Historic Day In Military Gameplay: August 30th, 2025
Independent and Defender Coalitions Display Unprecedented Offensive Force
Topic: Gameplay
By: USS Merrimack (John Laurens), edited by Doge Republics (Wizard)
STYGIAN ABBEY | In the early hours of of August 30th, 2025, gameplayers from all walks of life woke up to an incredible sight: two historic attacks, planned and executed separately from one another, saw the independent and defender factions respectively seizing The Hanguard and The Monarchist Bloc.
The simultaneous operations involved over 100 updaters on the initial jump, including 15 from Perdition—the most updaters from one region in either operation, and grew to an endorsement count of over 240, despite the latter not involving a concerted effort to pile for efficiency reasons.
Operation Open Gate
Militaries: RIP, TWPAF, TO, CARC, BAL, NPA, LKE, FSB, VDF
Until Operation Open Gate, the last major occupation in NationStates was in June, with Sparkalia leading a Raider Unity occupation of the Federation of Sovereign States: liberated decisively in two updates by defender and independent forces. Operation Open Gate saw the invasion of The Hanguard, a Frontier. The invasion was led by the Radiant Inquisition of Perdition, the West Pacific Armed Forces, the Outback Bushrangers, the Grand Army of the Crowned Republic of Carcassonne. Additional involved militaries included the Balder Jomsvikings, the North Pacific Army, the Imperial Army of the Land of Kings and Emperors, Frontierist Special Brigade of Talonia, and Vibonian Defense Forces. The Radiant Inquisition led the turnout of the initial invasion with 15 updaters. Together, the coalition amassed over fifty updaters for the initial jump, which has since, as of writing, grown to 171 total endorsements, led in piler turnout by the West Pacific Armed Forces, followed by the Radiant Inquisition and Talonia’s Frontierist Special Brigade.
Rhaza, Primarch of the Plains of Perdition, commented on the purpose and accomplishments of the operation:Rhaza wrote:The purpose of this operation was to show that independence can outperform invaders and their apologists when it comes to offensive actions, and that for regions who want to raid, you don’t need raiders. Given our performance here, I think that’s been a success.”
At 171 endorsements, Open Gate is the largest invasion of 2025, outperforming the Pacific and Lone Wolves United’s occupation of Lonia Kreptia Llor (LKL) by 20 endorsements. LKL was notably liberated in May by a force including 18 Inquisitors.
Strategos (General) Wolflandil - the Radiant Inquisition’s leading officer -has been serving as the point of the invasion through the nation Yshtola, a sleeper they had maintained in The Hanguard.Wolflandil wrote:It's nice to cooperate with our allies, and to break records. It is due to everyone's hard work that we led the largest raid of 2025. [171] Endorsements is amazing, and the number of endorsements coming in is still increasing.
Lastly, the Post was able to reach Varanius, Delegate of the West, for comment. Varanius was critical to the operation’s planning and rallying of piling forces.Varanius wrote:The West Pacific viewed this operation as a critical juncture in the cementing of our diplomatic network in the post-TO scandal world. We have a close set of allies and ideological contemporaries who we want to continue to work to support, and our 56 pilers are currently giving some pretty good support.
At the 171 endorsement figure, Operation Open Gate is understood to be the largest independent occupation in NationStates history, as any operations larger than this involved raider forces.
Intervention in The Monarchist Bloc
Militaries: LDF, ERN, TITO, TGW, BLF, GAS
On the same day, a formidable defender coalition launched an invasion into The Monarchist Bloc (TMB). This operation has been reported to have been “off-the-cuff” compared to Open Gate’s more planned background. Devised by Gagium and executed under the leadership of The League’s Defense Forces with about ten hours notice, this operation came to be after The Communist Bloc (the previous occupiers of TMB) used their delegacy in the operation to unsuccessfully stomp Commend Anjan Kloss. This operation was led by The League Defense Forces with support from the Europeian Republican Navy, Ten Thousand Island Treaty Organization, The Order of the Grey Wardens, Bankless Liberation Forces, and Galactic Armada of Starlight with a high of 73 troops deployed.
This operation did not involve an intensive piling effort, as the region was close to being destroyed at the time of the defender intervention. During the intervention, it was discovered that The Communist Bloc had telegrammed the residents of this fascist region encouraging them to consider moving to Europeia and The Middle Pacific, the former being a longtime contributor to anti-fascist efforts. The Post sought comments from Gagium, the primary organizer of the intervention:Gagium wrote:The Communist Bloc is no stranger to mismanagement, as seen when they tanked their foreign relations by pointlessly antagonizing their former friends in NSLeft. More pertinently, however, they used their hold in TMB to obsessively smear defenders despite the hold being a claimed ‘fashbash.’
The Post was also able to reach The United Royal Islands of Euramathania, Chief Executive of 10000 Islands.United Royal Islands wrote:We are greatly honored to help provide support LDF [sic] and other allies in correcting the record on TCB's offensive smear campaign against our friends. We believe that joint operations much like the one we have just wrapped up in TMB serve to further our collective ties and morale as defenders, maintaining our capacity to respond to any emergent threat in NationStates.
Unfortunately, the region’s Governor returned after it had been passworded, preventing a permanent refound. While disappointing, the LDF-led intervention was nevertheless noteworthy.
Conclusion
Open Gate displays the ability of independent forces to rally to their interests without the involvement of raiders, and to raise incredible numbers without organizations like the Pacific’s involvement. In the case of TMB, it’s very likely the defender coalition could have reached similar numbers if they had piled or broadened their coalition.
In the aftermath of the dissolution of The Brotherhood of Malice, several commentators have claimed that gameplay is declining. Despite that pest’s departure, however, we have just seen an unprecedented display of offensive prowess by two coalitions who, when their interests demand it, are likely to unite on big-picture initiatives. For example, Solidarity saw a combination of defender, independent, and smaller forces that combined for 208 endorsements. Under the current situation, it appears a similarly enticing target could contend with 300 or more endorsements given the combined 240 across Open Gate and TMB, noting the lack of piling on the latter and the relative narrowness of the coalitions (not incorporating smaller, uninvolved regions).
Overall, independent and defender military power appears to have extended past liberations and into interests-based combat at large.

Ostrovskiy Government I: Midterm Poll
Illuminated weigh in on the performance of Perdition's government
Topic: Polls & Analysis
By: Choppyhausen
We have reached the halfway point of the Ostrovskiy I government term which began on August 7th, 2025 and will end on December 7th, 2025. As has become tradition, the Perdition Post has conducted a midterm approval poll among Perdition’s citizens to review the current government and its actions.
Ministry Overview
Before inspecting the poll, let’s have a quick look over Perdition’s ministries and its ministers. Next to Chancellor Ostrovskiy, there are currently six ministers in office.
- Foreign Affairs: Run by New Opolopia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focuses on external matters which concern Perdition: our allies, friendlies, and hostiles, and managing what occurs in broader gameplay. This has been a rather quiet term Foreign Affairs wise as we enter a time of stability without a lot of crises to be managed. The MoFA has introduced one treaty with Vibonia this term which was ratified in August.
- Recruitment & Integration: This ministry, run by South Petronellania who has served as R&I minister since the first Nolrem government, focuses on recruiting new people to the region and then integrating the new faces arriving here in the Plains. Recruiters have sent over 80,000 telegrams so far this term, shattering any prior recruitment records. Additionally the ministry was responsible for the updated #get-started Channel on Perdition’s Discord server.
- Culture: Headed by Doge Republics (aka Wizard), the Ministry of Culture focuses on planning community events and maintaining and expanding Perdition’s cultural identity. It is responsible for the weekly community hangouts happening every Thursday, and most notably this term, hosted Perdition’s Rocket Bot Royale tournament, which has seen an incredible success, holding the interest of many over several weeks and garnering an audience of over 25 people for the final series. The ministry also co-hosted the Burning Marsupial Festival with the West Pacific and the Outback, and organized a joint game night with the League & Concord.
- Media: Run by yours truly (Choppyhausen), this ministry is responsible for informing the Illuminated and other readers through publications in the Perdition Post as well as a regularly issued newsletter on Perdition’s Regional Message Board. This is TPP’s third article this government term following articles regarding the RBR tournament and two historic military operations in the beginning of September.
- World Assembly Affairs: This new ministry, established this term and headed by Saint Asperes, is the successor to the former position of WA Envoy, issuing information and voting recommendations for the World Assembly to Perdition’s citizens.
Update: Saint Asperes has resigned his position at the time of publication. The article, however, is kept as-is, before he announced his resignation.- Roleplay: Another new edition to the ministry roster, the RP ministry is run by Etarria. Its main goal is to help grow activity in Perdition’s Roleplay region Lightbound. This term, the ministry introduced a weekly RP Newsletter, informing the Illuminated about the latest RP happenings as well as a Hurricane event in which most of Lightbound’s nations are participating.
The Approval Poll
Back to the poll. Five questions were asked as well as an additional text field for any other information that participants wanted to share. 14 members of the Illuminated responded between October 7th and October 14th and these were the results.
The first question referred to the government as a whole.
With an overall approval rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5, Perdition’s government officials can be proud to achieve the highest rating recorded by TPP beating the previous governments under Chancellor Nolrem that had ratings of 4.2 and 4.3 respectively.
The second question now focussed on the ministries, as participants were asked if they thought the following ministries were important/necessary.
According to the participating Illuminated, Foreign Affairs and Recruitment & Integration are by far Perdition’s most important and necessary ministries, with the newer ministries lagging a bit behind.
For the third question, we are now looking at the Chancellor and his cabinet. How much confidence do the Illuminated have in the government officials to perform their duties?
Here, South Petronellania and Saint Asperes stand out as the ministers in which Perdition’s citizens seem to have the most confidence in.
The next question: Do you approve of the official actions of the following officials this term?
Saint is once again the best rated official in this metric, meanwhile Choppyhausen’s and Etarria’s actions got a little bit less public approval.
For the last question, participants were asked if they think that the following officials should be reappointed at the end of the term in the beginning of December.
Generally good numbers for the cabinet here, as every government official has at least 50% of the Illuminated supporting their reappointment. Chancellor Ostrovskiy stands out here with a kind of “Love or Hate” situation, receiving the most ‘Affirmative’ votes as well as the most ‘Slightly Negative’ and ‘Negative’ votes. Meanwhile, one participating citizen believed that none of the current ministers should continue their job in the next term.
As a new addition to the Approval Poll, participants also got the option to post more open feedback through an additional field where they could add anything not covered in the questions before. These are the additional comments made by Illuminated citizens:“I really don't know who some of these people are as a Discord goer, and I think some effort should be put into political officials making themselves more known by the community they represent.”
“Great work everyone!”
“I dislike the roleplay ministry a lot and I think that should be replaced. Ostrovskiy isn’t doing the best he should be doing and needsa break. Wizard is doing the minimum. Saint is doing amazing and is doing the best out of everyone. And etarria meeee to put in more effort but shouldn’t be given that chance for a while.”
“I hope to see more large cultural events happen, the RBR tournament was really cool. I also hope to see more people get into roleplay. And Roleplay could have more threads dedicated to certain aspects of it like geology, religion, history, and all that stuff so there could be a little more organization with how things are planned in it. I think a lot of the government so far is doing an absolutely wonderful job, especially culture and roleplay (idrk what petro or new opolopia do). Media is doing a great job as well. I think something that would be super awesome is maybe to see a Google site for the ministries, and it could outline the goals and hopes of what the minister wants to get done, I know that Bjornifjordaland is great at making sites on Google sites so maybe he could help with that.”
“Nice work so far everyone!”
Analysis
Overall, all government officials received mainly positive feedback; no minister had less than 50% approval in any of the above categories.
Not that surprisingly, the Ministries of World Assembly Affairs and Roleplay that were newly established by Chancellor Ostrovskiy this term seem to still have a few skeptics. While not all Illuminated are already convinced by the importance of the new ministries, they have gained a decent number of supporters catching up to longer-established ministries like Media and Culture. This number can be expected to rise as the new institutions begin to become more integrated into Perdition’s society; WA Minister Saint Asperes in particular has already won the hearts of Perdition’s citizens, ranking among the highest approval ratings in every measured metric.
Meanwhile, Choppyhausen–probably because of their long leave of absence at the beginning of their term–and Etarria–due to their novelty in a government position and a bit of general skepticism regarding the Roleplay Ministry–were on the lower end of the Approval Ratings. However, even the lowest rated officials received generally positive feedback from the participants showing that Perdition’s citizens are quite satisfied with their civilian government so far this term.

RBR PANDEMONIUM AHEAD OF WORLD TOUR III
“We’re in Rocket Bot Hell right now.”
Topic: Sports & Culture
The NationStates sports world stands dazed, confused, and in suspense as we approach Rocket Bot Royale World Tour III, hosted by the Outback in their Steak House Arena. A chaotic week of roster changes, sports VISAs, and high emotions have fans of the sport on the edge of their seats.
The Perdition Post brings you the hottest news as we approach the event, and encourages all interested, non-sanctioned parties to join the Outback’s Discord to attend. The competition will be held on Saturday, November 8th, at 6:00PM Eastern Time U.S.
Entering the tournament, the Outback seeks to earn their third title, while the Plains of Perdition look forward to the return of five-star Rhaza. The League & Concord suffers the loss of five-star Gagium to the injured reserve, and up-and-coming franchises in Talonia, Starlight, Liberlandia, and The Region That Has No Big Banks seek to make their mark in the league.
Roster Information
The Perdition Lightbringers, the state-sponsored team of the Plains, has its final roster listed below. Since issuing, they have signed Haitianstates (Numero Capitan) to the practice squad, with the expectation that he will be elevated to the playing roster prior to World Tour IV.
The Lightbringers’ starting lineup for World Tour III includes Rhaza, Doge Republics / Wizard, and BlackBlicky. New Opolopia is listed as questionable on the substitutes’ roster due to unconfirmed availability. If New Opolopia is available, Lightbringer team leadership has stated they plan to ensure playing time for both BlackBlicky and New Opolopia, who have been perceived as competing for the third starting spot.

Finals Rematch, Anjan Kloss v. Missouria
On Tuesday, we saw the first official Rhaza v. Gagium series since the last individual tournament’s finals, hosted by Perdition in September. In those finals, Rhaza fielded a disappointing performance that led Gagium to win 4-1. Perhaps in a resurgent upset to reignite the rivalry, Rhaza defeated Gagium 4-2 on Tuesday. One such game involved a shield-kill, where Gagium exclaimed “Look at that, look at- OH FUCK” during the matchup’s final seconds.
After his 4-2 defeat, Gagium fell silent for a moment before commenting “I… you know… it was a tough fight.” One viewer, Josi, who described herself as an “ardent Gaggers fan” stated that she was “heartbroken” by the loss and “disappointed” in Gagium’s performance.
Unfortunately Gagium has been placed on the Minutemen’s Injured Reserve ahead of World Tour III, so this is the last we’ll be seeing of him for the moment.
Another best-of-seven feature was Anjan Kloss (Kivu) v. Missouria. Given Kivu’s reputation as a late-game choker, and Missouria’s higher-than-expectations performances against both Rhaza and Gagium earlier in the day (winning five and three of seventeen respectively in scrimmages), there was some hope Missouria could hold his own against Kivu. Despite this optimism and the general belief that Missouria is the best player on the Starlight team, Kivu swept Missouria 4-0, with Rhaza commenting “I’m sick to my fucking stomach” and Gagium saying “I hope [Missouria’s] on the hot seat.”
Talonian Eagles Propose Banning Vampire Perk
On Wednesday, November 6th, it was revealed that the Talonian Eagles’s ownership petitioned that the “Vampire” perk should be banned from the upcoming World Tour. Vampire is an upgrade only accessible to level 32+ players, which provides a player with a health boost of half the damage done to another. For example, if Player A (half health) encounters Player B (full health) and deals damage to reduce Player B to half-health, a Vampire-equipped Player A would be restored to three-quarters health via the damage done.
Arguments in favor of the proposal centered on perceived imbalance of this upgrade, while arguments against focused on the attainability of the power-up through time played and that it is expensive to equip. No other team officially supported the Talonian proposal, and its rejection was officially announced in NSGP soon after.
Perdition Locker Room Woes
The Perdition Lightbringers locker room appears tense after Rhaza went 12-5 in a scrimmage against Missouria. Due to Missouria’s relative inexperience and performance reputation, that Rhaza lost five of seventeen was considered a poor performance for the five-star player. Leaks showed BlackBlicky telling Rhaza his performance was “awful,” that other teams now “think we are ass” and to “stop being lazy and practice.”
After Rhaza defeated Gagium 4-2 as previously reported, BlackBlicky told his teammate that “one practice is not enough, get off that couch old man.” Time will tell if Rhaza is able to practice sufficiently ahead of the World Tour.
Priola’s VISA: Allegations of Immigration Fraud for “Talonian” Four-Star
The Talonia Eagles are one of the struggling franchises of the World Tour. In exhibition matches they famously lost to Rhaza multiple times, as in, the entire Talonian starting lineup failed to defeat a single opponent.
To improve their chances they were able to import Carcassonnian Priola to their team, though updated regulations have prevented regions from fielding non-citizens under their banners without absolute necessity. Talonia has the manpower to fill a roster, but sought to import Priola to improve their chances, given Priola’s four-star rating (exceeding any other Talonian player, of which all but one other are two or fewer stars).
Upon the implementation of the new regulation, Talonia’s Ministry of Peace swiftly granted Priola citizenship in the region and re-signed him to their roster. While he was officially marked as a substitute on the last roster card, he is not marked as out, questionable, or injured reserve: fans fully expect to see Priola take the field for the Eagles this weekend.
