tiebreaker at any stage, while the remaining teams are still tied, the tiebreakers start at the top of the list again to break the tie between the remaining teams.

Scorination and RP Bonus:
I plan to run the tournament with each matchup being a series of three games, using the SNL-updated formula. The group table will be scored by using three concurrent double round-robins, and using the Table Generator function in xkoranate to compile the results. This also allows all games involving Chromatika to be scored by a third party, as I can just input that result into the Group Table. Cutoff will happen between 9PM and 11PM Pacific Time. All matches involving Chromatika will be scored by a Third Party.

I will be adopting TKP/Tikariot's way of doing RP Bonus, as kindly explained below -

This bid proposes a weighted-average RP bonus:

Average RP grade for each window across the entire tournament (40%)
Highest single RP grade for any window across the entire tournament (25%)
RP grade for the window immediately before the last cutoff (20%)
Teams that have a bye window (either through bypassing the Round of 24 or by winning a later series with a game or two to spare) will be awarded a grade for that window equal to their highest single window in the Group Stage, and any RP they do post in their bye window is rolled into grading for the next one.
RP grade for the roster, which is also counted as an “MD0” window in its own right (15%)

This allows for a constant weighting of the "three Rs" (rank/roleplay/randomness) rather than having RP bonus act as a snowball that creates a scheduling bias whereby low-rank high-RP teams are harder to play the later you play them. All initial grades will be on a 0-1 scale, before the weighted average is multiplied by 3.689; the maxrank will always be 8.5 (the max bonus applied to top-ranked Drawkland's 4.821 ranking points), and hence the ratio of rank to RP bonus is almost exactly 4:3 throughout - ensuring highly active debutants can immediately reach a level close to that of a low-bonus high-rank team. As for unrostered teams? No roster, no rank, throughout. (Again, this prevents a scheduling-order advantage, in this case from playing those teams later rather than earlier.) Late rosters will still be counted in the same way, but whatever grade they're given will be deducted by 10% for each window scorinated to that point. To minimise the probability of this coming up to begin with, there will be a minimum of eight days between the posting of the IC thread and the first cutoff.

RP Bonus will be generous. No AI will be permitted except Image Generation (when declared by the RP poster) and translation service, unless used creatively as a part of the RP (with the creative use being declared). An example of this is writing about AI usage in your country with examples of AI written text written by an AI. I encourage you to TG or DM me directly if you want to go down this route.
