Format
40 teams- Single round robin. 4 groups of 10. Group stage is played home & away. This gives a 5/4 or 4/5 home/road split; to achieve balance, teams will be drawn against a team from the same pot in a different group, who has their opposite 5/4 home split, for a 10th game. This game will count towards their own group standings. Top 3 in each group advance directly to the Round of 16, 4th and 5th place teams to the play-in.

The Pavolan Play-in Round will occur fully in the Pavola sub-region of Rushmore, with matches primarily in the Kytler Peninsulae, while all knockout stage matches from the Round of 16 and onwards will take place in the Kingdom of Banija.

From a hosting perspective- OOCly Kytler Peninsulae will score groups A & B, while Banija will score groups C & D. For the 10th game, teams from group C will be paired with their same pot opponents from group D, and teams from group A will be paired with their same pot opponents from group B.

National Information

The Olympic Committee of Banija, and the Gridiron Football Leauge of Banija, welcomes NTs to the country for World Bowl LII!

The Kingdom of Banija is a country that classifies itself as a semi-constitutional monarchy. A nation that is a member of Arrosia, it is led by the Kabaka(which translates to King), and the current monarch is Kabaka Mwanga. The Kabaka, alongside with the Waziri(translates to Foreign Minister), whom he picks and dismisses solely at his pleasure, is the Head of State and responsible for the country's foreign affairs. Upon reaching age 25, the Isebantu(Crown Prince), becomes the Waziri by constitutional right. The full list of members of the Royal Family can be found here.

Kabaka Sekakama has just ascended to the throne due to the extremely recent death of his great-grandfather, Kabaka Mwanga. Since he is just 6 years old, however, his great aunt Immaculate will rule in his name as the Omukama(Regent) until he reaches the age of majority(17 years old).

The elected unicameral legislature is the Lukiiko(Parliament), and the Lukiiko is responsible for governance of domestic affairs. The Katikkiro(Prime Minister) is elected by the Lukiiko. After over a decade of rule by the left, this traditionally conservative nation has shown its true colors again by electing a government led by the center-right People's Protection Movement, in coalition with the Latter-Day Alliance. The most recent election results can be found here. The Katikkiro is Boaz Gor, who is currently serving in his first term as Head of Government. A full list of his cabinet, and other leading Banijan political decision-makers, can be found here.

The established church is the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, most commonly known as Puritan Mormonism. Well over 90% of Banijans identify as adherents to the state church, though freedom of religion is generally respected by the law and the populace. There is very little patience and open disdain, however, for atheism among the general populace. Courts are sometimes known not to enforce freedom of religion laws when it comes to those preaching atheism, which is considered an 'evil' view by many Banijans. A list of leadership of the Church leadership can be found here.

Due to the massive influence of Puritan Mormonism in this nation, they are relatively socially conservative. Abortion in this country is outlawed unless the mother's life is in danger, and polygamy for males is legal. The church's Universal Call to Motherhood, which teaches that the destiny of each and every woman is to give birth to children and raise faithful Puritan Mormons, has heavily shaped the nation's view on the role of women in society, forming the basis for Banija's prior sports gender segregation laws in the first place. Consumption of alcohol and the recreational use of marijuana in Banija is legal- other harder drugs are banned. Due to Mormon tradition and church law, the purchase/sale of coffee products is illegal within Banija- however, the consumption is not. Fans and teams are allowed to bring in their own coffee products as long as they are declared at customs, where it is then taxed per pound. Any attempt or effort to sell the product, however, can and will result in arrest.

Most people in the country speak both Olusanke, the local dialect, and English. There is a smattering of both Korean and French spoken within the country, thanks to Banija's Quebecois roots. Banija's currency is the shilling. The exchange rate to the NationStates Dollar is 25 shillings to 1 NSD. Conversion kiosks will be available at all hotels and at airports to exchange your money, as well as any banks. However, using the NSDs directly to purchase items is only guaranteed at stadiums and hotels- vendors outside of stadiums or hotels are not required to accept NationStates Dollars. Fans are also advised that street vendors will generally only take cash, although more and more will take card.

Of course, Banija was for a long time known as a developing country and more of a backwater Economically. However, due to a recent discovery of large oil deposits in Hangaza during World Cup 82, the country has been engaged in an economic miracle since then, with the country reaching true developed country status. Public transit within cities is via the boda boda, though each team/delegation will have passenger busses provided by the RTC to transport players, coaches, staff, family, etc... To and from the hotel to the games and practices. The climate of Banija has a lot of natural rainforest and jungle, which means that there is no winter, only wet season and dry season. Temperatures generally range at their coldest around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and at their hottest around 110 degrees Fahrenheit. For the duration of the tournament, average high temperatures will range from 60 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Banijans have a tendency of being relaxed about time. While, of course, things like flights and matches will run on time, this is something that is observed generally, especially at restaurants. It is considered standard to arrive about 15-20 minutes late for a restaurant reservation, which is something Banijan authorities would like to make note of for travelling fans and visitors to the country for this tournament. This is very true for hangouts with Banijans, dates, weddings, etc... Within the country.

The largest international airports within Banija are South Moravica/Istria International(called SMI International), Jinja City International, and Busukuma International. These serve the country's two largest cities, and the nation's capitol. All teams and dignitaries, upon their arrival to Banija, will fly into Gonzaga International Airport in Busukuma before reaching their final destination. Gonzaga International has long been known as the 'VIP' airport, catering to the royals, high-ranking government officials, and those deemed of special importance by the Government of the day. Most flights will go to one of those three airports before flying to the host city.

In terms of food, Banijans are very heavy meat eaters, and you'll find plenty of chicken, goat meat, beef, pork, and turkey options on your localized menus. In terms of non-meats, popular staple foods are jollof, matoke, Chapati, a rolex, and samosas. Strictly vegan restaurants within the country, outside of Istria and Busukuma, are almost non-existent, though of course you'll find non-meat options everywhere.

Per the latest Census, the national population of Banija is 133 million.

Banija is also well-known for having flourishing and extensive wildlife. It has Arrosia's biggest population of the 'Big 5' game animals- lions, buffalo, leopards, rhinos, and elephants. It also has the region's largest population of hippos, zebra, and antelope. These animals can be found extrensively throughout safaris and savannahs in rural Banija. Banija is known for not only having the biggest populations of those animals in the region- but arguably some of the biggest wildest populations of those animals in the entire multiverse, although of course that is unverifiable. Furthermore, Banija is known for being the only country, to our knowledge, that has a wild, native, and healthy triceratops population- the only living dinosaur species in the country. These are found primarily in Bunyoro and Buganda. Banija has strengthened their relationship with Cardenao by working with native authorities to plant a wild triceratops population in Cardenao.

Locations

Istria, Moravica
Banija's largest port and largest city by population, this is in the Moravica region, in Northwestern Banija. It is a city of 4,728,000 people, and it is known as Banija's economic capitol. It is largely considered Banija's most diverse city. Historically, this city served as the second capitol city of the Kasanke Tribe, the historical predecessors of the modern Banijan nation. It is one of two Banijan cities with a major foreign population- the other being the nation's capitol, Busukuma. It has risen in status since its designation as an Olympic City, having co-hosted the XIV Summer Olympiad with Orean, Liventia. Nearly a third of the city holds citizenship of a country other than Banijan. More of those come from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec or the Busoga Islands, but people come from all over Atlantian Oceania and the rest of the multiverse. It is also known as Banija's wealthiest city and primary economic hub. It is home to Banija's oldest university, the University of Loyola-Istria, and to the country's biggest airport. It is also home to the Regional Transit Corporation, as well as the Istria Stock Exchange.

Istria Olympic Stadium
Capacity of 80,000

The stadium being used in Istria is the Istria Olympic Stadium, with a capacity of 80,000. Per implication by the stadium name, this was the designated main stadium on the Istria side for the XIV Summer Olympiad, purpose built for said event. The stadium played host to the Olympic track and field events, as well as select games in both association and gridiron football, including the medal matches in both sports. It also serves as the primary home venue for the Istria Black Mambas, one of the city's two professional gridiron teams. It hosted matches at AOCAF LXII, BoF 76, and Cup of Harmony 89, as well as games during the 4th and 5th Brevity Challenge Cups.

Herzegovina City, Moravica
Banija's oldest city, the city by its current name is over 800 years old, when it was first conquered by the Kasanke people. It is a city with a population of over 2.9 million people. It is the heart of the Puritan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The national religion was started in this city, and the church's world headquarters, the Herzegovina Temple, is the multiverse's largest Puritan Mormon church. The Bishop of this church, formally titled the Patriarch of Herzegovina, is the most senior member of the church, and the joint head of the global church, alongside His Majesty, the Kabaka. It is home to Banija's largest university, Northern Moravica University. It served as the seat of government for the Kasanke Tribe. It is also the capitol city of the Moravica region. As the original home of the predecessors of the Banijan monarchs, all reigning monarchs are buried on the grounds of the Herzegovina Temple.

Herzegovina City had their own airport finally open just prior to World Cup 83. It is not the largest airport, and much traffic is still directed through Istria. Still, it has permanent international status, and is a city looking to continuously place themselves on the map.

Kavuma Field
Capacity of 83,800

Kavuma Field is a relatively new domed stadium in Herzegovina City, with a seating capacity of 83,800. It has the most interesting history of any stadium. For a long time, Istria had a domed gridiron stadium, named Liberty Stadium. But ahead of the XIV Summer Olympiad, which was co-hosted in the city, they tore down Liberty Stadium in favor of an outdoor stadium, the Istria Olympic Stadium. And so up north, in Herzegovina City, the Herzegovina City Cobras wanted to stop sharing a stadium with the city's soccer team, Herzegovina City FC. Therefore, they built a brand new stadium- and put a roof over this one. This has hosted, among other events, and Cobras home games in the GFLB, the NSCF 29 Final.

The name Kavuma Field is after its corporate sponsor, Kavuma Supermarkets- the biggest Supermarket chain in the country.

Busukuma, National Capitol Region
This is the nation's capitol, located on the country's Southern coastline. Puritan Mormons believe that their God told the-then chief of the Kasanke, Kabonero III, that he should conquer all of the land that is currently Banija, gave the country it's name(therefore killing the name of the Kasanke nation), and put the capitol in the South. He did it, made Busukuma the capitol, and declared himself Banija's first Maharaja, or Emperor. As the nation's capitol for over 400 years, the city has been the spot for many major events in Banijan history, and the seat of plenty of foreign embassies, a large foreign population, and Banija's first airport.

The city, of course, is known for having two airports- the public, international airport, called Busukuma International, and also the non-public airport, named Gonzaga International Airport- reserved for the royal family and their guests, elected national politicians, foreign diplomats, and the point of entry for high-ranking officials to avoid the general public. Heads of State/Government, Foreign Ministers, AOCAF officials, host committee members, and national teams, upon their first arrival into Banija, will fly into Gonzaga International.

Stadium of the Restoration
Capacity of 101,835

The national stadium, the Stadium of the Restoration, sits 1011,835. It is the country's largest non-racing stadium. On the stadium's site, in 1835, the Banijan monarchy was restored at this site in Banija's first declaration of independence from the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. When the RBSA was formed, it was the obvious site to build the national stadium. The original facility sat 69,000, and was then, as it is now, Banija's largest soccer stadium. It was home to the Banijan national soccer and gridiron teams, and hosted plenty of international tournaments, including the Finals of a UICA Globe Cup, World Bowl and a Baptism of Fire. However, the ageing facility needed to be rebuilt so that one could fit the WCC's 80,000 seater minimum requirement to host a World Cup opening match, as required when the country co-hosted World Cup 81. The stadium is jointly owned and operated by the Olympic Committee of Banija, the GFLB(Gridiron Football League of Banija), the BCSG(Banijan Collegiate Sports Group), and the RBSA(Royal Banijan Soccer Association).

The bid from AEP, an architectural firm from Siovanija & Teusland, won the bid to build a new Stadium of the Restoration on the same site in time for World Cup 81. The brand new stadium's capacity, according to the bid, is a nod to Banija's history, of the year that made the site famous in 1835. It has a retractable natural grass surface, used for soccer, and a retractable articifial turf surface, used for gridiron football and during ceremonies like coronations. There are no gaps between the stands, while the South Stand is a single tier, designed to amplify crowd noise. The stadium contains 35 suites, 1 of which is always reserved for RBSA executives, and the second always received for His Majesty, the Kabaka. They built the stadium to a capacity of 91,835. The last 4 digits of the capacity are intentional- 1835, after the year of the restoration of the Banijan monarchy.

However, in preparation for the Golden anniversary of this tournament, the owners of this stadium oversaw an 10,000 seat expansion, to 101,835- which makes it the largest stadium in the country. And, of course, still ending with 1835. This meant that the stadium was closed for World Cup 98 Qualifiers, but re-opened spectacularly in Week 2 of World Bowl L.

This stadium is Banija's most prestigious- having hosted more championship matches than any other. In soccer, this stadium has hosted both the opening match and one of the semifinals of both World Cup 81 and World Cup 83, The final of both AOCAF LVIII and LXII, the Baptism of Fire 76 Final, the Cup of Harmony 76 and 89 Finals, and even an IFCF Champions League Final. Most importantly, the stadium also played host to the World Cup 99 Final. In gridiron, this stadium has hosted two NSCF Finals and three World Bowl Finals, as well as being the annual host of the NSCF Celestia Conference Championship game, and the NSCF Mugisha III Memorial Bowl. It is also the annual host of three of the most important games on the Banijan gridiron calendar- the BCSG National Championship Game, the Simba Bowl(aka the GFLB title game), and Army v. Navy.

Jinja City, Hangaza
This city of 3.3 million people is Banija's largest inland city, and the third largest city in the entire country, in terms of population. This city is the economic center of the Hangaza region, even if its political capitol lies towards the East, in Aissa. Despite being an inland city, it is rapidly diversifying- with migrant groups from across Arrosia, that want a cheaper cost-of-living than the traditional migrant hubs along the Banijan coastline, are moving here in bigger numbers.

Historically, the city is known for being the spiritual home of one of Banija's minority ethnic groups- the Akamba. It is also sight of the first battle of the Kasanke conquest, when they moved from the Moravican coast to take over the entirety of what is now Banija. The city is named after Banija's biggest river, the Jinja River.

Stadium- BCEL Stadium
Capacity of 52,400

This stadium has a capacity of 52,400. Sponsored by the soft drink company BCEL from Baker Park. It was built to attract matches for BoF 67, and is considered one of Banija's premier stadiums. It is home to Banijan club Jinja City FC, one of Banija's Super 5 clubs. It is one of quite a few stadiums in Banija that are shared between the soccer and the gridiron teams. It has hosted matches at all three WCC tournaments, as well as prior World Bowls that Banija has hosted.

Aissa, Hangaza
This city of 1.6 million is one that is rapidly growing, and finding itself on the map. The regional capitol of Hangaza is situated on Banija's eastern border with Geisenfried, and is quickly becoming one of Banija's largest cities. It's kind of a counter-cultural city. Known for its strong Yue minority community, it is also known for having a big autoracing community- both things that are quite obviously rare within the Kingdom. But like the rest of this country, it's a sports mad town- and one obviously where this sport dominates.

Despite all that, Aissa is the closest thing that Banija has to a true 'hipster' community. If you want to be counter-cultural, this is the place to be.

The Crocodile Swamp
Capacity of 65,000

This is stadium is an older stadium, also used the last time Banija hosted the World Bowl. It is the full-time home of the Aissa Crocodiles, one of the premier franchises of the GFLB. The city's fans are known for being rabid and fierce, and fan culture in Aissa is known for being quite rowdy. The tailgate culture is quite strong here- expect tailgating trucks and what not all along the Riverfront.

Hoima, Ankole
Now, while Hoima wasn't a shoe-in per say, it was never really going to be left off of the host list, was it? A city with 2.5 million people, one with a stadium as large as theirs, and the hosting experience- Hoima was always going to be chosen. Now, of course, for a city of its size, it is probably the least multi-cultural big city in Banija, besides maybe Mynda- not surprising considering it is an inland city. Despite that, it is considered very left-wing by Banijan standards.

Stadium- Mavuto Field
Capacity of 75,000

This is a stadium that was built before AOCAF LVIII, and it is a joint shared stadium between the Hoima Warriors, the S-FPL soccer club, and the Hoima Zebra- the GFLB gridiron team.

Lwanga, Buganda
Citizens of Lwanga, Buganda are excited for this moment- it is rare that they are picked to host games at major tournaments, and they look to take full advantage of this opportunity. The only previous tournaments they have hosted games at were Cup of Harmony 76, and World Bowl XXXVII. Lwanga is the second-largest city in Buganda- a city with just barely over 1 million people within its city limits. The RTC has heavily invested in this area to ensure public transit is up to par for the arrival of the Finals. And yet, like Aissa, this Southeastern city does not have the easiest access. To get there directly, you fly into Busukuma International Airport, and then fly to Lwanga. But the highways in Buganda are known for being poor, and it is generally known as the region with the weakest freeway network not only in the country, but throughout the GSW(though, of course, this does not count places like Valanora where citizenry doesn't drive at all).

The city is famous for being host to the remains of the House of Mageba, rulers of Banija from 1618 to 1815. And with the Buganda region as a whole being home to about 40% of Banija's wild triceratops population(around 58% are in Bunyoro), it is a major hub for safari related sightseeing, especially around seeing triceratops.

The Watering Hole
Capacity of 63,000

This stadium is home to the Lwanga Rhinos, in the GFLB. With a capacity of 63,000, it is Banija's oldest domed gridiron stadium. Why a dome in a country without winter? Buganda is known for having lots of wind- and when the option to put a roof on the building came up, all the stakeholders jumped onto it. It isn't seen as one of Banija's nicest stadiums, but it's relatively large capacity, in addition to the fact that Lwanga rarely gets games like these, ensure that they get to host when this tournament comes.

Dodoma, Bunyoro
The Bunyoro Region is now primarily seen as a basketball region, as basketball is the region's highest rated sport in terms of attendance, youth participation, and TV ratings. Still, this being a sports mad country, gridirion is still very popular here, even if it's been years since the region has had a team in Banija's top flight. That team is Bunyoro RSC- more internationally known for their lacrosse success than soccer, who play in Dodoma, a city with just over 1.2 million people. Locals joke that while in the rest of Banija, there is dry season and wet season, in Bunyoro, there is wet and wetter season- it has some of the highest rates of rainfall in all of Arrosia.

Albert III Memorial Stadium

This was built for World Cup 81 under a different name, Paa Nuepe, and is currently used by Bunyoro RSC- a multi-sporting who have professional soccer, lacrosse, and gridiron teams. However, after the assassination of the current Kabaka's father, Kabaka Albert III, during World Cup 82 Qualifying, this stadium was named after him. It has featured in numerous tournaments, with World Cup 81 obviously being the most famous. When Banija won Eagle's Cup VIII, however, this stadium would be renamed again, and designated the country's official Eagle's Club venue. With a stadium capacity of 48,600, and with revolutionary field drainage technology, thoughtful considering the amount of rain that this region gets, this will be some of Banijan engineering technology on full display. Due to the unique structure of the roof, the sound is made to go down onto the ground, and when it is full, it is considered one of the loudest venues in the country. Now of course, considering the pitiful state of Bunyoro RSC, this stadium is rarely full, but what if...

With the destruction of the Eagles Club following the Vilitan cheating scandal, this stadium has reverted back to its second name- the Albert III Memorial Stadium. Since this used to be the country's official Eagle's Club venue, a number of amenities have been added for luxury suite holders. For those in luxury boxes, there is access to a 'VIP Club', formerly known as the 'Eagles Club'. which hosts a fancy exclusive bar, a workout room, and even an indoor pool(that is not open on Matchday). FA executives for teams playing at this stadium will get access to those amenities.

It also features elite field draining technology, as just because rain is frequent here, they are able to maintain the quality of their grass pitches.

Sisonke, Kitara
Sisonke, Kitara, is the capitol city in the fast growing Kitara Region of Banija. With a population around 1.2 million and growing rapidly, it is a city that is trying to make a name for itself. Just about an hour south of Istria, it is considered a 'new age' city- rapid population growth in recent years makes it a great hub for single young professionals in Banija. Its rapid rise to prominence in Banija means that it is more regularly being selected to host games at major tournaments, and the excitement is palpable. It is most well known for being home to former IFCF Champions League winners, the Kitara Athletic Association.

Keystone Stadium

Keystone Stadium(cap. 47,000) is the home of Kitara Athletic Association, the professional sporting club that has had a rapid rise alongside the city of Sisonke, as well as the Sisonke Leopards of the GFLB. The Leopards are an up and down, although have had good days recently with Wagner-Young as their QB1.

[The Kytler Peninsulae]

In the Pavola Play-In? This is where you're going!

The West Pavola subregion of Rushmore has become a major hub of multiversal sport in recent years, hosting two of the last three World Cups - including the historic 100th edition - along with a World Baseball Classic, a Cup of Harmony, and entirely too many Copas Rushmori.

The subregion is generally defined as comprising of The Kytler Peninsulae, Tikariot, Qusmo (an island nation in the Xandrian Sea but close enough to the Kytlerian south coast to have ferry links), Kwrpania, the city-state of Frjálshöfn, and whatever's left of Græntfjall at this point. The Pavola Play-In takes place in the first two of these nations, with two games on the Kytlerian mainland, one in Tikariot, and one in the Kytlerian exclave of Bitternea.

Rushmore as a whole is seen as having untapped potential for the sport, which to date has only been tapped by the Kytlerians (and largely by people who might not consider themselves Kytlerians, at that). The Pavola Play-In is seen by the GFLB - whose Grow the Game initiative aims to assist gridiron taking root in new territory - as a means of assisting this process.

The four venues are as follows:

Zube Olympic Stadium, Zube, The Kytler Peninsulae
Zube - pronounced ZOO-buh - is the purpose-built Kytlerian capital, known as “Snowflake City” for the aerial appearance granted by the light colours used for roof and road surfaces in order to reduce the urban heat island effect. The current administrative home of the World Cup Committee, it is the second-largest Kytlerian city by population with around 850,000, and (possibly, the numbers are close and disputed) the largest by number of jobs based there.

The city planning incorporated a large city park - Donaldson Park - that was explicitly created as the sporting hub of the nation and as a potential future Olympic Park. That potential, of course, manifested - and, as the name rather gives away, Zube Olympic Stadium lies at the heart of it, although Zube actually co-hosted those Games (a first at the time) with Kytler Bay City to the south, the two being connected by a high-speed Maglev link that connects Zube International Airport to Bay City's waterfront Olympic Park in 25 minutes via Zube Olympic Park and central Zube.

Expanded to around 70,000 for those Games, internal modernisation (and the removal of temporary seating) since then has reduced the stadium's capacity to the symbolic 61,093 it seats today (somewhat fewer for gridiron, depending on how many front-row "sideline" seats are tarped off either despite or because of how close to the sideline they aren't). The stadium is best known for its suspended upper bowl with a pillar-supported gap around each bend of the athletics-led oval shape; almost certainly the most well-known architectural symbol of the country (and a protected national landmark in itself), the space between the pillars provides views out across the Olympic Park, and once memorably held a temporary ramp that WSRC rally cars used to literally jump into the stadium at the end of a West Pavola Rally stage.

Barstone Stadium, Roddens, The Kytler Peninsulae
The “capital of the north,” Roddens is by far the largest city on a northern peninsula dominated by rolling chalk hills and small market towns where cricket is the summer sport of choice. It likes to call itself “Birthplace of Kytlerian Sport” on the grounds that the first ever Kytlerian international sporting home game was a World Lacrosse Championship pool phase game on the Roddens University Field, and the grass amphitheatre at the Roddens Winter Gardens has been a renowned public viewing fan zone for generations of supporters as well as an occasional open-air concert venue.

Also hosting the odd concert is Barstone Stadium, the first of the new wave of Kytlerian stadia following the end of the multi-decade international isolation that followed those Olympics. It is notable for its glowing facade, usually the red of Roddens City but capable of any colour. It also has a retractable roof, but a plan to use this as the basis for making it double up as the national cricket stadium (thus preventing any matches from being rained out) were thwarted due to the way this would have compromised the seating arrangements for soccer use; instead, the old soccer ground was renovated and reconfigured into the National Oval, with its former built-in stage at one end becoming the pavilion (and its role as a concert venue transferred to the new stadium). Roddens Stadium was the temporary home of Atletik Težia in their Champions’ Cup title defense in exile from Mytanar political violence - either due to the retractable roof being seen as a security feature against potential drone attacks, the relative isolation of Roddens geographically, or simply Atletik’s existing ties with Roddens City - and following violence in an NSCF game in the southern Kytlerian city of Alaer caused by separatists from the nearby gridiron stronghold of Varn, the Pavola Play-In game scheduled for that city has been moved across Kytler Bay to here for very similar reasons. It seats 53,500 for soccer and 52,048 for gridiron - losing relatively little capacity in this guise because of the tall sideline advertising boards.

CBDN Bowl, Cobden, The Kytler Peninsulae
The one-time independent state of Bitternea, bridging Tikariot and Nyowani Kitara on the eastern side of the Xandrian Sea, was absorbed into the Kytlerian Federal Republic following a civil war decades ago, and remains an oft-forgotten corner of West Pavola - not least because its sporting clubs have not been fully integrated with either the Kytlerian leagues or those of its two neighbours. When Bitternean sport was thrust onto the map recently, it was through the success of the Kytlerian basketball team reaching the last eight on IBC debut; basketball is the most popular sport in these parts, and Kytlerian IBC representation was delayed by the thorny issue of Bitternean representation when, despite the civil war resolution, not all Bitterneans are keen on a Kytlerian identity.

The CBDN Bowl - complete with hipster abbreviation of the Bitternean capital lit up on its iridescent metal facade - was built as a means of bringing the exclave of around 1.1 million people to international attention as a venue for significant sporting events, and has a hidden retractable roof for multi-purpose use to reinforce this potential. It quickly secured hosting rights to the Liga B Champions Trophy and Rising Stars Cup finals, and later became the country's first home of NSCF collegiate gridiron courtesy of a hastily-assembled team from Bitternea International University that was smashed to bits for one year and then inexplicably became a literal playoff team the next. It seats 42,069 in soccer mode and just over 39,000 for gridiron.

Alcassar Arena, Alcassar, Tikariot
Alcassar is the capital of Tikariot's westernmost province, Acrassia, and Tikariot's third largest city behind Tikariot City and Port Rhovanyon. It is known for its hot and unforgiving climate, which can make games a little challenging. Therefore, Alcassar's architecture is dominated by light colours and stone buildings to repel the heat. It is also known for its many street markets and street vendors, where you can literally buy (almost) anything.

After the ancient Jassan Al Nuur Stadium was deemed unusable, the city built a modern temple to football: the Alcassar Arena. With a façade that is taking inspiration from traditional Alcassar's architecture, its inside combines the same traditions with cutting-edge technology, interactive displays, cooling oases, misting arcades, and a retractable roof to ensure players and fans alike will not turn into roasted chickens. It seats 82,000 for soccer, making it Tikariot's largest stadium, and played host to the historic World Cup 100 final.

As the beaten down group, exhausted from the flight, arrives at their hotel, they settle in and unpack. They have seen an unusual amount of... freedom in this country's citizens. Sergei Kolanikov, ever the joker, stated earlier that he wondered if free speech existed here, before bursting into laugter laughter at the thought of such nonesense.
"Alright men, let's go over our roster. (OOC you can fill in any of the people who i didnt give a position on your own because since we dont have too many players they play whatever roles they are randomly assigned to)
Gorovich Helenov
Sergei Kolanikov - QB

Andreyinhaser Lokaserfint
Retiyer Alexendreiite
Arefereferefi Jitreldeopimu
(low amount of players reflects how CRU is in poverty canonically, thus affecting how roles are given out. No kits for now, fill in any player's positions on your own.)
Sounds right?"
"Yes, coach."
"then get some rest. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow."

The next day

Sergei, an early riser, woke up the disgruntled team at 5:00 AM sharp.
"Wake up my comrades, for it is time!" He yelled with a grin.
"Shut the hell up" came the response.
Sergei, seeing the state of the team, woke coach up.
This was, of course, enough to get everyone out of bed.
After some quick preperations the team piled onto the so called 'team bus' or more, a small, beaten down van, courtesy of the CRU government.
Arriving at the training facility, they got to work. A not well versed team in terms of football, they weren't out to win. They were out to play, and convince the country back home they won.

Coaching staff:

Head coach: Robert Victorino (Drawkland, 76)
Victorino formerly played in the Gridiron League of Drawkland, most notably as the linebacker for the Waxton Pilots. He decided to move to coaching early in his career after an injury, including jobs as linebackers coach or defensive coordinator at various positions with colleges and pro teams in Drawkland. He'll call the defense and make the game situation calls. He's a conservative as a coach, doesn't want to take a lot of risks, fitting the Elephants’ scheme. Also, being in your early 70s as a Drawkian is like being in your early fifties normally. Probably, I think. After a slow start, he actually turned the Elephants into a competitive team, somehow, including a stunning semifinal appearance. Why exactly are the Ellies ranked third -- ahead of Drawkland! -- by the way?

Offensive play-style
The Elephants will take most of their plays from scrimmage in 3-wideout sets, but may occasionally come out in heavier packages too. Their game-plan is focused on shielding QB Yadav with strong players on the other skill positions. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a lack of those, although the wide receiver room seems much improved. The O-Line is pretty great with a lot of depth, though. That would probably be more useful if they had a better running back than Fantikos, who may be a bit washed. Maybe a lot a bit washed. There’ll be a pretty even mix of runs and passes, and probably a lot of punts.

Defensive play-style
The Elephants mostly play with a 4-2-5 defense, bringing them in line with some more modern approaches. Now they only need some good players to run this scheme. There’s some promising players here, with Alani Sörens and Shivay Patil and Bruno Clarke. Unfortunately, that’s just about it. There will be less blitzing than average, and the pachyderms are likely weaker against the run; and also, probably pretty bad in general.

OFFENSE:

Quarterbacks:
QB1: #8 Scott Yadav (25, Richardson graduate)
Backup: #5 Kilian Knight (35, Elephant Valley graduate)
Welcome to the Scott Yadav era! Graduating early after his junior year at Richardson, the youngster is taking charge of the Quarterback position at the World Bowl level, expecting to also get drafted to the RFL. His skillset includes usually finding the stadium and often even knowing which side to line up on, as well as being kinda okay at handoffs. If he ever figures out how to actually, perhaps, run with the football or pass the football, now would be a good time – he certainly does have a lot of help on the Line and in the Receiver room.

Running Backs:
RB1: #2 Thomas Fantikos (35, Ratzupalfu graduate)
Backup: #34 Henry Carter (31, Elephant Valley graduate)
Thomas Fantikos was part of the Egrets rushing attack, but while he was the thunder to the lighting of Zamandi Ayana there, he’ll have to shoulder most of the load alone now. That seems pretty difficult, so the Elephants are unlikely to have a threatening rush in the cards on every single snap. Unfortunately, he’s now approximately 158 in running back years, so with this heavy usage expected, he may soon crumble into dust, and he’s also going to be missing his buddy, Zach Stevens, who was somehow so bad at being a QB that the Elephants don’t even bring him to the World Bowl anymore. That’s an impressive achievement. Rumours are he has become a monk in rural Banija now. Anyhow, some running backs are still youthful and spry at 35. Thomas Fantikos is not. The Ellies need help in the worst way.

Tight Ends:
TE1: #86 Dustin van Halfensen (35, Richardson graduate)
Speaking of 35-year-olds that shouldnt see the field anymore! In his college career, Dustin van Halfensen accumulated more than 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns on about 150 receptions with a program as famed as Richardson, proving he’s the real deal. If DvH, known to Snow Bear fans as ‘perhaps the first mean Ellie’ goes down, the Elephants are very cooked at this spot. He’s been reliable for his entire career, but he’s very old now.

Wide Receivers:
WR1: #82 Marcel Schlachter (33, Loyola-Istria graduate)
WR2: #80 Alice Conti (29, Northern Moravica graduate)
WR3: #81 Emma Barbosa (27, Raynor graduate)
#87 Victoire Wilkinson (33, Elephant Valley graduate)
Schlachter stood out as a solid receiver with the Blue Thunder, and will be the #1 option for QB Stevens more often than not. A bigger wideout than most, he’s able to outmuscle defenders, but less likely to be able to outrun them (something that’s only gotten more true with age), and he’s also the best blocker of the group. Conti didn’t quite reach her ceiling in college with NMU, but is a talented, speedy player. They’re joined by Emma Barbosa, who had a quiet, but successful career with Raynor that included a championship. The roles for the trio aren’t quite defined; with none of them a real natural fit in the slot.

Offensive Line:
LT1: #75 Zoe Muller (27, Felswyr graduate)
LG1: #76 Christian-Aaryav Matthews (27, Felswyr graduate)
C1: #73 Abdullah-Aadi Makavan (26, Richardson graduate)
RG1: #60 Milo Bauer (29, Loyala-Istria graduate)
RT1: #77 Werner Kaltmann (31, Mar Sara graduate)
Backups: C: #66 Dhairya Taylor (31, Cold Hill graduate)
#68 OT Valentina Dietrich (29, Richardson graduate)
LG: #79 Brain-Willie Richardson (23, Richardson graduate)
RT: #61 Niklas Patel (23, Richardson graduate)
The offensive line is where the Elephants really shine -- this is almost certainly their strongest unit. Felswyr duo Muller and Matthews were important pieces for a Felswyr team that just made the Championship game, and they’ll be in charge of protecting Yadav’s blindside. In the other tackle slot, there’s Werner Kaltmann, perhaps the most underrated Elephant after an impressive career with the Raiders. On the interior, the line is filled out by Milo Bauer and Makavan, who both played with formidable programs as well. Makavan, known Snow Bear friend, has graduated to be the starter, which means the Elephants now start an ULI grad and a Richardson grad next to each other. That can surely only go well. In similar fashion, Dietrich is an excellent swing tackle, and there’s some additional young depth with a pair of Richardson emotional support linemen. The Elephants are likely going to be just fine in case even if there’s an injury on the O-Line.

DEFENSE: (main starters in bold)

Defensive Line:
LE1: #62 Lennard Thompson (25, Staramara graduate)
DT1: #97 Dominick Ford (35, Elephant Valley graduate)
DT2: #99 Christopher Shaw (33, Elephant Valley graduate)
RE1: #63 Kathryn Behera (23, Staramara graduate)
Backup: DE: #4 Joseph Pearson (25, Columbus graduate)
The interior defensive line is pretty horrific, but the Ellies actually have a great pair of EDGE rushers. The two played together for a long time in Staramara, with both Thompson and Behera putting up good numbers for the Chromatik school, which they’re looking to follow up on at the next level.

Linebackers:
LB1: #59 Shivay Patil (31, Felswyr graduate)
LB2: #53 Laura Davis (25, LeBois graduate)
Backup: LB/DE #54 Juan Williams (23, LeBois graduate)
Patil will be asked to do a lot here. She did well for herself with FSU, and has been invaluable in recent runs, but she’s being asked a lot. Opposite her is Laura Davis, who’s been good in pass coverage, but mostly as a bench piece for LeBois. Behind them, there’s youngster Juan Williams, who is huge, but it’ll take the team a little bit to figure out where and how to use him most effectively.

Cornerbacks:
CB1: #23 Alani Sörens (33, Felswyr State graduate)
CB2: #33 Zachary Walker (33, Elephant Valley graduate)
CB3: #28 Eric Kaur (24, Elephant Valley graduate (post-NSCF era))
Alani Sörens is the clear standout here, as the FSU grad showed her ability to go toe-to-toe with elite receivers. Beyond that, there’s a lot of issues; none of these other corners are what you’d call trustworthy, and Sörens herself isn’t getting any younger, either.

Safeties:
SS1: #31 Bruno Clarke (29, Felswyr graduate)
FS1: #22 Johnny Robinson (25, Columbus graduate)
The Elephants have another Felswyr grad here in Bruno Clarke, who’s pretty good. Johnny Robinson at least started for Columbus, but he wasn’t what you would call “good”.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Kicker:
K: #90 Nicolo Lorenz (29, Raynor graduate)
Nicolo Lorenz has proven that he’s a really good kicker, so the Elephants at least have a viable way to score three-pointers.

Punter:
P: #3 Tom Knight (25, Mar Sara graduate)
Backup: P: #91 Alicia Woodbrough (33, Northern Moravica graduate)
Tom Knight has established himself as a reliable punter for one of the best programs in NSCF, not causing a lot of trouble on or off the field, and just getting the job done. Relegates Woodbrough to a backup, despite not causing any disasters for the national team. Yet.

If you have any questions or something, please let me know either via TG or on discord.

Stadium Info:
Elephant Stadium (15,400)
Located a bit outside Elephant Valley, this small stadium is the biggest pure gridiron stadium the country has to offer – in fact, it is bigger than the other three combined. Without a roof, it is open to the elements of both wind and rain. Elephant Field has also previously hosted WB knockout games for no good reasons. Elephant Valley is the capital of the nation, making it a hub for politics, entertainment and sports alike.

Other RP Note: Please note that the Regulars now have three "units" on either side of the ball; there are respectively a first, second, and third unit offense and defense. The numbers are purely functional, they do not indicate an order of preference or precedence. While all three units on either side of the ball may play in a given game, the unit that will get the most playing time will vary based on the tendencies of the team they are playing. I will provide notes for which units will usually be favored against what types of opponents. While you can absolutely use your own discretion about personnel, if it's not too much trouble I would ask that you try to keep this mechanism in mind when writing about the team. Thanks!

Team Overview:
You might look at that coaching staff and go "Holy cow! That's a huge staff!" And it is. And you will likely look below and say "Holy [expletive], that's an even bigger roster!" And it is.

There's a simple reason for that. The Regulars, as always, have something of an issue with recruiting the cream of the crop from their nation. They are banned by agreement between the Ottonian National Sporting Commission and the AGL (the top domestic gridiron football league) from using AGL players on their roster, and the footprint of Allamunnic and Drakuri players abroad simply doesn't support using players on foreign club rosters. Instead, now as always, the Regulars recruit players largely from scout teams, street free agents, and developmental leagues to fill their roster, and make up for a lack of top-end athletic talent by having 'good enough' players who practice and train together year-round with a dedicated staff for a program with a proud history and deep institutional memory to build cohesion and player discipline far beyond what a more conventional national team program can build. Once upon a time, this system laid the foundation for a generational run of success between World Bowls XV and XXVII, and a lingering status in the sport well into the 30th and 40th editions, even as the results on the field began to slip.

In a bid to increase the team's versatility, encourage (good-natured) competition between players and coaches, and keep opponents on their toes, this year the Regulars have taken an approach that maximizes their budget, relatively unheralded players, large stable of experienced former players and tenured coaches, and extensive facilities and created "units" on both offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Each platoon (offense/defense) is composed of four units: a first unit, second unit, third unit, and reserve/scout unit. Despite the numbering system, there is no priority or preference between the units; rather, each unit is the purview of a dedicated coordinator who constructs a starting team according to their philosophy and areas of strength, with the scout/reserve unit composed of players who work in practice and are first in line for promotion to a starting unit in the event of injuries.

The special teams unit is the lone exception to this: because special teams (especially kick/punt returns and kick/punt coverage) have long been a weakness for the Regulars, a single dedicated special teams platoon has been formed; while these players do nominally have offensive or defensive positions they also practice, their primary focus is on special teams.

Due to the roster containing 150 players, obviously the Regulars do not have enough jersey numbers to go around; this means that, in practice, special teamers and reservists who dress for games are highly-likely to wear pinnies or be issued temporary numbers. This is a subtle nod to the fact that I do not have either the time or patience to ensure that 100 players have unique numbers, never mind 150.

The Offenses:

First Unit

Unit Leader: Waldr Hoerst (Age: 50)
Base Formation: Pistol
Base Personnel: 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TE)
Overview:
The 1st Unit Offense is where the Regulars build their capabilities towards the spread; former national team receiver Waldr Hoerst oversees an aggressive unit that uses speed, athleticism, and space to pull apart defenses and create openings to move the ball. Part of that is through the use of a dynamic quick and intermediate passing game, part of that is with the crushing running of powerback Riktun Ellinger, and much of it is with the arm and quick feet of QB Theo Falkenburg, whose suddenness makes him a dangerous runner in space and whose arm allows the punishing of defenses that crowd the line and the tackle box. The 1st Unit will see the most time in situations where the Regulars either must score quickly or are facing an opponent that lacks the necessary team speed to avoid being stressed by the relative track meet that this squad will turn the game into.

Unit Roster:
Starters
QB#07 Theo Falkenburg - Age: 26; Height: 6’1”; Weight: 212lbs - Dual-Threat

-----~~~~~=====~~~~~-----

Second Unit

Unit Leader: Odie Iarlsun (Age: 48)
Base Formation: I Formation
Base Personnel:21 personnel (2 RB, 1 TE)
Overview:
The Second Unit Offense, overseen by towering former Regulars tight-end Odie Iarlsun, is arguably the most ‘traditional’ Regulars’ offense, being built off the power run game, play-action, and deep shots used to keep the defense honest while grinding out yardage behind a strong offensive line and hard-running backs. This offense asks its players to do a lot of different things to keep defenses off-balance. Expect this unit to get a lot of playing time when the Regulars think they can get a size/strength advantage to batter an opponent under. An opponent that can load the box without compromising their pass coverage, though, can stunt this offense; Ed Karlsun has a big arm but he’s not a great volume passer, and the receivers are good but not elite.

Unit Roster

Third Unit

Unit Leader: Rikard Kynyk (Age: 49)
Base Formation: Single Wing
Base Personnel: 32 (3 RB, 2 TE)
Overview:
Former Regulars offensive lineman Rik Kynyk heads up the Third Unit Offense, the power-option-oriented unit the team will often turn to in order to run the clock and grind down athletically-inferior opponents. Kynyk's unit and playcalling is something of a throwback to yesteryear, emphasizing primarily a power-man blocking scheme and using trickery and unit cohesion to trip up and confuse less-disciplined units. The offensive line is a little undersized by the Regulars’ standards, but they make up for it with aggression and pound-for-pound strength.

Reserve Unit

Unit Leader: Zak Shen (Age: 32)
Base Formation: None
Base Personnel: None
Overview: Zak Shen oversees the Reserve/Scout unit of the offense. The players on this unit act as deep reserves for the other units, or operate the scout team offense to assist the defense in practice. The players on the reserves tend to be either second-chance players or relatively young, hoping for a shot at national team glory or the chance to build (or rebuild) a flagging professional gridiron career. They receive training in the same verbiage and base playbook as the rest of the team, and notably the reserves include all the possible replacement QBs for the team. Due to the size of the team, Reserve Unit players are only issued permanent numbers when they are promoted onto one of the starting units.

The Defenses

First Unit

Unit Leader: Karlus Walturs (Age: 55)
Base Formation: 5-3
Base Personnel: 3 DL, 2 EDGE, 1 MLB, 2 SS, 3 DB
Overview:
Long-time national team linebacker and defensive skills coach Kyl Walturs heads up the first defensive unit. Walturs employs what he calls the "Regulars' Hourglass", a multifront defense that utilizes 3 true "down linemen", 2 "tweener" DE/OLB hybrid players, a true "Mike" linebacker, two "rover" LB/SS hybrids, and three true DBs (usually free safeties) to create a versatile, bend-but-don't-break defense that can seamlessly shift between aggressive and conservative play styles, limiting big plays but due to coverage and size mismatches leaving more room for a methodical offense to move the ball if things go wrong. Walturs is an experienced play-caller, which is important because his unit's success hinges somewhat heavily on his and his players' abilities to anticipate what an opponent wants to do and stop it or adjust accordingly, since mismatches can become a ruinous problem, otherwise.

Second Unit

Unit Leader: Piotr Farrangur (Age: 50)
Base Formation: 4-4
Base Personnel: 4 DL, 2 Edge, 2 LB, 3 DB
Overview:
Former Regular's star defensive tackle Pio Farrangur runs the Second Unit Defense. Farranger operates an aggressive unit predicated on attacking the opponent and disrupting plays before they can really start, but at the cost of potentially leaving big plays open. Because Farrangur's base personnel and front utilizes something between a 6-2 and a 4-4 front, a lot is asked of the three true defensive backs, and a skilled passing offense could probably carve this unit up, while their natural fit is to be used against more run-heavy teams. Also one of the team's defensive line coaches, Farrangur expects his front-six to dominate the line of scrimmage and the flats and prevent more intricate offenses from picking their mostly-zone coverages apart.

Third Unit

Unit Leader: Rikard Junnsunn (Age: 49)
Base Formation: 3-4
Base Personnel: 3 DL, 4 LB, 4 DB
Overview:
Rikard Junnsunn once upon a time was a star cornerback for the Regulars. In an era where the Regulars had more recruiting success, he was the rare true lockdown, man-to-man cornerback on the roster, and he's thankfully turned out to be a more-than-competent technical coach for his old position, while also having a good head for x's and o's. As a result, he heads up the Third Unit defense, arguably the new Regulars' most-conventional defense. Perhaps surprisingly, Junnsunn operates the only unit that cannot really be considered a "nickel" defense in its base personnel; instead, he asks the most (and places the most trust in) his defensive backs, using a lot of man coverage and a multi-front seven-man box to hopefully ensure they aren't left on islands for too long.

Reserve Unit

Unit Leader: Claetus U'Daanyl (Age: 42)
Base Formation: None
Base Personnel: None
Overview:
Former star centerfielder Claetus U'Daanyl has taken over responsibility for the reserve/scout unit. His excellent grasp of fundamentals and the whole of the defensive playbook make him ideal for installing basic concepts, giving primers on the different defensive units, and training reserve and scout team players in the basic skills needed to be competent gridiron defenders.

Special Teams

Special Teams Coordinator: Olesunn Kriegur (Age: 40)
Kicking Skills Coach: Wyatt Skode (Age: 59)
Overview:
Special teams (particularly kick-off coverage) has long been a weakness of the Regulars; punt coverage has been dicey at times as well, notwithstanding the superbly talented and skilled Wyatt Skode's tenure as the team's punter. Kriegur, a former longsnapper and X's-and-O's enthusiast, has been tasked with the unenviable job of bringing the Regulars' kick and punt coverage up to snuff, also taking the nominal head of the 20-man Special Teams unit in the bargain so that Skode can step back to focus on his work as the team's kicking skills coach, training up the team's stable of field goal artists, place kickers, and punters, and working with the snappers and holders to ensure the team remains a well-oiled machine in the one part of special teams that has not, historically, been a problem.

Kicking Specialist:
#15 - Harald Alexandrus - Age: 31; Height: 5’8”; Weight: 179lbs - Place-Kicker
#04 - Batu Darrenburg - Age: 26; Height: 5’9”; Weight: 217lbs - Punter
#29 - Holden Felicitanu - Age: 25; Height: 6’0”; Weight: 211lbs - Kick-Off Specialist
#96 - Rikardu d’Mirandes - Age: 30; Height: 5’11”; Weight: 206lbs - Generalist

Harald Alexandrus is a technician of a kicker with a somewhat lackluster leg for this level of competition; he's quite accurate out to about 45 yards, and very consistent, but his accuracy begins dropping precipitously beyond that and any kick longer than 50 yards is likely to get dicey. Darrenburg is a converted rugby player and is the avid student of special teams coordinator Wyatt Skode, which means he's very much ahead of the curve but is still learning. He's got a solid leg, but nothing exceptional. Felicitanu is kind of the opposite of Alexandrus; his placement is spotty, but he has a big leg and can knock kicks deep. If the team needs to attempt a 55+ yard field goal, Felicitanu will likely make the attempt, and he handles most kick-offs unless the team is attempting an onside or squib kick. d'Mirandes straddles the line between all three, and can acquit himself decently in any of these duties, since he's the reserve kicker, but he's highly unlikely to even dress for most games unless injuries become an issue; his presence on the roster is mostly a precaution.

Long-Snapper:
LS#69 - Junsun Gneiss - Age: 32; Height: 5’11”; Weight: 274lbs - Primary Longsnapper
LS - Janus Hult - Age: 27; Height: 6’1”; Weight: 298lbs - Reserve Center
KH - Brandyn Wyrth - Age: 18; Height: 6'4"; Weight: 230lbs - Reserve Quarterback
KB - Frank Sersun - Age: 26; Height: 6'2"; Weight: 275lbs - Reserve Guard
KB - Anders Stroenheim - Age: 24; Height: 6'1"; Weight: 278lbs - Reserve Guard
KB - Felip Ruiys - Age: 23; Height: 6'3"; Weight: 271lbs - Reserve Defensive Tackle
KB - Izaak Greencastle - Age: 28; Height: 6'2"; Weight: 272lbs - Reserve Defensive Tackle

Gneiss is the longsnapper. He's reliable. The most noteworthy thing about him is wearing the number #69 and having a last name pronounced "Nice". Otherwise, the idea is generally to not hear about him. Hult is closer to being a deep-reserve center than anything else, but he does also count as the back-up long-snapper should anything happen to Gneiss. Brandyn Wyrth is the team's dedicated holder; he is, strictly speaking, also a quarterback and might get some practice time with the scout teams, especially if injuries pile up, and he might one day move out of his holder role. The four "kick-blockers" act as interior linemen on field goal kicks and punts, and are reserve (and relatively undersized) linemen.

Return Specialist:
RS - Sunny Estrada - Age: 28; Height: 5’9”; Weight: 179lbs - Reserve Tailback
RS - Ronyld Weller - Age: 26; Height: 5’10”; Weight: 198lbs - Reserve Tailback/DB
RS - Jenni Saxton - Age: 27; Height: 5’8”; Weight: 176lbs - Reserve Defensive Back
RS - Robert Heller - Age: 28; Height: 5’11”; Weight: 202lbs - Reserve Tailback

The Drakuri are not well-known for their excellent return game; the most noteworthy thing about these players is their secure hands and relative quickness that will allow them to secure kicks, get some return yardage, and get to the ground before they risk losing the ball. Any of them might see action; Heller's probably the sturdiest of the bunch, so if there's not much room to maneuver (short punts, for instance), he's more likely to be back, while Estrada and Saxton are more likely to take longer kicks. These players might also play on kick coverage teams, as their speed should enable them to run down their opposites on other squads.

Gunner:
GU - Atum Temir - Age: 27; Height: 6’0”; Weight: 230lbs - Reserve Rover
GU - Edwyrd Hastings - Age: 27; Height: 5’11”; Weight: 231lbs - Reserve Rover/Fullback
GU - Trentyn Staal - Age: 27; Height: 6’1”; Weight: 226lbs - Reserve Rover
GU - Sylvester Furstenburg - Age: 29; Height: 5’10”; Weight: 232lbs - Reserve Rover
GU - Olivyr Mueller - Age: 26; Height: 6'0"; Weight: 234lbs - Reserve Rover

While these players all specialize as tacklers, most of them are also reserve rovers and will be in on most special teams plays. They might even play on the hands team in the event of onside kick attempts.

QB,BQ - Quarterback, backup quarterback.

FB,HB,RB - Fullback, halfback, running back. Fullbacks are triple threats (lead blocking, running, catching), halfbacks are double threats (running, catching), running backs are single threats (running). All can perform basic (cut) blocks, of course.

WR,XR,YR,ZR - Wide receiver, X-, Y-, Z-receiver. X-receivers are vertical threats. Y-receivers are YAC artists. Z-receivers are pretty much halfbacks who line up on the line of scrimmage. The WR is a utility position with abilities similar to the X-receiver.

TR,TB - Receiving Tight End, Blocking Tight End. Both can block and catch (or even run end-arounds), but it should be clear who's better at what.

RT,RG,CE,LG,LT,OL - Right tackle, right guard, center, left guard, left tackle, offensive line (utility/backup).

STADIUM
Name: Field of Dreams in The Gardens
Location: New Washington, NAU Zone
Capacity: 87,000

Part of "The Gardens", New Washington's sporting complex, the Field of Dreams marked the debut of the NAU Zone in hosting U3 international competition. The main purpose of the Field of Dreams was to create an atmosphere where chaos lived and upsets can be made, a fact that was backed up in Game 1 with the "Block 6" over Cassadiagua and the "Kick 6" in the rematch a year later. Those plays were further ingrained into the minds of TJUN-ians due to the fact that seats had direct access to the field, allowing the fans to storm it and celebrate with their heroes.

IMPORTANT TRAVEL ADVISORY

This statement has been filed by the Homeland Security Agency and has been granted by King Robert Kruger of the Swine Party and the monarchy. Due to the recent events surrounding the University of Red Rock biological attack, along with one of the attack sites being of proximity to Downtown Pink City Stadium, the government is employing heavy security to both home and away teams in Libegeist. As intrusive as this sounds, this is ensure the safety of the World Bowl football players and visiting audience.

While the nation of Libegeist is currently in a dark time within the region of Greater Dienstad, we still wish to participate in the World Bowl to show our worth and to not disappoint our football fans in the country. The first matches within Libegeist shall be given a moment of silence for the 470 victims that were killed during the attacks.

As a nation, we shall remain strong.

For freedom and liberty.

[Lisander]

Lisander Gridiron Football National Team
The Lynx

Style Mod: +2

Gridiron Football in Lisander is not professional. The more correct term is perhaps “subsidised”. Due to the financial inconstancy of the NAFL (an entity that acts as both Federation and National League), Gridiron Football in Lisander survives mostly on small sponsorships and the pockets of its own players, who are amateurs. Another obstacle to the growth of this sport in Lisander is the unintended, but evident association made with Rugby League, an ever-frowned-upon code in the country, which is kind of devoted to the Rugby Union.

With little money, but a few hundred loyal and dedicated players to the sport at various levels (League, College, Full-pad amateurs, Arena Football, Flag Football, Beach Football). And among these, some benefactors unafraid to spend money on the sport, Gridiron Football keeps developing with the dream of one day reaching World Bowl success. While this dream is not possible, the NAFL seeks to popularise the sport with timid appearances in world stage.

MD10: Lisander 40–17 Abanhfleft

Wild Card: Lisander 26–17 The Golden Harp
Round of 16: Quebec & Shingoryeo 44–23 Lisander

Focused Roster and Team Info:

COACHING TEAM
Eric Jones (67), an expat from the United Federation, keeps at the helm of this team, with Marian Slaviero (45) as its assistant for another season. He is an average coach, but nonetheless, is one of the most experienced.
Turns out the Gridiron Football Community in Lisander isn't still that old, so the years of experience in High School and College Football on its home nation is very welcomed no matter if he never coached a major league team.

Coach	Eric Jones
Assistant	Marian Slaviero

OFFENSE
Lisander offense team currently uses primarily Ace or Shotgun formation, with three receivers. Less usually, Pro Set formation with two receivers is used.

The Looks:

Imgur, meh. I'll fix this ASAP.
Home Uniform, Away Uniform, Away Alternate Uniform (to be worn if needed)

The Lynx wear primarily green jerseys with two gold sleeve stripes, white pants and green socks at home matches. For away matches where the green jersey clashes, the colours are inverted. The Lynx are expected to wear their home uniform in the "home games" against Martian Independent Republic, Zumrudqislaq, Ranoria, Andso Magis and Abanhfleft. Against Saperetia, The Kytler Peninsulae, Tomerion, Cardenao and Katzeburg, Lynx will don their aways. NAFL might put the players on the field with full-white uniforms, or maybe an one-off, color clash uniform, in The Kytler Peninsulae if "The Green Machine" prefers to go all-green.

OOC Notes about Roster and RP Permissions:
I’m not providing an extended roster. I’m focusing in the scorers and going with a roster similar to those we usually see in Fantasy Football. I do this all my american football interations, to save time and because I'm not a deep conoisseur of its mechanics. After some consultation with Drawkland, I have updated the concept of the roster a little, adding a couple of defending players, in case you need to describe your player being sacked or something like that. With that cleared, you’re free to write what you want. I only ask you to keep injuries in “easily recoverable mode”, since I would like to have these players playing for a long time. If you need of some extra info or graphic to complete your post about our game, feel free to drop a TG and I’ll answer as soon as possible. In fact, I'm willing to help my division opponents with developing any graphics, like logos, uniforms, fields or whatever else. After all, that would also be useful to my roleplaying.

[Drawkland]

Jack Hoy's phone buzzed.

Jack slipped the phone out of his pocket and snuck a look at the screen. When he read the name and number, he visibly cringed and quickly flicked the ringer off.

Leo Cross was sitting across the restaurant table from Jack. Even though the rest of the party was focused on someone telling some story from their playing career, Leo noticed the buzz of the phone and the look on Jack's face. If there's something that Jack lacked more than anything, it was subtlety. Leo couldn't remember the last time Jack had received a phone call in his presence, but he knew he'd almost never seen Jack actually read the caller ID before answering, much less put it back in his pocket.

"Who's that?" Leo jutted his chin at Jack, referring to the phone that had just been silenced.

"Uh, nobody. Spam call, I think." Jack shook his head, turning his head to pretend he was still listening to the anecdote at the other end of the table.

"Jack, I've seen you talk to a scam caller for 45 minutes because you thought it would be funny." Leo narrowed his eyes. "And I've never seen you put on a stank face like that for an incoming call."

"Oh, did I make that face out loud?" Jack grimaced, still refusing to make eye contact with Leo.

Leo knew he didn't need to say anything else. He folded his arms, leaned back in his chair, and continued staring directly at Jack.

After a few uncomfortable seconds, Jack's eyes flicked back over to Leo. He sighed, slumping a bit at the table. "I can't talk about this now. Not at the Grid Corps veteran luncheon."

"Too embarrassing for the champions lunch?" Leo tilted his head curiously. "Dude, not ten minutes ago you were eagerly telling a story that ended in you getting rejected by three women, losing your wallet, and walking 10 miles back to your hotel. Since when have you cared about embarrassing yourself?"

"Ehh," Jack just flicked his hand dismissively at Leo. "Not important."

"Uh huh." Leo wanted to say more, but the conversation suddenly shifted back into smaller groups. Dustin Beck, who was sitting next to Jack, turned to the pair and started talking about some totally interesting thing that happened to him at work the other day.

It seemed the Jack had escaped Leo's interrogation, at least for the near future. Even though he'd gradually become more social, Leo was still rather reclusive and didn't like to interrupt or steer conversation away. Plus, there was no way Jack would spill these weirdly secretive beans with a larger audience. Fortunately for Leo, opportunity presented itself in an unexpected manner.

"Oh hey, did you guys hear about that soccer player that got pregnant?" Dustin said after a lull in conversation. "One of the national teamers that you guys know, I think. Can't remember the gal's name."

Jack unconsciously stiffened. Leo's eyes flashed at the movement. It was tiny, imperceptible, but over the last few years Leo had noticed he was starting to notice muscular impulses in the people around him. Almost like how a predator animal could see tendons tighten and move in their prey the instant it happens, allowing them to anticipate their movements. Leo didn't like thinking of it in that way, but it was the closest explanation that made sense.

"Oh yeah," Leo nodded. Everything clicked in his mind immediately. "I read an article about it. Sarah Arrowsword is who you're thinking of."

"That's the name." Dustin snapped and pointed at Leo appreciatively. "I think I heard something about her being single, or at least not in a relationship. Think you know who the father is?"

"Mm, I've got some theories." Leo looked from Dustin to Jack as casually as he could manage. "Listen, just because we're immortal doesn't mean we automatically get all the immortal gossip."

"And here I thought you'd be able to give me Iarocav's debit card PIN next," Dustin threw a hand up in mock frustration, chuckling as he did. It seems he only brought it up to fill the conversational gap, because another thought occurred to him and he kept yapping.

Dustin didn't seem to notice how Jack kept quiet the entire exchange. Leo did, though. It's not often Jack would pass up an opportunity to wisecrack. If he had any doubt in his head who was responsible for this, that had just quelled it. Jack briefly looked back to Leo, and Leo made sure his wordless look was obvious. This isn't over.

---

An hour later, both Jack and Leo were boarding Jack's magway car on the second level of the restaurant/hotel where they'd had lunch. The collection of former longtime Grid Corps players were going their separate ways now that the main get-together had concluded. A few of them, Jack and Leo included, had plans for the evening elsewhere in Metropolon. For now, there were a couple hours to kill, so Jack and Leo had already decided to reload at Jack's apartment. Even though Jack was now spending most of his days in Hoima, Banija, he kept his Metropolon apartment for when he was back Drawkside. He'd bought the penthouse unit outright, so it's not like he was burning money monthly on the place.

Jack was the one who made the plan originally. He usually let Leo crash at his place when he was staying more than a night, which was normally a great idea. Now that he was about to get interrogated with no possible escape, that plan felt like a total bonehead move.

"So." Leo said once the two had sat down and the autodrive kicked in to route the floating car to its destination. He turned to look at Jack in the seat across him. "You knocked up Sarah Arrowsword? Sarah Arrowsword?"

"Okay, okay, LISTEN!" Jack exploded immediately. "We don't KNOW that it was me. She's single. She's a hot athlete. She's a millionaire. She probably has all sorts of dudes that she spends time with."

"Weirdly defensive response for a guy who's apparently not involved."

"Am I wrong?" Jack replied, almost pleadingly. "I mean, she hasn't even called me yet. You figure she would've called the father the moment she found out. Right? Right??"

"You know her better than I do. Much better, in fact." Leo folded his arms. He couldn't help but let a smirk creep onto his face. "Also she literally did call you. During the luncheon, right?"

"Well ..." Jack chewed on the inside of his cheek. "That's still not a confirmation of anything! Maybe it was unrelated. Maybe she was calling to tell me that now she's going steady with the father and that I'm cut out of the loop. Surely she would've called me earlier than now if it was me."

"Perhaps she was waiting for you to figure it out and call her first." Leo cocked a brow. "Show some responsibility for once in your life."

"Fuck." Jack's hands nervously drummed rapid fire on his thighs as his car continued weaving through the automated airways floating above Metropolon's streets. "Okay, you might be right. But that would mean I'm in even more trouble. I don't know how to deal with ... this kind of stuff. That's half the reason I've stayed away from girls for most of my career."

"Like you had a choice."

"Not helping, Leo!" Jack groaned, putting his head in his hands before sliding them dramatically sliding his fingers down his face. "Man. Maybe I should ask Proudfoot for advice. He deals with this shit all the time, right?"

"I think Lane Proudfoot is the absolute last person you should ask for advice in this scenario." It was Leo's turn to facepalm. "Why don't you start with actually calling Sarah back and talking it out? At least you can get some insight into how she's feeling, and how she wants to approach this situation."

"Well that's just the problem. I want to be the one with the plan." Jack sighed. It seemed like he was really agonizing over this. Once again, it was rare to see Jack in a nervous state like this. "That's part of the reason that I didn't reach out to her first. Besides the fact that I wasn't sure it was me. But like, the dad is supposed to be the responsible one. The provider and stuff? Well I wanted to show that I could be that, to help put her at ease. But I don't know how to do that. So I ended up procrastinating and here we are."

"I'm sure she mostly wants reassurance that you're not going to avoid her and the kid. Sort of the opposite of what you're doing now."

"Dammit!" Jack groaned again. "You're right. Man. I mean, I need to show that I'm all-in. I want to be all-in. It's half my doing, after all. Do you think I should propose to her? Like that'll probably-"

"Divine above, dude, no!" Leo interrupted. "That's not going to help anything. Certainly not right now."

"I dunno, it would show my dedication, right? Maybe it could just be until the kid grows up."

"Jack, if she was actually interested in pursuing a relationship with you, she probably would've tried to make things official over the last 3 or 4 years of you guys banging. I don't think jumping to marriage is the right move."

"Oh. Yeah." Jack paused to absorb the information, then reluctantly agreed. "Okay, so I guess I call her. But I still feel like I need a plan for it."

"You could start by admitting responsibility for this happening in the first place." A memory had resurfaced in Leo's brain. "I seem to recall a conversation a few years ago about relations between immortals and how kids end up happening."

"Right ..." Jack cringed. He knew exactly what Leo was thinking about: it was a discussion with them and Lerocav, the immortal son of Iarocav, at a previous edition of the summer Olympiad. Jack might have internalized an unfortunate piece of information. "I guess I can start there."

"Accountability, right off the bat." Leo nodded. "If you're genuine, I'm sure she'll understand."

"Okay. Okay. I think I can handle this." Jack gave a slow exhale.

"So ... perhaps call her while we're getting changed at your place?" Leo suggested, leaning forward to get a closer look through the windshield. They were rapidly approaching Jack's apartment.

"Are you fucking insane? Hell no." Jack shook his head vigorously. "I'm not ready at all. Also I'm not doing that in front of you. This is personal."

"I'm sure Sarah will appreciate your first phone call coming right around when she goes into labor."

"I'm gonna handle it! I swear!

Straton, Straton
People's Party Headquarters
30 Latimer Avenue

"You know they're all going to show the exact same bloody exit poll, right. Aurora, NBS, TBC. They all do it together now." The smell of cigarette smoke was heavy in one of the rooms of the centre-right People's Party headquarters. It was far from glamorous in the warm, sweaty back room, with TV cameras currently focused on the pleasant, if subdued, atmosphere out front at the party reception. But this was where situations were monitored, this was where the all-seeing eye of the campaign was, and on occasion this was where decisions were made. Several people were huddled in the room, filled with monitors, filing trays, printers, cups of all kinds, and stationery. For all the talk of the digital age and the future, things were still remarkably physical sometimes on the campaign trail.

"It's not about the bloody exit poll, it's about seeing what those idiots will or won't say on TV," came the gruff reply from the man who was sat on a chair, hunched over, and who seemed to be looking at three monitors at once. This was Nick Brewer, the federal campaign manager; for the past five weeks he'd been operating on approximately four hours of sleep a night, and had a temper to match. "There's only so much coaching you can give the bloody idiots." It was tradition for each major party to send a Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet member to be grilled by the interviewers on the three major TV networks; over the years, Brewer had slowly risen from coaching individual ministers on what to say to overseeing the entire operation. This time, they'd sent Ian Rotherham, Shadow Health Minister, to the TBC; Richard Fairfield, the Shadow Agriculture Minister, to the NBS, and to Aurora — the network for the discerning centre-right viewer — they'd sent Damien Stafford, the Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"Fuckin' look at Fairfield, he's sweating. Don't they have airconditioning over there at the NBS? He looks like a pig next to that-what's his name, fuckin' Billy Redford or whatever. Sweating like a pig. When he comes down later make sure he takes a fucking shower before he goes back out to talk to anyone."

"Sure," came the response from an aide, who knew better than to get a word in lengthwise whenever Brewer went on one of his rants. A cigarette was offered to Brewer; it was taken, and when he had it in his mouth a match was held close to it. "Smoked more in the past five weeks than I have in the last ten years," he said as the first puff of smoke escaped his mouth. "Cal, get me whatever printouts you can of the exit poll when you can. Key focus. Southwest, Marlsbruhe, Grantfeldt, Georgia, Marcato."

"Can do."

The space was male-dominated, not entirely by coincidence. Brewer's people, or the Machine, as the party had come to know them by, had largely self-selected for people who could take the long hours, brusque rants from the campaign machine, and occasionally dish out some of their own to misbehaving politicians who'd said or done things they otherwise shouldn't have had. The party were on a two-election losing streak, and Brewer was determined to see that streak come to a close, but privately he knew that he'd be handing in his letter of resignation sooner rather than later. It'd been a strong campaign, but not enough in the key seats they needed; and to make matters worse, unless all the polls were wrong, the crossbenches would likely stubbornly hold on to the seats that the party needed on their road to secure power.

"It's go time," came a shout from the other side of the cramped room. The room went quiet. On the monitor showing the TBC coverage, Paul Blake showed the exit poll with all his flourish.

"And here we are; Tumbra, the polls have closed, and here is your exit poll."

Silence. Then it was broken by a four-letter word from Nick; then a series of other four-letter words as the other broadcasters, exactly as had been mentioned earlier, showed the exact same exit poll. If the exit poll was right, even if the Labour government had been forced to eat humble pie with the loss of their majority, the once-proud People's Party now faced the prospect of a decade in the wilderness. The room watched in silence as Rotherham on the TBC acquitted himself well, praising the campaign; Stafford, ever the smooth political operator, turned the tables on his Labour interview partner, while Fairfield...

"What the fuck is he saying," mouthed two aides to each other, one of whom had sat down next to Nick. Keegan, for his part, could feel the temperature rising in Nick's cheeks. It said a lot that Nick changed the audio channel over to the NBS feed, where Fairfield had been stuttering his way through his reaction to the exit poll. To make things worse, this was the very outcome he had been coached to react to.

"Knew I should have sent one of the Jews," Nick muttered darkly as he looked at the NBS feed. "Bernard, Dean, Daniel, all of them would have done better than this blithering! Fucking! Gobshite!" His tone rose to a crescendo at the end of the sentence, and he took another puff of the cigarette to calm himself down. "Whatever. Get him out of there as soon as possible, get Daniel on there —"

"Daniel's in Hesham," came another voice, a sharp interruption, as if trying to snap Nick out of his anger. "It'll be a few hours."

"Then beam him in on fuckin' satnav or something until we can find someone," came the equally sharp response. "Christine? Is she near Straton?"

"No, she's out in the boonies because you sent her there." Christine Schofield, the party's deputy leader and presumptive next leader if Alexander Morrison, the current Leader of the Opposition, had been despatched to the Southwest in order to try to stem the bleeding the party had been suffering there. The party had long been strong there, but that support had apparently been taken for granted; internally, Brewer's team referred to it as the boonies.

"Fuck. Fuck," Nick said. 'Whatever. Tell Daniel he's to be in Straton as soon as humanly possible. Tell the NBS that Fairfield needs to go to his count sooner than expected for some fucking reason. Whatever you can fucking come up with. Get him out of that studio, he's making us all look like idiots, Keegan, get a car to the NBS studios now, then bring him back here so I can have a fuckin' word with him." A flurry of activity followed; the leader had given his command, and the men were to follow.

A piece of paper was hurriedly pressed into Nick's hands. On it was a list of seats that were due to change hands according to the exit poll; eleven losses were to be counterbalanced by twenty gains, for the net gain of nine seats the exit poll had given them.

"Get me Alexander, now, and make sure Sean has a copy to show him," Nick said, palming the paper off to another aide as he prepared for a phone call with the Leader of the Opposition.

It was to be a long, long night.

[Nortallius]

The Allied States of Nortallius will participate in the World Bowl for the fist time ever. The national team's roster is made up of pro football players from the NNFA (Nortallius National Football Association). The NNFA has been a househould name in Nortallius for a long time , but only until recently have the Allied States competed on the international stage.
Stadium
Home games for Nortallius will be held at Ulysses Gillespie Memorial Stadium (capacity 92,000), commonly known as "The Winter Bowl" and "Lakeside Stadium" and recently as "The U" or UGM, two miles north of downtown Cliffside. The imposing brick structure whose exterior is somewhat reminiscent of both the Beaux-Arts and Art Deco architectures styles is one of the largest, oldest, and most storied venues of the NNFA and Nortallusian college football. The stadium is open air and due to the nature of climate in the Inland Lakes, is always susceptible to lake effect snow this time of year. Teams probably want to prepare accordingly.

[Chromatika]

Chromatika Gridiron Football Team

Nickname: The Iron Legion
Head Coach: Misha Florentine, 56
Offensive Coordinator: Naia Curentino, 49
Defensive Coordinator: Kasen Harrowitz, 56
Special Teams Coordinator: Niles Crescent, 58
World Rank: 7
Style Modifier: -3
Home Stadium: Henza Center, D'rea, Capital District, Chromatika (Cap. 66,530)

OFFENSE
Offensive Coordinator: Naia Curentino, Mountain District University Firehawks
Offensive Philosophy: The Chromatik Iron Legion employs a possession-based philosophy, utilizing two backs, two receivers, and a tight end in an attempt to string together long drives that eat up a lot of the clock. They work best with play-action, but know how to take bite-sized chunks.
Players: - Starters in Italics

Quarterbacks - 3
#19 - Anne-Maurice Vivayavich - 31 years old - Hoima Zebra (Banija). 6 ft 1 in. A hyper-accurate thrower of the ball who compensates for the lack of mobility with an analytical mind and a very quick release coupled with a computer-like ability to read the defense. The heir apparent to Gwenderyn, whenever she chooses to retire. Became second string last World Bowl when Gwenderyn faced injury. (University of Loyola-Istria graduate)
#08 - Viktor Rowles - 27 years old - Duntho Oilers (Banija). 6 ft 1 in. A gunslinger through and through, Rowles isn't scared of taking the risk, trusting in his accuracy and reading of the flow of the game to make up for the lack of mobility. Very calm under pressure. (Cold Hill University graduate)
#15 - Isaiah Hunter - 28 years old - Sierraville Farmers (Ranoria). 6 ft 1 in. Solid arm talent, bookish, reserved, and playing well above how he's been advertised in the past, Hunter is the one to keep the pressure on Rowles to be the team's backup as the Iron Legion navigates life after Gwenderyn. (Richardson University graduate)

Backs - 4
#38 - Benjamin Merik - 28 years old - Ranoria City Silver (Ranoria). 6 ft 4 inches. A bulldozing beast of a physical back that runs through tackles with ease. (Richardson University graduate)
#26 - Anne Holmes - 27 years old - Chromia Cyan (Chromatika). 6 ft 1 inch. Blazing fast, every-down back. Decent in pass blocking. (Mountain District University graduate)
#28 - Cyrus Ebincott - 27 years old - Staramara Angels (Chromatika). 6 ft 3 inches. A receiving back first and foremost, he's light on his feet and shifty. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#22 - Darrell "The Ball" Jackson - 27 years old - Igulu Bush Elephants (Banija). 6 ft 7 inches. Short-yardage specialist, almost impossible to bring down by one defender. (University of Loyola-Istria graduate)

Just missing out: Briana Heavenworth (Aissa Crocodiles)

Receivers - 5
#81 - Demitrius St. Pierre - 32 years old - Berlin Snow Bears (Ranoria). 6 ft 4 inches. A jack of all trades who makes plays at almost any position on the field. Also the team's best Slot Receiver. (Raynor University Graduate).
#80 - Constantina Perrier – 32 years old - Ranoria City Falcons (Ranoria). 6 ft 5 inches. A big-bodied freelancer at wideout who can generate yards after the catch, Perrier excels at finding holes in coverage. (Richardson University graduate)
#82 - Enox Silverman - 27 years old - Ranoria City Falcons (Ranoria). 6 ft 7 inches. A possession-based receiver who can really show up in big matches. (Cold Hill University graduate)
#84 - Vince Cartier - 30 years old - Jinja City Springboks (Banija). 6 ft 2 inches. A deep threat who loves to separate from the opposition. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#83 - Earl Silverman - 25 years old - Ranoria City Falcons (Ranoria). 6 ft 5 inches. Crisp route-runner with sure hands and the team's returner on special teams. (Cold Hill University graduate)

Just missing out: Jacqueline Fofo, Jacoby Grinner

Tight Ends - 2
#97 - Ulrich Jefferson - 29 years old - Chromia Cyan (Chromatika). 6 ft 8 inches. More of a pure receiver than a blocker. Allows Chromatika to use two-Tight End sets more often. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#88 - Jen Hallow - 26 years old - Staramara Angels (Chromatika). 6 ft 7 inches. A do-it-all tight end with the ability to both block and catch the ball, best used on this team to block-and-release. (Felswyr State University graduate)

Offensive Tackles - 4
#74 - Heinrik St. Joseph - 25 years old - Hoima Zebra (Banija). 6 ft 8 inches. Large and in charge, very quick off the ball and knows how to get into position. (University of Loyola-Istria graduate)
#79 - Pietr Sandoff - 26 years old - Staramara Angels (Chromatika). 6 ft 11 inches. Great passing blocker who can take on most edge rushers. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#72 - Riekr Mundt - 27 years old - Knetyohai Icebreakers (Chromatika). 6 ft 8 inches. Bulldozer, mauler, aggressive blocker who loves to pull ahead. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#77 - Pine Rhucks - 24 years old - Chromia Cyan (Chromatika). 6 ft 2 inches. Balanced, quick, and strong, can slot in either side. (Mountain District University graduate)

Offensive Guards - 4
#68 - Ryan Iskendor - 27 years old - Duntho Oilers (Banija). 6 ft 7 inches. Run-blocking specialist. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#62 - Lyles Dwantele-Joines - 25 years old - Igulu Bush Elephants (Banija). 6 ft 5 inches. Balanced, immovable, cerebral. Three-time CCGC first team whose poise is unmistakable. (University of Myana graduate)
#60 - Arley Barrier - 29 years old - Mynda Gorillas (Banija). 6 ft 7 inches. Mauler, strong, loves to clear the way for the running back. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#64 - Perry Rend - 27 years old - Bunyoro RSC (Banija). 6 ft 5 inches. Quick, handsy, sturdy and not easily shaken - very much needed for the position. (Staramara Tech University graduate)

Centers - 3
#66 - Markus Xanneret – 32 years old - Memphis Steamers (Ranoria). 6 ft 1 inches. Physical, consistent, and rather good at hand-fighting, Xanneret knows how to pass protect. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#63 - Park Si-U – 32 years old - Madison Gladiators (Ranoria). 6 ft 7 inches. The team’s best center in terms of run blocking, as well as the best center for special teams play. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#67 - Liam Hossam - 29 years old - Hoima Zebra (Banija). 6 ft 3 inches. Imposing, quick, and a runner, Hossam's shiftiness is stellar for a lineman.

Just missing out: Ollie Justinian (Duntho Oilers)

DEFENSE
Defensive Coordinator: Kasen Harrowitz, Richardson University
Assistant Coordinator: Laverna Getz, Staramara Tech University
Defensive Philosophy: The Iron Legion uses a Base 3-4, with pressing safeties that rely on cornerbacks to play on an island. It is those cornerbacks that will determine if the team succeeds. Chromatika is strong against the run and the long pass, but can be bested by intermediate or short passes. The majority of the players come from the NSCF ranks.
Players: Starters in Italics

Defensive Ends - 4
#93 - Kang Joseph - 27 years old - Sisonke Leopards (Banija). 6 ft 3 inches. Clutch, fast, and very violent, Joseph knows what it's like to be the only one who can get to the Quarterback. Hopefully, that won't be the case on this squad. (Northern Moravica University graduate)
#90 - Kira Jones - 29 years old - Kosactus Red Vultures (Banija). 6 ft 8 inches. Unleashed, physical, quarterback's nightmare. Jones has her eyes set on the backfield on every single play. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#58 - Aubin Rouzet - 32 years old – Duntho Oilers (Banija). 6 ft 4 inches. A driven pass-rusher who can also drop back into coverage if the situation warrants it. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#50 - Mykhajlo Vyacheslavovych Kozlov – 34 years old – Sisonke Leopards (Banija). 6 ft 5 inches. Speed all day, every day. Chasing down Quarterbacks and ballcarriers alike. Pure adrenaline. (Staramara Tech University graduate)

Just missing out: Miyata Izanagi, Lee Bo-Mi, Paul Eberron

Defensive Tackles - 3
#65 – Josiah Michaels – 31 years old - Staramara Angels (Chromatika). 6 ft 7 inches. A true student of the game with a unique blend of speed, power, and size. (Northern Moravica University graduate)
#61 - Bryan Hilbrand - 29 years old - Hoima Zebra (Banija). 6 ft 3 inches. Frantic, twitchy, and wise, Hilbrand's proven time and time again that he can take over from the DT spot - not easily contained by one blocker. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#69 - Tano Yuu - 26 years old - Knetyohai Icebreakers (Chromatika). 6 ft 8 inches. Immovable object that takes up a lot of space, surprisingly quick for his size. (Staramara Tech University graduate)

Just missing out: Wilhelm Cygnus

Outside Linebackers - 4
#41 - Edith St. Clair – 32 years old – St. Jakob Honey Badgers (Banija). 6 ft 6 inches. A blitzing linebacker through and through, not very good in coverage. (Ratzupalfu University of Nature graduate)
#54 – Nicole Manstrom - 33 years old – Ranoria City Silver (Ranoria). 6 ft 1 inches. A lightning-fast blitzing specialist who makes her life hitting the backfield hard. (Felswyr State University graduate)
#49 - Ingrid Botrel – 30 years old – Lwanga Rhinos (Banija). 6 ft 3 inches. A pure cover linebacker who can cover almost anyone in the flat. (Northern Moravica University Graduate)
#44 - Freya Odinsdóttir - 23 years old - Aissa Crocodiles (Banija). 6 ft 3 inches. One of the most instinctive linebackers in Chromatik history, with the speed to close with anyone, sure tackling skills, and a nose for the ball. (Mountain District University graduate)

Just missing out: Rila Kevex, Asmodel Propleier, Frieda Seyfried, Isabelle Rancor, Carmen Dior (Busukuma Suns)

Inside Linebackers - 4
#59 - Mi-Hyeon Park - 35 years old - Ranoria City Falcons (Ranoria). 6 ft 6 inches. Dictates the defense. Tackling machine. Decent coverage linebacker. Defensive Captain. (Felswyr State University graduate)

#56 - Kang In-Yeung – 31 years old - Hoima Zebra (Banija). 6 ft 1 inches. Very good at disguising intent at the line of scrimmage, and she can handle both blitzing and going into coverage. (Northern Moravica University graduate)
#52 - Nellie Griffin – 30 years old - Chromia Cyan (Chromatika). 6 ft 2 inches. Freakishly athletic and daring, Griffin can take over games. (Ratzupalfu University of Nature graduate)

Just missing out: Kerron Nicholas, Irina Jones, Britney Hines

Strong Safeties - 3
#31 - Do-Hyuk Kim – 30 years old - Istria Black Mambas (Banija). 6 ft 2 inches. Loves to play through contact, can also play Free Safety. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#37 - Rayisa Leonidivna Andrushchenko - 28 years old - Mar Sara Night Elves (Valanora). 6 ft 8 inches. A run-stuffing safety who acts as an extra linebacker or a blitzer, but struggles with shifty receivers/tight ends. (Staramara Tech University graduate)
#33 - Saya Okayato - 27 years old - Jinja City Springboks (Banija). 6 ft 5 inches. Jack of all trades, Okayato can do everything the position needs - provided she stays healthy. (Felswyr State University graduate)

Just missing out: Kim Su-Bin

Free Safeties - 3

KATZEBURGIAN NATIONAL GRIDIRON TEAM

The Wildcats

Style Modifier = -5

The Katzeburgian national gridiron team is a team which is slowly but surely growing a profile on the multiversal stage. The national team made its debut in World Bowl 49 with a squad entirely plucked from University of Aberstadt players who happened to show up to national team tryouts on the day and performed about as well as you could expect a gaggle of young athletes without a clue were expected to perform - picking up three wins on their way to a group stage exit.

But the team would not give up so easily, coming back for the 50th edition of the World Bowl with additions from UoA rivals Aberstadt State University - but this marriage would be a rocky one not much better than the average marriage into the Wolsten family in the hit West Katzeburgian drama Paint Drying; with players split between UoA and Aberstadt State University backgrounds, the team failed to gel and instead saw a back and forth appearance where the side lost their opening four games to eventually recover to an alright 6-8 return, their best appearance in the World Bowl to date.

Not to be deterred however, the side would come back for their third bite at the cherry in World Bowl 51 - where to the nation's credit, they had their best run to date at the event; collecting a 7-6 record to end their campaign with a winning record for the first time in their history, despite crashing out in the divisional stage once more.

Unfortunately, it means very little of the sports-mad nation of Katzeburg actually cares about the national side, with their exploits overshadowed by the far more successful football and chess teams. But the tide may be turning at long last.

Somehow, the national team exited the World Bowl as the defending Golden Bowl holders meaning they already have something to lose as they take to the field, but the growth in the profile of the sport in Katzeburg - spurred on by alright performances at the NSCF level through UoA and ASU - means things might slowly be changing for the country on the big stage, and so they enter the 52nd edition of the World Bowl with a renewed sense of excitement that will no doubt be beaten out of them by an unranked nation.

There's just one slight hitch - exactly because of the growth of the game at the college level, both UoA and ASU are more reluctant than ever before to release players for the national team, which they had done in the previous three editions. It now means the national team has had to be cobbled together from recent graduates and the greatest hits of World Bowl players of the past - lopsiding the squad and forcing head coach Cameron Sydney to rethink just how the side will take to the field.

It's only taken three editions of the World Bowl, but Sydney has finally leant into the strengths of the Katzeburgian style of football - a defence-heavy, sicko-style football which looks to keep yards lost low and field goals scored high. Punting and kicking are where the team truly excels, while a consistent defensive setup built off the successful playbook of the UoA Ducks aims to irritate the opposition into making easy mistakes crucial to their overall game plan and put the offensive unit in the best possible position for quick scores and easy points.

It’s a plan which saw the Wildcats grind down their opponents and keep the average game relatively low-scoring in the past - barring some absolute blow-outs against top teams in the multiverse - but with an offense slowly growing in confidence to actually, you know, score points (and buoyed by players actually getting high-quality playing time at the NSCF level), Katzeburg will be less of the cosmos-raising pain in the backside to watch - but many travelling supporters to games may find themselves less forced to drink heavily as a way to avoid watching what unfolds on the field in front of them than in previous World Bowls - but don't go expecting the Wildcats to suddenly become championship contenders.

Home Grounds
Seecester Stadium - Seecester, Aberstadt (Capacity - 20,000)
The new shining jewel in Katzeburgian gridiron, the home ground of the University of Aberstadt Ducks will be the showpiece ground for this World Bowl's home games. Fans will be treated to scenic views of Lake Aber should the football be too unbearable to watch, with nearby access to a growing commercial district opposite the road packed with restaurants (including Katzeburg's most popular fast food place in the east, BrautBox) and bars for supporters to cram into ahead of the game kicking off. Make sure to pack a jacket though, as when temperature drops across the lake, it can produce some freezing winter winds.

Aberstadt Stadium - Abersee, Aberstadt (Capacity - 7,500)
The previous core home ground of Katzeburgian gridiron, the home field of fellow NSCF program Aberstadt State University will also receive some home games as part of this edition's World Bowl, but their lower capacity means these games will be against two unranked sides. But don't let the small capacity fool you - the ground is tight in its atmosphere, with the stands stretching right up to the edge of the field, allowing teams only a few metres of space to sit alongside. Expect passing plays and runs to be made centrally here - as there's little margin for error out on the wings lest you fall head-first into the roaring crowd.

The Katzeburgian Away Strip

Team set-up

Under offensive coordinator Andie Weeber, Katzeburg plays a run-heavy game utilising the smashmouth offensive scheme, aiming to annoy the opposition defence into giving up ground through tiny but consistent running plays. This more often than not results in the side opting to punt and punt long after their attacking downs - with many drives in previous games resulting in nothing more than a few yard gained.

Defensively, they play a more traditional 4-3 defensive scheme under Jayme Bean which aims to grind the opposition down - how successful this may be is another question entirely however, as while the structure does work against some top quality sides, it also leads to significant gains from opponents who knew how to do even the most basic counter set-up.

But Katzeburg’s speciality is in their kickers - the side aims to utilise kicking wherever possible and will happily look for a field goal rather than play a risky passing play. As a result, their kickers can cover significant distances, allowing the Wildcats some often much needed breathing room.

All-Time Record - 16-20-0
Biggest Win - Katzeburg 56-3 Terefuxe, World Bowl 49 East Division
Biggest Loss - Valanora 61-7 Katzeburg, World Bowl 51 Outbox Conference
Best WB Performance - 5th in Division, World Bowl 50

Roster

Those looking to perverse themselves by watching Katzeburgian football should keep an eye out for a handful of star players (see: players who have a better idea of what they are supposed to do than the average player), with the majority of the most recognisable and quality players coming out of the UoA NSCF side of last season.

The Katzeburgian offence will be built around young quarterback Rain Sams, who helped guide the Ducks to a winning season at the NSCF level last season; a key proponent of the quick pass, Sams will be able to get attacks started swiftly and hope to capitalise on slow-moving defences to gain easy yardage. He'll be joined by a fellow UoA alum in wide receiver Storm Chester, who has been an ever-present of the Katzeburg team at World Bowls gone by. With some explosive pace and a strength in carrying the ball, Chester can cause real issues for sides once he gets motoring, so a team's best option is to stop him and stop him early.

Defensively, fans should watch out for former Celestia Defensive Player of the Season Maurie Troy, with the linebacker a huge part of the Ducks' defensive successes last season at the NSCF level. While a bit slow off the mark, Troy can be one of the hardest hitters you'll face on the field, and has been known to power through a few players on his way to a target during some plays.

But some of the biggest names on the roster are that of the kickers, and star Katzeburgian kicker Kirk Graham returns to the squad for his fourth World Bowl campaign. With a thunderous kick, Graham has the ability to keep the side in field goal range long after most teams would have packed it in - meaning special teams will need to be quick to the snap to try and shut down the angles on which Graham could convert from.

Minor note: The Bubonic Plague
God, not them. The infamous ultras of the Quebecois national teams in various sports have made their names known for their love of indulgences, festivities and most importantly causing chaos and fury wherever they go. Armed with pyrotechnics, torches and of course the hand-held flares, they are famous for their fluorescent banners that are either used to intimidate visiting sides or to humiliate the Grim Reapers for poor performance. Armed with drums, vuvuzelas and musical instruments on top, the sound of the buzzing fans are often a challenge for anybody - both home and away - to play, and while the Bubonic Plague has remained mostly apolitical outside of its usual nationalistic dose, their penchant to end up on various events better that are belonged to current affairs.

Of course, this time they have taken refuge in the arms of familiar faces, by none other than former Champions League-winning footballer, PlayToy mogul and of course, Farfadillis-war-winning warlord, Marco Hertel. Partnering up with an unexpected ally, who has been enjoying semi-retirement in Delaclava with his mercenary group of 40,000 named Marco's Slaves, wasn't what they had in mind. No sane group would consider it unless for a good reason after all!

Fortunately, it did come with a major concession in none other than a major home complex, where the hardcore, dedicated fans of the Reapers are able to have a blast in the gigantic spaceship and its surrounding structures. Whether this will help or harm the performances for them Reapers, who will be staying over in two of the spaceship's floors, will be determined.

After an excellent, third-place finish at the last World Bowl, this extremely-aggressive offence does return majority of its starters though there are some changes being exhibited on the inside.

At age 34, Benoit Youngblood might be on his last or second-last cycle as the starting quarterback for this Reapers team that's relied a lot on his command of offence. While he's not announced his NT retirement timeline yet, his openness towards walking off on right time as opposed to unnecessarily prolonging his career for posterity has come to suggest plenty that yes, they do have to prepare for life after the Benolution. With this in mind an open audition is being held on the backup spot with Ludovic Hwang-Decarie, former Bonneville State's southpaw sensation who has managed to not die while playing for Raiders, and Loyola-Istria superstar Leslie Allin. Most speculate Allin to win out in the end, especially on a system that holds de facto ban on dual-threats to their depth chart, though the public seems to agree that Hwang-Decarie has a higher performance peak when asked to, giving enough intrigue to the race unlike with Benoit's quiet acclamation for World Bowl 49.

What's particularly encouraging in the wake of these incoming uncertainties is that the Reapers seem to not come up short on the offensive options available. Hugo-Wojcech Son-Saka, Kieran Kweon-McNair and Horace Horton are world-class receiving options their own with each their strengths in Horton's TE-HB versatility (we call that slotbacks in northwestern Arrosia), Kweon-McNair's range and Son-Saka's speed and explosiveness working well. The three-headed dragons, who are joined by Saguenay sensation Nihat Cokcu, should give Youngblood and his backups ready-made options for when there needs to be push.

On the other spots they aren't as foolproof. Ryu Seong-Weon is still a shifty gainer of running back but Liam-Emerson Sauvageau's a step slower than he was after losing half a season due to MCL injury in his season back from WB-51. Even as a bulkier bellcow, this might be the final season for at least the latter, suggesting the need to possibly hand some carries to Maurice Muganda or even Horton, who would be available as an emergency backup. Also questionable is the offensive line, where Marwin Finlayson is the only standout on what's otherwise a functional group. It's not that the unit doesn't perform well - it does - but it lacks the star pancake factor we've seen from them in past on the left side that suggest perhaps need for greater turnover (and hopefully development) in coming cycles.

This Team Quebec defence, which continues to be as aggressive as it could be, is undergoing an interesting transition period as personnel turnovers force challenges to be placed on what's still a convincing squad. Retirements and omissions in particular have forced a slightly different outlook on the nose tackle spot as Eden Park's retirement left a gigantic hole in the middle that's going to be hard to replace with a three-man rotation. Martin Boulerice's passable but not excellent, Jeronimo Gallant-Seon replacement level and athletic specimen Carrickson Rouse-Juruni, though touted to be a future starter by this time two years from now, is a high school senior.

This team's strengths still come from its outstanding ability to rush the ball, with Frederick Benn-Kocian's final World Bowl compounded brilliantly by defensive captain Everson Wright III and Richardson's finest two-way sensation Vincent Hwang-Dalbec on the outside. Also worth a praise is the four-man demolition unit that is their linebackers corp that also feature underrated inside linebackers Raymond-Luca Wanaudi and Corey Waterman. Waterman's the shifty, fourth man of the unit whose coverage area is the strength, while Wanaudi's instinct for the game and the scheme is why he might be most irreplaceable linebacker on this team.

Defensive backfield remains mostly the same - Manny Ugarte's interception:ejection rate remains a comfortable 2:1, meaning that he's being great in two things - interceptions and asserting dominance over his opponents. William Brodeur-Kiser is more measured, all-commanding strong safety who hits hard. While he's not the most athletic of a safety, that's not what Errol Cernugel Jr. is looking for - execution matters the most at the end of the day. Him and Edouard Joh-Waabshkii’ogi are veterans at holding the fort and helping the corners and linebackers out where necessary.

Team Culture: The Banijans are also well known to be physical, and yet clean, players. While they usually are fairly clean(definitely commit penalties but nothing outwardly dirty, like intentionally injuring players or something), Banijan gridiron culture is extremely proud, and therefore, Banijans are elite smack talkers. They'll talk smack, they'll taunt both opponents and opposing fans, and they'll run up the score, if they are capable. They have a play without fear mentality, and a play to the end mentality- lots of these dudes, stars in their own right, biggest challenge is integrating into a team where they are not at the center. Another challenge, of course, is that both collegiate and professional gridiron rivalries run deep- which can make coming together at the national team level much more difficult in this sport, than it is for Banijan athletes in other sports.

Those challenges can make success difficult at the national team level, as many believe Thomas Hall has 'the toughest job in all of gridiron', to ensure that everybody buys into the common goal, and forgets about themselves as individuals to ensure that they can indeed make this sum greater than the whole of its parts. They've won two titles now- and reeling this team in is going to be the coach's biggest challenge. That said- he's clearly instilled a championship culture in the squad, and we've all seen the ridiculous amounts of success they've had under the Ranorian.

This is a team that expects to win every single game they play- with respect for their opponents, of course- and would never consider themselves an underdog. The 4 tournament run from WB 44-47(2 world titles, 3 Final appearances, and even 15 wins on the bounce at WB 47) was clearly insane. After a dropoff at WB 48, they captured the magic back at WB 49- winning their first 12 games of the tournament before finally falling in the Final. Despite being thrown into a group of death, with the final being on home soil, there was hope that they'd get title #3 in Busukuma.

That, unfortunately, did not happen. While they got third place, they mostly sputtered to that finish- and most agree that, if they weren't playing at home, that last cycle would have been a QF exit at best, if not a Ro16 exit. Unhappy, they are looking to put last cycle behind them, and launch a new attack for a third world championship.

Fan Culture Culture: Banijan fan culture around gridiron embodies some of that of the players. People love to talk smack, and therefore, fans are like that as well. Banijan fans are known as arrogant and proud, and they will show up in droves, in any city, wherever it is, to take over local bars and support their team, even without tickets. Casinos tend to love Banijan gridiron fans, as they willing to put their money where their mouth is, and bet large sums of money on Banijan gridiron.. Expect Banijans, both with and without tickets, to show up in big numbers, across the multiverse, for any Banijan away games- and to create loud environments for their home games, both during the group stages, and hopefully, during the knockouts.

Official Depth Chart for World Bowl LII

The rosters is drawn both from the Gridiron Football League of Banija(GFLB), our NSCF teams, foreign NSCF teams, foreign pro leagues, and other Banijan college teams.

Starters are underlined. Players who are receiving their first national team call-up are italicized. Listed in the order of the depth chart. Players on the practice squad are listed as such.

Offense

Quarterbacks
Kadesh Odika. #2. 31 years old. Starter for the Istria Black Mambas in the GFLB. Felswyr State University Alumnus. Captain.
Baka Webo. #12. 36 years old. Starter for the Herzegovina City Cobras in the GFLB. Alumnus of Wild Valley University.
Yeyeh Bardi. #7. 28 years old. Starter for the Aissa Crocodiles in the GFLB. Alumnus of Banijan Star and Crescent University.

The Serpent Eagles are known for having elite QB play- and that continues here at this World Bowl. From Isaka Jawara, to Ice Chineze- who was setting offensive records the way he was torching every defense between here and Timbuktu. With Ebou Hairte as the starter for just one cycle only, at World Bowl 47, Baka Webo was the starter at World Bowl 48- and then the reigns were finally turned over to the most hyped Banijan NT prospect probably ever- and that's a strong term, considering the absolute ridiculous pipeline of dudes they've had at the sports' most important position.

WHy didn't Odika start at World Bowl 48? Well, he had suffered an ACL injury in training camp ahead of it- leaving Baka Webo as the starter. Webo filled in admirably, of course- offense wasn't the reason they exited in the Quarterfinals. But Odika is the man who can reach the standard set by the greats before him- flashes of Jawara, flashes of Ice Chineze, and just a winner by all meanings of the word. And in his first cycle as a starter, he did more than impress- he shredded basically everybody in front of him. The Banijans went 9-0 in group play, powered by the QB at the helm of the #1 offense in the tournament. He continued his success into the knockout stages, bringing them all the way to the Final, where Cardenao beat them in the title game(and for the fourth time in the last two editions). Odika's coming back with a fire in his belly, and with a simple message- championship or bust. It's now his fourth World Bowl, so this is thoroughly his team- and the pressure is ramping up on him to win one.

Behind him, Webo is a more than capable backup, and if he needs to play a game or two, there is not going to be much of a dropoff from starter to backup. The third string, of course, is somebody who really isn't going to get any snaps- Sabadaey was picked to be the team's QB3 because of his skills in the film room, and as a locker room guy, as opposed to on the field. There probably isn't anyone who would describe him as the third best Banijan QB out there- but with two studs at the position, the coaching staff was all about using this role to help build team culture- probably a smart move, although if the injuries get catastrophic enough where the team is putting in their QB3, they might be in some serious shit.

Halfbacks
Joshua Okombo. #21. 28 years old. Fresh graduate of the Islamic University of Busoga in the NSCF. Plays for the Istria Black Mambas in the GFLB.
Balinda Kisero. #24. 30 years old. Fresh graduate of Northern Moravica University. Plays for the Herzegovina City Cobras in the GFLB.
Isaga Duhaga. #20. 33 years old. Graduate of Staramara Tech University in the NSCF. Plays for the Sisonke Leopards in the GFLB.
Alain Sidibé. #23. 26 years old. Graduate of the University of Aksum. Plays for the Duntho Oilers in the GFLB.

Zamandi Ayana was the exact type of back that Thomas Hall will fall in love with. Big, strong, powerful, he's an absolute terror to try and tackle. Dude runs a near 4.4 40 at his size and speed? An absolute monster. While his pass-catching skills could use some work, he's an all-yardage situation back to hand the ball off to, as well as an excellent pass blocker. He's seen it all, done it all- RFL champion, RFL MVP, the whole 9 yards. But, Father Time is undefeated, and 36 years old is simply too old to be a starting HB at this level- no matter what your talent is. While a spot at the bottom of the depth chart was available, he didn't want on the roster unless he was the bellcow, and therefore, he and the team amicably parted ways to retire.

So to replace him, we've got the RB by committee- although Okombo, a former NSCF Player of the Year, is the clear class of this bunch. While he doesn't offer a ton as a receiver, running the ball he truly is elite- shifty, powerful, great speed, and hard to bring down at first contact, unless you wrap up clearly. And while the Istria back will be the lead back, it doesn't mean those behind him won't get carries, either. Kisero is best as a receiving HB, so expect her to be used mostly in passing situation, while Duhaga is mostly a straight up power back- so goal line and short yardage situations are his specialty.

It'll be up to the coaches to ensure that they can get the most out of a HB room that, while talented, leaves plenty of unanswered questions.

Wide Receivers.
Kasozi Batte. #11, 31 years old. 6'5, 235 pounds. Graduate of Cold Hill University. Plays for the Mukeruzi Hyenas in the GFLB. A two-time Olympic gold medalist sprinter(won gold in the men's 200m at the XVII Summer Olympiad, as well as ran the first leg of the Banijan men's 4 x 100m relay team, which won a gold medal at the XIX Summer Olympiad). Also serves as the team chaplain.
Godwin Tamuka. #81, 30 years old. 6'4, 214 pounds. 4.44 40 yard dash. Graduate of the Islamic University of Busoga. Plays for the Istria Black Mambas in the GFLB.
Azariah Akombo. #6, 22 years old. 5'11, 195 pounds. Plays for the Lwanga Rhinos in the GFLB. Primary slot WR.
Engemu Wabulakyenda. #17, 29 years old. 6'3, 208 pounds. Plays for the Busukuma Suns in the GFLB. Went to Pumbasa University.
Samo Sarr. #10, 33 years old. 6'4, 211 pounds. Plays for the Dukuma Dragons in the GFLB. Graduate of Mar Sara Tech University in the NSCF. Older brother of Samo Sarr.
Issaka Sarr. #84, 24 years old. 6'3, 201 pounds. Plays for the Mar Sara Night Elves in the GFLB. Graduate of Bunyoro A&M University. Younger brother of Samo Sarr.

With Banija's core WRs largely retiring, there needed to be a mix- the reigning generation, who are still at the very peak of their powers, in their prime, alongside a veteran presence- and then, the youth movement to start moving towards the next generation. And Banija found that balance. Kasozi Batte, once again, is the WR1. He might be the best WR in the entire competition. He's got wicked speed- two Olympic gold in different sprinting competitions. And yet- he's tall, powerful, hardworking, etc... A coach's dream. Godwin Tamuka is another elite player, one who plays in the GFLB with the team's starting QB- so the chemistry is there. Tamuka has much more of a WR personality, however- a certified diva.

Half the WR room is brand new- Akombo, a rookie out of Kizza I college, is gonna start in the slot for this team. A surprise- but Coach Hall raves about him, saying that he was such an efficient route runner, that his routes underneath could really open up the offense over the top. And then, while Wabuluakyenda made the roster, the big topic is the Sarr brothers- with Samo Sarr's little brother, Issaka Sarr, finally being good enough to join Samo with the NT. They are down the depth chart, but who doesn't like a brotherhood here?

Tight Ends.
Kulubo Secka. #86, 31 years old. Blocking Tight End. Plays for the Sisonke Leopards in the GFLB. Graduate of the Islamic University of Busoga.
Mugisa Mbuzimulanga.#81, 35 years old. Jack of all Trades Tight End. Graduate of Loyola-Istria. Plays for the Mar Sara Night Elves in the GFLB.
Waloga Ssebalijja. #80, 38 years old. Blocking Tight End. Plays for the Herzegovina City Cobras in the GFLB. Graduate of Central Kitara University.

Not much changing around here. With so much talent at the WR positions, there simply is not going to be a lot of opportunity for these guys to see a lot of the ball, so expect to see them on the field in mostly running formations. Their biggest role will be run blocking, with some pass blocking, and honestly, minimal targets. But, with the HBs probably going down a notch, expect them to be used more in red zone situations- a tremendous opportuity for the TEs on this roster to rack up touchdowns.

Left Tackle.
Karwana Kakaddé. #65, 29 years old. 6'3, 300 pounds. 3 year starter at NMU in the NSCF. Plays for the Mynda Gorillas in the GFLB. Second cycle as the starter.
Sanballa Danso. #69, 27 years old. 6'6, 301 pounds. Plays for the Herzegovina City Cobras in the GFLB. Went to the University of Loyola-Busukuma.

Left Guard.
Melo Sawel. #60, 28 years old. 6'6, 311 pounds. Plays for the Mynda Gorillas in the GFLB. Graduate of Felswyr State University. Third WB as a starter.
Sutura Fatty. #64, 28 years old. 6'2, 310 pounds. Plays for the Rukunbi Wizards in the GFLB. Went to Western Hangaza University.

Center.
Wasswa Sait. #57. 25 years old. 6'2, 294 pounds. Graduate of NMU in the NSCF. Plays for the Mar Sara Night Elves in the GFLB. First tournament on the roster, and now is a starter.
Usian Shomari. #50. 33 years old. 6'4, 301 pounds. Three year starter for Loyola-Istria in the NSCF. Plays for the Mynda Gorillas in the GFLB.

Right Guard.
Kassa Essayas. #68. 39 years old. 6'5, 309 pounds. Three year starter for Felswyr State(two-time NSCF champion). 7th World Bowl as a starter. Plays for Umbazi Metropolitan SC in the GFLB. Captain.
Moussa Gambi. #64, 21 years old. 6'2, 298 pounds. Two year starter for Northern Moravica in the NSCF. NSCF 34 champion.

Right Tackle.
Ikuru Bayongo. #65, 30 years old. Graduate of Staramara Tech University in the NSCF. Plays for Bunyoro RSC in the GFLB. Third World Bowl as a starter.
Samo Coybari. #71, 29 years old. Two year starter for NMU in the NSCF. Plays for the Bwubanza Ostriches in the GFLB. ThirdWorld Bowl.

The offensive line construction this year is... Interesting. Easily the oldest position group on the team- maybe a questionable decision on a grouping that was probably the offense's biggest weakness last cycle. Essayas is back, shockingly, for a 7th cycle- he will become the all-time leader for the Serpent Eagles in games played during this tournament. SO much will fall on them- if they can keep Odika upright, they can pick apart any defense in the book. If not... It'll be a long tourney for the Serpent Eagles.

Defense 3-3-5

Left Defensive End.
Zelotes Okoth. #91, 28 years old. Graduate of the Islamic University of Busoga. Plays for the Mar Sara Night Elves in the GFLB.
Sera Kyameze. #93, 29 years old. Graduate of Buganda State University. Plays for the Busembe Timberwolves in the GFLB.

Right Defensive End.
Karwana Kimaka. #96, 31 years old. Graduate of Felswyr State University. Plays for the Lwanga Rhinos in the GFLB.
Lallo Disora. #90, 22 years old. Graduate of Northern Moravica University.

Nose Tackle.
Faja Sohaya. #95, 33 years old. 6'4, 311 pounds. Graduate of Lesedi University. Plays for the Igulu Bush Elephants in the GFLB.
Mufri Sata. #98, 24 years old. 6'6, 330 pounds. Fresh graduate of Northern Moravica University.
Muna Kusama. #99, 30 years old. 6'4, 300 pounds. Graduate of Kabakono University. Starter for the Rukunbi Wizards in the GFLB.

The interesting thing about a national team, is that it is not like a club team- where you can plug and play free agents. Sometimes, you've got to play what your talent demands you to play- and the lack of depth at the DT position in the GFLB means that the Banijans are almost forced to play in a 3-3-5 base set, as opposed to a base 4-2-5, like Hall prefers. While the HC isn't complaining, there are criticisms of the league's 'lack of physicality' that these guys are sure to try to disprove. The DT position is weak but the defensive ends here are good- the big question is can they hold up in the running game against the best rushing attacks?

Left Outside Linebacker. (Typically a pash rusher in passing situations- both players at this position are EDGE guys)
Karilisa Sentambaazi. #55, 32 years old. Starter for the Bwubanza Ostriches in the GFLB. Graduate of Loyola-Istria.
Garai Mudzuri. #41, 24 years old. Starter for the Herzegovina City Cobras in the GFLB.

Middle Linebacker.
Lucius Agot. #57, 32 years old. Graduate of Staramara Tech University. Plays for the St. Jakob Honey Badgers in the GFLB. Captain.
Zesiro Wattiti. #56, 27 years old. Graduate of Raynor University in the NSCF.
Ejau Kasomba. #47, 27 years old. Starter for the Igulu Bush Elephants in the GFLB. Northern Moravica graduate.

Strong Side Outside Linebacker. (Usually drops into coverage in passing situations)
Batte Nteza. #40, 26 years old. Just finished his redshirt senior year at Staramara Tech, after 3 years in the BCSG.
Biji Gaa. #52, 29 years old. Starter for the Mynda Gorillas in the GFLB. Graduate of the University of Hangaza.

These players are firmly what you'd call 'good, but not great'. Not really much to say here- none of these guys are truly world-class at anything, but none of them are awful, either. All either average or slightly above average athletes, who are trying to make the most of this opportunity. Lucius Agot has the highest ceiling of anyone in the LB group- he's got gamebreaking ability, but he's getting up there in age for the linebacker position. Nteza is another name to watch at this position, as well. Nteza is rangy, but only played one year of NSCF ball, as a transfer starter at Staramara Tech. Can he adjust to what it takes to be a starting linebacker as a rookie at the World Bowl? A lot is being asked of his young athlete- we'll see if he can deliver.

Cornerbacks.
Munanire Tembo. #1, 29 years old. Graduate of Richardson University. Plays for the Mar Sara Night Elves in the GFLB.
Julius Adhon. #39, 28 years old. Fresh graduate of the Islamic University of Busoga.
Samaba Nbaha. #23, 32 years old. Graduate of Ankole State. Plays for the Igulu Bush Elephants in the GFLB. Primary nickel back.
Buzwe Bogodo. #33, 25 years old. Graduate of Loyola-Istria.
Gondoi Siwangeh. #24, 28 years old. Graduate of the University of Moravica. Plays for the Mukeruzi Hyenas in the GFLB.
Balankang Kitaya. #31, 32 years old. Graduate of Kizza I College. Starter for the Sisonke Leopards in the GFLB.
Galabba Bljogo. #26, 33 years old. Graduate of Ankole Tech. Plays for Busukuma AC in the GFLB.

Strong Safety.
Tuutoo Bokate. #26, 32 years old. Starter for the Hoima Zebra in the GFLB. Graduate of Hangaza Tech.
Akuchi Obasea. #27, 33 years old. Fresh graduate of Northern Moravica University.

Free Safety.

A mandate from Thomas Hall- he thought there was a lot to build on in the secondary after Banija's defense held up their end of the bargain in last cycle's postseason, and he is doubling down. He's starting a pair of veteran, very talented corners- Ttembo and Julius Adhon, who both figure to thrive in man to man coverage. A rebuild of the title teams of the not so distant past, where a defense that blitzed like crazy had the backstop of two of the best cover corners in the game. With his CBs in place, look for this defense to get aggressive- start leading in blitz rates, going all out with the extra guy to try and get pressure and force mistakes, knowing about the corners they have behind them. Remember, the head coach himself was a CB- so there's extra expectations for these guys to go ball.

While the CBs are a strength... The safeties are less of one. The safeties are OK- the high blitz rates of the Serpent Eagles means that they'll be left in man coverage, or in very deep zone defenses. Sometimes it pays dividends, but they can definitely be caught out for the big play. Regardless, they will have to go out there and make plays themselves, but they will be looking forward to the challenge. With the HC himself being a DB as a player, he's taking special interest in the position, so expect them to be coached up as well as any position group on this team.

Special Teams.

My punter is the holder for field goals, just to be clear. My punter does normal kickoffs while my kicker does onside kicks. Lastly, my kicker is my backup punter and my punter is my backup kicker, just in case you RP an injury to one.

Nothing has changed here. Everybody's back basically- the starters at kicker, punter, long snapper, and even both returners. The Banijan special teams unit is known as dependable, but not explosive. They generally won't completely screw things up, but it's unlikely they'll go out and straight up win a game for the Banijans either.

Head Coach: Thomas Hall(Ranoria). 72 years old. The Ranorian is entering his 13th cycle as the head coach of this football team- one of the longest tenured coaching reigns by any Banijan NT coach, in any sport. The two-time world champion is a legend in this land- and he will look to build on that legacy.

After the failures of World Bowl 39, the team searched far and wide to find a coach- and their eyes landed on Ranoria. Someone who was the opposite of their old coach, Alastair Jobs. As a player, Hall was the career leader in the Ranorian Football League with 62 career interceptions. He had immediately success. The Banijan national team didn't make the knockout stages at either World Bowl 38 or 39, and it was the group stage elimination at the Istria Olympiad that got his predecessor fired. Thomas Hall, however, hit the ground running. Changing the team's focus from a spread 'em out speed team to more of a power team, he went 10-0 in the group stages of World Bowl XL, and took the Serpent Eagles to their first ever World Bowl final.

After a quarterfinal appearance at World Bowl XLI, he said it's time to revamp the team's offense. "We've got stars on the outside with Lamin Kah and Chinweuba Jelan on the outside- we can't let that go to waste." Whereas Banija has been ground and pound for the last two tournaments, expect them to lean more towards spreading around the football and lighting up the scoreboard, to take advantage of the star players they have at the skill positions on offense. However, the revamp took some time to work, with a devastating blowout elimination to Ranoria at World Bowl XLII, and a stunning first round playoff exit to South Newlandia at World Bowl XLIII.

But he recovered from that quite well. After falling in a shootout against Bongo Johnson on the opening day of World Bowl XLIV, the Serpent Eagles started winning- and they literally didn't lose again, winning 8 group stage games in a row, followed by four more in the knockout stages to bring the damn trophy home- Banija's first World Bowl. The defensive ace winning behind a high-powered offense- although the defense came up clutch in the semis and the final. Probably a decent chunk of Banijans think he could walk on water, bringing home this long awaited title. "I haven't bought a drink in a decade." Coach Hall chuckles.

The title defense was arguably even more impressive. Their top two WRs retiring, their star HB getting to age 32. Returning Ice Chineze with a stable of young, talented, but unproven WRs. And Banija did the exact same thing. They stumbled a couple of times in group play. But when it mattered most, they really got into a flow- a place where they could not be stopped. After getting lit up by South Americanastan on the road, the team played their best gridiron in the knockout stages. Three possesion wins over both TJUN-ia and Drawkland when it was one & done. A 7-6 QF win over the Dragonflies, where we out Ko-oren'd Ko-oren. And defeating Sarai Gwenderyn in the world title game, on her home soil.

It couldn't get better than that. "I haven't bought a drink in six years." He said, smirking. He wants to put Banija into the history books- a threepeat, in this sport, would do just that. He's done everything an elite coach should do. Came in, had a stud defense, revamped the style when the talent went offensive, and they were top of the world. In World Bowl XLVI, They went to their third straight World Bowl Final, in Ranoria- and lost in tragic fashion to their archrivals. And in World Bowl 47, they won 16 games on the bounce to start the tournament- before falling in the semifinals to Drawkland, by just 6 points, ahead of what would have been an unprecedented 4th consecutive World Bowl Final.

After 'only' reaching the QFs at World Bowl 48, there was a big wave of retirements- a lot of those title-winning generations making way to a new generation of players. New faces everywhere in prominent spots, especially at QB- with Kadesh Odika taking the reigns. Many thought it would be a challenge too far. But that did not happen.

Not a chance it was a challenge too far. The Banijans responded to a huge change of players by not only going 9-0 in group play, but earning the #1 seed for the playoffs, and running a murderer's row to get to the Final- defeating Ko-oren, South Newlandia, and the then defending champions, Sarzonia, to reach Hall's 5th World Bowl Final in 10 cycles. While we lost in overtime to Cardenao which meant we didn't get our third title, that means expectations for World Bowl L were sky high- with a minimum expectation of playing in Busukuma in the World Bowl Final.

Instead, they got third place- and in less than impressive fashion, struggling to a 9-5 record in the group stage. Last tournament was a better group stage- 12-1, #1 overall seed- for a worse knockout stage, losing to Chromatika in the quarterfinals. He's back, for a 13th cycle, trying to win a 3rd ring.

Offensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach: Kopo Bogadi. 656 years old. This dude has been offensive coordinator for the last 8 World Bowls, where an explosive Banijan offense has powered the nation to two world titles, and two more appearances in the Final. He's comfortable in his position, and turned down the HC job for the Busoga Islands to stay here. While his normally high-powered offense took a step back, consistency wise, last cycle, Hall has kept his faith in his long-time OC- and Bogadi expects to deliver once again.

Other notable Offensive Staff: Former NSCF 14 and NSCF 17 champion, Loyola alum running back Justice Greenspan is the running backs coach. He is 66 years old. 69 year old Ugonna Chioma is the Quarterbacks Coach. 44 year old Uzoma Bolongi is the WRs Coach. 44 year old David Kobino is the OL coach. And 58 year old Mamadi Diene Jr.(the former offensive coordinator's youngest son) is the Tight Ends Coach.

Defensive Coordinator: We've got a returning DC, for once! This has been a position that generally rotates- which makes sense, as Thomas Hall does a lot of the DC duties himself. Hall's perosnal involvement makes it hard for him to hire a DC, especially one who sticks around for a long time. GFLB veteran DC Marc Ouattara s back in the position. It was supposed to be a one cycle stint, but with the tournament on home soil, he couldnt' resist a return for a second cycle. The 77 year old, despite his age, is energetic- and fits the blitz happy, man coverage persona of the HC.

Other notable defensive staff: Danoo Dejta, at 59 years old, is the LB coach. Ibou Sohna, at 51 years old, is the DL coach. And Jalang Jarl, at 67 year old, is the Defensive Backs coach.

Special Teams Coordinator/Strength & Conditioning Coach: Idi Taal. 70 years old. Fourth year as the ST coordinator.

Team Chaplain: Kasozi Batte, the team's WR1, is known for his preaching abilities- and will also serve as the team chaplain.
