This warning will apply to my future roleplays for the IAC as well. I am planning to write a story revolving around an aviation accident. Two aircraft will collide after a fatal error by Air Traffic Control, taking the life of former Edsmon player and icon Stentdon Beirbern and his family.

56 Storssen Dr., Aerkalventiciti, Dieusig, Edsmontik

5:16AM, Thursday, July 8th, 2032

Stentdon Beirbern was woken up by a punch in the gut from his son. He creaked his eyes open and saw Ilsen hopping about on his bed. His daughter, Vienna, better known as "V", was in the doorway, looking on her phone.

"Dad, wake up!" Ilsen shouted.

"Ilsen, give me a few minutes. Please." Beirbern mumbled, slightly in pain, wishing he hadn't stayed up until 1:00 AM trying to find his passport.

"You're always calling me lazy," Vienna started. "Now you're the lazy one!"

Stentdon chuckled, slowly sitting up. His son hopped off the bed, and Vienna motioned for him to follow them.

"Let me clean up first guys, I look like a wreck here."

Stentdon fixed himself up, brushing his teeth and warming himself up in the chilly Edsmon "summer". Upon leaving the bathroom, he found his wife, Kaera.

"Stent! How much sleep did you get? You look like a crisis!" she asked, poking him playfully. "Our flight is today, you better hurry."

"Isn't there a whole half-day until it departs? I desperately need sleep." Stentdon asked, rubbing his eyes.

"I'm surprised you remember. Anyways, I found your passport. It was in your closet. How'd you forget that?"

Kaera held out the passport, but Beirbern just stared at it, completely shocked. He questioned how he could have not seen it, as he was in his closet at least ten times that night.

"Stent!"

"Oh, right."

Beirbern walked back into his room, slipping the passport into his backpack before going over to the kitchen to meet his family. He devoured his breakfast so quickly that everyone just stared while he did it.

"You never eat that fast." Kaera said, shocked.

"What? I'm... Why am I eating so fast?"

Stentdon felt that he had some kind of force energy inside of him that made him do essentials, but otherwise he was useless. In short, he didn't want to wash the dishes. It was his turn though, and he powered through his exhaustion to finish quickly. Beirbern stumbled over to the TV and flopped onto the couch. It was then he realized that the remote wasn't in the holder.

"Hey V, have you seen the remote?" he shouted.

"I don't think I have." Vienna shouted back in reply. "But I know that Ilsen had it yesterday!"

A "Hey! Don't just tell me off!" could be heard from another room, followed by the drop of an object. It sounded like a vase.

"Kaera won't be happy." Stentdon thought.

However, being the terribly tired person that he was, Stentdon decided to let his wife handle the kids. Vienna was old enough to not cause too much chaos, but Ilsen on the other hand- he was a wrecking ball.

"Who broke the vase!?"

"That's Kaera" Stentdon thought, letting out a small laugh.

Just two minutes later, V came walking out with a triumphant smile, having successfully told off her brother for two crimes.

"What's this payback for?" Beirbern asked.

"Oh, just the time when he blamed me for cracking the upstairs TV." V replied, giggling. "It's about time I got him back."

"By your mom's lawbook, that kid would have gotten the rest of the day in 'room prison' for breaking the vase and stealing the remote. Too bad we have a flight, he'll be 'released' early."

Vienna suddenly had a slightly guilty look on her face, prompting a question from Stentdon.

"What'd you do to the remote?"

"I slid it under the bed so that he wouldn't get it, and... it's kind of stuck there now." V slowly whispered. "I tried the broom, the umbrella, nothing can get it out. It's right against the wall."

"It's fine, I'll just move the bed out of the way." Stenton replied. "Unless there's a problem?"

"There's kind of no way to move Ilsen's bed, it's wedged between both walls." Vienna said. "Kind of your fault dad, for having his bed perfectly line up with the width of the room."

A loud "Gosh darn it!" shook the living room.
Far Eastern Airlines Flight 167 - EDS --> SAT - East Karmic Ocean

3:23PM, Thursday, July 8th, 2032

"We're on our way to Saterun!" Svaardaen chanted.

"I don't think I've ever been there. What about you guys?" Darion Verto asked.

"Well, other Darion, I've been there on vacation." Ystermakt replied. "A pretty nice place if you ask me."

The Eagles were on their way to Saterun for the annual Independent's Cup, something that Edsmontik really wanted to win. The Eagles, despite being a top team in World Rankings, had hardly managed to get past the quarterfinals in the IAC. This time, they were here to win.

"We have to obliterate EVERY team that we see." Ghreksbvy announced to the small group of other players that were watching him from their seats. "We have to DESTROY their defenses, WRECK their attack, and PLOW DOWN their midfield!"

"Gee Makt, ain't that a little rough?" Vikral concernedly asked.

"Nothing's too rough for the strongest- wait, what rank are we?"

"5th." Shouzvenkreden said.

"Dang." Maktholm exclaimed. "We went down?"

"We're still top ten." Rehcikt added. "That's a good thing."

"Well," Ghreksbvy began again, "NOTHING'S TOO TOUGH FOR THE 5TH BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD!"

"Now, wouldn't it be embarrassing if we lost to an unranked side?" Zeukalmen whispered to Verto.

"That would be hilarious, but let's hope that doesn't happen." Verto replied.

It was a little intense for the other civilians to be watching a group of 26 or so Edsmon National Team players chant, yell, and celebrate random things. However, being in their presence was already super lucky. Over ten Far Eastern flights left Edsmontik, and 13 Edsmon Air flights left Edsmontik. The players could have been on any of them.

Obviously, due to their popularity among the Edsmon youth, mid-age, and elderly, at the terminal, they signed a lot of jerseys, balls, and papers. There were so many people that the crew was the last group to board, despite being in First Class.

There would still be a whole day of travel before reaching Saterun. 25 more hours in the air. The Edsmons wanted to have as much fun as possible while they could, because once they arrived, it would be a rough cycle of training and working out.

"Can't wait to meet Beirbern there, he was my idol growing up." Stuero said, looking out of his First-Class window. "I might be a striker, but I was so close to just putting myself in midfield to be like him."

"Same, that man played a strong attacking midfield position, surpassed everyone." Fotserr said. "You fit right into the attack though, you're perfect there. You score, just like him. It's just that he needed to support the center as everyone else on Woodhill sucked."

"True." Stuero said, laughing.

NATION NAME: Oriental Republic of Riandera

About Riandera
Riandera, officially the Oriental Republic of Riandera, is a country in Southeast Aszya and Osiania, between the Barat and Pasifika oceans. It is north of Australia, south of Peninsular Southeast Asia and the Philippines, and north-west of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. It has land borders with only one country: Thailand, to the north-west. Comprising over 20,000 islands, including Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Borneo and New Guinea, Riandera is the largest archipelagic state in Aszya. Its capital is Jakarta, which is also the founding city of SEANU (Southeast Asian Nations Union). By the 7th century CE, the Srivijaya naval kingdom thrived on trade, adopting Hindu and Buddhist influences. In 1512, Europeans began arriving in the archipelago. In the late 18th century, the Dutch East Indies was established as a nationalised colony. During World War II, the Japanese invasion and occupation of the Indies ended Dutch rule and encouraged Riandera's independence movement. The conflict lasted until 1949, when the Dutch recognised Rianderan independence following international pressure. After independence, Riandera turned from a democratic to authoritarian communist state, leading to a violent anti-communist purge led by the Army's Major General Yusuf that killed at least 500,000 people. Riandera was the country worst affected by the 1997 Asian financial crisis, which brought out widespread discontent with the New Order's corruption and political suppression and ultimately ended Yusuf's rule.

Soccer in Riandera
Colored television first came in Riandera in the mid 70's. Rianderan television channels started opening up to international business, and started having their own broadcast of the IRL World Cup in 1978. Viewers became interested, and started playing the sport. Soccer then became such a popular sport, that a national governing body (ASBR) was created in 1982. It established the first Rianderan soccer league a year later, with Manado City winning the tournament. The men's national team was created in 1986, and the women's national team was created two years later. Despite its popularity, Riandera never competed at the international stage until present day. Riandera attempted competing at the 1996 Aszya Cup, but did not qualify. They also attempted competing at the same tournament 20 years later, but failed to make it past qualifiers. They qualified for the 2024 Pasifika Cup, but didn't make it past the Round of 16. Debates started happening on which team Riandera would send to the IAC, so the ASBR created a mixed team consisting of players from the men's and women's team to solve the problem.

The Return After 24 Years

Postby United Adaikes » Thu Jul 31, 2025 7:17 am

Football Reborn: United Adaikes Makes Historic Return to International Stage
By Onofre Millhouse, Senior Sports Correspondent for Sports5

Steskia, United Adaikes — After 24 long years, the United Adaikes national football team is set to step back onto the international stage, marking the end of an era of absence and the beginning of a new chapter. The last time the world saw United Adaikes compete was in 2032, in the 18th Independent Associations Championship, being ranked 42nd in all Independents, ranked 212th overall, a tournament remembered as them being gritty underdogs, quickly proving their resilience, ending just losing the decider match for the final ticket to the playoffs. Now, a fresh generation of players carries the hopes of a nation hungry for football glory once more.

Fans: A Mix of Nostalgia and New Hope

Outside the Main Football Stadium of the New Thraproy Sports Complex where the team held its final training session, lifelong supporter Christie Jeanes (62) clutched a faded scarf from the 2030s. "I watched my father cry when we last played. Now, my grandson wears this same scarf. It feels like history coming full circle," she said.

Younger fans, however, have no memory of United Adaikes’s past campaigns. Larrie Pitts (19), a university student, admitted, "I’ve only seen old clips. But the way people talk about those days… I want to feel that pride for myself."

Media: Skepticism and Optimism

Sports analysts are divided. Tressa Symons of United Adaikes Sports Daily warned, "The gap in quality will be stark. This is a rebuilding phase—results matter less than growth."

But Tanzi Wheeler, host of The Football Hour, countered, "We’ve seen crazier underdog stories. The pressure’s off—let them play with freedom."

Players: Bridging Generations

Current captain DF Eden Bird acknowledged the weight of history. "We’re not here to replicate the past. We’re here to start our own legacy."

Meanwhile, Esme Johns, the goalkeeper veteran of the last campaign, visited training this week. "The game’s ever changing, but the passion? That never changes," he said, grinning as he kicked a ball with the squad.

As the team departs for the Independent Associations Championship 24, one thing is certain: whether they triumph or stumble, United Adaikes’s football heart is beating again.

Calgasia Football Team
Official roster for the 98th World Cup
Image

General Information

Nation: Calgasia
Trigram: CGS
Nicknames: Der Adler (The eagles), Unsere Mädchen und Jungen(Our Boys and Girls), the Black Eagles
Motto: Vorwärts! (Forward!)
Association: Calgasische Fussball-Bund - CFB
Head Coach: Hugo Sedler
Captain: Gloria Renner
Most caps: Jan Novák (23)
Top scorer: Jan Novák (16)
Record (W/D/L): 16-11-15

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. Die Adlers play for the third time the IAC, already establishing as one of the up-and-coming nations in multiverse football. However, the road to reach an IAC title or to qualify to a World Cup is still long and winding, and the group will need to keep working patiently so Calgasia can be considered one of the best football national teams.

Despite this, the fans will be ready to gather in pubs, squares and friends and family houses to cheer for their beloved team, Unsere Mädchen und Jungen, "Our Boys and Girls". Up until now, nobody in Calgasia would expect the Adlers to qualify to the knockout stages, but the team is improving tournament after tournament, and this could be the time that it finally reaches a knockout stage.

This will also be the last tournament for coach Sedler, heavily criticized back home for being also the coach for Melperk SV. The CFB decided to end this and forced Sedler to choose between club and national team, and he chose to stay with the Lions. The CFB is searching for a new coach, and multiple names, both Calgasian and from overseas, have been rumoured, but the final camdidate still remains a mystery.

Roster

Legend:
Number -- Name -- Age -- Position -- Club
Starters in bold

Goalkeepers
1. Josef Kaltenbrunner -- 32 -- GK -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
13. Jiri Srubek -- 23 -- GK -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
26. María Kálnoky -- 28 -- GK -- Club Hungária

No changes for this line. Kaltenbrunner, Srubek and Kálnoky will be the goalkeepers for this team. Kaltenbrunner will be the starter. The 32 year old player from Kaiserbad has shown to be the most consistent keeper over the seasons, being a reliable player. His performance during the past tournaments was solid, not being responsible of big mistakes, and saving when he had to. His prowess with penalties is his weak spot. Srubek and Kálnoky are way more spectacular in their saves, and are fan favourites, but both are prone to sudden nerve-cracking mistakes, thus relegating them to the bench.

Defenders
2. Antonin Hojer -- 27 -- RB -- Melperk Sport Verein
3. Stefan Andris -- 25 -- CB -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
4. Martin Kargel -- 24 -- CB -- Phönix Sport Verein
14. Károly Hájos -- 23 -- LB -- Club Hungária
15. Matej Blecha -- 26 -- CB -- Fussball-Club Bohunice

19. Jakob Schulz -- 22 -- CB -- Zillertal SV
20. Nico Dorn -- 26 -- RB -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
24. Mía Wallner -- 25 -- CB -- Club Hungária
25. Milos Nágy -- 28 -- CB -- Club Hungária

The weakest line in the team, they are prone to concede some late goals. The defence is dominated by the young pair Andris and Kargel, with 26 and 23 years respectively, with the addition of a key defender of the last champions, Matej Blecha , who brings centimetres and power to the line. The young centrebacks have an excellent ball control and passing, and their height makes them to be very safe in crosses and set pieces. The left flank in the 3-5-2 formation is for Károly Hajós. The 23 y/o Hungária player is one of the fastest players in the tournament, able to dash through lines and with a very effective left foot for crosses or set pieces, but sometimes struggles with concentration, making him a vulnerable spot for the other teams.
In the bench, Antonin Hojer is a reliable player, being more defence oriented and able to play in both flanks. His tactical sense will be crucial in a team that needs more experience in the multiverse stage. Centrebacks Nágy and Schulz will bring intimidation, strenght and centimetres to the defence, while Pálffy will bring speed and energy for the flanks. Mía Wallner will be a jack-of-all-trades, being able to play in several positions.

Midfielders
5. Béla Voss -- 26 -- CM -- Club Hungária
6. Max Bohren -- 26 -- CM -- Phönix Sport Verein
7. Xaver Webern -- 28 -- LW -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
8. György Biró -- 25 -- CAM -- Club Hungária
11. Brigita Horáčková -- 20 -- RW, CAM -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
12. Emil Sedlácek -- 22 -- CAM, W -- Melperk Sport Verein
16. Pavlina Kostková -- 23 -- CM -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
17. Christine Cieszyn -- 27 -- CM -- Melperk Sport Verein
18. Karel Pesek -- 24 -- CM -- Fussball-Club Bohunice
23. Gábor Szabó -- 29 -- ST, RW -- Club Hungária

The Adlers midfield will be dominated in the centre by Vass, Bohren and Szabó. The three players will control the flow of the game while maintaining a great workrate both in defence and offence phases. Szabó returns to the starting 11, and will take over the set pieces, corners and free kicks. In the right flank, we will find Webern. Their unpredictability when they have the ball possession (sometimes running for a cross, or cutting to the middle and combining with Sedlácek or Novák, or shooting) will make them constant threat for rivals.
In the bench, the coach will find plenty of options to choose. From the defensive-minded CDMs Kostková and Cieszyn, to the more creative and explosive Horáčková, Sedlácek and Biró. Do not miss the chance to see Sedlacek; the CAM of Bohemian origin has, with only 21 years, one of the brightest futures in multiverse football. His ability to create chances for the teammates and his box-to-box approach to the game will make him a key player.
The roster is completed with Pesek, who has earned a reputation of being a reliable, no-nonsense player over the years playing for Bohunice.

Forwards
9. Jan Novák -- 24 -- ST -- Melperk Sport Verein
10. Gloria Renner -- 27 -- ST -- Goldstadt Sport Kreis
22. Zoey Moser -- 28 -- ST -- Kaiserbad Social Club
21. Alex Gassenbauer -- 30 -- ST -- Fussball-Club Bohunice

Calgasia's chances lies in the shoulders of two players, Jan Novák and Gloria Renner. The former has established himself as one of the best players in the country with only 24 years, combining a fast and strong 1,85cm body with a great sense of the game, being able to combine with teammates and finding open spaces. Captain Renner, considered the best player in the country, will start in the right flank, with a similar role to Webern: disrupting the rivals with his unpredictability. In the bench Zoey Moser and Alex Gassenbauer will await an opportunity, after being two of the best players during the season.

Tactics

Calgasia proposes a positive style, slightly more focused on attack than defence. The formation will be a 3-5-2, the coach has decided to switch to this flexible
formation, where the wingers drop down in defence to form a line of 5 defenders, while in attack they move up the flanks to support attacks, especially after stealing the ball. Key points:
-Wing play: true to national tradition, the Adlers will carry much of the attacking play down the flanks, looking to generate superiority or for the full-back to double the winger to generate space.
-Great physicality: another typical aspect of Calgasia is the prevalence of physical play over individual technique. Expect strong, fast players, able to launch quick counterattacks, and deadly for rivals if given enough space
-Nastier: defence is not the strong point of the team, so coach Sedler has encouraged the players to bring out their toughest side to try to compensate for the defensive fragility. Expect meaner defences, tougher style of play and more bookings.
-Dangerous set plays: Calgasian football puts a strong emphasis on tactics and strategy. Expect tactical corner kicks where the tall Calgasian players can gain an advantage over rivals.
-Not-so-great creativity: Calgasia can struggle a bit against tight defences, when there are few open spaces. The team thrives with open spaces, so playing against a very defensive-minded team can make them suffer. The team relies heavily on Renner, Szabó or Sedlácek to create goal chances when this situation happens.

Il Scudelliano is a newspaper that promotes free speech and critical thought, any attempts to undermine the freedoms given by the constitution will result in dire consequences

LA SQUADRA FOR THE INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATIONS CUP, WHAT TO EXPECT?

Big pressure is mounting up la squadra following the shock group stages exit in the World Cup not too long ago. With the eyes of the nation now turned onto its progress from now on, Gael Gaetan and his newly-shaped up team are on thin ice. However, despite what critics may say, the reigning champions are still in good hands.

Inclusion of youth - Squad changes: The age range of the new inclusions to the team is between 19 and 23 years old. Players that are still in their developmental stage and not close to the final product. Gaetan's vision is to include this new generation of players to bolster the performance of la squadra and give the Pomenienze the youthfulness and light it really seeks. Such choices coupled with the fact that the roster got much smaller than in the World Cup gives an ease of thought for Gaetan as well as the choices he will have to put on the pitch.

Confidence despite test: The squad changes are obviously a practice phase for the team, a squad number of 32 players is one of the smallest squad numbers since the team's debut back in World Cup 77. What stands out about this team is the cohesion of many of the players, since they are mostly familiar with each other while playing domestically in club football. Another promising statistic is how younger Juven players adapt to the modern game at a quicker pace than their older counterparts, essentially putting them in the dust and in a funny twist of events, living up to our nation's name.

Santmat football flair - Clinicality: Santmat players are known for their high technicality, gli attaccanti possesses the largest number of Santmat player since its early stages as well. A more technical approach to the Pomenienze will be the trick and thus, a more dangerous and clinical side is to be expected. This was a problem through the qualifiers and in the World Cup itself, despite faith shown to the players, the team produced subpar results and it resulted in a big rank drop for la squadra, which really hurts its chances come next world cup but also hints at a much more competitive Independents Cup as the nation will have to defend it.

The people are still behind the team: Despite the afforementioned, the majority of correspondents when asked about faith in Gaetan's strategy and the team's chances in the Independents Cup showed an overwhelmingly positive response. 72% of the population thinks the team will do a deep run and a whopping 30% believes that Juvencus has a strong chance of defending it. It shows that they are not willing to quit supporting la squadra over a mishap, as was the case in the past and the people are now more acutely aware of the long-term building of this team.

Lastly, well-known company: A somewhat familiar group with sides such as Seeberg and Indusse sees gli attaccanti in a predicament it has seen itself before. Maintaing a strong lead in head-to-head against the former, while removing any chance of competition from the smaller, lesser-known sides of the group. A still in-form Joao Peres, as well as Joaquim Jorba are gonna be key in this competition and perhaps will be the change-makers in the most important matches coming ahead, with the first one being against major Indies rivals Indusse.

Demonym: Osci/Osce to be used interchangeably
Country Code: OFA
Football Association: OFA(Osci Football Association)
Nicknames: La nazionale(the national)
Football philosophy: Osci football has a balanced approach, staunch defense followed by a striking counter-attack, taking advantadge of the frame of the Osci players which allows them to run at high speeds. If control is gained from early on, focus is instead given on barraging the opposing team until goals start to slip in. Lately, focusing on more aggressive football, observed in the Campionato is the way to go and it has bled through the ranks of the Osci team.

Starting lineup sheet. This means this is the strongest possible lineup. If your nation isn't strong, a rival or it's not late in the competition, do not use all 11 players, be realistic. Ignoring this means I'll ignore your roleplay altogether, should you RP first.

Roster comments: Despite missing out of group stage qualification on Independents Cup 19 by a thread, Roberto De Casio's leadership showed that even a broken roster is enough to give Oscioru a fighting chance in any circumstances. Despite interest in football raising in the nation, 4 cycles passed since before Oscioru could actually get a new squad rolling for the World Cup qualification stages. Roberto De Casio, with a freedom his older brother did not possess has decided to risk it and only keep the 2 highly-talented and experienced players in Bosch and Côté, the latter of which rejected proposals of representing Juvencus on the big stage in favor of his native Oscioru. With the majority of the players experienced in high-calibre offensive football in the -now unified- Campionato, De Casio is pressuring his players to follow his own version of highly aggressive football, the De Casio Speziale.

FANS EXCITED FOR INDEPENDENTS CUP RE-QUALIFICATION

Image
Cities across the nation are filled with passionate supporters ready to back the team

A first touch of the water sees the team struggle at first, but seeing the competition in its World Cup group it was to be expected. Despite a great run of results in the start and even topping the group for a little while, it was just not meant to be. With talks over a prospective participation in the Cup of Harmony, an invitation to the competition of the wildcards was never granted to the nation, something that left a sour taste in the mouth of millions. However, a qualification to the main stage of the Independents Cup a second straight time has given the fans something new to be excited about.

As is well-known across the nation, the merger with Juvencus for a super Campionato will see Osci teams struggling at first. However in a surprising twist of events, Club Catolica, the best-performing team of the bunch won the Copa Juve and sent Osci fans to cloud 9, indicating a much-smaller talent gap than what was initially thought. However, individually, players who have played in Juvencus for a longer time are known to be leading in performances on the pitch and as such might be overcompensating with their performances at times. De Casio's goal when asked in multiple press conferences has always been clear and it is to use the entirety of the talent available to him and to promote team play, so that La Nazionale can progress.

A few new talents did emerge recently, mostly in the name of Joan-Gabriel Kalogeru and Aymar Salib Venturós, who despite all odds were some of the best players in the last Campionato and will definitely be strengthening the main core of the team. Rinaldi despite his age, remains a commanding presence up front but not as commanding as Lando Côté or Xavi Bosch, both of whom were among the top scorers last season. Alongside the emergence of new talents, some dead weight and undeperforming players were removed from La Nazionale by virtue of not playing up to the standards necessary.

With that said, an optimistic attitude is showered all across the nation, since the team had to go through some pretty rough competition to punch its ticket for the Independents Cup. The team sees itself with an interesting opportunity, a wildcard position to get past the group stages and straight through to the knockouts for the first time in its history. However, in a group with giants such as Tanirinthia as well as up-and-comers Taxhavn, such chances may seem grim at first. However with Sonnelian neighbors The Elder Lands and Aclan on the horizon, some points could be attained and perhaps even an upset that is necessary to get past the difficult group stages.

Vidar Washington couldn't believe that Saterun was hosting the IAC. He had gone to a few Jenna Raven Cup games before, but the nation had never hosted a tournament of this scale. He had been well aware of the months of preparation inside of the SFF, even taking the role as the tournament's main ambassador for games in the South. It was Washington's hometown of Tammen who would host the final, in the newly-built Hycanthenium. The glittering stadium was set to be the new showpiece of Saterun hosting, taking over the main role of Sultan Stadium. The H, as locals called it, had only hosted one competitive match so far, a 3-3 draw with Pasarga in WCQ99, and it was set to only host the final of this tournament. It was clear the SFF reserved it for special occassions.

Vidar had no doubt that they'd be able to fill it, as the amount of Saterun fans alone who would but tickets to the final regardless of who was playing was already much larger than the stadium's capacity. Of course, you also needed space for the fans of the respective teams in the final. Vidar strongly hoped that Saterun would be one of those teams, and they were hungry for success after the failures of the last time they took the field in this tournament. With Handrix Casfo now at the helm, belief was strong in the squad, but they still had a lot to prove. Vidar was excited about some of the new talent coming through, especially Jack Le Mounde. The right midfielder had just secured a NSD 2 million transfer to Anasb FK, and Vidar knew he was worth it. Le Mounde had caused a lot of trouble last year for the big teams, and his Tsear AC had secured an extremely high 6th-placed finish.

Now, as he sat daydreaming in the Luewenparken training ground meeting room, he wondered what the ceiling was for the Claws. Technically, they had already won the tournament, but that was another version of the team. That was Kameron Boyd's team. Washington hadn't even been in the selection pool at that time, and a lot of the big name players from that version of the Claws had retired or lost their spots on the national team. If ever, though, this was the chance of the new generation of Claws to stamp their mark. They were playing at home, a luxury older Claws never had, and they were off the back of a successful World Cup campaign. They could see the opportunity, but would they take it?

The Osnari Federation National Football Team
The Eagles

From the Outback for their first-ever Independent Associations Championship are the Eagles of the Osnari Federation. Managed by former Grunenwald FC gaffer Nathan Held, this is a group that may be new to international football, but certainly is not new to the game. Drawn from the best players on the best teams across the Federation, the Eagles proved their mettle with a gold medal at the Baptism of Fire and are riding high on their success into World Cup Qualifying.

This is a team that plays aggressively. With most of the skill concentrated on the front end with the Osnari Eliteliga’s two best players in Jost Blum and Gido Mullis, this is a squad you should expect a lot of goals from. The midfield and defense are not particularly bad, it’s just the attackers where this team excels. Hias Schefer looks pretty good too in goal, which might be necessary given the aggressive style.

The country has few expectations for this tournament; they know the team still needs a lot of time to gel and the pre-tournament friendlies against some solid squads from around Anaia made it clear how big the talent gap is: though the Eagles emerged with a pair of draws and only one loss, they were clearly struggling against some decent regional competition despite playing at home in all three of the matches.

The Eliteliga as referenced is the Osnari Federation’s domestic league, which recently played its 76th season (and its first with IFCF qualification) here.

Formation: 3-4-3
Manager: Nathan Held
Style Modifier: +4

Forwards
Expected Starters: LW Still / ST Blum / RW Mullis

Jost Blum / Old Bremningen / 28
A tall, imposing pure goalscorer, Blum thrives on outfighting the opposition’s back line with his size, strength, and incredible ability to find the net. He received the Eliteliga’s Silver Ball and Silver Boot awards - behind only Gido Mullis - and his goalscoring was the difference on several occasions in the Eagle’s golden BoF campaign.

Gido Mullis / Kinzacher Ellmann / 25 / Captain
Widely considered the best Osnari football player, Gido Mullis is elite on the wing. Though small in stature, he makes up for it with explosiveness in all facets of his game. His speed, his shot, his first step are all elite. Add very good ball skills and great football IQ into the fold, and you have a very dangerous, threatening winger in his own right, who can create goals as soon as score them himself. These abilities gained him a Golden Ball and Boot in the last Eliteliga season. As the primary choice for captain, he;s shown an unexpected maturity beyond his age and is developing into a great leader.

Conz Still / Old Bremningen / 30
Still is a pure playmaker, a selfless player who promotes all those around him. He contributed in no small part to Blum’s success this past Eliteliga season. He’s not to be ignored, though - he can still score a fair few goals given too much space. His selflessness, experience, and willingness to sacrifice for the team’s benefit have earned him a spot as captain of this squad.

Gioele Schmid / Kinzacher Ellmann / 25
Schmid is an important playmaker for Eliteliga champions Ellmann and should slot in nicely behind Still. He still has some development to make before he starts, but look for the name Gioele Schmid in future Osnari rosters.

Wenert Bitzius / AC Rohl / 22
Wenert Bitzius, winner of the Bronze Boot this last Eliteliga season. He’s already one of the best forwards in the country, but the depth chart at left wing, his preferred position, is pretty full. He may find a niche in late, critical-situation substitutions looking for a goal as a fourth forward, and he was one of the key players in AC Rohl’s surprising Eliteliga season. Bitzius most often fills the role of goalscorer with an impressive shot, but his distribution skills are quite good as well; he may be an elite AM later in his career.

Lukas Klein / Kinzacher Ellmann / 32
The Ellmann striker is a perennially solid goalscorer for what is far and away the Eliteliga’s best offense. Offers a good bit of experience to this lineup.

Levin Allemann / Old Bremningen / 27
One of the last additions to the roster, Allemann is a really solid winger for Bremningen. He likely won’t see too much of the field, but expect to see flashes of impressive talent as a distributor when he does.

Midfielders
Expected Starters: LM Kobel / CM Homberger / RM Werren | DM Nagel

Werner Werren / Lowenherz FC / 29
Werren started all seven matches of the Baptism of Fire, and played quite well. Moving to right midfield midway through the tournament, he was another important piece to the victory. He’s in the process of leaving his old club, Lowenherz FC, though where he’ll end up is anyone’s guess.

Jules Kobel / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 27
The elite left midfielder for Lockeweiler won himself a Bronze Ball and a Golden Arrow as the Eliteliga’s best midfielder. He’s aggressive and pacy, good with the ball and a reliable distributor as well. Perhaps his most marketable skill is his intelligence; Kobel has a very high football IQ, and his impressive assists total shows it.

Fabio Koch / Kinzacher Ellmann / 30
A good part of Ellmann’s continuous success is their strong midfield, of which Koch is likely the strongest part. Koch prefers to play back and advance the play, though, and may have a hard job covering the back with two aggressive midfielders to his left. He hasn’t started since a red card against Thaeloria on matchday two of the Baptism of Fire, as the team has pivoted to a different outlook in midfield.

Till Betschen / Kinzacher Ellmann / 32
A solid, experienced midfielder for Ellmann, and a great distributor; a perfect exemplar of the DM mold for the Dragons. He’s got a lot of experience, a lot of titles, and may make some appearances as a result. He took Koch’s place in the starting lineup until a tactical shift in the quarterfinals that is expected to continue here.

Liam Homberger / AC Rohl / 20
Winner of the Silver Arrow and the Silver Cap and widely considered the best youth talent on the Osnari squad, Homberger leads a very strong group of young midfielders. He started the last few matches of the Baptism of Fire and played admirably, putting together a very strong showing and boosting the Osnari offense to victory.

Rafael von Tobel / Kinzacher Ellmann / 20
The backbone of Ellmann’s offense is an inexperienced 20-year-old, but Rafael von Tobel already has an Eliteliga title under his belt. Von Tobel is a pure distributor, and will be right at home distributing to an elite offense, just like back in Kinzach.

Raik Nagel / Old Bremningen / 20
An important piece for Bremningen’s midfield, Nagel is a physical, imposing player who focuses on destroying opposing attacks and keeping possession. Starting the last two matches of the Baptism of Fire at DM, he played a huge role in the resurgence of the Osnari defense and is expected to continue starting in the Qualifiers.

Defenders
Expected Starters: LB Abegg / CB Osterwalder / CB Lau / RB Hugentobler

Joder Hugentobler / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 26
Hugentobler is a rock-solid right back with a lot of pace and agility and a tendency to press up and support. He’s pretty smart about it, but his teammates will have to cover that move well lest it lead to a break.

Raphael Osterwalder / Kinzacher Ellmann / 21
Osterwalder is an Eliteliga titlewinner for an Ellmann defense that is nearly always under fire. As a result, he’s gone through a trial by fire and come out the other end as one of the more respected youngsters in the Federation. Osterwalder is a big, athletic, physical center back who’s not afraid to get a bit frisky. He was pulled out of the Baptism of Fire early after several mistakes against Zirahuen on MD1 - it will take a long time for him to regain the trust of Nathan Held.

Atreju Lau / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 31
Lau is another imposing Osnari center back for one of the Eliteliga’s best defenses. Again; tall, physical, and just a little bit dangerous. He talks a good game, too.

Jvars Abegg / Old Bremningen / 26
Abegg is a more defensive left back for Bremningen who treats his area like his domain; enter at your own risk. Aggressive and hard-tackling like the rest of this back line; received a Silver Wall as the Eliteliga’s second-best defender.

Jost Irmiger / Tollerberg FC / 20
Receiver of the Bronze Wall and Bronze Cap as the Eliteliga’s third-best U21 player. Irmiger trained alongside the league’s best defender in Finn Hess, now retired, and for Tollerberg FC, a club whose legacy of elite defense is legendary. Irmiger will look to defend that legacy over his career as a strong, defensive-minded left back.

Endo Fey / Kinzacher Ellmann / 33
A key piece of Ellmann’s defense, Fey is a marauding, aggressive left back who enjoys pushing up and creating chances whenever possible, but is also hard-tackling and aggressive without the ball.

Florus Biefer / Old Bremningen / 33
Yet another experienced back, Biefer is the backbone of Bremningen’s defense. He’s got quite a powerful leg on him, and is maybe a bit short for a center back, but he makes up for it with his physicality and a little bit of dark arts activity when the refs can’t see. He subbed in for Osterwalder when experience was called for in the Baptism of Fire, and played quite solid before Held shifted the tactics around and Biefer returned to the bench for the quarterfinals.

Babacar Spahn / Old Bremningen / 31
BABACARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
WE LOVE BABACAR

Keepers
Expected Starter: GK Rosli

Hias Schefer / Ademarn Lockeweiler / 21
Boy oh boy, where do I start. Hias Schefer was clearly the league’s best keeper at only 21, winner of the Golden Glove and the Golden Cap. He’ll likely start all the way through the tournament. The crazy thing is, this kid has places to improve, and looks to become a real star for the national team for the next decade. With two other great keepers to learn from on the squad, Schefer has one hell of a high ceiling. The problem? For whatever reason, things didn’t click for the younger at the Baptism of Fire, and Loris Rosli became the replacement, instantly having impressive performances. Schefer will have to fight to regain his spot.

Walo Schiegg / Wolfsberg FC / 32
Walo Schiegg, winner of the Bronze Glove and one of the best keepers in the league. A pretty classic, athletic keeper who tends to stay on his line.

Loris Rosli / AC Rohl / 30
Rosli is a more aggressive type who likes playing the ball and playing up when possible. It leaves him open to mistakes but also shuts down some surprising plays; it obviously works, as he received a Silver Glove last season. In two caps for the Eagles, Rosli has allowed exactly zero goals and is expected to continue as the starter off the strength of his performance in the Baptism of Fire semifinals and final, which were both intense, low-scoring affairs where Rosli performed very well.

STARTING OFF WITH A DRAW
Ias, Saterun

The Blue Suns have arrived in Saterun, and playing for their 2nd ever IAC. Arriving in Ias, the team have been preparing for their first match against Maphidon. The Maphidonians have some of their experiences playing other teams, so this could be an interesting match-up. Before the match, the barra brava of the national team walked through the capital city to the Crescent Arena to back on for the Blue Suns. And the match is starting, Zaldarriaga went on to take out the Maphidonian defense alongside Robles, Rahman, in his first cap with the national team, showed his skills to the Maphidonians and scored his first goal with the team and danced to JKT48's Heavy Rotation (also a song for AKB48's international counterparts) to end it. But the Maphidonians didn't gave up and responded with a goal of theirs, and doing the Roger Milla dance from the 1990 World Cup as a response to Rahman's heavy rotation. But the Visayans make it a tough match for the Maphidonians with some of Zaldarriaga and Robles' defensive dominance, dribblings from Villariño, Gella, and Uemura, and some attempted shots from Cheon and Viray. But the Maphidonians still have their own chances until the final whistle sounds. The match resulted in a draw, 1-1 for the both teams. "Even though it's a draw, I am happy that I have the chance to score a goal for our nation.", says Rahman. "But next match, this could be different. I will do my best to not just dazzle the crowd, but to show my skills to show the world I am." "It's just a good game, even though it's a draw for us.", says Ayala. "But I hope our last match in Crescent Arena against Aphrilia would change for the better." The Aphrilians will face the Blue Suns in the second matchday of the IAC 24 in Crescent Arena before going to its sister city, Xaiv.

Blue… Cows?? A failed Biotech Experiment Leads to an Unexpected Discovery

Image

Melperk, Calgasia – What began as a serious project to reduce methane emissions from cattle has turned into a story that sounds straight out of science fiction. Scientists at Charles University of Melperk, in cooperation with the biotech division of chemicals company Aethra AG, have accidentally created blue-skinned cows that produce blue milk.

The original experiment aimed to introduce genes from methanotrophic bacteria into the digestive system of the cows to oxidize methane before its release. Methane emissions from cows are responsible for a large part of emissions around the multiverse, and though emissions and greenhouse effect remain low in Calgasia, the study aimed to find a way to reduce methane emissions to help foreign countries. Methane global warming potential is 25 times greater than CO2.
However, an unforeseen modification in the animals’ metabolic pathway produced a blue pigment derived from indolic compounds, which accumulated both in their skin and in their milk.

“Ve vere only trying to make ze cows fart less methane, ja? Und now, zey are… Blau. Completely Blau! Like ze sky! Ve created ze WunderCow.”, said Professor Dr. Hans Grüber, the project leader.

The University reported that no cow has died or got a disease for now, but they are closely monitoring the 20 cows used in the experiment.

Is Blue Milk Safe?

According to early analysis by Aethra in the university labs, the milk is nutritionally equivalent to normal milk and safe for human consumption. It contains trace amounts of formaldehyde generated during the pigment’s metabolism, although at very low concentrations without health risks.

“Ze milk tastes… how you say in Englisch… perfectly fine! Maybe even creamier! Ve tested it, und nobody died, ja?”, assured Dr. Greta Weiss, lead biochemist at Aethra.

Environmental and Economic Impact
Methane emissions from the blue cows are 5-10% lower than those from conventional cattle according to this investigation, making this discovery an interesting option for cattle ranchers, farmers and dairy companies across the multiverse.

Aethra has already filed for international patents, and there is speculation about the launch of a new dairy product called “BlauMilch”, with Calgasian dairy companies Weinberger Molkerei and Lactum showing interest in the commercial application.

The discovery raises concerns
However, the Ministry of Health is currently carrying on extensive analyses and tests over the blue cows and the BlauMilch, and will ultimately determine if the milk is safe. Should their decision is not favorable, the product will not be able to be produced again. Ministry sources confirmed to Morgenstern that their preliminary evaluation is not very favorable, citing possible side effects after consuming the BlauMilch or its derivatives for an extended period of time.
Additionally, environmental groups pointed out ethical concerns about this type of genetic modification in animals as well.

Adieu to Newman?

By Subrato Shahla

Recently the Indussean Football Association had announced that the Independent Associations Championship's 24th edition is set to mark the end of the "Era of Genesis" that starts from the first time Indusse had its team play World Cup Tournaments until the end of the ninety nineth season of the World Cup. The Era of Genesis spanned around thirty seasons of the world cup, where Indusse was able to qualify for two of them, won the 13th edition of the Independent Association Championship and also reach the playoffs of some tournaments. The Association has said that with the end of the IAC and beginning of the 100th World Cup season it will also mark the commencement of the "The Centennial Era".

The concerned authorities believe that The Centennial Era will see the national team bringing home more wonderful achievements as well as bringing up opportunity to host multiple events in the country. IFA Spokesperson Aniket Chaturvedi said that Indusse hosting the last edition of Baptism of Fire marks the beginning of the country's international involvement and unstoppable growth. The Association has hinted that there is a chance for the current manager from Baker Park, Shane Newman may retire as the WC 99 Season and IAC 24 comes to an end. The IFA is actively looking for deserving candidates to replace him. Candidates from Indusse who are currently managing Liga Prime Clubs are also expected to apply but the federation prefers experienced candidates from abroad.

The Centennial Era is also set to begin with a major overhaul to the National Camp where many of the veterans may get replaced and a few retiring from Professional football. Indusse's last match in the tournament is expected to be a Farewell match for those retiring. Many of the Youth team players are expected to gain a spot in the Playing Eleven and some of the stars of the National League, Liga Prime is set to join the camp sooner. Further on the Centennial Era, the nation will also witness a major change in its domestic league system where the Second Division is set to form with the 20th edition of Liga Prime. This will introduce the relegation and promotion system in the country like many other major domestic leagues.

"I would like to announce that the 24th edition of the Independent Associations Championship will be my final tournament. This will mark my retirement from the national team."

Everyone knew it would come. But you can't help tear up a bit hearing those words.

Nathaniel Rosberg is retiring at the end of the 24th edition of the IAC. Those words may, depending on if you've been following The Anchors or not: Surprise you and take you completely out of left lane, or not really bother you all that much. For one, the man is already the father of several kids, and he originally stepped down from captaincy so he wouldn't be the first person being called by the managerial staff of the national team if it comes down to business when he isn't playing against teams from around the multiverse.

And two, Christopher Vermont's original rule of wanting fresh faces on this national team? It still stands, even if he's no longer meddling in national team business. Apparently this was a consensus agreement between manager Leonardo Bianchi and pretty much the entire team, who had been managed by Vermont only. Until the Crpostranian came in charge that is.

What makes this unstoppable goodbye quite emotional, you may ask?

Well, Rosberg was there. At the very beginning of this national team's existence, he was named one of the forwards called up for the team and he was immediately given captaincy. He started at the team's creation, in World Cup 95. Then the subsequent editions of the IAC as well as the WC. It wasn't even that recent when he stepped down from being captain, IAC 27 was the last tournament he captained the national team, and mind you that was after World Cup 97. But even then, he was still an important player.

He was one of the first to trust in Bianchi's new leadership, he's a key tenant on the Aphrilian offense, and he's just... Generally a good man. People would definitely want to see him be at the forefront of the national team for the centurial edition of the World Cup, still with that core forward partnership between him and Ines Forrestal. But rules are rules, and with a team from a country of mainly law-abiding citizens? Where usually sticking to the rulebook is the cultural norm? Whether we like it or not, he'll be gone after this. Five cycles, ten tournaments he's done. Goal after goal, he's proven to be a true leader. An amazing teammate, an incredible friend, and an impeccable idol to many.

But despite the announcement, so many worries still linger.

It will likely affect the team, the fact that he's announced it before Aphrilia have even played their first game. Whether for better or for worse, we don't know for sure. "I want to play my last tournament with no regrets. I trust everybody on the team." Rosberg did remark during the announcement. We have his word, so it's best to trust the team.

Another aspect to worry about is how truly good of a captain Jessica Rhine-Faust will be. Of course, she was promoted from the U21 team and so far has proven to be fine. But people are still quite skeptical regarding her capabilities, as Rosberg likely had a hand in the decisions that she makes. But personally I believe these serious doubts about Rhine-Faust are less critical and more personal. I believe she will do just fine, and if Rhine-Faust doesn't do as good of a job then considering the team, she'll definitely have to pick up the slack and iron out any imperfections. As luck would have it Rosberg is still on the team for a while, so perhaps there's a lot more than one thing he's doing in this IAC.

And lastly, there have been murmurs going around online circles. Who even replaces Rosberg on the national team? A key reason as to why Rosberg has been so good is the fact that he's a forward who scores from outside the box with shots from longer distances. Attacking variety is an important aspect for The Anchors, especially when you see the current national team's four forwards. Forrestal drifts wide then cuts inside, Theresa Villa is primarily a finisher from inside the box, and Kevin Lacey is the all-rounder option when nothing specific really works. Who'd take up the mantle of long-distance shooter on the national team? Will Bianchi even try to replace Rosberg with a player of the same archetype?

It's definitely more of a "problem for the future" but it was worth noting. Whatever happens in this IAC, I hope Rosberg doesn't go back on his word. I hope he and the team can see themselves proud after the end. Putting up a fight has always been one thing this team is good at, and with him leaving, the team will surely play like every match is their last.

Go Anchors.
"...I'll never trust the same, I'll see friendship as just another game...! Full of winners and losers, selfish abusers... You failed to fly but somehow I’m to blame...!?"

TEAM HISTORY
After the long Elite Eleven era, the "real" form of the Kick Corps is back. These players are elite athletes who've been plying their trade in the DLK and abroad for the past few years. Now that the national team is back to normal, they finally have a chance to don the black and red and compete for their nation. A few familiar faces, freshened by the gift of immortality, have returned. That return hasn't gone great for them or the Corps at large, with now 2 manager firings in the 5 cycles. After an IAC QF loss in her first foray, manager Diana Levitt looks to break the inexplicable failure of the Kick Corps in recently qualifying attempts.
Drawkian soccer, and indeed, sporting in general, is mostly offensive-minded. This is reflected in the style indicator and in the formation. Drawkian soccer has not really been exposed to outside influences, and thus may look or feel strange to those used to "normal" football. Nevertheless, the players are still good at what they do, and prize in an enduring game, moving the ball around nearly constantly and keeping energy going, aiming to tire out the opposing team. Of course, Drawkians aren't humans, but you can read about that elsewhere. Drawkian Soccer is a female-only sport. This is because Gridiron Football is all-male, and the other two major sports, Baseball and Basketball, are mixed-gender. If there's anything a Drawkian loves, it's even formats and symmetric paradigms, hence why things shook out like they did.

Charlie Korda struck a dramatic stoppage-time winner after a thrilling encounter against United Adaikes in the opening matchday of IAC24.

Delaclava raced into an early lead as Jeremy Vonn found the net within the first 90 seconds, and Tyler Amundsen extended their advantage with a powerful strike, though UAD goalkeeper Maria Lourdes Tobin will feel she could have saved it.

United Adaikes fought back when substitute MF Coy Sigourney scored with his first touch, and they equalized in the 81st minute after Aaron Downing blocked Fito Conway's cross with his hand, allowing Leire Page to calmly convert the resulting penalty.

As the match seemed headed for a draw, Korda—who had come off the bench—delivered a sensational finish deep into added time. The Panthers nearly snatched a late equalizer when Conway struck the post, but Delaclava held on to secure a memorable win.

Goalscorers:
Delaclava - Jeremy Vonn (2'), Tyler Amundsen (14'), Charlie Korda (90+4')

This warning will apply to my future roleplays for the IAC as well. I am planning to write a story revolving around an aviation accident. Two aircraft will collide after a fatal error by Air Traffic Control, taking the life of former Edsmon player and icon Stentdon Beirbern and his family.

56 Storssen Dr., Aerkalventiciti, Dieusig, Edsmontik

2:00PM, Thursday, July 8th, 2032

"There's only four hours left!"

"Mom, four hours is a long time from now."

"We have to hurry!"

The Beirberns raced out of their home, throwing bag after bag into the rear of their Modesich Tzvaibund SUV. They luckily managed to pack in time and hopefully would complete the thirty-minute drive to Aerkalventiciti International Airport without any traffic problems.

"V, you have everything?" Beirbern shouted over the panic that was Kaera's rushing.

"Yeah!" Vienna responded quickly.

"What about you, Ilsen?" Stenton asked the eight-year-old. "You have everything?"

The kid had his eyes glued onto a game. It was the latest edition of Fustbaal Suberstrass (Football Superstar), a game where people could play as any football player. Stenton knew it was addicting, as he himself spent hours at a time training up his favorite players from Edsmontik and the world. He played in countless virtual World Cups with his son on that game.

"Ilsen, do you have everything?" Stenton asked again.

Ilsen Beirbern looked up, and then replied, "Yep, got the ball, the clothes, everything!"

With the kids fully packed, Stenton checked his things one last time. He had everything: his pen for signing in case he met any older fans, sheets of paper, passport, clothes, and jerseys. He looked over to hit wife, who was now settling into the passenger seat.

"You ready?" he asked.

"I can't wait for this vacation!" Kaera replied cheerfully.

"We deserve it, after all." Stenton said.

With the ignition activated, Stenton set his Tzvaibund into drive and floored the SUV. The turbocharged V6 roared as Stenton accelerated down the road and turned onto the on ramp of Highway 65. He merged onto the highway, slamming the accelerator again to get up to speed with traffic.

"Here we come, Saterun!" the family cheered in unison.
Far Eastern Airlines Flight 167 - EDS --> SAT - Ias Airport, Saterun

4:00PM, Friday, July 9th, 2032

"Far Eastern 167, you are cleared to land on Runway 09 Left."

The giant Charragaher C600-500* was the flag of Far Eastern Airlines. It was the newest aircraft, and not particularly the largest, but the best in terms of design, comfort, efficiency, and quality. Its giant wheels would soon touch down on Runway 09 Left of Saterun's Ias Airport.

"Ias is a big city, it says here. full of immigrants, and a port city as well." Stuero said, pointing to a travel paper handed to him by a flight attendant.

"Well that's cool. Anything fun to eat?" Fotserr asked.

"Something called... sanumi. It says here that it's fish in rice." Stuero replied.

"That sounds good. Don't we have something similar back home?"

"You mean Krispen Fiske Roel?" Svaardaen chimed in.

"But that's not rolled in rice, also that's fried fish." Fotserr said.

"Ah, then it's the Krispen Fiske Roel und Halggen! But that's also fried. All of it, including the rice." Svaardaen said, correcting himself.

"Also, it's dipped in that special barbecue sauce, right? Completely different." Stuero added.

"That's making me hungry." Fotserr said, looking out the window, seemingly trying to find a food stand.

"We're almost there. You can fill yourself up once we land, because you can't just jump out of the plane." Svaardaen said, chuckling.

***

The Edsmon Eagles would not be playing in the first matchday. MD1 would be a BYE for Edsmontik, meaning that they will have a lot of time to prepare. They had ten days, to be exact. It would be a rough week and a half of training, but they would definitely also spend free time exploring Saterun. Exploring a new nation was always fun for the Eagles.

The crew watched as they got closer and closer to the runway. Following the smooth touchdown, the pilots lowered the nose and slammed on the brakes. They turned on the reverse thrust, slowing the aircraft down even more. Back in the cabin, there was chatter among the Eagles about the smooth landing.

"FEA pilots are so good, no wonder they've gone pilot-error-free for a long time." Ystermakt said, talking to Verto "If there are errors, it's those old Charragaher jets that they just haven't taken out of service."

"I've flown on FEA a lot, it took me across Karma so quickly. I don't think I've ever seen them use older jets though." Verto said.

"Well, there's a reason, other Darion." Ystermakt began. "They don't use older jets for regional. Those C200, C250, C300 and C350 old ones are only used on long range when none of the newer C500s, C550s, C600s and C650s are available."

"Makes sense. Aren't they redesigning the older jet too?"

"They definitely are. I heard they'll add one to all of their numbers to signal them as new." Ystermakt answered.

"So, they'll have the C201, C251, C301, et cetera?" Darion Verto asked.

"Yep! You're right other Darion."

The intercom suddenly flickered on with the familiar set of dings.

"Thank you for flying with Far Eastern Airlines, we will now be taxiing to our gate, please stay seated until we arrive. Once again, thank you for flying with Far Eastern Airlines, where we prioritize you and your safety. Thank you."

Taxhavn 4–3 Oscioru
Leaky Start

Shillingmen under way with vital win

A hatrick for last-minute starter Rollo Heron, with an assist for another and the player-of-the-match award to boot, ensured Taxhavn survived a difficult opening encounter in Saterun against the Osci. With defender Töbe Aerle pulling up sharply in the warm-up and having to be carried to the dressing room, a hasty switch was needed to the teamsheet before kickoff and coach Nelis Fijnwever unexpectedly went for a change of formation, bringing in the extra striker in the form of Heron to partner Zubi Zuberbühler and Jeroen Blenkers up front. Typically he stole the show, first setting up Benno Tschaggeny to score on his debut with only five minutes gone, and then going on to score the hatrick. But if that makes the win sound especially easy, think again - far from it. Xavi Bosch soon equalised for La Nationale just seven minutes later with a wonderful individual effort, and the opposition continued to enjoy the best possession for most of the first half. Heron scored his first in the 27th minute following good work from overlapping fullback V.W. Kamperman, but again the Shillingmen were quickly pegged back, young Joan-Gabriel Kalogeru making it 2-2. Fijnwever's men went into the break a more comfortable-looking 4-2 ahead as Rollo Heron hit his second and third goals in a half where defensive work seemed like a rather low priority. But the two goal margin lasted just three minutes into the second half, when the most remarkable goal perhaps of the entire opening round of the competition was scored by Osci keeper Matteo Alcazar, who, halfway inside his own half and receiving a pass back from Kalogeru, spotted Victor van Drop well off his line and struck such a sweet looping hail-mary over the rapidly scampering Taxhavnite keeper and into the net that even his own bench could hardly believe their eyes. The Osci pressed for an equaliser but after recovering themselves the Shillingmen finally showed a little defensive steel to see the game out for a win. Victor van Drop will need to do some homework on his positional sense.

With the two hardest games to follow, Taxhavn will feel they must win the next one against unfancied Aclan to give themselves the best chance of getting out of a difficult group, and they will have to do that without key defender Töbe Aerle, who is likely to need around ten days to recover from a thigh strain. That means he won't be back until the quarterfinals, and based on recent IAC performances, probably means his tournament is already over.

Nights Like These
On sweet nights like these
‘neath the summery sky
Winds the wild, wild wind
Over hill
Over rill
With a whisper so sly
and tells of where it has been

Hot nights like these
With the trees all adoze
Dreaming darkly and deep
Of the rain
Of their pain
Of the rumor that grows
A secret the forest won’t keep

It’s grim nights like these
Graying with moss and grief
Limning land’s lonely loss
Absent peace
No surcease
From the thought, no relief
Once joy, now known too high a cost

‘Neath all nights like these
The land leaps to cry out
Anguished and bereft
Seems to weep
Robbed of sleep
Feels the weight of the doubt
And the yearning ache that is left

While in the outside world, two years had passed, time moves differently for the fey. Seldom do they deign to measure time at all, in fact, reckoning neither hours nor weeks, and treating days not as equal but as full or as short as they might be at need or after wont. That is to say then, that they fey of the Elder Lands reckoned the time passed since their last, tragic visit to mortal lands as short indeed, and the memory of their pain and loss still fresh, despite the salvation of their homeland. Movement on the field for some was mechanical, rote, and the result was a narrow victory over Aclan, a team guarding their true names even more carefully than an archfey. Wodger's sense of rhythm and timing combined well with Swoopstakes sheer pace, though, and the Aclan back line was unable to contain the two gnomes for much of the match, resulting in quite a number of chances and a goal for each of them, with Swoopstake finding the opening early and Wodger notching the eventual winner just before halftime. The underdogs would claw one back late, with the elderlanders looking distracted and ready to be gone, but the shock of conceding woke them up enough to prevent an equalizer.

While some elderlanders returned to the provided hotel in Mieteng where they would remain for their second match against Tanirinthia, just as many sought a return home, whether for solitude and quiet away from the mortal crowds or for the fellowship of their own kind. After all, there are as many paths to the Elder Lands as there are secret places, hidden groves and quiet nooks, where the worlds open and unfold themselves, reaching out for one another like shy lovers. It is not only in fairy rings and sacred groves that one can open the gateways, but empty back alleys and under park bridges right in the middle of what mortals think of as thoroughly modern civilization. In Mieteng, it was easy to find any number of promising places throughout the old town of Rolend, and a brick archway between close set buildings served to take much of the team home for a bit of respite.

Who Will be Representing the Claws At Home?

Daxler, Saterun
Usually, we here at STV Sport keep our articles focused on anything but the actual Claws matches on the pitch, but since this edition of the tournament is so special, we decided to write up a quick rundown of the national team for the average fan. The national squad hasn't changed too much since WCQ 99, but a few new faces and positional changes warrant a quick update. Hopefully, this time will go a bit better than last.

Starting with the goalkeepers, Ralf Abiatti maintains his starting spot. Now widely considered to be the best keeper Saterun has ever produced, he has a winner's medal from IAC 20 and has been a stalwart starter for many cycles. He's been outstanding with Real Anasb in the A Liga, even if the team's performances on a whole haven't been extraordinary. Sitting behind him are two keepers who still yearn for the starting spot. Antoñio, while aging, still has a good few years left in him, although he never really developed to his potential. Third in line is 26 year-old Kristofor Bohler, who has had a solid couple of seasons at Tsear and continues to improve. It's likely that he'll take the starting spot within a few years, especially given his success in the A Liga.

Moving on, we get to a back line that is deep in transition. Saez and Shain as the starting pair fully emphasizes the breakthrough of the new generation, as Shain is 26 and Saez is 23. Saez in particular has been hyped a lot since breaking into the national team, and is expected to reach the levels of Timothy Shannon and Johnathan Post, two legendary centerbacks who have yet to be fully replaced. On the outside, Sienna enters his second cycle of starting, while Alfienk holds on to his starting spot. There is some concern for age, especially with Alfienk, and Casfo is hoping that Titus Poulssen will eventually be able to fill that role.

In the midfield, Oscar Carlisle finally starts, and Jack Le Mounde is called up for the first time. Both are very exciting prospects, valued at NSD 2.5 mil and NSD 2 mil respectively. Even better, they both play for Anasb FK, which will hopefully bring some on-field chemistry. Crespo Antonsen, once the golden boy of Kameron Boyd's team, has turned into a solid player, but he'll have to fight to hold on to his starting position. Hans-Jürgen Becker has a lock on his starting position, but Sülimein Kalemanu will be coming for that spot. Fresh off a NSD 3 million transfer to Lhor, Kalemanu is the hottest prospect in Saterun football right now.

Finally, we arrive at an unchanged front line. Caesar Ibañez is at the peak of his powers right now, and after his very successful past cycle there's no doubt he'll be in the hunt for the golden boot at this tournament. He's a proven goalscorer at the top level, having already gotten back-to-back double digit goal returns in the Chromatik Red League. Maksymillian Bates is still a solid player, finally finding success with Chalesm FC in the SRS, and Adrian Schlimme is right behind them. Eli Cook is a bit of a wildcard, being younger, more inexperienced, and not as good as the other three, but this may be his breakout tournament. Casfo has hinted that he'll be looking to give young talents a chance to shine in this tournament.

Successful Debut in Saterun

Choppyhausen Wins Their First International Match

Xaiv – In their very first international football match, the Choppyhausen national team secured their first-ever win. In a rainy contest at Hymes Road, coach Harmon Merrit’s side battled to a 1–0 victory over the “Horkenheimers” from Seeberg.

Even before kickoff, one thing was clear: this match was going to be slippery. A storm had been raging over the city at the mouth of the River Asltan for over an hour before the game and continued long after the final whistle. But the 32,000 fans from both nations weren’t deterred — the stadium shimmered in glowing red and teal.

Both teams started cautiously. The slightly more internationally experienced Seebergers initially controlled more possession but mostly kept the ball in their own half without much attacking intent. The effect of the rain was noticeable early on: Selig slipped during a dribbling attempt in the 11th minute, and then Frederiksen nearly tackled his own teammate Cory by mistake.

After around 20 minutes, both teams seemed to have somewhat adjusted to the conditions. Tyr tested Kluge with a long-range shot (22’); Prosciutto’s header from a corner rattled the crossbar (26’). Still, the match struggled to pick up pace, with minor fouls constantly disrupting the flow. The referee kept a lenient line for most of the first half, but in the 27th minute, he had to issue a yellow card after Oak held onto Lieblein’s shirt just a bit too long. In the final 10 minutes before halftime, Choppyhausen’s offense made another push: Corte was denied twice by Kluge — once after a precise cross from Iduna, and again three minutes later after intercepting a poor pass from Ehrenstein. The first half ended scoreless.

Seeberg’s coach Ludwig Adorno must’ve had a lot to say at halftime. While there were no substitutions, the team came out with far more energy. The Horkenheimers created three clear chances in the first 10 minutes of the second half. First, Selig’s shot narrowly missed the bar after beating Oak in a dribble; then Weiner-Kracht just managed to stop Kirchheimer’s header following a free-kick. In the 53rd minute, Prosciutto was through on goal after a through ball from Habermas, but the AC Casa Rossa striker hesitated for just a moment, allowing Bender-McKay to make a last-ditch tackle.

Moments later, controversy struck on the other end of the field. After a quick counterattack down the right, Lukeson went down in the Seeberg penalty area. The referee waved play on — a questionable decision, as Kirchheimer’s contact arguably warranted a penalty.

Finally, in the 78th minute, the Choppyhausen fans got their moment: following a throw-in, Iduna quickly slipped a pass through to Lukeson, who left Benjamin behind and calmly chipped the ball over Kluge into the Seeberg net. 1–0 to Choppyhausen. That would remain the final score. Choppyhausen defended their lead well and took home their first-ever international win. The “Team in Teal” will now enjoy a matchday break before facing Soviet Kem on matchday three.

Gelungener Einstieg in Saterun
Choppyhausen siegt in erstem internationalem Spiel

Xaiv.

(OOC: I posted my roster to the sign-up thread on accident... ouch)

About Muralos
Muralos is a collection of islands in the Far East known as Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands. It is home to a population of Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and indigenous (Ainu, Nivkh, and Orok) origins. The official language of Muralos is Esperanto- a language designed to be universal and easy to learn- but the population is exceptionally multilingual, with each citizen knowing an average of 4 languages.

The Muralosian National Soccer Team
(also known as the Hawks, after Muralos’ national animal, the Muralosian Hawk)

The Muralosian national soccer team represents Muralos in association football (or soccer, as Muralosians call it). It is controlled by the Muralosian Soccer Association, the governing body for soccer in Muralos. Muralos' home ground is the Komcatt Arena in the capital city of Urbego, and its current coach is Jozefo Koltakov, former striker for CSKA Urbego and later Muralosian national team captain. Hina Kageyama and Pavel Li serve as assistant coaches.

Kits
Unusually, the Muralosian national soccer team uses only one kit with two of the national colors of Muralos. These uniforms are brand new, as the Muralosian populace voted to adopt a new flag in 2022.
Image
Kit made with the kit maker at Owayo.

Roster
The Muralosian roster is built around the former Muralosian men's national soccer team, whose members comprise the starting lineup. The starting players were quite young when they joined the roster in 2016. Now, they are tried-and-true forces, who (as part of the former men's team) won the Second International Football Cup in Squidroidia in 2020 after 4 years of not facing competition.

The former Muralosian men's national team and former Muralosian women's national team merged in December 2020 to form the current co-ed team. In doing so, the Muralosian Soccer Association preserved the starting lineup of the former Muralosian men's national team, while adding players from the former Muralosian women's national team to the reserves. To make up for this haphazard arrangement, the Hawks' management frequently starts its female players– including Tanya Lubimova, Rebeka Mori, Aminda Mori, Galina Shchedrina, and Valora Lin– not only in the interests of gender equity, but also because of these players' exceptional skill.

The co-ed Muralosian national team has found success, though it has not earned any titles yet. The co-ed Hawks reached the Round of 16 in the 74th Baptism of Fire, as well as the Round of 16 in the 12th Independent Associations Championship, which Muralos co-hosted with Almuzahara.

Starting Lineup of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
  • #1- Rodion Markov - Goalkeeper - as part of the U-20 Muralosian squad, he was nicknamed "the Prophet" for his formidable accuracy in guessing the direction of penalty kicks and capability to pass very wide, "seeing beyond" any obstacles.
  • #2 - Ryo Takeda - Right back - a quick, agile defender who is a key piece in all of the Hawks' counterattacks, though his explosiveness can lead to costly fouls. The only (but not the first) player on the Muralosian national team with Ainu ancestry, Takeda is Japanese on his father's side and Hokkaido Ainu on his mother's side.
  • #4 - Aleksandro Kim - Center back - born in Kurilo of Korean descent, Kim moved to Urbego at the age of 13 to attend Urbego's Zamenhof High School and was part of the team that won the FIS, Muralos' premier high school championship, in 2008.
  • #5 - Rikardo Lei - Center back - his grandparents were Fengjieans who were doctors during the Muralosian Civil War. (Unfortunately, the nation of Fengjie ceased to exist.) Exceptionally strong defender who played a very large role in the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup, most notably in the match against Elbaron in which the Hawks won 2-1.
  • #3 - Koralo Petrov - Left back - another player who rose to fame through an FIS championship. Makes very wide passes and is regarded as a good team player.
  • #6 - Mikhail Zheng - Left midfield - part of the same FIS-winning team as Aleksandro Kim. Had a brief stint playing in the Premier League of Li Qing (now the Confederation of Australian States) before returning to become a member of the Hawks.
  • #7 - Johano Abramovich - Center midfield - Formidable dribbling skills, also the leader in assists during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Jokingly dubbed "the creative type" by coach Koltakov, Abramovich is well known for his long-range, curved shots, which proved useful in Muralos' 7-4 victory against Li Qing in early 2016. In recent years (since the 11th IAC), Abramovich has taken fewer of these shots, but he is still effective at assisting the Hawks' strikers.
  • #8 - Nikolaj Granda - Center midfield - No relation to Walter Granda, who represents Muralos in professional tennis. Despite what his last name may suggest, Granda is a rather petite player. At only 5'7", his shorter stature allows him to be more agile and less injury-prone compared to taller opponents.
  • #11- Vilhelmo Lumin - Right midfield - a cum laude graduate of Urbego National University, where he played in the Muralosian University League, Lumin made his first international appearance as a substitute player during the Asian Archipelago Regional Cup. Following the retirement of veteran Klaus Sverov, however, he joined the starting lineup in Muralos' match against New Zhengguo in the Embassy Cup.
  • #9 - Rui Zhang - Striker - Remarkably fast and shoots penalties with good accuracy. One of the more underrated members of the team.
  • #10 - Adamo Brava - Striker - the 33-year-old team captain, widely considered to be the star player of the Muralosian team and an answer to some premier overseas soccer players. Despite his status, however, he is also known for his maturity and humility, often representing the Muralosian team in interviews and awards ceremonies.

Reserves of the Muralosian National Soccer Team
The reserves of the Muralosian national soccer team are newer to the team. All of the female players joined in the winter of 2020 as the Muralosian Soccer Association consolidated the men's and women's national teams into one.

  • #18 - Tanya Lubimova - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lubimova's performance has long been regarded as equal to Rodion Markov's. Her role in the 74th Baptism of Fire tournament, in which she often substituted for Markov, proved that further, and now she often starts matches.
  • #17 - Ji-yong Park - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for FC Havenurbo, a top-tier team in the men's Muralosian Premier League, usually second to CSKA Urbego. The 24 year-old Park uses "he" and "they" pronouns interchangeably, and they are one of Muralos' most notable non-binary athletes. Park is a capable goalkeeper who has plenty of athleticism and skill, without being as flashy as Markov or Lubimova.
  • #16 - Feodor Tanaka - Goalkeeper - starting goalkeeper for Gastello Giants FC.
  • #28 - Rebeka Mori - Left back - played for Nord-Urbo High School and now studies microbiology at the University of Oleo, where she plays for their University League team and works in the biology department's Permafrost Research Center.
  • #27 - Elena Kuznetsova - Center back - a senior at Nord-Urbo High School and a defender on the girls' soccer team there. She is also a member of the Muralosian U-21 national soccer team and a prospective University League athlete. At 18 years old, Kuznetsova is the second-youngest player on the Muralosian national team.
  • #26 - Smedun - Center back - Smedun is a defender for CSKA Urbego, the reigning men's Muralosian Premier League champions. He is, therefore, teammates with Muralosian national team members Adamo Brava, Johano Abramovich, Ryo Takeda, and Rodion Markov. Smedun is often referred to in Muralosian media as "the most attacking defender"; in the most recent Muralosian Premier League season, he scored 8 goals in 32 appearances for the team. Smedun is of Nivkh descent, and following Nivkh custom, he does not have a surname.
  • #29 - Aminda Mori - Right back - Rebeka's fraternal twin sister, she plays for the University League team at the University of Havenurbo, where she studies digital art and design. The women's teams of U. Havenurbo and U. Oleo have a long-lasting rivalry, and recently faced each other in the June 2020 women's soccer University League final. (U. Oleo won 1 - 0.)
  • #30 - Daniel "Lerta" Donaldson - Left midfield - played for Zamenhof High School and made major contributions to their semifinal and runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In 2019, he enrolled at the Havenurbo Institute of Technology, where he studies mathematics and plays for the soccer team – reigning University League men's soccer champions. In the summer of 2020, he was invited to practice with the former Muralosian men's national team, becoming the second African-Muralosian player in the team's history and the youngest player with the squad.
  • #32 - Yonghua Liang - Center midfield - a starting midfielder for the Nogliki Wolves and a former winger for the Muralosian women's national soccer team. Liang grew up learning the clarinet and was adamant about learning a sport that didn't require much arm movement, for fear that she injure an arm and be unable to play clarinet. (This is why she started soccer.) She reached the University League final with the University of Oleo's women's soccer team, and was also in the concert band that performed Muralos' anthem at the match.
  • #21 - Georgo Zhong - Center midfield - a current teammate of Lerta Donaldson at Havenurbo Tech and an economics major there. While a student at Nord-Urbo High School, he scored a hat-trick against Urbego High School, securing Nord-Urbo's first FIS qualification in 10 years.
  • #23 - Galina Shchedrina - Right midfield - a recent graduate of Urbego National University like starting midfielder Vilhelmo Lumin, Shchedrina made a splash with her debut in the 74th Baptism of Fire. She is known to play well in high-pressure situations, making accurate passes even when surrounded by opposing midfielders and defenders. Currently playing for the Valnohar Rovers of the Tikariot Premier League, Shchedrina is the only member of the Muralosian national team playing overseas.
  • #20 - Valora Lin - Striker - a starter for the former Muralosian woman's national soccer team, Lin's presence on the new co-ed team is a boon for Muralos' efforts in international competition. She is sure to hold her own against starting strikers Adamo Brava and Rui, and following the 90th World Cup Qualifiers, she often starts as a third striker on the field.
  • #22 - Daniil Lee - Striker - formerly a defender and sometime striker for Nord-Urbo High School, Lee transferred to Urbego High School this year due to its more forgiving academic calendar. Now-national team coach Pavel Li noticed the 16 year-old at a U-20 national team tryout; after the Hawks' exit from the Baptism of Fire, Lee was granted a spot on the reserves as a striker. Lee scored his first goal for the Hawks in April 2021, during Muralos' group stage match against Grey County in the 12th Independent Associations Championship.
