I had the same reaction and had to go back to the previous editions to check out the rest of the series. Quite enjoyed the little descriptions that come with each one too.

Congrats on another successful Post, TWP!

Hail Dilber! Hail C4!

A legend of the West, Dilber has spent much time and energy protecting and serving the region. From Minister to Guardian to Delegate and more, he’s truly one of the hearts of our region.

To encourage the next generation and seek further opportunities, Dilber is stepping down as Guardian.

In his place, we are incredibly pleased to raise up Noton Mast, better known as C4, to the Guardianship. They have served with incredible skill and dedication as Director of Recruitment and TWPAF Gunner, and I greatly look forward to their future in the West.

Congratulations C4, Guardian of the West!

No offense intended to anyone else, but by objective metrics Dilber was the best GCR delegate since I've been in gameplay and it's not close. Congrats Dilber and best of luck on your next chapter.

The Western Post - December 2024 Issue

Joy be upon ye, the December issue of The Western Post is out!

In this issue, Nox talks about old people, OT turns their judgmental gaze towards gaming, and Bran harasses the new Guardian.

The Western Post - January 2025 Issue

The January edition of The Western Post be upon ye!

In this issue, the delegate liberates the citizenry from the tyranny of bureaucracy, and people have very normal reactions to cards. Don't forget to rack up those CityGuessr points. If you win the season you'll be featured in unceasing perpetuity. Whether that's a blessing or a curse is up to you.

Everywhen Accords

The West Pacific is proud to announce the signing of the Everywhen Accords together with the Outback.

The result of much work from both governments, we are excited to codify this relationship with a brand new GCR. Though short in time, this relationship has been resolute, and we look forward to further strengthening our cultural, diplomatic, and military ties with the Outback over many years of friendship.

The full text of the treaty can be seen in this dispatch.

Vote FOR Repeal: World Assembly Headquarters

The following is an Official Recommendation from the Ministry of WAR.
GA Resolution #8, "World Assembly Headquarters", exemplifies the burden that the WA places on nations. Instead of investing its time and resources into its normal interference in national policy, GAR#8 mandates that some of these resources be diverted into maintaining large buildings full of the world's least interesting people. The West Pacific urges all World Assembly member nations to vote FOR this proposal.

The full text of this recommendation can be seen in this dispatch.

Treaty of Dayglow

The West Pacific is proud to announce the signing of the Treaty of Dayglow together with Talonia.

After much work and discussion from both governments, we are excited to codify our relationship with the Frontierist Republic. Our regions have grown closer over time, and we look forward to those bonds strengthening further as we work together in the wider multiverse and share the warmth of our communities.

Elections Return to the West

The first new Election Cycle begins now!

Nominations are open until Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 1 February (3 days from now)!

The West Pacific prides itself on being NationStates' Premier Meritocracy—if you apply yourself, you may one day become the Delegate. One way our Meritocracy functions is by the Citizens choosing one of their own for three elected positions. These positions and the schedule of elections are outlined below.

To participate in elections, you must be a Citizen of The West Pacific. You may claim your Citizenship on our forums.

Being elected by your fellow regionmates and Citizens is a great honor. It shows their trust and faith in you to look after our community and help foster its growth in new and exciting ways. It is an important duty and step toward further roles in the region—many elected officials have even gone on to become Delegate.

The West calls. Will you answer?

Election Schedule

Each position is elected to a 3-month term, with elections occurring on the first full week of the first month of each quarter (January, April, July, October). There are no term limits. The current term will last 2 months to regulate the elections to taking place on the aforementioned schedule.

Citizenship Audits take place the two weeks preceding each election to ensure the integrity of the Citizenry. New Citizens are accepted until nominations close.

The election week takes place thus, following North America Eastern Time:
  • Days 1-3: Nomination Period - Any Citizen may nominate themself or another Citizen for an elected position.
    • Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 29 January → Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 1 February (3 days)
  • Days 4-5: Q&A Period - Each Candidate must post a platform/background/campaign thread and respond to questions from the Citizenry
    • Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 1 February → Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 3 February (2 days)
  • Days 6-7: Voting Period - Each Citizen may vote once in each race.
    • Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 3 February → Major update 00:00/12:00 am ET, 5 February (2 days)

Elected Positions

Keeper of the Hall
  • The Keeper is the liaison between the Citizenry and the Government. They have wide latitude in the projects they pursue, and often will have a primary goal for their term to grow or maintain the community in a certain regard.
  • The Keeper is a cheerleader, they are the person at orientation that traps everyone in a room and forces them to get involved and enjoy themselves. They care for the Bond of Citizenship and foster its meaning in all Citizens.
  • The Keeper assists the Director of Recruitment in organizing Recruiters. They keep track of recruitment data and help get new Recruiters into the program. They administer meritocratic elections for the three elected positions.
Sergeant-at-Arms
  • The Sergeant-at-Arms is the liaison between the Citizenry and TWPAF. They assist the Captain and the Officers in communicating with the Citizens and serve as the military's town crier in the region.
  • The Sergeant-at-Arms is the primary TWPAF assistant for mobilizing the Citizenry as Powder Monkeys when aid called for during major military occupations.
  • The Sergeant-at-Arms must be an active member of TWPAF or someone who has earned at least 2 service ribbons as a mobilized citizen Powder Monkey.
Guardian of the Hall
  • The Guardian of the Hall is the liaison between the Citizenry and the Guardians. They assist in keeping the RMB clean, the region safe from external threats, and help new nations integrate into the game and the region.
  • The Guardian of the Hall watches the region's activity feed and helps bring nations into the World Assembly. They telegram new nations telling them to endorse the Delegate, check on any nations having difficulties with admitting into the WA.
  • The Guardian of the Hall serves as a kind face to new players joining the region.
