Will still submit tomorrow.

Article g(ii) has been added. This is because Kenmoria told me that some people in WALL, and elsewhere, believed that Article b(i) required member states to prosecute those who were forced into sex work.

Support.
Members' opposition to clause a. is merely pervasive evidence of the delirious, lunatic assumption that this anocratic assembly should have jurisdiction over everything in every participant's nations.
That being said, considering the naturally high bias of power holders in the WA, through decisions in similar topics, We find it unlikely that this will pass. So... good luck!

"The addition of g.ii appears to be nothing more than a poorly-written band-aid solution, as it fails to recognise that sex workers may end up performing sex work without their consent, without necessarily being 'forced into' it. In a best case scenario, this completely renders b.i inoperative, and in a worst case scenario, this requires member nations to prosecute victims of child prostitution or other forms of non-consensual sex work. We encourage other missions to also recognise the highly flawed nature of this resolution, and allow it to be voted down."

Is there some gigantic reason the WA is concerned about people fucking? I don’t see any other resolutions regulating sex between any other known organisms. Perhaps we can just let biology run it’s own course, seeing as how nature managed just fine for about 3 billion years before we climbed down out of the trees, stood upright and fought off the lions…..

This was withdrawn due to concerns over Article g(ii) - the arguments over which Kenmoria may want to note. I will resubmit this at the start of the minor update after Altys becomes Delegate of the East Pacific.

Ard Van Haldron hemmed and hawed after reading the resolution text, running through it with his green pen.

“I’m afraid, I must oppose this effort,” said the Unibotian. “It is my opinion that the resolution — as with past ‘blocker’ legislation — lacks internal consistency in that the WA is remaining silent on the important question of the criminalization of sex work on the grounds of sovereignty, but the very same resolution is expressing opinions on a number of related, but less significant questions regarding STIs without the same concerns for the sovereignty of member-states.”

“It seems strange to me that the World Assembly would have such elaborate regulation on the transmission of STIs specifically from sex work. Is the World Assembly aware that STIs also are disseminated by non-sex workers too!?” said Van Haldron. “It also makes little sense for the obligated level of access to free STI testing to vary member-state to member-state, based on whether or not they’ve criminalized sex work since STIs exist regardless, and the member-states whose sex industry is unregulated and underground will naturally encounter more public health issues.”

Unibot was, itself overrun with prostitution and drugs — a product of late hours and a monied, male migrant labour force. The Board of Directors in Unibot had tried to curb prostitution with a limited number of “licenses” but the licensing ‘lottery’ accepted bribes and many sex workers operated without a license.

“I would also raise issues with Clause C. which seems to imply that member-states are not free to require that sellers use protection. Also who is paying for the testing? And I do not understand your claim in Clause G.i: all laws are subject to extant WA law even Clause Bi. Clause Bii may unintentionally ban management and sales promotion by individuals in the sex industry who have STIs even if they are selling sex with another — the entire structure of the clause is based around street prostitutes working independent of an established business. If the WA is going to abdicate making a decision on the issue of sex worker rights, I would hope it would focus its efforts instead on violence against sex workers. If it must satisfy the ‘blocker rule’, I would rather see that than tacking on lots of detail about STIs when violence against sex workers is more prevalent nearly everywhere regardless of the status of criminalization.”

GA#606 covers STIs vis-a-vis those outside sex work.

Whether sellers of sex use contraception etc should be between them and the buyer.

STI testing is free. Ergo, nobody pays.

Article b(i) is not subject to prior and standing WA law inasmuch as it fully adheres to that law.

Article b(ii) covers only the sale and purchase of sex. If you work for a brothel but are not having sex in doing so, you are neither selling nor purchasing sex. The proposal is deliberately infrastructure-neutral.

I will still submit in twelve hours or so.

"Brezzia would totally prefer a resolution that lets Member Nations decide about prostitution legalization in their territory. However, two major issues prevent us from supporting this proposal:

1. Clause b(ii) allow Nations to legalize the purchase of sex from minors over the age of consent; sadly this was also the insufficient provision of GA#4 clause D (unless we consider sex work falling in GA#4 clause B6 because of biological fluids);

2. Clause d only "encourage" protection usage by sex sellers, resulting in seller-purchaser negotiations for unprotected sexual services that increase the prevalence of STDs; protection usage should be required for both seller and purchaser.

That worked well.

The much-hated Article g(ii) has been excised. I continue to look for ways to ensure that victims of sex trafficking are not punished for being so victimised.

A draft to repeal "Sex Workers Protection Act" will be posted on these forums around April/May 2026 if nobody else has done so by then. I am looking to get this replacement fit for purpose in the thousand-plus days until then.

Neville: We support the general idea of reserving this matter for individual member states. We would have preferred it, however, if violence committed against sex workers on the basis that they are sex workers were treated as a hate crime.
