The Elite Youth Luege of Taxhavn
(or however you spell laege)
That of course is not my bad journalism you are reading there, but a famous quote by the teenage manager of the first ever Buzzelli Bargain Stores Taxhavn branch. Since then the shilling shop has built a solid reputation for cheap domestic goods and terrible spelling on its shop signage - something it now does deliberately as part of its USP. As the sponsor of the brand new Elite Youth League, it has a controversial association with lazy illiteracy in the younger population, and many puritans are upset about the association with the youth football teams. But any publicity is gud publicity, in the i's of FA-Tax...
The Elite Youth League, set up to support under-18 teams to play more competitive football and to have an opportunity to play in interregional football with the Rising Stars Cup, runs over two stages. In the first stage thirty teams compete in three regional divisions, playing a double round-robin format of 18 games; at which point the teams divide on merit to compete nationally in the second stage of the league. In this stage, the bottom team in each region is eliminated, leaving twenty seven clubs overall. The top three of each will contest a single round of games, with a random unseeded draw to establish four home and four away games each. The next three finishers in each region, who placed 4th-6th, compete in Tier 2, while the 7th-9th placed finishers drop into Tier 3.
The Tier 1 divisional winner after eight games is confirmed as the national youth champion, and in the inaugural season it is the famous Raven Thöni academy that took the first title. While the senior team were busy getting relegated and making everyone wonder how they had become so short on ideas and ambition, Raven's youth coaches were doing what they have a track record for doing over many years: producing top quality players for the future. The club that brough through Valentin Fay and Raphael Kaiser are the typically the first ever winners of the Elite Youth League, with the likes of local lads Heinz Hirsh, Rudi Von Unslingen, Alphonse Kirsch and René Kremer offering a glimpse of what should be to come. And of course, the team has impressed with it's global reach, snapping up Pasargans Zobor Herman and Jaron Versluis to play a major role in the first EYL title. From the Wightling Commonwealth, the Mustardo striker Arcadius Veco stood out as one of the best, winning both best player and top scorer in the competition for the All-Blacks, while Versluis took the best young foreigner award.
St. Bernadine Academical have a reputation for bringing young scholars through including Deltic star Onun Tasher, and Visayas Islands striker Rogelio Carreón, 23, now leading the line at University Lane; and the production of potential stars continues as Academical earned a very close second place with attacking midfielder Fynn Light-Weston one of the most exciting prospects of the year. Surprisingly he hasn't made it into the national junior teams at SoccerLand yet, but after this season, the call must coming. One player who is well established at SoccerLand, and impressed in the under-18 World Cup championship is Bert-Jan Tanker, at De Tike FC. Unsurprisingly he won defender of the season while his keeper, Tequiloan Ossü, took the Golden Glove as the young Clockwork Orange and Blues took an impressive third place overall in the league.

Old Shakerssens fans at least have one little glory to crow about - they are the EYL Southern Region champions, narrowly finishing ahead of new startup Boldsea FC and eventual national runners-up St. Bernadine Academical. Tunn's Farm Academy, the production line of Deltic FC, showed predictable dominance in the Western region, but really ran out of steam when it came to the second stage national championship, finishing bottom of Tier-1.
