Hi there, Shieldstan, and welcome to NationStates Sports!

Did you consult Banija before copying significant portions of their WBC53 bid wholesale? If you didn’t, that’s pretty bad form for the very beginning of your time on NationStates Sports; and even if you did, it makes it very difficult to tell what things are in here because you actually thought about them and which things are only in here because Banija did them that way.

WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC 57
Official Hosting Bid

I. Introduction

Baseball playing nations, the Cassadagan Association for Baseball and the entire nation of Cassadaigua is honored to present to you, this official hosting bid for the 57th edition of the World Baseball Classic. Should the bid be accepted, it would be the first time we hosted this competition since the monumental 50th edition!

II. Format

Any workable number that will allow for even group sizes of six teams or less will be used, and there will be a double round robin, allowing for nations to have a three game series at home and on the road against their group opposition. Some possible formats would be:

32 teams: Eight Groups of Four, Top 2 per group make playoffs
36 teams: Six Groups of Six, Top 2 per group make playoffs, as well as the next best four teams.
40 teams: Eight Groups of Five, Top 2 per group make playoffs
42 teams: Seven Groups of Six, Top 2 per group make playoffs, as well as the next best two teams
44 teams: Eleven Groups of Four, Top 2 per group make playoffs, as well as the next best two teams
45 teams: Nine Groups of Five, Top 2 per group make playoffs, as well as the next best six teams
48 teams: Eight Groups of Six, Top 3 per group make playoffs
50 teams: Ten Groups of Five, Top 2 per group make playoffs, as well as the next best two teams.

In the above formats where there is a round of 24, the top eight finishers will have a first round bye. There will be no reseeding once the playoffs begin.

Playoff Structure:
-- All games in Cassadaigua
-- If a Round of 24 is played, it will be a best of three.
-- After the potential round of 24, all series will be a best of five, until the championship, which will be a best of seven.
-- In the playoffs, Games 1 & 2 will be scorinated together, as will game 3 & 4. However, in the championship series, each game will be scorinated individually.

Tiebreakers:
Head To Head Record
Head To Head Run Differential
Overall Run Differential
Tiebreaker Game
-- If a tie between multiple teams must be broken and one team wins the tiebreaker at any stage, while the remaining teams are still tied, the tiebreakers start at the top of the list again to break the tie between the remaining teams.

III) Scorination, RP Bonus, and working with the World Cup
-- xkoranate, with the SNL formula will be used
-- Each scorination will be consist of three games, and consist of the entire series between two teams. In other words, I will do what has been the trend recently and use the table generator to create the tables.
-- Should Cassadaigua make the playoffs, all playoff games involving us will be scorinated by a third party. However, I will scorinate my own games during the group stages, as I have done every other time I have hosted!

RP Bonus: Will be generous enough so that an unranked nation that RPs to an above average level every cutoff will be even with a top ranked team that may not provide any RP by the end of the group stage.

Roster Penalty: A Roster Penalty of 25% will be applied to a nation's rank if they do not provide a roster by MD1. This will increase to 50% if not provided by Series 4, and to 100% if not provided by the midway point of the group stage. At any point when a late roster is provided, the roster penalty will be removed.

Now, for the World Cup.... this competition will overlap with World Cup 94 in some capacity. Therefore, I will have cutoffs every other day as opposed to every day during the group stage, and they will be on the date that the World Cup does not scorinate. Therefore, both competitions will not cutoff on the same day during the group stage. However, during the playoffs, I will scorinate on a daily basis though will have one scheduled off day between every playoff round. (if the playoffs were also cutoff every other day, this tournament would take too long).

IV) Experience
Soccer/Football: World Cup 54, 67, 84, & 88, BoF 47, Cup of Harmony 57, 73 & 79, and Copa Rushmori 30.
Also: World Baseball Classics 18, 26, 40, 43, 45 & 50; World Bowl 16; World Lacrosse Championships 7, 30, 33, & 39, and conferences within the NSCAA Basketball tournament. Smaller events, as well.

Questions? Feel free to ask!

Hi there! First, users are limited to one puppet per master nation, so you'll have to choose between those two you want to sign up. Second, any puppets must themselves sign up and be confirmed by the master nation.

Also, for everyone, signups updated! We do have a bid from Cass, but bidding remains open through Monday, June 5th, so if you want to put in a competing bid, you have until then!

Per this post, there are 22 members of the WBC Council. 21 are eligible to vote (as Cassadaigua is bidding). Although voting has not officially closed, a majority of the 21 eligible votes has been achieved, and so I am posting results.

World Baseball Classic 57 Host Voting

Accept the bid from CASSADAIGUA: 11
Re-open Nominations: 0
Abstain: 1

As such, Cassadaigua is elected host of WBC 57. All decisions regarding the tournament are thus handed over to them. Congratulations!
