Well, here we are. This was not at all where I was expecting to be a year ago, but I am exceedingly grateful to be here nonetheless.
I would like to preface this address by taking a moment to applaud Chancellor Nolrem, unquestionably the best leader we could have had for the first 8 months of Perdition's history. It would not be an understatement to say that the choices they have made in those 8 months have permanently laid the foundations for how the government of Perdition will be modeled for years. If I can, by the end of this term, credibly tell myself that I have done as good a job as Nolrem would have, I will count that as an accomplishment indeed.
When I joined Perdition in the initial rush, I saw a lot of good people. People who were legends; titans of history whose names will be marked forever in records of the past. People who were excited to be there; those who wished to participate in this new sinker, the first new GCR along with the Outback in over a decade. People who were dedicated; those who worked day and night to build Perdition from just a name into a place with a government, citizenry, and presence. But for all the immense respect that I have for these people, none of them were at that point truly Perditians. They came from foreign regions to stake out their claim, as must necessarily happen in a brand new region, and neither the Illuminated nor their leaders were loyal to Perdition above else.
Over the last 8 months, this has changed. Through trials and through hard work, Perdition has developed a distinct cultural identity, and people have come to see it as home, and those people, while maybe less experienced, are those I value more because of their earnest dedication.
People, furthermore, have come after that initial rush. They are those who saw what we built and felt drawn to it, those who saw their region collapse and came here only to find a home. They are people who needed second chances, and how can I not give them as the second Chancellor (pun absolutely intended)? As I have previously said, second chances are the core of the sinkerite identity.
With all that in mind, here are the people who will assist me in building upon the work of the last 8 months and making Perdition better:
South Petronellania (Petro) will remain in his post as Minister of Integration and Recruitment. Petro is an absolute beast of a recruiter who puts in ungodly hours and sits second on the all time recruitment leaderboard behind only the Primarch themselves with over 30,000 telegrams sent. Furthermore, I have complete confidence in his ability both to work on revitalization of integration and manage the flow of the other recruiters.
My successor as Minister of Culture will be Doge Republics (Wizard). Wizard has risen up to the task of participating in culture during the last term, being the host of the official Minecraft server of Perdition and coming to nearly as many Community Hangouts as I do. His competitive spirit always lights up the hangouts, and as a bonus, he’s agreed to keep Community Hangout at the same time - Thursdays at 7:30 PM EST. I sincerely hope to see you there, almost as much as I sincerely believe that Wizard is the best person to take up the culture ministry.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will continue to be New Opolopia, who despite being a relative unknown at the start of the last term has proven himself extremely adept at playing the game of foreign affairs, and has overseen no less than 4 treaties, as well as a detente with Starlight. He also managed the greatest FA event of the last 2 years extremely well, especially for someone who had only been on the job for a few days at the time. I see no reason why that incredibly impressive record will not continue through my term, and thus I have no reason not to retain him.
The new Minister of Media will be Choppyhausen (Choppy). They have been a consistent contributor to the drafting of articles and have stepped up when it comes to our weekly RMB newsletter, and I am excited to see how they do when given a chance to prosper. For the sake of government transparency, however, you should know that they will be on an LOA through the beginning of September, and the decision has been made not to appoint a temporary Minister - the staff can manage.
There was only ever one choice for our first Minister of World Assembly Affairs, of course - and that would be Saint Asperes (Saint). Coming to Perdition after handing over the region of Covenant Shores to the Primarch’s purview after discovering the bigotry that had rotted the region, Saint has proven himself to be an invaluable asset to the whole of Perdition. His charming and instantly recognizable writing style has proven to be potent as World Assembly Envoy, and this change in title to Minister will only add appreciation to the invaluable work he does announcing recommendations and writing IFV’s.
Last but certainly not least, our Minister of Roleplay will be Etarria. He has poured countless hours into the world of Lightbound, something neither I, ashamed to admit it as I am, nor many other government officials have thus far done. His dedication is exactly what is needed to turn this area of the region into as prosperous a place as the rest, and he will be given broad latitude in designing his new ministry in order to make sure he succeeds.
I have a plan, my fellow Illuminated, as outlined in my statement, and I have just told you about the people I want beside me to help me execute it. Perdition is thriving, but we can go so much further, and I am confident in success because of the people who make it all possible: you. The wheels turn by every action you take in Perdition, even if it’s just answering a Question of the Day, and together, there is nothing that can stop us.
